WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL IMPACT THAT RIPPED THE WHOLE RIGHT SIDE OFF. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS DEACTIVATED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED LEFT ARM INJURIES. *JB
DROVE VEH. 10 MILES, PARKED, CAME OUT FROM SHOPPING STARTED VEHICLE. BRAKE PEDAL WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR, COULD ONLY OBTAIN SOME BRAKE BY PUMPING PEDAL.*AK
REAR ROTORS HAVE DEEP GROOVES BEING CUT INTO THEM, THE FRONT ARE NOT AS BAD BUT MORE RIPPLES IN THEM. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS DUE TO HAVING USED TIRE SHINE ON THE TIRES. I EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I USED IT AND IT WAS THE NITE BEFORE I BROUGHT THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE. THE TRUCK IS A 2004 F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 FX4. IT HAS 4256. MILES ON IT. I HAVE NOTICED 11 OTHER F150 SUPERCREWS WITH THE SAME 2 LINE GROOVES CUT INTO THE REAR ROTORS. ONE OF THOSE TRUCKS ONLY HAD 600 MILES ON IT. ALL WHERE THE 2004 F150 SUPERCREW 4X4 ( LARIAT AND FX4)
WHEN SHIFTING GEARS THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD I UNDERSTAND THIS IS DUE TO THE OVERDRIVE NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. I HAVE HAD OTHER PEOPLE TELL ME THEIRS TRUCKS (FORD F150) DO THE SAME THING. IS THEIR A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM?*AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2004 F-150 REGULAR CAB PICKUP IN MAY OF 04. IT HAS HAD A SERIOUS VIBRATION SINCE NEW. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS "TEETHING" PROBLEMS, GETTING BROKEN IN AS IT WERE. THE DEALER REPLACED TWO DRIVE SHAFTS, A DAMPENER AND A COMPLETE REAR END DOWN TO THE BREAK ROTORS. NONE OF THIS HAS HELPED WITH THE VIBRATION. I TOOK IT TO A SECOND DEALER AFTER THE ORIGINAL REFUSED TO SWAP THE TRUCK OUT AS A GOOD FAITH GESTURE. INSTEAD THEY WANTED TO "TRADE" THE TRUCK. I WAS OFFERD TEN THOUSAND PLUS LESS THAN I HAD PURCHASED THE TRUCK FOR, LESS THAN FIVE MONTHS EARLIER. THE TRUCK I WANTED TO "SWAP" FOR WENT UP OVER SIX THOUSAND MORE THAN THE STICKER PRICE. THE SECOND DEALER KEPT IT MORE THAN TWO WEEKS AND COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THEIR SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL TTRUCKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND HAD NO LUCK WITH RECTIFYING IT. THE ORIGINAL SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME IT WAS A LEMON, THE SECOND SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME IT WAS A LEMON. NEITHER WOULD PUT IT IN WRITING, FOR FEAR OF JOB LOSS. FORD HAS BEEN NO HELP WITH THE ISSUE, AFTER REPEATED PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. THIS IS MY ONLY "RELIABLE" VEHICLE. IT NOW HAS @17800.0 MILES ON IT MAINLY HIGHWAY. THE VIBRATION IS GETTING WORSE WITH TIME AND MILAGE. I FEEL THAT ANY THING MECHANICAL THAT VIBRATES WILL EVENTUALY BREAK. IF I WAS LOOKING TO BUY THIS VEHICLE USED AND FELT THE VIBRATION I WOULD WALK AWAY FROM IT! IT IS THAT BAD. INCIDENT DATE APPROXIMATE
PURCHASE A BRAND NEW 2004 FORD F150 XLT SUPERCREW 4X4. VEHICLE HAD STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION. I WAS ASSURED BY THE SALES AND SERVICE STAFF THAT IT WAS A WHEEL BALANCE ISSUE. IF THEY COULD NOT FIX IT THEY WOULD GIVE ME A NEW TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE SHOP 6 TIMES FOR THIS VIBRATION PROBLEM AND NUMEROUS PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE TRUCK HAS SPENT SEVERAL WEEKS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. AFTER MEETING WITH THE FORD FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A "CHARACTERISTIC OF THESE TRUCKS" AND THEY CANNOT FIX IT BECAUSE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. ALL THIS AFTER THEY REPLACED THE DRIVE SHAFT, ALL THE WHEELS, TIRES, ADDED A STEERING DAMPER, REPLACED FRONT HUB, HUNTER ROAD FORCED THE TRUCK AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND THE VIBRATION IS STILL THERE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY ANNOYING, UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE AND COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP MISREPRESENTED THEMSELVES BY TELLING ME IT WAS A WHEEL BALANCE ISSUE. NOW, FORD IS IN BREACH OF CONTRACT FOR NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. I GAVE THEM A FAIR CHANCE TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND STAND BY THEIR WORD AND REPLACE THE VEHICLE WITH ONE THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE VIBRATION. THEY DID NOT. NOW I WANT THEM TO BUY THE VEHICLE BACK AND PAY ALL OF THE ASSOCIATED COSTS INVOLVED WITH DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE AND OWNERSHIP.*AK
I PURCHASED A FORD F150 , THIER WAS A VIBRIATION IN STEERING ,CALLED SALE'S MAN AND INFORMED HIM OF PROBLEM .WE SET UP A SERVICE TO BALANCE TIRE'S,THIS SOLVED STEERING VIBRATION, BUT CAUSED VIBRATION IN REAREND .CALLED SERVICE TO HAVE MY TRUCK INSPECTED ,UPON INSPECTION AND TSB A VIBRATION DAMPNER WAS INSTALLED ALONG WITH REBUILDING REAREND.AFTER RECEIVING MY TRUCK BACK ,STILL HAD VIBRATION BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH TOOK BACK TO SERVJCE THEY REPLACED REAREND,DRIVESHAFT ,CARRIERBARRING ,DROVE FINE FOR TWO DAY'S THEN VIBRATION WAS BACK . UPON VISIUALLY INSPECTING THE WORK , I NOTICED REAREND WAS SITTING ABOUT 1 INCH FARTHER TO THE RIGHT , I NOW AM GETTING READY TO TAKE BACK TO SERVICE TO HAVE WORK PERFORMED AGAIN.I HAVE 5,161 MILE'S ON MY TRUCK, REAREND WAS FIRST WORKED ON BEFORE 3000 MILE'S AND FIRST OIL CHANGE.VIBRATION PERSISTS.*AK
DT: WITHOUT WARNING THE CAR DIES WHILE DRIVING. AT A STOP LIGHT IT DIED, AND CONSUMER COULD NOT GET IT STARTED. PUSHED IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND AFTER 15 MINUTES IT STARTED. THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN, AND IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER REPLACED THE STARTER, AND DID SOMETHING ON THE COMPUTER. MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY HELP.*AK
FORD F150'S HAVE A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE SPARK PLUG BEING BLOWN OUT OF THE HEAD. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD US THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ISSUED. WE HAVE CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND KNOW OF MANY OTHER FORD OWNERS THAT HAVE COMPLAINED. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 4 TIMES TO US ALONE! WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN UNTIL FORD CHANGES THE HEAD SO THIS CAN'T HAPPEN. THE PROBLEM WE NOW ARE RUNNING INTO IS THAT WE ARE HAVING TO REPLACE PLUGS THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPLACED, THEREFORE THE HEAD HAS TO BE REPLACED WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE ONES THAT FORD IS PUTTING IN THEM! CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DEFECTS. FORD ([XXX]) INFORMED ME THAT THE NHTSA IS NOT ISSUING THE RECALL, THAT THERE IS NOTHING FORD CAN DO ABOUT IT UNTIL NHTSA DOES SOMETHING. THIS IS COSTING PEOPLE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS! IT IS VERY UNSAFE BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND THE TRUCK LOSES POWER. WHY ISN'T THIS BEING RECALLED AND TAKEN CARE OF? CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIMMY / SHAKE WHEN DRIVING 55 MPH. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THE PROBLEM STILL RECURRING. *AK
STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AT 65 TO 70 MPH. FOLLOWED TSB 4-25-8 WHICH DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. FORD DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIX THE VIBRATION ISSUE. EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE TIRE WEAR, FORD HAS EXTENDED TIRE WARRANTY TO 36,000 MILES. *JB
I HAVE A 2004 F-150 FX4, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO AND I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, THE SAME THING HAPPENED YESTERDAY. I DROVE IT TODAY AND ITS NOT DOING IT NOW, IM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. *JB
SEVERE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE AT 50 MPH PLUS. ROUSH TEJON F150 SUPERCREW. 20" ROUSH WHEELS WITH 20" BFG ALL TERRAIN TA TIRES. DEALER HAS TRIED TO BALANCE 2 TIMES. NTB CANNOT BALANCE. LOCAL SHOP AT MY EXPENSE CANNOT BALANCE. DEALER IS NOT TEST DRIVING TO VERIFY REPAIR IS CORRECT AND COMPLETE.*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND LEFT RUNNING. WE HAD 3 COOLERS IN THE BACK SEAT, SO WE LEFT IT RUNNING WITH THE AIR ON. WE HAD DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 300 MILES TOTAL THAT DAY WITH THE AIR CONDITIONING ON HIGH. WE UNLOADED THE COOLERS 1 AT A TIME. THIS TOOK APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. WE WERE STANDING IN OUR KITCHEN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SOMETHING SMASHED INTO THE HOUSE AND THEN WE SEE OUR VEHICLE "DRIVING" BY THE WINDOW UP OUR DRIVEWAY. IT SLID ALONG THE HOUSE AND HIT THE GARAGE (GARAGE IS DETACHED). MY HUSBAND JUMPED IN THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN REVERSE AND TURNED IT OFF BEFORE IT WENT THROUGH THE GARAGE. IT HAD HIT THE CENTER POLE, AND WAS STOPPED BY THAT. THERE WAS NO ONE OUTSIDE WHEN THIS OCCURRED. WE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER AND WERE TOLD IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE VEHICLE TO COME OUT OF PARK BY ITSELF. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS, AND FOUND THAT FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST, SO I THINK IT IS POSSIBLE. THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION FOR THIS HAPPENING. THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND OUTSIDE, AND WE WERE IN THE HOUSE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR OVER 30 MINUTES AND WE HAD BEEN IN IT 4 DIFFERENT TIMES (IN THE BACK SEAT) UNLOADING STUFF, SO THERE IS NO WAY IT WAS NOT IN PARK. WE TESTED THIS TOO, IF YOU LEAVE IT IN DRIVE, AS SOON AS YOU STEP OFF THE BRAKE IT ROLLS FORWARD RIGHT AWAY. WE ALSO DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS A "PRANK" BY ANYONE, AS THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND OUTSIDE AND MY HUSBANDS WALLET WAS ON THE DASH AND MY PURSE WAS IN THE PASSANGER SEAT AND BOTH WERE NOT TOUCHED. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE, BUT LIKE I SAID THEY KEEP INSISTING IT ISN'T POSSIBLE. WHICH IS NOT TRUE, AS I SEE THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST. I'M NOT SURE WHAT ELSE I CAN DO AT THIS POINT SINCE THE FORD DEALER WON'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM. *AK
VIBRATING/OSCILLATING STEERING PROBLEM BETWEEN 60-70MPH. HAD IT SERVICED 4 TIMES WITH NO RESOLUTION. ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NIBBLE HAS BEEN REPLACED. TIRES HAVE BE REPLACED WITH BETTER BRAND (NITTO 404S, P275-55R-20). HAD STOCK AND GOOD YEAR GTII'S PRIOR). TIRES HAVE BEEN ROAD FORCED BALANCED MANY TIMES WITH LITTLE IMPACT.*AK
FRONT SUSPENSION VIBRATES VIOLENTLY ENOUGH THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME OFF THE GLASS. PROBLEM OCCURS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT IS WORSE AT ABOUT 40 MPH. IT LAST ANY WHERE FROM ONE QUARTER OF A MILE TO FOUR MILES AND THEN STOPS. IT COMES AND GOES WITH NO WARNING AND THERE IS NO BUILD UP TO THE VIOLENT SHAKIN. IT STOPS AS FAST AS IT STARTS.*AK
WHILE PARKING A 2004 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK I EXPERIENCED AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION INCIDENT. THIS OCCURRED AS I WAS ENGAGING THE BRAKES OF THE VEHICLE. AS I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD. TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND LET THE VEHICLE STOP ON ITS OWN. I LATER TOLD THE OWNER (MY UNCLE) ABOUT THE EVENT, AND HE IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT HE HAD A SIMILAR OCCURRENCE WHILE BACKING UP THE VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME WHAT WAS HAPPENING WAS MY FOOT WAS TOUCHING BOTH THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME. I EXAMINED THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS AND SURE ENOUGH MY FOOT WOULD BRIDGE THE GAP BETWEEN THE TWO, ENGAGING BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. THE FOLLOWING DAY I HAD THE SAME SITUATION OCCUR AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP BY MOVING MY FOOT LEFTWARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH FORD FULL SIZE PICKUPS, I HAVE BEEN DRIVING VARIOUS MODELS SINCE THE MID 1970'S AND HAVE NEVER HAD AN UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION OCCUR. THIS PARTICULAR MODEL COMES EQUIPPED WITH ADJUSTABLE PEDALS THAT MAY PLAY APART IN THE PROBLEM. BUT I THINK THE SIZE OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL MAY BE THE MAJOR CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS IS AN ERGONOMICS PROBLEM THAT WILL NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR MAIMED. I HAVE KNOW DOUBT PEOPLE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HARMED HAD THEY BEEN WITHIN FOUR FEET OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS UNINTENTIONAL ACCELERATION OCCURRED. *LA
ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CONSUMER WOULD HEAR A LOUD CLICKING NOISE COMING FORM THE REAR END. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE CAUSE WAS NOT DETERMINED. *NM *NM
THE BRAKES BEGAN TO SHIMMY AND SHUTTER AND THERE WAS VIBRATION FROM THE REAR WHEN DRIVING. *NM

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (APPROX. 65 - 70 MPH) AND THE RIGHT PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT ON THE SIDEWALL. MY 2004 F-150 ONLY HAS 9700 MILES ON IT TO DATE. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WERE NO CORRECTIVE ACTIONS TAKEN TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALERSHIP AS WELL AS OTHER TIRE STORES, DID NOT CARRY THIS PARTICULAR TIRE (255X65XR17). FORD LEAVES YOU WITH NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE EXCEPT TO PURCHASE ALL NEW WHEELS AND TIRES. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING ACROSS AN INTERSECTION. CONSUMER WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE TO THE ROAD. WHEN ACCELERATING IT SHIFTED OUT OF GEAR. METAL WAS FOUND IN THE TRANSMISSION. FORD SAID SEND IT BACK TO MANUFACTURER. *AK *NM
FORD F150 EX CAB 2 WHEEL DRIVE AT 1400 MILES LOUD NOISE FROM REAR END DURING TURNS OR ACCELERATION. DEALER REPLACED PARTS IN DIFFERENTIAL. SINCE DEALER FIX, LOUD "HUMMING" NOISE FROM REAR END OVER 35 MPH. VIBRATION FROM REAR END WHILE GOING 40 MPH+. *JB
EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AT MOST SPEEDS, MOST NOTICABLE BETWEEN 40-50. THE TRUCK IS NOW STARTING AN UNUSUAL SHAKE/REBOUNCE ON VERY SMOOTH ROADS AS WELL. 4 ATTEMPTS TO FIX AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. BOUGHT AT 15 MILES, NO PROBLEMS, STARTED AROUND 1500 MI, NOW AT 6200 AND IT'S GETTING WORSE!!*AK
CONSUMER INDICATED THAT WINDSHIELD HAD A WAVE IN IT WHICH DISTORTED THE VISION WHILE DRIVING. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS, AND HAD IT REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT AFTER THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WENT OFF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD BECAME BLURRY. THIS CAUSED POOR VISIBILITY TO THE DRIVER. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK CONSUMER ALSO HAD CONCERN WITH VIBRATION UNDER THE VEHICLE. DEALER FOUND THAT THE VIBRATION IS COMING FROM THE DRIVERSHAFT, WHICH WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. *LA
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CONSUMER NOTICED FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. AND A ODOR WAS COMING IN FROM THE VENTS. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT O RING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED INSIDE OF THE ENGINE. ALSO, A SECOND PROBLEM OCCURRED. WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR,AND THE DRIVER HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE BOTH FRONT ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
2004 /F-150/SC LARIOT/5.4. A/C ( EATC ) NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE FORD DEALER 5 TIMES AND STILL NO RESOLVE. A/C WILL NOT COOL PROPERLY SHORT CYCLES 6/7 TIME PER MINUTE. THE A/C CYCLING SWITCH CONTROLS SYSTEM OPERATION IN AN EFFORT TO MAINTAIN THIS TEMPERATURE." TEST RESULTS ( IN F* ) AT 58 / 64 % HUMIDITY MAX COOL.( ADD 8/10* FOR REG A/C) #1. AMB.70*=A/C @44* STABLE #2. AMB.80*=A/C @51* STABLE #3. AMB.90*=A/C @56* AND UNSTABLE #4. AMB.100*=A/C@62* AND UNSTABLE #5. WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CONSUMER NOTICED WATER COMING THROUGH THE REAR WINDOW. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE REAR WINDOW NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ,AND REPLACED IT THREE TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
I PURCHASED MY FORD F-150 AS A DEMO IN 2004. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR A VIBRATION OVER 60 MILES/HR. THE TRUCK NOW HAS JUST OVER 46,000 MILES AND I JUST PUT THE 4TH SET OF TIRES ON THE TRUCK. THE DEALERSHIP STATES THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I HAVE READ MANY ONLINE FORUMS ABOUT THE SAME COMPLAINTS WITH THIS FORD TRUCK. TWO WEEKS AGO I SPENT OVER $1000 DOLLARS ON TIRES AND ALIGNMENT, THE VIBRATION IS STILL PRESENT. REPLY DUPLICATE TO MIDLOTHIAN, VA OFFICE. *BF THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AND THE INTAKE MANIFOLD EXPLODED INTO MANY PIECES. NO FLAMES WERE SEEN BUT THICK BLACK SMOKE FROM UNDER THE HOOD FOR TWENTY MINUTES. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THERE WAS A FIRE INSIDE THE ENGINE FUELED BY OIL. *TC

THE TRUCK HAS HAD MULTIPLE VIBRATION AT VARYING SPEEDS BUT MOSTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT. THE F150 HAS BEEN IN MANY TIMES WITH MANY PARTS REPLACED, VIBRATIONS SEEM TO BE WORSE NOW THAN BEFORE. I TRIED FACTORY BUYBACK WITH FORDS BOARD BUT THEY SEEM TO THINK IT IS FIXED, I HAVE ASK THEM TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AGAIN LIKE THE DEALERSHIP DID TO VERIFY THE VIBRATIONS. I HAVE A 2004 F150 SUPER CREW FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH 39,367 MILES ON IT. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT PADS AT 30,000 AND NOW THE DELER TELLS ME THE REAR ARE GONE ALSO, AT UNDER 40,000 MILES. I DRIVE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY ON THE HIGHWAY, NO IN TOWN DRIVING, THE TRUCK IS EMPTY, AND I DO NOT OWN A TRAILER. DEALER SAYS "TOUGH LUCK". FORD REP WAS EVEN LESS COURTEOUS WHEN HE DENIED MY REQUEST TO MEET HIM TO DISCUSS THE HORRIBLY UNACCEPTABLE BRAKE LIFE. I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER FORDS, A 2001 EXPEDITION THAT GOT ALMOST TWICE THE BRAKE LIFE, AND MY WIFE DRIVES IT IN TOWN EVERY DAY. DEALER HAS BLAMED FORD. FORD SAYS "BRAKE WEAR IS NORMAL". SEVERAL WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY 2004 FORD F-150, I NOTICED THAT THE FRONT WHEELS WERE BEGINNING TO DISCOLOR FROM A BUILD-UP OF BRAKE DUST. LESS THAN A MONTH INTO OWNING THE CAR, I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS THE RESULT OF A FORD DECISION TO REPLACE THE ORIGINALLY DESIGNED BRAKE PADS WITH QUITER ONES BECAUSE OF PREVIOUS CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS ABOUT NOISY BRAKES. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NO ALTERNATIVE BUT TO LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH I WAS HAVING TO CLEAN MY WHEELS EVERY THREE WEEKS DUE TO THE CONSTANT BUILD-UP OF THE BRAKE DUST. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE NO LOW-DUST VERSION FOR THE F-150'S EVEN IF I WERE TO PAY FOR IT MYSELF. THEY PROVIDED NO HELP OR SUPPORT, EVEN SUGGESTING THAT WE CONSUMERS WERE AT FAULT FOR THIS NEW BRAKE DUST PROBLEM BECAUSE OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE PREVIOUS PADS' NOISE, AS IF TO SUGGEST THAT WE DESERVE OR SHOULD HAVE EXPECTED AT LEAST ONE OF THESE PROBLEMS. MY POSITION IS THAT WHEN I BUY A $40,000 NEW CAR, I EXPECT THAT ENOUGH R&D WAS DONE TO DELIVER A QUIET AND LOW DUST BRAKE PAD. IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T REMEDIED BY THE MANUFACTURER, I GUESS MY ONLY RECOURSE IS NEVER TO BUY FORD CARS AGAIN. TAILGATE STRAPS ARE THE SAME LENGTH, BUT WHEN YOU PUT PRESSURE ON THE TAILGATE, ONLY THE LH TAILGATE STRAP SUPPORTS THE TAILGATE. THE TRUCK HAS VIBRATION AND STEERING WHEEL NIBBLE PROBLEMS. THEY HAVE BALANCED THE TIRES 4 TIMES, REPLACED THE TIRES. THE FSE FROM FORD TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A RIDE AND SAID IT NEEDS A NEW DRIVESHAFT. THE BRAKE DUST IS A BIG PROBLEM. YOU NEED TO WASH THE WHEELS DAILY. FORD NOW HAS UPDATED PADS. I HOPE THEY REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY. TWO OF THE ROTORS ARE ALSO GROOVED. THE TRUCK HAS 3000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BEEN IN 5+ TIMES NOW! THE AC UNIT ONLY HAD 22 OUNCES OF FLIUD IN IT. IT IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE 30+. MY AIR WAS VERIFIED TO BE 8-10 DEGREES WARMER THAN SPEC. THE GAS DOOR (SPRING) BROKE. THE PAINT ON THE HOOD IS FLAWED. IT DIDN'T GET FULLY SPRAYED ON THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE HOOD. BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR DIFF. ARE WET. SOMETHING IS LEAKING. THE SEATBELT STITCHING IS COMING APART.*AK

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
