I TOOK MY TRUCK TO A GARAGE TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. WHILE UP ON THE RACK THE RUST WAS NOTICED BY MY MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION BETTER HAVE IT FIXED. I CONTACTED A PROFESSIONAL WHO CAME TO MY HOUSE AND LOOKED AT IT WITH THE BED OFF. UPON HIS INSPECTION HE FOUND IT WAS UNREPAIRABLE THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH ORIGINAL METAL LEFT TO WELD TO. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER ONLY TO BE TOLD THERE IS NO WARRANTY, NO RECALL, SORRY FOR YOUR LUCK AND GOT HUNG UP ON. WHILE RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT FORD HAS A RECALL ON 2004 ESCAPES FOR THIS VERY SAME REASON "THE FRAMES ARE RUSTING OUT" IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO ME THAT THERE MUST HAVE BEEN A BAD BATCH OF METAL USED IN THE BUILDING OF THESE FRAMES. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY MORE 2004 VEHICLES FROM FORD HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT THIS? *TR
I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR STATE INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE BROKEN. THEY EXPLAINED THAT THE COATING APPLIED TO THE SPRINGS ACTUALLY CAUSED RUST AND MADE THEM FAIL. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURING AND SAFETY DEFECT BUT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER AND FORD THAT THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER ANY HELP TOWARD THE $400 BILL TO REPLACE THEM. I DON'T FEEL THAT A CONSUMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR A STRUCTURAL DESIGN FLAW THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
HEARD AN EXHAUST LEAK AND THOUGHT IS WAS A MUFFLER. MECHANIC LOOKED AT PROBLEM AND ALERTED ME TO THE FACT THE DRIVER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD WAS RUSTED AND WARPED. THERE IS ALSO SOME DAMAGED BOLTS BEING RUSTED OR BROKEN OFF. TRUCK IS A FORD F150 HERITAGE 2004, WITH 23,531 MILES. DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR DUE TO OUT OF TIME WARRANTY. *TR

I WENT TO START THE TRUCK AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO I TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AND IT PULLED A CYLINDER 6 MISFIRE CODE ,TURNS OUT THAT THE SPARK PLUGS THAT WERE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE CHANGED FOR ANOTHER 20000MI NEEDED TO BE CHANGED AND I WAS INFORMED AT THE FORD DEALER THAT LABOR WOULD BE $85.PER HR X 6 HRS PROVIDING THE PLUGS DID NOT BREAK AT THIS TIME HE TOLD ME I COULD COUNT ON AT LEAST HALF OF THEM BREAKING AS THEY ARE NOTORIOUS FOR THIS ALSO I WAS INFORMED THAT THE NEW PLUGS WERE $19.50 EA. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V208000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM SUPPLY HOSE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT NOTICED RUST ON THE REAR AXLE HOUSING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AXLE WAS NEARLY RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V608000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
THE TRUCK HAVE ONLY 55K MILES WHICH THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS BUT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALL. IT'S KNOWN FOR THE CAMSHAFT PHASERS TO START MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE AND MAKE THE VEHICLE SOUND LIKE A DIESEL TRUCK. I DON'T THINK IT'S RIGHT THAT WE PAY TONS OF MONEY FOR A VEHICLE AND WE HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS THAT COST US CUSTOMERS MORE MONEY. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND CANT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED. EVEN WITH THE AFTERMARKET PARTS THE CAM PHASERS GO BACK OUT AGAIN AFTER 60 MILES. *TR
I HAVE HAD SUNROOF FIXED TWICE. KEEPS JUMPING OFF TRACK & NOW NEED TO GET IT FIXED FOR THIRD TIME. ALSO, ALL 4 POWER WINDOWS HAVE FAILED AND HAD TO BE FIXED A FEW TIMES. *TR

TO BEGIN WITH I HAD TO HAVE ALL 4 WINDOWS REPAIRED. THE MECHANISM THAT RAISES AND LOWERS THE WINDOWS BROKE. SINCE THIS WAS BOUGHT AS A USED VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO WARRANTY. SO I PD. $150. TO $175.00 EACH. WAS TOLD FORD KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM BUT SINCE IT WASN'T A "SAFETY FACTOR" NO RECALL WAS ISSUED. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS QUITE UNFAIR TO THE CONSUMER. WE PURCHASE A VEHICLE THAT HAS A GOOD REPUTATION AND THEN ARE TOLD THAT THIS EXPENSE IS OUR BABY TO TAKE CARE OF. I FEEL LIKE THIS WAS VERY UNFAIR TO THIS CONSUMER. I HAVE PURCHASED FORDS FOR YEARS WITH NO COMPLAINTS UNTIL NOW. ALSO, THE HEADLIGHTS DEVELOPED A LEAK AND FILLED WITH WATER THUS SHORTING OUT MY RIGHT HEADLIGHT,AND IS SLOWLY DOING THE SAME TO THE LEFT ONE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT JUST THE BURNED OUT BULBS CANNOT BE REPLACED,THAT THE WHOLE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED AND THIS IS AT A COST OF APPROX. $175 TO $200. PER ASSEMBLY. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. ALSO,THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WHAT USED TO BE "POINTS & PLUGS" WHICH ARE NOW A "COIL" ASSEMBLY. THIS PROBLEM DEVELOPED APPROX. 6 MONTHS AGO. ACCORDING TO THE READOUTS I HAVE GOTTEN, THE #1 PLUG IS MISFIRING APPROX. EVERY 1,000 REVOLUTIONS WHICH CAUSES A MISS IN THE ENGINE AND WAS VERY ALARMING TO ME SINCE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 200-250 MILES FROM HOME, TRAVELING BY MYSELF. SO, ANOTHER EXPENSE IS LOOMING. I REALIZE THERE ARE EXPENSES TO OWNING A VEHICLE. I DO NOT EXPECT TO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS OR REPAIRS WITH MY VEHICLE,BUT I DID NOT ANTICIPATE THIS MANY. NOR DID I EXPECT THE COST OF THE REPAIR PARTS ALONE TO BE SO OUTRAGEOUS. I AM ON A FIXED INCOME AND HAD I ANTICIPATED THESE PROBLEMS I WOULDN'T & #8203; HAVE MADE THIS PURCHASE. FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BROKE AWAY FROM TRUCK. *TR
I OWN A 2004 F-150 WITH 120,000 MILES. WHEN I AM STOPPED AND START TO TURN THE REAR END MAKES A HORRIBLE SHAKING NOISE. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK FOR 40,000 MILES AND IT HAS ALWAYS HAD THIS BROBLEM. IF FORDS COMPANY SLOGAN IS BUILT TOUGH THEN THIS TYPES OF PROBLEMS SHOULD BE RECALLED. IT SEEMS MAJORITY OF 2004 OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM
SMELT FUEL EMITTING FROM THE GAS TANK AREA BUT COULD NOT FIND THE SOURCE OF THE SMELL; TURNED ON THE IGNITION KEY WITHOUT STARTING THE TRUCK. I SAW FUEL RUNNING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE FUEL TANK. I TURNED OFF THE KEY AND PROCEEDED TO REMOVED THE FUEL TANK GAS STRAPS TO LOWER THE TANK; WITH ALL HOSES STILL CONNECTED I TURNED THE KEY BACK ON; FUEL WAS SPEWING FROM THE FUEL PUMP. I COMPLETELY REMOVED THE FUEL TANK AND ALL HOSES AND FOUND A LINEAR CRACK ON THE PRESSURE SIDE OF THE FUEL PUMP HOSE CONNECTION. THIS VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS THE ORIGINAL FUEL PUMP TO THIS VEHICLE. *JS
MY REAR END DIFFERENTIAL - AXLE WENT OUT AND IT'S MAKING A NOISE AND FEELS LIKE MY REAR END IS LOSE WHEN I DRIVE DOWN THE HIGHWAY ALMOST FEELS UNSAFE BUT IT IS TOO PRICEY TO FIX I FEEL I SHOULD BE SOMETHING FORD SHOULD FIX OR RECALL. *TR
HAD A LOUD WHINNING NOISE I COULD HEAR WHEN DRIVING, BUT WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS IT WOULDN'T BE AS LOUD AND PRETTY MUCH GO AWAY. IT WAS NOT TIRE NOISE OR HUM. JUST HIT A 100,000 MILES AND THE NOISE HAD GOTTEN A LOT LOUDER. I READ LOTS INFORMATION ONLINE AND FOUND IT TO BE THE PINION BEARING. TOOK IT TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE PINION BEARING HAD GONE BAD. THIS IS VERY SURPRISING THAT SO MANY 2004 AND NEWER F150 OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY FORD. I THINK THEY ARE TURNING A BLIND EYE BECAUSE OF THE COST OF PARTS AND AMOUNT OF TIME OF LABOR. BESIDES THE PINION BEARING, ALSO HAD TO DO OTHER BEARINGS AND SEAL. TRUCK IS NOT DRIVEN HARD AT ALL. *TR

MALFUNCTIONING DIFFERENTIAL- WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, (ESPECIALLY FROM A TURN) VIBRATIONS OCCUR AND POSSES A RISK OF A POTENTIAL FAILURE WHEN PULLING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STALLING WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LATCH. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SOFTWARE NEEDED TO REFLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED AFTER IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS WATER IN THE OIL PAN AND A FUEL ROD FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
WE ALWAYS TAKE OUR TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE. RECENTLY THEY GOT NEW MANAGEMENT AND THEY SAID OH BY THE WAY SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU EVEN THOUGH THE SPARK PLUGS ARE 100,000 MILES YOU SHOULD HAVE HAD THEM CHANGED ALREADY BECAUSE THEY GET STUCK. SO I WENT TO THE INTERNET AND READ THE NIGHTMARES ABOUT MY 5.4 ENGINE SPARK PLUGS. TOOK IT TO A 3RD PARTY MECHANIC AND ALL 8 GOT STUCK AND WERE NOT EASY TO REMOVE USING FORD'S SPECIAL TOOL THEY DEVELOPED BECAUSE THEY KNOW OF THIS PROBLEM. I APPARENTLY MADE PUT A LOT BETTER THAN MOST, MY BILL WAS ONLY A WHOPPING $700 FOR HAVING SPARK PLUGS CHANGED WITHIN 100,000 MILES THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD FOR. MECHANICS ARE RECOMMENDING GETTING THEM CHANGED AT LEAST EVERY 50,000 MILES NOW AND SOME WON'T EVEN TOUCH THE FORD 5.4 ENGINES. MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD BILLS IN THE THOUSANDS FOR THIS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ALL DUE TO FORD'S BAD DESIGN. THERE HAVE EVEN BEEN MULTIPLE CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS BUT WHEN I CALLED FORD FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THEM AND WHY I WASN'T NOTIFIED TO JOIN, THEY SAY THEY CAN'T PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION. I DON'T MIND ROUTINE MAINTENANCE BUT A KNOWN ISSUE LIKE THIS THAT FORD REFUSES TO ASSIST CONSUMERS WITH IS RIDICULOUS. *TR

IT APPEARS THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE LINKAGE. THERE HAD BEEN SMALL NOTICEABLE SHIMMY WITH THE BRAKES, WHICH HAVING BEEN FAIRLY RECENTLY REPLACED, DID CONCERN ME. HOWEVER, ON THE WAY HOME, I TAPPED THE BRAKE AT APPROX 35 MPH, I GOT A VERY LARGE CLUNK IN THE REAR. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, VERY CONCERNED OVER WHAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED. HOWEVER, I WAS ON OPEN ROAD, 40 MILES FROM HOME. AS I CONTINUED TO DRIVE, I COULD TELL THERE WERE MAJOR ISSUES. IT WAS BAD WEATHER, AND I WAS IN MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I CONTINUED HOME TO MY REPAIR SHOP. THEY INFORMED ME THE NEXT DAY, THAT THE PARKING BRAKE LINKAGE GOT FOULED UP, WRAPPED AROUND A BRAKE OR SOMETHING, EVENTUALLY TEARING IT ALL UP. THIS IS COSTING ME APPROX $500 TO REPLACE. AFTER RESEARCH, I SEE A TSB 08-11-1 WAS ISSUED. WHY NOT OWNERS NOTIFIED? THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO OWNERS FOR A FIX. I BLAME FORD. *TR
HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED MULTIPLE TIMES IN THIS LIST. ACCELERATING PAST 40 MPH, THE TRUCK SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND REV'D UP TO ABOUT 4000RPM. DID THE SAME THING REPEATEDLY AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT. APPARENTLY A BROKEN SNAP RING. HARD TO BELIEVE THIS IS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY HAZARD, AND SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE FIXED VIA RECALL?? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS EXITING A PARKING AREA WHEN A LOUD NOISED WAS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS FRACTURED IN HALF AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FUEL TANK AND MUFFLER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 146,000.

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 47,000.

DRIVING DOWN MY STREET THE WINDOW JUST CRASHED DOWN! IT FELL SO FAST AND HARD THAT I HAD TO LOOK TO MY RIGHT SIDE TO SEE WHAT HIT ME! AT THAT POINT I REAR ENDED A CAR THAT SLOWED DOWN! ALL THIS IS DO TO A CHEAP PLASTIC CLIP THAT FAILED AND RELEASED THE WINDOW. *TR

THE FAILURES OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VARIOUS INDEPENDENT MECHANICS. ONE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESSES AND CAM PHASERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE INTAKE AND THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
POWER LOSS AND SURGE IN FLOW OF TRAFFIC AT 65MPH. SUDDEN STOP AND LOSS OF POWER IN TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC HAD TO COME TO HALT AROUND ME. I HAD TO STOP VEHICLE AND ATTEMPT TO RESTART SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL OF FORD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. I HAVE NOT HAD IT HAPPEN AT THESE SPEEDS AND IT WAS TERRIFYING. *TR

I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND SET MY CRUISE CONTROL AT 74 MPH. WHEN I PRESSED MY BRAKE PEDAL, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULDN'T DISENGAGE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD LIKE A ROCK. I THEN PRESSED THE OFF BUTTON TO TURN THE CRUISE CONTROL OFF BUT IT REMAINED ENGAGED. I PRESSED HARDER ON THE BRAKE AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN TO 65 MPH BUT AS SOON AS I RELEASED THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY SPED UP TO 74 MPH. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL TO STOP. WHEN I DID THIS THE ENGINE RACED TO 4500 RPM. I THEN PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED, I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND IT RACED TO 4500 RPM. I PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND MADE A LEFT TURN INTO THE CENTER LEFT TURN LANE AND HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK BACK IN NEUTRAL WHILE I WAITED FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR SO I COULD MERGE. THE ENGINE RACED TO 4500 RPM. WHEN TRAFFIC CLEARED, I PUT THE TRUCK BACK IN DRIVE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL FINALLY DISENGAGED. HOWEVER, AT THIS TIME I SMELLED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. SINCE THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISENGAGED AT THIS TIME I DECIDED TO RE-ENTER THE FREEWAY AND RETURN HOME. I HAVEN'T TRIED THE CRUISE CONTROL SINCE THEN BUT I SMELLED SMOKE AGAIN THIS MORNING WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP. I SHOULD NOTE THAT MY VEHICLE IS A 2004 F-150 HERITAGE EDITION WHICH IN ESSENCE IS IDENTICAL TO THE 2003 F-150. THE 2003 F-150 WAS RECALLED FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT ACCORDING TO FORD MOTOR THE 2004 F-150 HERITAGE WASN'T. BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE HAVE TOLD ME THAT I MUST PAY FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I THINK IT WAS JUST AN OVERSIGHT THAT THE 2004 F-150 HERITAGE WASN'T RECALLED ALONG WITH THE 2003 F-150. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE THAN IT WAS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK BEGAN VIBRATING, PULLED OVER TO SEE IF THE TIRES WERE THE ISSUE. NOTHING APPEARED TO BE WRONG, TIRE PRESSURE WAS FINE AND NO WEIGHTS HAD FALLEN OFF. AT TIMES THE VIBRATION WAS VIOLENT, SHAKING THE WHOLE TRUCK. DROVE ANOTHER 10 MILES WITHOUT ANY ISSUES AND THE VIBRATION WOULD START AGAIN, LOOKED ON LINE AND THERE WERE SEVERAL POSTS IDENTIFYING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH OTHER FORD TRUCKS. *TR
I OWN A 2004 F150. THE TRUCK CAME WITH FACTORY STEEL WHEELS. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES. THE STEEL WHEELS RUSTED TO THE POINT I NO LONGER FELT SAFE DRIVING ON THE WHEELS. THE DEALER SAID NOT THEIR PROBLEM, I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. IF YOU HAVE A FORD WITH STEEL WHEELS BE SURE TO CHECK FOR RUST. CALL FORD AND ASK FOR A RECALL.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 185,000.

FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE, BACK SIDE OF MODULE CORRODED AWAY EXPOSING CIRCUIT BOARD CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO STOP RUNNING AND LEAVING ME STRANDED DURING A SNOW STORM,SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM ON 2004-2008 FORD PICKUPS. ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2013 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY, I FELT SEVERAL "THUMPS" PRIOR TO THE REAR LEFT TIRE ON MY F-150 BLOW. THERE WAS NO LOAD IN THE TRUCK NOR WAS I TOWING. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET ONTO THE SHOULDER. AAA RESPONDED AND ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE TIRE. HE WAS UNABLE, AS SOME OF THE TIRE TREAD WAS WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE. WE ALSO OBSERVED THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE BROKEN. A TOW TRUCK WAS THEN DISPATCHED TO MOVE MY F-150 TO A GARAGE. DAMAGE NOTED TO THE TRUCK WAS A SNAPPED PARKING BRAKE CABLE AND A KINKED HYDRAULIC LINE. I AUTHORIZED THE GARAGE TO REPAIR THE BRAKE SYSTEM AND GET MY TRUCK BACK ON THE ROAD. BY THE TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO GATHER THE REPAIR PARTS, IT WAS THE FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY (DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING) WHEN I ABLE TO GET IT BACK. FIRST THING I NOTICED WAS THE BROKEN TRAILER ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR ON THE BUMPER. DISCUSSIONS WITH THE TOW COMPANY AND THE GARAGE DETERMINED THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY FLYING RUBBER. THAT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON I TOOK THE TRUCK TO DISCOUNT TIRE TO HAVE THE DAMAGED TIRE REPLACED UNDER THE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY I HAD PURCHASED FROM THEM. EXAMINATION OF THE REMAINING THREE LTX M/S TIRES REVEALED ANOTHER TIRE WITH A DELAMINATION BULGE. DISCOUNT REPLACED TWO OF THE TIRES UNDER THE WARRANTY WITH LTX M/S2?S, AND I PURCHASED TWO MORE. REPLACED FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE (FPDM) MOUNTED ON A SUPPORT ABOVE THE SPARE TIRE ON A 04 FORD F150.FIRST ENGINE CODE WAS P0191 FOR THE FUEL RAIL PRESSURE SENSOR, ENGINE WOULD CRANK BUT NOT START. RAN SCAN TOOL AND FOUND CODE P1237 FOR THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE. THE CAST HOUSING OF THE FPDM IS CORRODED AND CRACKED ALMOST SPLITTING IT IN TWO PIECES. HAD TO GRIND OFF FPDM AND THE MOUNTING BOLTS AND DRILL AND TAP NEW MOUNTING HOLES. AFTER REPLACING FPDM, TRUCK STARTS AND NO LONGER HAS A ROUGH IDLE. *TR
BOUGHT 2004 F150 BRAND NEW, NEVER OFF ROAD, ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE COMPLETED: SON DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AT 65MPH, HEARD LOUD BREAKING NOISE, SEVERE RATTLING, SHAKING, NO POWER, COASTED DOWN RAMP AND TO SIDE ROAD. TOWED TO MECHANIC--ROD THROUGH THE OIL PAN. MECHANIC VERIFIED THAT OIL WAS PUMPED PROPERLY THROUGH MOTOR.. SAME MECHANIC HAS WORKED ON THIS CAR SINCE WE HAVE HAD IT. WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE ALL 4 DOOR WINDOW MOTORS REPLACED (TWICE-SECOND TIME, WE FIXED FRONT DOOR WINDOWS AND HAD BACK DOOR WINDOWS WIRED UP) , THE BACK GLASS REPLACED FOR LEAKING, THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SENSORS REPLACED, THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT, THE OVERHEAD CAM SYSTEM REPLACED AND NOW THIS. *TR
