REAR STEEL BRAKE LINE FAILED ABOVE GAS TANK CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKES. FORD DEALER SAYS LINES WERE CORRODED AND RUSTED WHICH CAUSED FAILURE ON 8 YR OLD TRUCK WITH 49.,000 MILES IN A NON CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENT. AND CHARGED $500.00 TO REPLACE. VEHICLE HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR GAS TANK STRAP CORROSION FAILURE THIS YEAR. I CONTACTED FORD AND GOT A VERY UNSATISFACTORY SO WHAT TYPE RESPONSE. YOUR HELP AND ASSISTANCE INTO THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE IS WELCOMED. *TR *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTED. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO LOCATED THE FAILURE AS THE INTAKE MANIFOLD BEING WARPED AND LEAKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000. UPDATED 09/11/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED EXHAUST GASES WAS LEAKING INTO THE ENGINE AREA AND COULD ENTER INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. UPDATED 09/13/2012 *JS
2 DOOR WINDOWS FELL INTO THE FRONT RIGHT, AND DRIVER'S REAR DOOR - REGULATOR ASSEMBLIES. LOUD BANG BEFORE THEY FELL. FELL ON THE SAME DAY WITHIN 1 HOUR APART. THE FIRST, I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MILES PER HOUR, AND THE 2ND I WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. ALMOST $600 TO HAVE BOTH REPAIRED. AFTER MUCH RESEARCHING, THERE IS NO RECALL ON THESE REGULATOR ASSEMBLIES, ALTHOUGH HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS, HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD FOR REIMBURSEMENT, AND RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. *TR
STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS LAST YEAR WITH TRANSMISSION. OVERDRIVE WOULD GO OUT AND SOMETIMES TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. JULY OF THIS YEAR WAS AT A STOPLIGHT TRUCK WOULD NO MOVE , AFTER RACING ENGINE TRUCK MOVED , FAULT CODE SHOWED ON DASH. WHEN GOT TRUCK HOME REVERSE WOULD NOT ENGAGE, I FINALLY GOT IT TO ENGAGE INSTEAD OF GOING BACKWARDS IT WENT FORWARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW RETRACTED INTO THE DOOR PANEL AND BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE CABLE THAT HELD THE WINDOW UP FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE DRIVERS WINDOW FOR NO REASON JUST FELL DOWN CAUSING A LOAD CRASHING NOISE I NEARLY WENT INTO DITCH. TWO DAYS LATER THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW DID SAMETHING. I WAS NOT ROLLING WINDOWS UP OR DOWN THEY JUST FELL CAN FORD ADMIT THEY HAVE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INJURED. *TR
I OWN A 2004 FORD F-150. IN 2012 I HAD MY E-BRAKE LIGHT START FLASHING AT ME. I BROUGHT IT INTO THE MECHANIC AND HAD THEM LOOK IT OVER, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG OTHER THEN THE WIRING UNDER THE DASH WAS PROBABLY BAD, SO I BROUGHT IT TO A BRAKE SPECIALIST AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING, NOTHING WRONG WITH CYLINDER OR BRAKES, THAT IT WAS THE WIRING UNDER THE DASH. I'M TRULY NOT SAFE USING MY E-BRAKE AS I'M NOT SURE IF IT IS WORKING OR NOT. MY INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON ALSO WHEN I WOULD TURN ON MY HEADLIGHTS, EVERYONE KNOWS YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ANYWAY. I HAVE READ SEVERAL ARTICLES WHERE OTHER FORD F-150 OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I THINK THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND A RECALL SHOULD GO OUT. *TR
I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT LETTING MY CAR COOL DOWN BEFORE I ROLLED UP THE WINDOWS AND ONCE I PROCEEDED TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW IT MADE A LOUD THUMP/POP NOISE AND THE WINDOW FELL BETWEEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOORWAY. I HAD MY LOCAL MECHANIC FIX IT ON 6/30 AND RIGHT AFTER LEAVING HIS SHOP, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HEARD A LOUD NOISE COME FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE (AND ALMOST WRECKED INTO A PARKED CAR DUE TO THE NOISE!) AND STOPPED TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. I TRIED THE WINDOW AND IT SLAMMED RIGHT BETWEEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. NOW TWO WINDOWS AND $800.00 LATER I HAVE THEM FIXED DUE TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR GOING OUT IN EACH ONE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS I CALLED FORD AND THEY WOULD DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. IN LATE-JUNE 2012 A LOUD CLUNK/THUD/POP/SMALL EXPLOSION OCCURRED IN THE PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR OF MY 2004 FORD F-150 REGULAR CAB TRUCK, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND IDLING, AND THE WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR FRAME. WHEN I RETURNED HOME I REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL AND DISCOVERED THAT A SMALL PIECE OF MOLDED PLASTIC, 1 1/8" X 1 7/8" (PROBABLE COST TO FORD ABOUT 39 CENTS) ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD DISINTEGRATED/FAILED, ALLOWING THE REGULATOR CABLE TO RELEASE THE WINDOW. I HAVE FOUND A REPLACEMENT WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE INTERNET FOR $70 (FORD CHARGES $175 FOR THE PART) AND WILL REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE ITEM MYSELF. I NOTIFIED FORD OF THE FAILURE OF A LESS-THAN-QUALITY PLASTIC PIECE ON THE REGULATOR AND ASKED FOR REIMBURSEMENT. FORD RESPONDED: "THERE ARE NO FACTORY WARRANTIES OR PROGRAMS IN EFFECT ON YOUR VEHICLE THAT WOULD PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR YOUR CURRENT VEHICLE CONCERN." HOWEVER, THEY DID ADD: "RECOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP YOUR REPAIR RECEIPTS IN CASE FORD INITIATES A RECALL OR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM IN THE FUTURE BASED ON CUSTOMER FEEDBACK OR FURTHER ENGINEERING REVIEW OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS." I SEE FROM THE LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE BY FORD TRUCK OWNERS THAT I AM BUT ONE OF HUNDREDS WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED, AND OBVIOUSLY, THERE WILL BE HUNDREDS MORE; THE ODDS ARE VERY HIGH THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE PLASTIC PIECES ON FORD TRUCK WINDOW REGULATORS WILL FAIL SOONER OR LATER, AND I SERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT THE 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK IS THE ONLY MODEL YEAR THAT CONTAINS PLASTIC PARTS IN THE WINDOW REGULATORS. $70 TO REPLACE A FAILED PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT INITIALLY PROBABLY COST FORD ABOUT 39 CENTS TO PRODUCE IS A SAD COMMENTARY ON QUALITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEFT AND LOWER CAM SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED SINCE THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND SUGGESTED THAT THE FAILURE MIGHT BE A DIRECT RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A REPORT AND DID NOT OFFER ANY ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 129,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD FI50. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED BUT COULD NOT BE CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE, STATING THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 199,520.
IS ANYBODY DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THE FORD WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEM. OVER THE YEARS ALL OF MY SONS WINDOWS HAVE ALL FALLEN DOWN. AT TIMES LEAVING THE KIDS WITH EXPOSURE TO WHOEVER PASSES BY...THIS IS NOT SAFE. TWO WINDOWS FAILED ON THE SAME DAY. TRIED TO CALL FORD AND GOT NO REASONABLE RESPONSE... *JS
VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN EARLIER THAT MORNING. WHILE PARKED IN THE REAR OF THE HOME THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE MOTOR AREA. IT STARTED ABOUT 20 MIN AFTER BEING PARKED. THERE WAS ALSO DAMAGE TO THE HOUSE. NOT SURE THE CAUSE AND THANKFUL FOR NO INJURIES. *TR
AS VEHICLE WARMS UP AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL MILES COMING TO A STOP. THE ENGINE BEGINS TO KNOCK ATTEMPTING TO STALL OUT. WHEN GIVING THE VEHICLE GAS IT KICKS ALMOST CAUSING SEVERAL AUTO ACCIDENTS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS REPLACING THE CAM PHASERS DUE TO A CODE. THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING AND THE CODE STILL SAYS REPLACE CAM PHASER. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM WHICH CAN'T BE FIXED. AS FAR AS THE KNOCKING SOUND THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME ITS A FORD TRITON THAT'S THE KNOCKING SOUND IM HEARING. BUT FROM MECHANICS THE SOUND IS FROM AIR ESCAPING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. FORD REFUSES TO ACCEPT THE DEFECT FIXING ISSUES SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2004. *TR
I STARTED MY TRUCK ONE DAY AND RECEIVED A "TRANS FAULT NO O/D" DASH CODE. THE VEHICLE HAS DRIVEN FINE AND SHIFTED FINE, BUT I WANTED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY PULLED A CODE FOR THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE SENSOR BUT SAID THEY NOTICED METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION PAN. THE RECOMMENDATION WAS A NEW TRANSMISSION ($3000) OR A REBUILT TORQUE CONVERTER. I WAS SUSPICIOUS THAT IT COULD BE SO SERIOUS AND CALLED A FAMILY MEMBER THAT WORKED WITH A MECHANIC AT ANOTHER FORD DEALER. HE MENTIONED REPLACING A TRANSMISSION IN A 2005 F-150 IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS FOR THE SAME SITUATION. I NOTICED SEVERAL RELATED TRANSMISSION ISSUE REPORTS AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM AS WELL AS SEVERAL FORD FORUMS. FOR A TRUCK WITH LOW MILES, TRANSMISSION FLUID THAT ISN'T BURNT, AND 66% HIGHWAY MILES WITH NO TOWING, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE AND A HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN. *TR
DRIVING 55 ON FREEWAY FOR ABOUT 6 MINUTES WHEN THE SPARK PLUG EJECTED OUT OF THE HEAD. PULLED OVER HAD TOWED. ONLY 72,000 MILES WITH PERFECT MAINTENANCE RECORDS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL OR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO SLUDGE IN MOTOR CAUSED BY POOR ENGINE DESIGN AND OVERLY HIGH RATE OF FAILURE OF CAM PHASER(VCT)... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 42 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
WE ALWAYS TAKE OUR TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE.I HAD BEEN TELLING THE SERVICE ADVISOR FOR YEARS THAT WE HEARD AN AIR BUBBLE NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. THEY KEPT SAYING EVERYTHING IS FINE. AS SOON AS OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS OVER, THEY THEN SAID I HAD AN EXHAUST LEAK. I TOOK IT TO A 3RD PARTY MECHANIC AND IMMEDIATELY THEY WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE IT WAS BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS AND IS VERY COMMON IN F150'S. THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BOLTS BREAKING WHEN TRYING TO GET OUT, AND DUE TO FORD'S POOR DESIGN MORE THAN LIKELY WILL WARP AGAIN. THIS REPAIR COST IS OVER $1000 (FORD DEALER QUOTED $2165) AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY IF DEALER WOULD HAVE ADMITTED IT HAD LEAK WHEN WE MENTIONED THE SOUND BEFORE. THE 3RD PARTY MECHANIC SAID ANY MECHANIC SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE DISTINCT SOUND JUST BY HEARING IT FOR A FEW SECONDS. MANIFOLD LEAKS ARE APPARENTLY FAIRLY NORMAL IN TRUCKS HOWEVER ONCE AGAIN FORDS DESIGN MAKES IT MUCH MORE DIFFICULT THAN MOST OTHER TRUCK MAKES TO REPAIR, ADDING MUCH MORE ADDITIONAL COST TO THE CONSUMER. *TR
TRUCK REAR END SHAKES VIOLENTLY UPON ACCELERATION AT ANY SPEED OR FROM A STAND STILL. I HAD THE REAR END SERVICED AND HAD THE FLUID FLUSHED, BUT IT ONLY CORRECTED THE ISSUE FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. AS TIME GOES ON, THIS ISSUE ONLY WORSENS. FORD HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR A DEFECTIVE CLUTCH PACK(S) IN THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL, BUT NOT A RECALL. THIS MAKES THE VEHICLE FEEL UNSAFE AND MAKES ACCELERATION UNEASY, ESPECIALLY WHEN MERGING INTO MOVING TRAFFIC. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE ONTO A HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE SPUTTERED AND I WAS UNABLE TO GET UP TO SPEED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. FORTUNATELY I WAS ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND THE APPROACHING VEHICLES WERE ABLE TO AVOID ME BY PULLING INTO THE PASSING LANE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND A CORRODED FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE HESITATION. ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC, HE CATEGORIZED THE PROBLEM AS DEFECTIVE DESIGN. THE MODULE IS MOUNTED IN A AREA SUSCEPTIBLE TO CORROSION. THIS IS A RELATIVELY EASY FIX HOWEVER IN MY CASE THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER HAD TO CUT OFF TO ACCESS THE MODULE. *TR
AT 50,000 MILES , AND EARLIER, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. UPON TAKING THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE, AND NEEDED REPLACING. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME TO VENT. ON 05/16/2014 THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG BLEW-OUT OF THE HEAD CAUSING FUEL TO BE SPRAYED INTO THE THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THIS TRUNK. THE FIRST IS LISTED ON THE APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE OF THIS REPORT. SPARK PLUG BLOW-OUT SEEMS TO BE A CONSISTANT PROBLEM WITH THE FORD TRUCK ENGINES AND COULD POSE A PROBLEM OF A ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE, BREAK DOWNS ON BUSY INTERSTATES & HIGHWAYS, WRECKS AND FATALITIES FROM SUDDEN SLOW DOWNS BECAUSE OF ENGINE POWER LOSS WHILE TRAVELING OR BEING STRANDED ON ISOLATED ROADS. THESE ARE JUST SOME OF THE POSSIBILITIES THAT MAY HAPPEN (OR HAS HAPPENED TO OTHERS). FORD MOTOR MOTOR KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM BUT WON'T LISTEN TO THEIR CONSUMERS. ONLY THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRANSPORTATION AND SAFTY ADMINISTRATION CAN MAKE THEM AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SO THAT THEY WILL FIX IT. ALSO FROM TALKING WITH FORD CORPORATE AND FORD CONSUMER AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL ADDRESS THIS IS THROUGH A RECALL. CONTACTED FORD REGARDING A RECALL OF FORD 150S INCLUDING MY MODEL YEAR THAT INCLUDED A RISK OF AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE AIRBAG AND HORN ON MY F150 HAVE STOPPED WORKING, JUST AS IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, FORD SAYS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED, DESPITE AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT NHTSA REQUESTED A LARGER RECALL THAN FORD ISSUED, ONE THAT WOULD LIKELY HAVE INCLUDED MY VEHICLE. THIS IS WHY I'M ENTERING THE INFORMATION HERE. CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALER AND FORD CORPORATE, TOLD BY BOTH THAT I COULDN'T RECEIVE RECALL FIX. I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY WHEN I START THE VEHICLE, OR WONT DEPLOY WHEN I NEED IT IN AN ACCIDENT. *TR

TO TOW VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP HEAD MECHANIC CONFIRMED DRIVE SHAFT BROKE IN HALF DUE TO RUST. DRIVE SHAFT CRACKED IN HALF AT THE MIDDLE AND NOT AT THE U JOINTS HEAD MECHANIC CONFIRMED TO ME AND ALSO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK SAID ITS THE FIRST FOR THEM OF THE RUST AND BREAKAGE.MY ISSUE IS THAT I HAD A HARD TIME FINDING A DRIVE SHAFT AND WAS TOLD NOTHING IN STOCK THEY HAD TO MAKE ONE SPECIAL. I HAD TO PAY THE PRICE ALSO WAS GLAD I WAS NOT DRIVING ON THE HWY WITH MY GRAND KIDS. MY ISSUE IS THAT I BELIEVE THE DRIVE SHAFT WAS FAULTY NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE LIKE FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY WINDOW DISAPPEARED STARTLING ME. I HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR WHO WERE FRIGHTENED BY THE GUSH OF WIND. IT SURPRISED ME AND I WAS NOT CERTAIN WHAT HAPPENED MY WINDOW WAS JUST GONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE.THE WINDOW HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOOR. APPARENTLY AFTER MY RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT FORD HAS HAD MANY PROBLEMS WITH ITS WINDOW REGULATORS FAILING CAUSING THIS ISSUE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HOPE FOR BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE AND HARM IS DONE THAT FORD WILL OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE RECALL TO REPAIR THE WINDOW MECHANISM THAT FAILS. IF FORD DOES NOT DO ANYTHING THAN NHTSA SHOULD. *TR
I PURCHASED THE TRUCK USED WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 86,782 MILES. I WAS NOT TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SPARKPLUGS OR THAT THERE IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE SPARKPLUGS BREAKING. I ASSUMED THAT IF THERE WAS ANY ISSUE OF THIS NATURE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE TO DISCLOSE THIS PROBLEM ON THE PURCHASING AGREEMENT. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP LAST WEEK DUE TO THE WINDOW MOTOR SEIZING/BREAKING. I PAID FOR THE SERVICE TO REPAIR THAT ISSUE, WHICH IS ANOTHER PROBLEM AS WELL. DURING THAT VISIT I WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE SPARK PLUG PROBLEM, WHICH FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB REPORT ABOUT. THE PLUGS BECOME FUSED TO THE ENGINE BLOCK AT 100,000 MILES, AND I AM NOW AT 105,000 AND JUST FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS! THE PROBLEM THAT I AM EXPERIENCING IS THAT THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE AN ABSORBENT AMOUNT OF MONEY TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS, AND IF ANY BREAK, ITS AN EXTRA $100 TO REMOVE EACH BROKEN PLUG. THAT COULD POTENTIALLY BE AN ADDITIONAL $800 EXTRA TO CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY LUDICROUS FOR FORD TO CHARGE AN OWNER FOR SUCH A TASK! ALSO IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM OBVIOUSLY KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND NEGLECTED TO INFORM ME IN ANY FASHION. I AM CONSIDERING TAKING LEGAL ACTION AS I BELIEVE THE DEALER SHOULD BE LIABLE TO COVER THE COST OF THIS TASK, AS THEY DID NOT DISCLOSE THESE PROBLEMS THAT ACCORDING TO THE DEALER HAD TO BE ADDRESSED WITHIN 10,000 ADDITIONAL MILES. THAT IS A VERY SHORT AMOUNT OF MILES TO DRIVE FOR SUCH A MAJOR EXPENDITURE. I DO BELIEVE THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY A TYPICAL FEE FOR PARTS AND SERVICE TO REPLACE THE SPARKPLUGS AS THEY ARE A MAINTENANCE ITEM. HOWEVER, I BELIEVE THAT IF THE DEALER HAS ANY PROBLEM CHANGING THE SPARKPLUGS, IT SHOULD REST ON THEIR SHOULDERS TO COVER THOSE COSTS. *KB

IN ADDITION, THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE THE CONTACT WAS DESCRIBING WAS NOT AUDIBLE TO THE TECHNICIANS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A CASE WAS FILED (CLAIM NUMBER: CAS2248284-V1Y9N4). THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,366 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

THIS TRUCK HAS ONLY BEEN USED THREE TIMES IN FIVE MONTHS. IT WAS PARKED ON A PARKING PAD UNATTENDED FOR THREE DAYS AN 10 HOURS. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE 2004, NO SERIOUS ISSUES. THIS PAST FRIDAY I NOTICED POWER WAS STILL GOING TO MY TRUCK WHEN IT WAS TURNED OFF. THE POWER ACCESSORY RELAY WAS CLICKING VIGOROUSLY THEN STOPPED, NO POWER INSIDE MY VEHICLE. I STARTED THE TRUCK AND EVERYTHING WORKED EXCEPT FOR THE RADIO. I WENT FOR A DRIVE THAN AND THEN THE REVERSE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DOOR BUZZER WAS GOING OFF, AS I WENT TO STOP I HEARD A GRINDING NOISE OCCUR THAN STOPPED. WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME. I HAVE 30 YEARS OF MECHANIC EXPERIENCE AND TRIED TO FIND A POSSIBLE SHORT. WHEN I REMOVED THE PASSENGER SIDE ROCKER PANEL I FOUND THE HARNESS COVERED IN RUSTY WATER. NOW DOING RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS ISSUE, THAT FORD WONT COVER. IT TURNS OUT MANY PEOPLE HAD TO HAVE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED COSTING THOUSANDS. WHILE CONDUCTING MY RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND OUT WATER IS LEAKING THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD THE REAR WINDOW AND WIRING HARNESS THAT TRAVELS THROUGH THE FIREWALL. THE CLUTCH PACK IN THE DRIVEN TRAIN REAR DIFFERENTIALS LOCK UP WHEN TURNING CORNERS AND HOWLS WHEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD. THESE FAILURES ARE SO COMMON ON FORD TRUCK THAT FORD IS NOW ADDING FRICTION MODIFIERS TO THE REAR DIFFERENTIALS TO REAR THE PROBLEM AND AFTERMARKET SUPPLIERS ARE MAKING REPLACEMENTS FOR THE CLUTCH PACK LIKE DETROIT LOCKER TO ELIMINATE THE PROBLEM. THIS LOCK UP ON WINTER SURFACES CAUSE THE WHEELS TO LOOSE TRACTION INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR ACCIDENTS. THE HOWLING SOUND IS ALSO A DRAG ON THE DRIVE TRAIN COMPONENTS, REDUCING MPG AND CAPABILITY OF THE VEHICLE TO HANDLE ADVERSE CONDITIONS. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR SEVERAL YEARS AND HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM OR REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR THE COST OF REPAIR. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL CONCERNING WIRING HARNESS COULD CHAFE AND BREAK AND CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AFTER THE WIRING HARNESS WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUED TO STAY ON. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE HAD FAILED. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE WIRING BREAKING AND SHORTING CAUSED THE MODULE TO FAIL. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE MODULE EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL ITEM MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. *JB

WHILE MY TRUCK WAS BEING SERVICED, IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT I HAD A BROKEN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE COIL SPRING. THEIR WAS A 2 INCH PIECE OF COIL SPRING HANGING ON BY THE PLASTIC COVERING OF THE SPRING. THE PIECE WAS CORRODED, WHICH TELLS ME THAT IT HAD BEEN BROKEN FOR SOME TIME. ORIGINAL OWNER OF 2004 FORD F150 FX4. FROM STOP THE REAR END WILL VIBRATE AS I ACCELERATE. IT'S BEEN DOING IT FOR QUITE A WHILE. I BELIEVE IT STARTED AROUND 40000 MILES. I ONLY HAVE 54000 ON IT CURRENTLY. SO IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR AT LEAST 3 OR 4 YEARS. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON ISSUE. DOES SHOULD DEFINITELY FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY F150 WITH A 5.4 TRITON MOTOR. THE TRUCK HAS SOME VALVE TRAIN NOISE THAT I FEAR WILL GET WORSE AND CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FAIL. I FOUND THAT FORD ISSUED TWO DIFFERENT TSB'S RELATED TO THIS VERY PROBLEM WHICH ADVISED THEIR TECHNICIANS OF THE PROBLEM AND HOW TO FIX IT DOWN TO THE PARTS REQUIRED. IT WAS SUCH A PROBLEM THAT FORD UPDATED THE PARTS TO BE REPLACED IN MAY 2005 ACCORDING TO THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THE TSB ISSUED BY FORD. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS KIND OF VALVE TRAIN NOISE AT 75000 MILES. I FEEL FORD ONLY TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM FOR THOSE THAT COMPLAINED UNDER WARRANTY AND FORD SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX AN ENGINE PROBLEM THEY KNEW HAD FAULTY PARTS AND IS EVIDENT BY THEIR TSB RELEASES. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD, BUT MY COMPLAINT HAS FALLEN ON DEAF EARS. THEY WANT ME TO SINK $1500-$2000 INTO A FIX THAT I FEEL THEY KNEW ABOUT BUT CHOSE TO IGNORE. TRUCK WOULD NOT START EVEN THOUGH LIGHTS, DASH INDICATORS, & RADIO CAME ON. CHECKED UNDER HOOD & THEN PLACED IN NEUTRAL TO TRY & START. VEHICLE STARTED IN NEUTRAL. PLACED VEHICLE IN PARK AND UPON TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE, VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARD (IN REVERSE) ALMOST GOING OVER AN EMBANKMENT WHEN I SLAMMED BRAKES. VEHICLE SHIFT INDICATOR SHOWED IT IN PARK BUT, TRANSMISSION WAS ACTUALLY STILL IN REVERSE. COULD NOT GET SHIFT TO ENGAGE INTO PARK. PLACED VEHICLE INTO GARAGE WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE SECURED UNTIL COULD DETERMINE PROBLEM. RESEARCH INDICATED FORD HAD A RECALL (RECALL - #97V171000) FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE ON 1997-1998 MODELS ONLY. BUT, APPARENTLY IT IS STILL A PROBLEM ON LATER MODELS. COULD NOT FIND A RECALL ON 2004 MODEL. NOTE THAT THIS CONDITION ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
