SLOWING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE ENGINE FELL DEAD. I WAS ABLE TO START IT AND PULL OUT OF TRAFFIC BEFORE IT FELL DEAD AGAIN. NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER I FILL UP, THE ENGINE WAS HARD TO START. IT SPUTTERED AND STALLED AND FINALLY STARTED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING AND COULD CAUSE CRASHES IF NOT REPAIRED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE GROMMET HAD FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,100.
COOL MORNING TRUCK WAS FINE DAY BEFORE, BUT THIS AM STEERING WAS "HARD" LIKE TRUCK LOST IT'S "POWER" IN POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING LEVEL WAS ABOUT 1/4 INCH BELOW MIN SO I FILLED TO PROPER LEVEL. ( I JUST HAD IT AT DEALER AND FLUID WAS CHECKED "OK" TWO MONTHS PRIOR). A FEW DAYS LATER LEVEL HAD GONE DOWN A BIT SO I ADDED MORE STAYING BETWEEN MIN AND MAX LINES. NEXT COUPLE WEEKS POWER STEERING WOULD FADE IN AND OUT (AT ALL SPEEDS) AND WORKED WHENEVER IT WANTED TO. INTERMITTENT HARD TO TURN AND AT TIMES WORKED FINE. TOOK TO DEALER ON 4 30 14 (THIS DAY STEERING WAS WORKING FINE) AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A LEAKING POWER STEERING PRESSURE HOSE OPERATION 3719-A R&R 4.6L 2009. COST OUT OF POCKET ABOUT 390.44. I AM THE ONLY DRIVER OF THIS TRUCK AND I DRIVE LIKE AN OLD MAN CAUSE I AM AN OLDER MAN, LOTS OF TLC. SO WHY IN THE HECK WOULD THIS FAIL SO EARLY AT LESS THEN 70,000 MILES? RECALL NEEDED?? *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AFTER ONE HOUR AND OPERATED NORMALLY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT A TROUBLE CODE OR DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK TO FORD AND IT HAPPENS WHEN I,M PULLING IN TO PARK OR BACKING UP IN A SPACE TO PARK, THE TRUCKS ENGINE STARTS TO SHAKE AND THAN STALL, WHEN FORD PUT THE THING TO ATTACH UNDER YOUR STEERING WHEEL IT DID NOT SHOW ON THE SCREEN, I HAD A PRIVATE MECH. DO THE SAME THING AND HE COULD NOT FIND IT EITHER. I DO THINK THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE MY TRUCK HAS ALSO GONE DEAD IN THE ROAD WAITING FOR THE LIGHT TO CHANGE AND STALL...NOW IT IS HAPPENING A LOT , I TALK TO THE FORD DEALER A STATES THAT IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY . THE PROBLEM STARTED EVEN WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS STILL GOOD ON THE TRUCK. *TR
APPROACHING AN YELLOW LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH I HIT THE GAS PEDAL HARD FOR PASSING GEAR. THE ACCELERATOR STUCK, THE ENGINE ROARING, I HAD TO STEP AS HARD AS POSSIBLE TO STOP THE TRUCK SO I WOULD NOT HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. ENGINE WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING FORCING ME TO TURN OFF THE TRUCK. SHOCKED, I SAT IN TRAFFIC FOR A MOMENT BEFORE I RESTARTED THE ENGINE, BUT IT IMMEDIATELY WENT TO FULL SPEED AGAIN, FORCING ME TO AGAIN TURN OFF THE ENGINE. MY FRIEND CLIMBED OUT AND PUSHED ME OUT OF TRAFFIC. AFTER SITTING IN A PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES I AGAIN STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT STARTED NORMALLY. *JS
TRUCK STEERING "WENT OUT" AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED ON AND OFF. FOUND OUT IS WAS LOWER STEERING SHAFT, I HAD JUST REPLACED A POWER STEERING HOSE, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED. ANYWAY THE NEW LOWER STEERING SHAFT DID SOLVE THE PROBLEM (COST OF OVER $320.00 TO ME) BUT REALLY AT LESS THAN 70,000 MILES, AND A VERY CONSERVATIVE ONE MAN DRIVER A FAMILY TRUCK NOT BUSINESS TRUCK, NOT ROUGH! THE TRUCK IS PARKED OUTSIDE AND I DID NOTICE RECALLS FURTHER NORTH DUE TO COLD AND ROUGH WINTERS. I LIVE IN SE MICHIGAN AND PERHAPS THAT RECALL SHOULD HEAD SOUTH A BIT. TOTAL SPENDING WAS OVER 650.00 DOLLARS FOR BOTH JOBS. AN F150 WITH BIG STEERING PROBLEMS AND BIG COST WITH LESS THEN 70,000, NOT ANYONE'S IDEA OF "BUILT TOUGH". I HAVE BEEN BEHIND THE WHEEL OF MANY VEHICLES AND TRAVELED WELL OVER A MILLION MILES IN OVER 50 YEARS OF DRIVING AND I NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THESE PARTS. THERE IS A CONCERN HERE AS WHEN STEERING GOES SO DOES CONTROL OF TRUCK! JUNK OEM PARTS ????? RECALL NEEDED?? I THINK SO................ *TR
IN APRIL 2014 I NOTICED A VAST AMOUNT OF WATER COLLECTING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FLOOR. THERE WAS A LEAK COMING FROM THE SUNROOF DOWN THE HEADLINER AND THROUGH THE POST TO THE FLOOR. I INSPECTED THE SUNROOF AND FOUND THE DRIP PAN TO BE WET. I POURED A LITTLE WATER THROUGH THE DRAIN HOSE AND IT DID NOT GO THROUGH. I BROUGHT IT TO FORD FOR REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DRAIN HOSE WAS KINKED AND WAS LIKE THAT FROM THE FACTORY. THEY CUT THE DRAIN HOSE TO THE CORRECT LENGTH AND ADJUSTED THE SUNROOF. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE VEHICLES EXTENDED WARRANTY DID NOT COVER IT. I PAID OUT OF POCKET $210. FAST FORWARD TO DECEMBER 10, 2014, WHEN I NOTICED WATER COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT ASSIST HANDLE. I WENT TO FORD FOR SERVICE AND MENTIONED THIS TO THE SERVICE TECH AND WAS TOLD THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS A SUNROOF WAS EXPERIENCING THIS DUE TO THE HEAVY RAIN. THIS MORNING DECEMBER 17TH, I NOTICED WATER IN THE SAME AREA COMING FROM THE HANDLE. I CHECKED THE SUNROOF AND DID NOT FIND THE PAN TO BE WET. I CALLED FORD AND ADVISED THEM, AND THEY TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN DECEMBER 22ND FOR ANOTHER WATER TEST. THEY ALSO ADVISED ME THAT THIS WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, SO I WILL AGAIN HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS TRUCK HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT AND IT CAN'T BE DRIVEN IN RAIN. THE SAD PART IS THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS AND DOES NOTHING TO FIX THEM. *TR

STEERING SHAFT AFTER ONLY 48,000 MILES OF ON ROAD DRIVING WAS WORN OUT TO THE EXTENT THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN ONE LANE AND TO NEGOTIATE TURNS WITH ANY DEGREE OC CONFIDENCE . A SEARCH OF FORD FORUMS INDICATE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS SAME TYPE OF ISSUE AS WELL AS BINDING IN THE STEERING COLUMN LIKELY DUE TO FAILURE OF THIS SAME PART. *TR
ACCELERATING ON INTERSTATE ON RAMP TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. ACCELERATOR STUCK AND VEHICLE SPEED INCREASED. HAD TO HEAVILY APPLY BRAKES TO STOP, PUT IN NEUTRAL, ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV, SHUT TRUCK OFF. ABOUT A MINUTE AFTER STOPPING, A LOUD POP WAS HEARD IN CAB (ACCELERATOR UNSTICKING??). TURNED TRUCK ON, NORMAL ACCELERATION FOLLOWED. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY OCCURRENCE. *TR
MICHELIN TIRES CRACKING IN THE TREADS ON ALL TIRES. MICHELIN NOT FOLLOWING THEIR PUBLISHED WARRANTY IN PRO-RATING FOR ADJUSTMENT. TIRES WITH 58 TO 67% TREAD LEFT AND MICHELIN RELUCTANTLY AGREED TO A 35% ADJUSTMENT. DEALER AND CUSTOMER WERE TOLD "IF THE CRACK CANNOT BE SPREAD OPEN AND SEE LINING, IT IS A COSMETIC CRACK". *TR
THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT "ALL CARS" THAT COME EQUIPPED WITH THESE NEW STYLE BRIGHT WHITE / BLUE HEADLIGHT BULBS. AND THE ENTIRE SECONDARY MARKET WHERE PEOPLE CAN PURCHASE THESE LIGHT BULBS TO REPLACE THEIR EXISTING HEADLIGHT BULBS. THE PROBLEM IS THE AT NIGHT THEY ARE DO [XXX] BRIGHT, I CAN'T TELL IF THEY ARE ON LOW OR HIGH BEAMS, I'M CONSTANTLY FLASHING MY HIGH BEAMS TO THESE CARS. THIS PAST WEEK ONE WAS SO BRIGHT THAT I COULDN'T SEE AND ALMOST DROVE OFF THE ROAD..... THEY SHOULD BE TAKEN "OFF THEM MARKET", OR AT LEAST LIMIT THE BRIGHTNESS OR HAVE A STANDARD BRIGHTNESS (A MAXIMUM THAT HAS BEEN TESTED ON REAL PEOPLE AT NIGHT). THEY HAVE CAUSED OR TRIGGERED ME TO HAVE AN OCULAR MIGRAINE IN MY LEFT EYE, WHICH MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE AT NIGHT, SOME PEOPLE WHEN THEY HAVE OCULAR MIGRAINES TRIGGERED FROM BRIGHT LIGHTS HAVE THE MIGRAINE IN THE MIDDLE OF THEY EYE AND CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING. I'M TELLING YOU SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE, IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY. IF IT HAS HAPPENED ALREADY, NO ONE PROBABLY KNOWS WHY THE ACCIDENT HAPPENED, BECAUSE NO ONE IS ASKING THE QUESTION ABOUT THESE DANGEROUS HEADLAMPS. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC. I HAVE A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR THERE'S A HUMMING SOUND THE FASTER I GO THE LOUDER THE NOISE GETS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMBINATION LOCK AND KEY FOB FAILED TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE BUT WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE SINCE THE TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN INSTRUCTED THAT AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY, HE SHOULD REMOVE THE POSITIVE CHARGE CABLE FROM THE BATTERY AND PUT IT BACK, IN ORDER TO RE-START THE COMPUTER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE HOWEVER, HE STATED THAT THERE WAS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE BODY MODULE AND THE COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,500.
KUHMO ROAD VENTURA TIRE BLEW WHILE DRIVING IN A NEIGHBORHOOD LESS THAN 25 MILES PER HOUR. TIRE SIDEWALL BLEW OUT CREATING A HUGE OPEN HOLE IN THE TIRE SAW OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME TIRE AND PICTURES LOOKED THE SAME. *TR
ON OR ABOUT AUG & 2013 THE VEHICLE MENTION ABOVE WOULD START AND THEN STALL . I TOOK THE FORD F150 TO PALM BAY FORD IN PALM BAY FL. I WAS VISITING MY STEPSON AT THE TIME. I AM FORM GA. THE FORD DEALER HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. ON FEB 7 2014 THE SAME THING HAPPEN. THIS TIME THEY TOWED THE FORD TO THERE PLACE FROM MY STEPSONS HOME. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 3 DAYS. AND FINALLY SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE HAD FAILED. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THEY WOULD NOT KNOW THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPEN. THEY CHARGED ME 652.09 FOR THE REPAIR. I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON THIS HAS HAPPEN TO. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF THIS MODULE FAILED WHEN I WAS ON INTERSTATE 95. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AND ACCIDENT OR WORSE. FORD SHOULD RECALL THIS DEVICE BECAUSE OF THE FAILURE OF THE MODULE AND WHERE IS PLACED(UNDER THE SPARE TIRE) AND THE TWO DIFFERENT METALS THAT CAUSE CORROSION. *TR
FROM A STOP, I RAPIDLY ACCELERATED TO 40 MPH. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT RED LIGHT I HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE BRAKE FORCE TO STOP. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT HIGH RPM WITH FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR. I HAD TO TURN OFF IGNITION TO PREVENT GOING INTO INTERSECTION. THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER I WAS ON HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH AND SET CRUISE. I TOOK MY EXIT, PRESSED ON BRAKE TO TURN OFF CRUISE. THE EXIT SPEED WAS 45 MPH. I WAS NOT SLOWING DOWN AND PRESSED BRAKES VERY HARD TO REDUCE SPEED. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RACING HIGH SPEED AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. I HAD TO PLACE TRANS. IN NEUTRAL AND SWITCH OFF IGNITION. AFTER STARTING ENGINE AGAIN RPM IDLE WAS NORMAL AND PROBLEM DID NOT RE-OCCUR ALL THE WAY HOME. ON 7/25/13 I TURNED IN TRUCK TO HOMER SKELTON FORD IN OLIVE BRANCH, MS. WITH A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT TO SERVICE PERSONNEL TO INSPECT OR REPAIR VEHICLE. (THIS WAS A FIRST EVENT SINCE OCT. 2012) I FOUND A CODE C1963 IN COMPUTER USING CAR MD AND LOADED DEFECT ONTO WEB SITE FOR MY RECORDS. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHOOK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. UPDATED 8/22/13 *CN THE TRACK BAR WAS REPLACED WITH OEM PARTS. ALL OF THE BALL JOINTS AND SHOCKS WERE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED, INCLUDING BALANCING. THE TRUCK WAS ALIGNED AND THE TIRES HAVE THE SAME AND PROPER AIR PRESSURE. THE TRUCK WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE EVERY TIME IT HIT ANY KIND OF SMALL BUMP. IT HAPPENED EVERY COUPLE OF MILES. THE SHAKING WAS SO BAD, IT FELT AS THOUGH, THE TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT. THE ONLY THING, THE CONSUMER COULD DO WAS STOP.
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, I LEFT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO SLOW DOWN TO 45 MPH THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT AHEAD. AT 45 MPH, I SLIGHTLY TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR TO MAINTAIN THE 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE RPM'S WENT OVER 4000 AND WOULD NOT STOP. I APPLIED THE BRAKE, BUT THE ENGINE KEPT THE RPM'S BETWEEN 4000 AND 4200. I STOMPED ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET AND THE UN-INTENDED ACCELERATION STAYED AT THE HIGHER RPM. I COULD HEAR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE TO HELP SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN, BUT THE ENGINE LABORED OVER 4000 RPM. I WAS CONCERNED WITH NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP THE TRUCK, SO I SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE BERM OF THE ROAD WITH THE ENGINE STAYING AT A VERY HIGH RPM. ONCE I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, I SHIFTED THE TRUCK INTO PARK AND THE RPM'S WERE OVER 6000. I IMMEDIATELY SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS BEFORE TRYING TO RE-START THE TRUCK. I CHECKED THE CONDITION OF THE FLOOR MAT ASAP TO VERIFY IT WAS NOT ON TOP OF THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAPPENED TO MY WIFE LESS THAN A YEAR AGO AND NOTHING WAS FOUND AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THE OGC REVIEWS SUGGESTED THAT THE FLOOR MAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FIRST UN-INTENDED ACCELERATION. AS I TURNED THE KEY, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START AND IT MADE A CLICKING NOISE. I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK THE MOTOR. I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING, SO I WENT BACK INTO THE CAB AND STARTED THE TRUCK. IT STARTED, BUT WOULD NOT IDLE, THE RPM'S WENT TO OVER 6000 AND STAYED CONSTANT. I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AGAIN AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND ON THE THIRD ATTEMPT, I SHUT THE TRUCK BACK OFF, BECAUSE THE RPM'S WOULD NOT IDLE AND WENT TO 6000 AND STAYED THERE. I ADJUSTED THE POWER ADJUSTABLE FOOT PEDALS AND WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND THE TRUCK STARTED AND IDLED AT NORMAL RPM'S. TRAVELING AT 65 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AS ANOTHER VEHICLE MERGED ON TO THE FREEWAY I FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR TO AVOID A COLLISION,THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AT A VERY HIGH RATE OF SPEED (85 TO 90MPH),TAPPING THE BRAKES HAD NO EFFECT,DISENGAGING THE CRUISE HAD NO EFFECT,TURNED THE IGNITION OFF IN NEUTRAL FOR APROX 4 SECONDS HAD NO EFFECT,CRUISE FINALLY DISENGAGED AFTER SHUTTING THE VEHICLE OFF IN NEUTRAL FOR APROX 10 SECONDS. *TR
I BOUGHT A PREOWNED 2009 FORD F-150 IN NOVEMBER 2011 WITH 49000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAD ALWAYS COMPLAINED THE INSTRUMENT GAUGES WERE DIFFICULT TO SEE. I FINALLY INVESTIGATED AND REALIZED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS NOT ILLUMINATED UNDER DAYLIGHT CONDITIONS. IT IS ONLY ILLUMINATED WHEN THE PARKING LIGHTS OR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON. THE ONLY WAY TO GET ILLUMINATION DURING DAYLIGHT IS TO COVER THE LIGHT SENSOR THUS SIMULATING DARKNESS. THIS,HOWEVER, ONLY ILLUMINATES THE GAUGES AT THE LOWER SETTING FOR NIGHTTIME DRIVING. THE DIMMER KNOB/WHEEL IS OPERATIONAL BUT DOES NOT INCREASE ILLUMINATION TO THE LEVEL EXPECTED FOR DAYLIGHT DRIVING. THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS WEBSITE REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE SEVERAL OTHER LIKE COMPLAINTS ON OTHER WEBSITES. THE DEALER TECH WAS HELPFUL, BUT UPON CHECKING WITH FORD, WAS TOLD THE VEHICLE WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY. I FIND THAT TO BE LUDICROUS. FOR INSTANCE, TODAY, ON A SUNNY MORNING, WHEN DRIVING TOWARD THE EAST AT 10:00 AM IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO READ THE GAUGES! HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE? *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE SHIFTED INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE BACKING. COULD BE VERY DANGEROUSE IN A PARKING LOT OR AREA WHERE OTHER VEHICLES OR PEOPLE ARE PRESENT. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING UP A SMALL HILL. I REACHED 30MPH AND STOPPED ACCELERATING. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE SLOWLY AT AROUND 2000RPMS AFTER I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. I SHIFTED THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS SLOWLY INCREASED AS IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER LOAD. I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR AND THEY SURGED UP TO 4000 WHERE THEY WERE CAPPED BY THE COMPUTER. I USED MY BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF. I WAITED A FEW SECONDS AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THE TACHOMETER SHOWED 1000RPMS AND THEN DOWN TO 700-800RPMS. I CONTINUED HOME. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 OTHER TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM STILL TROUBLESHOOTING THE PROBLEM, BUT IT IS NOT CAUSED BY FLOORMATS AND I HAVE RULED OUT THE CRUISE CONTROL BEING PART OF THE ISSUE. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, I ENGAGED/DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL WHILE THE TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE WITH NO CHANGE IN BEHAVIOR. IT APPEARS TO BE MECHANICAL TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION SOMEHOW. IT IS A DIFFICULT PROBLEM TO REPLICATE AND DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TRIP. I AM GOING TO INSPECT/CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND CLEAN THE MASS AIR INTAKE SENSOR. I HAVEN'T EVER HAD A VEHICLE ACT THIS WAY AND THINK THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE TO TURN A VEHICLE OFF TO RESET IT. LOSING POWER-STEERING/BRAKES IS THE PROBLEM WITH DOING THIS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WAY. *TR
I WAS PULLING MY BOAT, WHEN COMING TO A STOP, TO PARK THE TRUCK, IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I HAD TO TURN OFF THE KEY TO STOP IT. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE AROUND TO BLOCK AND COME BACK TO MAKE ANOTHER STOP AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I AGAIN TURNED OFF THE KEY. I LET THE TRUCK SET FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND RESTARTED IT WITH NO OTHER INCIDENTS. I AM VERY AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER WHEN I GOT HOME AND THEY SAY THEY CANNOT FIND ANY PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER ATTEMPTING TO DIS-ENGAGE THE CHILD SAFETY DOOR LOCK FEATURE THAT PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED FROM THE INSIDE, BOTH THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE DOOR LATCHES BECAME COMPLETELY INOPERATIVE PREVENTING THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED AT ALL. I NOTED A SIMILAR COMPLAINT FILED ON THE NHTSA SITE (COMPLAINT #10489372.) WHEN I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR I WAS TOLD THAT THE NEW VEHICLE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED TWO MONTHS PRIOR (MARCH, 2013) AND WAS THEREFORE FORCED TO PAY NEARLY $400 FOR A NEW DOOR LATCH. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS ISSUE AS AN INOPERATIVE DOOR LATCH POSES A VERY HIGH RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH IF OCCUPANTS ARE UNABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. *TR
AFTER THE ONBOARD COMPUTER SYSTEM DETECTED A FAULT FROM THE ABS SENSORS (REAR WHEELS WERE 17" AND FRONTS WERE 18" SO REARS TURNED FASTER THAN FRONTS), THE DRIVE-BY-WIRE (ACCELERATION) SOFTWARE SUDDENLY LIMITED ME TO THE SPEED AT WHICH I WAS TRAVELING AT THE TIME: 50MPH. EVEN THOUGH I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR, I GOT NO FURTHER ACCELERATION. LIGHTS AND WARNINGS ON THE DASH INDICATED AN ABS AND BRAKE PROBLEM; THERE WERE NO SUCH PROBLEMS. AT THE TIME OF THE "OVERRIDE", I WAS ABOUT TO MERGE INTO FREEWAY TRAFFIC TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 20MPH FASTER THAN I WAS MOVING THUS LEADING TO THE PROBABILITY OF A REAR END COLLISION. I MOVED CLOSER TO THE SHOULDER AND (WILD GUESS) PUSHED THE BUTTON FOR SKID CONTROL (?)--TWO SQUIGGLY LINES ON THE BUTTON. HAD THE OVERRIDE OCCURRED 4-5 SECONDS LATER, I WOULD LIKELY HAVE BEEN INJURED. I HAD INSTALLED 18" WHEELS ON THE FRONT WITH THE INTENT OF INSTALLING 18" WHEELS ON THE BACK THE NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE CAME WITH 17" WHEELS. I HAD DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES WITH THAT 18-17 CONFIGURATION BEFORE I EXPERIENCED THE WARNINGS AND CORRESPONDING SPEED LIMITATION. DRIVE-BY-WIRE MEANS DRIVE-BY-SOFTWARE. SOMEONE MADE MY DRIVING DECISIONS FOR ME AND THOSE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN MY INJURY OR DEATH. VEHICLE TESTING CAN NO LONGER CENTER ON PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS ONLY. TRUE SAFETY TESTING MUST INCLUDE AN ASSESSMENT OF THE "SAFETY" SOFTWARE WHERE DRIVE-BY-WIRE SYSTEMS ARE USED. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON 2/25/2013 FROM CARMAX; 43,124 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO PRIOR HISTORY OF ACCIDENT OR MAJOR REPAIR. *TR
JUST GOT ONTHE EXPRESSWAY FROM THE ON RAMP AND HAD SPEED UP FASTER DUE TO ON-COMING TRAFFIC NOT SLOWING. I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND ACCELERATED. TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS BUT KEPT GOING FASTER. I USED BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN BUT THE ENGINE KEPT ACCELERATING. I TOOK RIGHT FOOT AND STOMPED THE GAS PEDAL AND RELEASED IT. THAT GOT THE PEDAL UNSTUCK AND I RETURNED TO A SAFER SPEED. POWER STEERING HOSE IS LEAKING FLUID. MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE STATED THAT THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND FULFILLMENT OF A REPLACEMENT ORDER WILL TAKE ANYWHERE FROM SEVERAL WEEKS TO ALMOST A YEAR BASED ON PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES THEY'VE HAD. THEY ALSO STATED THAT FORD ORDERED DEALERS TO STOP SELLING ANY HOSES THEY CURRENTLY HAVE IN INVENTORY. DEALERS HAVE ALL STATED THAT I SHOULD KEEP AN EYE ON FLUID LEVEL, KEEP DRIVING IT, AND HOPE IT DOESN'T GET WORSE OR FAIL COMPLETELY. *TR
WHEN ENGAGED, THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON THE FORD F150 2009 CAUSES THE DOOR TO NOT HAVE THE CAPABILITY OF BEING OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE PURPOSE OF THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK IS TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED (BY CHILDREN) FROM THE INSIDE ONLY. THE INABILITY OF THE DOOR BEING ABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE PRESENTS A GRAVE RISK OF DANGER IF THIS VEHICLE IS ENGAGED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHICH WOULD PREVENT EMERGENCY PERSONNEL OR ANY OTHER PERSONNEL FROM BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY OPEN THE DOOR POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE, MY FORD F150 2009 PICKUP TRUCK IS A FOUR DOOR CREW CAB MODEL. WHEN I ENGAGED THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME DURING OWNERSHIP (12/16/2012), THE DOOR HANDLE IMMEDIATELY WOULD NOT WORK FROM BOTH THE INSIDE (AS EXPECTED) AS WELL AS THE OUTSIDE. I CURRENTLY HAVE THREE CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF FOUR WHICH ARE SITUATED IN CAR SEATS (AS REQUIRED BY LAW) IN THE CREW CAB SECTION OF MY TRUCK. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY, GREAT CONCERN EXISTS FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AS WELL AS THE CHILDREN OF FELLOW, UNKNOWLEDGEABLE OR UNSUSPECTING FORD F150 TRUCK OWNERS THAT THIS SAFETY DEFECT EXISTS. TOOK MY VEHICLE FOR IN FOR ANNUAL SAFETY INSPECTION. FAILED DUE TO LEAKING LOWER POWER STEERING HOSE. UNABLE TO OBTAIN REPLACEMENT FROM FORD DUE TO BACKORDER - APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON FAILURE FOR THIS PART IN THESE VEHICLES. FORD STATED THAT THEY WON'T HAVE ANY AVAILABLE UNTIL 22 OCT SO I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH A FAILED VEHICLE SAFETY STICKER UNTIL THEN. AMAZED THAT THIS OCCURRED ON A VEHICLE THAT'S ONLY 3 YEARS OLD, AND SUBJECTED TO LIGHT DUTY THE ENTIRE TIME. VEHICLE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO WILL COST ME $600 TO REPLACE (NEW HOSE IS $200 ALONE!). THIS IS MY 5TH AND LAST FORD. *TR
I WAS ENTERING AN ON-RAMP ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND ACCELERATING AT THE TIME. AS I WAS NEARING THE END OF THE RAMP, I FELT THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING FASTER THAN I HAD INTENDED. I REMOVED MY FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR ONLY TO HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING AND WATCHED THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUE TO CLIMB. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 80-85 MPH BY THE TIME I WAS ENTERING THE INTERSTATE APPROACHING A TRACTOR TRAILER TRUCK. I STOOD WITH BOTH FEET, STRAIGHT LEGGED WITH 130 POUNDS ON THE BRAKE WHILE NOT ONLY TRYING TO AVOID THE TRACTOR TRAILER IN FRONT OF ME, BUT WATCHING ANOTHER TRACTOR TRAILER APPROACHING ME FROM BEHIND. MY SPEED CONTINUED TO CLIMB AS THE ACCELERATOR REMAINED STUCK. AFTER APPROXIMATELY HALF A MILE OF ME STANDING ON THE BRAKE, I HEARD A LOUD BANG AS THE ACCELERATOR LET GO AND MY BRAKING TOOK EFFECT. I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST FORD DEALERSHIP WHO "COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THE PEDDLE MUST HAVE BEEN STUCK ON THE FLOORMAT". AS I WAS NOT SATISFIED, I THEN TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT ONLY TO BE TOLD THE SAME THING. AS THE PERSON DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I CAN ASSURE YOU, IT WASN'T STUCK ON THE FLOORMAT. THE SAME THING OCCURRED TO MY HUSBAND AS HE ACCELERATED TO PASS A VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THE PERIOD OF ACCELERATION DID NOT LAST AS LONG AS THIS LAST EPISODE. BOTH DEALERSHIPS WERE MADE WELL AWARE OF BOTH INCIDENTS. *TR
DROPPED OFF VEHICLE WITH FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISER AND PROCEEDED TO WAITING AREA. VEHICLE HAD A STEADY YELLOW ENGINE LIGHT INDICATING SERVICE IS REQUIRED. FIVE MINUTES LATER, LOUD ENGINE RACING NOISE, TIRES SQUEALING AND CRASH IMPACT SOUND FROM SERVICE BAY AREA. KNOWING IT WAS MY TRUCK, I WENT OUT TO THE SERVICE BAY TO SEE IT SLAMMED THROUGH THE FAR STONE WALL, ABOUT 75 FEET FROM THE SERVICE DESK. HYDRAULIC FLUID WAS ALL OVER THE FLOOR, OUTSIDE AND INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. SERVICE ADVISER WAS STUNNED AND CRAWLED OUT OF VEHICLE CLAIMING IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND HE COULD NOT PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK AS THE ENGINE RACED AT FULL RPM. SERVICE ADVISER WAS SENT TO HOSPITAL. FORD SERVICE MANAGER WAS CONCERNED AND AGREED TO CHECK ENGINE CODES, HE TALKED LIKE HE'D SEEN THIS HAPPEN BEFORE. ALL SERVICE ENGINEERS WERE CONCERNED ABOUT SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION THEY ALL WITNESSED AS THE TRUCK MIRACULOUSLY BARRELED THROUGH THE SERVICE BAYS WITHOUT HITTING ANY OF THE WORKERS. LATER IN THE DAY, I RETURNED TO CHECK STATUS AND EVERYONE AT DEALERSHIP CHANGED THEIR STORY. THEY WILL NOT TELL ME WHY THE TRUCK ACCELERATED LIKE IT DID, BUT WILL NOT ADMIT THERE WAS HUMAN ERROR EITHER. *TR
