TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT RECENTLY PURCHASED A BRAND NEW VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS FAILING. THE BRAKE PEDAL MUST BE DEPRESSED WITH GREAT FORCE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN A REAR END CRASH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 202. UPDATED 09/01/09 *BF
TIRE BLOWOUT BRAND: HANKOOK MODEL: DYNAPRO AS MADE: KOREA DOT: T79C PJNH 4008 I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THESE TIRES, WHILE DRIVING HOME MY FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT ON MY 2009 FORD F150 TRUCK CAUSING ME TO HIT THE SIDE MEDIAN WHICH THEN CAUSED MY TRAILER TIRE TO BLOW OUT AND BENT MY TRAILER TIRES RIM AS WELL. WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED MY TRUCK ONLY HAD A LITTLE OVER 3000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER AND THEY ARGUED THAT SOME ONE CUT IT. WHEN I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER TIRE SHOP BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED AT IT THEY SAID THAT THE RIM ON THE TIRE HAD CAUSED THE CUT. AND IT INDEED WAS FORDS FAULT. I REPLACED THE TIRE AND BOUGHT A NEW ONE FROM DISCOUNT TIRE. SAME BRAND SAME MODEL SO IT WOULD MATCH. TODAY ON JAN 14 2010 I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, WHEN THEY ROTATED MY TIRES THE NEW TIRE I BOUGHT HAD A MASSIVE BALL ON THE INSIDE OF IT. THE NEW TIRE ONLY HAD 3000 MILES OF WEAR. THESE TIRES ARE THE STOCK TIRES THAT FORD HAS BEEN USING ON THEIR F-150 SERIES SINCE 2007 AND PROBABLY LONGER. I HAD A SET OF THESE TIRES ON MY 2007 F-150 AND AT 9000 MILES THEY STARTED FORMING BALLS ON THE TIRES, AND THE FRONT TIRES BEGAN TO CUP OUTWARD. BOTH TRUCKS I HAVE PURCHASED FROM SPIKES FORD IN MISSION TEXAS. WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLES THEY CAME WITH TIRE ROAD HAZARD WARRANTY WHEN I TOOK IT TO FORD THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND WOULD NOT COVER ANYTHING. IN MY OPINION THESE PROBLEMS ON TWO SEPARATE VEHICLES TWO YEARS APART ARE A FIRESTONE HAZARD IN THE MAKING. I LIKE FORD VEHICLES BUT WHEN SOMEONE STARTS PUTTING MY LIFE AND OTHERS IN DANGER I CANT TOLERATE THAT. I KNOW THAT IF THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES WITH TWO DIFFERENT F-150S FROM TWO DIFFERENT YEARS IT HAS OCCURRED TO OTHERS AS WELL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. DURING RAINY CONDITIONS, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM VIEWING THE SPEEDOMETER. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS WOULD ONLY ILLUMINATE AT A SPECIFIC RANGE OF DARKNESS OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE ADJUSTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 600. WHEN ADJUSTED ACCORDING TO THE OWNERS MANUAL, HEAD RESTS FORCE THE HEAD TOWARDS THE CHIN AND ARE VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS THE NEW SAFETY DESIGN. HEADRESTS ARE NON ADJUSTABLE. ALSO, THEY ARE VERY WIDE AND, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE FRAME POST AT THE REAR OF THE DOORS, CREATE A BLIND SPOT ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PICKUP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 40 TO 50 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE EXCESSIVELY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE DURING A TEST DRIVE; HOWEVER, THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE RELATED TO THE FRAME ASSEMBLY. THE ZONE MANAGER AND THE FIELD ENGINEER FROM FORD ALSO TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIBRATION OCCURRED AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AT 300 MILES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 8,600.
I WAS INVOLVED IN A LOW SPEED FRONTAL COLLISION WITH MY 2009 FORD F150 PICK UP. THE COLLISION WAS OFF CENTER LEFT WITH ANOTHER FORD F150 (1993-1994 MODEL). THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLES WAS LESS THAN 40 MPH AS THE COLLISION HAPPENED ON A HILLY AND TWISTING ROAD. MY VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE ON IMPACT AND WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN JUST OVER A MINUTE. MY DRIVERS DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AND I HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. MY WIFE AND I WERE NOT INJURED AS THE AIR BAGS AND SEAT BELTS WORKED PROPERLY. WE NEVER MADE CONTACT WITH THE AIR BAGS AND SUSTAINED NO SEAT BELT BRUISING OR OTHER INJURIES. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING ON A RAMP TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC THE TRUCK ACCELERATOR PEDAL GOT STUCK CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GAIN SPEED RAPIDLY. THE TRUCK WENT FROM APPROX 25 TO 87MPH. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PEDAL UN-STUCK. THE BRAKES AND EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD LITTLE EFFECT, I NARROWLY MISSED HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO SLOW DOWN FOR A FEW MILES. I EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO SLOW IT TO 30MPH AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE TO MAKE IT STOP COMPLETELY. IT HAS OCCURRED ONCE (AND THAT IS ENOUGH). I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS LATER ADVISED THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO I COULD COME PICK THE TRUCK UP. NOTHING HAS BEEN FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F150. WHEN STOPPED ON A HILL THE VEHICLE DOES NOT GO FORWARD IT ROLLS BACKWARDS AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES AND WAS GIVEN A LETTER STATING THIS WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. HE ADDED THAT THE FAILURE WAS PROGRAMMED INTO THE COMPUTER SO NO REPAIRS COULD BE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000. THE CONSUMER STATED 1ST GEAR WOULD BECOME INOPERABLE AFTER STOPPING AND TRYING TO TAKE OFF. THE ENGINE WOULD REV AS IF THE GEAR WERE IN NEUTRAL. UPDATED 02/11/10.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH, THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE FAILURE WAS IGNORED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS EVENTUALLY TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO FAILURE CODES OBTAINED FROM A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY WHENEVER THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS OCCUPIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,600.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE HEADRESTS WERE NOT ADJUSTABLE AND CONSTANTLY STRUCK HIM IN THE BACK OF THE NECK. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THIS WAS A NEW DESIGN FOR SAFETY. HE WAS CONCERNED THAT HIS NECK COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED DUE TO THE AIR BAGS IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 3,000.
I HAVE HAD NO ANSWER TO MY CONCERN. I PURCHASED A NEW 2009 FORD XLT FOUR DOOR EXTENDED CAB PICKUP IN FEBRUARY. IN APRIL 2009, I NOTICED THAT THE INSIDE DASH LIGHTS (GAUGES, SPEEDOMETER, ETC.) CAME ON ONLY WHEN IT WAS VERY DARK OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. THIS IS TRUE WHETHER THE LIGHT SWITCH IS IN THE MANUAL OR THE AUTOMATIC POSITION. THE DASH LIGHTS WILL NOT RESPOND WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED IN THE MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC POSITION UNLESS IT IS VERY DARK OUTSIDE OR YOU PLACE YOUR FINGER OVER THE ELECTRIC EYE. THE FORD DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AGREED THAT THE DASH LIGHTS SHOULD ILLUMINATE WHENEVER THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AND KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR FIVE DAYS TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY FINALLY GOT HOLD OF THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY HOT LINE AND WERE TOLD THAT THE CURRENT LIGHTING SYSTEM FOR THIS VEHICLE IS A RESULT OF A PROGRAMMING CHANGE MADE BY THE COMPANY FOR 2009. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION TO MY CONCERN WOULD RESULT AS A PROBABLE RECALL FOR ALL OF THE VEHICLES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IN LATE MAY 2009, I CALLED THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND RELATED THE ABOVE-STATED CONCERN. THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND COURTEOUS AND INDICATED THAT HE WOULD FORWARD THIS INFORMATION TO APPROPRIATE DEPARTMENTS WITHIN THE FORD ORGANIZATION. HOWEVER, HE DID NOT FEEL THAT I WOULD BE GETTING ANY RESPONSES. I UNDERSTAND THE YOUNG MAN'S DILEMMA (IT'S A TECHNICAL PROBLEM WHICH NEEDS A TECHNICAL INPUT). I AM STILL WONDERING WHETHER A FORD COMPANY PROGRAMMING CHANGE IS THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM OR IF MY CONCERN IS JUSTIFIED. I BELIEVE THERE ARE SOME SAFETY ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED, I.E. SHOULDN'T YOU BE ABLE TO TELL IF YOUR HEADLIGHTS ARE ON BY GLANCING AT YOUR DASH LIGHTS DURING DAYLIGHT STORM CONDITIONS? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD F-150. WHILE PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE STEERING COLUMN LOCKED TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ALMOST STRUCK A PEDESTRIAN. THE VEHICLE CRASHED AND THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGES TO THE CAB, TIRES, AND SEATING AREA. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND INSPECTED BY A TECHNICIAN, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INSURANCE AGENT, WHO IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE FAILURE AND REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. MY 2009 FORD F-150 HAS THE REVERSE SENSING SYSTEM AND CAMERA AS WELL AS THE SYNC PACKAGE, SO WHEN IN REVERSE THE SCREEN SHOWS THE OBJECTS BEHIND AND HAS PARALLEL LINES "TRUCK WIDTH" & A CENTER BLACK LINE TO JUDGE WHERE THE TRUCK IS "AIMED" IN REVERSE. ON THE ABOVE DATE, ALL THE LINES DISAPPEARED FROM THE SCREEN. THE NEXT DAY THE TWO LINES (1/3 GREEN,1/3 ORANGE, 1/3 RED WERE BACK ON THE SCREEN AS WAS THE BLACK CENTER LINE. THAT EVENING AS I LEFT WORK I CHECKED, NO LINES AGAIN. SAME THING THE NEXT DAY, THEY ARE THERE ONCE OR TWICE IN AM, THEN DISAPPEAR. NOT A SHOW STOPPER PROBLEM, BUT MAKES BACKING UP WITH THE CAMERA A LOT MORE DIFFICULT. PLAN TO APPROACH DEALER ON THIS, BUT HOW DO I SHOW THEM THE PROBLEM IF I CAN'T "MAKE IT HAPPEN", HOPEFULLY I'LL GET LUCKY!!! IF SOMEONE HAS HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SYNC COMPUTER SYSTEM, MAYBE THERE IS A SOLUTION EXISTENT ???? *TR

I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A VEHICLE,WHEN I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER FOR 3 TO 5 SECONDS ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. IT HAS BEEN THAT WAY FROM THE DAY I BOUGHT IT UNTIL PRESENT. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE DEALER ON THE LOSE OF POWER PROBLEM I WAS TOLD NOTHING CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT IS A NORMAL ISSUE WITH FLY BY WIRE ACCELERATOR. *TR
WATER HAS BEEN FOUND BUILDING UP UNDER THE PLASTIC KICKPLATE IN THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF MY 2009 F150 SUPERCREW MODEL. I HAVE TAKEN IT TWICE TO THE DEALER AND BOTH TIMES THEY HAVE ORDERED A NEW THIRD BRAKE LIGHT AS CONDENSATION WAS FORMING. THEY STATED THE SEAL WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH AND WASN'T SEALING PROPERLY. ALSO SAID THIS IS COMMON WITH F150S. THEY SAID THEY HAVE REPLACED THIS NUMEROUS TIMES ON DIFFERENT F150S, AND SOONER OR LATER FORD WOULD ISSUE A RECALL. DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL I STARTED SMELLING MOLD AND MILDEW AND LIFTED THE KICKPLATE TO NOTICE THE CARPET WAS SOAKED AND WATER FORMING IN THE WELL. *TR
HEAD RESTS IN THE WAY, SEEM TO BE TO LARGE, MOSTLY NOTED WHEN BACKING UP & TRYING TO LOOK OUT BACK WINDOW, ALSO ON A PERSON 5' FOOT TALL (A WOMAN ) THE HEAD REST HITS THEM IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD ,MAKES IT VERY UNPLASENT TO RIDE IN. *TR THE TRUCK UNDER THAT CONDTION .
THE BRAKE SYSTEM PERFORMS POORLY. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS A SOFT FEEL TO IT UNLESS I PUMP THE PEDAL 2 OR 3 TIMES. IT ACTS LIKE THERE IS AIR IN THE SYSTEM. THE DEALER STATES THIS FEEL IS NORMAL AND TOOK NO ACTION. ALSO, THE BRAKES HAVE ON 2 OCCASIONS BARELY WORKED, I HAVE NEEDED TO USE BOTH FEET FULL FORCE TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY STATE THEY CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM OF THIS VEHICLE. *TR
GETTING INTO MY TRUCK TO GO TO WORK I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND STARTED DOWN THE ROAD .THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN WITH SUCH A FORCE THAT ITHOUGHT I HAD BEEN SHOT. THERE WAS NO WARNING OF FAILURE AND HAD BEEN WORKING FINE UP UNTIL THAT POINT. I HAVE TO USE MY TRUCK TO GO TO WORK, SO I CONTINUED ON WITH THE TEMPERTURE AT 13 DEGREES AND THE WINDSHIELD WAS AROUND "0".WHILE I WAS RIDING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL THAT COLD AIR BLASTED ME IN THE FACE. WAS A 20 MILE RIDE FROM HELLT. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER DRIVE THIS TRUCK OCCASIONALLY AND I COULD ONLY IMIAGINE WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THEM . I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD MAKE OTHERS AWARE OF THIS SAFETY ISSUE AND URGE THE CAR COMPANYS TO RECALL AND FIX THESE PROBLEMS. 2009 F150 SUPERCREW XLT. THE DASH REFLECTS ONTO THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. IT IS LIKE A HEADSUP IN A FIGHTER AIRCRAFT. LAYING A BLACK PIECE OF FELT CLOTH STOPS THE PROBLEM, BUT THE CLOTH CAUSES A PROBLEM SLIDING OFF. THE DASH MATERIAL IS TOO REFLECTIVE. *TR
I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE 30 EAST BOUND JUST EAST OF DOWNTOWN FORT WORTH TRAVELING AT 55 MPH IN MY 2009 F 150. I BEGAN ACCELERATING TO OVERTAKE A SLOWER VEHICLE. THE THROTTLE STUCK AT WHAT SEEM TO BE A WIDE OPEN POSITION, I HAD PASSED THE CAR AND LET OFF THE GAS AND PRESSED THE BRAKE 3 TIMES BEFORE FOR THE TRUCK STOPPED ACCELERATING AND I HAD REACHED A SPEED OF 95 MPH BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK BACK UNDER CONTROL. IT SEEMED LIKE THE THROTTLE WAS STUCK FOR AROUND 10 SECONDS, WHICH WAS A VERY SCARY 10 SECONDS. I JUST FINISHED READING A FEW FORUMS WHERE THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE RUBBER FLOOR MATS THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. WELL I HAVE NOT PUT FLOOR MATS IN MY TRUCK SO THAT WAS DEFIANTLY NOT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
2009 FORD F150 XLT HAS A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE HEAD REST. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE HEAD REST WERE SO LARGE AND SO WIDE, THAT IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO CLEARLY LOOK THROUGH THE BACK WINDOW WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. *JB
