REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. STARTED TRUCK AND WAS LEAVING WORK PARKING LOT. LOOKED IN REAR VIEW MIRROR AND THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERED. REAR DEFROSTER WAS RUNNING AT THE TIME, TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 25F.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 F-150 I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD COMPUTER AND THE STEERING WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSE ME TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE STEERING WENT OUT AND I HAD TO MUSCLE THE WHEEL TO TURN THE VEHICLE.
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTS TO AN EXTREME LOWER GEAR WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC. THE OCCURS WHEN YOU FIRST LET OFF THE GAS. (I UNDERSTAND THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS YEAR AND MODEL TRUCK).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE STEERING LOST POWER AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FAIRFIELD FORD OF WILLIAMSPORT (570-567-5020, LOCATED AT 3600 W 4TH ST, WILLIAMSPORT, PA 17701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED BACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 114,000.
THE IGNITION SWITCH DOES NOT WANT TO TURN. AND SEEMS LOOSE IN THE COLUMN.
LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT COMES ON AND TRUCK SHUTS DOWN, LOW OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACED BUT PROBLEM STILL EXIST, VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN 2 MONTHS
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL COME ON WITHOUT BEING ACTIVATED BY THE SWITCH. (THIS IS ON THE NON-RAIN SENSING MODEL). THEY SEEM TO BE STUCK ON THE LOWEST INTERMITTENT SETTING. I'VE COME ACROSS FORUMS ONLINE THAT STATE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH NEEDING REPLACED. T
WHILE ACCELERATING ONTO A HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STOPPED AND COULD NOT BE RESTARTED. HAD TO COAST TO A SAFE SPOT TO PULL OF THE ROAD. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE PROBLEM, I DISCOVERED THAT THE FUSE FOR THE FUEL PUMP HAD BLOWN AND MELTED THE FUSE BLOCK WHERE THE FUSE IS INSERTED. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AT FORD FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THEY HAVE ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO MOVE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO A DIFFERENT BLOCK WITHIN THE FUSE PANEL AND INSTALL A FUSE BLOCK THAT WILL HANDLE THE REQUIRED AMPERAGE. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE A RECALL BY FORD BECAUSE OF THE NATURE OF THE FAILURE. LOSING COMPLETE POWER, INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITY IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE URGENTLY ADDRESSED BY FORD. THE NHTSA SHOULD FORCE FORD TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET KILLED.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG RT. 837 HIGHWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK, GOING ABOUT 45 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL OF THE GAUGES ON MY DASH WENT BLANK AND MY SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO. THEN A BIG ORANGE WRENCH APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE TRUCK DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR AND I HAD VERY LITTLE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO TURN MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT BEING REAR ENDED. I ENDED UP MAKING IT TO WORK, WHICH WAS ABOUT 3 MINUTES AWAY, IN FIRST GEAR. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE ALL OF THE GAUGES WERE WORKING AGAIN. I MADE IT HOME FINE THAT DAY AND AN ADVANCED AUTO SCAN OF THE VEHICLE BROUGHT UP NO CODES. TWO DAYS LATER I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OCCUR ON RT. 30 HIGHWAY AND I HAD A SCAN TOOL I HAD BOUGHT WITH ME. I GOT 2 CODES, (P0720, P0722) BOTH RELATING TO THE OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford F-150. The contact initially stated that while driving at low rates of speed, the vehicle would unexpectedly downshift without warning. The contact then stated that while driving at highway speeds, the vehicle downshifted as the indicator warning light appeared on the instrument panel. Soon after the failure, the instrument panel went blank. Upon restart of the vehicle, the vehicle resumed normal operation; however, the failure persisted as the contact stated that the failure would occur more frequently. The contact stated that the check engine warning light had appeared on the instrument panel. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train) which was linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THERE IS COMMON ISSUE WITH YEAR MODELS AROUND 2012 CONCERNING THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT IT AND THE PARTS WERE RECALLED IN THE 2014 F-150 AND SUV MODELS FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS. FORD NEEDS TO PERFORM A RECALL ON F-150S FOR THE YEARS BEFORE 2014. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. WHEEL WAS INCREDIBLY HARD TO TURN AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS I WAS NAVIGATING TO A SAFE AREA.
THREE DAYS AGO WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, I SUDDENLY GOT AN ADVANCE TRACK WARNING ON MY DASH DISPLAY AFTERVA RIGHT TURN. THAT WARNING WAS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY A POWER STEERING FAULT WARNING. I LOST POWER STEERING AND PULLED OVER AT THE FIRST OPPORTUNITY. ABOUT AN HOUR AFTER PULLING OVER I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND GOT THE SAME WARNINGS BUT THE POWER STEERING WORKED AS NORMAL AND SHORTLY AFTER DRIVING THE FAULTS CLEARED. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURED ON MY 10 MINUTE COMMUTE TO WORK AND BACK FOR THE PAST TWO DAYS ALONG WITH AN INTERMITTENT BINDING SENSATION AND SUBTLE JERKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK WILL AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE GEARS AND THE SPEEDOMETER WILL GO TO ZERO. SOMETIMES IT WILL DROP INTO A LOW GEAR, SOMETIME IT WILL JUMP INTO AND HIGHER GEAR. ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW MY TRUCK HAS GOTTEN STUCK IN 5TH GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP IT WONT DOWNSHIFT BELOW 3RD GEAR. BOTH TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED THE SPEEDOMETER SEEMS TO SHORT OUT AS WELL AND GOES TO ZERO. IF I TURN THE TRUCK OFF WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE TRANSMISSION RESETS AND ALL GEARS WORK UNTIL THE NEXT TIME IT OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. OVERALL THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED 4 TIMES OVER THE PAST MONTH. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TRANSMISSION RELATED RECALL, THEY REPROGRAMED THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ISSUES HAS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD BE ADDRESS IMMEDIATELY BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY.
POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT CAME ON WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN AND TURNING LEFT. MANEUVERED THE CAR DOWN THE STREET AND COULDN'T NAVIGATE THE DRIVEWAY SO I BACKED UP AND THE POWER STEERING BEGAN WORKING BUT THE ADVANCETRAC LIGHT REMAINED ON. THIS LIGHT CAME ON BEFORE BUT WITH NO EFFECT TO THE STEERING ONLY THE BLINKERS, WHICH WOULD NOT STAY ON. DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND LIGHT AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS ALSO CONNECTED TO THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM AND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF THESE HAPPENS AGAIN. 114800 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH UP A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED AND SMOKE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONNECT IN THE TRANSMISSION LINE MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED TRANSMISSION FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION LINES WERE REPAIRED, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MALFUNCTION. WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFTED. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT PROPERLY SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB MAXEY FORD OF HOWELL (2798 EAST GRAND RIVER AVE, HOWELL, MI) WHERE THE LEAD FRAME WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE ALSO PRESENT INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER SERVICE PROGRAM NUMBER: 19N01B TO REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 24445319. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND A FAULT APPEARED IN THE DASH 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' AND JUST LIKE THAT THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND REMOVED THE KEYS. THE SYSTEM REBOOTED AND WHEN I STARTED IT UP IT WORKED FINE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES WHEN I STOPPED TO GET GAS. UPON RESTART THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. I REBOOTED IT, AND IT TOOK 3 REBOOTED THIS TIME TO GET THE STEERING BACK. I STOPPED ONE MORE TIME AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SAME ISSUE, SAME TEMPORARY RESOLUTION. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 45 MINUTES. UPON RESEARCHING THIS ISSUES I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME ISSUE WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS ON THE SAME MODEL. THAT'S A BIT MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE. GIVEN THAT THE ONLY SOLUTION FOR THIS COSTS $1800 AND SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITHIN THE SAME SHORT TIME FRAME, THIS DESERVES INVESTIGATION.
MY TRANSMISSION STICKS IN ONE GEAR, SHIFTS VERY HARD, AND DOWN SHIFTS UNEXPECTEDLY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS, BUT FORD HAS NOT STARTED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. IT IS CAUSING ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE THE MORE I DRIVE IT. THE RECALL WAS STARTED IN FEBUARY OF 2019.
LOST POWER STEARING A YEAR AGO DASH WARNING READS POWER STEARING ASSIST FAULT. AT THE SAME TIME MY HEATER BLOWER STOPPED WORKING. MY MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RESET THE FAULT AND STEERING WOULD COME BACK BUT USUALLY FOR A DAY OR TWO. IT WOULD FAULT OUT DURING THIS TIME BUT I COULD SHUT OFF AND RESTART THE TRUCK AND IT WOULD RESET THE FAULT BUT ON THE FOURTH ATTEMPT AT THIS WOULD NOT RESET THE FAULT . THIS WENT ON FOR A MONTH OR SO AS WE TRIED TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THEN ONE DAY IT WOULD NO LONGER RESET AT ALL. SO I HAD THE STEERING RACK REPLACED. LAST APRIL. LESS THEN 5000 KM LATER IN SEPTEMBER THE STEERING FAULT HAPPENED AGAIN ALONG WITH TRACTION CONTROL FAULT AND DISINGRATED THE FRONT PASSENGERS SIDE BRAKE. AND THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR WENT AGAIN. THESE RACKS AND THE LABOUR INTENSIVE REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH THE COST OF THE OTHER FIXES IS ASTRONOMICAL. I AM ABOUT TOO INSTALL THE THIRD RACK.WITH NO CONFIDENCE AT ALL THAT I WILL NOT BE BACK TOO SQUARE ONE IN SEPT AGAIN. THE SAYING GOES THE DIFFINITION OF INSANITY IS REPEATING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT. SO SHE GOES FOR SALE WHEN FIXED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALWAYS IN MOTION WHEN FAULT OCCURRED.
TAKATA RECALL THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP IS BLOWING FUSES CAUSING THE BRAKES TO REQUIRE EXTREME PRESSURE TO STOP VEHICLE.
RACK & PINION I'VE GOT A 2012 FORD F-150 THAT WE HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN TO THE DEALER IT'S ONLY GOT 63K MILES ON IT. SO WHEN THE STEERING SYSTEM FAIL FAULT CODE POPPED UP ON THE SCREEN WE WERE SHOCKED. WE NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM. IT WAS FRIDAY AUGUST 23 2019 EVENING WE WE'RE JUST GOING TO GRAB SOME DINNER MY HUSBAND PULLED THE TRUCK BACK OUT OF THE DRIVE WAY AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING THAT'S WHEN WE NOTICED THE SCREEN. WE RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT IT WAS VERY POSSIBLY THE RACK AND PINION BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRICAL AND IT'S IN THE RACK AND PINION. WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND PRAYED IT WASN'T WHAT WE THOUGHT. UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS. SO HERE WE ARE $1846.00 LATER. I'M JUST GLAD MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING. IF IT HAD BEEN ME DRIVING IN TRAFFIC I DONT KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. ALL THE COMPLAINTS WE FOUND ALL OVER THE INTERNET WE HAD HOPED IT WAS A RECALL BUT NO SUCH LUCK. HOPE THIS HELPS ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM.GOOD LUCK
UPON STARTUP ENGINE MAKES A TERRIBLE RATTLE KNOCK NOISE , UPON INVESTIGATION WE CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED AND OR TENSIONERS AND CAM PHASERS MAY HAVE FAILED. THAT IS UNTIL THE OIL PRESSURE IS HIGH ENOUGH TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING AND TRACTION CONTROL WENT OUT
POWER ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON IN SPARKS NV. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARK FULL OF PEOPLE, STEERING WAS HARD AND BLINKERS WILL NOT STAY ON. PULLED OVER AND CYCLED THE KEY WITH NO RESPONCE, DISSCONNECTD THE BATTERY AND THIS HAD NO AFFECT EITHER, AT A 137343 MI ON THIS TRUCK HAS HAD NO MAJOR PROBLEMS. THIS TRUCK HAS PULLED A LIVSTOCK TRAILOR MOST OF THESE MILES. I DROVE 80 MILES HOME IN THIS CONDITON WITH NO OTHER COMPUTER ERRORS. LETS GET IT FIXED FORD!
VEHICLE SHOWS HUGE WRENCH ON SCREEN. SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER STOPS WORKING AND ONLY HAVE 3RD AND 5TH GEAR. NEXT THE TRUCK VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR. TOOK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE RECALL FIXED. THEY SAID THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND DOWNLOADED NEW SOFTWARE. 2 DAYS LATER, TRUCK WAS STUCK IN 1ST GEAR. PULLED OVER, RESTARTED IT AND SEEMED FINE. NOW ABOUT ONCE A DAY, WILL SUDDENLY SHIFT INTO 1ST AT ANY SPEED AGAIN. SEEMS LIKE THEY NEVER FIXED. BACK IN THE SHOP NOW SO LET'S SEE WHAT HAPPENS. LOSS OF WORK, AND MY SAFETY IS A HUGE CONCERN. PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS TRULY UNSAFE!
MY 2012 F150 WITH 82K, MILES ON IT 08/08/2019 GOT IN MY VEHICLE STARTER VEHICLE IT MADE A STRANGE NOISE FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT PROCEEDED TO BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND HAD NO POWER STEERING. WHAT SCARES ME IS WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON THE FREEWAY AT 50 MILES AN HOUR OR BETTER AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT? ALSO MY DOOR LOCK ON DRIVER SIDE WOULD NOT WORK PAID $400 TO HAVE IT FIXED NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS FAILED. MY QUESTION IS WHAT IF I COULD NOT GET OUT IF MY TRUCKS POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AND CRASHED I COULDN'T GET OUT. I FEEL THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENT,I FEEL THIS IS FACTORY DEFECTIVE PARTS! THERE'S TOO MANY OF THE SAME REPORTED INCIDENTS, DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE WE GET A FIX? AFTER THE REPAIR, THE SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED AND SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE ADDITIONAL REPAIRS TO REPLACE THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD A RESTRUCTURED TITLE. THE CONTACT WONDERED WHY THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM HIM OF THE RESTRUCTURED TITLE DURING HIS INITIAL VISIT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,400.
STEERING WAS VERY STIFF THIS MORNING TURNING AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY. WAS MORE LIKE MANUAL STEERING THAN POWER STEERING. AFTER DRIVING AROUND THROUGHOUT THE DAY THE STEERING EVENTUALLY LOOSENED UP AND FELT LIKE POWER STEERING AGAIN. I LEARNED THAT MY TRUCK HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING.
7/25/2019: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA -- NORTHBOUND HWY 101, HEADED HOME FROM GLENDALE TO OXNARD. SO-CAL TRAFFIC BEING WHAT IT IS, TRAVEL WAS STOP & GO, WITH BRIEF BURSTS OF ACTUAL SPEED-LIMIT TRAVEL. I WAS DOING ABOUT 55MPH, COMING TO A BOTTLENECK WHERE TRAFFIC WAS ACCUMULATING. I GENTLY PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN MY TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED. I WAS EXPECTING A 5-4 DOWNSHIFT, BUT INSTEAD MY TRUCK SLAMMED INTO 1ST GEAR, TIRES LOCKED. I SKID TO A STOP, DUMBFOUNDED. DURING DECELERATION, THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE, SO I PULLED OVER & CHECKED THINGS OUT. I'M NOT A MECHANIC, BUT I CHECKED ALL THE FLUIDS AND TRANS TEMP, WHICH WERE ALL IN OPERATING RANGE. I DROVE GENTLY THE REST OF THE WAY HOME, FEARING THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN, BUT IT DIDN'T. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I LEFT TO WORK, THERE WAS A LOUD WHINE THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AT HIGHER RPM, JUST PRIOR TO UPSHIFT. I DROVE GENTLY TO WORK AND BACK HOME LATER THAT EVENING. THE FOLLOWING DAY WAS SATURDAY, 7/27/19: TOOK MY TRUCK TO A LOCAL SHOP, WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS SHOWING SIGNS OF RAPID FAILURE AND THAT IF I CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT THAT IT MIGHT LAST ANOTHER WEEK, IF I WAS LUCKY & THAT MY TRUCK WOULD ONE DAY SOON, LEAVE ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE FWY. THE FOLLOWING WEEK I ORDERED A REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSION, TO THE TUNE OF ABOUT $3000. A MONTH LATER, MY MECHANIC BROTHER-IN-LAW & I SWAPPED OUT THE TRANNY, INCLUDING THE TORQUE CONVERTER & TRANNY COOLER. THEN I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE MECHANIC SHOP, SO MY ECU & TCU COULD BE REPROGRAMMED TO ACCEPT THE NEW TRANNY & UPDATED TO FIX THE RECALL. WHAT RECALL? THIS WAS THE FIRST MENTION OF ANY RECALL. MY 2012 FORD F150 HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION 6R80. WHILE GOING 15-20 MPH THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY DOWNSHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 1ST CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO SLIDE.THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY. THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAS COMPLETED ALL THE KNOWN SERVICE BULLETINS WHICH INCLUDE A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND A LEAD FRAME REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE ON SLICK ROADS.

THE CONTACT HEARD A BEEP SOUND AND THE LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER, RESTART THE ENGINE, AND DRIVE TO DAVID WILSON'S VILLA FORD (2550 NORTH TUSTIN STREET, ORANGE, CA 92865, (714)-509-5615). THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED FAILURE CODE: 27 (FUEL PUMP). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FUSE WAS LOCATED IN AN AREA THAT CAUSED THE FUSE TO OVERHEAT. THE DEALER RELOCATED THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO ANOTHER AREA THAT WOULD NOT CAUSE THE FUEL PUMP FUSE TO OVERHEAT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V075000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 181,057.
SECONDARY TIMING CHAIN LINK CAME APART SOON AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN 2015 AT 66,000 MILES MY WARRANTY PAID FOR IT. NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN BUT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ENGINE. 2 TIME CHAIN LINKS FALL APART. I WAS CASUALLY DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY JUST OUTSIDE OF ATLANTA WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I FELT A JOLT IN THE REAR END AND MY ADVANCED TRACTION CONTROL TURNED ON AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED ME THAT SOMEHOW MY REAR AXLE DIFFERENTIAL HAD SNAPPED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE. THEY STATED THAT USUALLY THEY SEE THAT IN HIGH LIFTED TRUCKS OR WITH TOWING SOMETHING HEAVY. MY TRUCK IS STANDARD LIFT AND I DO NOT TOW ANY TRAILERS AND I AM THINKING IT COULD POSSIBLY HAVE BEEN A FACTORY DEFECT AS MY TRUCK IS STILL PRETTY YOUNG AND HAS ONLY 114000 MILES
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 F-150 I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD COMPUTER AND THE STEERING WENT OUT ALMOST CAUSE ME TO SWERVE INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE STEERING WENT OUT AND I HAD TO MUSCLE THE WHEEL TO TURN THE VEHICLE.
THE EPAS (ELECTRONIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING) SYSTEM WENT OUT IN MY VEHICLE CAUSING THE WHEELS TO LOCK IN THE DIRECTION THAT THEY WERE IN. THE SYSTEM ONCE IT FAILS WILL NOT ALLOW THE WHEELS TO BE TURNED AT ALL. FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS SYSTEM FAILURE AND REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE TRUCKS THAT HAVE THIS SYSTEM, BUT THEY ISSUED A RECALL ON THE SUV'S THAT HAVE THIS SYSTEM. THIS SYSTEM IS OVER 2000 DOLLARS. I HAVE READ THROUGH MULTIPLE FORUMS OF THIS SAME ISSUE IN BY HUNDREDS OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE MANY OF WHICH WERE UNFORTUNATE TO HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A CRASH BECAUSE OF THIS SYSTEM. I FORTUNATE ENOUGH THAT I WAS PULLING INTO A SHOP TO GET MY OIL CHANGE WHEN THIS SYSTEM WENT OUT COMPLETELY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SAFETY MONITOR INDICATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. A PTO CODE WAS DISPLAYED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CODE FOR ENGINE COOLING WAS DISPLAYED. THERE WAS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WITH SEVERAL LIGHTS AND ALSO WITH THE BRAKED AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE ARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
INTERMITTENTLY, THERE IS A HARD BRAKE PEDAL AT FIRST START. AFTER A FEW PRESSES OF THE BRAKE IT GOES AWAY.

I AM THE THIRD OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE. WE PURCHASED VEHICLE WITH AROUND 114,000 MILES. WITHIN A WEEK AND A HALF, THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING WHILE DRIVING/ENGINE RUNNING. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, BATTERY DIED, NEW BATTERY PLACED IN VEHICLE AND DEAD NEXT DAY. FORD MOTOR UNRESPONSIVE AND WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION FOR ONE MONTH!
DRIVING 75MPH TOWING BOAT. TRUCK SHIFTS INTO 1ST GEAR. REDLINED ENGINE, MANY NOISES, SLIPPING TRANSMISSION, STEP ON PEDAL TO ACCELERATE, IT GOES TO 5K BEFORE SHIFTING. ALMOST CAUSED MAJOR HIGHWAY DISASTER. NOW MY FAMILY IS AFRAID TO RIDE IN VEHICLE. ALSO WHEN FIRST START UP NO BRAKES. RECALLS WHERE DONE FOR BOTH , DID NOT FIX EITHER.
