CODE P0016 TIMING CHAIN FAILURE. CAUSING CAR TO LOSE POWER WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS HAPPENED ON EXPRESSWAY WHEN I WAS TURNING INTO A LANE TO PASS A SEMI IN MY LANE. I HAD NO POWER TO GET GOING IN THE PASSING LANE AND ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED.ALSO CAUSES TRUCK TO JUMP WHEN FULLY STOPPED AND FOOT ON BREAK. THIS IS A ON GOING PROBLEM.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABNORMAL SOUND EMITTED FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT, BUT NOT AS SEVERE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, BUT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BISHOP FORD (1440 US-6, BISHOP, CA 93514) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME OF THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,392.
UPON SLOWING DOWN TO 40-50 MPH TO ENTER EXIT RAMP FROM AN INTERSTATE HWY, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN DOWNSHIFTING ON ITS OWN TO ONE LOWER GEAR TO THE NEXT, IN FAIRLY RAPID SUCCESSION CREATING HIGH RPM. I CONTINUED TO A STOP LIGHT IN LOW GEAR AND WHEN RESTARTING ALL SHIFTS WERE NORMAL. IT ONLY HAPPENED THIS ONE TIME AND HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. I RESEARCHED ON INTERNET AND SEE SIMILAR IF NOT SAME ISSUE ON 6S19 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING - 2011-2012 NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248. I WENT TO FORD DEALER AND THEY ADVISED ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED. I ENTERED MY VIN IN THE RECALL LOOK-UP AND IT ALSO DID NOT SHOW TO BE RECALLED. AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH OF VIN DESCRIPTIONS, APPEARS MY VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN PRODUCED ONE DAY AFTER THE DATE RANGE FORD LISTS ON ITS AFFECTED VEHICLE BUILD DATES.
WHILE ON HIGHWAY, VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, CAUSED REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP AND TOOK ME OFF THE ROAD. THEN WHEN INTO LIMP MODE. HAPPENED TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES. AT THE TIME 11/18 MY TRUCK WASNT RECALLED. THEY FINALLY RECALLED IT LAST WEEK AND ARENT PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS AND DIAG I HAD TO DO IN NOVEMBER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT SPUN OUT OF THE RIGHT LANE INTO A GRASSY AREA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES SEIZED AND THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY PLACED INTO NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. DURING THE FAILURE, THE SPEEDOMETER AND INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE INCREASED AND DECREASED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LOST POWER COMPLETELY. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED AND UPSHIFTED RANDOMLY. GRIECO FORD OF DELRAY BEACH (3000 SOUTH FEDERAL HIGHWAY, DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA 33483, (561) 278-278-0303) AND AUTONATION FORD MARGATE (5401 WEST COPANS ROAD, MARGATE, FLORIDA 33063, (954) 644-4976) WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE DEALERS REQUESTED A DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT ATTACHED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE READER TO THE VEHICLE AND REFERENCED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE: OSS SENSOR (P0720). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,218.
DRIVING 72MPH ON INTERSTATE 40 WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR. VEHICLE REAR TIRES LOCKED AND VEHICLE SWERVED ALMOST PUTTING ME OFF THE ROAD. WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND RUN OVER BY 18 WHEELER. WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND PULLED OVER. AFTER COLLECTING MYSELF, I DROVE THE REMAINING 10 MINUTES HOME WITHOUT ANY MORE TROUBLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO AN UNKNOWN LOCATION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE DEALER (AUTONATION FORD CORPUS CHRISTI, 6250 S PADRE ISLAND DR, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX 78412, (361) 444-0125) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,700.
MOON ROOF: OPENED ONCE WHEN PURCHASED. ACCIDENTLY OPENED INSTEAD OF DOME LIGHT. OFF THE GRID, WOULD ONLY CLOSE HALF WAY. 40 MPH. WINDS, HEAVY RAIN, GOT SOAKED. VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING GIVING I WAS EXPOSED TO THE OUTDOOR ELEMENTS AS DESCRIBED. DARK WIND AND RAIN IN MY FACE FOR HALF HOUR. WIPING H2O FROM FACE AND INSIDE WIND SHIELD, STEERING AND DASH. HAD MECHANIC AT A GARAGE CLOSED IT. FOUND TWO SMALL PIECES OF PLASTIC BROKEN OFF TRACK. DEALER FIRST QUOTE $1,100.00. SECOND QUOTE WAS $2,200.00. BLOG ON WEB AND U TUBE REPAIR SITES MANY EXAMPLES OF MOON ROOF FAILURES FROM TRACK FAILURE TO MOON ROOF EXPLODING ON FORD VEHICLES. WHY DOES THIS NOT CONSTITUTE A RECALL. FORD DEALERSHIPS ARE ASKING THE CONSUMER TO PAY OUTRAGEOUS PRICES TO HAVE THEIR ENGINEERING FAILURES FIXED. A RIP OFF TO THE CONSUMER. I PAID ABOUT $43,000 FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE COST TO FIX THE MOON ROOF IS OVER 5% OF THE COST OF MY TRUCK.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, WHEN THE TRANNIE DROPPED INTO LOWER GEAR AND LOCKED UP THE REAR END. THE TRUCK FISHTAILED FOR A FEW MOMENTS UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AND PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP LATER THAT THE LEADFRAME HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER A SAFETY REORT CAME UT STATING A SENSOR WAS TO BLAME.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND NOTICED THAT THE WRENCH ICON AND MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP WERE ILLUMINATED. IN MAY OF 2019, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM LETTER (NUMBER: 19N01) HIGHLIGHTING THE TERMS OF THE PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDED THE FAILURE THAT OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 24280289. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WHEN TURNING VEHICLE EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT AS SHARP TURN AS POSSIBLE AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING. THE ONLY WAY TO RESET TURN SIGNALS, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT WAS TO CUT TRUCK OFF, RESTART THEN DRIVE BACKWARDS ABOUT 10 YARDS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT AND TURN SIGNALS STARTED WORKING, TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM BERGLUND FORD SERVICE DEPT SAID I NEEDED A NEW STEERING GEAR. THIS WAS A VERY EXPENSIVE FIX, $2046.40 AND IN MY RESEARCH THIS YEAR TRUCK WAS HAVING THIS PROBLEM WIDE SPREAD. I FEEL THERE WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM AS THE STEERING GEAR IS NOT A PART THAT NORMALLY FAILS ON A VEHICLE,

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
ALL OF THE LUG NUTS THAT ARE ORIGINALLY SUPPLIED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED , EVENTUALLY SWELL UP AND WHEN A FLAT TIRE OCCURS , MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THE SUPPLIED TOOL TO REMOVE THEM TO REPAIR THE FLAT TIRE.

BACK WINDOW SHATTERED FOR NO APPARENT REASON WITH REAR DEFROSTER ON. I WAS LETTING MY TRUCK WARM UP IN MY DRIVEWAY NOT IN MOTION

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BILL MCCANDLESS FORD (8416 SHARON-MERCER RD, MERCER, PA 16137, (888) 375-7857) TWO MONTHS BEFORE HE RECEIVED THE NOTICE FOR OTHER UNKNOWN RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD REIMBURSE THE CONTACT FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED THE REIMBURSEMENT A WEEK LATER BECAUSE THE INITIAL RECALL WAS FOR A LEAD FRAME REPLACEMENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THEORY - VEHICLE MANUFACTURERS CAN SIMULATE OR INDUCE FAILURE OF VARIOUS PARTS/SYSTEMS THROUGH THE COMPUTER PROGRAMMING SYSTEMS THAT RUN VEHICLES CAUSING VEHICLE OWNERS TO MAKE UNNEEDED REPAIRS WHICH CREATES DEMAND FOR PARTS AND LABOR THROUGHOUT THE DEALERSHIP NETWORK. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING ISSUES ARISE AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. 1) DASHBOARD DISPLAY OF GEAR VEHICLE IS OPERATING IN STOPPED ILLUMINATING 2) WINDSHIELD WIPER STAYS ON LOWEST INTERMITTENT SETTING AFTER WIPER IS TURNED OFF 3) VEHICLE MAKES NOISE FOR 5-10 SECONDS FOLLOWING IGNITION DURING WHICH BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT. 4) SOUND OF GRINDING/SCRAPING FROM THE FRONT END 5) POWER STEERING IS STIFF DURING LOW SPEED TURNS MY RESPONSE TO THESE SITUATIONS WERE/ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1) CHECKED THE FUSES - EVERYTHING WAS GOOD THERE. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER THE DISPLAY ILLUMINATED AND HAS STAYED ILLUMINATED EVER SINCE. 2) THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACING A $100 PART - I CONTINUED TO SWITCH THE WIPERS ON AND OFF UNTIL WIPERS STAYED OFF. SITUATION STILL REQUIRES ON/OFF SWITCHING SOMETIMES BUT HAS IMPROVED OVER TIME 3) THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF A $400 BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. I CONTINUED TO WAIT FOR BRAKE PEDAL TO FIRM BEFORE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AND THE SITUATION RESOLVED TO NORMAL PRESENTLY. THAT IS TO SAY THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES. 4) TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND INCURRED A $700+ CHARGE FOR IWES SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP SAID THE CHECK VALVES HAD STUCK OPEN AND DIRT AND DUST HAD ENTERED THE SYSTEM REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF PARTS 5) THIS IS THE LATEST ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN TURNING AFTER A STOP AND DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY DAY. I SUSPECT IT WILL RESOLVE ITSELF OVERTIME IF MY THEORY AS STATED AT THE TOP IS CORRECT.
THIS FORD F-150 IS EQUIPED WITH A V-6 3.5 LITER TWIN TURBO ENGINE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. IT IS 2 WHEEL DRIVE. TE PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING ALONG AT SPEED THE TRANSMISSION WILL SUDDENLY SHIFT INTO EITHER 1ST GEAR OF 5TH GEAR. PREDOMINANTLY 1ST GEAR. THE SPEED CAN VARY FROM 35 TO 55 MPH. THERE IS NO WARNING. THERE ARE NO CODES. ON ONE OCCASION THE DASH DISPLAYED A SINGLE LARGE WRENCH ACROSS THE DISPLAY AND THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THE ONLY WAY TO RESET IS TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF AND WAIT THEN RESTART AND PROCEED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IT HAPPENED A FEW TMES ON ONE TRIP, ABOUT 1 HOUR TRIP TIME. ON OTHER OCCASIONS IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AT ALL. I HAVE NOT KEPT A RECORD OF EACH OCCURANCE BUT I BELIEVE THE TOTAL IS APROIMATELY 12-18 TIMES. IN ALL INSTANES THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND ON CITY STREETS OR INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS. THE ROADS HAVE NOT BEEN CURVY BUT RATHER MORE STRAIGH. TO DATE THERE HAVE BEEN NO INJURIES. THIS PROBLEM HA BEEN OCCURING FOR ABOUT 4 WEEKS.
WHEN DRIVING, THE TRUCK WOULD SHIFT DOWN TO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT ANY WARNING, ABOUT PUTTING US THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. VERY SCARY. WE DID TAKE IT IN AND THEY REPLACED A SENSOR. EXPENSIVE! I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. IT STARTED WITH JUST THE "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAK" LIGHT COMING ON AFTER MAKING A SHARP TURN. WHEN THIS LIGHT WAS ON THE TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT WORK. NOW I HAVE LITTLE TO NO POWER STEERING AT ALL TIMES. THERE SEEMS TO BE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND EVEN A RECALL FOR F-150'S OF THIS YEAR BUT IT IS NOT ON THE LIST.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED. SERVICE ADVANCE-TRAC MESSAGE DISPLAYED, LOW BATTERY DISPLAYED, TURN SIGNALS WON'T WORK, AND TRACTION/STABILITY CONTROL IS DISABLED. ALL RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING RACK.

THE SUDDEN DOWN SHIFT CAUSED THE REAR TIRES TO LOOSE TRACTION RESULTING IN A FISH TAIL LOSS OF CONTROL UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO REDUCE SPEED. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO NOT HAVE ANYBODY BESIDE ME AND THE CAR BEHIND ME HAD LEFT GENEROUS SPACE OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON DURING OR AFTER THE EVENT.
