UPON COLD STARTUP MY TRUCK MAKES A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE FOR 2-5 SECONDS. THEIR IS A CURRENT TSB OUT TO FIX THIS ISSUE FROM FORD TO REPLACE PRIMARY CHAIN AND ALL 4 PHASERS. THIS ONLY GETS FIXED UNDER NEW VEHICLE LIMITED WARRANTY, WHICH MY TRUCK IS OUT OF. FORD ACKNOWLEDGES THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT UNWILLING TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE FOR THE MANY PEOPLE IT IS AFFECTING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL INADVERTENTLY BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AND THE POWER STEERING FAULT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FORD OF PORT RICHEY (10715 US-19, PORT RICHEY, FL 34668 (727) 868-9545) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,840.
THE VISUAL (ORANGE OR YELLOW) SEAT BELT SYMBOL LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES REMAINS ON. SEAL BELTS ALWAYS USED AND THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENT OR REPAIR. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS ISSUE FOR MONTHS.
DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LACK OF ACCELERATION, DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY; SPEEDOMETER WENT DOWN TO ZERO, RPM GAUGE WENT TO ZERO, INSTANT MPG DISPLAY WENT TO ZERO, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER IN HIGHWAY AND REQUESTED A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT; THE REPORT INDICATES "RESTRAINTS INDICATOR LAMP WARNING". AFTER PARKING AND TURNING VEHICLE OFF/ON, PROBLEM GOES AWAY, HOWEVER IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MOVE FROM THE LEFTMOST LANE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH LIMITED ACCELERATION. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS, A REPORT WAS ALSO SUBMITTED FOR THAT CASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE'S REAR END MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND JUMPED OFF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE LANDED THEY ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATION PEDAL, THE VEHICLE MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. AFTER OBSERVING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEARS IN THE REAR BLEW OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE ALL STAR FORD DEALER LOCATED AT 300 CENTURY CT, PITTSBURG, CA 94565; 925-752-7800 WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED INTO THE DEALER TO RECEIVE A DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
VEHICLE TRAVELING APPROX 35MPH ON A CITY STREET AROUND A CURVE WHEN THE EPAS SYSTEM FAILED SUDDENLY. STEERING BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND VEHICLE WAS NEARLY INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. VEHICLE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED "SERVICE ADVANCETRAK" AND " ELECTROINIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" SIMULTANEOUSLY. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. NO OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS FROM DEALER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION WENT FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (AUTONATION FORD, NORTH CANTON, OH, 330-497-9100) AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH TRUCK SPEEDOMETER WAS DROPPING TO ZERO AND BACK TO 55 AND THEN REAR TIRES STARTED SKIDDING AND I LOOKED AT ELECTRONIC GEAR SELECTION AND IT WAS IN FIRST GEAR, ALSO THERE WAS PICTURE OF A WRENCH ON THE THE DASH SCREEN THEN IT WENT OUT AND GAUGES WERE DASHES NO SPEEDOMETER AND AIR BAG LIGHTS AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. PULLED OVER ALONG THE HIGHWAY AND SHUT OFF FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEN STARTED ENGINE AND WENT TO PULL BACK ON HIGHWAY AND IT WOULDN'T GO, SO L LOOKED AT THE DASH AND IT WAS IN 5TH GEAR , SO I SHUT IT OFF AGAIN AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT IN 3RD GEAR SO I GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AND WENT SLOW AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS GOING UP AND DOWN ALL THE TIME. SO I GOT OFF ON AN EXIT AND SHUT IT OFF AGAIN AND FINALLY IT WORKED SO I MADE IT HOME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED FROM FIRST GEAR AND FAILED TO CHANGE GEARS APPROPRIATELY. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE IN ORDER FOR IT TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE DEALER (ATHENS FORD, 4260 ATLANTA HWY, ATHENS, GA 30606, (706) 521-0778) DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAF FRAME WIRING HARNESS IN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER MADE NO MENTION OF THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN (15N05 ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP EXTENDED COVERAGE), SO THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF IT WAS RELATED. IN ADDITION, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM A RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE TRUCK WILL ABRUPTLY DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING THE REAR WHEELS TO SLIDE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING, NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 16V248000. WE DID TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE (FORD RECALL 16S19). THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THEY WERE NOT AUTHORIZED TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. WE WERE ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER, AND RESEARCH HAD INDICATED, THAT THE TRUCK NEEDS TO HAVE THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME REPLACED. WE WERE ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THIS PART IS IN SHORT SUPPLY, BECAUSE OF HEAVY DEMAND, AND THE WAITING LIST IS OVER 3 MONTHS TO GET ONE. FORD MOTORS DID AGREE TO REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME IF YOU CAME IN BEFORE DECEMBER 31ST 2016 OR, HAD 150,000 MILES OR LESS, OR LESS THAN TEN YEARS FROM WARRANTY DATE (FORD 16N02). I DID CALL FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID THEY HAD MET THEIR OBLIGATION AND WOULD DO NOTHING MORE TO ADDRESS THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE DID NOT OCCUR WITH OUR VEHICLE UNTIL AFTER FORDS RECALL REPAIR CONDITIONS (ABOVE) HAD EXPIRED (16N02 MOLDED LEADFRAME EXTENDED COVERAGE ). THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITHOUT AN EXPIRATION DATE, MILES, OR TIME LIMIT. THE FACT THAT FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM AND A SAFETY CONCERN, THEY SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR CUSTOMERS AND FIX IT. THE DATE BEING ASK FOR BELOW IS TO THE BEST OF MY MEMORY.
LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, DEPRESSING ACCELERATOR DOES NOT POWER THE VEHICLE, SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE NOT WORKING. ONCE ABLE TO STEER VEHICLE SAFELY TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OFF AND BACK ON, VEHICLE RESPONDS AS EXPECTED. HAPPENED TWICE ALREADY, ON 8/24/2017 AND 8/29/2017.
I WENT TO OPEN THE MOONROOF ON A HOT AFTERNOON TO VENT THE TRUCK. I PRESSED THE SWITCH TO TILT THE GLASS AND IT DIDN'T SEEM TO MOVE. I TRIED THE SLIDE FUNCTION AND HEARD A LOUD POP. THE GLASS SLID ABOUT 1" AND STOPPED. I TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE MOONROOF AND ONLY SUCCEEDED IN GETTING IT TO OPEN ABOUT 5" AND IT WILL NOT CLOSE. I HAVE READ MANY POSTS ON FORD FORUMS AND OTHER FORUMS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT INCLUDES NOT ONLY THE F-150'S BUT EXPLORERS AND EXPEDITIONS FROM 2007 TO PRESENT. A SMALL PLASTIC PART BREAKS AND RENDERS TO MOONROOF INOPERABLE. THE OWNER IS THEN STUCK WITH AN OPENING IN THE ROOF OF THEIR VEHICLE THAT WILL LET THE WEATHER IN. RAIN COULD POTENTIALLY SHORT OUT MUCH OF THE VEHICLES ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE ESTIMATED COST TO FIX THIS AT THE DEALER IS AS MUCH AS $2400 FOR A PART THE PROBABLY COST FORD LESS THAN $1. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT COULD VERY WELL HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY AS I HAVE OPENED THE MOONROOF WHILE TRAVELING BEFORE. THE SOUND OF THE PLASTIC PIECES BREAKING WHILE OPENING COULD VERY WELL STARTLE A DRIVER IF OPENED WHILE TRAVELING. I HAVE TO TRAVEL WITH A PIECE OF PLASTIC IN THE TRUCK AND USE IT TO COVER THE OPENING IN CASE OF RAIN. ALSO THE VEHICLE ISN'T SECURE BECAUSE OF THE OPENING. I'M ALSO NOT SURE IF THIS WILL SHATTER THE GLASS IF OPENED FURTHER.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCED SEVERE REDUCED ENGINE POWER DURING A ACCELERATION FOR AN ATTEMPTED PASS. AN ISSUE FORD WAS AWARE WOULD HAPPEN WITHOUT THE DEFLECTOR PLATE DUE TO DESIGN FLAW! NO ALERT TO THE OWNERS THAT IT WAS A POTENTIAL CONCERN, BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A CHECK - NO WORD AT ALL! IF THERE WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THEIR TURBO DESIGN LEADING TO COMPOUNDING PREMATURE FAILURE, WHY WOULDN'T THEY LET THE OWNERS KNOW" THE DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE HAD AMPLE OPPORTUNITY TO INFORM ME OF THE ISSUE IF THAT WAS THEIR INTENTION AS I VISIT REGULARLY

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (HALL FORD IN ELIZABETH CITY, NC, 877-475-0723) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THE DEALER (WILSON FORD, 304-363-0500) PERFORMED A REPAIR THAT ENABLED THE HORN TO FUNCTION CORRECTLY, BUT THE REPAIR SPECIFICS WERE UNKNOWN. RECENTLY, THE HORN FAILED TO SOUND WHEN IT WAS PRESSED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
FIRST NATIONAL RECALL (16S19). SOFTWARE RECALL REPAIR TO PREVENT TRANSMISSION FROM SHIFTING DOWN INTO 1ST WHILE DRIVING. COMPLETED FEB 2017. AUGUST 2017 WHILE MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY, TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY SHIFTED INTO FIRST AND LOCKED UP MY REAR WHEELS. I WAS NEVER INFORMED BY FORD THAT THERE WAS AN ADDITIONAL FIX/RECALL. RECALL (16N02) LEAD FRAME REPLACED AUGUST 2017. REPAIR SEEMS TO HAVE ADDRESSED SHIFTING PROBLEM, BUT I NOW TRANSMISSION DAMAGE THAT FORD STATES IS UNRELATED.
TRUCK SHIFTS FROM 5TH GEAR DOWN TO 1ST AND ALSO SHIFTS FROM 1ST GEAR UP TO FIFTH GEAR
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE WITH 34,XXX MILES DOCUMENTED AS VERIFIED. RECENTLY WAS PROVIDED CARFAX FOR THE VEHICLE THAT SAYS IT HAD 60,XXX MILES PREVIOUSLY IN 2017. ALSO VEHICLE SOLD WITHOUT DISCLOSED ACCIDENT .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR AND JERKED FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE'S SPEED DECREASED RAPIDLY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE FOLLOWING DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE DISPLAYED: P0722, P0731, P1500 AND P1548. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER CITED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 12V190000 (POWER TRAIN, EXTERIOR LIGHTING) AND 16V24800 (POWER TRAIN) AS POSSIBLE CAUSES OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR BECAME AJAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR WAS BEING SECURED BY DUCT TAPE. ORLEANS FORD (LOCATED AT 1405 S MAIN ST, MEDINA, NY 14103, (585) 798-4316) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED GUIDANCE IN DIAGNOSING THE ISSUE. IT WAS THEN DETERMINED THAT THE LATCH SPRING HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
POWER STEERING COMPLETE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. SEEMS TO BE A RECALL ON MANY OTHER FORDS. COULD BARELY STEER THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE AND RESTARTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,750.

IN MOTION, TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO LOWER GEAR WHILE SLOWING DOWN.
AT 70K MILES, MY TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO HAVE IT REPLACED COSTING $3200. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY FORD AND THERE IS AN OFFICIAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS DANGEROUS AND CAUSED SERIOUS ACCELERATION ISSUES WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK AS I TRIED TO ACCELERATE UP HILL.
THE BRAKES GAVE OUT AND ALL OF THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE BRAKE WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THERE ARE NO INJURIES INVOLVED, BUT COULD HAVE BEEN FATAL IF ON A HIGHWAY AT SPEED VS IN A PARKING LOT.
WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM A STATE ROAD TO A CITY STREET THE DASH DISPLAY POPPED UP STATING THERE WAS A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND I LOST MY POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY. I WAS ABLE TO FORCEFULLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID GOING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DON'T BELIEVE MY WIFE WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME RESULTS. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP TO BE LOOKED AT. $1600.00 LATER TO REPLACE THE RACK AND PINION STEERING UNIT WHICH INCLUDES THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MECHANISM. I WAS LUCKY TO NOT GET INTO A CRASH. AFTER READING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WHICH DID RESULT IN A CRASH, I FEEL FORD NEEDS TO PUT THIS ON RE CALL NOTICE BEFORE A DEATH OCCURS.
WHEN PARKED WITH IGNITION OFF AND NO ONE IN THE TRUCK DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK WITH KEY OR INSIDE ON THE UNLOCK SWITCH. WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM SOMETIMES YOU CAN UNLOCK AND LOCK REPEATEDLY AND IT WOULD UNLOCK BUT NOW IT WONT DO ANYTHING. BOTH DOORS LOCK FINE BUT WHEN UNLOCKING ONLY THE PASSANGER SIDE DOOR UNLOCKS. THIS IS ON AN EXTENDED CAB XLT.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DOWN A TWO LANE WINDING ROAD. IT WENT FROM BEING EASY TO STEER TO VERY HARD TO STEER. MESSAGE CAME ON STATING SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW.
I HAVE TAKEN MY TRUCK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR 2 YEARS NOW ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WITH A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED MANY PARTS OUTSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION PER THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE WARRANTY COMPANY. THE TRUCK IS NOW NOT IN SAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT IS NOW DROPPING DOWN IN FIRST GEAR AT 65 MPH. I SEE WHERE THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2011-2013 SELECT VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SHIFTING DOWN TO FIRST HAPPENS ALL THE TIME NOW AND HAS PUT ME IN A DIFFICULT SITUATION ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NEARLY CRASHING. WHEN IT DOWNSHIFTS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45-65 IT WILL NOT CONTINUE TO DRIVE SAFELY, IT WILL ONLY GO AT LOW SPEED IN A JERKING MOTION. THE SERVICE DIRECTOR AT CAPITAL FORD IN CHARLOTTE, NC DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM SAID THAT THEY HAVE MADE MANY ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT BUT HAVE NOT YET PIN POINTED THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND IS STATING THAT I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION. PLEASE ADVISE.
THE POWER STEERING UNIT HAD TO BE REPLACED, APPROXIMATELY 5 YEARS OLD AND 70,000 MILES. WE EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUE PREVIOUSLY WITH ANOTHER F150 PREVIOUSLY OWNED. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE AND SHOULD INVOLVE A RECALL. COST FOR THE REPAIR WAS OVER $2000, TOOK 5 DAYS (INCLUDING THE WEEKEND) AND WAS PERFORMED AT A FORD DEALER. TURNING WAS DIFFICULT AND HAD WE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED, IT MAY HAVE LED TO COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. I DRIVE A LOT FOR WORK AND OFTEN ON HIGHWAYS WITH TRACTOR TRAILERS AND HIGHER SPEEDS.
BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILURE: USED 2012 FORD F150 PURCHASED IN OCTOBER 2016. WHEN WE MOVED IN MARCH 2017 TO A HOME WITH A SLIGHT DRIVEWAY SLANT, THERE WERE DAILY BRAKE ISSUES WHERE WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE IT WOULD FEEL STIFF AND FAIL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, WE LEARNED THAT A RECALL HAD BEEN DONE ON OUR MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF VEHICLE DUE TO A VACUUM BRAKE PUMP FAILURE, BUT WERE TOLD THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS MADE AT A DIFFERENT PLANT THEN WHERE THE RECALL WAS VALID FOR. ON 4/24/17 WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT AND WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS "NORMAL" AND CHARGED $83.95 FOR THIS. WITHIN A COUPLE WEEKS WE STARTED HEARING ANOTHER LOUD NOISE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN ON 5/12/17 WHERE THE TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. A MONTH LATER, THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT STARTED COMING ON WHILE DRIVING, BUT IF WE STOPPED AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON IT WOULD STAY OFF (FOR A DAY OR TWO). WE CALLED AND WERE TOLD NOT TO BRING IT IN UNLESS THE LIGHT WAS ACTUALLY ON. A WEEK LATER THE LIGHT CAME ON AND WE TOOK IT INTO AN AUTO SHOP TO HAVE THE CODES READ TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE TO SHOW THE DEALERSHIP. ON 6/21/17 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN WITH THE READINGS AND AT THAT TIME WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR ANY OF THE SERVICE AND WE WERE CHARGED $559.08 FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM THE OTHER VEHICLES HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR AND WHICH WE WERE ORIGINALLY TOLD WAS "NORMAL" TO NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE BRAKES ON OUR VEHICLE FOR 20 SECONDS OR SO WHEN STARTED. AT THIS TIME WE REQUESTED TO SEE WHAT REPAIRS HAD BEEN DONE ON THE VEHICLE IN THE PAST PRIOR TO US PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND OUR LISTED BELOW:3/21/16 REPLACE TIMING CHAIN AT BICKLEY FORD;3/21/16 REPLACE VACUUM PUMP AT BICKLEY FORD;4/8/16 REPLACE HOSES FOR VACUUM PUMP AT BICKLEY FORD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COURTESY FORD LINCOLN (401 PLEASANT VALLEY BLVD, ALTOONA, PA 16602) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFEREED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
2012 FORD F150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKE SYSTEM RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE BRAKES FAIL WHEN REVERSING. I WAS DRIVING NORMAL SPEED AND HAD TO MAKE A QUICK STOP BECAUSE THE TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SHORT IN FRONT OF MY. I SLAMMED THE BRAKES TO STOP AND MY TRUCK DID NOT STOP AND COLLIDED WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS, THE TRUCK JUST DID NOT STOP. I HAD THE BRAKES DONE THE DAY BEFORE AND I DID NOT STOP. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO FORD TO CHECK BRAKE BOOST VACUUM PUMP BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING NOISES. THEY REPLACED IT BECAUSE THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. I BELIEVE THIS IS WHAT CAUSED MY ACCIDENT AND THE INABILITY TO STOP QUICKLY. FORD HAS REPLACED THE PART AND THE BRAKES ARE WORKING PROPERLY BUT THE PUMP IS STILL NOISY. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE RELATED TO THE 2011‐2012 FORD F‐150 EQUIPPED WITH 3.5L GTDI ENGINES EA15‐006 BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILURE

WHEN THE CONTACT SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO DRIVE OVER DRAINAGE DIPS IN THE ROAD, THE TRANSMISSION INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THIS EVENT CAUSED A JARRING JOLTING EFFECT WHILE DRIVING. WESTERN SLOPE AUTO (2264 US-50, GRAND JUNCTION, CO 81505, (970) 243-0843) STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE MANUFACTURER ECHOED THE DEALER AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINE 75,000 MILES, ENGINE NOISE ON STARTUP AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REGISTERING A P0016 CRANKSHAFT/CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR, AND GOES INTO "LIMP MODE" WITH LOSS OF POWER AND POOR ACCELERATION. DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS A RECOGNIZED ISSUE WITH THE TIMING CHAIN AND TSB 14-0194 ADDRESSES THE ISSUE. DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS A $ 1,500- $ 2,000 REPAIR AND IS NOT COVERED BY FORD. TIMING CHAINS SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN SHOCK ABSORBERS.
POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION RECALL: THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION TRAVELING OVER 45 MPH AND AT 70 MPH. THERE IS A SUDDEN AND QUICK, WHAT SEEMS TO BE A DOWNSHIFT OR VERY LOUD POP FROM THE TRANSMISSION/REAR AXLE AND FEELS LIKE THE BACKEND HAS RUN OVER A LARGE OBJECT LIKE A TELEPHONE POLE. SUDDEN AND HARD JERK OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR END WHILE DRIVING OVER 45 MPH. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED SPORADICALLY OVER THE LAST 5 YEARS, AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT TIMES.
WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL, THERE ARE STIFF TO STOP POINTS, CONTROL IS IMPOSABLE, THE TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE . I CAN NOT AFFORD TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR, SPENT ALL I HAD TO BUY THE TRUCK. CITY DRIVING IS TRICKY AND I COULD RUN OVER SOMEONE, I CANT DRIVE MY TRUCK.
ADVANCETRAC SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. TURN SIGNAL QUITS WORKING. JUST LIKE ALL THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY THE STEERING CAN FREEZE UP WHICH IS DEMONSTRATED ON YOU TUBE VIDEOS!!! NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY FORD FOR MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN!!! COULD KILL SOMEONE. THE TRUCK DISPLAYED A SERVICE ADVANCETRAC ERROR, PARTIALLY DISABLING THE TURN SIGNALS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TURN CORNERS TRUCK STEERING WHEEL WILL PULL CAUSING TRUCK TO VEER SHARPER INTO THE TURN. IT WILL ALSO MAKE A SLIGHT NOISE WHEN IT HAPPENS. TRUCK HAS 66000 MILES ON IT.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. DISPLAY SHOWED PSCM ERROR CODE AND POWER STEERING FAILED. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE TRUCK OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND GET ADJUSTED BEFORE TAKING IT TO DEALERSHIP.
AT INITIAL STARTUP AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK CORRECTLY. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE EXACT ISSUE WITH THE 13-14 RECALL. AFTER A COUPLE PUMPS ON THE BRAKES THE PRESSURE IS BACK AND THEY WORK FINE. AS I AM BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES LOCK UP A COUPLE TIMES AND THEN THEY ARE FINE.
I HAVE A 2012 F-150 AND HAVE LOST POWER ALONG WITH THE BODY OF TRUCK SHACKING ON 4 OCCASIONS. WANT TO KNOW HOW MANY THROTTLE BODIES I HAVE HAD - THE ORIGINAL, THE REPLACEMENT IN 2016, ANOTHER REPLACEMENT IN 2016 AND NOW I BROKE DOWN AGAIN YESTERDAY. ACTUALLY ON THE 3RD THROTTLE BODY, MY HUSBAND DROPPED ME OFF TO PICK TRUCK UP AT DEALERSHIP AND I BROKE DOWN IN THE FORD DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT AS I WAS EXITING THE DEALERSHIP. I AGAIN LEFT IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUST ON SOMETHING AND LATER AFTERNOON DELIVERED IT TO MY HOUSE. SO NOW ONE YEAR LATER... ONE YEAR TO THE DAY OF BREAKING DOWN, YESTERDAY 5/11/17, I LOST POWER ON TOP OF A BIG BRIDGE ON THE INSIDE LINE COMING ON TO OUR ISLAND AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD NO ONE WAS IN THE OUTER LANE AND I WAS ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE VERY SMALL AND TIGHT EMERGENCY LANE. PEOPLE ARE USUALLY CRESTING THE BRIDGE AT 60 MPH SO I SAY GOD WAS WATCHING OVER US. WE CALLED 911 AND WAITED IN THE EMERGENCY LANE ON TOP OF BRIDGE AND HAD A POLICE ESCORT OFF THE BRIDGE TO A PARKING LOT. WE WERE AFRAID TO MOVE ON OUR OWN IN CASE SOMEONE CRESTED THE BRIDGE AND WAS CAUGHT OFF GUARD AS WE WERE COASTING DOWN. THE EMERGENCY LANE IS VERY NARROW ON THE BRIDGE AND IT WAS A LITTLE NERVE-WRACKING. AFTER SITTING 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO START THE TRUCK AGAIN WHICH IS ALWAYS THE CASE. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAVE CALLED LEFT MESSAGE TWICE TO SPEAK TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE HAS YET TO CALL ME BACK. WAY TO GO FORD! MY FAITH IN YOU IS LOST. VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE ISSUES DESCRIBED IN FORD'S APRIL 27TH, 2016 RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT OF BAD TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE AND/OR HARDWARE. MY VEHICLE IS SAID TO BE OUTSIDE OF THE DATES THAT WAS AFFECTED. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS OF AROUND 25 MPH (MULTIPLE TIMES) THE SPEEDOMETER BECOMES ERRATIC AND DROPS TO ZERO MPH. THROTTLE IS HELD STEADY. THE TRANSMISSION BOUNCES BETWEEN GEARS AND THEN GOES INTO FIRST GEAR AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE SLOWS ABRUPTLY AND THE REAR TIRES SQUEAL. THE TRUCK WILL AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFT BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING. IT IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT IS A PART OF RECALL 16V248000 BUT OUR SPECIFIC VIN ISN'T A PART OF IT AT THIS TIME. IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AS AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 45 IT DOWNSHIFTS.
ON 5/9/17 I WAS DRIVING MY 2012 F-150 PICKUP ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT CAME TO AN ABRUPT SLOW DOWN AND SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR. IT WAS ENOUGH TO CAUSE A SCREECHING OF THE TIRES AND TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. I EVENTUALLY SLOWED DOWN AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. SINCE I HAVE THE 5 YEAR/100.000 DRIVE-TRAIN WARRANTY. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW FROM TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. AFTER THEY TOOK A LOOKED AT THE TRUCK THEY CALLED BACK AND REPORTED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND SUGGESTED A PCM/TRANSMISSION REPROGRAM. I AGREED TO THIS SERVICE WORK. THINKING THIS INCIDENT WAS VERY STRANGE I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH OF RECALLS FOR FORD TRUCKS. MY SEARCH FOUND A RECALL FOR THE EXACT SYMPTOMS I EXPERIENCED. THE DEALER CALLED AND REPORTED MY TRUCK WAS READY FOR PICKUP. WHEN I WENT TO GET MY TRUCK I QUESTIONED THE SERVICE GUY ABOUT THE RECALL. HE INDICATED THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WITH 2011-2012 FORD TRUCKS BUT MINE DID NOT MEET THE BUILD DATE GUIDELINES TO QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE $58.95 CHARGE FOR THE RE-PROGRAMMING. THIS MADE ME VERY UPSET. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE HAD A VERY DIFFERENT END RESULT IF I WOULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, WENT IN THE DITCH, OR WORSE YET BEEN PULLING MY HORSE TRAILER. I HAVE A 2012 FORD F 150 WITH 66,800 MILES ON IT AND HAVE CHANGED ONE OF THE TURBOS . ABOUT MAY OF 2017 I NOTICED A SHUTTER AND SHAKING OF THE ENGINE, THEN LOSE OF POWER, FAILURE TO ACCELERATE ON HILLS, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWN SHIFT FOR NO REASON OR YOU HAD TO PUT THE GAS PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR TO EVEN MOVE THEN IT WOULD KICK IN AND CAUSE THE WHEELS TO SPIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS TOLD THAT ONE OF THE TURBOS NEEDED REPLACED AT A COST OF $1800, WELL I HAD IT REPLACED AT MY OWN PERSONNEL GARAGE AND AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE 5 MILES IT HAD ALL THE SAME ISSUES. I CALLED THE FORD HOT LINE 3 TIMES ASKING WHAT THEY WILL DO TO FIX MY TRUCK, I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 60000 MILES, I EXPLAINED THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED DOING THIS AND I DID NOT HAUL ANYTHING AND ONLY DROVE IT ABOUT 12000 MILES A YEAR, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS TRYING TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT LOSSES POWER THEN ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING. FORD TOLD ME THERE WERE SOME RECALLS ON THE 3.5 L ECO-BOOST ENGINE BUT NOT ON MY TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN A FORD MAN FOR OVER 40 YEARS, I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW IN 2012 AND FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING BUT CHARGE ME MORE MONEY, I DO NOT BEAT MY TRUCK I BABY IT, I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES, THIS IS NOT MY FAULT IT IS POOR ENGINE DESIGNEE AND FORD SHOULD FIX THIS FOR ME BECAUSE AS I SAID IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ME AND ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD WITH THIS ENGINE.

IT WAS LOCKED IN 11 O'CLOCK ANGLE HEADING TO ON COMING. I TRIED TO CONTROL IT NO TIME IT'S JUST SECOND, I KNOW IT'S GOING TO HIT AND ALL COME OUT IN MY VOICE IS MAMA. THE TIME AFTER ACCIDENT I'M ALL SHAKEN. I'M SO TERRIFIED MY FRIEND TOLD ME I WAS IN SHOCKED FOR A LITTLE WHILE. WHEN I GAIN CONSCIOUSNESS, I SAW MY FRIEND HUBBY TRYING WAKE ME UP. THE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES. TURN SIGNALS WILL NOT WORK UNLESS HELD ON IN THE APPROPRIATE DIRECTION. PRESENTS A DANGER BECAUSE TURN SIGNAL LEVER MUST BE HELD PRIOR TO AND DURING A TURN, LEAVING ONLY ONE HAND TO EXECUTE TURN. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND SO FAR HAS RECOVERED AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME. OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS TURNED SHARPLY INTO OR OUT OF PARKING SPACES.
