BACK OUT OF GARAGE TURNED STEERING WHEEL TO LEFT; PUT IN DRIVE PULLED AHEAD , ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT CAME ON AND SERVICE ADVANCE LIGHT ALSO CAME ON . IF YOU DON'T RESET LIGHT THE SIGNAL LIGHTS DON'T WORK UNLESS YOU HOLD THE LEVER UP OR DOWN IT BRING CODES UP C1B00 AND U0428-20 ANDU2101 WHICH DEALER SAYS STEERING SENSOR IS BAD BUT NOT SERVICEABLE SO YOU NEED NEW ELECTRIC STEERING RACK. THIS IS ON A 2012 F150XLT AND THERE IS NO RECALL BUT I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ALSO I THINK IT IS A POWER TRAIN ISSUE. *TR
ENGINE SHUT OFF COMPLETELY A BIG WRENCH CAME UP ON THE SCREEN WHERE THE MPG AND STUFF ARE ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED DUE TO RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. *TR
VEHICLE ENGINE STALLED DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED (70 MPH). ENGINE WENT INTO SAFE MODE. SIMILAR PROBLEM OCCURRED IN THE PAST (01/04/2013). REPAIR WAS PERFORMED UNDER TSB 13-8-1 AND PREVIOUSLY UNDER TSB12-10-19 (INCIDENT 01/04/2013). CORRECTIVE ACTION BOTH TIMES WAS TO INSTALL AIR DEFLECTOR PLATE AND REPLACE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOR BOTH OCCURRENCES. FORD SAYS THE PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS ON THE 6 CYLINDER ECOBOOST ENGINE AFTER DRIVING EXTENDED DISTANCES AT PROLONGED HIGHWAY SPEED. IF I HAD BEEN TOWING MY RV TRAILER AT EITHER TIME, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. MY ISSUE IS THAT TWO TSB'S HAVE BEEN ISSUED BY FORD FOR THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE REQUIRED FIXES ARE IDENTICAL BUT NOT SURE IF THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE ANYMORE. I SUGGEST FORD ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL ECOBOOST POWERED VEHICLES.
BRAKING FAILS SPORADICALLY WHEN STARTING FORWARD OR REVERSE. UNABLE TO STOP. ONCE MOVING PROBLEM APPEARS TO GO AWAY. IDENTICAL TO DESCRIPTIONS GIVEN IN OTHER 2012 RECALL ON BRAKE FAILURE. VEHICLE HAS 31K MILES, AND PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE AROUND 24K MILES. BECOMING MORE FREQUENT.
WHEN TRYING TO MOVE MY 2012 F150 TRUCK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD ONLY TURN TO THE LEFT SIDE. WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT GO PAST THE CENTER POSITION. I TRIED BACKING IT UP AND THEN GOING FORWARD BUT NOTHING WOULD GET THE WHEEL TO TURN TO THE RIGHT SIDE PAST THE CENTER STEERING WHEEL POSITION. I TRIED TURNING THE VEHICLE ON AND RESTARTED MANY TIMES BUT NOTHING WOULD FREE IT UP. AFTER WORKING WITH IT FOR 40 MINUTES AND NOT ABLE TO GET IT OUT OF THE PARKING LOT I SHUT IT OFF AND I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2 1/2 WEEKS AND CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN THERE WAS SNOW AND ICE ON THE HIGHWAYS I PUT MY TRUCK IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND WHEN TURNED BACK INTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE I BEGAN TO NOTICE A GRINDING AND VIBRATION NOISE THAT OCCURRED WHEN TURNING. THEN COUPLE WEEKS LATER THE NOISE STARTED WHEN BACKING OUT CAUSING TRUCK TO SHAKE AND LOSE POWER TO BARELY BACK OUT. THIS NOISE CONTINUED AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE. WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND LOOKED OVER. UPDATES WERE MADE AS WELL AS OIL CHANGE BUT DAYS LATER NOISE CAME BACK. SINCE 2/12/15 MY TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOUR TIMES AND HAS PERFORMED RECOMMENDATIONS BY FORD BUT DAYS LATER NOISE COMES BACK. THE LAST TIME MY TRUCK WAS IN I WAS TOLD BY THE OWNER AND SERVICE MANAGER MY TRUCK IS NOT FIXABLE AS THEY WERE INFORMED OTHER 2012 F150'S ARE HAVING SAME ISSUES AND AN INVESTIGATION IS BEING DONE. SINCE THIS MY TRUCK IS SHAKING MORE BACKING UP, JERKING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AS IF LOSING POWER THAN WILL GAIN POWER AND JOLT FORWARD, I HEAR THIS GRINDING NOISE ALL THE TIME WHEN DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS FROM 30-60 MPH, TURNS, AND BACKING UP. THE OTHER ISSUE IS WHEN TRUCK GETS TO 60 MPH OR HIGHER IT DOES NOT SHIFT DOWN UNLESS I LET UP ON PEDAL AND THEN PUSH IT AGAIN. I AM FEELING UNSAFE IN THIS VEHICLE AS TWICE NOW I HAVE HEARD A POPPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING WITH THIS NOISE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING FOR ME. I WANT TO GET RID OF THIS TRUCK AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT LIKE THIS. *TR
I WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY (I-95) WAITING OUT A HEAVY RAINSTORM. UPON PULLING BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY, MY TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, LOST POWER, SHOOK AND ALMOST STALLED OUT..I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A TRUCK. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW. THE FIRST TIME WAS JAN -14 UNDER THE SAME LOCATION AND CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO APPROACH TRAFFIC ONTO THE INTERSTATE. I WAS APPROACHING HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH AND LOSS POWER TO THE VEHICLE. I HAD TO SWERVE ONTO THE MEDIAN TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH AN 18 WHEELER. IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME. *TR
AFTER DRIVING IN RAINING CONDITIONS FOR MORE THAN FOUR HOURS, I ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN I ACCELERATED, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. BECAUSE OF THIS, I NEARLY CAUSE A MULTIPLE CAR ACCIDENT DO TO MY INABILITY TO CONTROL MY TRUCKS RAPIDLY REDUCING SPEED. THE SAME ISSUE OR TYPE OF ISSUE OCCURRED IN LATE AUGUST OF 2013 WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. UPON ACCELERATION ATTEMPT, THE ENGINE REDUCED POWER, FAILED TO RESPOND AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. A FORD DEALERSHIP COMPLETED TSB-13-8-1, HOWEVER, IT WAS RELUCTANTLY DONE AS NO CODE WOULD VERIFY A PROBLEM. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, WHO ONCE I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING, TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE TSB-13-8-1 PERFORMED. I MENTIONED IT HAD BEEN PERFORMED AND WAS TOLD THAT UNLESS A CODE COULD VERIFY A PROBLEM, NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM, WITH MANY OCCURRENCES. THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE KILLED IF SOMEONE DOESN'T CORRECT THE ISSUE. IT IS NOT SOMETHING THAT CAN BE "CREATED" BY A MECHANIC TO, IT ONLY HAPPENS IN REAL-LIFE SITUATIONS. IS THERE SOMETHING SOMEONE CAN DO TO MAKE FORD RESEARCH, IDENTIFY AND CORRECT THIS ISSUE BEFORE EVEN ONE DEATH? *TR
3.5L ECOBOOST F150 BEGAN TO SHUDDER AND FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO KEEP IT FROM CONTINUING TO SHUDDER. THIS HAS HAPPEN REPEATEDLY ON AT LEAST 4 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS! DEALERSHIP SAYS IT SHOW NO CODES FOR MISFIRES??? *TR
GEARS FLASH ON AND OFF, THEN THE ACCELERATOR SLOWS DOWN. GOES INTO NUETRAL AUTOMATICALLY. RANDOMLY SHIFTS BETWEEN GEARS CAUSING TRUCK TO PICK UP SPEED OR DRASTICALLY LOSE SPEED WITHOUT WARNING. SHIFTS VERY HARD AS WELL. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AS WELL AS ON THE HIGHWAY. SEEMS TO HAPPEN EVERYTIME I DRIVE ABOVE 65MPH, BUT OCCASIONALLY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THE RANDOM SHIFTING OF GEARS HAPPENED FIRST AROUND 4 YEARS AGO, BUT HAS BEEN A SAFETY RISK FOR THE LAST 5-6 MONTHS DUE TO THE INCREASE IN IT HAPPENING.
THIS IS THE 2ND (AND 3RD, 4TH, 5TH) INSTANCE OF A PROBLEM I ORIGINALLY DESCRIBED IN ODI 10659481. AGAIN, AFTER TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE FOR A FEW HOURS IN VERY LIGHT RAIN, THE ENGINE FAILED TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY WHILE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC FROM AN ON-RAMP. THIS CREATED A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION, WITH TRAFFIC BEARING DOWN ON US FROM BEHIND AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH AND STEADY TRAFFIC ALSO IN THE LEFT LANES. UNLIKE THE EARLIER OCCURRENCE ON OCT 28, THE TRUCK DID NOT SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THE CHECK-ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) DID NOT FLASH. HOWEVER, THE TRUCK WAS NOTICEABLY VIBRATING AND VERY SLOW TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED. BECAUSE FORD HAD DECLINED TO MAKE REPAIRS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT DUE TO ODB CODES REPORTEDLY NOT BEING PRESENT, I HAD PURCHASED MY OWN ODB-II SCAN TOOL. INDEED, NO CODES WERE LOGGED FOR THIS INCIDENT EITHER. ON DEC 28 I TRAVELED 550 ADDITIONAL MILES ON INTERSTATE IN STEADY RAIN. I TESTED THE ENGINE 3 SEPARATE TIMES BY ATTEMPTING SUSTAINED HARD ACCELERATION. EACH TIME THE TRUCK SHOOK AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY, THE CEL FINALLY ILLUMINATED STEADY AND MISFIRE CODES WERE LOGGED P0304, P0305 AND P0306. IN SUMMARY, I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS F-150 ECOBOOST ENGINE FAILURE FIVE TIMES, BUT ODB CODES WERE NOT LOGGED ON THE FIRST TWO WHEN ATTEMPTING REAL-WORLD CRITICAL MANEUVERS. THE CODES WERE ONLY LOGGED DURING INTENTIONAL TESTING FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME. I AM CONFIRMING THAT THIS IS THE SAFETY DEFECT AS DESCRIBED IN FORD TSB 13-8-1 "3.5L GTDI - INTERMITTENT STUMBLE/MISFIRE ON ACCELERATION FROM HIGHWAY CRUISE IN HUMID OR DAMP CONDITIONS". IT IS PARTICULARLY CONCERNING THAT EVIDENCE OF THIS DEFECT IS NOT ALWAYS LOGGED BY THE VEHICLE COMPUTER AND CUSTOMERS ARE THEREFORE BEING DENIED THE PRESCRIBED REPAIRS. IT IS ALSO CONCERNING THAT FUEL MILEAGE HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY IMPAIRED (ABOUT 3 MPG HIGHWAY) SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE. *TR
2012 F150 ECOBOOST ENGINE.LOSS OF POWER AND TRUCK SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEED FROM POSSIBLE MISFIRING. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALSO, BUT TURNED OFF SOON AFTER EVENT. TOOK TO DEALER TO CHECK, DEALER SAID TO CHANGE SPARK PLUGS AND BOOTS. DEALER DID NOT MENTION PREVIOUS OR CURRENT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS. *TR
AFTER PULLING IN TO MY DRIVEWAY, ONE OF THE REAR WINDOWS ON MY F-150 SHATTERED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I HAD THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ON. THE WINDOW SHATTERED SHORTLY AFTER I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND CLOSED THE DOOR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE ON F-150 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER SYSTEM AND 3-PIECE SLIDING WINDOW. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO KOONS FORD OF ANNAPOLIS, MARYLAND AND WAS TOLD THAT WHILE IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON ISSUE, FORD WOULD LIKELY NOT COVER THE REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY, AS THEY HADN'T IN THE PAST. I WAS QUOTED $694 FOR A REPLACEMENT. LUCKILY THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, LIKE IT HAS FOR MANY OTHER PEOPLE. *TR
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN THE VEHICLE MAKES A KIND OF MOANING SOUND. AT FIRST WE WERE TOLD IT MIGHT BE THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS GOING OUT BUT WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR WHICH WOULD COST US $1645 TO FIX. THIS IS A 2012 VEHICLE THAT GETS REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE, IS DRIVEN TO AND FROM WORK AND ON HIGHWAYS AND INTERSTATES. THERE'S NO REASON THIS SHOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED AFTER LESS THAN THREE YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT WITH THIS SYSTEM AND FORD IS RECALLING THEIR 2014 F150'S DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I THINK THEY NEED TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL TO INCLUDE 2012'S. *TR
WHILE PARKED AND WARMING UP, HEATER FAN MOTOR SEIZED UP, CONTINUED TO GENERATE HEAT AND IGNITED RESULTING IN EXTENSIVE INTERIOR BURN AND TOTAL LOSS FIRE. *TR
ON DECEMBER 19, 2014 AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, TURN SIGNAL AND POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2012 FORD F150. THIS IS AFTER THE ADVANCE TRACTION WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER. THE FORD DEALER UPDATED AND REPROGRAMED THE ABS MODULE. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE BACK ON DECEMBER 22 THE POWER STEERING, TURN SIGNAL, AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEM REOCCURRED AS IT WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER ON DECEMBER 22. THIS TIME THEY FOUND A FAULTY PSCM (POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE) THAT WAS LOSING COMMUNICATION ONCE HOT. THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY AND APPLICABLE HARDWARE. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAD 42,704 MILES WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED.
EACH MORNING, WHEN I PULL THE TRUCK OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE BRAKES SOMETIMES DO NOT WORK. SOMETIMES, IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STOP THE TRUCK. I HEARD IT MIGHT BE A VACUUM ISSUE, BUT IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME, SUMMER WINTER, ETC. TRUCK WAS STATIONARY TO BEGIN WITH. THE BRAKES SOMETIMES MAKE A LOUD NOISE, AS WELL. IT'S HAPPENED EVER SINCE I BOUGHT IT, LAST YEAR.
I WAS WITH MY FAMILY ON THE WAY TO CHURCH. I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN OUT OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS IN POWER AND WAS UNABLE TO RESUME ACCELERATION. THE HIGHWAY ALSO HAS A MODERATE INCLINE IN SLOPE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DRAMATICALLY. WE WERE ALMOST REAR-ENDED FROM THE CAR HEADING IN THE SAME DIRECTION WHICH WAS ORIGINALLY A SUBSTANTIAL DISTANCE AWAY. LUCKILY THE CAR THAT WAS APPROACHING FROM BEHIND WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN FAST ENOUGH CONSIDERING WE HAD A 1 YEAR AND 4 YEAR OLD SON IN THE BACK SEAT. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THE EARLIEST APPOINTMENT THEY COULD OFFER TO CHECK THE PROBLEM WAS ON WEDNESDAY 10/10/2014. THIS IS OVER 3 DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 40,000 MILES ON IT SO I BEGAN RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE. I DISCOVERED THAT THERE ARE MORE THAN A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS AND IT SEEMS FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND IS EVEN ATTEMPTING TO MODIFY THE AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM AND RE FLASH THE PCM. WITH ISSUES LIKE THE MILLIONS OF VEHICLES BEING RECALLED FOR AIRBAGS THAT HAVE LED TO SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH, FAR BEYOND THE MANUFACTURE ORIGINALLY BECOMING AWARE OF THE ISSUES. HOW LONG IS THE ISSUE REGARDING THE 2011-2013 FORD F150 ECOBOOST GOING TO REMAIN SHOVED UNDER THE RUG? HOW MANY LIVES HAVE TO BE LOST BEFORE FORD TAKES ACCOUNTABILITY FOR PUTTING THE PUBLIC AT RISK. IN THEIR REPORT TO THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE (ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE), IT IS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED A DEFECT IN THE 2012 FORD F150 AND THE ECOBOOST ENGINES WITHIN THE TRUCKS. CAN YOU HELP ME UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY THEY ARE NOT BEING HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR RISKING THE LIVES OF MANY PEOPLE. ALSO, WHY IS THE NHTSA ALLOWING FORD TO SHRUG THIS OFF AND CLOSE THIS INVESTIGATION? THERE IS A CLEAR DEFECT PRESENT THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL OF LEADING TO LOSS OF LIFE. IS THIS NOT PURE NEGLIGENCE? *TR
HEAR A WHINING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION/REAR OF TRUCK AS TRUCK ACCELERATES, UPON DECELERATION AFTER AND BEFORE DOWN-SHIFTING, AND WHEN CRUISING AT A CONSTANT SPEED WHEN TRANSMISSION 'CATCHES' TO MAINTAIN SPEED. RESEARCHED AND FOUND TSB 13-6-4; TRUCK WAS MADE BETWEEN DATES AND DESCRIBES NOISE ACCURATELY - SPOKE TO FORD SERVICE CENTER AND TRUCK FITS WITHIN MANUFACTURER DATES OF TSB, BUT NOT SPECIFIC ENGINE, JUST TRANSMISSION. TOLD ISSUE WASN'T "RECALL WORTHY" BECAUSE IT ISN'T A 'SAFETY' ISSUE, BUT IF MY TRANSMISSION LOCKS UP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS WILL BE A 'SAFETY ISSUE'.
REMOTE STARTED TRUCK WHICH ACTIVATED THE REAR DEFROST, BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A POP AND MY DAUGHTER CRYING. I ASKED HER WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND SHE STATED SHE DID KNOW (AS WELL AS A 2.5 YEAR OLD CAN) AND THEN I NOTICED THE WINDOW BEHIND HER HEAD WAS SHATTERED, BUT INTACT. THIS IS THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW ON THE BACK GLASS. *TR
THERE WAS A MISFIRE AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS HAPPENED 5 TIMES BEFORE THE COMPUTER SHOWED THERE WAS AN ISSUE. ON THE THIRD TIME I HAD FORD INSTALL THE DEFLECTOR TO KEEP WATER AWAY FROM THE TURBO CHARGERS. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED THE COMPUTER FINALLY SHOWED A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT. THE COMPUTER WAS SHOWING MISFIRES IN 3 CYLINDERS. WHEN I GOT THE VEHICLE TO FORD IT WAS ONLY SHOWING ONE CYLINDER HAVING HAD A MISFIRE. I HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY FOR 6 HOURS WITH INTERMITTENT RAIN, ABOUT 3.5 HOURS SINCE LAST STOP, 1/2 TANK OF GAS REMAINING. LOCATION WAS I-65 NORTH NEAR ELIZABETHTOWN, KY, 11:15 PM, WITH MIST, WET ROAD AND SPRAY. WEATHER RECORDS INDICATE 50 DEGREES AND FALLING, LIGHT RAIN, 84% HUMIDITY. I HAD THE F-150 IN 4WD-AUTO MODE DUE TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS. FOR SEVERAL MILES ANOTHER CAR HAD BEEN CONTINUALLY STAYING IN MY BLIND SPOT IN THE LANE IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT, DESPITE ATTEMPTS TO CLEAR WITH GRADUAL REDUCTIONS/INCREASES IN MY SPEED. MY GENERAL CRUISING SPEED WAS ABOUT 70 MPH. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE TO GET OUT OF THE WEDGE AND GET ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND THE ENGINE BEGAN EXTREME SPUTTERING AND DECELERATING. I WAITED FOR A CLEARING IN TRAFFIC AND PULLED BACK IN AND ACCELERATED WITH NO PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM CORRECTED THAT QUICKLY WITH OUT ME SHUTTING IT OFF. THE TRUCK HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR THE REST OF A 250 MILE TRIP. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE ENDED UP VERY BAD AND IT SHOOK MY WIFE UP EMOTIONALLY. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ONE MORE TIME ON THE RETURN TRIP ON 9/13/14. SIMILAR WEATHER, BUT NOT QUITE AS WET. THIS TIME WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED I WAS IN A PASSING LANE AND HAD A SLIGHT INCLINE AND A SEMI WAS DROPPING DOWN IN SPEED AND I WENT TO PASS ACCELERATING FROM 55 TO ABOUT 65 MPH, MOVING INTO THE PASSING LANE. AS I ACCELERATED THE TRUCK HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN. THIS TIME THE SITUATION WAS NOT AS DIRE AS I RECOGNIZED IT, SIGNALED, MOVED BACK INTO THE SLOW LANE AND THEN SHOULDER. OTHER THAN UPSETTING OTHER MOTORISTS AS I SLOWED DOWN NO ENDANGERMENT TO LIFE OCCURRED. *TR
REVERSING VEHICLE AS IN A PARALLEL PARKING MANEUVER WITH STEERING LOCKED, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING DISPLAYED. VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY BUT TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT STAY ON WHEN ACTIVATED. SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY RESET LATER AFTER VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED BUT WARNING RETURNED DURING SAME TYPE OF MANEUVER. DEALER DIAGNOSED CODE C1963 AND C1B00. STEERING RACK AND PINION (AKA STEERING GEAR) WAS REPLACED. CODE C1B00 INDICATES ISSUE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR. THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) IN THE F150 HAS NO SERVICEABLE PARTS SO WHEN THE SENSOR GOES BAD, THE RACK GOES BAD. VERY COINCIDENTAL THAT FORD RECALLED 2014 F150S FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM (SEE NHTSA RECAII14V316.) *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 F150 ECOBOOST AT 55MPH I HAD TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. 75DEGREES OUTSIDE WITH LIGHT RAIN. THE MOTOR STUMBLED AND LOST POWER. SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT APPEARED. I LET OF THE ACCELERATOR AND TRUCK REGAINED POWER. TO SHOP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND COMPUTER SHOWED 3 CYLINDER MISFIRES. THIS HAPPENS CONSTANTLY AND FORD REFUSES TO COME WITH A SOLUTION. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A FATALITY BEFORE SOMEONE CARE? *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE SPEED OF APPROX. 70 MPH, I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE GOING UP A SLIGHT HILL. THERE WAS A SHUDDER AND THEN THE VEHICLE LOST ENGINE SPEED. I WENT FROM 70 MPH TO 55 MPH WITHOUT THE ABILITY TO MAINTAIN ANY SPEED, I WAS NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES. I COULD NOT COMPLETE THE PASS AND HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IF I TRIED TO MAINTAIN SPEED OR ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY, WAKING UP MY FAMILY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND JUST FLASHED. I PULLED FROM THE DRIVING LANE AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE THE DRIVE, HAD TO BE VERY MINDFUL OF MY ACCELERATION. IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME THE NEXT MORNING, AGAIN PASSING; SHUDDER AND THEN AN INABILITY TO MAINTAIN SPEED OR INCREASE IT. I PULLED OVER THIS TIME THE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I WILL BE TAKING IT TO A DEALER THIS WEEK. I WAS TRAVELING FOR APPROX. TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRST EVENT. IT WAS RAINING DURING THE FIRST EVENT, THE SECOND EVENT IT WAS PARTLY CLOUDY. *TR
