DRIVING AT 70 MPH AND TRIED TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO TAKE VEHICLE OFF CRUISE CONTROL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SO FIRM THAT I COULDN'T PUSH IT, ALMOST LIKE THE BRAKES WERE FROZEN. VERY SCARY SITUATION ON SNOWY ROADS AND 70 MPH. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN IT WAS COLD. SINCE THEN THE BRAKE VACUUM BOOSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED BUT THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN WORSE. NOW WHEN I START THE VEHICLE, I HAVE TO WAIT SEVERAL SECONDS FOR VACUUM TO BUILD UP BEFORE THE PEDAL SOFTENS UP. THE BRAKE VACUUM PUMP BEHIND THE DRIVERS SIDE HEADLAMP HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND PROBLEM STILL EXIST.
AFTER PURCHASING THIS 2012 F150 W/ECOBOOST V-6, I WANTED TO SEE HOW GOOD OF GAS MILEAGE I COULD GET OUT OF IT. I ALSO WANTED TO BREAK THE VEHICLE IN BEFORE ANY HARD ACCELERATIONS. WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, I WOULD GRADUALLY MAKE IT UP TO HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I TREATED THE VEHICLE GINGERLY UNTIL I WANTED TO TEST THE CAPABILITIES OF THIS ECOBOOST ENGINE I HAD HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT. IT WAS A COLD JANUARY EVENING AND THERE WAS NO UNUSUAL WEATHER (NO RAIN OR SNOW). I HAD BEEN CRUISING AT CONSTANT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR. THE ROAD HAD NARROWED FROM A 4 LANE HIGHWAY TO A 2 LANE. I WAS STUCK BEHIND A VEHICLE TRAVELING JUST ABOVE 50 MPH. I REACHED A PASSING ZONE AND DECIDED TO TEST THE PERFORMANCE OF THE ENGINE/TRUCK. I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO THE FLOOR AND THE ENGINE SPIT AND SPUTTERED. I DECIDED TO EASE OFF IMMEDIATELY FOR OUR SAFETY. NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED AS RESULT OF THIS ENGINE PROBLEM. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, I HAVE NOTICED THAT AT CRUISING SPEEDS, THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ENGINE MISS AROUND 60 MPH WHILE GOING UP A SLIGHT GRADE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT (ENGINE) DOES NOT START AS QUICKLY. THE KEY HAS TO BE HELD LONGER. THESE PROBLEMS ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF THE DAMAGE CAUSED TO THE ENGINE AFTER THE VERY FIRST HARD ACCELERATION. *TR
TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. GOT UP TO 55 TO 60 MPH LOST POWER TRANSMISSION STARED JERKING. POWER CAUGHT BACK UP AND LUNGED FORWARD. AT TIMES THE ENGINE STALLS AND CATCHES BACK UP. AT TIMES WHEN YOU PUT IT IN GEAR IT FEELS LIKE THE POWER TRAIN IS BUMPING AS THOUGH YOUR GETTING STUCK ARE HIT FROM BEHIND. *TR
I HAD SLOWED DOWN TO EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY TO GET ON ANOTHER FREEWAY. WHEN I PUSHED THE ACCELERATOR, THE TRUCK STARTED TO SHUTTER, SHAKE, AND LOSE POWER. I TOOK MY FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND LET THE TRUCK COAST A SHORT DISTANCE. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN, THE TRUCK SEEMED FINE. IT DID THIS TWICE ON THE SAME DAY. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE TRUCK WAS FINE. I HAVE AN ECO-BOOST V-6 ENGINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150 CREW CAB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH COVERS OVER THE FENDER WELLS OF THE ENGINE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE WHO STATED TO THE CONTACT THAT THEY NO LONGER OFFERED THE FEATURE AND THAT HE COULD PURCHASE ONE AT HIS EXPENSE OF $300. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND CONFIRMED THE DEALER'S STATEMENT. THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
WHILE UNDER ACCELERATION IN TRAFFIC, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, EXPLOSION, FIRE, LOST OIL PRESSURE, ALMOST GOT INTO ACCIDENT DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED IT AS INTERCOOLER COLLECTED CONDENSATION THAT GOT SUCKED INTO ENGINE INTAKE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO EXPLODE A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK. INTERCOOLER STILL HAD OVER A SIP OF WATER IN IT. *TR
I PROCEEDED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE ON I-75 JUST NORTH OF CHATTANOOGA, TN. THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND I HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE EMERGENCY LANE VERY QUICKLY AS THE TRUCK LOST SPEED RAPIDLY. I HAD TO TURN ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON TO GET POWER BACK. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAD TO REPLACE A PART. IT HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER EVER SINCE AND THE TRUCK HAS REPEATED THIS PROBLEM APPROXIMATELY 5 MORE TIMES. THE SERVICE DEPT WAS KIND OF VAGUE ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT THEY JUST KEPT TELLING ME IT WOULD NOT HURT THE ENGINE. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC PULLING A TRAILER I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TRUCK DOWN SHIFTED BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK WILL DROP INTO 3RD GEAR AND WILL NOT EXCEED 4000 RPM. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 OR 4 TIMES. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WITHOUT A TRAILER. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF TO GET IT TO GO. SOMETIMES I CAN JUST COME OFF THE PEDAL AND PRESS IT AGAIN TO CORRECT. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER HAS REPROGRAMMED THE TRUCK SEVERAL TIMES AND REPLACED THE CONVERTERS TWICE. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO BUY BACK THE TRUCK BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED YET. THE TRUCK IS GOING BACK INTO THE SHOP TOMORROW AND I AM CONSIDERING UTILIZING THE LEMON LAW. *TR
THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS ON MY 2012 FORD F-150 ECOBOOST HAVE EXCESSIVE RUST/CORROSION. SEPARATING ARMS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN LINKED TO STEERING PROBLEMS UP TO AND INCLUDING A CRASH. *TR
PRESSED GAS TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE AND IT BOGGED AND HAD A MAJOR LOSS OF POWER. IT WAS RAINING OUT AND IT FELT AS THE TRUCK SUCKED SOME WATER INTO THE ENGINE, RESEARCH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE IT WAS THE CAC, OR INTERCOOLER. *TR
2012 FORD F150 WITH ECOBOOST MILEAGE 2,500 - DRIVING FOR APPROX. 2HRS ON HIGHWAY - RAINING OFF/ON THROUGHOUT DRIVE - WHEN ACCELERATING TO PASS A VEHICLE GOING UPHILL THE F150 LOST POWER AND BOGGED DOWN - STUTTERING ALONG - HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER TO SLOW LANE - TO AVOID POSSIBLE ACCIDENT WITH TRAFFIC THAT WAS APPROACHING IN FAST LANE. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO STUTTER ALONG AT VARIOUS TIMES AFTER THE 3 HR TRIP. NO PROBLEMS SINCE BUT TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN USED MUCH (3,600 MILES NOW). SAW ON OTHER FORUMS AND THIS SITE THAT OTHER F150'S WITH ECOBOOST ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALER - THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE ECOBOOST. I SHOWED THEM THE PRINTOUT FROM THIS SITE HIGHLIGHTING THE TSB 12-6-4, WHICH THEY ARE GOING TO DO. MY FATHER PURCHASED THE SAME TRUCK AND HE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO HIM THIS SEPTEMBER. HOPE THIS WORKS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
MY SON WAS GOING TO WORK AND FORGOT HIS PHONE CAME BACK TO GET IT SOMETHING RAN IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK AND HE HIT AN OAK TREE IN OUR FRONT YARD KNOCKED HIM COLD,,AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, I OPENED THE DOOR NO RESPONSE,,,SHUCK HIM HE CAME TO SO I TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL HEAD INJURIES AND BRUISED RIB,S,THE BODY SHOP SAID TO CALL FORD MOTOR COMP, TO COME CHECK THE AIR BAG,S WHY THEY DID NOT GO OFF THAT REFUSED,CALLED THEM AGAIN THEY SAID TO BAD,NOW MY SON IS NOT THE SAME ,AND FORD MOTOR COMP DOES NOT CARE SAID THEY WOULD DO NOTHING,HE MIGHT NOT HAVE HIT HIS HEAD IF THE AIRBAG HAD DEPLOYED,WHAT CAN I DO?[XXX]THANK YOU AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR
