The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, the transmission malfunctioned and erroneously down shifted causing the engine RPM’s to rev very high while the vehicle decelerated. During the failure, the hill descent and check engine light warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, there were several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the engine was faulty. The contact indicated that the vehicle was included in the NHTSA campaign number: 19V075000 (Power Train) and the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,000.
Truck going from 6 gear down to first but every service center tells me I cannot get a appointment not even be place on the waiting list due to lack of technicians, I need help because my truck is not safe to drive
The vehicle will downshift from any higher gear to first gear with no warning at any speed. the rear tires sqeal and the whole truck jolts. It is happening more often in the last month.
From Ford's customer satisfaction web, shows no recalls, but shows 19N01 – Transmission Molded Leadframe Extended Coverage – 2011-2013 Ford F-150. Symptoms are speedometer will go to 0. Many reported cases the transmission will downshift from 6th gear into 3rd. My case was intermittent... I'd get speedometer 0mph loss of power general solution was to stop vehicle, stop engine restart. Depending on highway conditions this was at times only uncomfortable. My last event was awkward, it occurred multiple times within a less than 10 mile drive. Multiple stops/restarts the engine accelerated to 40-50mph while I did not have my foot on the accelerator. I decided to take to local transmission shop, where they were told by multiple suppliers he could not purchase the part because there was a service recall. I used the Ford Customer satisfaction web site, researched this, to find my truck exceeded the mileage for Ford to service this. So I was in a catch 22, Ford would not fix under recall, and would not sell the part to a service facility. I called the satisfaction line, explained the problem they transferred me to Ford corp, and told me to explain to executive for service. I listened to the voice mail identifying to leave a message and they would get back to me in 48 business hours. I called two times 7/2 - expecting a call back by 7/6, the again 7/7. I have received no call back. Initially my goal was simply to have them clear the way to purchase the molded leadframe or to sell this to the transmission shop so I could have my truck repaired. During this time I investigated other's that had this problem, with some very disturbing results. Truck violently decelerating by downshifting from 6th at highwayspeeds to 3rd. On occasion I haul my tractor, I was considering what happened if towing a trailer and a sudden downshift? What if the roads were wet? Clearly this is a safety issue, where Ford believes at over 150k miles they are much safer to drive.
My problem sounds like this issue: https://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1104150_2013-2014-ford-f-150-recalled-to-fix-brake-fluid-leak-271000-trucks-affected My wife was driving the truck when a low brake fluid warning light came on and the brake pedal went to the floor. She was able to pump the pedal a bit to get the truck to slow down. Luckily she was on a street and not the highway and was able able pull off into a parking lot and coast to a stop. She left the truck there. I went to the truck and added a bottle of brake fluid the next morning. The reservoir looked empty prior to me adding the fluid. I drove the truck 1.9 miles to a garage and had almost no braking power. I kept the truck in a low gear to control speed and had to pump the brakes at stop signs and traffic lights along the way to get it to stop. At one point the brakes weren't working at all and I almost rolled out into a cross street into a passing truck that was going approx 40mph. I kept pumping and came to a stop in the lane and the passing truck was able to swerve around me to avoid a collision. When I got to the garage I checked the reservoir and the brake fluid level had dropped back below minimum on that short drive. The mechanic investigated the issue and told me the master cylinder had a leak and would need to be replaced. It was basically failing. The total for the repairs will be around $750. Thankfully my wife was on a city street and not on the highway when the master cylinder failed. Otherwise this could have ended in disaster. I called Ford and they said my truck was not covered by the recall, even though it was a 2013 Ecoboost with the 3.5L engine and came out of the the Kansas City plant as mentioned in the recall article linked above. I wanted to report it to put it on your radar in case others experience this issue. It seems like a major safety hazard.
Driving at any speed, the "Ford wrench" appears in the gauge cluster, the speedometer goes to zero, transmission gear light does not respond to speed changes (slowing down or speeding up), airbag light comes on, all other indications blank out; i.e. fuel mileage, miles to go before empty, etc. Does not throw engine codes to find with normal OBD reader. Changed out throttle body but did not fix issue. Detailed sources saying its a transmission problem with the PCM or transmission lead frame and that Ford knows about it but will not put out a safety recall to get it replaced. Safety put at risk due to already recalled problem of sudden downshift to 1st gear. Ford recalled with a reprogramming of the PCM to fix this issue but unsure if it actually fixed due to the above happening. Obviously, this is bad. Paraphrasing, Ford Dealer says if they cant observe it, it doesn't exist. No warning lamps appeared before everything happened, in first paragraph above, all at once.
Moonroof guides/track. The plastic components fail on hundreds of thousands of these trucks F150/250/350+ Ford knows full well but sits on its hands. They refuse to sell a simple repair kit and charge $1200 for the entire moonroof assembly. Then 6 hours labor to take the headliner down and install. So over $2000 for something that really should only fail in a handful of vehicles. I've owned 5 different cars with these types of roof and never had an issue even after 10 years with a few of the ones I've owned. There are aftermarket repair kits that range from $25 for cheap off-shore kits to $119 for a US made kit. Ford is shirking their responsibility for a poorly engineered and manufactured part and basically fleecing these truck owners.
Horrible timing chain rattle upon cold start up. 73K Miles and Ford is very aware of this issue on the 3.5 liter ecoboost engines and will not address but they have changed the designs in the newer year models. Have videos to prove issue and dealer would not help even with extended warranty
Went to leave parking lot and low brake fluid warning light appeared. No brake fluid in master cylinder..repair was replace master cylinder and booster .Fluid drained from master cylinder into booster. This is a recall on 2013 f150 with 3.5 engine but not on the 5.0!!!!!
After changing oil, mechanic was backing truck off ramp and experienced sudden difficulty steering. The mechanic attempted to drive truck to determine steering issue when the steering failed completely. Mechanic determined EPAS has failed and entire rack had to be replaced and programmed.
I was driving on the instate this morning and my brakes totally went out. After I was able to get vechicle stopped I drove slowly to a local shop. I car repair place was the closest one as I was out of town and was pulling a camper trailer. When the mechanic looked at it he said the brake fluid leaked from the reservoir into the brake booster. Result need to replace brake booster and master cylinder. Just like the recall from Ford # 16s24. Although my vin # is not on the recall this is the same issue.
Cam phasers and timing chain goes out way more then it should on these F150s
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon the cold start of the vehicle, an abnormal rattling sound would emit from the vehicle without warning. The contact called Lake Elsinore Ford (31500 Auto Center Dr, Lake Elsinore, CA 92530) and Hemborg Ford (1900 Hamner Ave, Norco, CA 92860) and was informed that there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
On 6/6/2021 I was slowing down to turn left into a strip mall and lost all power to my steering in my recently purchased 2013 F150 with 65,650 miles on it. This was only day 4 of me driving it as it was bought on 5/29/21. The battery warning appeared on my dash. I was able to maneuver my way into the parking lot safety, but this could have been a much worse situation if I was traveling faster, on a curvy road or needed to avoid something in the road (a child, tire, stalled vehicle). I was frightened for my life and fear this could happen again. Major safety issue not only for me, but other drivers on the road. The battery was not the issue and is currently at the repair shop being looked at.
Brake failure master cylinder leaked all fluid in brake booster. No injuries or accident. Lost brakes was able get off road safely.
The power steering assist fault warning engages and shuts down the power steering. Very dangerous while driving. Ford says this is not a known issue but according to the repair forums it is a problem. This has been an ongoing issue for my vehicle.
2013 Ford F-150 3.5 L Ecoboost , Exhaust manifold warped and now I hear exhaust leaking and it makes a high pitch sound when I excelerate.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift as needed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and regain functionality. The contact stated that the powertrain warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the lead frame replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and was awaiting a response. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while coming to a stop, the brake pedal would stiffen up when depressed and the E brake light would illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed as a brake booster and master cylinder failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with NHTSA. The failure mileage was 149,045.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V075000 (Power Train) and had the recall repaired at the dealer however, the failure occurred. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted to first gear. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer however, the contact was informed that there were fault codes on the code reader. The transmission fluid was flushed however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer. The contact was also referred to the NHTSA for assistance. The failure mileage was 66,920. Consumer stated vehicle is getting repaired.*JB
This truck was driven daily and has been owned since new. No aftermarket accessories, all stock. The truck was parked in my warehouse over the weekend. When I returned on Monday morning I found the dashboard burned and melted, airbag deployed, and headliner scorched. I believe the airbag extinguished the fire and kept it from spreading outside the truck and possibly destroying my business. The truck has not been inspected by anyone other than mechanics working on quotes to repair it. The truck is still at my business and available for your inspection. There were no warnings of any kind.
Loss of power while pulling onto highway. Code 2112 (Throttle Body Failure Code P2112 which cause the truck to loos all power. Unable to get out of the way when it shuts down. Has happened 3x in 2 days. Have spoken to dealership and they stated that code has nothing to do with losing power. The P2112 OBD-II trouble code is one of number of possible codes that indicates that the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has detected a malfunction with the operation of the Throttle Actuator Control System. ... Code P2112 is set by the PCM when the throttle body plate is stuck in the closed position. Which this is a major saftey issues while at high speed on the highways.
This complaint is about a known issue with certain Ford Vehicles related to the transmission molded leadframe. On May 26, 2021, I was accelerating onto a highway when my transmission downshifted from 4th gear to 1st gear and my speedometer and tachometer failed. Thankfully I was able to pull over safely and when re-started, the speedometer and tachometer came back up and the vehicle was driveable again. The next night, I experienced the same thing only I was in a parking lot and was again able to safely pull my vehicle over. I was not able to get an appointment at my local dealer until June 10th at which point they confirmed it was the leadframe and subject to the extended warranty. My complaint is that Ford was allowed to take the easy way out and wait for a failure of the faulty leadframe as opposed to this being a recall with proactive replacement. In my instance, I was not traveling at a high rate of speed. However, I was planning on taking the truck on a road trip on May 29th where if that had happened I would not have been so lucky. This issue is dangerous and needs to be under a full recall, not an extended warranty.
On 5/24/21 I started to pull out onto a two lane, 55mph road with a trailer behind me. The truck stalled and I was stuck across both lanes and could have been hit broadside from either direction. I was told by our local Ford dealer that there is a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB-15-0137) for the fuse holder for the fuel pump. I researched online and this is a very common problem. I had a similar issue occur in March of 2021 where my truck would not start in a driveway and the Ford dealer did not find the problem and it seemed to have fixed itself. The fuse holder is apparently not designed for the amount of current in the circuit. This is a very serious issue. I could have been seriously injured or killed that day. This problem does not lead to any warning lamps, messages, other symptoms or error codes.
Vehicle exhibited a (Crank but No Start condition.) Determined Fuel Pressure (ZERO) Fuel Pump Relay Power fuse #27 melted in power distribution box Ford p/n EL3Z-14293-A not available locally or from Ford Parts Obtained similar components in EL3Z-14293-A to effect fix This is a known issue No symptoms prior to (Crank but No Start) Owner very fortunate vehicle was in driveway when issue surfaced.
The 4x4 tried to turn on while the vehicle is running by it self.
WE WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH. SUDDENLY THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE DROPPED TO ZERO, THEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR, CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO LOCK UP AND START SKIDDING. WITHIN 2 SECONDS THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WENT BACK UP TO THE CORRECT SPEED, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED BACK UP, AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED ON WITH NO FURTHER ISSUES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS OR ERRORS DISPLAYED ON THE DASH AND THE OBDII SCANNER SHOWED NO ERROR CODES AT ALL. FORD HAS ALREADY ISSUED CSP 19N01 FOR THIS EXACT SITUATION, BUT TO QUALIFY THE VEHICLE HAS TO RECEIVE A SPECIFIC LIST OF DIAGNOSTIC CODES (WHICH OUR VEHICLE GOT NONE OF). I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS HASN'T BEEN DECLARED A RECALL. IF IT HAD BEEN RAINING, OR WE HAD BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, THE LOCKING UP OF THE REAR WHEELS WOULD HAVE LIKELY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT, AND AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT COULD HAVE EASILY RESULTED IN INJURIES OR A FATALITY.
VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY NOT SHIFT . I CAN BE DRIVING NORMALLY AND STOP A LIGHT. WHEN I ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WILL INTERMITTENTLY OT SHIFT GEARS. THIS CAN HAPPEN ON ON-RAMPS, OR ANYTIME VEHICLE SPEED IS REDUCED. THE RECALL FOR THIS DID NOT INCLUDE THE PLANT .Y VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED, SO I AM ON THE HOOK FOR REPAIRS SHOULD I DECIDE TO FIX IT.
lIGHT COMES ON, AND YOU LOSE POWER , WITHIN 10 MIN. YOU HAVE POWER BUT NO INTEROR LIGHT, DASH, SPEED ETC. I had the work done on the transmission , to take care of the problem..What I want to know if this pertains to any recalls. I found there were 2- recalls and I was never notifyed by Ford
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently downshifted to 3rd and then 1st gear, and the tires locked up. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the contact was informed that there were no fault codes retrieved. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the check engine warning light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to two dealers who both informed him that they could not service the vehicle unless the check engine warning light was illuminated while in their possession. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective output shaft speed sensor. The mechanic linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V433000 (Power Train) and referred him back to the dealer. The dealer acknowledged that the defect was covered under warranty not recall; but, the vehicle could not be serviced until the check engine warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard and the brake light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and saw that there was no brake fluid in the brake reservoir. The reservoir was topped off with brake fluid. After driving 2 miles, the failure recurred. While attempting to refill the reservoir bottle, the contact noticed brake fluid was not accumulating in the reservoir. There was no leak detected. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that there was no brake fluid found in the brake reservoir and informed the contact that there was a recall associated with the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V345000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The failure mileage was 55,000.
RECEIVED LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING AND THEN CATASTROPHIC SUDDEN BRAKE LOSS TO THE VEHICLE. I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW AND STOP THE VEHICLE . MASTER CYLINDER SEAL HAS FAILED AND FILLED BRAKE BOOSTER WITH BRAKE FLUID. VEHICLE WAS IN VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC WHEN FAILURE OCCURRED. I HAVE MADE REPAIRS WITH NEW OEM MOTORCRAFT PARTS TO RESTORE BRAKES. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS 72K MILES. 6.2 V8 2WD. I HAVE RECEIPTS OF MY REPAIRS.
WHILE DRIVING THE POWER TO MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD GO OUT. ALSO THE TRUCK WOULD INCREASE IN RPM'S. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED THE WHEELS LOCKED UP ON ME. IN MOST CASES THE PROBLEM WOULD BE FIXED ONCE I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RE STARTED IT.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2013 FORD F150 TRUCK AT 9:10PM ON 4-25-21 AND IT SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED WHICH CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD.HE SAID THE RPM'S WENT VERY HIGH AND THE SPEED DROPPED INSTANTLY LIKE AN ENGINE BRAKE- THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS CLOSELY FOLLOWING HIM. HE WAS GOING AT A SLOWER CITY STREET SPEED ON GRANDE. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND HAD AN APPOINTMENT FOR 3 DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THEIR SHOP ALL DAY AND THEN THE SERVICE GUY CALLED MY SON AND SAID HE NEEDED TO ORDER A PART AND IT WOULD BE AN INDEFINITE AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE THE PART ARRIVED. MY SON SPECIFICALLY ASKED HIM IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE? HE SAID YES BUT STAY OFF THE HIGHWAY. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DOCUMENTED IN THE SERVICE NOTES THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND IT COULD BE 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE PART ARRIVED. THIS IS A 2013 FORD F150 AND THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD- MY SONS TRUCK HAS DEMONSTRATED THE EXACT ISSUE IN THE RECALL. THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS DOCUMENTED IN S NOTES - MY SON NEEDS A CAR TO DRIVE TO SCHOOL AND WORK. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS PEOPLE ARE DRIVING THEM JUST BE CAREFUL- SAFETY RECALL IS FOR A REASON. I HAVE CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE 3 TIMES AND THEY REFER TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PROVIDED A LOANER- THEY SAY THEY HAVE NONE BUT ON ONE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES DESK THERE WAS NOTE TO "GET A LOANER FOR MS. S". WE PARKED THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE THE KEY SINCE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE- THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE US IN WRITING A STATEMENT IT WAS SAFE OR UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO AND THE VEHICLE STARTS TO JERK AND WILL NOT SHIFT.
THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAYS INCORRECTLY FOR EXAMPLE, IF A WALL OR A OBJECT IS ON MY LEFT SIDE WHEN I LOOK AT CAMERA DISPLAY ON THE MONITOR THE WALL OR OBJECT APPEARS IN THE MONITOR ON THE RIGHT SIDE. IT'S LIKE THE CAMERA IS IN REVERSE
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AT 60MPG THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED I TO 1ST GEAR FROM 6TH. THEN THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED ZERO. AND WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK TO DEALER THEY PERFORMED FORDS UPDATE AND I DROVE NO MORE THAN 20 MILES AND IT DID THE SAME JUST WENT TO FIRST FROM 6TH. BOTH TIMES I WAS LUCKY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME AND ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY OTHERWISE IT COULD OF BEEN A VERY BAD ACCIDENT.
TRUCK IS HESITANT TO PULL OFF AS IF BRAKES ARE STUCK, IDLES HIGH, JERKS VIOLENTLY AND SEEMS AS IF IT'S LOSING POWER. I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR SOME TIME NOW AND LIBERTY FORD MAPLE HAS BEEN 0 HELP RESOLVING THIS ISSUE. I'VE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND 2 TIMES AS WELL AS MULTIPLE OTHER CLOSE ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I REFUSE TO DRIVE THE FREEWAY OUT OF FEAR OF A ACCIDENT , WHICH REALLY AFFECTS MY WORK. IT'S ALMOST LIKE I DON'T HAVE A VEHICLE AS I'VE BEEN USING FAMILY VEHICLES OR RENTING.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK 04/16/2021 THAT HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH ALL OF FORD'S RECALLS. I FELT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS PURCHASE UNTIL I STARTED EXPERIENCING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION ON 04/17/2021. WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK THERE WAS NO CHECK LIGHTS TURNED ON SO I PUT THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE. AS I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED THE TRUCKS TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING OUT OF 1ST GEAR ON CITY STREETS. I PULLED OVER RESTARTED IT AND THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I LOST MY ODOMETER TWICE WHICH MADE ME HAVE TO PULL OVER TO RESTART THE TRUCK. AS I WAS PUTTING THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE THE TRUCKS TRANSMISSION JUMPED INTO 5TH GEAR WHILE I STILL HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I TURNED AROUND AND AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT FROM 5TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR. WHATEVER FORD DID FOR THESE RECALLS ISN'T ENOUGH, AND THE PROBLEMS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED MORE PROPERLY BECAUSE IT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS THE RECALLS WERE SUPPOSE TO FIX. I AM SCARED TO EVEN MOVE THAT TRUCK ANYMORE BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT OR HURT SOMEONE BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM WASN'T FIXED PROPERLY.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact received Customer Satisfaction Program: 19N01 (Power Train) notification for lead frame failure from the manufacturer. The contact stated that the low speedometer, air bag, and assistance air bag warning light illuminated while driving approximately 65 MPH. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer who diagnosed a failure with the lead frame. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer agreed to repair the lead frame failure; however, the parts were not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 104,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH and above, the RPM’s fell to zero while accelerating. The contact stated that the transmission then failed to shift as needed. The contact had to coast to the side of the roadway. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact stated that after several attempts the transmission shifted into first gear. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the leadframe needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the repair was no longer covered under warranty due to the mileage on the vehicle and that the part was on back order. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000.
I WAS ON CARSWELL TURNING RIGHT TO FORRESTAL TOWARDS WYNN WHEN MY TRUCK ACTED WIRED MY SPEED WASNT READING NO MILEAGE AND MY TRUCK WASNT ACCELERATE RIGHT IT WAS GOING UP TOO MUCH ON RPMS SO I DECIDED TO PARK AND TURN IT OFF AND THEN TURN IT ON AGAIN SO I DID SO THEN IT WENT AWAY SO I TURNED LEFT ON WYNN TOWARDS DANIEL DRIVE AND TURNED RIGHT BECAUSE I WAS GOING TO LISAS CHICKEN WHEN I WAS COMING BACK TO CARSWELL THE SAME WAY I WENT IT DID IT AGAIN SO I GOT IT HOMW AND HAVENT MOVED IT SINCE AND ALSO A WHILE BACK MY TRUCK LOCKED MY FRONT RIGHT BRAKE WHEN I WAS COMING FROM OKLAHOMA CASINO GOING TOWARDS ARLINGTON ON HWY 114 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT DIDNT LET ME DRIVE AND I BARELY MADE IT TO A GAS STAION RIGHT NEXT TO THAT HWY WHERE 114 AND 377 MEET
THE VEHICLE HAS TWO "TYPES" OF PROBLEM THAT MAY BE RELATED. IN SOME CASES, THE TRUCK DROPS DOWN INTO 1ST GEAR REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE I PICKED UP THE TRUCK FOLLOWING THE ATTEMPTED RECALL REPAIR, BUT NONE OF THESE INCIDENCES OF DROPPING INTO 1ST GEAR CAUSED ERROR CODES TO POP UP. IN ANOTHER "TYPE" OF INCIDENT, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO ZERO EVEN WHILE IN MOTION, AND THE VEHICLE STAYS IN 3RD GEAR NO MATTER THE SPEED (INCLUDING WHEN NOT IN MOTION, EVEN AFTER SHIFTING INTO PARK AND BACK TO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY JUMPS TO 3RD GEAR BEFORE I EVEN START TO MOVE). DURING THIS SECOND TYPE OF INCIDENT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON, AS DID THE WRENCH/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THIS SECOND TYPE OF INCIDENT TRIGGERED MANY ERROR CODES: U0401:68-48 B00A0:68-08 U0401:00-08 P0722:00-68 U0401:86-08 U0401:00-08 U0401:68-08 B1083:07-08 U0423:00-28
THROTTLE STUCK AT WIDE OPEN THROTTLE AND WOULD NOT UNSTICK DESPITE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. FOOT BRAKED VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN, SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, KEYED OFF, COASTED TO REST. UPON RESTART TRUCK GOES STRAIGHT TO WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. NO ISSUES OR ACCIDENTS. TRUCK HAS EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE THROTTLE SENSING/THROTTLE POSITION, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
HAD SAFETY RECALL 19S07 DONE ON 4/6/2021 DUE TO TRUCK DOWNSHIFTING TO 1ST GEAR RANDOMLY. REPROGRAMMING PER THE RECALL DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE, BUT TRUCK IS NOT DISPLAYING ANY OF THE REQUIRED DTC'S TO BE ABLE TO DO THE SAFETY RECALL 19N01 EVEN THOUGH TRUCK IS STILL DOWNSHIFTING TO FIRST GEAR RANDOMLY AS WELL AS LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING. TRUCK ALSO SEEMS TO SIT IN 3RD GEAR FOR A FEW SECONDS WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP. DEALERSHIP WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD ON RECALL OF LEAD FRAME UNTIL CODES ARE DISPLAYED, EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK IS SHOWING ALL OTHER SYMPTOMS AS STATED IN 19N01
THIS 2013 F150 FORD TRUCK WILL DOWNSHIFT AT 50 MPH FROM 6TH GEAR TO FIRST GERA AND THE TRUCH REAR WHEELS LOCK UP CAUSING THE TRUCK TO GO FROM 50MPH TO 20MPH AND I FELT A VIOLENT SHAKE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO OCALA FORD AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT HELP. I SHUT KEY OFF RESTART AND PROBLEM TEMPORARALY GOES AWAY. THIS WILL CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ACCEDENT. THIS HAS OCCURED SEVERAL TIMES. PLEASE ADVISE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO RECALL AND REPAIR. THIS OCCURED ON HIGHWAY 41 IN DUNNELLON FLORIDA. IF THIS IS NOT CORRECTED, THIS WILL CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. THANKS. THE VEHICLE DROPS INTO 1ST GEAR FOR NO REASON, INCLUDING WHEN AT HIGH SPEED. THIS CAUSES THE REAR WHEELS TO SKID AND THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO TWO FORD DEALERSHIPS, AND THEY HAVE DONE THE SOFTWARE UPDATE UNDER RECALL 19S07, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM. BOTH DEALERSHIPS TELL ME THEY BELIEVE THE LEAD FRAME NEEDS TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE SUDDEN DOWNSHIFTING, BUT FORD CORPORATION REFUSED TO PAY THE COST OF THIS REPAIR BECAUSE FORD CORPORATION SAY THE LEAD FRAME IS NOT COVERED BY THE 19S07 RECALL UNLESS THERE ARE "ERROR CODES" (WHICH THERE ARE NOT, EVEN THOUGH THE TRUCK HAS DOWNSHIFTED THREE TIMES AT SPEEDS OF ABOUT 35 MPH SINCE THEY "FIXED" THE SOFTWARE).
The contact owns a 2013 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering would lock up without warning. The contact stated that excessive force would be needed to steer the vehicle due to the failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a defective steering linkage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer then referred him to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000
POWER STEERING FAILED AT HIGHWAY SPEED WHILE BEING DRIVEN BY MY WIFE, ALMOST CAUSING A SERIOUS CRASH. FORD HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND PERHAPS SOMEONE WILL BE KILLED BEFORE A RECALL IS INITIATED. AN ISSUE AS DANGEROUS AS THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY, WHETHER IT IS BY FORD, VOLUNTARILY OR MANDATED BY THE PROPER GOVERNING AUTHORITY.
