REAR DRIVERS SIDE GLASS SHATTERED (BUT REMAINED IN PLACE) ONE COLD MORNING SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY WARMING UP WHEN THE REAR ELECTRIC DEFROST WAS TURNED ON. TURNED INTO INSURANCE COMPANY FOR CLAIM. WHEN I TOOK IT TO AUTO GLASS REPLACEMENT SHOP THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD ONE THIS WEEK THEY REPLACED.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE REAR AXEL BROKE AT THE WELD. WE WERE ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY SAFELY AND TO A BRAKE MATERS. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND THAT IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE WELDING. WE HAD FORD TOW IT TO BELL FORD IN PHOENIX AND CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE TO REQUEST AN INVESTIGATION. FORD IGNORED OUR CLAIM AND CLOSED IT OUT, WITHOUT EVEN DOING AN INVESTIGATION. THE SERVICE DEPT AT BELL FORD PROVIDED HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND DID NOTHING TO ASSIST US WITH OUR CLAIM EITHER. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED ELSEWHERE TO BE FIXED, AS WE COULD NOT AFFORD THE $2,700.00 BELL FORD WANTED TO CHARGE US.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. APPROXIMATELY THIRTY SECONDS AFTER THE CONTACT ENTERED THE VEHICLE, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE OR AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
AT FREEWAY SPEED ENGINE BEGAN TO SHUDDER SEVERELY WHEN PASSING ON UPHILL GRADE. ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. NARROWLY MISSED BEING INVOLVED IN COLLISION WITH SEVERAL VEHICLES WHILE ATTEMPTING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. LIGHT MISTY RAIN AT THE TIME. ENGINE WOULD NOT START AFTERWARDS UNTIL BATTERY DISCONNECTED TO "RESET" VEHICLE. DATE APPROXIMATE.
REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM EITHER THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
ONE OF THE 3 REAR WINDOWS SIMPLY SHATTERED FOR NO REASON. FORD WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THIS ISSUE THAT IM FINDING IS MUCH TOO COMMON. TH VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS NOTICED THE MORNING BEFORE HEADING TO WORK.
ON DECEMBER 7TH 2017, MY 2013 MY 2013 F-150 STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES RESULTING IN A DEAD BATTERY THAT HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. ERROR MESSAGES THAT ARISE INCLUDE " BATTERY SAVER ON' AND "AUDIO OFF" INDICATORS AND AFTER JUMPSTARTING THE VEHICLE WILL START WITH THE KEY IN THE "ON" POSITION AND IN SOME CASES SUCH AS MINE, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF 5TH GEAR UNTIL THE IGNITION IS CYCLED OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN. THIS VEHICLE HAS LEFT ME STRANDED REQUIRING ME TO FIND SOMEONE TO JUMPSTART IT. THERE ARE AN INCREASING NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS YEAR MODEL FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF. THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO THE DEALER (JOE COOPER FORD, TULSA, OK, 918-346-6500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE THAT CONTROLLED THE FUEL PUMP BURNED UP. A MANUFACTURER-ISSUED FUSE RELOCATION KIT WAS INSTALLED TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
REAR WINDSHIELD EXPLODED WHEN DEFROSTER WAS ON (DRIVERS-SIDE ONLY). TEMPRATURE WAS AROUND 30-35 DEGREE'S OUTSIDE. TRUCK HAD BEEN REMOTELY START AND RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES BEFORE SHATTERING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS UNDER 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY DOWNSHIFTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, AND UPON RESTARTING IT SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, THE VEHICLE OPERATED CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (WALKER FORD 102 ORCHARD PARK RD, HURRICANE, WV 25526, (304) 397-5101) WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PERFORMED, BUT NO FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: RQ17010 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH AND MY RED BREAK LIGHT CAME ON. I THEN TAPPED MY BREAKS AND REALIZED MY PEDAL WAS NEARLY FULLY COMPRESSED AND EXTREMELY FIRM TO PRESS. I WAS FORCED TO MASH THE BREAKS TO GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN AT ALL. I PULLED OVER AND SAT FOR A WHILE, OFF AND ON PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. ABOUT 15 MINUTES LATER I STARTED MY TRUCK AND THE ISSUE WENT AWAY. I DROVE ANOTHER 15 MINUTES HOME WITH NO ISSUE. THE VERY NEXT DAY I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BRIDGE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE OCCURRED, ONCE AGAIN BEING FORCED TO SMASH THE BREAK AND NEARLY CAUSING A WRECK. I REPEATED THE SAME STEPS AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER A FEW MINUTES.

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE CONTACT HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC, POWER STEERING, AND SERVICE IMMEDIATELY WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER (RANDALL REED PLANET FORD IN PARK CITIES, TEXAS) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SENSOR IN THE RACK SYSTEM WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE RUBBER CAR MAT SLID UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WAS OVER THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A WALL BARRIER DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL PROPERLY. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE BUT NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,985.
ERRATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTING 5TH GEAR TO 1ST GEAR WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS! SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL TO GET TO EMERGENCY SHOULDER. PLACED TRUCK IN PARK, CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID, NO ISSUES. RESTARTED TRUCK WENT TO PULL FORWARD TRUCK WENT 1ST TO 5TH GEAR NO POWER TO WHEELS RPM ELEVATED TO 3500-4000, PUT TRUCK IN PARK TURNED OFF, LEFT OFF FOR PERIOD OF TIME 5-10 MINUTES RESTARTED ISSUE DIDN'T PRESENT! 5-6 MILES TRAVEL AND HAPPENED AGAIN.
REAR WINDOW SHATTERED AFTER USING REMOTE START WITH THE REAR DEFROSTER ENABLED WHILE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN 30 DEGREE F AMBIENT. MUCH OF THE BROKEN GLASS REMAINED IN WINDOW OPENING, HOWEVER SMALL FRAGMENTS WERE FOUND ON REAR SEATS AND FLOOR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JONES FORD (510 FLORENCE RD, SAVANNAH, TN), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CALL NHTSA TO HAVE THE VIN ADDED TO A RECALL. T-CONNECTOR FROM RADIATOR COOLANT RESERVOIR TO ENGINE BLOCK CRACKS IN COLD TEMPERATURES DRAINING COOLANT DISABLING THE VEHICLE. FORD SAID ITS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER WITH NO ESTIMATION ON WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. MECHANIC VERIFIED CRACKED T- CONNECTOR. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF CRACKED T-CONNECTORS AND A NATIONAL BACKORDER, I FEEL THERE IS A MATERIAL DEFICIENCY IN THE T-CONNECTOR AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I NOTICED A LARGE PUDDLE UNDER THE VEHICLE. SO FAR ITS COST ME 219.99 AND 507.32 TO TRY AND FIX THIS. AND IT STILL LEAKS.
TIMING BELT FAILURE ON FORD ECOBOOST V6 ENGINE WITH ONLY 65000 MILES
FORD'S ECOBOOST TURBO HAS LEAK AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ACCELERATION HAS DECREASE POWER AND CAUSES DELAY BEFORE ACCELERATION FINALLY KICKS IN.
WHILE TRAVELING IN OUR 2013 F150 WITH 37,000 MILES FROM WISCONSIN TO TEXAS ON INTERSTATE 35 AT 70 MPH TOWING A 4000 LB TRAILER THE ENGINE SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN AND THE GOLD WRENCH ILLUMINATED. HAD TO QUICKLY PULL TO THE SHOULDER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC TO AVOID GETTING REAR ENDED. THE ECOBOOST ENGINE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHEN THE GOLD WRENCH APPEARED AND MAX SPEED WAS ABOUT 2 MPH WITH THE TRAILER ATTACHED. TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND WHEN RESTARTED AFTER 10 MINUTES IT SEEMED TO BE BACK TO NORMAL. WENT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER, RUSTY ECK FORD, WICHITA, KANSAS WHERE A SELFTEST WAS PERFORMED. NO CODES WERE FOUND, NO TSB OR SSM FOUND, BUT SAID THEY SUSPECT THE THROTTLE BODY IS GOING OUT (INVOICE NO FOCS664277). CONTINUED ON OUR TRIP AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED FOUR MORE TIMES THAT SAME DAY. THE NEXT DAY OF OUR TRIP SOUTH THE TRUCK RAN FLAWLESS DURING THE REMAINING 500 MILES OF OUR TRIP. SINCE WE HAVE REACHED OUR DESTINATION THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ONCE DURING LOCAL DRIVING. I AM PLANNING ON REPLACING THE THROTTLE BODY BUT NO ONE CAN ASSURE ME THE THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND DEPENDING ON THE SPECIFIC ROAD AND TRAFFIC CONDITIONS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES AND/OR FATALITIES. WE WERE TERRIFIED DRIVING THROUGH FORT WORTH CONSTRUCTION AT NIGHT WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ABSOLUTELY NO SHOULDERS FOR MANY MILES FEARING THE GOLD WRENCH WOULD APPEAR.
TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS ON HIGHWAY. THE ORANGE WRENCH WARING LIGHTS CAME ON, SPEEDOMETER WENT TO ZERO, MILEAGE INDICATOR WENT OUT , GAS DTE INDICATOR QUIT WORKING, SPEED REDUCED. SWITCHED VEHICLE OFF AFTER STOPPING, SWITCHED BACK ON EVERYTHING RESET - VEHICLE RAN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME, SAME THING REOCCURRED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. TOOK IT TO DEWITTS AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR, WINDSOR, VA. DIANOSTIC REPORT INDICATES WIRING HARNESS AND MODULE SENSOR FOR POWERTRAIN NEEDS REPLACING. MUST BE REPLACED BY FORD REPAIR SHOP.
ENGINE FIRE. A STRONG SMELL OF BURNING, ELECTRICAL WIRING ORDER STARTED COMING FROM THE A/C VENTS, I SOON NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AS THE TRUCK SLOWED TO A STOP AND I GUIDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, OPEN MY DOOR, I COULD SEE THE FLAMES RISING AND GROWING LARGER. BY THE TIME I GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH 911, I HEARD THE FIRST BLAST. IN LESS THAN 5 MINS. LATER A LARGER, LOUDER BLAST HAPPENED. NOT LONG AFTER THAT, THE WHOLE FRONT END WAS COMPLETELY MELTED.
I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM WHEN I WAS SLOWING TO A STOP ON A CITY STREET. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL APPLYING CONSTANT PRESSURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWING DOWN. THEN IT FELT AS IF THE BRAKES HAD LOOSENED AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER SLOWING DOWN. I "PUMPED" THE BRAKE PEDAL (LET UP ON THE PEDAL AND THEN RE-APPLIED PRESSURE) AND I HAD PEDAL PRESSURE AND WAS ABLE TO APPLY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. I TESTED THE BRAKES AGAIN AT THE NEXT INTERSECTION AND THEY FELT FINE SO I IGNORED IT THINKING I HAD PROBABLY LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. IT HAPPENED 1 OR 2 OTHER TIMES, AND I ALSO HAD MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO ENSURE IT WASN'T JUST ME. SHE ALSO NOTICED THE ODD FEEL AND BEHAVIOR OF THE BRAKE PEDAL. AT THIS TIME (MAYBE 1 WEEK AFTER FIRST NOTICING THE PROBLEM), I WAS TESTING THE BRAKES AND WAS ABLE TO PUSH THE PEDDLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. IT HAD BRAKE PEDAL, BUT IF I KEPT INCREASING THE PRESSURE, IT WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR, BUT WITH SOME RESISTANCE. THINK OF AN AIR MATTRESS AS YOU ARE PUSHING AIR OUT OF IT. THAT IS WHAT IT FELT LIKE. IT WAS AT THIS POINT I TOOK IT INTO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE (INVESTIGATION: PE 16-003, RECALL: 16V-345), BUT ONLY FOR VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AUGUST 1, 2013, TO AUGUST 31, 2014. MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JUNE 2013 AT THE KANSAS, MISSOURI PLANT.
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME ON, GOT OFF AT CLOSEST EXIT, BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. NO FLUID IN MASTER CYLINDER, NO SIGN OF LEAKS,WALKED TO WALMART BOUGHT FLUID, FILLED WITH FLUID, DROVE HOME, LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, PULLED INTO GARAGE HIT WALL WHEN BRAKES WENT TO FLOOR,. CONTACTED LOCAL FORD DEALER AND FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND WAS TOLD MY TRUCK WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL, 16V345000. MY TRUCK BUILD DATE IS 7/2013, ACTION COVERS BUILD DATE STARTING 8/ 2013. EVERYTHING ELSE IS SAME, 3.5 ECOBOOST, BUILT IN DEARBORN. 42,384 MILES JUST OUT OF 3/36 BOMBER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. 5/50 IS IN EFFECT BUT DOES NOT COVER BRAKES.
ENGINE RATTLES UPON COLD STARTUP AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES FROM P0016 ERROR CODE RELATING TO THE TIMING CHAIN BEING STRETCHED. FORD HAS ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS ISSUE MEANING IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE, YET THEY REFUSE TO HELP WITH THE REPAIR YET I HAVE PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND JUST SO HAPPEN TO BE 3000 MILES OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT.
MY 2013 F150 ECOBOOST WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY HAS DOWNSHIFTED FROM 4TH INTO 1ST GEAR ON ONE OCCASION. AND ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY BETWEEN 60-75 MPH AND TRUCK WOULD DOWNSHIFT ON IT'S OWN FROM 6TH GEAR TO 3RD GEAR. AFTER THIS WOULD HAPPEN IT WOULD NOT SHIFT LOWER THAN THIRD GEAR UNLESS PULLED OFF SIDE OF ROAD AND SHUT TRUCK OFF FOR FEW MINUTES AND ALSO WOULD NOT GO ABOVE FIFTH GEAR. FORD DEALER SAYS WAS COMMON PROBLEM ON 2011 AND 2012 MODELS BUT SEEMS TO CARRY INTO 2013-2014 MODELS FROM WHAT THEY BEEN SEEING. NO RECALL ON 2013-2014 MODELS THOUGH SO I HAD TO PAY BIG MONEY TO FIX PROBLEM THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT AND WOULD LIKE REIMBURSED IF THIS BECOMES A RECALL.

THE FAILURES CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO VEER INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE IT WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE SINCE THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (LANCE CUNNINGHAM FORD, 4101 CLINTON HWY, KNOXVILLE, TN 37912, (866) 591-3943) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE 2010-2012 MODELS, BUT NOT FOR THE 2013. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT AS I WAS DRIVING
TRUCK WOULD TURN OVER BUT NOT START , NO FUEL WAS MAKING IT TO SPARK AS FUSE FOR FUEL PUMP HAD MELTED INTO FUEL BOX AND DAMAGED IT. THIS IS A FAULTY SETUP AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS BEFORE SOMEONES LIFE IS TAKEN OR INJURED BADLY.
I HAVE HAD THE FORD TRUCK DEATH WOBBLE, I BARELY MISSED A HEAD ON COLLISION BECAUSE OF IT. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, IT STARTS UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN GOING 55 TO 60 MPH AND HIT A SLIGHT PUMP OR UNEVENNESS ON THE ROAD THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK GOES INTO TO A SEVERE VIBRATION AND WOBBLE THAT RAPIDLY GETS WORSE AND MAKE THE TRUCK UNCONTROLLABLE AND VARY DANGEROUS. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE DEATH WOBBLE IS TO IMMEDIATELY SLAM ON THE BREAKS AND COME TO A COMPLETE RAPID STOP. I CANT BELIEVE THIS HASN'T ALREADY BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD GIVING HOW MANY OF US OUT HERE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE. I REMOTE STARTED MY TRUCK WITH THE FACTORY REMOTE TO WARM UP THE VEHICLE IN MY DRIVE WAY. I START TO PUT MY CHILD IN HIS CAR SEAT IN THE LEFT REAR SIDE. AS SOON AS IT TURNS OFF I HEAR A LOUD POP NOISE ALMOST LIKE A FIREWORK GOING OFF. I SEE THE REAR WINDOW IS NOW SHATTERED WITH PIECES OF GLASS FALLING ON MY CHILD'S CAR SEAT. DEFROSTER SEEMED TO BURN THE TRUCKS REAR SEAT AND CAUSED THE WINDOW TO SHATTER. I DID A INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE WINDOW DEFROSTER OVER-HEATING AND CAUSING THE LEFT REAR WINDOW TO SHATTER. I'VE REPORTED THIS ISSUE TO FORD WITHIN DAYS OF THIS HAPPENING AND HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM.

INITIAL START OFF STARTS IN 5TH GEAR 50% OF THE TIME. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT BACK TO 1ST IS TO SHUT THE TRUCK OFF, THIS USUALLY TAKES SEVERAL IGNITION CYCLES TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. ERRATIC SHIFTING THROUGHOUT DRIVING THE VEHICLE 100% OF THE TIME. THE VEHICLE SHIFTS BETWEEN 6TH AND 4TH FOR NO REASON DURING A NORMAL DRIVE ON THE INTERSTATE 75% OF OPERATION. HARD DOWN SHIFTING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH. OFTEN WHILE GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT OVER 50MPH THE TRUCK WILL SHIFT INTO 1ST OR 2ND LOCKING UP THE TIRES. THE ONLY WAY TO GET IT OUT OF THE LOWER GEAR IS TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT ON. I HAVE SLID SIDEWAYS ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST BEEN HIT IN THE BACK SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM WILL NOT EVEN TOUCH THE VEHICLE FOR LESS THAN $115 FOR A DIAGNOSTICS FEE. THEY SAID IF IT IS THE TSB13-04-09 AS THEY SUSPECT IT WILL BE $1,029.00 TO REPAIR IN ADDITION TO THE DIAGNOSTICS FEE. A LOCAL TRANSMISSION FACILITY HAS QUOTED $615.00 TO REPAIR. I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE HAD TO STOP THE TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, MOST OF THE TIME TWICE A WEEK. THIS TOO IS DANGEROUS FOR NOT ONLY ME BUT THE ENTIRE INTERSTATE AS THE TRAFFIC HALTS DUE TO THE FORD TRANSMISSION. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING DOWN AND UP SHIFTING.
THE APIM OR ADVANCED PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE WENT BAD THIS IS THE COMPUTER SCREEN. THE HEAT WOULD KICK ON HIGH AND BLOW ON HIGH SPEED AND IT WOULD GET SO HOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE ON A HOT DAY THAT WE LITERALLY FELT LIKE PASSING OUT. THERE WAS NO WAY TO CONTROL THE HEAT OR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AND WE HAD TO OPEN ALL THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF JUST TO COOL DOWN AND IT WAS STILL SO HOT. WE HAD TO KEEP OPENING THE SUNROOF SO MANY TIMES IT BROKE AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 99,000 MILES ON IT. BUYER BEWARE THE APIM UNIT IS ONLY COVERED FOR 5 YEARS FROM WARRANTY START DATE AND I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED BY FORD THAT THIS WAS A RECALL SERVICE BULLETIN M202. THE SUNROOF WOULD HAVE NEVER WENT BAD HAD THE APIM UNIT NOT MALFUNCTIONED BECAUSE WE NEVER OPENED IT BEFORE THE UNIT WENT BAD. TOTAL COST OF MY REPAIR 2400 FOR SUNROOF AND 1000 FOR APIM UNIT REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO DRIVE WITH ALL WINDOWS DOWN AND IT GETS SO HOT YOU WILL FEEL SICK.
