THE FIRST TIME THE INCIDENT HAPPEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH ON A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY ABOUT 70 DEGREES OUT. I TRIED TO GO AROUND A CAR AND WHEN PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE KIND OF STALLED AND SHOOK, DID NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. I LET OFF THE PEDAL AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT ACCELERATED FINE. THERE WASN'T MUCH DANGER INVOLVED IN THIS MISHAP AS THE OTHER DRIVER AND I WERE THE ONLY 2 VEHICLES ON THE ROAD FOR A FARE AMOUNT OF DISTANCE. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED IS WHAT REALLY WORRIED ME. I WAS LEAVING A GAS STATION PREPARING TO CROSS A 4 LANE HIGHWAY WITH A SPEED LIMIT OF 55 MPH. THIS TIME IT WAS MORNING ABOUT 65 DEGREES AND SUNNY, I ROLLED UP TO THE INTERSECTION AND WHEN AN OPPORTUNITY TO CROSS WAS PRESENTED I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK PRETTY BAD AND THE ENGINE ABOUT DIED. I HIT THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE WORKED ITSELF OUT OF THE SHAKE. THAT'S WHEN I REALIZED THIS ISSUE IS LIFE THREATENING. IF I WOULD HAVE PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE BROUGHT ME TO THE CENTER OF THE HIGHWAY AND STALLED THERE IS A VERY GOOD CHANCE I COULD HAVE BEEN T-BONED! AND TO TOP IT OFF ANOTHER ISSUE I HAVE BEEN HAVING WITH MY 2013 FORD F-150 PLATINUM IS THE BLUETOOTH IS RARELY CAPABLE OF SYNCING TO MY IPHONE, SO I WERE TO BE T-BONED THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN INCAPABLE OF UTILIZING ITS 911 ASSIST FEATURE AND THE INJURED INVOLVED IN THE ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE TO RELY ON A WITNESS DIALING 911. *TR
I GET NOWHERE NEAR THE MILEAGE THE STICKER HAS ON THE WINDOW.....STATES 21 MILES TO THE GAL HWY TRY 15-17. SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOME RESEARCH THIS AND STOP FALSELY ADVERTISING BECAUSE ONCE YOU SIGN YOUR NAME TO THAT CONTRACT FORD WILL NOT BUY IT BACK! *TR
WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS TRAFFIC I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL AND ALL POWER WAS LOST ALMOST RESULTING IN A CRASH. THE NEXT TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. UNABLE TO PASS ALMOST REAR ENDED, LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OFF THE ROAD. TODAY NOVEMBER 3RD 2013 9:00 AM TRAVELING 40 MPH ON FLAT GROUND CLEAR SKY ABOUT 45 DEGREES I FLOORED IT AND THE TRUCK DID NOTHING IT DID SHAKE ALITTLE AND I KEPT MY FOOT TO THE FLOOR FOR ABOUT 1/2 A MILE AND IT NEVER REGAINED ANY POWER. THEN I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS EVER CAME ON AND MY FUEL ECONOMY GET WORST EVERY DAY. THE TRUCK FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS DRAGGING IT DOWN ALL THE TIME. POOR FUEL ECONOMY MIXED WITH UNRELIABILITY IS GOING TO EQUAL DISASTER. FORD IS LUCKY NO ONE HAS BEEN HURT OR KILLED YET.THE TRUCK WILL BE TOWED TO THE DEALER IN THE MORNING I SIMPLY WILL NOT RISK MY LIFE WHILE FORD SITS ON THERE THUMBS. FIX THE PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 44 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR DEFLECTOR PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
ALL FOUR TIRES ARE WEARING OUT ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE.. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW AND THERE IS NO REASON THE TIRES SHOULD WEAR OUT LIKE THIS. THIS IS MY DAILY DRIVER AND I DON'T RUN OFF THE ROAD I DON'T DRIVE TERRIBLE THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH IN RAINY WEATHER, HE ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR. THE ENGINE RESUMED NORMALLY WITHIN TEN SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE ECO BOOST ENGINE, HOWEVER THERE WAS NOT A REMEDY AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,000.
INTERSTATE, NIGHT, RAINING WENT TO PASS VEHICLE AND ACCELERATED WHEN ENGINE STUMBLED, SHUTTERED VIOLENTLY, AND LOSS POWER. ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED HAD TO PULL OVER ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. *TR
AT OR AROUNG 500 MILES ON MY BRAND NEW 2013 FORD F150 SVT RAPTOR A MESSAGE COME UP ON THE 4.2 INCD LCD THAT READ "CHECK FUEL INLET". I WAS AT A GAS STATION PUTTING GAS IN MY TRUCK AND WHILE I WAS PUMPING GAS I CALLED HARBIN FORD AND SPOKE WITH A SERVICE REP. AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAD COME UP ON THE LCD. THE SERVICE REP. TOLD ME TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR AND LOOK UNDER THE BACK SEAT ON DRIVER SIDE AND THERE SHOULD BE A WHITE FUNNEL LOOKING OBJECT ABOUT 6 INCHES LONG. I PULLED UP AT MY HOME AND PARKED MY TRUCK UNDER OUR CARPORT WHICH HAS 2 OPEN WALLS AND ANOTHER TO ENTER THE CARPORT. ON THE NORTH END THE CARPORT IS SUPPORTED BY 3 STEEL POLES WHICH HOLDS THE CARPORT UP WHICH IS ATTACHED TO OUR HOUSE. I PLACED MY TRUCK IN (P) PARK AND LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING, MY MOTHER WAS OUTSIDE ABOUT 10 FEET FROM MY TRUCK. AND I THOUGHT BEFORE I GOT IN MY TRUCK THAT MAYBE I SHOULD TRY THE FUNNEL DEAL MENTIONED EARLIER IN THIS DESCRIPTION. SO I JUST OPENED THE BACK DOOR BECAUSE THE FRONT WAS ALREADY OPEN BECAUSE I LEFT MY TRUCK RUNNING AND IT WAS IN THE (P) POSITION BUT I GOT THE FUNNEL AND OPENED THE FUEL DOOR AND STARTED STICKING THE FUNNEL IN AND OUT REPEATING SEVERAL TIMES. AND ABOUT THE 2ND OR 3RD TIME STICKING THE FUNNEL IN AND OUT OF THE FUEL INLET MY TRUCK ACTED LIKE SOMEONE HAD PLACED MY TRUCK IN REVERSE AND IT STARTED COMING IN REVERSE. MY MOTHER SEEN THIS AND SHE SCREAMED AT ME TO GET OUT OF THE WAY AND I JUST SEEN A OPENING BETWEEN THE DOORS AND I SOMEHOW ENDED UP IN THE DRIVER SEAT AND I HIT THE BRAKE AND TO DISBELIEF I LOOKED AT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND IT WAS ALMOST RIPPED COMPLETELY OFF AND THE DRIVER SIDE FENDER WAS ALSO CRINKLED UP FROM THE DOOR CATCHING ON THE LAST POLE EXITING OUR CARPORT. I LOOKED OVER AT THE AUTO TRANSMISSION AND THE TRUCK WAS STILL IN PARK? *TR
This is in regard to the current investigation concerning the transmission downshifting unexpectedly. My 2013 F-150 has done the same thing several times since I bought it new. Fortunately I was not driving at a high speed but each time lower than around 35 MPH. It has a 6 speed auto transmission and would drop down into 1st or 2nd gear and show it's in tow/haul. Also sometimes when I first start to drive it, the transmission is in tow/haul when I never selected that. I notice when I hear the engine rpm high and notice I don't have good pickup speed. To remedy both issues I push the button in on the gearshift lever and it immediately starts to work properly. I have reported this to the Ford dealership maintenance representative a couple times but they said they never heard of any trucks doing this. Nothing was ever done about it. I continue to drive it and have 138,000 miles on it. I'm letting you know this because according to what I am reading, 2013 models are not included in the investigation.
I WAS TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR WHEN MY ENGINE STALLED. I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 TO 50 MPH WHEN I WENT TO ACCELERATE AROUND THE CAR AND MY ENGINE COMPLETELY STALLED AND LOST POWER. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT APPEARED. IT HAD BEEN RAINING ALOT AND WAS HUMID AND WET ALTHOUGH NOT ACTIVELY RAINING AT TIME OF MALFUNCTION. I DRIVE A NEW FORD F150 V6 WITH ECOBOOST TECHNOLOGY. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING, VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STARTED SHUDDERING WITH THE CHECK ENGINE FLASHING. COULD NOT ACCELERATE WHILE THE LIGHT WAS FLASHING FOR ABOUT 20-30 SECONDS. AFTER LIGHT WENT OUT TRUCK STARTED DRIVING NORMAL AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH I ACCELERATED TO PASS A CAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND THE TRUCK STARTED SHUDDERING AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, IT STARTED DECELERATING. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK. I REVVED THE ENGINE UNTIL THE TURBOS STARTED SPOOLING NORMALLY AGAIN. *TR
AS I WAS PASSING A SLOW MOVING TRACTOR TRAILER IN MY BRAND NEW 2013 FORD F-150 LIMITED V6 ECOBOOST WITH ONLY 345 MILES ON IT, ON A TWO LANE HWY IN LIGHT RAIN WELL INTO THE PASS THE VEHICLE JUST LOST POWER ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH AN ONCOMING VEHICLE. AFTER TALKING TO ONE OF MY FRIENDS WHO WORKS AT A FORD DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE FORD ECOBOOST ENGINE. I TOOK IT THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE AGENT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THE FORD ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON A FIX BUT HAVEN'T FOUND ONE AS OF YET. HOW CAN I TRUST THIS VEHICLE TO GET ME WERE I AM GOING SAFELY. *TR
JUST BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FOR A GREAT DEAL OF MONEY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, WITH BOTH MY WIFE AND I. DRIVING AT LOW AND HIGHER SPEEDS TRYING TO MERGE OR PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS WE APPLY THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS OR MERGE THERE IS A LOSE OF POWER AND THE TRUCK ALMOST STALLS. WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN 6 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO PHIL LONG OF COLORADO SPRINGS, CO. AND WAS TOLD I WAS LYING AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THEY COULD LOOK AT IT FOR $150.00 AS MY TRUCK IS BRAND NEW AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY, IM NOT HAPPY I CANT DRIVE MY TRUCK SAFELY AND FEEL LIKE FORD HAS LET ME DOWN. DON'T SEEM TO BE GETTING ANY POST SALE CUSTOMER SERVICE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
THE FRONT END SHAKES AND SHIMMIES @ LOWER SPEEDS,SAY LESS THAN 50MPH FROM THE TIME WE RECEIVED IT. I GAVE IT SOME TIME AND @ 543 MILES I TOOK IT IN . AFTER A PROLONGED PERIOD (8+ HOURS) OF DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN FREQUENT RAIN THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED AND STALLED (WITHOUT COMPLETELY DYING) WHILE IN A PASSING MANEUVER. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED MULTIPLE TIMES THEN WENT OUT. AS A CONSEQUENCE OF THE POWER LOSS MY VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO ACCELERATOR INPUT AND RESULTED IN COMPROMISED SAFETY BETWEEN TWO RAPIDLY CONVERGING VEHICLES. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 -15 SECONDS THE ENGINE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. *TR
WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY CONDITIONS AT 55 MPH, THE DRIVER ACCELERATED WHICH KICKED INTO PASSING GEAR. AT THIS TIME THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER (THOUGH REMAINED ON) AND DECELERATED TO ABOUT 45 MPH ON IT'S OWN. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING AND REMAINED LIT FOR APPX 1 MINUTE. ONCE IT WENT OFF THE VEHICLE REGAINED NORMAL OPERATIONS. HOWEVER, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED. THE NEXT DAY IN DRY CONDITIONS THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY TO PASS ONLY THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. THE SAME SITUATION HAS NOT OCCURRED AGAIN, THOUGH THE LIGHT REMAINS ON. IT IS SCHEDULED TO GO INTO THE DEALERSHIP TONIGHT. *TR
PULLING A TRAILER TO FIELD WHEN SMOKE APPEARED AND ENGINE AREA WAS ON FIRE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS AROUND 40 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL HAS A RATTLE FELT THROUGH IT. IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING IS GIVING FEEDBACK OR THE FRONT SHOCKS ARE LOOSE. AT SPEEDS AROUND 70 MPH, THIS CANNOT BE FELT. FORD TECHS ROTATED AND BALANCED TIRES, BUT THAT DID NOT FIX IT. THEY MENTIONED THAT THE NEW ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM WORKS BASED UPON SPEED. THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WORSE AT LOW SPEEDS AND OK AT HIGHER SPEEDS. THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM THAT FORD NEEDS TO FIX! *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2013 F150 XLT 4X4 V6 FLEX FUEL AT DENHAM FORD IN WETASKIWIN ALBERTA. WE TRAVELED ACROSS COUNTRY TO ONTARIO. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT. APPROXIMATELY 9000 KMS FOR MILEAGE OUR TRUCK HAS STEADILY LOST ACCELERATION POWER. GOING UP BURLINGTON SKYWAY AND GARDEN CITY SKYWAY (100 KM/H MAJOR HIGHWAY) TRUCK STRUGGLE TO MAINTAIN 60 KM/H UPHILL WITH PEDAL TO THE FLOOR! HAD INSTRUMENTAL PANEL PROBLEMS IMPROPER DISPLAY OF AMOUNT OF GAS OR DISTANCE TO E. DRIVESHAFT CONSTANTLY CLUNKING AND TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE. FORD REFUSED TO REPLACE AFTER TOWING OF PROBLEMS AND CONSTANT CALL INS TO CUSTOMER SERVICE. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALER AND 7-8 TECHNICIANS STOOD ROUND SCRATCHING HEAD REPLACED FUEL PUMP DID NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. FORD ASK FOR PAYMENT 558.08 WE NOT HAVE FUNDS AS ALL OF OUR MONEY GOING INTO GAS TO REPAIR TRUCK AND FALSE READING ON PANEL AND FORD REFUSED TO HELP US. WE FELT USED AND SCARED OF BEING REAR ENDED BY A SEMI WAS NOT SAFE. DID DIAGNOSTIC NO CODES. BEYOND CODE PROBLEM. FIRST KNOWN PROBLEM IN NORTH AMERICA...HUGE LEMON. *TR
WHILE DRIVING SOUTH ON HWY 87 SOUTH TOWARD SOUTHPORT, NC NEAR SANDYFIELD, CLOSE TO THE HYW 11 INTERSECTION, I PERFORMED A HARD ACCELERATION TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE WHEN I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY SHAKING. IF THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING WAS GOING FASTER THAN 50 MPH I WOULD NOT HAVE MADE IT AROUND HIM. WHILE I DID NOT STOP, I DID SLOW THE VEHICLE TO UNDER 50 MPH TO WHICH THE ENGINE LIGHT STOPPED FLASHING AS DID THE SHAKING. THE WEATHER WAS PARTLY SUNNY WITH HIGH HUMIDITY. ROAD CONDITIONS WERE DRY.
WHILE MERGING ONTO A HIGHWAY VIA AN ON RAMP IN RAINY CONDITIONS I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN MY 2013 FORD F150 ECOBOOST EQUIPPED TRUCK LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS FORCED TO THE SHOULDER AS THE APPROACHING TRACTOR TRAILER WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME AND THE IMPENDING COLLISION WOULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS HARM TO MY FAMILY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED FOR A FEW MOMENTS AS WE DROVE SLOWLY ON THE SHOULDER AND THEN IT WENT OFF. NO FURTHER HIGHWAY TRAVEL WAS USED FOLLOWING THIS POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT DUE TO THE RAINY CONDITIONS. ONE ADDITIONAL INCIDENT OCCURRED WITH THE TRUCK ONE MONTH PRIOR BUT DID NOT RESULT IN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT ONTO A BUSY STREET THE TRUCK HESITATED FOR A FEW MOMENTS BEFORE FINALLY ACCELERATING. WHEN THE TRUCK FINALLY RESPONDED A LARGE SMOKE CLOUD APPEARED BEHIND THE TRUCK AND THE ENGINE REVVED MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL. UNTIL THE RECENT EVENT WE THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO RAIN OR EXCESSIVE MOISTURE IN THE AIR ON THIS PARTICULAR DAY. *TR
I HAVE A WHITE PAINT JOB ON MY PICKUP, CAME THAT WAY FROM THE FACTORY.. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT IT SOME TINY ROUND RUST SPOTS APPEARED ON THE WHOLE TRUCK. FORDS "ACID WASHED IT" AND THE SPOTS CAME BACK. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER, THEY ACID WASHED IT TWICE BECAUSE I WAS SO MAD THEN THE SPOTS CAME BACK. THEY SAID IT WAS ENVIRONMENTAL. FORDS SAYS IT ONLY HAPPENS ON THE WHITE PAINT JOBS, MAYBE BECAUSE THE OTHER COLORS IT DOESN'T SHOW UP. I AM FURIOUS THAT FORDS LETS THIS GO AND DOESN'T CHANGE SOMETHING. IT HAPPENED ON MY 2011 EXPLORER AS I SAID AND NOW ITS THE 2013S. WEATHER: RAINING AND HUMID, TEMP: 73 DEGREES, SPEED: 65MPH. AFTER DRIVING FOR APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES ON THE HIGHWAY (USING CRUISE CONTROL), I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND PASS A CAR AFTER COMING OFF OF HIGHWAY ONTO A SECONDARY ROAD AND TRUCK BEGAN TO SURGE AS IF IT LOST TRACTION. TRUCK DECREASED POWER AND THREW CHECK ENGINE CODE P0300, LIGHT WENT OFF AND CLEARED THE CODE. OVER THE NEXT 10 MILES I ATTEMPTED TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE BUT WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. CODE HAS NOT RETURNED. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY NEW 2013 F150 ECOBOOST IN THE RAIN AND I TRIED TO PULL TO THE LEFT TO PASS A SLOWER CAR ON THE HIGHWAY. TOLD ME ALSO THAT NO CODE WAS REGISTERED ON THE COMPUTER EVEN THOUGH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON I-69 IN MICHIGAN BETWEEN LANSING AND FLINT, I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE INTO THE PASSING LANE TO ALLOW MERGING TRAFFIC FROM THE ON-RAMP ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY. IN ORDER TO CHANGE LANES, I USED FIRM ACCELERATION TO AVOID CONTACT WITH THE FASTER VEHICLES IN THE PASSING LANE. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED. ALL FORWARD ACCELERATION WAS IMPOSSIBLE THE ENGINE SPUTTERED FOR 45-60 SECONDS AFTER THE EVENT UNTIL POWER WAS RESTORED. ONE WEEK AFTER I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE TRUCK, THIS PROBLEM BEGAN ON A SIMILAR TRIP ON THE WAY TO TOLEDO AROUND THE DUNDEE EXIT ON I-23. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 400 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. THIS WAS IN EARLY MAY 2013. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED THE TSB REPLACING THE CHARGED AIR COOLER AND UPDATING THE SOFTWARE IN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. THIS CAN BE REPEATED ON ANY TRIP OF SIGNIFICANT DURATION ON A RAINY DAY. THE TSB DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM, AND I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AS WELL AS MY FAMILY'S SAFETY. I DO NOT LET ME WIFE DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE SHE WOULD NOT BE AS WELL EQUIPPED TO DEAL WITH AN EVENT LIKE THIS. I FEEL CHEATED BY FORD, AND I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THEIR ATTEMPTS OF FIXING THIS. FURTHERMORE, I KNOW EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE IS TAKING IN LARGE AMOUNTS OF WATER THROUGH THE INTAKE, AND THIS IS CATASTROPHIC FOR ENGINE LIFE AND LONGEVITY. TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE DURING HEAVY RAINS. TRAFFIC IN MY LANE STOPPED. I TRIED TO CHANGE LANES AND ACCELERATE BRISKLY. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUTTER AND THE ENGINE POWER DIED. IT SEEMED TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND LEFT ME HANGING IN THE TRAVEL LANE WITH FASTER TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. VEHICLE IS ONE WEEK OLD AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 600 MILES ON IT. THE ENGINE IS THE FORD ECOBOOST 3.5L V6. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO GET IT TO DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. *TR
PULLING OUT INTO THE HIGHWAY WITH TRAFFIC COMING, I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE LOST POWER. TO AVOID BEING STRUCK BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, I STEERED VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES OF WHERE I LOST POWER, THE ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND WHILE TRYING TO PASS OTHER VEHICLES. IT WAS NOT HUMID OR RAINING AT THE TIME THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, IT WAS THERE FOR TWO DAYS. THEY COULD NOT FIND OR RECREATED THE PROBLEM. *TR
