Left rear door will not lock--either electronically or manually. There is no warning or indication that it is not locked, except to observe the the lock indicator post does not drop when the locking the vehicle, (unlikely to be noticed). I recently discovered this only by pulling the outside door handle when the vehicle was locked, and it opened. I have not had this inspected, though it appears to be a failure of the lock actuator--unrelated to the water-related failures of previous complaints and recalls. This presents a safety risk for any passenger sitting next to that door--especially a child, since the child safety lock mechanism on this door will not function because the door will not lock.
My Ford dealer replaced the defective throttle body on my 2015 F150 Ford truck. I was charged for the repair and Ford advised me that the extended warranty on this component did not apply to my vehicle. My trucks engine completely shut down while I was driving. I was very luck I was on a back road and was able to coast until it was safe to pull off the road. After restarting my truck, in a few miles, it did the same thing. Again, I was very lucky to still be on a back road and able to coast to a safe spot to pull off the road. I restarted the truck and made it to my Ford dealer a few miles away without further incident. Both times my truck engine quit, there was a warning light on the dash board that lite during the event. I believe it said “maintenance required” but not sure. I was preoccupied looking for a safe place to pull off the road. No warning came before the event. This engine shutdown could have put myself and others in danger had it occurred on the freeway.
My vehicle has a factory feature called "Hill Decent Control". this past week I have been getting a Default Message "Hill Decent default" and the accelerator pedal stops working. This has happened in the middle of the road (in traffic) for no apparent reason, where I have to stop the vehicle, turn off the engine, then restart. I have read on line where other Ford F-150s have experienced this same issue. I contacted ford, and they said they have no Recalls or TSB's regarding this unsafe issue. I now need to find a reputable shop to diagnosis the exact cause and repair needed.
while riding along the highway, lights came on something about a hill startt I wasnt driving on a hill also check service manual, truck slowed with no ability to press gas for movement. I had to get to the shoulder, which was very unsafe since i could not move at speed limit. I got to the shoulder and put it in park and shut it off. I could immediately start it again. Check engine light appeared and disappeared randomly. This happened more than a dozen times though I avoided the highway again. I took it to Autozone which does a free diagnoses. Error P2112 which was throttle assembly. I have an extended warranty but it is not covered. My truck i now at the Ford dealership to be repaired. Since defect is not covered I must pay out of pocket, my rental is also not covered. Since repair shops are so busy, I have no idea when my vehicle will be returned to me.
I was driving down the road like I always do, the cruise control just shut off. I tried to re-engage it and it would not respond, about 15 minutes later I engaged the cruise control successfully. This has happened numerous times over the last three weeks and now in order to engage the cruise control, I lift with my fingertips, the top left and the bottom left of the button and then it will engage. One occasion, the dash lights in trip 1 mode flashed. Then the control began working again.
I was driving and the wrench appears on my dash and the gears such as park drive manual etc disappeared on my dash.. there was no way to know what gear gear I was changing into.
2015 Ford F150 - 85,000 miles. While driving at highway speeds vehicle suddenly locked the tires and began to slide out of control. PRNDL display went black and wrench warning light illuminated on dash. Car behind me nearly rear-ended due to rapid deceleration without brake lights. I was able to steer to the shoulder to avoid an accident. After shutting off vehicle and restarting, vehicle acted normally. Wrench indicator remained illuminated. Took vehicle to local ford dealership where multiple PCM codes were found: P06E9, P0707, P1702, P1921. Dealer Service was able to reproduce issue; slight movement/wiggle to shifter caused transmission range sensor to "go erratic". Technician recommended replacing transmission Molded Lead Frame. I was given a repair estimate of $1284 and told the part was on back order 6 weeks due to the high number of failures in this part. This part has been recalled on earlier year models of the F150, but the 2015 was not included. I was lucky this incident happened during warm, dry weather and traffic was light. Had the roads been wet or icy (or had the driver behind me not been paying attention) this would have resulted in a violent, high speed accident. I feel lucky to be alive and unhurt.
Moisture in a taillight housing of a 2015 Lariat F-150 caused the BLIS module and wiring harness to short out. The BLIS module is tied into multiple vehicle systems, and caused the following issues: Airbags turned off BLIS system turned off TPMS turned off Windows and door locks don't function Radio stuck in whatever setting it is in when faulted Air conditioning panel and all climate controls turn off During a road trip this happened. I was unable to egress the vehicle until I shut it off. It is summertime so the vehicle, without ac or the ability to control the windows, became very hot. I had kids in the car. Also, without airbags, window, and door control, if I were to crash the vehicle, I don't know if I could safely extract my family. The moisture in the taillight is a known issue, and is covered in GSB 22-7002, but I couldn't find a BLIS module GSB/TSB. However, the BLIS module failure is a known issue, and there are multiple diagnostic videos and write-ups describing this issue on YouTube and F-150 forums. This is a safety issue, and should promptly be addressed.
Two weeks ago my 2015 Ford F150 died in a parking lot. I drove it in fine, walked into the store, and when I left the store the truck was dead. Battery was good, alternator was good, but would not start. I had it towed to my local Ford dealer. Three days later they informed me that the starter was bad and it was replaced. Two days later I'm driving at highway speed (approx 70 mph) and the truck violently downshifts from sixth to third gear causing the tires to lock up and the vehicle to skid approx 20 ft in NYC traffic. Luckily there was no one close behind me although there were numerous car horns beeped and swerving traffic as I rapidly decelerated. The truck remained in third gear until I moved into the safety lane and the RPMs (due to slowing) returned to normal. The instrument panel only displayed a message "Contact Dealer". I shut the truck off and the turned it back on with no faults indicated and limped it home. Since then the truck has repeatedly failed to start. It will start fine for a day or two, and then nothing when the key is turned. I had it towed to my local service station where the mechanic informed me that the computer code errors indicated that there were multiple errors with the transmission. The soonest that the Ford dealer can inspect is 35 days from now. I see that earlier model Ford F150's had a factory recall for similar transmission problems. My concern is that due to electrical malfunctions within the transmission control module, Ford F150's may rapidly decelerate when the transmission inadvertently downshifts multiple gears causing accidents and possible loss of life.
I had recall work completed for master cylinder replacement at 57,242 miles (2-2-22) and at 57,671 miles (7-1-22) the front left break line blows out with no warning. Only 462 miles after break work by the Ford dealer at Rocky Top Ford 750 Dolly Parton Parkway Sevierville TN. 37862. 865-453-2833. In the photo the red tape is about the location of the hole where the brak line blow out.
2015 F150 4d 4x4 traveling approximately 60 mph impacted a 2017 Toyota Sienna van on the driver’s side after it had impacted the center Jersey wall. F150 then impacted center Jersey wall on drivers side. None of the F150 air bags deployed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the check engine warning light and service engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the "Uphill Assist Not Available" and "Advance Service Tract Not Available" messages were displayed. The contact stated that the vehicle idled and was running rough while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle continued to run rough for 5 minutes and the contact continued driving; however, the failure reoccurred twice within 15 minutes on that same day. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
See attached document for complaint.
Riding on expressway in high speed lane. Felt like I was hit in the rear, jerking my head and body pretty severely. Speed decreased to 30 miles an hour almost instantly. Eventually, regained power after 15-30 seconds. Wrench light came on and stayed on for about 2 minutes. It happened a second time in same day at a lower speed. Immediately took car to dealer so not sure how often it would reoccur. Have since come to learn that the cause is a bad molded leadframe connector in transmission. There have been alerts on older F150 models but not on my year. I know at least 2 other people with same issue on their 2015 models. Dealer said that it's impossible to get parts because so many people are having same issue. In my opinion, this is a major safety problem especially if it happens at high speeds with a semi behind you or in bad weather conditions.
Exhaust manifold bolts are failing, causing leaks that could cause potential fire. Also exhaust leaks before the catalytic converter, emission control.
The exhaust manifold rear stud broke causing leaking emissions to potentially be released into the cab of the vehicle putting the driver and any passengers at risk. This is a known problem with Ford's 3.5L twin turbo eco-boost engines and they are failing to recognize this problem. It has been confirmed that this is the issue and no other entity has been involved in this issue. There is no, nor has been any warning lamps or messages with this issue. It is available to be inspected if needed.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle decelerated and went into limp mode. The driver was able to get the vehicle off the highway. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no additional assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 79,000.
While driving the truck, the engine RPM increased suddenly, and the rear wheel locked while traveling at about 55 mph. The vehicle stopped quick enough that caused the seat belts to lock. Took the truck to the dealership and was informed that the leed frame for the transmission was not properly communicating with the truck computer. We were told that the vehicle was in risk of shifting into reverse at anytime and not to drive the truck until it is fixed. The are other F-Series trucks that have been recalled for this issue but my truck was not included in the recall.
Panoramic Sun Roof It has failed twice now. The Date below is the second failure. It happened the first time right after I bought the truck. I had the Ford Dealership fix it once and it has happened again. It costs a lot to get it fixed. Components break down inside sliding track causing sunroof to be lodged open. Once this happens, the Sunroof sticks and can not be controlled (opened or closed) This seems to be major problem with 2015 F150's . Tons of complaints online. Yes, this is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle abruptly downshifted with the transmission warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle shuddered and hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to a dealer on several occasions; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The dealer was finally able to diagnose the vehicle with a defective wheel speed sensor on the lead frame. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The rear sliding glass window frame has come loose on my 2015 F-150 (4Door), twice. It is a huge safety risk as the frame and middle glass window is left hanging causing potential danger for all passengers especially those seating in the rear of the cab. The issue has happened to several other F-150 owners. According to a window technician who fixed my window, he "see's this all the time," regarding 2015 and up F-150s. Also reference, my youtube channel, "Me And Car Keys," videos entitled: 2015-2020 F150 Rear Sliding Window Fix https://youtu.be/xH5K6mHMVJw Ford F-150 Rear Sliding Window Fix...AGAIN!!! https://youtu.be/W-VBZ6wOvsU Under these videos, there are hundreds of comments worth of owners who have dealt with the same issue.
When I come to a stop, either at a red light or stop sign, and I have my foot on the brake, and come to a complete stop. The engine would idle rough and then would either die on me, or if I have time, I would put the driver selector switch into neutral and give it some gas before the engine quits. I have a OBD2 reader for my IPad, and when this happens, usually the codes P0365, or P0369 occur. I have had my truck into the shop numerous times to get fixed, and they have replaced the Cam Sensor for those P0365, and P0369 codes, but the problem still exists.
Engine shutting off at stop this is not the auto shut off model, this has happened 3 times and many other owners have already contacted Ford about recall
Just replace electronic throttle body for SECOND time at 106,185 miles. First time was at 38,460 miles. Both times replaced by Ford dealer at my expense. Recently contacted Ford with no response yet. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. TRUCK STALLS WITHOUT ANY WARNING. VERY DANGEROUS. I have never replaced a throttle body on any other vehicle I have owned in 45 years of driving!!
The engine fails to start consistently using pushbutton and remote start on the ignition fob. It is not available as needed. As an elderly man and partally disabled wife, the inconsistant nature inhibits reliable usage of the vehicle if an emergency occurs. The problem has been reproduced by Kirk Brothers FORD in Vicksburg, Mississippi but at this time (vehicle dropped of on 6/21/22) no success has occurred to determine the cause! Only the local service department has worked on the vehicle and only one technician has been assigned for over 10 working days. Problem first appeared as intermittent in May 2022, and progressively got to the point vehicle would not start normally.
I was driving 60 mph and a car pulled out in front of me causing me to Tbone the vehicle. Drivers Seat belt and airbag did not deploy causing me to hit the steering wheel then cracking my head on the wind shield. I bent the steering wheel gettin the force of the impacted and smashed the wind shield with my head causing my neck to bend. The accident has caused pain in my head, neck, left (hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder) right (hand, wrist) and chest that happen on 5/4/2022, in result of the safety mechanisms failing to properly work.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the low oil level warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The warning light disappeared; however, an abnormal, rattling noise was coming from the vehicle at start-up. The contact believed that the failure was linked to a defective camshaft phaser. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The oil pan is leaking oil and this is a prevalent problem with 2015 through 2021 years of many Ford models. The leaked oil can and is running back onto the vehicle under carrage and is a fire potential when coating the exhaust system which has high heat during operation. The problem has been reproduced and is recognized by the manufacturer. The later model years have had a redesign to attempt to correct the issue however the earlier 2015 - 2017 nothing has been done No warnings or messages are given that this issue is present. Some vehicles have had this repaired at significant cost as many as 3 times only for the issue to reappear again.
I auto started the truck and about 10 minutes into warm up the rear window shattered as I was putting items in the bed of the truck. Glass preceded to fall off the window, and there is still a residual burn electrical smell. I believe this is a result of the rear defroster. I have filed an insurance claim to replace the rear window. There were zero warnings, lamps etc. It sounded like a gunshot.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, an abnormal banging and crackling sound was coming from the engine. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to an independent mechanic and upon inspection, the mechanic determined that the vehicle had experienced engine failure. The contact was then referred to the dealer for assistance by the independent mechanic. The contact initially called North Country Ford (10401 Woodcrest Dr NW, Coon Rapids, MN) and was given a six-week estimate for an appointment. The contact then called another dealer and was given a three-week estimate for an appointment. The vehicle was then towed to that dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed with engine failure. The contact was also informed that the main engine bearing along with both turbochargers needed to be replaced. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 79,689. The consumer stated the vehicle was traded in for a Dodge Ram.
Ford Dealership Service Representative advised me that when attempting to rotate my tires, they notice the lug nuts were swollen. They advised me that I would need to purchase new lug nuts if I would like to have the tires rotated. The cost would be over $100. I researched this online and many sites star that this is a common defect in Ford Lug nuts.
Our Ford Vehicle would suddenly lose power as we were driving it and our wrench light came on. I had to pull over as best I could as everything stopped. It certainly could have put us in a dangerous situation at any time we were driving it. We did bring into a Ford Dealer and it was diagnosed with a bad Throttle Body. It was repaired at full cost to us. We do not feel this was a problem caused by us and was, apparently,04/18/ a frequent issue with some Ford vehicles but never recalled. At this time, we are looking for reimbursement for the cost of the repair and labor.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was at the dealer for routine service, the contact was informed that the engine oil pan was faulty, and oil was leaking from the oil pan. The contact was informed that the oil pan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 33,000. The VIN was not available.
In 2022, while behind the wheel of my 2015 F150, I would be driving down the highway (70+ mph) and the transmission would suddenly downshift to 1st gear, then jump to 3rd, and then back down to first gear, all over the place. This happened on several occasions. It was erratic, I experienced sudden changes in speed, sudden and frightening revving of the engine (especially on the highway) and on several occasions I had to make sudden changes to my driving to ensure my safety as well as the safety of others on the road. After I was able to pull over and turn my truck off, the truck would either not turn back on or take a while to be able to turn on. I had no warning that the transmission was about to shift gears and only noticed a check engine light after the incident had occurred. After taking my truck to a transmission shop and they did not find an issue with the transmission (it worked correctly while they test drove it), I took it to a Ford Dealership where I was told there was a fault with the CAM Shaft sensors. After a $3,000 repair to fix the issue, I recently found Ford has Recalled 2014 F-150s for issues that sound identical to what I was experiencing in my 2015 F-150.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the engine coolant temperature and the check engine warning lights illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that the failure had become frequent. After using a personal diagnostic reader, he retrieved two failure codes for the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor circuit. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the knock sensor wiring harness, coolant sensors, and fuel seals needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there was no recall under VIN and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while closing the rear door he heard an abnormal rattling noise. The smaller rear window was hanging down. The top railing glue had detached from the rod. The window hit the rear occupant on the head. There were no reported injuries, The vehicle was taken to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contact The failure mileage was approximately 52, 500.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated he could be hear the cooling fan would be running on high, the AC and the temperature gauge were not functioning. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 145,000.
2015 F150 Truck - Used auto start. Came out later. Truck was full of smoke. The rear sliding defrost window was blown up. Glass was everywhere.
Warped exaust manifolds due to broken bolts. Both sides. Result in bad emmisons and possibly of carbon monoxide entering occupied cabin and poisoning passengers. Glazing/ warped rotors. Unknown cause.
On 2/26/22 I had to use the jack that was included with the truck to try to lift the rear passenger side wheel in order to change a flat tire. The bed of the truck was empty so the jack only had to lift the weight of the vehicle. This was the first time that I had attempted to use the jack. I placed the jack in the proper position as indicated by the user manual. After lifting the truck wheel approximately 2-4" the handle of the jack broke by twisting and shearing off below the hook. Stranding the truck on the jack. Using a floor jack I was able to extract Ford's car jack from under the truck noticing that the threaded rod in the jack was bent. This jack is a potential crush hazard as it is not strong enough to lift up the vehicle that it was included with when the vehicle is unloaded.
Exhaust Manifolds warping. This issue is not only very disappointing that Ford hasn't addressed this issue but is a safety concern as well. This allows exhaust fumes to escape not only into the air but potentially inside the cab. This could result in serious lung issues and needs to be addressed. Thank you!
Experienced a head on collision with an animal at 74mph on route 93. Total damage to front end and air bags were not deployed. Injuries sustained
2/11/22.While at a complete stop, foot on brake, my truck started creeping forward and I kept pushing on the brake and I couldn't stop until my truck ran into the back of a semi trailer. After shutting truck off, and starting again, it appeared to work again. My 7 year old grand daughter was with me and she heard me yelling, "I can't stop, I can't stop". It has not been confirmed by dealership because it has to go collision shop on 2/14/22. No Warnings came on my dash. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The rear passenger doors, more commonly the passenger rear door will not unlock. On several occasions I have had to repeatedly lock and then unlock the door system to eventually enable the doors to open. This poses as a potential safety hazard if the driver and/or front passenger were incapacitated. The rear passengers could potentially be trapped in the vehicle and unable to reach a safe distance in the event of a fire or water hazard.
The windshield spraying system freezes when temperatures drop below freezing. This is an extremely dangerous and hazardous situation. Even when using -35 degree windshield washer fluid (well below recommendation) my windshield has been frozen over and covered in grime. The frozen system does not allow for the windshield to be sprayed and cleared. The vehicle is undriveable in this condition. This is a known problem with a technical bulletin issued. Ford’s resolution is that the customer pays for this remediation. This is unsatisfactory as it is a clear design and safety flaw.
Warped exhaust manifolds
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the speedometer displayed an inaccurate speed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Ford F-150. The contact stated the oil pan was leaking.
