DURING THE "VERY RANDOM" PROCESS OF SHIFTING THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, FROM ANY GEAR TO ANY GEAR, THE GEAR DOES NOT ENGAGE AND APPEARS TO BE IN NEUTRAL THEN THE ENGINE REVS TO THE HIGHEST RPM UNTIL I PRESS THE BRAKE AND PUT INTO GEAR A SECOND TIME. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN MOTION AND WHEN AT A STOP SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 20 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK. WHEN THIS OCCURS IT IS UNPREDICTABLE. IT HAPPENS BOTH WHEN I AM HAULING A TRAILER AND WHEN I AM NOT. I HAUL A SMALL TWO HORSE TRAILER WEEKLY AND THIS HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL AND I DOWNSHIFTED. THE TRUCK DID NOT FEEL LIKE IT WAS UNDER MY CONTROL. I PANIC EVER TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED AND THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED A FORD F 150 WITH 11 MILES ON IT IN NOVEMBER 2015. IT NOW HAS 14,000 MILES ON IT. IT HAS BROKEN DOWN THREE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IT NOW HAS IT'S FORTH (4) THROTTLE BODY IN IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE GOES INTO A CRAWL MODE. IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS. FORD NEEDS TO REPLACE THIS VEHICLE. IT'S A LEMON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS WHEEL TURNED TO THE LEFT. UPON RELEASE, IT FAILED TO RETURN BACK TO THE CENTER. THE CONTACT HAD TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT TO MAKE IT MOVE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RAIRDON'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MARYSVILLE (16610 SMOKEY POINT BLVD, ARLINGTON, WA 98223 (360) 653-5664), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. WHEN THE CONTACT LEFT THE DEALER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND TEST DRIVEN BY A TECHNICIAN WHO WITNESSED THE FAILURE. RAIRDON'S CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF MARYSVILLE HAD THE VEHICLE SENT TO MARYSVILLE FORD (15900 SMOKEY POINT BLVD, MARYSVILLE, WA 98271 (360) 386-1245), BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED, AND THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES PRESENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
BACK UP CAMERA TURNS OFF WHILE F150 IS STILL MOVING BACKWARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. DURING THE FAILURE, THE MESSAGES AND WARNING INDICATORS FOR THE HILL START NOT AVAILABLE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND CHECK ENGINE DISPLAYED AND ILLUMINATED. AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO DAYS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEMMIMS ANDERSON FORD IN BOERNE, TX WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 3 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY EXCESSIVE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT REGAINED CONTROL OF THE BRAKES AND THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE CONTACT USED THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 FORD F150 WHEN THE POWER STEERING FAILED. I WAS DRIVING ON A CURVED ROAD WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CODE, "STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE REQUIRED" APPEARED. DAYS BEFORE, THE STEERING FELT TIGHT. I HAD ALSO BEEN EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE WIPER BLADES TURNING ON, AND FAILING TO TURN OFF. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE TRUCK, PURCHASED IT TWO YEARS AGO (ALMOST TO THE DAY), AND IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 38,000 MILES. FORD WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK IN FOR SERVICE UNTIL AFTER IT ROLLED OVER 36,000 MILES. LUCKILY, I AM AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER WITH A COMMERCIAL LICENSE OR THE COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AND DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND BODILY INJURY.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LEVEL ALERT CAME ON. I TESTED THE BRAKES AND THEY FELT SOFT. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL. IT WAS LOW. I ADDED FLUID. THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE BRAKE PRESSURE RETURNED. THE TRUCK DROVE NORMALLY FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES. AT THAT TIME THE LOW FLUID LEVEL ALERT RETURNED AND I LOST BRAKING. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD SERVICE CENTER. THEY STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND BLED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
SEVERAL NON STARTING ISSUES. ON ONE OCCASION, INSTRUMENT PANEL DID NOT COME ON AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN UNSAFE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH NO INDICATION OF SPEED, ENGINE/TRANSMISSION INFORMATION, AND OTHER VITAL DATA. AFTER SEVERAL RESTARTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON AFTER A 45 SECOND DELAY. A WRENCH WARNING ICON WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY SERVICING DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE, SO NO REPAIR WAS MADE. THE TRUCK WAS STATIONARY WHEN THIS OCCURRED. WE WERE PARKED ON A CITY STREET. THIS TRUCK HAS HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. I HAVE SEVERAL SERVICE RECORDS WHICH I WILL SUPPLY IF NEEDED TO HELP YOUR INVESTIGATION.
I WAS TOWING/DRIVING WITH AN AIRSTREAM TRAVEL TRAILER IN THE GEORGIA MOUNTAINS WHEN SMOKE STARTED RISING OUT OF THE DASH WITH AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. THEN THE BRAKES SEIZED ON THE TRAILER. I WAS BLOCKING THE ROAD BUT THANKFUL I WAS NOT DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE TRAILER SYSTEMS WERE CHECKED FOR A SHORT- NOTHING. THEN THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO A FORD DEALER IN CLEVELAND, GA WHO TESTED THE OEM BRAKE CONTROLLER ON A DIFFERENT TRAILER AND IT DID THE SAME THING AND BURNED SOME MORE. THEY REPLACED THE UNIT AND I RETURNED HOME; HOWEVER, SEARCHING THE INTERNET I DISCOVERED OTHERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS NOT A SAFE SITUATION AND THE UNIT IS A FEATURE OF THE TRUCK FROM FORD, NOT THIRD PARTY.
ISSUE: WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND 40MPH, THE "LOW BREAK FLUID" WARNING FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD AND I INSTANTLY LOST THE BREAKS. THE BREAK FLUID TANK WAS EMPTY AND THERE WAS NO APPARENT LINKAGE. FORD DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT THE BREAK BOOSTER MASTER CYLINDER FAILED
BRAKES STOPPED WORKING IMMEDIATELY AFTER BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. FILLED WITH 1 QUART OF BRAKE FLUID AND IT DISAPPEARED INTO THE BOOSTER. NO BRAKE FLUID ON GROUND.
I EXPERIENCED A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE ON MY 2015 FORD F150. WITHOUT WARNING MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR FOLLOWED BY A WARNING ON THE DASH THAT SAID 'BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW'. IT WAS EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT I WAS VERY CLOSE TO MY HOME AND TRAVELING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD OR THIS PROBABLY WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS LOW IN THE RESERVOIR. I TRIED ADDING BRAKE FLUID, BUT THE PEDAL AGAIN WENT TO THE FLOOR AFTER ONE OR TWO PUMPS OF THE BRAKE AND THE WARNING CAME ON AGAIN. THERE WAS NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF A LEAK ON MY DRIVEWAY. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 40788.8 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS HAD AN EASY LIFE. I CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER IN GEORGETOWN, TEXAS FOR HELP. THEY HAD ME CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER CARE TO SEE IF THEY WOULD TOW IT IN. THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP FROM MY HOUSE AND TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FORD DEALER REACHED OUT TO FORD AND SUGGESTED I DO THE SAME SINCE THEY HAVE SEEN THE SAME PROBLEM ON OTHER FORD F150'S. I CONTACTED FORD AND A CASE WAS OPENED CAS-13072940-B9V3Q2. THE DEALER INFORMED ME ON SEPTEMBER 25TH THAT FORD CLOSED THE CASE SINCE THERE WAS NO OUTSTANDING FIELD SERVICE ACTION ON THE PARTS. I REQUEST THAT THE NHTSA WORK WITH FORD TO IMMEDIATELY ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE 2015 F150'S. I FIND IT UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD HAS ALREADY HAD A RECALL ON 2013-2014 F150'S FOR WHAT IS DESCRIBED AS THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE V6 ENGINE COMBINATION AS WHAT WE EXPERIENCED ON OUR 2015 FORD F150. I HAVE ALSO SEEN ARTICLES SUCH AS THE ARTICLE IN AUTOWEEK ON OCTOBER 5, 2016 THAT THE 2015-2016'S HAVE HAD REPORTS OF THE SAME FAILURE. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR ITEM AND GIVES NO WARNING OF A PENDING FAILURE.
LEAKED BRAKE FLUID AND LOST BRAKING POWER. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. I WAS TOLD BY MECHANIC THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
DRIVING 65 MPH ON HWY 183 IN TRAFFIC, THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" INDICATOR CAME ON. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR BOARD. NO BRAKES! I PUMPED THE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES AND THE STRAIGHT TO FLOOR BOARD AND NO BRAKES!... THE TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF ME BEGAN TO SLOW AND BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP MY COMPOSURE AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN TO AVOID A COLLISION AND WAS ABLE TO GET OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER IN THE TRUCK AND THIS COULD HAVE ENDED HORRIBLY. I TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST DEALER I COULD FIND. THE BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY DRY AND NO EXTERNAL LEAKS. THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED AND LEAKED OFF INTO THE BOOSTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LEGACY FORD, ROSENBERG, TX, 77471, 888-694-4154), BUT THE CONTACT DID NOT RECALL THE DIAGNOSIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO DISCOUNT HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 37,000.
I STARTED A DRIVE, I GOT ONE HALF MILE INTO THE DRIVE AND THE CHIMES WENT OFF ON THE DASH STATING LOW BRAKE FLUID. I TESTED THE BRAKES TO SEE IF THEY WERE RESPONSIVE. THEY WERE NORMAL FROM MY EXPERIENCE. I DROVE ANOTHER FIVE MILES AND HAD TO SLOW FOR A HIGHWAY OVERPASS TURN. THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD A SLIGHT BIT OF BRAKE BUT ALMOST NON EXISTENT. I LIMPED THE TRUCK HOME AND CAREFULLY PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL GEAR ANY TIME I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. GOT IT TO MY GARAGE. CHECKED BRAKE FLUID, TOTALLY EMPTY. CHECKED ALL FOUR CORNERS AND FOUND NO FLUID. POURED NEW FLUID IN AND CHECK BRAKES AGAIN. THEY STARTED TO FIRM AND WENT LIMP AGAIN. CHECKED FOR LEAKS AGAIN. FOUND THE MASTER CYLINDER MAKING A HISSING NOISE AND FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR. WILL HAVE THE DEALER TOW TOMORROW.
PRIOR TO DAYLIGHT, I NEEDED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, AND WHEN I DID, A HIGHWAY MARKER HAD BEEN BENT/DAMAGED TOWARD THE INSIDE OF THE ROADSIDE LANE. MY TRUCK WAS SCRAPPED BY THE DAMAGED HIGHWAY MARKER.I WAS IN MOTION, AND I WAS ON THE I10 ON-RAMP AT HWY 90 IN TILLMANS CORNER MOBILE COUNTY.
DROVE AN HOUR AWAY TO ATTEND A CONCERT FRIDAY NIGHT, NO ISSUE AT ALL UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO LEAVE. THE TRUCK HAD A LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT AND THE BRAKE PEDDLE GOES STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD. AFTER FILLING WITH FLUID I DO NOT SEE A LEAK BUT THERE IS NONE LEFT IN THE RESERVOIR. IT SEEMS THIS IS A COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE! OF COURSE MY TRUCK JUST WENT OVER 36,000 MILES FOR A WARRANTY SERVICE (LESS THAN 37,000 CURRENTLY) AND I MAY BE STUCK REPAIRING A DEFECT THAT COULD HAVE KILLED ME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO TEAM FORD LINCOLN (5445 DREXEL RD, LAS VEGAS, NV 89130) WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD KEEP HIS RECEIPTS IN CASE OF POTENTIAL REIMBURSEMENT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
AFTER TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER 90 MILES TO A CAMPGROUND, I LEFT MY TRUCK PARKED FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS AT THE CAMPGROUND. WHEN PREPARING TO GO HOME, I TURNED ON THE VEHICLE AND WAS IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED BY THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OF LOW BRAKE FLUID. BRAKE PEDAL WOULD PRESS ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH MINIMAL RESISTANCE AND NO BRAKING POWER. I CHECKED THE RESERVOIR AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS MINIMAL FLUID. I LOOKED FOR ANY LEAKS OF BRAKE FLUID THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND ALL THE WAY BACK TO EACH WHEEL. NO LEAK WAS FOUND. I ADDED 1 BOTTLE (12 OZ) OF BRAKE FLUID TO GET THE LEVEL IN THE RESERVOIR BACK INTO RANGE. THE VEHICLE THEN OPERATED NORMALLY AND I WAS ABLE TO TOW MY TRAILER 90 MILES BACK HOME. HAD THE VEHICLE BEEN IN OPERATION WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC - ESPECIALLY WHILE TOWING.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A LOCAL DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,042.
VEHICLE WAS ON I88 WESTBOUND IN 4:30 RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC NEAR NAPERVILLE, IL WHEN THE DASH LIT UP, SPEED DROPPED DRAMATICALLY AND THE GAS PEDAL WENT DEAD-NO RESPONSE. ENGINE SPEED REDUCED TO A ROUGH IDLE. HAD TO SOMEHOW GET TO THE SHOULDER TO RESTART ENGINE TO GET RID OF THE ERROR. WAS FORTUNATE THE PROBLEM DID NOT RECUR UNTIL NEXT DAY ON SIDE ROADS. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO WILLOWBROOK FORD DEALER WHO REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ON 8/17/2017. WHY A SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC ERROR MESSAGE OCCURS FOR A FUEL PROBLEM BOGGLES MY MIND.
COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES DUE TO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM MASTER CYLINDER
TRUCK WAS IN MOTION (STRAIGHT LANE) ON DRY PAVEMENT STREET. DRIVER PUSHED ON BRAKES TO STOP AND NOTHING HAPPENED. TRUCK KEPT MOVING FORWARD AND HIT A STOPPED CAR WAITING AT A RED LIGHT. AFTER IMPACT, THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEN TO THE CURB AND WAS ABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE BRAKES.
I CAN'T KEEP IT STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY , IT DOESN'T FLOW WITH THE ROAD , VERY DANGEROUS . I WAS A COMPLETE NERVOUS WRECK ON A SIMPLE TWO HOUR TRIP WITH MY PARENTS.
WHILE USING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, THE VEHICLE FALSELY DETECTS AN OBSTACLE IN ITS PATH AND UNEXPECTEDLY APPLIES THE BRAKES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY HAD NO RECALL AND NO RECOMMENDED SOLUTION. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CRAIN FORD OF LITTLE ROCK (4601 COLONEL GLENN PLAZA DR, LITTLE ROCK, AR 72210, (501) 436-0341) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROOF OPENING PANEL AND THE FRAME ASSEMBLY ON THE SUN ROOF NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,645.

SEVERAL ERROR MESSAGES APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD INCLUDING "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE", "HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT", "SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC" AND "SEE MANUAL"..THE WRENCH AND ENGINE LIGHTS ALSO APPEARED. THERE WOULD BE NO THROTTLE RESPONSE AND THE ENGINE APPEARED TO BE RUNNING ON 4 OUT OF 6 CYLINDERS. TOOK THE TRUCK TO HAVE THE CODES SCANNED AND THE FOLLOWING TWO CODES APPEARED: P2111 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK OPEN AND P2112 THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM - STUCK CLOSED. TOOK THE TRUCK TO A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY VIN DID NOT HAVE A THROTTLE BODY RECALL BUT IN THEIR OPINION, IT WAS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY WITH A BBK-1822 THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY MYSELF.
ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL OCCASIONALLY CAUSES F 150 TO MAKE AN EMERGENCY STOP EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NOTHING IN FRONT OF TRUCK ON A CLEAR, SUNNY DAY. THE TRUCK WAS DOING 70-75 MPH 3 TIMES WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
WHILE DRIVING ON 7/27/2017 AROUND 9:00 AM, A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THAT SAID LOW BRAKE FLUID. 5-10 MINUTES LATER WHEN I WENT TO SLOW DOWN TO TAKE AN ON RAMP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD BARELY ENOUGH BRAKING TO SLOW THE VEHICLE, AND TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO LEAVE THE ROAD. I HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, A "BRAKE FLUID LOW" MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT SLOWED DOWN AND PROCEEDED TO THE NEXT EXIT BEFORE LOSING ALL BRAKING ABILITY. THE CONTACT DOWNSHIFTED AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PURVIS FORD OF FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED, WHICH CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. BOTH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE LIGHT ON THE CLUSTER CAME ON TELLING ME THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW IN THE MASTER CYLINDER. I VERIFIED IT BY CHECKING THE FLUID. I WENT TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE AND WOUND UP PUTTING THREE 12OZ CANS OF BRAKE FLUID AND THE BRAKES WERE STILL MARGINALLY WORKING. I DROVE IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHERE 2 DAYS LATER I WAS INFORMED THE MASTER CYL. HAD LEAKED FLUID TO THE BOOSTER. THE DEALER WOUND UP REPLACING THE MASTER CYL., BRAKE BOOSTER WITH SENSOR, SPARK PLUGS, BRAKE SWITCH, VACUUM LINE CK VALVE, AND VACUUM PUMP.
I WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON I-75 JUST NORTH OF CINCINNATI, OH AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN A MESSAGE CAME ON DASH AND SAID SOMETHING LIKE "LOW OF BRAKE FLUID". I TESTED MY BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. TRAFFIC HAD SIMULTANEOUSLY BEGUN TO SLOW SO I DOWN SHIFTED THE TRANSMISSION, SWERVED FROM THE SLOW LANE TO THE SHOULDER AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO A COMPLETE STOP. I LIFTED THE HOOD AND FOUND NO BRAKE FLUID. I CALLED AND WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK. AFTER TWO HOURS, SINCE I HAD ONLY DRIVEN 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE I ASKED MY SON TO BRING ME A QUART OF BRAKE FLUID AND CHECK THE DRIVEWAY TO SEE IF THERE WAS A SPOT ON THE CONCRETE. THERE WAS NO SPOT ON CONCRETE, I ADDED AN ENTIRE QUART OF FLUID BUT STILL HAD NO BRAKES. HAD TRUCK BROUGHT TO KERRY FORD AND REPAIRED WHERE THEY ADVISED THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY 18 MOS OLD, THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY 36,000 MILES WHICH I HAD PASSED. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW. I PAID FOR THE REPAIR BUT COULD NOT GET THE MASTER CYLINDER FROM THE DEALER AS I WAS TOLD FORD REQUIRED THE OLD ONE FOR A CORE.
WAS ON A FREEWAY EXIT. TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY, AND I WAS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I WAS JUST ROLLING FORWARD AND WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO NEAR BOTTOM AND IMMEDIATELY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON INDICATING LOW BRAKE FLUID. I CLEARED THE SCREEN AND CONTINUED CAREFULLY TO MY SHOP WHICH WAS WITHIN A COUPLE OF MILES. I ADDED BRAKE FLUID TO THE MAX MARK THINKING I COULD NURSE IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS LATER IN THE DAY. WHEN I ATTEMPTED THAT TRIP SEVERAL HOURS LATER THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN AND I HAD LITTLE OR NO BRAKE POWER. I DECIDED TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED AND PULLED BACK SLOWLY INTO THE PARKING SPACE. I HAD NO BRAKE AT THIS POINT AND ACTUALLY HAD TO JAM THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK A COUPLE OF FEET BEFORE HITTING MY OWN BUILDING. THAT IS WHERE THE TOW TRUCK PICKED IT UP.
THIS TOOK 4 ATTEMPTS AND 2 DEALERS TO RESOLVE - ~34K MILES- LOUD GRINDING/VIBRATION FROM FRONT LEFT 4X4 HUB WHEN DRIVING ANY SPEED. THE FIRST DEALER HAD THE TRUCK FOR 6 DAYS AND CLAIMED THEY DIDN'T SEE OR HEAR THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TRIP TO THE DEALER THEY HAD FOR A FEW MORE DAYS AND SAID THEY FIXED IT. ON THE WAY HOME IT WAS OBVIOUSLY NOT FIXED AND I TURNED AROUND AND TOOK IT BACK. AGAIN AFTER TWO DAYS THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED YET IT WAS NOT. I THEN TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND THEY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND FIXED IT. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THE SERVICE LOG DIDN'T SHOW ANY SERVICE ATTEMPTS TO THE TRUCK SO MY TRUCK SAT FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND NO WORK WAS ACTUALLY DONE AND I WAS LIED TO. SECOND ISSUE - NOT RESOLVED. LIFE OF VEHICLE - WOBBLE/VIBRATION FROM 4X4 TRANSFER CASE THAT INTENSIFIES WITH INCREASED SPEED. DRIVING IN 4X4 LOW AT ALL SPEEDS YOU CAN FEEL AND SEE THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKE, EVEN GOING AS SLOW AS 10MPH. THE STEERING WHEEL, SEATS AND PEDDLES SHAKE AS IF THE TIRES AREN'T BALANCED. I HAVE INSTALLED 3 DIFFERENT SETS OF TIRES AND IT STILL SHAKES. 2 DIFFERENT TIRE SHOPS VERIFIED THE TIRES ARE GOOD AND THE ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD. THE SHAKING ISN'T BAD LIKE THE DEATH WOBBLE BUT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE. IT SHAKES ENOUGH THAT MY 3 YEAR OLD GETS SICK TO HER STOMACH FROM THE BOUNCING. THIRD ISSUE - RESOLVED WITH MY MONEY - AT ABOUT 45K MILES THE FACTORY FRONT ROTORS WERE WORN TO THE POINT OF REPLACEMENT DUE TO DEEP CUTS. THIS OCCURRED WITH THE FACTORY BRAKE PADS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I HAD A SUDDEN WARMING LIGHT FLASH SAYING BRAKE FLUID PROBLEM. I TESTED THE BRAKES AND THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR. TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WITH NO WARNING. THE TRUCK HAS 29,000 MILES AND WAS SERVICED WITHIN LAST 2 MONTHS. THIS COULD HAVE VERY BAD AND HAD TRAGIC CONSEQUENCES. I FORTUNATELY WAS ABLE TO DOWN SHIFT USING THE MANUAL SHIFT FEATURE AND SLOW DOWN AND STOP SAFELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. MY FAMILY AND I COULD HAVE BEEN IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND HURT OURSELVES OR OTHERS. FORD NEEDS TO GET THIS FIGURED OUT ASAP. CALL ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS.
THE 2-PANEL MOON ROOF THAT CAME INSTALLED WITH THE TRUCK HAS MALFUNCTIONED. IT IS RARELY USED BUT AT ABOUT 40K MILES (WHILE STATIONARY), THE GLASS WOULD NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. AFTER MANIPULATION, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT CLOSED BUT IT WILL NOT OPEN AGAIN. IT SOUNDS AS IF THERE WAS "CRUNCHING" OF PLASTIC ON PLASTIC AS THE ROOF CLOSED. THE REAR EDGE OF THE FRONT GLASS WILL TILT BUT NOT FULLY. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ARE AWARE THAT IT IS AN ISSUE DUE TO INFERIOR PARTS BUT HAVE FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND HAVE NOTICED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT AND SOME HAVE EXPERIENCED THE GLASS SHATTERING.
WHILE TRAVELING, WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, I HAD AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO ABRUPTLY DECELERATE. THIS JUST SO HAPPENED TO OCCUR WHILE IN TRAFFIC AND IN A CURVE BUT FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. I DID NOT KNOW AT THE TIME THAT THIS WAS THE THROTTLE BODY AND ASSUMED IT WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE ISSUE AND THE REPAIR COST I DECIDED TO RESEARCH IT AND IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON OCCURRENCE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS ISSUE MADE INTO A RECALL FOR SAFETY PURPOSES AND FOR FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE TO OTHER FORD OWNERS.

I WAS DRIVING HOME PULLING MY CAMPER UP A LARGE BRIDGE IN MICHIGAN DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC CONDITION AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO LIMP MODE CAUSING LOSS OR POWER TO TOW THE CAMPER UP AND OVER THE BRIDGE. I ALSMOST CREATED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH PEOPLE SLAMMING BRAKES BEHIND MY WHEN I WENT FROM 70 MPH TO 0 IN LESS THEN 150 FT. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AND CHARGED ME 200.00 FOR DEDUCTIBLE ON THE REPAIR. I SEE ALL OVER THE WEB THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND FORD IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. WHEN THIS OCCURS YOU FEEL A LITTLE LAG IN THE PERFORMANCE WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE GAS PEDAL FOR A SECOND OR TWO. THE THE HILL DECENT WARNING WILL LIGHT UP FOLLOWED BY THE TRACTION CONTROL FAIL LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WILL THEN SLOW DOWN TO UNDER 5MPH AND ENGINE WILL RE RUNNING VERY ROUGH. YOU CAN SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART TO GET YOU FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD BUT AS TIMES GOES ON THIS WILL CONTINUE TO GET WORSE AND THEN HAPPEN EVERY MILE OR SO. THIS IS A SAFETY FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE PROVIDING OPERATOR ASSISTANCE, TRAFFIC ALERTS, TURN BY TURN DIRECTIONS, AND OTHER SAFETY RELATED SERVICES.
