MY ELECTRIC TAILGATE IS COMING DOWN WITHOUT ME OPENING IT. I WAS HOOKING UP MY SNOWMOBILE TRAILER AND IT CAME DOWN ON MY HEAD. WE HAVE HAD IT OPEN GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND WITH A TONNEAU COVER YOU DON'T KNOW IT HAS FALLEN. THANKFULLY THE BOYS HAD DOWN HILL SKIS IN BACK THAT DIDN'T FLY OUT AND KILL SOMEONE. I HAVE NOW PULLED THE FUSE BUT THAT INTERFERES WITH OPENING THE DOORS. AND MAKES MY REAR BOX USELESS WITH THE TONNEAU COVER. I HAVE TO PUT THE FUSE BACK IN IN ORDER TO OPEN THE TAILGATE. DETROIT -- FORD IS RECALLING ITS POPULAR F-150 PICKUP TRUCK IN CANADA TO FIX A PROBLEM WITH ELECTRIC TAILGATE LATCHES, BUT IDENTICAL TRUCKS AREN'T BEING RECALLED IN THE U.S.
TAILGATE OPENS GOING DOWN THE ROAD, TAILGATE OPENS ANYTIME I UNLOCK THE DOORS, AND TAILGATE OPENS WHEN REMOTE IS NEAR TAILGATE WITH NO BUTTONS PUSHED.
VEHICLE WILL ABRUPTLY CHANGE FIRST GEAR IN THE MORNING CAUSING A WHIPLASH MOVEMENT. AFTER THAT FIRST ABRUPT CHANGE IT OPERATES NORMALLY. ALSO OCCASIONALLY, WHILE ON A HILL THE VEHICLE WILL TURN OFF DUE TO THE STOP/START FUNCTION BUT IT WILL NOT TURN ON.
F150 WITH ELECTRONIC TAILGATE RELEASE WILL RANDOMLY UNLOCK AND DROP OPEN. THIS IS HAPPENING AT LEAST 50% OF THE TIMES I USE MY TRUCK. I'VE HEARD THE TAILGATE RELEASE BE ACTIVATED WITH MY FOB KEY SETTING ON THE DASH BOARD, NO ONE TOUCHING IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TODAY, 1/10/2020, AND THE SERVICE REP HEARD IT UNLOCK THE TAILGATE WHILE HE WAS HOLDING THE KEY FOB. HE INDICATED THERE IS A RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT FOR F150'S.. ONLY F250-450'S. WHAT REALLY SCARES ME THERE IS NO WARNING OR NOTIFICATIONS THE TAILGATE HAS DROPPED DOWN AND IS NOW OPEN. I ONLY KNOW WHEN I STOP AND SEE IT DOWN OR THE LOUD STEADY WARNING WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE. SO FAR NOTHING HAS FALLEN OUT BUT THIS IS CLEARLY UNSAFE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED/REPAIRED ASAP BY FORD. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN OPERATING ON BOTH CITY ROADS AND HIGHWAYS, ALTHOUGH, I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN IT IS UNLOCKED OR DROPS OPEN. THIS PROBLEM FIRST OCCURRED IN EARLY DECEMBER; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT NEARLY AS FREQUENT; NOW IT IS ALMOST EVERY TIME I USE MY TRUCK.
BOUGHT TRUCK DROVE 40 MILES HOME STARTING MAKING TICKING NOISE. CALLED DEALER SAID COMMON PROBLEM TOOK TO DEALERSHIP COUNDNT FINE PROBLEM. TONIGHT THE MOTOR BLEW UP. DEALERSHIP NOT ANSWERING PHONE CALLS. TRUCK ONLY HAS 30000 MILES ON IT. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO . TECHNICAN SAID HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE CAM PHASERS BUT THEY DIDN'T FIX IT
THE DOOR LATCHES BECOME INOPERATIVE IN BELOW FREEZING WEATHER AND REQUIRE THE INSIDE OF THE CABIN TO BE HEATED FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES BEFORE THEY WILL WORK. I HAVE HAD BOTH FSA'S COMPLETED BY A FORD DEALER FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THIS ISSUE PRESENTS A SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE THE DOORS WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED AND COULD SWING OPEN DURING DRIVING.
MY 2017 FORD F150 HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION, BUT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS REFUSED TO HONOR THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR OR REPLACE IT. THE DETAILS OF WHAT HAS HAPPENED ARE DESCRIBED IN ONE OF TWO PDF FILES THAT I WILL ATTACH TO THIS SUBMISSION. I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING MAY BE WIDESPREAD AND THAT FORD DEALERSHIPS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY MAY BE REFUSING TO REPAIR OR REPLACE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSIONS BECAUSE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL NOT AUTHORIZE THEIR DEALERSHIPS TO DO THIS WARRANTED WORK. ONE OF THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD WITH THE TRANSMISSION IS IN MY OPINION POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND LETHAL. ON DECEMBER 24, 2019, WHILE MERGING ON TO A BUSY HIGHWAY FROM THE ON-RAMP, WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN SPORT MODE, MY TRUCK DID NOT ACCELERATE AS I ENTERED THE LANE ADJACENT TO THE ON-RAMP. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE RPM DIAL WENT UP TO ABOUT 6000, BUT NOTHING HAPPENED. THE SPEED OF MY TRUCK DID NOT INCREASE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME IN THIS LANE TO ALMOST REAR-ENDED ME. HAD THIS OTHER DRIVER NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION AND FAILED TO APPLY HIS OR HER BRAKES, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED. ALTHOUGH THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN VERY COOPERATIVE AND HAS EVEN OFFERED TO REPLACE MY VEHICLE WITH A NEWER AND MORE EXPENSIVE ONE (WHICH I DECLINED), FORD MOTOR COMPANY (WITH WHOM I HAVE TRADED EMAILS ABOUT THIS) APPEARS SO FAR TO BE UNCONCERNED AND CONTENT WITH THE CONCEPT THAT AN APPARENTLY DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION IN AT LEAST ONE (POSSIBLY MILLIONS) OF ITS F150S COULD COMPROMISE THE SAFETY OF ITS DRIVER. I AM DEEPLY CONCERNED.
ARRIVED AT WORK ON 12-23-19 AT 8 AM (WALGREENS PARKING LOT). SHUT MY FRONT DRIVER DOOR AND THE REAR WINDOW OF MY F-150 PICKUP SHATTERED.
I am writing to formally submit a complaint regarding persistent and significant issues with the cam phasers in my 2017 Ford F-150 EcoBoost. I purchased the vehicle in December 2019 with 40,000 miles on it. Since then, I have experienced ongoing cam phaser problems, which have led to considerable inconvenience and expense. In February 2022, with 92,000 miles on the vehicle, I took it to a dealership for reprogramming as per Ford’s Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP). Unfortunately, this did not resolve the issue. The cam phaser problems persisted, ultimately resulting in a major repair on June 17, 2024, when the truck had 134,000 miles, costing $4,100. The repair involved: •Checking engine light diagnosis and verification of cam phaser failure. •Removal and replacement of timing chains, phasers, chain tensioners, valve covers, gaskets, and other related components. •Reinstallation and testing to ensure the problem was resolved. I believe Ford should cover these costs since the cam phaser issue is widely known and documented as a design flaw in the 3.5L EcoBoost engines, particularly those produced before 2021. Ford acknowledged this issue and updated the cam phaser design in 2021, but many owners, including myself, have experienced failures despite adhering to recommended maintenance and service procedures . I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further and hold Ford accountable for the costs associated with these known defects. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
WHILE DRIVING IN LOCAL SHOPPING CENTER BETWEEN STORE #1 AND STORE #2 APPROXIMATELY DISTANCE OF 300 FEET, THE FRONT OF MY GAS TANK FELL TO THE PAVEMENT WHILE THE REAR OF THE TANK REMAINED. I CONTACTED THE FORD ROADSIDE SERVICE WHICH DISPATCHED A TOW VEHICLE THE TOW DRIVER WAS ABLE TO RAISE THE FRONT ENOUGH TO GET MY TRUCK ONTO THE TOW TRUCK. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 5:15 PM ON 12/21/2019 TEMPERATURE AT 70 DEGREES.
TAILGATE OPEN REPEATEDLY WHILE PARKED WITH TRUCK SHUT OFF. HAS DONE THIS SINCE NEW. YOU CAN HEAR THE LATCH ACTIVATE AND LET THE TAILGATE OPEN. I HAVE LOST THINGS WHEN I DID NOT REALIZE THE TAILGATE WAS OPEN THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IT OPENED FIVE TIMES TODAY AFTER SLAMMING IT SHUT AND THEN IT STAYED SHUT UNTIL I GOT HOME WHILE BACKING IN THE DRIVEWAY IT UNLATCHED AND OPENED AGAIN. THE WEATHER TODAY WAS ABOVE FREEZING AND DRY IT HAS BEEN DRY FOR SEVERAL DAYS.
DOOR LOCKS FROZEN TEMPERATURE WAS 17 DEGREES AND TRUCK WOULD NOT UNLOCK HAD TO LEAVE IT AT WORK. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS BEFORE BUT I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THE DOORS OPEN BUT THEY WOULDN'T LATCH CLOSED
WITHOUT WARNING, BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, PUMPING BRAKES BROUGHT PRESSURE AND WAS ABLE TO STOP. UPON INSPECTION AT BRAKE REPAIR SHOP, MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE WAS IDENTIFIED.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE GOES BELOW FREEZING, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE.
I HAD MY 2017 FORD F-150, 22,681 MILES, PARKED AT A KROGER GROCERY STORE. I STARTED THE IGNITION WITH THE KEY FOB AND LOADED MY SON. AFTER I GOT IN I HEARD MY SON COUGHING, SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND REALIZED THERE WAS BLACK SMOKE WHEN SUDDENLY THE REAR WINDOWS BLEW OUT INCHES FROM HIS HEAD. I NEVER EVEN GOT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. I REMOVED MY SON AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DISCOVERED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROST WIRE HAD SMOLDERED AND MELTED CAUSING HEAT AND THE COMBUSTION THAT AFFECTED THE WINDOWS IN THE COOL NIGHT TEMP. TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE REAR DEFROSTER CONTACTS HAD COME LOOSE AND WAS THE CAUSE. THEY SUBMITTED PICS AND REPORT TO FORD TO AWAIT A DECISION IF THEY WILL COVER THE DAMAGE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER DOORS OPENED ON THEIR OWN AND THE DOOR CHIME SOUNDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DAHL FORD (561 THEATER RD, ONALASKA, WI 54660) WHERE THEY WERE IN THE PROCESS OF REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOOR LATCHES WERE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BY THE SAME DEALER FOUR TIMES PER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM NUMBER: 18N03 ISSUED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: JAS25115054. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,045.
THE STEERING GETS STIFF AFTER STEADY DRIVING OF 80 TO 150 MILES. I HAD IT CHECKED AT A FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THIS YEAR MODEL FOR THE PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THE DEALER OFFERED NO OTHER EXPLANATION OR SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME AND ONLY STOPS AFTER THE VEHICLE RESTS FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THE DATES ARE FROM SEPT. 2018 UNTIL NOW. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED FROM ENTERPRISE LEASING.
WHILE DRIVING AND ACCELERATING A LOUD SCREECHING NOISE WOULD OCCUR. IT WOULD HAPPEN ONCE SPEEDS OF GREATER THEN 30MPH. IT WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WELL. IT TURNS OUT IT WAS A BAD IWE SOLENOID. AFTER DOING RESEARCH THIS IS VERY COMMON AMONG F150S.
TODAY WAS THE WORST OF THE 4 TIMES THAT THIS SAME SITUATION OCCURRED. I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY IN DOWNTOWN ATLANTA WHEN I ACCELERATED AND SWITCHED LANES TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. THE TRUCK ACCELERATED FINE BUT WOULD NOT STOP ACCELERATING WHEN I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDDLE. I HAD TO BREAK HARD TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR. AS SOON AS I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BREAK, THE CAR ENGINE REVVED UP AND ACCELERATED FORWARD AGAIN EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOT TOUCHING THE GAS. THIS WENT ON FOR ALMOST 5 MINUTES AND WAS VERY SCARY. I COULD HAVE EASILY HAD AN ACCIDENT. AT FIRST, THOUGHT IS WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKING IN BUT IT WAS OFF. EACH OF THE 4 SITUATIONS OCCURRED WHEN TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO MY DEALERSHIP BACK ON AUGUST 12TH WHEN IT HAPPENED THE 3RD TIME. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I KNOW THERE IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK AND NEED TO FIND A SOLUTION BEFORE I OR SOMEONE GETS HURT.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford F-150. The contact stated while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle was shuddering abnormally. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was driven twice and towed to a local dealer; where the cam phasers were replaced on three occasions; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the same local dealer where it was diagnosed with the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and transferred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000. The VIN was not available.
I HAVE 22,500 MILES ON THIS 2017 FORD F150 3.5 ECOBOOST. IT HAS STARTED THROWING A CODE OF PO4DB CRANKCASE DISCONNECT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND THERE ARE A LOT OF FORD PRODUCTS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. THIS CODE MAKE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND STAY ON. IT APPEARS IT'S IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM, IS MY UNDERSTANDING. SITTING STILL, DRIVING IT DOESN'T MATTER ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON.
WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DIPS BELOW FREEZING, DOOR WILL NOT LATCH ON DRIVERS SIDE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. ONLY REMEDY I HAVE FOUND IS TO EITHER PARK IN A GARAGE (NOT POSSIBLE FOR ME) OR TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND HIT THE LOCK BUTTON. THE DOOR WILL NOT FULLY CLOSE, BUT AFTER TRUCK GETS TO WARMING TEMP, IT EVENTUALLY WILL LATCH. JUST A SUPER DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU NEED THE TRUCK TO GET TO WORK OR SOMETHING AND HAVE NO OTHER MODE OF TRANSPORT. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SAFETY BULLETIN BUT MY VIN COMES BACK WITH NO RECALLS.
I have had transmission gear changes abruptly/rough on my 6 speed 2017 XLT F150. It seems to happen more often downshifting from 4th to 3rd gear. I reported this to dealer early after purchase when I still had factory waranty. Dealer inspected and answered that “this is normal.”
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AND BECAME INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED; HOWEVER, THE STEERING ASSIST MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SHETLER-CORLEY MOTORS LIMITED (623 N PARKERSON AVE, CROWLEY, LA 70526, (337) 783-4600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC STEERING WHEEL RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: CAS-24558242-22D9K7. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
Safety Concern: Potential engine failure at speed. Cam Phasers cause loud rattle on cold start. Sound is alarming, as if the engine will fail. Engine light came on, dealer tested and recommended cam phaser repair & replacement. FORD would not pay for repair b/c mileage over 90K. I paid for 1st repair 11OCT2019, failed 2nd time 09Nov2020, Dealer repair under warranty. Received letter from Ford "Customer Satisfaction Notice: to have Powertrain Control Module reprogram, completed 17NOV2021. Engine rattle on cold start occured 3rd time, Dealer told me I'm on a waitlist in Jan2022. Notice to bring vehicle in, 9May2022 for diagnosis, same problem. Ford Customer service contacted twice, Ford refuses to repair again under warranty. Told me to file this complaint. Dealer would not repair under warranty, because Ford will not cover 2nd repair. Dealer told me there is nothing they can do and referred me to file this complaint.
THE DRIVER DOOR STOPS LATCH WILL FREEZE UP AND NOT CLOSE HALF THE TIME WHETHER ITS SITTING STILL OR IN MOTION

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS IMMEDIATELY TAKEN TO GRAPEVINE FORD (8101 E. STATE HWY 114, GRAPEVINE, FORD) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000. *PM CONSUMER STATED HE TRIED APPLYING THE BRAKES SEVERAL TIMES BUT BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND EMERGENCY BRAKES HAD TO BE USED.*JB
WAS USING MY REMOTE START WITH REAR WINDOW DEFROST THIS MORNING. AS I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE TRUCK AND MY WIFE WAS INSIDE WITH ALL DOORS SHUT, THE REAR WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED. THE TRUCK WAS NOT MOVING AND THERE WAS IMPACT TO THE WINDOW.
ON OCTOBER 3, 2019, A CAR FAILED TO YIELD AND DROVE IN MY PATH. I COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 45 MILES PER HOUR WITH MY 2017 FORD F 150 XLT. I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH AT 45 MPH AND THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING EAST AT 15 MPH. THE HIGHWAY I WAS TRAVELING ON A 4 LANE CITY STREET THAT HAD A 45 MPH SPEED LIMIT TRAVELING SOUTH. THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING EAST DOWN A 2 LANE CITY STREET WITH A STOP SIGN AT THE CORNER. THE OTHER VEHICLE STOPPED AT THE STOP SIGN AND PROCEEDED TO PULL OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I AM RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR MY INJURIES.
MOONROOF JAMMED. THE UPR WINDOW IS NOT CAPABLE OF OF SLIDING BACK. RARELY USED AND SUDDENLY DOESN'T WORK.
FORD F150 RECALL #18N03 WHERE THE DOOR LATCH CAN FREEZE NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO CLOSE OR NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO OPEN. WEST HURR FORD OF ROCHESTER NY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE RECALL UNTIL THE DOOR LATCH ACTUALLY FROZE. MY CONCERN IS THAT I TRAVEL FRO NEW YORK TO PA A LOT AND IF IT FREEZES WHEN I AM IN PA I WOULD BE STRANDED UNTIL A DEALER COULD FIT ME IN TO FIX.
MY NEW F-150 FRONT DIFFERENTIAL LEAKS. WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN VEHICLE I CAN HEAR KNOCK SOUND AND AROUND FRONT AXLE AND SUDDEN DECELERATE.
AFTER THE AUTO START/STOP FEATURE ENGAGES THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY RETURN. SO WHEN I AM STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, STOP SIGN OR LEFT TURN AND THE AUTO START/STOP RESTARTS THE ENGINE WHEN I RELEASE THE BRAKE IT CAN TAKE UP TO 3 SECONDS FOR THE POWER STEERING TO REENGAGE. I HAVE HAD THIS TO THE DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS FUNCTIONING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE DID NOT BEHAVE THIS WAY WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION REQUIRE A RAPID RESTART AND TURN.

WHILE DRIVING MY 2017 FROD F 150, 2.7 ECOBOOST ENGINE WITH MY TRAVEL TRAILER IN TOW. MY ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING AS I CAME TO STOP AT THE END OF AN EXIT RAMP. I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY START THE ENGINE BUT IT REPEATEDLY STALLED IF I DID NOT PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS PROBLEM PERSISTED FOR SEVERAL MORE STOP INTERSECTIONS AS I MADE MY WAY HOME. My 2017 Ford F-150 (VIN [XXX] ) has serious safety issues that Ford has failed to address. The 10-speed transmission has been replaced three times by Ford dealerships and still hesitates and slips between 3rd and 4th gear, annd the plate now tings especially in cold weather. The truck bed has separated from the body near the wheel wells, leaving visible gaps to the ground and causing the tailgate to malfunction. This structural separation poses a safety risk if the bed detaches or tailgate fails under load. The cam phasers have also been repaired multiple times.
