The sunroof rail broken is the big issue for this Ford F-150 from 2015 to 2020. A lot of F150 between 2015 and 2020 have the sunroof issue which manufactures still not recall for this widely sunroof issue. If you search F150 sunroof issue it will come up a lot on the internet. There is no safety risk
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. The contact stated that the vehicle continued through the light but eventually came to a stop. The brake fluid low message was displayed approximately seven minutes after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact there was a hole in the brake line. The contact called the local dealer, who referred her to the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was contacted, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline. We have a 2018 Ford F150 10 speed transmission coyote that was manufactured in Kansas City. Thousands of trucks were recalled because of transmission issues to four manufacturing plants and the manufacturing plant in Kansas was one of them. As thousands of trucks were listed via vin number to the recall our truck was never added and we are wondering why? We have placed thousands of dollars into our vehicle and have maintained its maintenance to be going through the very same issues that the recall has issued on Ford. Our vehicle is at the ford dealership and while we wait to see if ford will assist us under a customer satisfaction program and we pinch every penny to see if we can afford a transmission; we are in awe that our vehicle was never placed in that recall. We need our vehicle vin added to that recall as it should have been in the first place.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, during daily start-up there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 39,474.

When pulling out of driveway and starting to accelerate the vehicle feels like it lurches forward from the rear as if rear ended. Dealership notes after review don’t reflect the issue that actually originally occurred and brought in for. Dealership reset the TCM and stated it resolved the reverse wnngage issue and temporarily resolved the power accelerate issue and drove fine for a day or two. Then on the third day it lurched again and lost all acceleration but engine reeves let foot off gas and then tried again to accelerate and same thing as I began to pull over the vehicle lunged forward again nearly making me drive off the road. This is a safety concern for myself as I live on a major highway and need to accelerate out of my driveway up to 65 and could pose a major accident. It has also dont this daily other times over the past few weeks while driving around town not just as I leave the house.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and decelerated to 40 MPH. The contact veered to the side of the roadway. The contact continued driving however, the vehicle experienced hard shifts while jerking. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into 10th gear. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where an unknown computer reset was completed, and the warning light disappeared; however, the vehicle jerked while reversing. The dealer was contacted and informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the transmission fluid was flushed a week prior to the failure. The contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
On the freeway at 75 MPH, the transmission (10 speed) popped out of 10th gear and into neutral. This caused the vehicle to slow down rapidly and a rear end collision was narrowly avoided. Transmision then shifted erratically from 10th to neutral to 9th gear. The transmission then overheated causing smoke to come from under the vehicle.
2018 Ford F150 downshifting from a Highway exit ramp speed of approximately 45 miles an hour from whatever gear that would be fourth or fifth with the 10 speed transmission into first gear. Causing rear end to lock up and car behind me to almost hit me as I came to an unintended complete stop. Took vehicle to the dealer being informed. I now need a complete new transmission and associated parts. The transmission is a 10 R 80. This incident was close to causing an accident, and if it had been wet at all, would have caused the vehicle to span, and possibly would’ve resulted in injury to occupants of vehicle and other vehicles around. Mileage 68000. No other transmission issues or warning.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that during cold starts, he heard a ticking and tapping sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that after idling for five seconds, the ticking and tapping sound subsided. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed by the technician of a known issue and provided information regarding TSB: 20-2315 (Replace the VCT and Update PCM). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was advised to call the manufacturer for assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall and advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 70,600.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard a clicking sound coming from the hood of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced excessive oil consumption. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft cam phaser had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, after approximately 23,000 miles the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the camshaft cam phaser failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the panoramic sunroof failed to close while pressing the close button. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the sunroof guide rails needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 60,000.
At 59,200 miles, I noticed 2nd gear being skipped due to "adaptive driving." I placed the setting to "sport mode" so that it would not adapt (but rather follow a pre-programmed shifting protocol). 2nd gear was not initiating for a set time (hi rev till it engaged but it finally would engage. No warning light appeared at the time). I then got my Transmission serviced, thinking it just needed its 60k maintenance. No better after service (but no worse). I called Ford to set an appointment (7 week wait to get in). I the mean time, I unhooked the battery for 12 hours so that the "adaptive driving" would reset. It instantly got worse and a wrench popped up warning of a need to repair (at about 60,250mi). Fast forward 2000 miles, it is now skipping 2nd, 4th and 5th, not down shifting when coming to a stop and randomly not engaging at all. Once at the dealer, I was advised the CDF drum had failed and needed to be replaced. Notes stated the Trans fluid looked "servery burnt" (in just 2000 miles since its service). I did some research and found tons of complaints on this 10 speed transmission. Even the dealer mentioned it is in their system as an ongoing issue to look for and is 1 step below a recall. My warning of concern being shared now is to hopefully push that to a recall as no transmission that has be "grandma driven" (no horsepower upgrades, never pulled a trailer, no long hauls) should fail at 60K miles as mine did (and many other owners of this transmission). Thank you
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the rear power sliding window top track loosened, and the window almost detached. A local dealer was contacted; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I bought my truck in the middle of 2022 with around 20,000 miles on it. Within the recent months, I started to hear a knocking/rattling noise every time I start my truck. When looking into it and asking some mechanics/technicians, I was told my truck year and engine had problems with the cam phasers and there might be a warranty or recall out for it. I found out that there was a Customer satisfaction program 21N03 with additional supplements. I looked further into it and called Ford to see if there was anything to be done and they recommended me to this site. As of the 2nd half of last year, this truck is new to me and still has under 50,000 miles on it. The customer satisfaction program ended before I ever heard the noises this year. The program ended January 1st, 2023. As the owner of a ford model in this program, I was never informed or made aware of needing to get this taken care of, nor did the dealership that sold me the truck, or service shops when getting my truck serviced make me aware or inform me of the issue with ford models and years similar to mine. The customer satisfactions program also state they would send letters out to all Ford owners with this important information. Outside of never learning of this until asking shops and researching, I also never got a letter as a Ford owner.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the vehicle rattled excessively. The contact stated that after the fluid levels increased, and the vehicle warmed up, the rattling ceased. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that all the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? This is the CAM PHASER in the engine that is making noise and most likely will fail. How was your safety or the safety of others put at ris ? The engine can stall out at any given moment with the risk of stalling out in traffic. or even a train track. We use this truck for traveling and it only had 69,000 on it. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? On inspection from our mechanic when we had the oil changed on 7/21/2023 we pointed out our truck made noise when starting the truck.. Later he comfirmed that it was an issue with the cam phaser and maybe our ford was part of that recall. The truck has an apt at the dealership on 8-7-2023 to fix the issue and it will be confirmed my diagnostic software and then fixed for the tune of over $2000 Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No just the Mechanic Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Having loud rattle and clunk when starting approximate on 7/1/2023 while on vacation with the truck. this is CAS44109058W6Z9G4

Dear Sir/Madam, My only vehicle is a 2018 10-speed Ford F-150. I’ve been very happy with it until recently when it started having difficulty finding and shifting gears. There have been several instances where I have lost speed while it was searching. This is an obvious safety issue and needs to be corrected. I’ve even started planning my routes based on where there are less stops. The truck has about 85,000 miles on it and should have a lot more life left in it. I would like to try to explain what’s been happening. •The transmission is slipping, can’t find gears and occasionally revs up in between gears. •The adaptive learning was reset on July 5 with no improvement. •When shifting 1-3 is ok. 3-4 sometimes it can’t find 4th gear. It revs up as the indicator on the dashboard goes between gears 4-2-1-8-4 as it is going through this pattern the accelerator is not responsive. Very embarrassing and unsafe. As it is looking for 4th gear it takes about 10 seconds to find it, the whole time it is decelerating causing traffic back-ups. •When shifting from 4-5 it slips and engine revs up but finds 5th gear considerable quicker. •5-6 is a normal shift. •6-7 or 8 is normal. •8-9 it slips and revs up just as from 4-5 gear. •9-10 is the same. Slips and revs up before going into 10th gear. •When going up a gradual incline and truck downshifts from 10-9 or 9-8 it slams into the lower gear very harshly. •After the vehicle has been running for a while the shifting pattern will switch. Instead of shifting from 1-3 it will shift from 1-2, which it cannot find 2nd gear for about 5 seconds, again creating a safety issue. I’ve taken the truck to a local Ford dealership for evaluation. They told me that it needs a new transmission and quoted me $8800 to get the work done. I also understand that this is a common problem with the Ford F-150. As stated before, this is extremely unsafe and must be repaired. The wrench on the dashboard is lit up also.

#9 - [Recall] Power Train:Automatic Transmission:Gear Position Indication (Prndl) Reported 8 months, 2 weeks ago by FORD SUNRISE Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the shift cable locking clip and properly seat it, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on april 13, 2018. Owners may contact ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for the recall is 18s10. Owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
2018 Ford F-150 Platinum Supercab 2x2 began to leak transmission fluid that hit hot muffler and began to smoke. Vehicle towed to Kelly Ford in Melbourne FL. Upon inspection, tech says that the transmission was "overfilled" and hot oil escaped from the top vent. I was then told that Ford now recommends ONE LESS quart of transmission fluid in the 10 speed transmissions. There is no TSB or recall I can find for this. Kelly Ford performed a transmission service 2 years ago and refilled the case. I have had no issues with it until now. They did say it "could" also be an air leak causing the oil to foam. I have also had numerous oil changes there and with ALL FLUID inspections. At no time was I informed on an "overfill" I amout the cost of a tow at $165
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the vehicle was vibrating abnormally. The contact stated that while driving and stopped at a traffic light or STOP sign, the vehicle started misfiring and idling roughly. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated along with two DTC codes for the cam shaft and crank shaft positioning sensors. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but had become a recurring failure. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the cam phasers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program Number: 21N03 - Engine Cam Phaser Replacement (Engine). The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
A seal in the rear of the brake master cylinder became compromised, allowing brake fluid to leak into the brake booster. This caused my brakes to fail and is a broken in many models of the truck.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a squeaking noise coming from the engine compartment, and the engine was running rough. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that cylinder #4 had misfire, and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
On three occasions, the transmission has shifted to neutral while trying to accelerate. Once while merging onto a highway and attempting a downshift into a lower gear, and two other times while taking off from a stop at an intersection. Letting off the accelerator allowed the transmission to shift into the correct gear. There is also harsh shifting from 1 to 3 when the truck is cold.
The cam phasers went bad and due to the result the vehicle shut down on it's own with no warning. It was a scary situation having my my 7 & 9 year old Nieces and nephews. I'm attaching the known service bulletin that Ford issues for this repair. Ford is now coming back telling me since i'm 2 months out of warranty I have to pay the $3200 repair for a known issue that they've extended the warranty on as well as issued tow more recent service bulletins before. My biggest concern is if something would have happened when it came to a complete stop and another vehicle crashed into us causing harm if not fatal injuries.
The truck stalled on me 2 times in the last month while running. The engine shuts off for no reason. There is no warning lights on the dash or any signs that something is failing in the truck.
The wheels have be change twice over the 78000 current miles, I am the original owner. The Lug Nuts are now difficult to remove and some impossible. The tire iron socket no longer fits any of the lug nuts. Reported widely on the internet, the OEM lug nuts swell and require replacement. I could not find replacements they, are in such demand. Called Ford to see if replacements are offered. They said no, but redesigned solid steel lug nuts are available for over $140 plus tax for 24. This is a safety issue. I am making long drives in remote areas of Nevada and not being able to repair a flat tire is a terrific safety issue. These lug nuts should be recalled for being unsafe. recently tried to replace the brakes and was unable to remove the tires for service.
Mechanical fuel pump exploding
The transmission shifts erratically in lower gears. The transmission shifts erratically at highway speeds between gears 8,9, and 10. The transmission shifts suddenly into first gear at any speed. When transmission begins to shift erratically at highway speeds it causes sudden loss of power. I bought the truck from the Ford dealership in Franklin North Carolina on [XXX]. It was taken to the dealership on 22, June, 2023 for these transmission issues. It was taken to the Ford dealership again on 19, October, 2023 for the same transmission issues. It was taken to the Ford dealership again this morning on 21, April, 2025 for the same transmission issues. This time the dealership told me they wouldn’t do anything about it even though it is under warranty. They are referring it back to the third party transmission repair shop that they sent it to the first two times. The owner of the transmission repair shop told me that he doesn’t know what is wrong with the transmission therefore he doesn’t know how to fix it. He told me that Ford doesn’t know what’s wrong with it and that is the reason they won’t issue a recall. The Ford dealership AND the transmission repair shop both told me that Ford issued a technical service bulletin on the problem stating there are three steps to attempt the repair. Step 1; update the software in the truck computer system. Step 2; replace the valve body in the transmission. Step 3; replace the transmission. My truck has been through the first two steps but when it came to the third step, the warranty company chose to rebuild the transmission instead of replacing it. I was driving in the city, though my miles are typically highway. My truck just shifted in neutral and I had to take it to the dealership. It has always shifted hard from third to fourth gear, but never caused a major issue and was told that was common. At 60,000 miles I did preventative maintenance, which included a complete service of my transmission. At approximately 81,000 miles my transmission failed on me. Endangering my life and others on the road. Ford service stated that my CDF failed in my 10r80 transmission and that, that particular failure was a common one. Ford refuses to acknowledge this failure.
APMI failure, compromises the ability to connect handheld device to vehicle for safety while on the road and ability to keep hands an eyes where the product designs them to be by disabling many safety features with voice, and navigation.
Complete loss of front brakes I would’ve crashed my car if there was any traffic coming through the intersection. I’ve ran through two red lights and almost rear-ended somebody. Ford has already done a recall on my vehicle for this issue, but somehow my Vin number was not included. My issue is identical to the issue described below in the recall that was issued https://www.torquenews.com/3769/ford-recalls-300k-f-150s-navigators-expeditions-fix-brake-cylinder-problem
I bought vehicle at almost 60,000 miles and 8 to 9000 miles later engine is misfiring. Vehicle has been in should previous year and I got it back this June(24) for 2 days and back in shop only to find that ford had work on cyclometer before and refuse to let that be know when it was in shop the first time from same noise and complaint. The dealer recommendation is for a new motor in which cost $12000 more on top of what I owe on truck and ford is refusing to fix the problems stating it’s out of warranty but they previously worked on vehicle. This vehicle had currently 70,000 miles on it and it should not be up for a new motor and I’ve only experienced this vehicle for 9 to 10,000 miles. Seems as if this was a patch up job on a lemon to be sold off and transferring responsibility of repairs to buyer. This is not right and I’m at a standstill on decision of how to proceed forward with situation.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was a rattling sound coming from the moon roof. On another occasion, while driving approximately 55 MPH, a metal piece of the track dislodged and landed in the driver's lap. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
On several occasions the truck engine started to sound noisy, metal clicking when running. l checked the oil and found it was down several quarts of oil. This has happened several times despite my checking. No leak. Usually down one quart but sometimes down 5 or 6 quarts. The engine doesn't start sometimes and has no power on other times. I brought it to a Ford dealer and told him that it was burning a lot of oil and he changed oil and filter, he replaced the air filter and spark plugs and checked the top of cylinders, he did an "induction service" and said to have it done again in 1,000 miles. Total cost $1,265.50. He also mentioned (not on the bill) that I may need a new engine. No sign of leaking and it looses oil faster than I can check.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated that an abnormal clicking sound was coming from the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that the steering wheel had become loosened while driving at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the plastic bearing behind the air bag in the steering column had fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Transmission sticks in 3rd gear then hard thump and jumps to 6th. Getting on highway trying to merge truck revs but doesnt accelerate then eventually locks up speed. Took to dealer several times and problem still is not fixed. They said that’s how it’s supposed to drive.
The contact owns a 2018 Ford F-150. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the vehicle was making an abnormal sound. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the cam phasers to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Began shifting hard/sticking. Took to dealer in May 2023, said it was fixed. Same day issue still happening. Took back to dealer, again said it was fixed. Not even 5 miles and same issue. Again back to the dealer, kept truck for about 7 weeks and told me it was fixed, still having the same issue. Ford has not out a recap but mechanics from dealer are telling people that is “normal”. I highly doubt whole trying to merge onto a highway and you try to accelerate and truck does not pickup but stays in 3rd gear is normal. I almost got rear ended. This is a huge safety issue and as I did some research I see I am not the only one. As there is a class action lawsuit against ford for this exact reason.
the lug nuts "expand" after time or exposed to water after time, requiring replacement of lug nuts
While driving, received alert that the brake fluid level was low. After further review and adding brake fluid, it appears to have the same symptoms of Safety Recall 20S31 where brake fluid is leaking from the master cylinder into the brake booster but no physical evidence of a leak within the system The brake system would have basically failed with potential risks of an accident which would cause injury due to failure from being able to stop. Fortunately I parked the vehicle immediately. Ford does not recognize my truck as part of this recall but it has the same similar issues as the recall states.
During steady state low-load extended drive on freeway, engine pushed out oil dipstick and all oil out of dipstick tube with no warning. Engine rattled then seized while on the highway, requiring a tow. There were no warnings prior to the "low oil pressure" light that preceded the engine stopping.
Plastic connector that connects the stainless steel fuel line to a plastic fuel line failed while I was driving. Fuel was sprayed over the undercarriage and exhaust system. The truck came to a stop on the road when I slowed down but continued to leak fuel. Approximately 15 gallons of fuel was lost. There were no warnings other than the smell of gasoline. I will be taking the vehicle along with the failed connector which I removed to the dealership on Tuesday,
