I REPLACED THE REAR BRAKES ON MY 1995 FORD F250. I PUT ON NEW DURALAST BRAKE SHOES (PART #358) FROM AUTOZONE. AFTERWARDS, THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE FAILED. I TOOK EVERYTHING APART AND TOOK A WHILE BEFORE I FOUND THE PROBLEM. AT THE TOP OF THE BRAKE SHOES THERE IS A HALF CIRCLE WHERE THE FRONT AND BACK SHOE MEETS AND THAT IS WHERE THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE CAM PUSHES THE SHOES APART. THE OEM SHOES HAVE A TALL SHOULDER AT THE VERY TIP TOP WHERE THE CAM PUSHES AGAINST THE REAR SHOE, THE DURALAST SHOE HAS A SHORTER SHOULDER AND ALLOWED THE CAM TO SLIP OVER THE TOP OF THE REAR SHOE CAUSING THE UNEXPECTED EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE FAILURE. *DT
1995 FORD F250. CONSUMER STATES ENGINE STALL WHILE DRIVING. *TGW WHEN THE ENGINE STALLED, THE CONSUMER HAD TO PUT THE SHIFTER INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE WOULD RESTART. HE ALSO, STATED THE FUEL/WATER SEPARATOR WAS REPLACED. ALSO, OTHER REPAIRS INCLUDED, NEW HOSES, FAN CLUTCH, IDLER WHEEL, BRAKE PADS, RELAY ON GLOW PLUG, V-BELT, SEVERAL BATTERIES, THE LIFT PUMP AND THE SOLENOID ON THE STARTER. JB ALSO, THE O-RINGS WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 12/31/12 THE DEALER FOUND PROBLEMS WITH THE ICP INJECTOR PRESS, EBA EXH BACK PRESS, MAP, MANIFOLD AND ABS. UPDATED 03/14/13. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F250. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND THE HOOD, FENDER WALLS AND WIRES WERE DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO WAIT UNTIL THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT CONTACTED HIM BEFORE ANY REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. DROVE TRUCK INTO THE GARAGE, BRAKES WORKED FINE. NEXT DAY STARTED ENGINE AND NOTICED THAT BRAKE WARNNG LIGHT DID NOT GO OFF. WHEN BACKING OUT OF GARAGE, NOTICED THAT I HAD ONLY ABOUT 10% OF NORMAL BRAKING POWER. BROUGHT TRUCK TO A SLOW STOP AND CALLED LOCAL DEALER. TRUCK WAS TOWED IN. DEALER REPLACED A VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY, FORD PART F4TZ-2A451-A . PART COST $308.55, LABOR $101.99. HAD THIS TRUCK BEEN IN ITS NORMAL SERVICE, TOWING A 9,000 POUND TRAVEL TRAILER THE RESULTS MIGHT HAVE BEEN TRAGIC. I CONSIDER THIS A MAJOR DESIGN DEFECT. A BRAKE PART SHOULD NOT GO FROM 100% EFFECTIVE TO 10% WITH NO WARNING. DT
VACUUM PUMP FAILED 1ST TIME APRX 1000 MILES, FORD REPLACED, FAILED 2ND TIME APRX 50K MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY, FAILED 3RD TIME, APRX 67K MILES, FORD REPLACED, FAILED 4TH TIME 87K MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY. EACH TIME BRAKES BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO APPLY AND VEHICLE BECAME HAZARDOUS TO OPERATE, ALSO WHEN PUMP FAILED 3RD TIME, SERPENTINE BELT WAS DESTROYED AND POWER STEERING WAS ALSO LOST, COMPOUNDING THE SAFETY ISSUE.*AK

BOTH FRONT ROTORS CRACKED IN TWO / THREE PLACES, CAUSING NOISE. REPLACEMENTS WERE DONE. THE REAR DRUM & BRAKE SHOES WERE REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE. *
BOTH FRONT ROTORS ARE CRACKED ONLY ON THE OUTER FACE, IT IS A SINGLE CRACK ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE FACE AND FORD IS REFUSEING TO TAKE CARE OF THIS UNDER WARRENTY
UPON STEEPING ON BRAKE PEDAL, IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHICH INDICATES BRAKE PROBLEMS. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK

BOTH BRAKE ROTORS CRACKED ON TWO SEPARATE ACCASIONS . FORD REPLACED THE FIRST BAD SET UNDER WARRANTY, BUT WONT ADMIT THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG & WONT REPLACE THEM AGAIN.I'VE ALSO GOT AN EXHAUST LEAK THAT THEY TEMPERARILY FIXED UNDER WARANTY.
