I WAS TOLD BY LOCAL DEALER THE EXAHUST MANIFOLDS WERE NOT COVERED UNDER WARNTY. WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME REPORTING THE PROBLEM THEY SAID THE PINGING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WAS NOT A PROBLEM. NOW WEVE HAD TO PAY A $1100 REPAIR WITH LESS THAN 36,000 MILES OF USE.
TWO OF THE FIRESTONE (STEELTEX RADIAL LT 235/85R16 M/S) TIRES ON THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. *MJS
AFTER BOTH HUBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, THERE IS STILL A CLICKING IN THE FRONT WHICH OCCURS DURING BACKING THAT HAS YET TO BE CORRECTED.
PUT IN 4WD HAD TO CALL A WRECKER BECAUSE THE AUTOMATIC LOCKING HUBS WOULD NOT ENGAGE.
BUSHING ON BELT TENSIONER ON 7.3 LITER DIESEL ENGINE FAILS - KNOWN DEFECT BY FORD PERSONELL. *MJS
THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD AREA. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK. THE DEALER REPLACED BOTH EXHAUST MANIFOLDS, Y PIPE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHICH CAUSED THE OVERHEATING.*JB
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS (RIGHT AND LEFT) WERE FOUND TO BE CRACKED DURING 60,000 MILE SERVICE. NO MECHANICAL SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM MANIFESTED THEMSELVES PRIOR TO THE FINDING OF THE DAMAGE DURING 60,000 MILE SERVICE.
BEARING FAILED ON BELT TENSIONER CAUSING ME TO LOSE THE SERPENTINE BELT WHICH CONTROLS POWER STEERING,COOLING,CHARGING,AND BASICALLY EVERYTHING.ENGINE DID OVERHEAT,BUT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO CLOSE TO AN EXIT IN WEST VIRGINIA.AFTER I TALKED TO SOME PEOPLE I FOUND THAT AT LEAST 6 OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS.I CONTACTED FORD BUT THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THESE PROBLEMS.TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS WAS 131.00 WHICH PORT CITY REFUNDED ME.
PE00-040; ORIGINAL TIRE ON FORD, 1996, F250, LT235/85R16 M/S. PASSENGER'S REAR SIDE TIRE TREAD CAME OFF AT 45 MPH. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE, INCIDENT TOOK PLACE IN ALASKA.*AK
VEHICLE SHAKES VIOLENTLY ON THE HIGHWAY, AND REPAIRS WERE DONE BECAUSE BOLTS WERE LOOSE AND MISSING ON THE FRONT AXLES. AXLE PIVOT BRACKET. DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TAKING VEHICLE IN FOR BRAKE REPAIRS WHEN DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT BOTH FRONT DRUMS WERE CRACKED. IT WAS DUE TO VEHICLE TRAVELING OVER THE MOUNTAINS. BUT YET THE CONSUMER SUPPOSE TO HAVE HEAVY- DUTY TRAILER TOW PACKAGE. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS NOT A NORMAL WEAR. CONDITION NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO. *AK
WHILE LOOKING TIRES OVER, NOTICED CRACKS ON TREAD. CONSUMER REPLACED TIRES . *AK TIRES WERE FIRESTONE STEELTEX P235/85R16. *SLC
RIM IS MADE OF ALUMINUM, AND WHEEL IS MADE OF STEEL. THESE DIFFERENT METALS CAUSE THE TWO COMPONENTS TO WELD TOGETHER, AND A HAMMER NEEDS TO BE USED TO SEPARATE THEM. *AK CONSUMER HAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO ALSO HAD TOUSE A DEAD BLOW HAMMER TO POUND THEM APART, HOWEVER DEALER DID NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. *SLC
WHEN THE TENSIONER WAS LOST, I LOST POWERSTEERING, BRAKES ETC. I WAS NEGOTIATING A TURN WITH A TRAILER ATTACHED AND LOST SUBSTANTIAL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT DID NOT KNOW OF A RECALL ETC. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN.

CONSUMER BELIEVES AUTOMATIC LOCKING HUBS WERE INCORRECTLY DESIGNED DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH HUBS BEING NOISY AND NOT LOCKING FROM A PARKED POSITION. ALSO, 4WD TO FAIL ON WET GRASS/SLIGHT INCLINE, BOTH HUBS REPLACED.
TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE 1-2 SHIFT GETS TO BE VERY MUSHY, PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY HEAT BUILDUP DURING TOWING DUE TO A TOO SMALL FACTORY TRANSMISSION COOLER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LEAKS OIL AND IS HARD TO SHIFT. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED THE COMPUTER BOX, AND TOLD THE OWNER THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REBUILT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE FUEL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE FUEL TO LEAK OUT. IF A SOURCE OF IGNITION OCCURRED IT MAYHAVE STARTED A FIRE. PROBLEM REOCCURRING. DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND ALL FUEL LINES. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS. *AK
SERPENTINE BELT TENSIONER FAILURE DUE TO PREMATURELY WORN BUSHING. PROBLEM IS WELL KNOWN AMONG DEALERSHIP MECHANICS. THIS PART CONTROLS THE TENSION ON THE SINGLE SERPENTINE BELT WHICH OPERATES THE POWER STEERING PUMP (MAY RESULT IN LOSS OF ABILITY TO STEER UPON FAILURE), THE AC COMPRESSOR, THE WATER PUMP (MAY CAUSE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT UPON FAILURE) AND THE ALTERNATOR FOR THE VEHICLE'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. *AK
IN COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ENGAGE INTO AUTOMATIC FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE. WHEN THE WHEEL BEARING GREASE HEATS UP, IT FLOW IN TO AUTOMATI LOCKING, CAUSE UNKNOWN. *AK.ET.
4-WHEEL DRIVE LOCKING HUBS BROKE.
TRANSMISSION SLOW TO SHIFT INTO GEAR. WOULD SHAKE & SHIMMY WHEN SHIFTING INTO 3RD GEAR. FEELS LOOSE WHEN STOPPING & GOING AT LOW SPEED, CAN FEEL THE LOOSENESS. *AK
REAR BRAKES LOCKED UP; CAUSE: LEFT REAR BRAKE CABLE BINDED, NOT ALLOWING REAR BRAKE SHOES TO RETURN FULLY TO ANCHOR PINS. AFTER PARKING BRAKES WERE APPLIED, VEHICLE DRIFTED TO LEFT, COULD HAVE CAUSED CRASH. DEALER WILL REROUTE PARKING BRAKE CABLE, INSTALL WINDLECE ON LEFT REAR SPRING BRACKET TO PREVENT CHAFING.
LOOSE FRONT SUSPENSION BOLTS, CAUSING CLUNKING NOISE IN FRONT END WHEN TURNING. *AK
TIRED TO STOP VEHICLE IN RAIN AT 40 MPH, ABS BRAKES LOCKED UP, VEHICLE SKIDDED, RESULTING IN A COLLISION. *AK
PE00 020; CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH ON HIGHWAY AND FELT VIBRATION INSIDE VEHICLE. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, AND NOTICED THAT RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED. FIRESTONE, STEELTEX, #R4S 2358516. HE HAS CONTACTED FIRESTONE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES.*AK
FIRST TIRE FAILURE THE TRUCK WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OLD AND HAD ABOUT 4000 MILES. I WAS DOING ABOUT 60 MPH ON I75 WHEN THE TIRE BLEW. I CALLED THE FORD SERVICE NUMBER AND A SERVICE VEHICLE CAME AND PUT MY SPARE TIRE ON. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE FIRESTONE DEALER AT DADELAND IN MIAMI. THERE THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE I HAD DRIVEN ON IT. MY COMPLAINT WAS THAT NO OTHER RECORD WAS MADE OF THE EARLY TIRE FAILURE.*AK (DOT NUMBER: 20891UR TIRESIZE: LT235/85R1)
DRIVER'S FRONT AND REAR SEAT BELTS ARE NOT LATCHING PROPERLY. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND UNWILLING TO ASSIST BECAUSE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVER UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL, AND OUT OF ITS WARRANTY. PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SHORT SHAFT (PITMAN ARM) CAME OUT OF STEERING WHEEL AND BROKE. HAD LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE . TOOK TO DEALER & INFORMED NOT REPAIRING IT BECAUSE OF MISUSE OF VEHICLE. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THE FACTORY INSTALLED WIRING HARNESS WHICH IS COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FUSE BOX BEGAN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHICH WAS CAUSING THE TURN SIGNAL AND BRAKE LIGHTS TO BE INOPERATIVE.*JB
STEERING SECTOR SHAFT FAILED, CAUSING NOISE WHILE TURNING CORNERS.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING BOX TOTALLY FAILED, COULD NOT STEER VEHICLE, STEERING BOX REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP, PROBLEM HAS NOT REOCCURRED, SPEED 25 MPH. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 60MPH THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT, CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE NOTICE IN TIME. *AK
CENTER CROSS MEMBER DEFECTIVE.
LEFT AND RIGHT DOOR PILLAR CRACKED 3 TIMES.

WHEN THE STREETS ARE SLICK AND WET OR ON GRAVEL UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES THE FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP AND DRIVER HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE ABS ONLY APPLIES TO THE REAR BRAKES. *AK WHILE DRIVING ON WET ROADS, CONSUMER TOUCHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STEER OR STOP, CONSUMER STATED ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE FRONT WHEELS LOCKED UP, CONSUMER WAS NOTIFIED THAT VEHICLE ONLY CAME EQUIPPED WITH REAR ABS, TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN ACCIDENT. *SLC

VEHICLE HAS HAD CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH SUSPENSION/ALIGNMENT, REPAIRS SEVERAL TIMES AND STILL EXPERIENCES PROBLEMS. MJS
ALIGNMENT CANNOT CORRECTED. VEHICLE HAS HAD 6 ALIGNMENTS.
WHEN MAKING A TURN AND UPON ACCELERATION, THE CONSUMER HEARD A CLICKING SOUND IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. *AK
PE96-052 ACTIVE, SUSPENSION FAILURE, FRONT BEGAN UNBOLTING AND CAME LOOSE WHILE DRIVING, IN FOR REPAIR, WILL PROVIDE VOUCHER FOR THE REPAIR. *AK

BRAKES/ROTORS: THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE CRACKING WHICH IS CAUSING THE FRONT BRAKES TO LOCK UP. THREE SETS OF BRAKES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE IN 1996. *AK
ABS-WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED ON A SLIPPERY SURFACE THE REAR BRAKES DO NOT LOCK. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK
