WHY IS THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALLED ONLY FOR F-150 PICKUP TRUCKS WHILE THE SAME SWITCH IS IN THE F-250 AND F-350 TRUCKS AS WELL? *AK
THE BRAKE LINE BROKE WHERE IT IS RETAINED BY A CLIP. NO PREVIOUS ROUGH DRIVING OR ABUSE.*AK
NATURAL GAS VEHICLE. CLAMP IN ENGINE WAS RUBBING ONTO FLEXIBLE HOSE THAT WAS HOOKED TO FUEL INJECTORS ,CAUSING A HOLE IN FLEXIBLE HOSE, EMITTING NATURAL GAS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
NATURAL GAS VEHICLE. CLAMP IN THE ENGINE WAS RUBBING ONTO FLEXIBLE HOSE THAT WAS HOOKED TO FUEL INJECTORS, CAUSING A HOLE IN FLEXIBLE HOSE, AND EMITTING NATURAL GAS. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
THERE ARE CRACKS FORMING ON THE REAR PILLAR OF BOTH DOORS OUT FROM THE WEATHER STRIPPING AND ONTO THE FLAT SURFACES OF THE DOORS. *AK
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE REAR BACK TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM VEHICLE. *AK
STRONG ODOR OF DIESEL WAS IN VEHICLE. DIESEL WAS FLOATING AROUND IN ENGINE. DIESEL HAND WAS GOING DOWN. *AK
DRIVER'S DOOR HAS A CRACK RIGHT BELOW WINDOW, VERTICAL ABOUT 1/2 INCH LONG. *AK
THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUMPED IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. THE RADIATOR FAILED 3 TIMES AND THE HEATER CORE FAILED. *TS *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH WHILE STILL INFLATED. ON A 1997 FORD F250, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT, TIRE SIZE LT235/85R16, DOT# VD0CIX1J337. FIRESTONE NOTIFIED. TIRES ARE STEEL TEX R4S. *MR *JG
THE RADIATOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIME DUE TO LEAKAGE. THE HEATER CORE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO LEAKAGE. *TS *NLM
THE WINDSHIELD WASHER OPERATED SPONTANEOUSLY WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON, COMPLETELY OBSCURING FORWARD VISION IN THE FIRST INCIDENT. IN THE THREE SUBSEQUENT INCIDENTS BOTH THE WASHERS AND WIPERS OPERATED SPONTANEOUSLY WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON BUT VISIBILITY WAS OK BECAUSE THE WIPERS CLEARD THE WASHER FLUID AWAY.
PE00 020; FIRESTONE TIRE TREAD STARTED SEPARATING . FIRESTONE, STEELTEX AT, LT23585R16MS, DOT VN0R1XK. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES SIDEWALLS HAVE SHOWN EXCESSIVE WEAR OVER THE PAST 15000 MILES, A MASTER MECHANIC STATED THE TIRES WERE OKAY TO DRIVE ON, HOWEVER WHEN SPEAKING WITH SERVICE REPS FROM FORD, THEY STATE THE TIRES SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED, AS THEY WOULD NOT DRIVE WITH THEM ON. *SLC
CAN'T GET DOT NUMBER, NOTHING LEFT OF THAT PART OF TIRE BUT ROPES AND FIBERS. NO WARNING, NO NOISE TO INDICATE A BLOWOUT, JUST SUDDEN LOSS OF CONTROL AS THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE FELL APART. TREAD AND BELTS ALL COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER, SIDEWALLS SHREDDED. LOOKS LIKE THE TIRE PERFORATED AROUND ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE AT THE "BEADING". NOTHING LEFT OF SIDEWALLS EXCEPT "ROPES" CONNECTING INNER RIM TO TREAD SURFACE, CAN SEE ALL INDIVIDUAL LAYERS OF TREAD, BELTS AND FIBER SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER. FATHER STATES IT TOOK EVERY BIT OF STRENGTH (AND PAST RACING EXPERIENCE OF SEVERAL DECADES AGO) TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND KEEP IT FROM ROLLING. I AM KEEPING THIS TIRE IN CASE ANYONE WANTS TO INSPECT IT, IT LOOKS STRIKINGLY SIMILAR TO THE ONES INVOLVED IN RECALL WHEN THEY FAILED. FATHER HAS NEVER FELT ANYTHING LIKE THIS WHEN IT WENT, INCLUDING WHEN RACING. HAVE NEVER SEEN A TIRE LOOK LIKE THIS AFTER A BLOWOUT. THE TREAD AND BELTS HAVE COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM EACH OTHER, ALL THE WAY AROUND! IT LOOKS LIKE IT JUST FELL APART. THIS IS A DANGEROUS TIRE.*AK (DOT NUMBER: SHREDDED TIRESIZE: LT23585R16)
VERY INTERMITTENT INCIDENTS OF FALSE ABS CYCLES WHEN BRAKING TO A STOP FROM A LOW SPEED. THIS SEVERELY EXTENDS THE STOPPING DISTANCE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A COLLISION INTO STOPPED VEHICLES. MOST OF THE INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED ON DRY PAVEMENT. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON DURING THE INCIDENTS. THIS SAME PROBLEM IS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA ITEM NUMBERS SB604767 AND SB606515. WILL BE TAKING TO FORD DEALER, BUT IT WILL BE HIGHLY UNLIKELY THAT THEY WILL BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
REAR SLIDING WINDOW LEAKS WHEN RAINING OR WASHING VEHICLE.*JB
WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TURNING WHEN RIGHT REAR AXLE SLID OUT, VEHICLE STOPPED. AXLE WAS SITTING OUT FROM UNDER VEHICLE. CONTACTED A TOW COMPANYAND HELPED PUSH AXLE BACK IN, AND PLACED ON FLATBED. TOW DRIVER INDICATED POSSIBLE SHEAR PIN CAME OFF OR BROKE. *AK
STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME VERY LOOSE, WILL NO LONGER TILT UPWARD, FEELS LIKE IT WILL COME OFF, DEALER SAID VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. *AK
ALL FOUR OF BRIDGESTONE TIRES ON 1997, FORD, F250HD ARE SHOWING EXCESSIVE TREAD WEAR. THESE TIRES ARE NOT ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT THAT CAME WITH VEHICLE, AND CURRENTLY HAVE 29,000 MILES ON THEM. SIZE OF THE TIRES L235/85R16. *AK *JB

FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED BECAUSE WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH VEHICLE STALLED UNDERNEATH A RAILROAD TRACK. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR HIM. *AK THE DEALER REPLACED SELECTOR SWITCH TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CUSTOMER NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BUT HE IS EXPREINCING A SELETCTOR SWITCH PROBLEM.( THE RECALL WAS ON FORD F150 1989 NOT ON F250). *YH
THE TIRE BLEW OUT AND THE BLOW OUT WAS LOCATED AT THE INSIDE SIDEWALL, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO HOLES THAT COULD BE FOUND. WE BROUGHT THE TIRE INTO FIRESTONE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD FIND A HOLE BECAUSE THESE TIRES DON'T JUST BLOW. I WAS ALSO TOLD ON THE PHONE THAT I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I HAD SUCH A HEAVY DUTY VEHICLE, OTHERWISE THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE ROLLED. JUST APPALLING TO HEAR SOMETHING LIKE THAT FROM A PERSON THAT WORKS AT THE FIRESTONE STORE. ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THERE IS RECALLS HAPPENING NOW. WHILE DRIVING A 1997, FORD, F250 CARGO VAN WITH A REPLACEMENT FIRESTONE, STEEL TEX RADIAL FRONT PASSENGER TIRE, 22575R16. TIRE SUDDENLY SEPARATED. THERE WERE THREE TIRES LEFT ON THIS VAN. FIRESTONE HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK THE CUSTOMER FEELS UNSAFE DRIVING WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. *YH
THE LEFT FRONT TIRE STARTED SHOWING A SPOT WHERE THERE SEEMS TO BE A BLISTER (AIR POCKET) UNDER THE TREAD ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. THE TREAD CAN BE PUSHED IN ABOUT AN 1/8 OF AN INCH. ALSO THE CENTER OF THE TIRE ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TREAD SHOWS A DARKER COLOR THAN THE REST OF THE RUBBER.( DOT NUMBER: VDOR1XK TIRE SIZE: LT235/85 R )

MY TIRES WERE SEVERELY WORN ON THE INSIDE EDGES. I BOUGHT NEW TIRES AND WENT TO HAVE THE TRUCK ALIGNED. VIRGINIA SPRING AND ALIGNMENT, ARLINGTON, VA, 22213, INFORMED ME THAT MY RIGHT FRONT SPRING WAS DANGEROUSLY WEAK AND HAD CAUSED THE UPPER BALL JOINT TO BECOME LOOSE. THEY SAID EVERY FORD 250 DIESEL THEY SEE HAS THIS PROBLEM AND THAT FORD DID NOT PUT STRONG ENOUGH SPRINGS ON THESE TRUCKS. FORD IN FACT HAD ISSUED TSB-96-23-16 WHICH CALLED FOR ADDING A LEAF TO EACH FRONT SPRING AND REALIGNMENT. THEY REFUSE TO FIX THE DEFECT IN MY TRUCK BECAUSE IT HAS OVER 36,000 MILES ON IT. IF THIS SPRING FAILS, A 3/4 TON TRUCK GOES OUT OF CONTROL. *AK

WINDSHIELD WIPERS WORK SPORADICALLY. SOMETIMES THEY COME ON WITHOUT APPLICATION, AND OTHER TIMES THEY CUT OFF WITHOUT APPLICATION. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE SWITCH BEFORE, BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.*AK
TREAD SEPERATED FROM LEFT REAR TIRE WHILE TRAVELING @ 75 MPH ON I-10 BETWEEN QUEEN CREEK & RIGGS ROAD EXITS. THE TIRE DID NOT LOOSE PRESSURE. ON CLOSER INSPECTION OF REMAINING THREE TIRES, EVIDENCE OF TREAD COMING APART. FORD DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR TIRE WARRENTY. DAMAGE TO WHEEL WELL AND TRUCK BED CAUSED BY THE SEPERATED TIRE TREAD. TIRES ARE ORGINAL TIRES ON TRUCK WHEN BOUGHT FROM DEALER. ALL TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED, STILL HAVE ALL ORGINAL TIRES FOR INSPECTION. WHILE NOT FIRESTONES SOUND LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: LT235/85RX )
STRUCTURE OF THE BODY HAD A CRACK. CRACK IS STARTED AT THE WINDOW OPENING, AND WAS WORKING ITS WAY REARWARD. ALSO, NOTICED WHEN WASHING VEHICLE PAINT WAS CHIPPING BECAUSE THE CRACK BEHIND THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR POST WAS GETTING BIGGER. *AK
WHILE INDICATING THAT AUTOMATIC TRANSMSSION WAS IN "PARK" POSITION, IN FACT TRANSMISSION GEAR WAS IN "NUETRAL POSITION" WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED A ROLLAWAY. MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 97V17000 ALTHOUGH IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
BOTH THESE RETAINING BOLTS FAILED. IN THE FIRST INSTANCE I NOTICED A BOLT HANGING DOWN FROM THE FRONT END ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. IN THE SECOND INSTANCE, THE SHOP OWNER NOTICED THE DRIVER'S SIDE BOLT WAS MISSING. HE COMMENTED THAT HE LOOKS FOR THIS ITEM ON FORD F150 AND F250 UNITS. HE HAS HAD VEHICLES COME IN WITH BOTH BOLTS MISSING! FORD CHANGED THE BOLT MECHANISM RETAINING THE STABALIZER BARS IN THIS MODEL YEAR (1998). THEIR DESIGN APPEARS FAULTY AS THE PLASTIC RETAINING DEVICES ON THE BOLT DO NOT APPEAR TO WORK PROPERLY.*AK
MIRROR ON PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR OPERATES ERRATICALLY, IT IS DIFFICULT TO JUDGE DISTANCE WHEN IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO SEE OUTSIDE OF REAR VIEW MIRROR. * AK
ORIGINAL AND AFTER MARKET EQUIPMENT ON A 1997, FORD, F250, LT235/85R16 SIZE. TREAD ON ONE TIRE SEPARATED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AND TWO OF TIRES HAD BLOWNOUT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, CAUSING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. THIS TRUCK LOOKS BRAND NEW,HAS NOT BEEN ABUSED,MAN THAT FIXED IT SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ONE DO THIS UNLESS THE TRUCK WAS BEAT ALL TO PIECES,AND THIS ONE ISNT, HE FIGURES IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE TORQUE CONVERTER. *AK
FIRST AIR SPRING ON DRIVERS SIDE BLEW LAST SUMMER AND WAS REPLACED. THE OTHER ONE, PASSENGER SIDE, BLEW LAST FRIDAY. BOTH FAILURES OCCURRED WITH TRUCK CAMPER ON BOARD, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT OVER LOADED. FAILURES WERE EXPLOSIVE, RESULTING IN VEHICLE LOWING SUDDENLY ON THE SIDE AFFECTED. VEHICLE WAS TRAVELLING STRAIGHT AHEAD BOTH TIMES, BUT FAILURE ON A CORNER COULD RESULT IN VEHICLE ROLLING OVER. COMPONENT DOES NOT APPEAR TO MATCH THE LOAD RATING OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
I HEARD A LOUD VIBRATING OR THUMPING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. STOPPED AT A FIRESTONE IN SANTA FE, WHERE THEY SHOWED ME THAT LAYERS OF THREE OF THE TIRES WERE PEELING OFF FROM THE INSIDE. I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES ON THE SPOT -- AT JUST 26,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. (TIRESIZE: LT245/75R)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: LT245/75R )
TORSION BAR FAILURE, CAUSED SUDDEN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. *AK
TORSION BAR SNAPPED WITH NO WARNING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, YET WAS NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY FOR TOWING AND RENTAL CAR WHILE MY TRUCK WAS DISABLED. I THINK FORD SHOULD COVER THIS REPAIR AS THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE. *AK
WHEN DRIVING STEERING WAS NOT RESPONSIVE. HAD A LOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, FRONT END FELT LIKE WAS NOT ROLLING FREELY, AND NO ADEQUATE STEERING CONTROL. CONTACTED DEALER AND MANUFACTUR. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT TO ALIGN THE FRONT END. *AK
