WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER NOTICED VEHICLE PULLLING TO THE LEFT, CAUSING POOR STEERING CONTROL, AND RESULTING IN SEVERAL NEAR CRASHES. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER HAS MADE REPAIRS, BUTPROBLEM STILL OCCURS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER BRAKE FAILED WHEN APPLIED. CONSUMEER TRIED TO AVOID HITTING VEHICLE IN FRONT AND HIT A POLE. THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGES AND THE SEAT BELT DID NOT RESTRAIN DRIVER AND KILL SWITH FAILED. YH
SEVERE STEERING VIBRATION ON BRAKING. REPORTED TO DEALER 4 TIMES. FIRST TIME, TURNED ROTORS. SECOND TIME, REPLACED ROTORS. THIRD TIME, DEGLAZED ROTORS. FOURTH TIME, NO ACTION. TOLD IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM AND WOULD MEET WITH FORD FACTORY REP. STILL WAITING.
WHILE TRAVELING 50 MPH, AND AS A RESULT OF MAKING A SUDDEN STOP, CONSUMER EXPERIENCED LOSS OF STEERING. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND REFUSES TO WORK ON THIS UNTIL FORD AUTORIZES. *AK.ET.
FRONT HUB WOULD NOT HOLD VACUUM CAUSING 4 WHEEL DRIVE NOT TO ENGAGE EVEN THOUGH THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED. THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK TO LOOSE CONTROL AND HIT A TREE. NLM
SEAT IN EXTENDED CAB HAS NO PADDING ,ONLY A VINYL COVER, CAUSING INJUIRES TO PASSENGERS. FORD HAS UPDATED SEAT, WHICH NOW NOW HAS FULL PADDED BACK ON NEWER MODELS. BUT WILL NOT MODIFY OLDER MODELS. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED IN A PANIC PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS INSPECTED AND REPAIRED VEHICLE. *AK
RECALL # 99V311000 FORD/FMVSS 301; VEHICLE CRASH: CUT OFF SYSTEM. DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A HOLE UNDERNEATH, THEY WILL NOT CORRECT. BUT OWNER WILL BE GIVEN CORDS TO FIX IF FRAMES CHANGE. *AK *ML
HIT OBJECT IN THE ROAD, PUNCTURING THE GAS TANK WHICH HAD NO PROTECTIVE COVERING. CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THIS COVERING SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT, NOT JUST AN OPTION. *AK *ML
DOOR SENSORS AND WARNING CHIME KEEP INDICTATING DOORS ARE AJAR EVEN WITH ALL DOORS SHUT. ALSO, INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL COME ON BY THEMSELVES.. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE CAUSE , BUT HAS REPLACED SENSORS, HOWEVER, PROBLEM KEEPS REOCCURRING. *AK
WHEN TOWING TRAILER AND OR WHEN CARRYING WEIGHT IN THE REAR OF THE BOX, UPON HITTING A LARGE BUMP OR A SMALLER ROLLER TYPE BUMP THE TRUCK SWERVES LEFT AND RIGHT AND THE STEERING SEEMS TO PULL SOMEWHAT. THE SERVICING LOCAL DELER SAID THERE IS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR THE F-250, ONLY FOR THE F-350 AND UP . THEY SAID THEY CAN NOT ORDER THE PARTS TO FIX MINE BECAUSE FORD HAS NOT GIVEN APPROVAL FOR THIS. THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM FORD CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM , I BELIEVE IS TSB99-8-2. *AK
REARVIEW EXTERIOR MIRRORS EXTEND OUT TOO FAR, ALLOWING OTHER VEHICLES AND PEDESTRIANS TO COME IN CONTACT WHEN VEHICLE IS PASSING. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE, AND CAN REPLACE THE MIRRORS. *AK
CONSUMER HAD LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE AND RAN OFF ROAD, HTTING TWO TREES HEAD-ON. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND SEATBELT CAME LOOSE, CAUSING INJURIES, AND $11,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. BODY SHOP THAT REPAIRED VEHICLE COULD NOT FIND AIRBAG SENSORS, AND FELT THAT THEY WERE MISSING, THAT THEY WERE NEVER INSTALLED AT FACTORY. *AK
THE O-RING INJECTORS ARE PREMATURELY BREAKING, CAUSING ENGINE TO RUN OUT OF OIL, AND RESULTING IN ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUTTING DOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
DEALER UNABLE TO PERFORM RECALL REPAIR 99S32 OF THE FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY BECAUSE WHERE IS A FIFTH WHEEL IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. NLM
99 FORD 250 SUPER DUTY CANNOT ADJUST CAMBER/CASTER WITHOUT CHANGING THE BUSHINGS. THE ALIGNMENT COMPUTER SHOWS "VALUE IS NOT WITHIN SPECIFICATION. TIRE WEAR, HANDLING AND SAFETY PROBLEMS MAY RESULT." FORD WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF THIS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT ADJUSTABLE UNLESS A KIT IS ADDED AT MY EXPENSE. FORD CLAIMS IT IS A WEAR ITEM AND IS NOT COVERED. IF THIS PIECE WEARS OUT IN 14,157 MILES, FORD HAS A SAFETY PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE COMPUTER. THE TRUCK HAS PULLED TO THE RIGHT SINCE IT WAS NEW. EVIDENTLY THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. SINCE KITS ARE AVAILABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ( IF CAUGHT WITHIN 12,500). THEY ARE SHIPPED WITH NON-ADJUSTABLE KITS, THAT ARE LOCKED IN AND CANNOT BE ADJUSTED. *AK
REAR WHEELS CANNOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT GETTING UNDERNEATH VEHICLE AND POUNDING ON IT. OWNER FOUND THE PROBLEM AND IT IS UNRELATED TO THE VEHICLE, REQUESTS THAT COMPLAINT BE WITHDRAWN. *AK *ML
THE ROTORS WARP AT 12000 TO 14000 MILE INCREMENTS. THE DEALER WILL ONLY TURN THE ROTORS AND NOT REPLACE THEM TILL THE MINIMUM TOLERANCE IS REACHED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE NEW HEAVIER ROTORS, BUT FORD REFUSES TO REPLACE ROTORS INPICK-UPS SOLD PRIOR TO MAR 99., THIS IS A ENGINEERED SAFETY DEFECT AND I WANT SOME TYPE OF PERMANENT FIX. WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED IN A PANIC STOP, PEDAL FADES, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS REPLACED BRAKE SYSTEM. *AK
UPON STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT AND THEN PULLING OUT TRANSMISSION SOUNDED LIKE GRAVEL WAS IN IT. THE SOUND WENT AWAY. LATER WHEN THE REVERSE GEAR WAS NEEDED, GEAR DID NOT WORK. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
EVERY 3,000 MILES BRAKES WILL PULSATE DUE TO WARPING OF THE ROTORS, CAUSING WEAR ON BRAKE PADS AND SHOES.*AK
WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT HAND TURN FRONT END MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED THE DEALER, DEALER HAS REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS FRONT SPRING, ISOLATORS, FRONT SHOCKS , SWAY BAR, BUSHINGS AND BOLT JOINT. *AK
I JUST HAVE A QUESTION AND THIS MAY NOT BE WHERE I NEED TO BE BUT IF NOT COULD YOU DIRECT ME IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION? I PURCHASED A USED PICK UP FROM RAINIER NISSAN BUT NOT AT THEIR SITE IN CENTRAILIA. THEY CAME TO YAKIMA FOR A 3 OR 4 DAY SALE. I PURSHASED A 3/4 TON PICK UP. I DIDN'T NOTICE TIL LATER THAT THERE WAS NO SPARE TIRE OR SPARE TIRE RACK. THEY WERE BOTH GONE ALONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL PLUG IN. ONE OF THE GUYS I DEALT WITH SENT ANOTHER GUY OUT TO CHECK THAT IT HAD A SPARE AND A JACK AND HE DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING TO THE CONTRARY WHEN HE RETURNED. WHAT ARE MY RIGHTS? I TALKED TO A TIRE DEALER AND HE SAID THEY ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO PROVIDE A SPARE TIRE AND JACK ON A 3/4 TON OR MORE. ANY INFO OR DIRECTION WOULD BE HELPFUL. THANK YOU, THERESA RANDALL. *AK
FROM 12000MILES WE REPORTED TO FORD DEALERSHIP THAT THE TRUCK IS UNSTABLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IF ANY ROAD IS SLIGHTLY UNLEVEL THE TRUCK BEGINS TO TRAVEL FROM LANE TO LANE ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY AND RANDOMLY. THE TRUCK HAS 25000 MILES AND SIX WEEKS AGO I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL ON A SLIGHT CURVE IN THE ROAD GOING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 THE TRUCK BEHAVED AS IF IT WERE ON ICE!!! I'M A COMMERCIAL DRIVER AND WAS ABLE TO REACT TO THIS SURPRISE. I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING THE FIRESTONE RECALL AND WAS SHOCKED TO FIND OUT THAT ALL FOUR TIRES WITH BETWEEN 40 TO 60 PERCENT TREAD REMAINING ARE SEPARATING. I VALIDATED THIS AT A FIRESTONE DEALERSHIP YESTERDAY AND THEY CLAIM THESE TIRES ARE NOT IN THE RECALL. THE UNSTABLE RIDE IS TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE, IF YOU APPLY THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN THE CONDITION ESPECIALLY AT 60-65MPH BECOMES TRECHEROUS. THIS HEAVY AND OTHERWISE ROAD STEADY TRUCK MOVES LIKE A BASKETBALL. LETTING OFF THE FUEL PEDDLE WORKS BEST. THE DEALERSHIP PEOPLE HAVE NOT HELPED AT ALL. THEY SUGGEST WE ARE MAKING UP THE PROBLEM. AS YOU LOOK AT THE CENTER TREAD AREA OF THE TIRES IT APPEARS TO BE WEAK AND UNEVEN TO THE TOUCH. THE FIRESTONE REP. SUGGESTED A WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHER REASONS BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN TIRES WITH SEPARATIONS BETWEEN THE TREADS AS ARE NOW FORMING ON ALL FOUR TIRES. I HAVE NEVER USED THE SPARE. I'M PROBABLY GOING TO PURCHASE MICHELIN TIRES VERY SOON. THE FIRESTONE REP WANTS NEARLY $400 TO REPLACE WITH OTHER FIRESTONE TIRES. I'D RATHER SPEND $600 AND WAIT FOR ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR YOUR AGENCY, FIRESTONE OR FORD. I CONCEDE THAT THERE MAY BE MORE GOING ON WITH THE TRUCK BUT I DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM BEFORE 12000 MILES. FORD IS WILLING TO REALLIGN THE FRONT END AND IF I AGREE THIS WILL BE THE 4TH TIME IN THIS FEW MILEAGE. I CLOSE BY STATING THAT THIS IS A SHOW VEHICLE AND I CARRY NO TOOLS OR OTHER WEIGHT IN THE TRUCK AND BASICALLY PUT HIGHWAY AND LOCAL ROAD MILEAGE ONLY.( DOT NUMBER: 008061 TIRE SIZE: LT265R16 )

I WOULD NOT HAVE CONSIDERED CONTACT HAD NOT THE OTHER FIRESTONE TIRES SHOWN A PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE CAME WITH THE FIRESTONE STEELTEX R4S TIRES. I CHANGED THEM AFTER ABOUT 18000 MILES BECAUSE THEY WERE SO SCARY ON WET PAVEMENT OR SNOW. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN TOLD FIRESTONE USED TOO HARD A COMPOUND IN ORDER TO GET EXTRA MILEAGE. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH MY FORD AGENCY AND NOTICED THE MODEL TYPE FOR THAT TIRE IS NO LONGER THE R4S. NO DAMAGE OR INJURY RESULTED ALTHOUGH SEVERAL AMUSEMENT PARK RIDES RESULTED, EACH OCCURING WITH DIFFERENT DRIVERS.
I BROUGHT A USED F-250 4X4 WITH ABS . THE FIST WEEK USING IT, FAILURE IN STOPPING WAS NOTED. I RETURNED THE CAR , AND THE DELER IS CHECKING IT. I AM VERY CONCERN ABOUT THIS MATTER, FOR MY SAFETY AND OTHERS. I AM REQUESTING HELP, THIS IS NORMAL. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 98 CHEV SUBURBAN. RIGHT HAND EXTERIOR MIRROR HAS A REGULAR MIRROR. IT DOES NOT HAVE A WIDE ANGLE MIRROR ON IT. IT LIMITS VISION WHEN CHECKING TRAFFIC, BACKING UP OR EVEN CHANGING LANES. THE DEPTH PERCEPTION IS NOT WHAT IT SHOULD BE.*AK
