8-5-00 HAD TO BUY A REPLACEMENT TIRE ON THE LEFT FRONT OF TRUCK. THERE WAS A LARGE SIZE BUBBLE ON THE OUTSIDE OF TIRES SIDEWALL. ON 9-1-00 HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER TIRE REPLACED ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE DUE TO LARGE BUBBLE ON THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. 9-6-00 WENT TO PIONEER FORD AND HAD SERVICE MANAGER (MARK ELFRING) LOOK AT TIRES AND HE STATED THAT I HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ON MORE OF THE TIRES. CONTACTED MANUFACTURER AND THEY ARE WILLING TO ONLY PRO RATE TIRES AND WE DO NOT WANT TO PUT MORE OF GENERAL TIRES ON OUR VEHICLE. 2 SEPARATE TIRE DEALERS (DISCOUNT TIRES) EMPLOYEES HAVE STATED TO US THAT THESE TIRES HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALL OF THE TIME AND THEY SEE THEM COMING IN LIKE TRUCK LOADS. WE WERE ALSO TOLD BY THE MECHANIC AT PIONEER FORD ON 9-6-00 THAT HE ALSO SEES THIS PROBLEM AND RECOGNIZES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: LT235/85R- )
TRUCK PULLS UNCONTROLLABLY TO LEFT , WORSE UNDER HEAVY BRAKING, FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NO ANSWERS YET TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, BRAKES STOP WORKING IF YOU HIT A LARGE BUMP IN THE ROAD WHILE BRAKING. *AK

WHEN APPLYING BRAKES HARD, THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TWICE, DEALER SAID IT MET SPECIFICATIONS. *AK CONSUMER STATES STEERING IS GETTING HARDER TO STEER. *SLC
WHEN INSPECTING TIRES CONSUMER NOTICED A LARGE BULGE ON SIDEWALL OF TIRE. TIRE WAS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON FORD, F350, 2000 . THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT THE CONSUMER'S COST. *AK
VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN TRAFFIC AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS IN FRONT, AND CONSUMER PULLED OFF ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, AND THE OTHER VEHICLE TRIED TO MAKE A U-TURN, AND HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE BROADSIDE. FRONT END WAS SMASHED, AND DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DIDN'T GO OFF . ALSO, ABS BRAKES DIDN'T KICK IN AT ALL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY SIDE WALL ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. *AK AFTER THE SERVICE MAN POINTED OUT THAT THE LOUD NOISE THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCED WAS COMING FROM THE TIRES, ALL TIRES WERE REPLACED AND THE NOISE STOPPED. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES. FIRESTONE TIRE SXAT,265/75R16 AND DOT NO. VNW81XL469. *YH
PE00 020; WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND HEARD A NOISE. HE WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, REAR PASSENGER TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. HE HAS CONTACTED FIRESTONE FIRESTONE #STEAL TEX,#R4 LT265R1575. *AK
VEHICLE JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND ROLLED BACK. CONSUMER WAS NOT PARKED ON AN INCLINE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
VEHICLE STALLS. TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER SHIFTS IN A MANNER THAT IT CUTS OUT TRANSMISSION FLOW WHICH CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SHUTDOWN. FORD DOESN'T HAVE THE FILTERS AVAILABLE. DEALERS HAD TO DRILL HOLES ON THE SIDE TO ALLOW OIL TO FLOW. FORD AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, TSB ISSUED, BUT MODIFIED FILTERS STILL NOT AVAILABLE. *AK *ML
THERE IS A LOUD POPPING SOUND FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE, AND SOMETIMES FROM FRONT, THEN BACK. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER 7 TIMES, COULD NOT FIND CAUSE. *AK THE MANUFACTURER POINTED OUT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEMON. *YH
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STOP, FRONT END HAS A DEFINITE SHAKE. TIRES WEARING UNEVEN AT 1500 MILES. CONCERNED FRONT END SHAKE WILL PROGRESSIVELY GET WORSE AND BECOME A SAFETRY PROBLEM ON THE ROAD. *AK
I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE A SHORT TIME AND THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED A BINDING IN THE REAR WHEN TURNING AND THE GAS MILEAGE STARTED TO DECREASE THE TRASSFER CASE WAS NOISY IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAREND AND THEY ORDERED PARTS IT TOOK 8 DAYS TO GET MY TRUCK BACK WHEN I PICKED IT UP IT STILL HAD ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS AND AT THAT TIME I TOOK A MECHANIS FOR A RIDE HE NOTICED THE SAME THINGS THAT I DID AT THAT TIME I WAS ASKED TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK ON MONDAY AT WHICH I DID THEN THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THE PROBLEMS WHERE NOT THERE I ALSO HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THE REAR DIFF SEAL LEAKING THEY REPLACED THE SEAL AND CALLED ME TO COME AND PICK IT UP AT WHICTCK TIME I ASKED ABOUT THE NOISE THAT WAS IN THE DRIVE LINE HE TOLD ME THAT HE DROVE THE TRUCK SEVERAL MILES AND HE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE TRUCK WAS READY FOR PICK-UP I STATED THAT I WOULD NOT PICK UP THE TRUCK UNTILL I TALKED TO A REP AND HE TOLD ME THAT I COULD NOT TALK TO ONE AT THAT I ENDED THE PHONE CALL I CALLED HIS BOSS AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM HE STATED HE WOULD LOOK INTO IT THE FIRST SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME BACK AT WHITCH TIME HE TOLD ME THAT HE DROVE ONE WITH A GAS THAT HAD 700 MILES ON IT AND IT DID NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS DEFF I TALKED TO HIM TODAY AND AT THIS TIME THEY CAN NOT FIND EXACTUALLY WHERE THE NOIS IS BUT IT IS IN THE DRIVE LINE
SINCE CONSUMER FIRST OWNED VEHICLE STEERING HAS BEEN DIFFICULT TO CONTROL DURING WARM OR HOT WEATHER CONDITIONS. STEERING BECOMES MORE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN TURNING AND BRAKING AT SAME TIME. AT SOME POINTS, CONSUMER LOSES CONTROL OF POWER ASSISTED STEERING WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT SAME TIME. THIS PROBLEM COULD BE RELATED TO POWER STEERING PUMP. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *AK
POWER STEERING LOCKS UP WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. DEALER FIRST SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR VEHICLE. FORD LATER ADMITTED POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES WERE LINKED TO SAME BOOSTER. WHEN APPLYING BRAKE IT TAKES AWAY FROM POWER STEERING AND IT LOCKS UP. THERE IS NO REMEDY AT THIS TIME. *AK
5TH WHEEL HITCH MECHANISM WAS PUT IN INCORRECTLY, AND INSULATION OF THE HITCH/ THE BOLTS AND BRACKETS WERE ALSO INCORRECT. HITCH HAD TO HAVE TWO BOLTS FOR EACH BRACKET. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM . MANUFACTURER IS FOLSON FOLSON LAKE RV. CHARLES LANGDON 11373 FOLSON RANCHO CORDOVA CA 95742 916 635 4545. *AK THE DEALER INSTALLED THE HITCH INCORRECTLY. *YH
WHEN MAKING A SLOW TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION POWER STEERING LOCKS UP. THIS ALSO AFFECTS BRAKES. *AK
DATES ARE NOT CORRECT AS I DO NOT HAVE INFORMATION IN FRONT. MAJOR BRAKE ISSUES, TRANSMISSION SHIFTING ISSUES AND TURBO IS NOW LEAKING OIL AGAIN. LOTS OF INTERMITTENT ISSUES THAT NO ONE CAN DUPLICATE. UNSURE WHAT TO DO. *AK
EXCESSIVE SMOKE COMES OUT OF THE TAILPIPE DURING COLD STARTS. *SLC
HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE RUBBED AGAINST FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SHOCK BRACKET WHICH CAUSED A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK. COULD HAVE ULTIMATELY RESULTED IN THE FAILURE OF THE HYDRO-BOOST PUMP WHICH WOULD HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. AFTER MUCH DELAY, PART WAS REPLACED. *AK *ML
CONSUMER STATES INOPERATIVE TAIL LIGHT CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO REAR END HIS VEHICLE. DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*JB
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH AND TO KEEP VEHICLE IN STRAIGHT DIRECTION, CONSUMER HAS SWUNG STEERING WHEEL FROM SIDE TO SIDE. *AK
AT SLOW SPEED AND STOPED, THE STEERING WHEEL CAN NOT TURN WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER HAS NOT PROVIDED ANY ASSISTANCE. *AK
CONSUMER IS CALLING TO REPORT THAT FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHAKES OUT OF CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY ON A WEEKLY BASIS WHENEVER DRIVEN OVER A BUMPS. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED FOR PROBLEM, BUT IS UNABLE TO LOCATE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
CONSUMER DROVE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN, AND NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A KNOT ON THE RIGHT TIRE. THE TIRE WAS SENT TO CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA, AND MANUFACTURER WAS SUPPOSE TO SENT HIM A REPLACEMENT TIRE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 50 MPH CONSUMER NEEDED TO KEEP ROCKING THE STEERING WHEEL SIDE TO SIDE TO KEEP CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *AK
UNABLE TO ACCESS EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL FROM DRIVERS SEAT, NOT ENOUGH ROOM TO ACCESS. YH
ON 1/28/2000, THE OPERATOR OF THIS VEHICLE PARKED IT OUTSIDE A BUSINESS AND PUT THE TRUCK IN LOW GEAR, APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND EXITED AND LOCKED THE VEHICLE. IT WAS PARKED ON A SMALL DOWNWARD SLOPE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AND CROSSED 2 LANES OF TRAFFIC, MADE A SHARP LEFT HAND TURNED, LOOPED AROUND AND RAN THROUGH A WALL OF A BUSINESS. THE OWNER OF THIS BUSINESS WAS PRESENT AND WITNESSED THE INCIDENT AND WHEN OUR DRIVER CAME OUT OF THE BUILDING HE WAS IN, THE PROPERTY OWNER AND OUR DRIVER AND ANOTHER WITNESS WALKED TO THE TRUCK AND WATCHED WHILE OUR DRIVER UNLOCKED THE VEHICLE AT WHICH TIME IT BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS. FOUR PEOPLE WITNESSED THAT THE TRUCK WAS TURNED OFF AND ALSO WITNESSED THE TRUCK BEING UNLOCKED BY OUR OPERATOR AND VERIFIED THE TRUCK WAS IN LOW GEAR AND THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED. WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF OTHER SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED AS WE HAVE 2 ADDITIONAL F350'S (A 1999 AND ANOTHER 2000) IN WHICH CASE THE OPERATORS HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR BRAKING PROBLEMS ALTHOUGH ACCIDENTS HAVEN'T OCCURED IN THE OTHER TWO. I WILL ALSO REPORT THOSE SEPARATELY AS COMPLAINTS. COULD YOU ESTIMATE A TIME FRAME FOR INVESTIGATING THIS COMPLAINT? THANK YOU, TAMMY GILES/OFFICE MANAGER. *AK
WHEN THE TRUCK IS PLACED UNDER HARD BRAKING CONDITIONS, IT LOSES POWER STEERING AND BECOMES VERY HARD TO STEER AND CONTROL. THIS IS VERY EVIDENT WHEN HAULING CARGO OR PULLING A TRAILER. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY TWO FORD DEALERS, BUT FORD WILL NOT AUTHORIZE ANY REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY SAY THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION. I DON'T KNOW IF MY TRUCK IS BAD OR IF ALL F-350 HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE LOSS OF STEERING WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT VERY SOON. THE ONLY REASON A PERSON WOULD BY A TRUCK OF THIS SIZE IS TO HAUL CARGO OR PULL TRAILERS. LIKE I SAID, FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED BY TWO DEALERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, BUT THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX IT. THANKS. *AK
I HAVE HAD ONGOING TIRE PROBLEMS SINCE THIS TRUCK WAS NEW. I HAVE HAD CASING SEPARATIONS IN FOUR OF THE SIX TIRES INSTALLED ON THE DUAL WHEEL TRUCK, BOTH FRONT AND REAR. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE BEEN TO TWO LOCAL DEALERSHIPS. I HAVE ALSO MADE NUMEROUS CALLS TO GENERAL TIRE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I TALKED TO FIVE SEPARATE REPRESENTATIVES. ALL TO NO AVAIL. ONE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY WERE "NOT IN THE TIRE BUSINESS" -- "HAVE A NICE DAY" -- "GOOD BYE". ANOTHER FORD DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN WAITING FOR THREE WEEKS FOR AN EAMIL FROM "CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS". I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE HOPING I WILL JUST GIVE UP OR CRASH AND BURN -- WHICHEVER COME FIRST. GENERAL TIRE HAS AGREED TO GIVE ME A SMALL CREDIT TOWARD THE PURCHASE OF REPLACEMENT TIRES OR REPLACE THEM WITH THE SAME GENERAL TIRE JUNK THAT I HAVE NOW. NEIGHER OF WHICH IS SATISFACTORY OR FAIR. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE HURT BY THEIR FAILURE TO RESPOND TO THIS PROBLEM OR EVEN TAKE THE TIME TO QUESTION ME AS TO WHEN, WHERE, OR HOW MY TIRE FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED. ABS BRAKING SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN DRIVER HAD FOOT ON BRAKE, STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN AND LOCKED UP. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED ABOUT PROBLEM. FORD ENGINEERS WERE CONTACTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. FORD ENGINEERS STATED THAT THIS WAS A DESIGN PROBLEM, AND WOULD TAKE A YEAR TO CORRECT. *AK *ML
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, VEHICLE STARTED MAKING LOUD NOISES. ALSO, STEERING GOT HARD TO TURN, AND HAD NO BRAKES. PULLED OVER AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. STARTED IT BACK UP AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. ANOTHER TIME WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE, WENT TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT, AND VEHICLE WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION INTO THE DITCH. HAD NO POWER BRAKES OR STEERING. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WHILE DOING A 360 DEGREE SPIN. PASSENGER WAS HOLDING GRAB HANDLE ON PILLAR AND DRIVERS ARM. DOOR SNAPPED FORWARD AND JAMMED INTO RIGHT FENDER. BOTH HINGES MAY BE CRACKED. DEALER`S RESPONSE WAS FOR ME TO REPORT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY THAT I HAD AN ACCIDENT. WE STRUCK NOTHING AT ALL. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE NO RESPONSABILITY TO REPAIR ANYTHING. WE FEEL THAT A DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FAILED UNDER NORMAL USE THERE WAS NO IMPACT WITH ANYTHING. *AK
TRANSMISSION DID NOT HOLD UP AND KEPT BREAKING DOWN. TRANSMISSION BROKE DOWN THE FIRST TIME AT 27,000 MILES. SECOND TIME ON JAN 20, 2000. ENTIRE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED BOTH TIMES. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, TRUCK BROKE DOWN AGAIN. TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITH 40,000 MILES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
TRUCK ROLLED WHILE IGNITION WAS OFF, TRUCK WAS IN GEAR AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED. *AK
BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION CONSUMER TRIED TO BRAKE AND APPLIED GAS PEDAL INSTEAD. *AK

WHILE BRAKING STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
CLUTCH ASSEMBLY SPRINGS SEPARATED FROM THE CLUTCH ON THREE OCCASIONS. DEALER REPAIRED VEHICLE THREE TIMES IN THREE WEEKS. MANUFACTURER WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK
INTERMITTENTLY WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE PEDAL IS NORMAL, BUT VEHICLE EXPERIENCES EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
POWER STEERING CUTS OUT WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING SLOWLY AND BRAKES ARE APPLIED. FORD DEALED SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THIS CONDITION AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. THIS DEFECT POSSIBLY AFFECTS 1999 MODEL YEAR. SERVICE MANAGER ENCOURAGED ME TO COMPLAIN TO NHTSA. HE SAID THAT IF ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAINED, THEN FORD WOULD HAVE TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS DEFECT. *AK
