I GOT INTO MY CAR THIS MORNING, AND MY DASH ILLUMINATED THAT A DOOR WAS OPEN. THE LED DISPLAY STATED THAT MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR WAS AJAR. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND SURE ENOUGH, MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPENED. I TRIED TO CLOSE IT, BUT THE DOOR WOULD SIMPLY BOUNCE OFF THE METAL FRAME, NEVER CLOSING. I SEAT BELTED THE DOOR CLOSED AND CAREFULLY, AND SLOWLY DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP. I HAD NOT OPENED THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR THE PREVIOUS DAY. THE DOOR WOULD DRIFT OPEN WHILE DRIVING, SO I HAD TO KEEP A FIRM HOLD ON THE SEATBELT TO KEEP IT FROM FLYING OPEN. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE PART WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I HAD TO MISS WORK TODAY AS MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP ALL DAY. I WORK AN HOUR AWAY AND HAVE TO TRAVEL VIA HIGHWAY. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY SAFETY AS WELL AS THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS AROUND ME. *TR
DRIVER SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING TODAY. IT CAN'T CLOSE SHUT AND CAN'T LOCK. HAD TO SECURE MOVING STRAPS TO BOTH REAR SEAT ARMRESTS TO KEEP DOOR FROM OPENING. AFTER THE SEAT BELT RECALL, TRANSMISSION SEAL RECALL AND THIS, WHAT NEXT? I COMMUTE OVER 100 MILES DAILY I DON'T FEEL SAFE. *TR
MY FORD FIESTAS TRANSMISSION IS OFFICIALLY BROKE. THE CAR'S TRANNIE WAS OFFICIALLY LOOKED AT BY THREE TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS, ALL BAFFLED TO WHY THIS CAR IS DEALING WITH THIS WITH SUCH FEW MILES. I'VE TALKED WITH NUMEROUS REPRESENTATIVES OF FORD, WHO'VE ASSURED ME THAT BAD THINGS JUST HAPPEN AND THERE'S NOTHING THEY WILL DO. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. *TR
PASSENGER REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. DOOR JUST BOUNCES BACK WHEN SLAMMED SHUT. THE LATCH MECHANISM HAS FAILED IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE DOOR WILL NOT SHUT AND IS CURRENTLY TIED BACK FROM THE INSIDE. THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE. . AS I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AWAY THE BACK REAR PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG OPEN. THE DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED AT ALL AND THE ENTIRE LATCH SYSTEM ON THAT DOOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I WAS UNLOADING STUFF FROM MY CAR AND SHUT THE DOOR WHEN IT RE OPENED , THERE WAS ANOTHER INCIDENT WHERE ANOTHER DOOR DID THE SAME THING ! I CURRENTLY HAVE TWO NON WORKING DOORS ON MY VEHICLE AND BOTH DOORS BROKE WITHIN A MONTH. *TR
REAR DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED.... DON'T KNOW HOW THE NHTSI CAN LET THIS HAPPEN. WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALER ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES MENTIONED THAT THEY GET THIS COMPLAINT AT LEAST THREE OR FOUR TIMES A DAY. LOOKING THROUGH THE COMPLAINT BOARD I SEE IT COMES UP FREQUENTLY!! PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER AND WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PLASTIC ON THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FRACTURED AND THE DOORS COULD NOT BE CLOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DOORS WERE TIED TOGETHER WITH A ROPE IN ORDER TO KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FOR BOTH REAR DOORS WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR LATCH SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. DROVE CAR IN THE MORNING AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH THAT, OR ANY OTHER, DOOR. AFTER RETURNING HOME FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS, HAD TO MAKE ANOTHER TRIP WITH A PASSENGER. AS WE WERE PULLING OUT FROM MY DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED A WARNING IN THE MESSAGE CONSOLE SAYING THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS AJAR. SURE ENOUGH, A SIMPLE PUSH OF THE DOOR OPENED IT WIDE. AFTER SOME TINKERING, WE NOTICED THE DOOR LATCH WAS NOT ACTUALLY LOCKING INTO PLACE. THE MECHANISM MOVED AS IT SHOULD, BUT WOULDN'T LOCK AND STAY IN PLACE UNTIL HANDLE WAS PULLED. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE, AS A FIVE MINUTE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS WITH PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSAFE. FORD NEEDS TO FIX THIS DEFECT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! UPDATED 12/11/14 *BF
WHEN LEAVING WORK, I WENT TO PLACE SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT OF MY VEHICLE (DRIVER'S SIDE) AND THEN PROCEEDED TO CLOSE THE DOOR. THE DOOR BOUNCED BACK AND WOULD NOT LATCH TO THE CAR. AFTER TESTING LOCKS AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM, IT APPEARED THE LATCH ON THE DOOR WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. A ROPE WAS TIED FROM THE INSIDE HANDLE TO A SEAT IN MY CAR TO PREVENT IT FROM OPENING WHEN I DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FIESTA. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MERGED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED THAT THE LATCH WOULD NOT CONNECT TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THE CONTACT TIED SOME MATERIAL AROUND THE INTERIOR LATCH TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD FIESTA ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. IT HAD 11,000 MILES ON IT AT THAT TIME. IN THE PAST YEAR THE DRIVERS DOOR CATCH AND THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR CATCH HAVE FAILED. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVERS DOOR CATCH AND WE ARE NOW WAITING FOR PARTS FOR THE REAR DOOR CATCH. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT BOTH TIMES THE FAILURE OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT MOVING. HOWEVER IF THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN MOVING ( I COMMUTE 40 MILES PER DAY) OR I HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN A COLLISION AND THE DOOR LATCH FAILED IT COULD BE A VERY DIFFERENT STORY. MY GRAND KIDS RIDE IN THIS CAR AND NOW I AM AFRAID TO TAKE THEM IN IT FOR FEAR ANOTHER LATCH MAY FAIL WITH THEM IN THE CAR. THESE LATCHES ARE MADE OF SOME KIND OF PLASTIC, HOW CAN THIS BE SAFE? I LIVE IN THE PHOENIX AREA AND THE VERY HOT SUMMERS HERE DESTROY PLASTIC. THESE PLASTIC DOOR CATCHES ARE UNSAFE. THE DOOR CATCH IS CURRENTLY ON BACKORDER, SO I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR. THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE, CAUSING THE DOOR TO REMAIN OPEN. FORTUNATELY IT HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED, BECAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE HAPPENED OTHERWISE. *TR
I PURCHASED A FORD FIESTA 2011 IN JULY 2014. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS I NOTICED PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR JERKING AND HESITATING AND LURCHING FORWARD BUT AS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON, I ASSUMED IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH WAS LATER REPLACED IN SEP 2014. STILL, THE GRINDING NOISE, JERKS AND HESITATION CONTINUED. I TRAVEL ON THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY WHICH IS ALWAYS HEAVILY CONGESTED DURING PEAK HOURS AND THE CAR JERKING FORWARD PUT ME AT RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT. ALSO, THE BRAKES SOMETIMES ACTED TOO SLOW BUT I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS A RESULT OF THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES OR NOT. IT WASN'T UNTIL EARLIER LAST MONTH THAT I READ ABOUT THE INHERENT DESIGN FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION. CURRENTLY, MY CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPAIRS TO THE TRANSMISSION.
I PLACED MY GRANDSON HIS CAR SEAT ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE AND TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH CLOSED. WE TRIED AND TRIED TO GET IT CLOSED AS WE WERE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CITY AND NEEDED TO GET HOME. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. WE HAD TO HAVE SOMEONE COME BRING US A STRAP TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED IN ORDER TO GET HOME THAT NIGHT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR CONCERN WITH THE FORD FIESTA AND THAT THE PART WAS NATIONALLY BACK-ORDERED. I DROVE MY CAR HOME WITH THE DOOR STRAPPED CLOSED AND HAD IT LOOKED AT IN MY HOMETOWN. THE PART WAS STILL NATIONALLY BACK-ORDERED. I AM STILL WAITING ON MY CAR TO BE FIXED. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT AND SHOULD BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR CAME OPEN WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN, DOOR HAD CHILD SAFETY LOCK ENGAGED. MY DAUGHTER (5 YEAR OLD) WAS IN HER CAR SEAT ON THE REAR LEFT BEHIND DRIVER. I PULLED OVER AND DOOR WILL NO STAY LACHED (CLOSED) I HAD TO USE A STRAP FROM DOOR HANDLE TO DOOR HANDLE TO KEEP CLOSED. MY 5 YEAR OLD HAD HER SEAT BELT ON. THANK GOD I DON'T HAVE AN ISSUE WITH HER AND HER SEAT BELT. BUT I KNOW SOME KIDS TEND TO REMOVE THE SEAT BELT. *TR
AFTER LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE WITH MY 5-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, I SECURED MY CHILD IN HER SEAT AND BUCKLED HER THEN CLOSED THE DOOR. AS WE WERE DRIVING THROUGH THE PARKING LOT I MADE A TURN AND HER DOOR FLEW OPEN AND HER TOY AND DRINK FELL OUT OF THE CAR. I STOPPED THE CAR TO INVESTIGATE AND THE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER LATCH AND COULD NOT BE SECURED CLOSED. THANK GOODNESS FOR SEAT-BELTS AND THAT NO PEDESTRIANS WERE NEARBY TO BE HIT BY THE FLYING DOOR OR WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD BE DONE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER FORD DRIVERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND AM STUNNED THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL. THE CAR IS ABSOLUTELY UN-DRIVABLE AND UNSAFE DUE TO A FAULTY PART. *TR
SUMMARY: REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH MALFUNCTIONED AND NO LONGER LOCKS, LEAVING THE DOOR AJAR. DETAILS: UPON CLOSING THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR, THE DOOR BOUNCED BACK OPEN AND FAILED TO LATCH. AFTER CLOSER INSPECTION, VARIOUS ATTEMPTED REMEDIES, AND FURTHER RESEARCH, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DOOR LATCH HAD FAILED. THE DOOR HAS TEMPORARILY BEEN HELD SHUT FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE BY USING A RATCHETING STRAP. THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT IS ON, WHICH ALSO KEEPS THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON AT ALL TIMES DURING DRIVING. I HAVE ORDERED A NEW DOOR LATCH AND WILL BE REPLACING IT AT SIGNIFICANT COST TO ME. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON ON AUGUST 21, 2014 WHEN MY CAR SEEMED TO LOSE THROTTLE. I HAD NOTICED IT WAS SLUGGISH TO PICK UP SPEED AROUND 5 MILES BEFORE. IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THE CAR LOST THROTTLE, AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AN AUDIBLE ALERT WAS MADE, AND THEN MOST OF THE SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. I MANAGED TO PULL THE CAR OVER IN ABOUT 30 SECONDS, AND ONCE I WAS PARKED I COULD SEE FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE HOOD. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AT THAT POINT, GOT OUT, AND CALLED 911. UNFORTUNATELY THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGAGED BY THE TIME THE FIRE CREW ARRIVED. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH AND WHEN SHE SLOWED DOWN FOR SLOWER TRAFFIC AND THE CAR STOPPED. THE MOTOR SHUTOFF AND COASTED TO A STOP (SHE SAID IT JOLTED TO A STOP IN ABOUT 20 FEET). THE TRAFFIC WAS VERY HEAVY SO SHE TRIED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BUT COULDN'T MAKE IT, SHE TURNED ON HER HAZARDS AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND TRIED TO RESTART (DIDN'T RESTART) THEN PUT IT INTO PARK TO RESTART (DIDN'T RESTART) SO THEN TRIED TO TAKE IT OUT OF PARK TO MOVE THE CAR (PUSHING TO THE SHOULDER) BUT BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED THE CAR WOULDN'T COME OUT OF PARK. SHE EVEN TRIED TO RELEASE THE TRANSMISSION MANUALLY BUT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO POWER TO THE SOLENOIDS, IT WOULD NOT RELEASE AND SO LEFT THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY AND CALLED THE POLICE AND TOW TRUCK. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR A FLASH UPGRADE BUT STILL DOES THE STUMBLING AND HESITATION. THIS CAR HAS ALSO HAD THE WATER PUMP REPLACED AS WELL AS MINOR FIT AND FINISH *TR
THIS CAR HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT TROUBLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES FOR THE LAST TWO WEEKS. NOT TO MENTION IT WAS IN THE SHOP FOR TWO MONTHS AFTER ONLY HAVING IT FOR TEN DAYS. FORD HAD THE CLUTCH ON BACK ORDER AND IT TOOK ABOUT TWO MONTHS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. IT JERKS VICIOUSLY AND I HAVE TO FLOOR THE GAS TO GET UP A HILL. THERE ARE TIMES WHEN THE CAR STICKS IN GEAR AND WON'T SHIFT AND WHEN IT FINALLY DOES IT JERKS FORWARD AND I'M AFRAID I'M GOING TO REAR END SOMEONE. THE FORD TECHNICIAN IS TELLING ME HE CAN'T EXACTLY POINT OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND IS HAVING TO GET ASSISTANCE FROM OUTSIDE FIRST TECHS AND CORPORATE. IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS CAR INSTEAD OF JUST EXTENDING THE WARRANTY ON THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. *TR
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE .THE CLUTCH WHICH IS A AUTO SHIFT CLUTCH WOULD NOT DISENGAGE HAD TO PULL OVER BETWEEN ON RAMP AND FLOWING TRAFFIC. AND THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO NEAREST FORD SERVICE DEPT..CODES WERE SHIFT FORK POSITION CIRCUIT P2832 P2877CLUTCH B DISENGAGING SLOW AND SHIFT FORKA POSITION CIRCUIT RANGE/PERFORMANCE PERMANENT.THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS ISSUE I'M GLAD WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY DAUGHTER. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH SHUT. KEEPS POPPING OPEN. HAVE TO KEEP BACK DOORS SHUT WITH BUNGEE CORDS JUST TO DRIVE VEHICLE. HAVE BEEN WAITING SINCE AUGUST 2ND FOR A PART THAT IS APPARENTLY BACK ORDERED. WAS TOLD BY FORD IT WOULD BE HERE SEPTEMBER 11TH, BUT STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING YET. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING TO AND FROM WORK, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLS ON ME. IT STALLS EVEN IF I AM JUST WAITING ON A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. I HAVE BEEN ON THE HWY AND IT STALLS. I AM ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS. IT MAKES NOISE LIKE THE ENGINE WANTS TO FALL OFF. MY HUSBAND ALSO HAS A FORD FIESTA AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS TO HIM. THIS MORNING AT 6:00 AM AS I DROP MY SON OFF TO THE BABYSITTERS TO GO TO WORK IN MY BEAUTIFUL GREEN SES 2011 FIESTA. I SHUT MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR AND IT DIDN'T CLOSE? LUCKILY I HAD 2 BUNGIE CORDS TO HOLD IT CLOSED AS I DROVE TO A DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED.4 HOURS LATER AND A RENTAL CAR. BERGE FORD CALLS ME AND TELLS ME THE PART ISN'T IN TOWN(MESA AZ) AND ISN'T AVAILABLE ANY WHERE TILL AUGUST 25TH 2014 3.5 WEEKS AWAY AND NOW I HAVE NO CAR FOR 3.5 WEEKS. AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATE THAT THE REASON IT WILL TAKE SO LONG, IS BECAUSE THE PAST IS ON BACK ORDER.THEY STATE THAT THERE HAS BEEN MULTIPLE CAR'S THAT HAVE BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. MORE THEN TWO CARS A WEEK THEY ARE SEEING,BUT NO RECALL?THERE SOUND'S LIKE THERE'S A PROBLEM?! THERE'S NO WAY TO KEEP THE DOOR SHUT AND THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
WE WERE ENTERING VEHICLE READY TO LEAVE WHEN REAR BACK PASSENGER DOOR LATCH FAILED TO SECURE .UPON INVESTIGATION WE FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAFEY CONCERN.CONTACTED FORD TOLD NO RECALL THOUGH THEY DID ADMIT THEY HAVE RECEIVED SOME COMPLAINTS. UPDATED 4/24/2015 *JS
I OWN A 2011 FORD FIESTA. THE CAR HAS LEFT ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD 4 TIMES. 3 OUT OF THE 4 TIMES I BROKE DOWN I WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN NEW ORLEANS! NOT GOOD! I'VE MISSED WORK, MY SON HAS BEEN STRANDED, AND I JUST DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS CAR. IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES NOW AND THEY'VE WORKED ON IT 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME IT BROKE DOWN I BROUGHT IT TO FORD AND THEY KEPT IT FOR ONE DAY BUT THEY DIDN'T GET TO WORK ON IT BECAUSE I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTED, WHICH IS THROUGH NISSAN. THE 2ND TIME I WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH WENT OUT IN THE DUAL TRANSMISSION DUE TO TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING ON A COMPONENT IN THE CAR. THEY TOOK MY TRANSMISSION OUT, REPLACED THE CLUTCH, ACCIDENTALLY BUSTED OUT MY WINDSHIELD IN THE PROCESS, THEN GAVE THE CAR BACK. NOT TOO LONG AFTER I GOT IT BACK, IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN. THEY SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER THAT OPERATES THE TRANSMISSION. THEY DID UPDATES ON THE COMPUTER AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. THE VERY NEXT DAY IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN AND IS NOW SITTING BACK AT FORD IN SLIDELL. AT THIS POINT I DON'T EVEN THINK THEY KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH IT. I THEN FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD AND THEY SAY THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO? SO I'M JUST STUCK WITH THIS BROKEN CAR FROM FORD THAT IS ONLY A FEW YEARS OLD? A MONTH LATER, SAME ISSUE, TOOK IT BACK TO THEM, THEY REPLACED THE CONTROLLER MODULE AND PRONOUNCED IT FINE. THREE MONTHS LATER, SAME ISSUE. HAVE BEEN TOLD WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION BUT NOW THE FORD DEALERSHIP IT IS AT IN WESTON, WV, TOOTHMAN, IS NOT WANTING TO PERFORM THE RECALL, AND KEPT IT ON THEIR LOT FOR 1 MONTH BEFORE THEY EVEN PUT IT ON A RACK AND LOOKED AT IT. THEY CLAIM IT WAS DRY OF TRANSMISSION FLUID. THE DAY BEFORE LEAVING, OIL CHANGE WAS DONE AND FLUID LEVELS CHECKED. WHEN IT BROKE DOWN, MY DAUGHTER AND BOYFRIEND CHECKED THE FLUID FIRST THING AND IT HAD PLENTY. NOW, CAR IS STRANDED AND NO ONE IS WANTING TO HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. WHEN LEAVING THE GROCERY STORE, I NOTICED THAT THE INDICATOR SHOWED THAT THE REAR DRIVER DOOR SHOWED OPEN. WE TRIED CLOSING IT BUT IT WOULDN'T CLOSE. I DROVE HOME WHILE MY PASSENGER HELD THE BACK DOOR CLOSED. ON THE FOLLOWING MONDAY, I TOOK THE CAR IN TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER A FEW HOURS, THEY CONTACTED ME AND SAID THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER AND THAT IT WOULD BE IN AT THE END OF THE WEEK. I TALKED TO THE PERSON ON WED. AND THEY SAID THE PART WAS ON THE TRUCK AND WOULD BE THERE ON FRIDAY SO I MADE AN APPT. TO BRING MY CAR BACK TODAY. AFTER 5 HOURS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PART WAS ON BACKORDER UNTIL MID-AUGUST AND THAT 2 OTHER PEOPLE BROUGHT IN THE SAME CAR TODAY WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *JS
BACK PASSENGER DOOR LOCK SUDDENLY WOULD NOT CATCH. WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED 3 MONTHS AGO ALTHOUGH MILEAGE ONLY 28000. I TOOK IT TO 2 DEALERS. ONE TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN AT LEAST 70 CARS WITH THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY THAT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. AT THE OTHER DEALERSHIP THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT HE HAD ALREADY SEEN ABOUT 5 IN THE LAST MONTH, IN FACT THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE THERE THAT DAY WITH THE SAME ISSUE, ONLY IT WAS A DIFFERENT FORD MODEL. MY LATCH FAILURE WAS UNUSUAL BECAUSE IT FAILED AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. MOST ARE FAILING UNDER WARRANTY. ONE DEALERSHIP QUOTED ME $600 TO FIX. THE OTHER DEALERSHIP GAVE ME A BREAK SINCE THERE WAS SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND DISCOUNTED IT TO $100. I SUSPECT THAT THIS LOCK FAILURE IS HAPPENING TO TENS OF THOUSANDS OF CARS, BUT NHTSA IS NOT HEARING ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT IS HAPPENING UNDER WARRANTY. *TR

AFTER UNLOADING GROCERIES THE PASSENGER (RIGHT SIDE, RH) REAR DOOR WOULDN'T STAY SHUT. IT WOULD CLOSE ALL THE WAY, BUT THE LATCH MECHANISM WOULDN'T KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED. THIS IS A 4 DOOR CAR + HATCHBACK AND THIS IS THE DOOR WE USE THE LEAST. CALLED FORD ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER EVERYWHERE. THIS PART IS SPECIFIC TO THE FIESTA REAR DOOR, THE FRONT DOOR LATCH IS DIFFERENT AS ARE FOCUS DOOR LATCHES. I THINK THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM DUE TO THE DOOR NOT STAYING SHUT. FORD AND ERIE INS. MET IN MAY OF 2014 AND BOTH DECIDED THE PROBLEMS WERE RELATED TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES. THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED MY 2011 FORD FIESTA'S COMPUTER, WATER PUMP,REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED THE FLYWHEEL BETWEEN THE MOTOR AND THE TRANSMISSION,ENTIRE ENGINE (SHORT BLOCK AND HEADS WERE REPLACED, COILS, AND MANY OTHER ITEMS WERE REPLACED TRYING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM.THE TRANSMISSION ALLOWED THE CAR TO ROLL DOWN THE HILL BACKWARDS INSTEAD OF HOLDING THE CAR IN A STOPPED POSITION. I ASKED MY CAR INSURANCE COMPANY AND FORD MOTOR TO MEET AND HAVE THE CAR ASSESSED FOR MECHANIC FAILURES AFTER THE CRASH SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THAT FORD DID NOT WANT TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY DID NOT WANT TO OPEN THEMSELVES UP TO LIABILITY.. ERIE INSURANCE DID NOT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY INVESTIGATING THE CRASH, IT SHOULD BE FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO LOOK INTO THE CRASH. MY CAR HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND BEEN "REPAIRED" THREE TIMES. EACH TIME THE CAR MALFUNCTIONED, THE GAS PEDAL STOPPED WORKING AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW. THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHT SWITCHED FROM D TO P AND BACK AGAIN, OVER AND OVER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND LATER TURNED SOLIDLY ON. SINCE IT WAS JUST COASTING, I HAD TO PULL OVER THE CAR AND IN EACH CASE I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE IN AN AREA WITH A DECENT BREAKDOWN LANE. AT ONE POINT WHEN THE MECHANICS WERE PULLING THE VEHICLE INTO A BAY, IT STARTED DOING THIS AND THE REVERSE LIGHTS ALSO STARTED BLINKING. IN ADDITION, IT JERKED BACK INTO DRIVE, JUMPING FORWARD. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS CLOSE TO IT. SO FAR THE REPAIRS HAVE INCLUDED AN IGNITION COIL PACK, SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES, REPLACING TWO BOLTS AND REPROGRAMMING, AND REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF OVER $2,000. *TR

THE DEALERSHIP SENT ME ON MY WAY SAYING THAT THE PART WAS "ON BACK ORDER" AND I'D HAVE TO WAIT A MONTH, WITHOUT ANY HELP. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHO TOLD ME THAT I'D HAVE TO PAY $400 FOR THE REPAIR OR DEAL WITH IT. FOR A CAR RIGHT OUT OF WARRANTY BY MONTHS AND NOT MANY MILES, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR WOULD NOT START. LET SIT FOR 10 MINS OR SO, FINALLY GOT CAR STARTED, DROVE STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A MONTH FOR ONE AS THERE ARE 3000+ ON BACK ORDER. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AND I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THESE TRANSMISSIONS!!!! DEALER REPORTED THE LOCKING MECHANISM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE- CAR IS TOO UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND INSECURE BECAUSE IT CANNOT BE LOCKED. *TR
THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LATCH BROKE. WHEN I LOOKED AT IT, IT WOULD FLAP LOOSELY INSIDE ITS MECHANISM AND WOULD NOT SECURE THE DOOR TO THE BODY OF THE CAR. I HAD TO RATCHET STRAP THE DOORS TOGETHER TO KEEP THE BAD ONE CLOSED. NOW, SIX MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST LATCH BROKE, I REMOVED THE STRAP TO ACCESS THE REAR SEATS AND DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER-SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH HAD FAILED AS WELL. SAME BAND-AID FIX AS BEFORE, BUT IT'S A SAFETY/SECURITY ISSUE, AND THE STRAP IS STARTING TO PULL THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES/PANELS FROM THE DOORS THEMSELVES. IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THOSE FAIL AS WELL.
FROM THE BEGINNING IT HAS NEVER SHIFTED RIGHT OR SO I THINK. I EVEN PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT THE SHOP SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. WELL THE OTHER DAY IT WAS MAKING CRUNCHING NOISES SHIFTING GEARS AND IT TOOK SEVERAL HUNDRED RPMS TO GET THE CAR GOING. WENT TO PARTS STORE IN IT RUNNING LIKE THIS 10 MILES AWAY AND WHEN I CAME BACK AND PULLED INTO DRIVEWAY IT DIED AND HASN'T STARTED SINCE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AT AROUND 55 MPH WHEN THE CAR SHIFTED OUT OF DRIVE AND INTO NEUTRAL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK BUT IT WOULD NOT GO, KEPT GOING BACK AND FORTH INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. FINALLY GOT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN I TURNED ENGINE BACK ON, AND TRIED TO PUT IT IN GEAR, MADE A CLICKING NOISE AND WOULD NOT ENGAGE INTO A GEAR. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF WAITING, CAR FINALLY CLICKED INTO GEAR. TWO DAYS LATER MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR. SHE WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 25 MPH WHEN IT DID THE SAME THING, HOWEVER SHE WASN'T ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED WITH 2 KIDS IN THE CAR. I HAD TO GO PICK HER UP. THE CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING IT HAD TO ME 2 DAYS PRIOR, HOWEVER THIS TIME IT TOOK MUCH LONGER FOR A GEAR TO ENGAGE. I TOOK THE CAR DOWN TO AUTOZONE TO SEE IF ANY CODES APPEARED ON THEIR COMPUTER, BUT THERE WERE NONE. I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THIS TRANSMISSION AND READ MULTIPLE POSTS ON TRANNY PROBLEMS BUT NO RECALL OR FIXES. THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK IT FOR A DRIVE TO SEE IF I COULD FIGURE OUT WHEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENS SO THAT I COULD GET IT INTO THE SHOP. THE CAR DID THE SAME THING 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN A 10 MILE SPAN, EACH TIME TAKING LONGER TO ENGAGE IN A GEAR. FINALLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ONCE AGAIN I TOOK IT TO AUTOZONE AND THE CODE READ: P06B8 INDICATING A PCM PROBLEM. I AM NOW CURRENTLY WAITING TO GET IT INTO THE SHOP TO HAVE THIS FIXED, HOWEVER I FEEL THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY FACTOR. MY WIFE AND KIDS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED HAD THEY BEEN DRIVING AT FASTER SPEEDS AND WERE NOT ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE CAR LITERALLY GOES OUT OF GEAR WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING IT AND ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS. SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD!!! *TR
