TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP AND WOULD STALL SPORADICALLY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE VEHICLES WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT OF A WRENCH LIT UP INDICATING TRANSMISSION/THROTTLE BODY SERVICE. HAD PREVIOUSLY HAD TRANSMISSION INSPECTED AND WERE NO PROBLEMS. THE CAR WILL THRUST IN DIRECTION CAR IS IN GEAR OF SUCH AS WHEN CAR IS IN REVERSE IT WILL THRUST AND LUNGE BACKWARDS ALSO IN DRIVE LUNGE FORWARDS. IT ALSO IS ENHANCED WHEN THE CARS HEATER OR A/C IS RUNNING. HAVE RESEARCHED AND MANY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE AIR CONDITIONER TURNED ON, SHE NOTICED THAT IT WOULD NOT BLOW OUT COLD AIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000. MY FORD FIVE HUNDRED THROTTLE JUST SHUTS DOWN,WITH NO WARNING AT ALL. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT MAY SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC AND SOME GET SERIOUSLY HURT. I HAVE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND MORE COMPLAINTS SAME AS MINE. THE PROBLEM IS WITH A THROTTLE BODY MALFUNCTION. SOME THING SHOULD DONE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY ACCELERATE WITHOUT WARNING AND OFTEN TIMES, WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL INTERMITTENTLY AND FAIL TO START. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 109,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE CAR HAD BEGUN SURGING HARD BOTH IN REVERSE AND FORWARD. IT HAPPENS WHEN STOPPING AND WHEN FIRST PUTTING IT IN GEAR. I'VE BEEN FORTUNATE TO HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING YET, BUT I AM FEARFUL THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN. I'M SEEING A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM IN SEVERAL FORUMS AND WEBSITES. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SERIOUS MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. *TR
I WOULD BE STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT AND WOULD PUSH ON THE THROTTLE TO ACCELERATE. THE GUY WOULD NOT MOVE AT FIRST THEN WOULD "JUMP" AND ACCELERATE QUICKLY. I NEVER HIT ANYONE BECAUSE I WAS CAREFUL, BUT I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM DIAGNOSE IT. THEY CLAIMED TO KNOW OF THE PROBLEM BUT WOULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. I PAID OVER $1,000 TO HAVE THEM REPLACE MY "THROTTLE BODY." *TR
THIS CAR IS SCARING ME AND ANYONE ELSE THAT HAS TO MOVE IT IN OR OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR WHEN APPROACHING A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. IT LUNGES FORWARD WHEN PUTTING IT IN ANY GEAR AND WHEN AT A STOP. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. I AM SO AFRAID SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HIT OR PROPERTY DAMAGE WILL OCCUR. YOUR FOOT CAN BE PRESSED ON THE BRAKE AND IT STILL LUNGES FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED AT 38,000 AND IS GETTING INCREASINGLY WORSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OVER A CURVE AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE, FRACTURING THE OIL PAN. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. THE CONTACT HAD TO SHIFT INTO PARK IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CHECKS NORMAL ON MOST START-UPS, BUT UNPREDICTABLY ALL SYSTEMS LIGHT UP SHOWING FAILURE OF ABS, AIR BAGS, TRACTION CONTROL, ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, SEE A MECHANIC, CRUISE CONTROL AND SPEEDOMETER QUITS WORKING. THE WARNING LIGHTS MAY STAY LIT FOR 2 TO 200 MILES. AND NO SPEEDOMETER. AUTO ZONE AND MY MECHANIC ARE BAFFLED AND FRUSTRATED AFTER CHECKING BATTERY CHARGING CIRCUIT CONNECTIONS AND GROUNDS. ITS OBVIOUSLY NOT SAFE DRIVING WITHOUT KNOWING YOUR SPEED OR IF THERE IS A MAJOR HAZARD LOOMING-----LIKE FIRE. *TR
DEAR SIRS: MY 2006 FORD 500 HAS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT SEVERAL TIMES TO THE FORD DEALER, BUT THE CAR WON'T MESS UP WHEN THE DEALER CHECKS IT OUT. TODAY MY WIFE STARTED THE CAR, PLACED HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE & SHIFTED THE CAR INTO REVERSE. BEFORE SHE HAD TIME TO REMOVE HER FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE SPED UP & THE CAR TRIED TO MOVE BACKWARD. IT'S A GOOD THING SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED BEFORE IN FORWARD GEAR. I WAS IN THE CAR BESIDE HER & I WITNESSED HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHEN THE CAR TRIED,ON IT'S OWN TO TAKE OFF. IT'S A SCARY SITUATION & I NEED SOME HELP TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE HESITATED BEFORE QUICKLY ACCELERATING. AN ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE MESSAGE ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THERE WAS AN INCREASE IN ENGINE RPMS DURING THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE HAD SINCE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE TO PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY, VEHICLE LURCHED AND THEN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. TURNED OFF KEY, RESTARTED, PULLED INTO STREET, VEHICLE AGAIN LURCHED, WRENCH LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH, VEHICLE SHUT ITSELF OFF. TURNED KEY OFF AND RESTARTED--CAR DID SAMETHING AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. LAST TIME, REKEYED VEHICLE WORKED FROM THAT POINT. CAR TAKEN TO DEALER & HAD A CODE OF U0401 IN TRANSMISSION. WAS TOLD THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. HAVE NOT REPLACED PART AT THE POINT DUE TO COST. *TR
THE FORD FIVE HUNDRED I OWN HAS SURGES OF ACCELERATION WHEN I AM INCHING MY WAY INTO A PARKING SPOT OR FORWARD LOSER TO A WALL OR ANOTHER CAR. I HAVE TO QUICKLY SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING SOMETHING. I FEAR AT SOME POINT IT MAY BE A PERSON. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE BUT I WAS NEVER ABLE TO REPRODUCE IT FOR A MECHANIC. I HAVE MADE A CONNECTION TO HOT WEATHER AND THE CAR'S AIR CONDITIONING BEING ON. I FEAR THIS IS NOT SAFE. *TR
MY 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED ACCELERATES UNCONTROLLABLY. WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO GEAR IT ACCELERATES WITHOUT THROTTLING. IT HAPPENS FROM PARK-TO-ANY GEAR AND SOMETIMES WHEN AT TRAFFIC STOPS. I'VE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM FOR A WHILE, BUT IT IS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. SCARY!!! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE THROTTLE BODY AS BEING DEFECTIVE. THE REPAIR COST WAS $900. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,673.

THE ENGINE SURGES WHEN YOU PUT IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND THIS PROBLEM HAS ME CONCERNED ABOUT HER SAFETY EVERY TIME SHE GETS IN THIS CAR. I THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING RID OF IT BUT I COULDN'T LET SOMEONE ELSE HAVE A CAR WITH THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I HOPE SOMEONE CAN FIND OUT WHAT THE REMEDY IS FOR THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP. *TR
A FUELD DELIVERY SYSTEM ISSUE ON MY 2006 FORD FIVE HINDRED. THE ENGINE ACCELERATES THE VEHICLE DURING LOW SPEEDS IN FORWARD AND REVERSE, WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. THIS HAS HAPPEND 4 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK.
WHILE RUNNING THE AIR CONDITIONER, THEN EITHER BRIEFLY SHUTTING OFF ENGINE OR IDLING IN PARK OR NEUTRAL, ONCE THE CAR IS SHIFTED INTO DRIVE GEAR THE ENGINE ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN, FOOT BREAK IS ON. RPMS INCREASE FOR 3-4 SECONDS THEN GO BACK DOWN TO NORMAL. THE CAR WAS UNABLE TO LURCH FORWARD ONLY BECAUSE I'VE HAD MY FOOT ON THE BREAK DUE TO MY SHIFTING OF GEARS (FROM PARK OR NEUTRAL TO DRIVE). THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I ONLY HAD THE BREAK PEDAL SLIGHTLY DEPRESSED - CAR JUMPED FORWARD - I FULLY DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP. OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY BUT INTENSITY OF SURGE INCREASING. YESTERDAY HAD A MUCH STRONGER SURGE IN DRIVE-THRU, THEN CAR STALLED. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, ENGINE LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON SINCE YESTERDAY'S INCIDENT. TOP MOTOR MOUNT DAMPER (ROUND RUBBER DISK) IS CRACKED THRU AS WELL, PROBABLY DUE TO LURCHING.
WHILE PUTTING THE FORD FIVE HUNDRED IN REVERSE THE CAR BRIEFLY ACCELERATED AND LUNGED BACKWARDS BARLEY MISSING ANOTHER CAR. THINKING I MIGHT HAD HIT THE ACCELERATOR I WENT ON TO WHERE I WAS HEADED. AS I WAS LEAVING MY DESTINATION ONCE AGAIN THE CAR JUST TOOK OFF WHILE IN REVERSE. THE CAR THEN GAVE A WRENCH FAULT ON THE CONSOLE. I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE IN THE MANUAL AND IT SAID IT WAS A THROTTLE CONTROL ISSUE. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALER TODAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. UPON INVESTIGATION I FIND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN WITHIN 3 TO 5 FEET OF MY AUTO I WOULD HAVE HIT THEM.

2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED SEL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OUR 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED HAS ACCELERATED WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT IN A PARKING LOT OR INTO OUR GARAGE. THIS USUALLY OCCURS WHILE OUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE AT IDLE SPEED. ACCELERATION VARIES FROM MILD TO VERY NOTICEABLE BY THE PASSENGERS. CONCERNED ABOUT HITTING PEDESTRIANS OR OTHER VEHICLES OR LOSING CONTROL OF VEHICLE. *KB

I TOO HAVE A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED THAT WILL LUNGE FORWARD AT ODD TIMES ESPECIALLY WHEN THE A/C IS ON. IN FACT, I WON'T EVEN USE THE A/C ANYMORE BECAUSE OF MY FORD FIVE HUNDRED LUNGING FORWARD. THIS PROBLEM GAS OCCURRED ON MANY OCCASIONS WITH NEAR MISSES ON PARKING AND PEDESTRIANS AND MY RESEARCH HAS FOUND IT TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL. INCREASING TO AND FINALLY ENDING IN THE CAR SHUTTING DOWN, MY '06 FIVE HUNDRED BEGAN SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS WHEN BEING PLACED IN GEAR. SEVERAL "CLOSE CALLS" WHEN IN PARKING LOTS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURY TO PEOPLE. NOT GOOD AND SCARY. IT STARTED WITH OCCASIONAL SURGES, AND BECAME VERY FREQUENT UNTIL THE LIGHT CAME ON REVEALING THE THROTTLE CONTROL IS THE ISSUE. I AM CURRENTLY GROUNDED UNTIL IT CAN BE FIXED. MY 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED WILL SUDDENLY LUNGE FORWARD THEN SPUTTER AND DIE. IT WILL ALSO DO THIS WHEN BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPOTS. THERE IS A BRIEF "WRENCH" DASH LIGHT THAT COMES ON. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE SITTING AT RED LIGHTS AND COULD BE DEADLY. CODE SAYS FAILED THROTTLE BODY. WHY NO PART RECALL? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,601. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,500. .. UPDATED 09/19/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 54.30. PER REPUTABLE A/C MECHANIC THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH FORD 500'S.CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY IN DETROIT 7/13/11, FORD WILL NOT COVER REPAIR, BUT I WAS TOLD THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENTS FOR A/C FAILURE. CAR ACCELERATES SUDDENLY WITHOUT HAVING FOOT ON ACCELERATOR. IT ONLY HAPPENS IN WARM WEATHER WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONING IS ON. WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAKING WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR PULLING INTO GARAGE THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WITH HESITATION. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE OCCURRED FIFTEEN TIMES. DURING THE MOST RECENT FAILURE, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

I OWN A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED AND NOTICED DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS IT WOULD OCCASIONALLY "SURGE" WHEN PUTTING IT IN REVERSE OR DRIVE AND HAD TO HOLD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. I TOOK IT INTO A SHOP AND THEY SHOWED ME MY TOP MOTOR MOUNT WAS BROKEN AND SAID THAT WAS COMMON ON THIS VEHICLE AND COULD ACCOUNT FOR THE "SURGING". I HAD IT REPLACED AND IT SEEMED OK UNTIL I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER. THEY SUGGESTED I ALSO HAVE THE FUEL FILTER CHANGED AND THE NEXT DAY WHILE WAITING TO PARK FOR A CONCERT WITH MY SON (HOT DAY W/AC ON) IT STARTED SURGIN FORWARD MUCH HARDER THAN IT HAD BEFORE. WHILE PARKING I ALMOST HIT THE WALL! AFTER SOME RESEARCH I SEE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE 2005-2007 FORD VEHICLES SHARING THIS POWERTRAIN. I OWN A 2006 FORD 500. CVT TRANSMISSION. 114,000 MILES . 3 WEEKS AGO, I NOTICED A SURGING ON OCCASIONS . FELT LIKE IT NEEDED TUNE UP. AFTER TUNEUP THE SURGING CONTINUED.MY MECHANIC SAID TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER , HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. WHEN I DID , WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION SLIPPING ON CONES IN TRANSMISSION, COST $5600.. SAID COULD NOT REBUILD TRANSMISSION , BECAUSE FORD DID NOT SUPPLY THEM WITH THE EQUIPMENT TO DO THIS. SAID THEY RAN TEST TO FIND PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING. WAS TOLD THEY ALSO CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID, AND IT WAS OK.COST WAS $80. TO FIND PROBLEM.THAT AFTERNOON , I CHECKED TRANSMISSION FLUID , AND DIPSTICK WAS HARD TO REMOVE , BECAUSE IT HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED SINCE CAR WAS NEW. AFTER GETTING IT TO FREE-UP, IT JUST SLIDES IN AND OUT. AFTER INSPECTING FLUID, NOTICED COLOR OF FLUID IS COLOR OF UNUSED MOTOR OIL..ALMOST CLEAR. ALSO HAD A FEW BUBBLES IN IT.COLOR IS SUPPOSED TO BE BLUISH-GREEN, AS IT GETS OLDER TURNS DARK GREEN, OR BROWN. WENT BACK TO FORD DEALERSHIP, INFORMED SERV. MGR THAT FLUID WAS NEVER CHECKED ALSO THERE WAS NO BELT , IT HAS A CHAIN IN IT. COST $900.+FOR CHAIN. HE SAID DRIVE CAR UNTIL WRENCH INDICATOR CAME ON .NEXT DAY,WRENCH APPEARED. CAR LOST POWER ,CONTINUED TO RUN ,HOWEVER COULD NOT REV RPMS. CUT OFF,THEN RESTARTED CAR, THIS CLEARS CODES..STILL IN LINGO. ALSO MOTOR SUPPORT ON TOP OF ENGINE IS BROKEN, THIS EFFECTS TRANSMISSION. PART IS PARTIALLY RUBBER AND HEAT FROM ENGINE CAUSES IT TO BREAK. COST OF THIS ON EBAY $200.THRU FORD, REPLACED $600+.THROTTLE CONTROL I UNDERSTAND IS LIKE $800.+SOMEONE NEED TO LOOK AT ALL THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE LISTED ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET.. I LOOKED AT TRADING CAR , VALUE ON TRADE WAS $5300. WITH GOOD TRANSMISSION..WHICH COST $5600.CAR IS A 2006 MODEL,. ARE CARS ONLY SUPPOSE TO LAST 5 YEARS. I OWN A 2006 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THIS PAST WEEK I HAD AN ISSUE WITH MY CAR LUNGING FORWARD WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND ALSO WHILE BACKING UP. MY HUSBAND WAS PARKING THE VEHICLE AT A RESTAURANT AND WHILE THE BRAKE WAS ENGAGED THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD AND HIT THE CURB. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ONCE IT HIT THE CURB. WHAT IF THE CURB WAS NOT THERE BUT, A PERSON WAS. WE LEFT THE RESTAURANT AND WE WERE AT A STOP LIGHT. MY HUSBAND SAID HE FELT THE CAR WAS GOING TO TAKE OFF. WHEN WE GOT HOME SAFELY ( THANK GOD ) WE WENT ONLINE TO INVESTIGATE. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH WE ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THE FORD FREESTYLE HAS MANY COMPLAINTS AND THE MERCURY MONTEGO AS WELL AS THE FIVE HUNDRED HAVE COMPLAINTS AS WELL. IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. MY HUSBAND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE PART FOR ABOUT $560.00. LUCKILY MY NEIGHBOR IS A MECHANIC AND WILL BE PUTTING THE PART IN FOR US. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
5/20-7/18/11 CAR ACCELERATED QUICKLY AND LURCHED BACKWARD WITH BRAKE ON WHILE BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE; WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. ERROR CODES WERE FOR ALTERNATIVE FUEL CONTROL MODULE AND THROTTLE ACTUATOR CONTROL SYSTEM. SOMETIMES CAR LURCHED FORWARD WHILE BRAKING, ENGINE REVVED, CAR SHUDDERED, AND WRENCH AND/OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. STARTED HAPPENING ALMOST DAILY. VERY SCARY AND UNPREDICTABLE. MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR AND EGR VALVE WERE REPLACED. HAD SAME ISSUES 2 DAYS LATER. THROTTLE BODY AND VACUUM HOSES WERE REPLACED. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY REFUSED TO COVER PARTS AND LABOR BECAUSE CAR WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. LAST REPAIR WAS DONE 30 DAYS AGO AND I'VE HAD NO MORE PROBLEMS, BUT IT COST ME $1600 TO REPAIR.
