WHEN AFTER STARTING CAR AND GEAR SHIFT PUT INTO EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE THE ENGINE WILL SURGE CAUSING CAR TO LUNGE. IF NOT AWARE OF ISSUE AND HAVE FOOT ON BRAKE WOULD HIT WHAT EVER IN THE WAY OF CAR. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN PULLING INTO OR OUT OF PARKING SPACE. I HAD MY CAR FIXED AT A FORD DEALER AND THEN CONTACTED FORD MOTOR ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T SEEM TO TAKE THE ISSUE SERIOUSLY. ACCORDING TO MY FORD DEALER THE PROBLEM IS IN THE THROTTLE BODY. I WENT OUT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OTHER FORD 500 OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME THING. THE BIG PROBLEM IS THAT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL OF THE TIME. THE MAIN REASON FOR THIS COMPLIANT IS THAT FORD DOESN'T WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEY HAVE A PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING, THE VEHICLE JERKED AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 67,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO SURGE FORWARD. THE CONTACT THEN ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD ATTEMPT TO SURGE FORWARD WHILE DRIVING EVEN THOUGHT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE ALSO ATTEMPTED TO SURGE BACKWARD ON OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSISTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A POWER SURGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 125,782.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE ORIGIN OF THE NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE A/C AT LOW SPEEDS WAS PUTTING OUT WARM AIR IN 90F TEMPERATURE. THIS WAS CAUSED BY A LEAKING SEAL AND THE COMPRESSOR WAS FAILING. THE FIX WAS $1200 AT A LOCAL DEALER. *JS
WHEN CAR WAS PLACED IN GEAR THROTTLE SURGED CAUSING CAR TO JUMP WHILE FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE., ALSO SURGES WHEN PULLING SLOWLY INTO PARKING PLACE. *TR
MY 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED SEL FWD WITH THE 3.0 V-6 (81,421 MILES) AND 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WILL INTERMITTENTLY SURGE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS WITHOUT GAS PEDAL APPLICATION WHEN IDLING IN GEAR. IT IS AS IF I FLOORED IN A JACKRABBIT START. IT DOES NOT DO THIS EVERY TIME THAT THE CAR GOES TO IDLE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE (FOR EXAMPLE, IF I AM IN TRAFFIC AT A STOPLIGHT) BUT IT WILL DO THIS AT LEAST ONCE EVERY TIME I DRIVE. I HAVE HAD TO KEEP MY RIGHT FOOT FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHILE BACKING OR IN A PARKING LOT TO KEEP THE CAR FROM HITTING PEDESTRIANS, OTHER CARS, SIGN POLES IN PARKING LOTS AND MY CARPORT'S WALL. IT WILL SUDDENLY REV UP WHEN IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL AND TRY TO MOVE IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER. IT MAY ONLY DO IT ONCE OR IT MAY DO IT THREE OR FOUR TIMES IN JUST AS MANY SECONDS. I WAS UNAWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND NEARLY HIT ANOTHER CAR THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO WARNING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ACTIVATED. MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A TACHOMETER, I HAVE SEEN IT JUMP AS HIGH AS 2000 RPM FROM A 750 RPM IDLE AND THEN FALL RIGHT BACK TO 750. THE FACT THAT I HAVE NOT HIT ANYONE YET IS PROOF THAT THIS IS NOT A PEDAL MISAPPLICATION ERROR, BUT MY CONCERN IS THAT AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER OR SOMEONE WHO IS UNAWARE OF THIS DEFECT WILL BE SURPRISED BY IT AND KILL OR INJURE THEMSELVES OR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER OWNED A VEHICLE WITH SUCH A PROBLEM I TOOK MY CAR TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY WHICH IS BEING REPLACED TOMORROW. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND REPORTS THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NO BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL. THE FACT THAT A DEFECTIVE PART CAN CAUSE A VEHICLE TO ACT IN SUCH A DANGEROUS MANNER IS SYMPTOMATIC OF A FACTORY DEFECT AND SHOULD BE ACTED UPON BY THE NHTSA AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION ISSUES. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BY THE NHSTA BUT NOTHING CAME OF IT. THE CAR STILL ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN WHEN I PULL INTO PARKING SPACES OR LEAVING PARKING SPACES. I HAVE TO KEEP MY FOOT ON OR BY THE BRAKE PEDAL AS TO NOT HIT OTHER CARS OR PEOPLE. HAVING THE AIR CONDITIONING ON SEEMS TO WORSEN THIS PROBLEM SUBSTANTIALLY. IT IS COMPLETELY RANDOM AND I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON THAT HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ISSUE. PLEASE REOPEN YOUR INVESTIGATION AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BOTH THE AC ON AND OFF. IT'S MAINLY WHEN IT IS ON, BUT STILL COMPLETELY RANDOM. I DON'T KNOW HOW PEOPLE AND PROPERTY HAVEN'T BEEN INJURED OR DAMAGED AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS WELL KNOWN ISSUE.
AT VERY LOW SPEEDS (EXAMPLE IN A PARKING LOT) TRYING TO PARK THE CAR IT WILL SURGE REALLY HARD EVEN WHEN FOOT IS ON BRAKE.. MAKES PARKING VERY DANGEROUS.. I ALMOST HIT A PERSON AND ALMOST WRECKED INTO ANOTHER CAR ANOTHER TIME.. WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE WITH FOOT ON BRAKE THE RPMS GO AWAY UP AND IT IS AS IF SOMEONE IS FLOORING THE GAS PEDAL. *TR
WITH THE A/C ON AND THE CAR TRAVELING AT LOW SPEED, THE CAR SURGES(LURCHES) FORWARD OR IN REVERSE DEPENDING ON THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR. IT HAPPENS, FOR EXAMPLE, WHEN PULLING IN TO A PARKING STALL. AS I'M APPROACHING THE FINAL POSITION WHERE I'M NEARLY READY TO PUT THE GEAR SHIFT IN PARK, THE CAR WILL LURCH FORWARD NEARLY HITTING THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN PULLING INTO MY GARAGE OR AT A STOP LIGHT. OCCURRENCES ARE OBVIOUSLY WHEN IT'S HOT OUTSIDE WHICH IS WHY I'VE GOT THE A/C ON. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME WITH THE A/C ON, JUST SOME OF THE TIME. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED HEAD FIRST, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISING TO HER THIGH, ARM AND CHEST, AND ALSO EXPERIENCED SHORTNESS OF BREATH. THE CONTACT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL VIA AMBULANCE. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT SMELLED AN EXTREMELY STRONG FUEL ODOR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V355000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER ADVISED THAT OIL AND FREON WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE COMPRESSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 140,000.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS CAR HAS BEEN LUNGING FORWARD WITHOUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS. A COUPLE WEEKS AGO WHILE PULLING INTO MY DRIVING WAY IT LUNGED AND THE CAR RAN INTO MY CONCRETE STEPS CAUSING 3,500 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS. I REALLY HOPE YOU TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY BECAUSE ONCE LIVES ARE LOST YOU CAN'T GET THEM BACK. I JUST WANT FORD TO FESS UP AND TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS PROBLEM, SO I MAY GET IT FIXED AND NOT KILL OR INJURE ANYONE. *TR
THERE IS A CHRONIC RECURRENCE OF THE ENGINE STALLING, JERKING, IDLE SPEED LOPING, IN LOW GEAR FOR THIS VEHICLE. AT START UP AND THE ENGINE IS COLD THERE IS LITTLE TO NO PROBLEM. HOWEVER, ONCE THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED (PER THE READOUT GAUGE), AND UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP, AND AS THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS THE ENGINE GOES DEAD OR STALLS, AFTER RE-STARTING AND AT IDLE, THE IDLE SPEED, PER THE INDICATOR, FLUCTUATES BACK AND FORTH FROM ABOUT 500 RPM'S TO 900 RPMS. PLACING THE GEAR SHIFT IN THE DRIVE POSITION CAUSES THE CAR TO JUMP PRIOR TO ACCELERATION. AT THIS POINT WHEN TAKING OFF THE CAR JERKS FORWARD. IT SMOOTHES OUT AFTER INCREASING THE SPEED, BUT PRIOR TO EACH STOP THE FLUCTUATING BEGINS AGAIN. *JS
I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THE CAR ENGINE ACCELERATE AS IF IT I WAS ON THE GAS PEDAL GOING 50, EXCEPT I WAS ON THE BRAKE. IF I AM SITTING AT A RED LIGHT THE CAR ENGINE ACCELERATE I NOTICED THAT THE RPM NEEDLE WILL GO UP TO 3 SOMETIME 4 IF I AM NOT CAREFUL TO KEEP CONTROL OF THE CAR IT WILL TAKE OFF SO I HAVE TO BE CAREFUL TO KEEP MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 124,795.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE AND ALSO WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 03/16/12 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD WHEN HE SHIFTED THE GEAR FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR FROM PARK TO REVERSE. IT CAUSED A LOUD BANGING NOISE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE WRENCH WARNING ICON WOULD ILLUMINATE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WAS STOPPED AT A DRIVE-THRU WINDOW AND WHEN I WENT TO PULL UP TO RECEIVE MY FOOD, THE CAR LURCHED AHEAD OF THE WINDOW. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO PICK UP MY FOOD AND IT LURCHED SO FAST BACKWARD THAT I HAD NO CONTROL OF IT, EVEN WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THIS CAUSED A CRASH INTO THE FRONT OF ANOTHER CAR. I HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND I AM A CAREFUL DRIVER. I RECEIVED A MOVING VIOLATION AND THERE WAS DAMAGE DONE TO BOTH CARS. ENOUGH DAMAGE THAT OUR INSURANCE COMPANY IS INVOLVED. FORD SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE LURCH PROBLEMS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. THANK GOODNESS NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, PLEASE, FORD, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE FORDS THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. *TR
AT A STOPLIGHT WITH THE BRAKE ON THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD ABOUT 20 FEET BEFORE I COULD STOP IT. AT THE NEXT LIGHT THE SAME THING HAPPENED. AT MY FINAL DESTINATION APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AWAY MY SON (WHO WAS WITH ME THE WHOLE TIME = I WAS TAKING HIM BACK TO COLLEGE) TOLD ME TO LET THE CAR RUN TO SEE IF IT WOULD DO IT AGAIN. WITH THE CAR IN DRIVE AND MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE (HARD) IT REVVED UP 2 MORE TIMES IN LESS THAN 2 MINUTES TO AT LEAST 1500 RPM AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO HOLD BACK. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AT A COST OF $800. AFTER CALLING FORD AND REPORTING THE SITUATION THEY REFUSED TO DOCUMENT THIS OR MAKE A CASE NUMBER UNTIL I TOLD THEM I KNEW THERE WAS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN ON THIS ACCORDING TO THE DEALER. THEY GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER [XXX] BUT WERE RUDE TO ME AND COULD NOT ANSWER IF THE REPLACEMENT PART ADDRESSED THE ISSUE AND HAS BEEN FIXED. I DO NOT KNOW IF IT WILL HAPPEN IN THE NEXT MILE, NEXT 100,000 MILES, OR NEVER AGAIN IF THEY WILL NOT SAY IF REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE CORRECTED A PROBLEM. IF A CAR OR PEDESTRIAN WERE IN FRONT OF ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT DOUBT. THIS CAR HAS A SAFETY PROBLEM AND THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON NOV. 27, 2011. AUTOMOBILE LUNGED FORWARD WITHOUT TOUCHING GAS WHEN AIR CONDITIONER OR HEAT ON. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLEANED THROTTLE PLATE, FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODY AND REPROGRAMMED POWERTRAIN CONTROL. SEEN ONLINE OTHERS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM . CAR ONLY HAS 47,000 MILES. *TR

MY FORD BEGAN ACTING STRANGELY WHEN TURNING, AND WOULD HYDROPLANE BADLY WHEN RAINING. I TOOK IT TO MY INDEPENDENT GARAGE AND THEY FOUND THAT THE LEFT LOWER BALL JOINT RETAINING NUT HAD WORKED LOOSE. THAT CAUSED THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL TO MOVE IN TOWARD THE BALL JOINT AND THE JOINT OR NUT TORE THE TIRE DOWN TO THE STEEL BELT. THE SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT IT APPEARED THAT THE NUT WAS NOT TORQUED CORRECTLY AT THE FACTORY. OF COURSE, I HAD TO HAVE THE BALL JOINT REPLACED AND TWO NEW TIRES. I DID NOTIFY FORD MOTOR CO. *TR
THIS CAR HAS LUNGED FORWARD AND BACKWARD ALMOST CAUSING SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. DEALERSHIP SAY THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING IT. WARRANTY IS WORTHLESS. AIR CONDITIONER WENT OUT WHEN TEMP'S WERE OVER 105 DEGREES. OVER $1000 TO REPAIR. *TR

DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY CAUSING "LUNGING ISSUES" ALMOST HAD THREE ACCIDENTS, JUST FROM THE LUNGING. ONCE I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL THE CAR WOULD TURN OFF, DEALER ADVISED THAT IT DUE TO A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY THAT THEY WILL REPLACE COSTING ME $900. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS USING MOST OF THE VEHICLE POWER AND CAUSING THE BATTERY TO FAIL. THE CONTACT HAD TO PURCHASE TWO BATTERIES IN A ONE MONTH PERIOD AS A RESULT OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
WE HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS NOW, THE CAR SURGES A LITTLE WHEN IT IS PUT INTO GEAR (DRIVE, REVERSE), MORE RECENTLY THE CAR HAS BEGUN TO SURGE AND OR LUNGE SOMETIMES DANGEROUSLY WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED. (NOT ALL THE TIME, RANDOMLY) I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON THE INTERNET AND I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT ITS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY FORD WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED WHICH CONSTANTLY ACCELERATES UNINTENTIONALLY. IT ALSO HAS BEGUN TO LOOSE ACCELERATION AND LUNGES EVERY TIME I PRESS THE GAS PEDDLE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ABNORMALLY AFTER BRAKING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC BUT FOUND NO FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A DESIGN FLAW WITHIN THE THROTTLE BODY THAT WAS CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY THROTTLE BODY WENT COMPLETELY OUT AT 99481 MILES. I PAID APPROX. $800 FOR THE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT. FORD MOTOR COMPANY REIMBURSED FOR THE SERVICE ON 12/11/2012 AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN MADE ABOUT THE THROTTLE BODY IN THIS MODEL THAT THEY WERE PAYING FOR PREVIOUS SERVICES FOR ANY REPAIRS/REPLACEMENTS MADE FOR THIS PART. I BELIEVE THE REPLACEMENT PART USED WAS ALSO DEFECTIVE, AND MADE MENTION OF MY CONCERN TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME. THEY AGREED THAT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE A DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT PART AS THE NEW PART THEY WERE USING A YEAR LATER WAS DIFFERENT. I HAVE HAD MY REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY CLEANED AND RE-PROGRAMMED SEVERAL TIMES (AT LEAST TWICE A YEAR SINCE THE REPLACEMENT). FORD MOTOR COMPANY WILL DO NOTHING NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED A NEW THROTTLE BODY WHICH IS ABOUT AN $800 REPAIR. FORD MOTOR COMPANY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THOSE OF US, WHO RECEIVED A FAULTY OR DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT PART, US WHOLE. I HOPE THAT OTHERS WILL MAKE IT KNOWN IF THEY HAVE HAD A DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT THROTTLE BODY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
WE PURCHASED OUR 2007 FORD 500 IN JULY OF 2007. AT 87,000 MILES THE A/C COMPRESSOR IS FAILING. THE A/C WORKS PROPERLY IF GOING ABOVE 45 MILES PER HOUR, HOWEVER ONCE YOU SLOW DOWN AND OR STOP, THE AIR STARTS WARMING UP. I WAS JUST QUOTED $1400.00+ TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. I COMPLETED A LOT OF RESEARCH THIS WEEK IN REFERENCE TO THIS ISSUE PRIOR TO HAVING THE PROBLEMS LOOKED AT AND THERE ARE LITERALLY 100'S OF DOCUMENTED CASES OF THIS SAME PROBLEM ON 2005-2007FORD 500'S. OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS AND FORD SHOULD STEP IN AND MAKE THIS RIGHT. *TR
AFTER ONLY 72000 MILES, MY A/C COMPRESSOR ON THE 2007 FORD FIVE HUNDRED HAS GIVEN OUT, LEAVING ME A HEFTY REPAIR BILL OF $1300+! MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN A PRIVATE MECHANIC'S SHOP BEING WORKED ON AND HE HAS COMPLETED OUR REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE. THE A/C WOULD WORK AT SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH, BUT IN 100 DEGREE HEAT HERE IN TEXAS ALL SUMMER, IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, IT WAS MISERABLE. *TR

THE FORD FIVE HUNDRED'S ENGINE SHUTS OFF AS YOU TURN THE WHEEL, THAT'S HOW IT STARTED OUT. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE CAR'S ENGINE WOULD SHUT OFF JUST DRIVING STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP AND NOT MOVE. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE KEY TO OFF POSITION. AFTER TURNING KEY TO OFF POSITION, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT DROVE FINE UNTIL I EITHER TURNED A CORNER OR IT JUST SHUT OFF AS I WENT STRAIGHT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY HAVE HAD QUITE A FEW FORD FIVE HUNDRED OWNERS COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS CAR IS ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD AND 84,000 (PLUS) MILES ON IT. THIS CAR SHOULDN'T BE ACTING LIKE THAT. IT WILL COST $800+ TO GET IT FIXED, IF WHAT THEY DO WILL FIX IT. WITH ALL THOSE OTHER COMPLAINTS COMING INTO THE DEALERSHIP, I WONDER HOW MANY OTHERS' IN THE US ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE ISSUE NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THANKS
WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY SURGE FORWARD. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT. WHILE SHOPPING TODAY IN 90+ TEMPERATURES TODAY, THE CAR ACCELERATED ON MORE THAN THREE OCCASIONS AS I PULLED INTO PARKING SPACES. THE CAR HAS ACCELERATED ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS WHEN I HAVE STOPPED FOR PEDESTRIANS. FORTUNATELY, I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. TODAY, I CAME VERY CLOSE TO CRASHING THROUGH MY GARAGE CABINETS WHEN THE ENGINE SURGED AS I PULLED INTO THE GARAGE AND WAS INCHING FORWARD TO CLEAR THE GARAGE DOOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DIFFERENT AUTO SHOP FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON A MASSIVE BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
