The backup camera malfunctioned. The malfunction was reported to the Ford dealer. No replacement part is available from Ford. The car is still under warranty, but Ford is making no efforts to repair or replace this mandatory safety component of my car.
The radio turns on even when the car is off and the keys are not nearby . Sometimes it turns off while driving and will be off for days at a time while other times it just comes on full volume while parked and unattended. Maybe an electrical issue ?
The backup camera is flashing on and off when in reverse. Once it do stay on the video is cloudy, pixilated and flipped upside down. It also stays black screen for a bit then pops back on.
My Ford reverse camera fails to display a correct image, decreasing driver visibility. It is nearly always displayed upside down or occasionally the image fails to appear at all. The parking guide lines also fail to display since January. There were no warning lights when the malfunction began in January 2023 and at that same time, the camera started remaining on while I drive forward, showing a live upside down view while driving forward for various amounts of time after shifting out of reverse. The Ford dealership says they have several people with rear view camera malfunctions right now but they aren't manufacturing those cameras at this time so they can't fix it and there is no ETA at all. In addition to that, they quoted a high price to fix this some day when the part is made again even though it's clearly a manufacturer defect. I've been repeatedly asking Ford for help with my faulty rear view safety camera since Jan 2023. The dealership inspected it and confirmed the defect which is easily reproduced by simply putting the vehicle in reverse. They did not inspect the cables, wiring or electrical components even though I requested it. There has been no resolution and my car is unsafe in reverse because of the Ford camera defect and non-working backover protection. This is a long vehicle and the defective reverse camera or camera wiring causing the image to be upside down or flashing off to black creates a risk of backing up into people, objects and other vehicles. It is extremely troubling and dangerous at all times in reverse, especially in parking lots and in areas with pedestrian or vehicular traffic, street parking and in tight conditons such as parking structures and garages. I've been asking for a resolution from Ford for almost 6 months. I need the camera and wiring repaired ASAP or a temporary vehicle to drive until this safety issue is resolved. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Thank you.

The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
The rear camera in this vehicle is not functioning properly, and it is a known issue on other models of this year.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the back-over prevention camera image was displayed upside down. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V951000 (Back Over Prevention). The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
The Rearview Camera has gone out, for which they have sold so many that the dealers cannot get replacements. This should definitely be Recalled like the many, many other Ford Rearview Camera Recalls! Note: Vehicle has less than 25,000 miles on it.
REAR backup camera has upside down view. Tried various remedies (reset, and battery disconnect) to fix issue but when vehicle is put into reverse camera has view that is upside down. Dealer says camera and soft ware needs to be replaced but is not covered under vehicle warranty. I see Ford is now recalling other models with the same issue. Can you let me know if the 2019 Ford Flex will be recalled for the same camera issues?
Back up camera not working; started flashing on/off, turning upside down, and now simply does not work; the beeping still works to let you know you’re close but the visual is not available. Not being able to SEE what is behind me is a safety issue as well as not being able to see how close I am to objects. I have taken my Flex to Tim Short Ford Dealership in Morehead, KY where the problem was reproduced. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representative. The warning message that the camera is not available appears when the vehicle is put in reverse. It began approximately 6 months ago.
The problem was with the backup camera. The problem started when we had about 25,000 miles on the car, I ended up getting the camera replaced at 36,000 miles. The camera worked properly 90 to 95% of the time. Sometimes it would just be fuzzy, sometimes it would be blank and say camera not available, and other times it showed everything upside down. Sometimes the obstacle beeper would work, and when the camera wasn't working the Beeper would not work. We were going on a trip over the recent Christmas holidays out of state and my wife wanted the Peace of Mind of having that camera working. We are both retired, and I took it to a dealer and it cost almost $700 to replace the camera. I told the Ford dealer that I wanted the bad camera, and I do possess it. I have Googled the problem, and I noticed that it is a rampant problem with Ford vehicles but I am convinced that they haven't done a recall on the Flex because they stopped making these vehicles in 2019. I have a 15-year-old Chrysler product with 150,000 miles on it and the backup camera works perfectly. Ford seems to recall all of their new and current vehicles for this identical problem but they have no intention of helping me with the cost. I've called them several times and I have a case number with them but the only response that I have gotten, is that there's no recall so they can't do anything about it. Interestingly, when I made the appointment to get it fixed the service guy said he had to check inventory of the cameras because they go through them so quickly. He got back to me and told me that they had just received six more so I could come in right away and get it taken care of. I had it fixed December 15th at Dean Sellers Ford in Troy Michigan. I have taken pictures of the invoice and the bad part but I can't seem to load them on this form
My camera has not worked for at least 2 years. At first it was intermittent. Sometimes working, sometimes dark. Now I have an inverted image 100% of the time.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the rear-view camera failed to operate as needed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where she was given an estimate for the repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed to cover only half of the cost of a replacement camera. The contact stated that parts for the repair were ordered; however, the parts for the repair remained on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
upside down camera- this is a known ford problem, just not linked to my VIN number. Can you please add my VIN so that I can get it fixed.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the steering wheel suddenly jerked to the left causing the vehicle to fishtail and cross the median line. After regaining control of the steering, the driver was able to safely park on the side of the road. While inspecting the vehicle, it was discovered that the rear driver’s side wheel was angled outward and out of position. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer was diagnosed that the rear toe link had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 39,150
1. Rear Camera, yes 2. Unable to see behind car thus unable to see people and/or vehicles. 3. Intermittent 4. No 5. Camera unavailable, camera no signal
Rear back up camera works intermittently. Dealer inspection determined that the camera needs to be replaced. Vehicle is only a couple years old.
Back up camara is intermittent.
Backup Camera functions intermittently. This began at approx 37k miles and 25months of age (vehicle built in June 2019). Backup camera may work, or not, when the vehicle is put in to reverse. This is very similar to the behavior described in other Ford backup camera recalls for other vehicles. Seems like the 2019 Flex should be added. This poses a danger when backing the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact stated that the power liftgate had failed to open manually or electronically while pressing the release button inside the vehicle or with the key fob. A warning message stating that the power liftgate was not closed had been illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign number: 24V951000 (BACK OVER PREVENTION); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that upon shifting the vehicle into reverse(R), the rear-view camera displayed a distorted image, compromising the back-over prevention system. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, the navigation screen showed a black screen and showed half of an image while displayed. No warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. VIN tool confirms part not available.
The contact owns a 2019 Ford Flex. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the engine temperature gauge increased, and the air conditioner would not blow cool air. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who discovered that the engine coolant level was extremely low, and that the water pump was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Recently while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and would not properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local service center who diagnosed that the engine was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 65,000.
2019 Ford Flex Back-up camera either upside or unavailable when the car is put into reverse. Car is available for inspection upon request. The software has been successfully updated multiple times. The camera going out or being upside down when backing up is definitely a safety issue. No inspection has taken place. The car is 5 years old and the camera worked for about the first two years. There were no warning signs for the problem. Thought a recall would be issued.
Rear park aid camera failure. The camera does not always display when reverse is selected. The camera only shows an upside down image when it displays. The camera displays severe vertical lines when dark, virtually making the display useless. This is a safety issue because I cannot see persons or objects behind me if the camera is inoperable. If the camera is operable, with the display upside down, it is disorienting to use as a means of protecting persons or objects behind me as well as protecting my vehicle from damage. I have not taken it to the dealer for this issue, as it began after the warranty period expired. The problem has not been inspected by a dealer, independent service center, the manufacturer, police or insurance representatives. The vehicle has not been recalled for this issue. I find this surprising, given the large number of Ford vehicles which have been recalled for rear camera problems. I also find this to be a somewhat common problem with the Ford Flex across multiple model years, based on viewing of various chat boards found on the internet.
BAD HANKOOK TIRES IN WHICH THEY WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE
There has been a recall on this since January '25 but the view on my rearview camera on my 2019 Flex has been upside down for about FIVE years!!!!

OCCASIONALLY WHEN I AM TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE UNDER THE FRONT END OF MY CAR. I TYPICALLY BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE AND WHEN I AM LINING UP MY CAR TO BACK IN IS MOSTLY WHEN THE NOISE OCCURS. IT IS A LOUD SOUND THAT ALMOST SOUNDS LIKE A POPPING OR SNAPPING. IT DOES NOT MATTER THE TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE, NOR DOES IT MATTER WHETHER IT IS DRY OR WET. IT ISN'T HAPPENING EVERY TIME EITHER. IT IS FRIGHTENING, THOUGH, BECAUSE I HAD A TIE ROD SNAP ON A CAR ONE TIME AND IT ALWAYS MAKES ME THINK OF THAT. I DID TAKE IT TO A FORD GARAGE AND IT DIDN'T MAKE THE SOUND SO THEY DID NOTHING BECAUSE THEY REALLY COULDN'T TELL ME WHAT IT MAY BE. MY CAR IS GARAGE KEPT.

The car is 5 years old and the camera worked for about the first two years. There were no warning signs for the problem. Thought a recall would be issued.
