REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITH TWICE KEY GETS STUCK AND SOME CASES STEERING LOCKS.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BLEW ON THE 2000 FORD FOCUS DUE TO A LEAKING VALVE COVER GASKET.*MR *NM
CONTACT STATES; CONTACT WAS ON FREEWAY AND HEARD A POPPING OR CRACKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END. TRIED TO PUT INTO GEAR, MADE SAME NOISE. HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH DEALER AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRING, CORRISION PROBLEM. DRIVING 65 OR 70, WHEN INCIDENT HAPPENED.
CONSUMER STATED: DEFFECTIVE GAS TANK AND PUMP. DEALER SAID BETWEEN GAS TANK AND GAS PUMP THE SCREW WAS WARPED AND DID NOT MAKE A SEAL. PART WAS PLASTIC AND MANUFACTURED THAT WAY. IT HAS BEEN LEAKING SINCE PURCHASE OF VEHICLE . *AK
HAD IGNITION LOCK UP. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. FOUND OUT ON INTERNET A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE. *AK
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD NOT TURN, TO ALLOW THE CONSUMER TO START THE VEHICLE. JB
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND STOPPED TO GET A DRINK. WHEN SHE GOT BACK INTO THE CAR, THE KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO THE IGNITION. AFTER I LOOKED AT IT, THE KEY WENT IN A BIT FURTHER, BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO TURN THE IGNITION. THE KEY STILL WILL NOT GO IN ALL THE WAY OR TURN.*AK
HAVE A 2000 FORD, FOCUS SE. OCCASIONALLY THE CARS IGNITION WILL LOCK UP. SOMETIMES THE IGNITION WILL TURN AND GAUGES, RADIO WILL WORK, BUT CAR WILL NOT START. IT WILL NOT MAKE ANY SOUNDS, JUST DOES NOT START. HAVING DIFFICULTY EVEN TURNING IGNITION SWITCH. BEEN IN SHOP SEVERAL TIMES, BUT DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL 04-19-05 WHEN THE IGNITION TUMBLER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NEVER HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE ON A 4-5 YEAR OLD CAR. NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. THIS FAILURE VERY OFTEN HAS LEFT ME AND MY 3 YEAR OLD SITTING IN THE CAR IN EXTREME TEMPERATURES UNABLE TO START VEHICLE. CURRENTLY, I AM STUCK WITH A $250 BILL, THAT THE FORD MECHANIC STATED PROBABLY HAD NOTHING E TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING!!!*AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A CATASTROPHIC BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH DRIVER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. DRIVER TRIED TO PUMP THE BRAKES BUT IT DID NOT HELP. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO TOLD THE OWNER THAT THERE WAS NO KNOWN RECALL FOR THIS DEFECT, AND THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. *AK
PE02-044 IS THE INVESTIGATION NUMBER... THIS IS INFORMATION WITH A LINK TO PICTURES TO SHOW HOW LUCKY I WAS NOT TO BE DRIVING. THIS CAN HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING. FORD AGREED TO FIX IT. I HAVE MY TIRE REPLACED AS WELL, HOWEVER THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR INSPECTION. THERE WAS A LETTER SENT, BUT I, AS A SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE USED HAD NO WAY TO KNOW IT WAS A POSSIBILITY. HOW MANY MORE PEOPLE ARE DRIVING THESE CASE AS LEASE TURN INS AND HAVE NO IDEA OF THE POTENTIAL. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL. I WAS LUCKY, IF I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I COULD HAVE BEEN IN TROUBLE. COPY OF MY LETTER TO TRANSPORT CALIFORNIA. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD BOTH MY FRONT SPRINGS FAIL IN MY 2000 FOCUS ZX3. THE RIGHT ONE FAILED AND PUNCTURED THE TIRE. UPON INSPECTION, THE LEFT ONE WAS ALSO SHOWN CRACKED. THE SPRING PENETRATED MY RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND DESTROYED IT AS I REVERSED. WHAT IS CONCERNING ME, IS THERE WAS NEVER A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I AM TRYING TO OBTAIN INFORMATION FROM FORD REGARDING THIS. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND A LETTER FROM FORD REGARDING AN EXTENSION OF WARRANTY FOR SPRINGS FOR 10 YEARS, 150000 MILES.*AK I WAS VERY LUCKY. IF THIS SPRING FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE AFFECT ON STEERING AND CONTROL WOULD HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLE. NOT TO MENTION THE DAMAGE TO THE CAR AFTER WARDS. IF THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE, THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL TO HAVE THESE ITEMS FIXED, NOT JUST REPLACED AFTER FAILURE (I AM NOT SURE IF THEY WILL REPLACE MINE YET). FROZEN IGNITION LOCK, TUMBLERS FALL INTO LOCK SPACE AND PREVENT KEY FROM ENTERING. *AK
DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH CYLINDER, FAILED CYLINDERS RESULTED FROM A SUB STANDARD MANUFACTURED CYLINDER WHICH RAPIDLY DETERIORATES WITH USE AND EVENTUALLY FRACTURES AND JAMS. FORD IS WELL AWARE THAT THESE FRAGILE CYLINDERS ARE MADE OF SUB STANDARD MATERIALS AND ARE BREAKING AND JAMMING AT AN ALARMING RATE. *AK
DT: 2000 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING WHILE DRIVING AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE FOR ABOUT A MILE. STOPPED VEHICLE, GOT OUT, AND THERE WAS A STRONG SMELL, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DETECT FROM WHERE THE SMELL WAS COMING. A COUPLE DAYS LATER WENT TO PARK VEHICLE IN GARAGE AND NOTICED THAT BOTH HEADLIGHTS WERE OUT OF PLACE. UPON INSPECTION NOTED A MELTING OF THE MOUNTS AND HOUSING, AND THE BULB HOLDER WAS LOOSE, SPRING WAS NOT EFFICIENT ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND JARRING. CONSUMER FELT THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE CONSUMER HAD TO DRIVE OVER SEVERAL RAILROAD TRACKS, AND FELT THIS COULD HAVE LOOSENED THESE PARTS. NO REPAIRS DONE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR A PRICING OF THE REPAIRS, WHICH WAS $60 EACH HEADLIGHT, AND DEALER DID NOT SPECIFY WHY THIS OCCURRED. *AK
THE IGNITION LOCK SEIZED. CONSUMER PUT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THE FLOOR SHIFTS WAS STILL IN PARK. CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED HOME BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECT. *AK *BF *NM
DURING A ROUTINE DRIVING, THE FRONT RIGHT SPRING OF MY 2000 FORD FOCUS, SIMPLY BROOK. AS A RESULT, THE FRONT SHOCK WAS TILTED TO THE RIGHT. I HAD TO REPLACE BOTH SPRINGS AND SHOCKS. I WAS VERY LUCKY IT OCCURED WHEN I WAS DRIVING IN THE CITY AT 25 MILES PER HOUR, OTHERWISE I COULD BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. ON NOVEMBER 2004 FORD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THESE FRONT SPRINGS SAYING THAT " PORTION OF THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS MAY NOT HAVE RECEIVED ADEQUATE CORROSION PROTECTION WHICH MAY EVENTUALLY LEAD TO A FRACTURE OF THE SPRING." I HAVE CALLED FORD DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR THE EXPENSES, SAYING THAT IT IS NOT A RECALL. ANY REQUESTS FOR A REFUND WERE DENIDED. PLEASE, I NEED YOUR HELP. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE TRIES TO TURN THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT WON'T TURN. SHE HAS TO HIT IT WITH A MALLET TO GET IT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY ARE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT STATED THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 30,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY 2000 FORD FOCUS'S IGNITION KEY CYLINDER BECAME FROZEN (STEERING WHEEL ALSO LOCKED) AND THE ENTIRE KIGNITION KEY CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 9,902 MILES (6/06/03). TODAY, THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED (LESS THAN TWO YEARS AND 12,000 MILES LATER.) ON 6/13/05 I WILL TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND AGAIN HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE IGNITION KEY CYLINDER (BOTH TIMES I'VE HAD TO PAY FOR EVERYTHING). I GOT NEWS OF YOUR WEBSITE THROUGH A WEBSITE WHICH IS ENTIRELY FILLED WITH ENTRIES FROM OTHER FORD FOCUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME DEFECT. MANY HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THIS CYLINDER 3 AND 4 TIMES. IT SEEMS THE "REPLACEMENT PART" FORD USES IS EXACTLY THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART AS THE CARS ARE BUILT WITH. YOU MAY NOT THINK THIS ISSUE IS SO INSIGNIFICANT BUT REMEMBER, THERE IS A FUEL INJECTION RECALL ON THIS CAR THEY HAVE YET TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO CORRECT AND IF THIS CAR WERE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING, THE OWNER MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO RESTART OR STEER THE CAR IF THE WHEEL LOCKS AND THE KEY IS FROZEN DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE CYLINDER.*AK
THE FRONT SUSPENSION HAS BEEN MAKING POPPING AND GRONING SOUNDS LEADING UP TO THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE VERY LOUD WHEN GOING OVER BUMPY ROAD. THE FAILURE HAPPENED WHEN WE WENT TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOP SIGN. THE LEFT FRONT SPRING BROKE WITH A LOUD BANGING SOUND. THE CAR PULLED SLIGHTLY TO THE RIGHT BUT WAS STILL CONTROLABLE. TO FIX THE PROBLEM WE HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT SPRINGS AND STRUTS. I REPLACED BOTH SIDES OF THE CAR FOR FEAR THAT THE OTHER SIDE WOULD BREAK WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. *AK
I OWE A 2000 FORD FOCUS SE(WAGON ) AND HAVE INCURRED A PROBLEM WITH THE TRUNK LATCH AND DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH. HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL DUE TO VIN EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM WAS THE SAME AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL. ALSO, VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS NOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. I AM SUPPOSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE $456.00 REPAIR FOR THE DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH, AND $148.00 FOR TRUNK LATCH REPAIRS. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR FOR 1 YEAR , THIS WAS THE 4TH FORD, AND THE LAST I WILL EVER PURCHASE. MY COMPLAINT STATED THAT IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON A PART IT SHOULD BE REPLACED AT DEALER'S EXPENSE . IGNITION CYLINDER LOCKED UP. THE KEYS WON'T TURN IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER. HAD TO CALL THE LOCKSMITH AS PER LOCKSMITH ,ITS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD FOCUS 2000/2001 MODELS. AFTER RELEASING ACCELERATOR THE ENGINE RPMS REMAIN AT THE ORIGINAL LEVEL AS IF IT WAS PRESSED IN NETRUAL OR THE CLUTCH IS ENGAGGED. ACCELERATOR IS NOT STICKING. THEN RPM'S ARE NORMAL FOR A TIME WHILE DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN ABOVE 3000 RPMS. *AK
THE FRONT PASSENGER'S WINDOW BEGAN TO WORK OFF AND ON AND THEN FAILED COMPLETLY. THE WINDOW WILL NOT DO ANYTHING NOW. I HAVE NOT REPLACED ANYTHING YET DUE TO FINANCAL DIFFICULTLIES.*AK
2000 FORD FOCUS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH DOOR LATCHES SIMILAR TO THE PROBLEMS STATED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. *MR THE DEALER SPRAY LUBED THE LATCHES AND INSTRUCTED THE CONSUMER TO BUY A SPRAY LUBE FOR HIS OWN USE. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPEN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS. THE DRIVER DOOR WAS UNABLE TO BE CLOSED. THE DOOR MAY FLY OPEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE CONSUMER STATED 3 OF THE DOORS ON THE CAR WON'T OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE.*AK THE VEHICLE HAS DEVELOPED OR CONTAINED A DEFECT IN THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE OWNER TO UNLOCK 3 OF THE DOORS . THIS SITUATION REPRESENTS DANGER TO THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE AUTOMOBILE'S OCCUPANTS. *BF
I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR OVER 3 YEARS NOW AND ALWAYS HAD PROBLEMS INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. ONE DAY, I DROVE THE CAR TO MY FRIEND'S HOUSE AND WAS READY TO LEAVE AND INSERTED THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION. THE KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO THE IGNITION AND THEREFORE, I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ALSO LOCKED. I HAD TO CALL A LOCKSMITH AND HE HAD TO DRILL INTO THE IGNITION TO REMOVE IT AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. HE ALSO HAD TO PROGRAM A NEW KEY. THE LOCKSMITH TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FOCUS. I AM SURPRISED THAT THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL AS OF YET FOR THIS PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT FORD NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR PRODUCT AND ISSUE A RECALL. WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS PROBLEM. BY NOT SOLVING THIS ISSUE, THIS ALLOWS OTHERS TO BENEFIT FROM REPAIR COSTS TO THESE VEHICLES EVERYTIME THEY ARE STRANDED AND HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO TURN TO EXCEPT THE ONLY LOCKSMITH IN THE AREA WHO CAN CHARGE WHATEVER TO REPAIR THE IGNITION.

WHEN KEY IS INSERTED IN THE IGNITION THE KEY WON'T TURN. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES, AND DEALER FIXED IT, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
DRIVING UP FREEWAY ON RAMP , WHILE PRESSING ON ACCELERATOR ENGINE MADE LOUD NOISE. I PULLED TO THE RIGHT EMEREGENCY LANE OPEN THE HOOD. THERE WAS A HOLE ON THE BLOCK OF MY ENGINE. METAL CHUNKS WERE STUCK ON MY RADIATOR . I ALSO PICKED UP METAL PIECES ON THE ON RAMP. WHEN INSPECTED THE DAMAGES AT HOME THE CAMSHAFT ROD THAT HOLDS THE CAM WAS BROKEN. *AK
KEY WON'T FULL SLIDE INTO THE IGNITION LOCK CYNLIDER. AS A RESULT CAN'T START THE CAR. IT APEARS, ONE OR MORE TUMBLERS HAVE FALLEN OUT OF PLACE. AUTO HAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000 MILES. WHEN I HAD A LOCK SMITH LOOK AT THE LOCK, I WAS INFORMED THAT IS WAS A FAIR COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2000-2002 FORD FOCUS MODEL. *AK
IGNITION LOCK, NOTHING LEAD UP TO THE FAILURE ITS AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM WITH THE CARE. MY BROTHER A LOCKSMITH HAS DEALT WITH THIS PROBLEM HALF A DOZEN TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR WITH FORD FOCUS. COULDN'T START CAR HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND THE ENTIRE IGNITION CYLINDER HAD TO BE REPLACED, COSTING A LOT OF MONEY BECAUSE IT REQUIRES THAT ALL THE KEYS BE RECODED AND ALL DOOR LOCKS AS WELL.
RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V030000 CONCERNING REAR DOOR LATCHES. UNABLE TO GET THE DEALER TO HONOR THE RECALL. DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT NO PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE UNTIL MID MAY 2005. *AK
THE IGNITION ON MY 2000 FORD FOCUS IS LOCKING UP TO THE POINT WHERE I CANNOT TURN MY KEY. THE CAR HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS STRANDED FOR 20 MINS THE OTHER NIGHT TRYING TO GET THE KEY TO TURN. SPEND UP TO 1 TO 2 MINUTES NOW EACH TIME I GET IN MY CAR REINSERTING THE KEY UNTIL IT FINALLY TURNS. I HAVE ALSO TRIED MY SPARE KEY, WHICH IS BRAND NEW, WITH SAME RESULTS. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, AND PROBABLY ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL I HAVE TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH.*AK
AFTER FINISHING WORK, I WENT OUT TO MY CAR AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. I TRIED FOR AN HOUR TO GET THE KEY TO TURN BUT IT NEVER DID. SINCE I AM NEW TO THE AREA, AND I DO NOT KNOW ANYONE, I ENDED UP HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD HAVE TO BE DRILLED OUT AND REPLACED. I WAS BILLED $325. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO WHEEL AFTER HITTING CURB CAUSED BY AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. THE WINDSHIELD WAS ALSO SHATTERED. *AK
I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A PARKING LOT IN MY 2000 FORD FOCUS ZTS AND THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED CAUSING ME TO HIT A CURB. THE CAR NEVER CAME TO A STOP AS DOES WHEN NORMAL AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT OCCURS. IN FACT, I NEVER EVEN HIT THE AIRBAGS WHICH IS VERY LUCKY FOR ME, AFTER LOOKING AT OTHER NHTSA COMPLAINTS ABOUT AIR BAG BURNS. WHEN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED, IT SHATTERED THE WINDSHIELD. AND WHEN I WENT OUT TO LOOK AT THE CAR, I COULD SEE NO DAMAGE OTHER THAN THAT CAUSED BY THE AIR BAGS. HOWEVER, THE TOWING COMPANY SAID THERE WAS DAMAGE AROUND THE TIRE WHICH IS THE DAMAGE THAT OCCURRED AFTER THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. WHEN I CONTACTED MY DEALER, THEY SAID THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD'VE DEPLOYED IF I HIT A CURB AND CAME TO A STOP. BUT I DID NOT COME TO A STOP AT ALL. IN FACT, I ALMOST HIT A PARKED VEHICLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND AM EXPECTING A CALL FROM THEIR LEGAL DEPARTMENT BUT I AM EXPECTING THEM TO BLAME EVERYTHING ON ME AND TRY TO TRICK ME INTO BELIEVING IT WAS ALL MY FAULT. IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE. COULD NOT REMOVE OR TURN KEY. HAD TO HAVE CYLINDER REPLACED IN BOTH VEHICLES THAT WE OWN. QUITE COSTLY AND VERY INCONVENIENT.
IGNITION LOCK HAS FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME, THIS TIME AT APPROXIMATELY 65000 MILES. I AM WITHOUT A CAR, AND MY WIFE IS 36 WEEKS PREGNANT.*AK
IGNITION KEY SWITCH WILL SOMETIMES FAIL TO TURN AFTER THE KEY IS INSERTED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FOCUS. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED ME THAT THE PROBLEM WILL GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND THAT THAT HE HAS HAD MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE THEIR VEHICLE TOWED BECAUSE OF THIS. HE ALSO SAID THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT IS NOT REPAIRING THEM AND THAT IT IS A $250 REPAIR. HE STATED IT COULD HAPPEN WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING AND THE KEY WILL NOT COME OUT, OR COULD CAUSE THE IGNITION NOT TO WORK AT ALL. I'VE OWNED MANY CARS. I'VE NEVER HAD THE IGITION KEY CYLINDER "WEAR OUT". *AK
CONSUMER WOULD BE UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY INSIDE THE IGNITION SWITCH. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER ADDS IGNITION IS STUCK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START VEHICLE. BOTH REAR DOORS WILL NOT OPEN DUE TO VEHICLE NOT STARTING. CLOCK SPRING AND STEERING LOCK ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED. *TT
CONSUMER IS UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION WITHOUT EXCESSIVE FORCE BEING USED, REGARDLESS OF LENGTH OF TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN . DEALERSHIP REMOVED THE IGNITION CHAMBER, INSPECTED IT, BUT FOUND NO PROBLEM. ALSO, THEY HAVE LUBRICATED IT. THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK

IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE 3 TIMES AT MILEAGES 41097, 60405, 75504. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED EACH TIME. IGNITION SWITCH WAS DRILLED OUT AND REPLACED EACH TIME. IGNITION SWITCH BOUND UP AND WOULD NOT TURN WITH KEY INSERTED. *AK
FOR THE EVENTS OF THE FINAL FAILURE; I WAS ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT THAT I DID NOT SEE AT FIRST. THOUGH I HAD PLENTY OF ROOM TO STOP MY VEHICLE BEFORE HITTING SOMEONE I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP DUE TO THE BRAKES LOCKING UP. I HAD AT LEAST TWO AND A HALF CAR LENGHTS BETWEEN ME AND THE INTERSECTION. I BELIEVE AS A RESULT IN THE BRAKES LOCKING UP I WAS UNABLE TO STOP AND T-BONED ANOTHER CAR. MY CAR WAS TOTALLED. I HAVE HAD OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES LOCKING UP AND NOTHING WAS DONE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE SERVICE PEOPLE COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO FIX. *AK
THE FAILURE ACCURRED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE KEY WOULD NOT GO INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH THUS NOT ALLOWING US TO START THE CAR IT HAD TO BE TOWED HOME. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH THERE WAS KNOCKING SOUND COMING IN THE ENGINE. THERE WAS ALSO HESITATION WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TWICE AND THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 130,000.
MY REAR DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER OPEN BY SIMPLY PRESSING THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEYPAD OR THE FRONT DOORS. THE REAR DOOR LOCKS CANNOT BE MANUALLY UNLOCKED EITHER. NOTHING WAS DONE TO BRING ON THIS PROBLEM, I JUST WENT TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AND THE BACK DOORS DID NOT UNLOCK. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE REAR DOORS IS TO PRESS THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON THE KEYPAD OR FRONT DOORS AND PULL THE DOOR HANDLE AT THE SAME TIME. THIS IS A PROBLEM FOR BOTH REAR DOORS AND STARTED AT THE SAME TIME. TWO MECHANICS FROM THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. I TRIED CONTACTING A FEW OTHER MECHANICS IN THE AREA WHO TOLD ME THAT FORD SHOULD KNOW WHAT TO DO. UNFORTUNATELY THEY DON'T SO I'M STUCK IN THIS SITUATION UNTIL I CAN FIND SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE. ALSO, I ASKED THE MECHANICS AT FORD IF THIS COULD BE RELATED TO THE DOOR LATCH RECALL AND THEY SAID NO.*AK
IGNITION IN 2000 FORD FOCUS HAS FAILED. WE STARTED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS WITH TURN THE KEY--WE OFTEN EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH TURNING THE KEY TO ON POSITION. THE PROBLEM HAS NOW PROGRESSED AND WE ARE UNABLE TO EVEN TURN THE CAR ON AT ALL. WE ARE TOLD THAT THE IGNITION WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND WE WERE TOLD BY THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURING MORE AND MORE, AND THEY HAVE ALREADY HAD SEVERAL CARS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL COME IN WITH THIS PROBLEM. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THAT IT WILL COST ALMOST $400.00 TO REPLACE THIS PART. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM, AND IT SEEMS THERE ARE PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE US WHO ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE. I CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTLY AND THEY WERE OF NO ASSISTANCE.
