MY HUSBAND AND I WAS A TRIP TO PAINTSVILLE, KY, APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES AWAY FROM HOME. THE CAR BEGAN TO SPIT AND SPUTTER AND PROGRESSIVELY GREW WORST THE FARTHER WE DROVE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WAS STALLING. WE WERE STRANDED IN PAINTSVILLE, KY FOR SEVERAL HOURS.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE IGNITION LOCKED AND WILL NOT TURN WITH THE KEY INSERTED. THE IGNITION INTERMITTENTLY WOULD NOT TURN HOWEVER IF THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE IGNITION WOULD START. IN OCTOBER 2004 THE IGNITION LOCKED, A LOCK SMITH WAS CONTACTED WHO TEMPORARILY CORRECTED THE VEHICLE. AFTERWARDS IN NOVEMBER 2005 THE IGNITION LOCKED AGAIN WHERE IT HAS BEEN PARKED EVER SINCE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS ALERTED AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO ALERT THE MANUFACTURER FOR RECALL INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS CONCERNING THE IGNITION.
ON THE AFTERNOON OF 9/29/2004 I ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO ENGAGE. A LOUD CLANK NOISE HAD OCCURED SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE WHEN DRIVING FORWARD INTO THE DRIVEWAY. I HAD THE VECHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE I WAS TOLD THIS 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH ONLY 32000 MILES REQUIRED A NEW OR REBUILT TRANSMISSION. AFTER READING THE OTHER SEIZED TRANSMISSION COMPLAINTS THAT RESULTED IN CRASHES, I FEEL VERY LUCKY. *AK
IGNITION LOCKED UP IN JUNE, 2003 AND AGAIN SEPTEMBER, 2004. BOTH TIMES, THE IGNITION HAD TO BE DRILLED OUT, A REPLACEMENT IGNITION SWITCHED INSTALLED, THE CAR HAD TO BE REKEYED. WHEN IGNITION LOCKED, UNABLE TO TURN KEY. CAR WAS IN PARK BOTH TIMES INCIDENT OCCURRED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING PASSENGER 'S SIDE DOOR OPENED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE DOOR LATCH WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LATCH. *AK *NM
ON 09/26/04 OPENED THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR OF MY 2000 FORD FOCUS SEDAN TO PLACE SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT. I CLOSED THE DOOR AND PROCEEDED TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE AWAY. IT WAS THEN I NOTICED THE DOOR AJAR LIGHT ON AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. FOUND THE DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH. THE LATCH WOULD LOCK SOMETIMES IF PUSHED WITH MY FINGER BUT NOT WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR NORMALLY. AT THAT POINT I DROVE HOME WITH MY SON HOLDING THE DOOR CLOSED UNTIL WE COULD USE A BUNGEE CORD TO HOLD IT SHUT. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY AT ELYRIA FORD IN ELYRIA, OHIO BEING REPAIRED. I HAVE CALLED FORD MOTOR CO AND FILED A COMPLAINT ALSO AFTER INVESTIGATING ON THE INTERNET AND FINDING THAT A PROBE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED INTO FAILING DOOR LATCHES ON 2000 FORD FOCUS THE VIN NO IS [XXX], MFG DATE 02/00. CONSUMER STATED IGNITION LOCKED. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. *AK
VEHICLE WAS IDLING IN A PARKING LOT AND A FIRE STARTED UNDER HOOD. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS QUICKLY ENGULFED, AND THE CAR WAS LEFT UNRECOGNIZABLE WITHIN 5 MINUTES. THREE OTHER VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEED ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THEN, VEHICLE STALLED, AND CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT PROBLEM PERTAINED TO THE HEAD GASKET VALVE FAILURE. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK
2000 FORD FOCUS SE, KEY WILL NOT GO INTO IGNITION. CAN NOT START CAR.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE LIKE AIR PLANE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED WHEEL BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. CONSUMER INDICATED SHE WAS STILL WAITING FOR DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE THE WHEEL BEARING. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS FRONT COIL SPRING SNAPPED. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM.*AK
IGNITION KEY WILL NOT TURN, SUBSEQUENTLY I WAS STRANDED AS I COULD NOT START THE CAR. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 3 WEEKS AGO, WISH SOMEONE HAD TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE FOR THESE VEHICLES. CAR WAS BOUGHT FOR OUR DAUGHTER TO USE FOR SCHOOL, WE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FOR RELIABILITY NOW HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HER GETTING STRANDED SOMEWHERE.*AK
IGNITION ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND LEFT TO SIT FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. UPON RETURN, THE KEY COULD NOT BE FULLY INSERTED INTO THE IGNITION. MY 3-YEAR-OLD SON AND I WERE STRANDED. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED ABOUT 7 MILES TO THE DEALER. DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION ASSEMBLY AT A COST OF ABOUT $348. THE OLD PART IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND KEY WON'T TURN IN IGNITION. *AK
KEY WILL NOT TURN THE IGNITION SWITCH! THIS HAS HAPPEN SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A FEW YEARS, USUALLY FIXING ITSELF. THIS LAST TIME, NOTHING WILL FIX IT. I AM CHECKING COSTS NOW TO REPLACE THE WHOLE MECHANISM. *AK
LEFT FRONT SUSPENSION SPRING FRACTURED INSIDE THE SLEEVE AT ONE COIL FROM THE BOTTOM. FRACTURED END OF THE SPRING WAS FORCED AGAINST THE TIRE, DAMAMGING THE TIRE. THIS IS THE SECOND OEM COIL SPRING TO FRACTURE ON THIS CAR, REFERENCE ODI CONFIRMATION NUMBER 10030978 DESCRIBING THE FRACTURE OF THE RIGHT FRONT COIL SPRING. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL ON THESE SPRINGS? WHY HASN'T FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SATISFATION PROGRAM 03M02 BEEN EXTENDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2000MY FOCUS INSTEAD OF COVERING ONLY FOCUS'S BUILT UP TP DECEMBER 1999?*AK
THE CONSUMER PLACED THE KEY INSIDE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT THE SWITCH FAILED TO TURN. THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
PURCHASED NEW SEPT 2000 @ 13 MILES FEB 2003 IGNITION SWITCH FROZE, @ 25,375 MILES REPLACED UNDER 36/36K WARRANTY. SEPT 2004 IGNITION SWITCH FROZE @ 45,150 MILES REPLACED BY FORD AND PAID BY OWNER FOR $354.00. IN EACH CASE I WAS STRANDED AND HAD TO PAY FOR TOWING AND A RENTAL CAR. FORD KEEPS REPLACING THE SWITCH WITH A FAULTY SWITCH. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JB
WENT TO LOCK DOORS USING POWER DOOR LOCKS, POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM FAILED. RESEARCH ON INTERNET SHOWED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AMUNG OWNERS OF FORD FOCUS. REPLACEMENT OF FUSE AND CHECKING OF LOCKING SYSTEM. 20 MINUTES OF RESEARCH ON GOOGLE WITH FORD FOCUS FUSE 63 RETURNED MANY RESULTS WHERE OWNERS HAVE DOCUMENTED THIS PROBLEM AND OTHERS HAVE INQUIRED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM.*AK
THE IGNITION LOCK IS HARD TO TURN AND HARD TO REMOVE THE KEY. YOU HAVE TO JIGGLE THE KEY TO GET IT TO WORK. IT HAS NEARLY LEFT ME STRANDED SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS QUOTED A PRICE TO FIX IT AT $300. I HAVE YET TO FIX IT DUE TO FINANCAL DIFFICULTIES.*AK

HEADLIGHTS/RADIO AND ELECTRICAL PARTS WOULD COME ON AND OFF ON THEIR OWN. CONSUMER DROVE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM
CONSUMER STATED DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT LOCKED. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO FASTEN SEAT BELT.*AK
THE INGITION CYLINDER OF MY 2000 FORD FOCUS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP. FORD HAS DONE NOTHING TO COMPENSATE FOR THE COST INCURRED DURING REPAIR. THIS IS A HIGHLY DOCUMENTED DEFECT AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL.
MY IGNITION CYLINDER LOCKS, I.E. I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND IT WILL NOT TURN. I HAD THE IGNITION CYLINDER REPLACED 9 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED. CANNOT START MY CAR.*AK
I OWN A 2000 FORD FOCUS. I NOTICED THAT SOMETIMES THE TRUNK WOULDNT LATCH SO I WOULD HAVE TO GO BACK AND TRY IT AGAIN. THROUGH TIME IT EVENTUALLY WOULDNT LATCH SHUT AT ALL. I WAS THEN UNABLE TO LOCK MY TRUNK COMPLETELY. IN THE PROCESS OF ALL OF THIS SOMEHOW MY TRUNK HOOD GOT BENT. I ASSUME THAT SINCE THE LATCH WAS BROKEN,EVERYTIME I TRIED TO SHUT THE TRUNK IT BENT THE HOOD SLIGHTLY. TO FIX THE PROBLEM I HAD TO PURCHASE A NEW TRUNK MECHANISM AND INSTALL IT MYSELF. I QUOTED THE COST TO FIX IT AT A REPAIR SHOP, AND IT CAME UP TO OVER $100. DOING IT MYSELF SAVED ME ABOUT $20.
FORD FOCUS 2000 STEERING COLUMN LOCKS UP... KEY WILL NOT TURN, STERRING COLUMN IS LOCKED UP TIGHT AND THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO START. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES. I HAVE MANAGED TO START IT WITH MUCH FRUSTRATION AND TIME SPENT. NOW I CAN NOT GET IT GOING AT ALL.
1) NOISE COMING FROM RIGHT FRONT 2) BOTH FRONT SPRINGS AND STRUTS HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE RIGHT FRONT SPRING HAD BROKEN AND CUT THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE DOWN THE MIDDLE (WHICH ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED). THE SPRING ALSO BENT THE STRUT.*AK 3) ALL OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE - SEE #2 FOR WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT FAILURE. REPAIRS HAD TO BE MADE ON AN EMERGENCY BASIS.
CONSUMER PLACED THE KEY INSIDE THE IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY WOULD NOT START THE VEHICLE. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND REPLACED IT. *AK
FRONT COIL SPRING BROKE, LEADING TO TIRE PUNCTURE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE, AND HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
FROM WHAT I CAN UNDERSTAND ABOUT RECALLS ON FORD FOCUS MODELS, THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE ISSUES OF WHEEL BEARINGS. THE LAST TIME I VISITED A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE THIS RECALL WAS NOT MENTIONED AS NEEDING TO BE DONE OR AS TAKEN CARE OF ON THE SERVICE TICKET, SO I ASSUMED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF. HOWEVER, ON A VISIT TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC, HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD NEED NEW WHEEL BEARINGS IN THE NEAR FUTURE. SO FROM THIS I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE PROBLEM WAS TAKEN CARE OF ONCE AND NOW HAS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF AGAIN. AND THIS IS ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 73,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE IS 2000 FOCUS ZX3 5 SPEED. ALSO THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT USED IN DEC. 2003 WITH 49,000 MILES ON THE ODOM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *AK
FAULTY IGNITION CYLINDER, SECOND REPLACEMENT IN 18 MONTHS. 1ST TIME IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN & KEY STUCK. 2ND TIME CAR WOULD NOT TURN OVER, SERVICE TECH CLAIMS COMPONENTS INSIDE WERE BROKEN. *AK
VEHICLE MAKES A LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING. THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE TIRE IS WORE OUT. CONSUMER FOUND A RECALL ON LUGS AN BOLTS. DEALER STATED WHEEL BEARINGS WORE OUTPREMATURELY. *AK
IGNITION SYSTEM HAS FAILED FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 40,000 MILES - I CAN INSERT THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION AND TURN IT THROUGH THE FIRST THREE POSITION, BUT CANNONT TURN IT INTO THE START POSITION. BOTH PREVIOUS FAILURES WHERE REPAIRED AT FORD DEALERSHIPS WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF THE IGNITION CYLINDER. *AK
I PARKED MY CAR AND SHUT IT OFF. WHEN I CAME BACK TO START MY CAR I COULD PUT THE KEY IN, BUT NOT TURN IT. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY NEW OF THE ISSUE AND THE SERVICE MANGER TOLD ME THE FOLLOWING INFO IT IT:*AK IT IS DESIGNED SO BADLY THAT EVEN A PERFECTLY NEW ONE CAN JAM. IN MOST LOCK CYLINDERS THE TUMBLERS ARE PUSHED BY SPRINGS TO LOCK AGAINST AN OUTER SLEEVE, AND THE KEY PUSHES THEM BACK IN. WITH THE FOCUS THEY ADDED A LOCKING BAR AS 90 DEGREES TO THE TUMBLERS, AND THAT IS WHAT LOCKS THE SLEEVE INSTEAD OF THE TUMBLERS. THE PROBLEM IS THERE IS NO SOLID CONNECTION BETWEEN THE KEY AND THIS LOCKING BAR. IT IS ONLY PUSHED BY THE TINY TUMBLER SPRINGS, WICH EASILY JAM. SO THE ONLY CURRENT PERMENANT SOLUTION IS TO REMOVE ALL THE TUMBLERS. BUT SINCE THEY CANNOT DO THIS, THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THEM AS THEY COME IN, BUT THEY STILL BREAK AFTER REPLACEMENT AT MY COST OF ALMOST $500.00. IF FORD KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE WHY DO THEY NOT FIX THIS!
IGNITION LOCK BROKEN. STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND KEY CANNOT GO ALL THE WAY INTO THE IGNITION. CANNOT START CAR. *AK
BELOW IS THE EMAIL I JUST SENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT MY CAR NEW. YESTERDAY WE TALKED ABOUT THE REPLACEMENT OF MY FRONT SPRINGS AND STRUTS ON MY 2000 FOCUS, VIN#[XXX], AS MY PASSENGER SIDE FRONT SPRING BROKE. OBVIOUSLY, I THINK WE BOTH FEEL THAT THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN WITH ONLY 41,655 MILES ON THE CAR. I WENT ON LINE AND DISCOVERED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND IN FACT A REPLACEMENT PROGRAM, 03M02, WAS INITIATED TO DEAL WITH IT BUT MINE IS NOT ONE OF THE VIN'S AFFECTED. I CALLED FORD THIS MORNING AND THEY ARE FORWARDING MY REPORT TO THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT. THEY INDICATED THAT THEY WERE IN SOME WAY GOING TO BE CONTACTING THE LOFINK SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT THE VEHICLE. WOULD YOU LET ME KNOW, AS SOON AS YOU RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION FROM THEM, IF THEY ARE OFFERING ANY ADJUSTMENT TO ME FOR THE APPROXIMATE $359 COST ESTIMATE YOU GAVE ME. ALSO, WHAT WOULD BE THE TOTAL COST OF: (1)REPLACING JUST THE ONE SPRING OR (2) BOTH SPRINGS WITHOUT REPLACING THE STRUTS AT THIS TIME IN EITHER CASE. I AM OUT-OF-STATE IN A LARGE CITY AND YESTERDAY MY KEY WOULD GO INTO THE IGNITION, BUT WOULD NOT TURN. I HAD TO LEAVE MY CAR OVERNIGHT IN A FAIRLY BAD NEIGHBORHOOD. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF REPORTS ON THIS SITE ABOUT THE SAME THING GOING WRONG IN THE FOCUS. I AM HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP TODAY AND WILL HAVE TO PAY A HOLIDAY FEE BECAUSE TODAY IS A HOLIDAY AND IN THE MEAN TIME HAVE NO FORM OF TRANSPORTATION. I WILL HAVE TO RENT A CAR TOMORROW (THE RENTAL CAR PLACES ARE CLOSED FOR THE HOLIDAY). I JUST WENT ON A 4,000 MILE TRIP, SOME OF WHICH WENT THROUGH VERY DESOLATE PARTS OF NEVADA--WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED THEN??? I HAD NO CELL RECEPTION IN MOST OF THAT AREA. IF FORD DOESN'T THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY ARE WRONG. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACED DUE TO ITS FAILURE. LUCKILY, IT WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL. BECAUSE OF THE IGNITION PROBLEM, I WILL INCURE A TOWING BILL, THE REPAIR BILL, AND A RENTAL CAR FEE, NOT TO MENTION THE HUGE INCONVENIENCE AND STRESS. I EXPECT THE TOTALLY COST TO BE $500+. I HOPE THAT FORD RECALLS THIS PROBLEM, AS I DO THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THEY NEED TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO DO SO. IF THEY DON'T CHANGE THEIR WAYS, I WILL SURELY NEVER BUY A FORD VEHICLE AGAIN.*AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED IN NHTSA RECALL 03V482000 CONCERNING FUEL PUMP FAILURE. IN SOME VEHICLES, CONTAMINATION OF THE FILTER IN THE FUEL DELIVERY MODULE (FDM) CAN REDUCE, AND EVENTUALLY BLOCK, THE FLOW OF FUEL TO THE ENGINE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED TO THE CONSUMER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
UPON ENTERING AND EXITING THE VEHICLE THE DOOR LOCKS BECAME INOPERABLE. ON THE RIGHT REAR DOOR CONSUMER HAD TO PRESS THE LOCK FROM THE INSIDE, WHICH WAS INOPERABLE. ON THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER'S SIDE CONSUMER HAD TO USE THE KEY, WHICH ALSO BECAME INOPERABLE. CONSUMER CONTACTED FORD DEALER, AND MANUFACTURER. *AK
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS MY DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR WOULD ENGAGE SPORADICALLY. AT TIMES IT WOULD NOT ENGAGE AT ALL. FINALLY, THE DOOR OPENED WHILE I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND WHILE MY THREE CHILDREN WERE OCCUPYING THE BACK SEATS! FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS HURT BECAUSE WE USE SEAT BELTS. THE INTERIOR LATCH MECHANISM WAS REPLACED AT OUR EXPENSE (276.18); HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC SAID TO KEEP OUR RECEIPTS BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN MANY SUCH CASES AND IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. TO DATE IT HAS NOT, AND IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS. DOORS NOT LATCHED PROPERLY AND SWINGING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. *BF RIGHT DOOR STICKING AS WELL. CONSUMER UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THE RISK OF DOOR SWINGING OPEN. *TC
THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THIS FAILURE IS POSSIBLE RELATED TO RECALL 03N01. *NM RECALL NUMBER NUMBER (03V482000) THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE EXPERIENCED ENGINE PROBLEMS (ENGINE HESITATION, LOSS OF POWER, AND SURGING)AS A RESULT OF A FAULTY FUEL PUMP. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MINIMIZE THE PROBLEMS BY KEEPING THE FUEL TANK 3/4 TO FULL AS SET FORTH IN THE NOTICE. *TC
AT 77,230 THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS WORN AND ABOUT TO BREAK. ALSO A WEEK OR TWO LATER AT 77,300 MILES THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP THINKS THAT A HOUSING RING CAME LOOSE AND WELDED ON THE CYLINDER. THE ENGINE WAS INSTALLED, BUT DID RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SHIPPED TO THE FACTORY FOR FURTHER SERVICE. *JB
UPON TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. IT TOOK THE CONSUMER NUMEROUS TRIES TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED. *NM THE CONSUMER REMEMBERED RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO READ THE RECALL SHE DISCOVERED THAT IT DESCRIBED THAT EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT SHE HAD EXPERIENCED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH ON CITY LIMITS CONSUMER'S VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA RECALL 00V303000. PASSENGER VEHICLES. THE REAR WHEEL HUB RETAINING NUTS CAN LOOSEN AND ALLOW THE LEFT REAR WHEEL AND BRAKE DRUM ASSEMBLY TO SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
I HAVE HAD THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK AND KEY UNABLE TO TURN TWICE NOW. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED IN FEBRUARY 2003. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS TOLD THE STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED AND RE-KEYED. IT COST $867 TO FIX. EVEN THOUGH IT WAS "FIXED", I STILL HAD TO WIGGLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO GET THE KEY TURNED WHICH AT TIMES TOOK A FEW MINUTES. NOW A YEAR AND A HALF LATER, THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. I CAN'T GET THE KEY TO TURN AT ALL. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AFTER A YEAR AND THAT FORD WAS A "REAL STICKLER ON THEIR WARRANTIES" AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT AGAIN. JUST A NOTE - AFTER ONLY A YEAR AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, IT SQUEAKED LIKE CRAZY ANYTIME I USED THE BRAKES. EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, THE CAR STILL SQUEAKS.*AK
