WHILE DRIVING AT 35/40 MPH , VEHICLE PULLED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE ENTIRE RIGHT FRONT SUSPENSION SEPARATING FROM THE VEHICLE WHICH INCLUDED THE AXLE, TIE ROD, AND WHEELS. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE TOOK IN FOR BRAKES AND ROTORS, 3 MONTHS LATER SAME THING, TWO MONTHS FOLLOWING IGNITION LOCKED ALONG WITH A/C NOT WORKING NEED ANOTHER LINING, RIGHT NOW IGNITION IS TRYING TO LOCK AGAIN NEEDS CALIPERS BRAKES ROTORS CAR IS STALLING MECHANIC JUST MADE ME AWARE THAT THE TWO TIRES ON THE RIGHT HAS FOUR LUG WHEELS TWO TIRES ON THE LEFT HAS FIVE LUG WHEELS. THE CAR SOUNDS HORRIBLE NO MONEY TO REPAIR ALL THESE PROBLEMS FELL LIKE I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT'S NOT EVEN DRIVABLE FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING OR DEALER STILL COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY I BELIEVE DEEP IN MY HEART THEY SOLD ME A LEMON I KNOW THERE'S NO WAY A CAR SHOULD HAVE FOUR, FIVE LUGS IT MEANS THAT THEY SALVAGE THE CAR THREW IT BACK TOGETHER AND HAD IT SITTING WAITING FOR THE FIRST SUCKER! ME BUT I'M GOING TO TRY TO FIGHT THIS ALL THE WAY NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES. DT *TR

I NOTICED THE DOORS SQUEAKING SOON AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. THE NOISE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER THE NEXT YEAR. THE DEALERSHIP BRUSHED OFF MY QUESTIONS TELLING ME THE DOORS JUST NEEDED GREASE. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS UP THEY TELL ME IT WILL COST $405.00 FOR THEM TO FIX. THE DOORS HAVE NOT SQUEAKED FOR OVER A YEAR, NOW THEY DON'T LOCK AND BOTH REAR DOORS FLY OPEN WHEN I TAKE A CORNER SO I KEEP THEM TIED SHUT WITH BUNGEE CORDS AND ROPES. ALL THE JUNK I USED TO KEEP IN THE BACK SEAT IS NOW GONE, IT FLEW OUT OF THE CAR WHILE I WAS GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. THANK GOD I DIDN'T HAVE PASSENGERS. I HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE GAS GAUGE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR, AND THE IGNITION LOCKED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER KNEW WHAT KIND OF CAR I HAD BEFORE I TOLD HIM-HE SAID THEY PICK UP A FEW FORD FOCUS'S EVERY WEEK DUE TO THE IGNITION PROBLEMS. I HAVE ALSO GONE THROUGH BRAKES AND TIRES AT AN ALARMING RATE. THE ACCUMULATION OF BRAKE DUST ON THE FRONT PANELS IS UNREAL ALL I DO NOW IS WASH THIS CAR AND WRITE CHECKS TO PAY FOR REPAIRS. *LA

THE VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING AT EVERY STOP LIGHT OR INTERSECTION WHEN BRAKING. THE OWNER MANAGED TO TURN AROUND AND DRIVE BACK TO HER HOUSE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. PLEASE DESCRIBE DETAILS. TS
DRIVER FELT A VIBRATION AND HEARD A LOUD POP THEN THE VEHICLE SWEREVED TO THE RIGHT AND HIT A BRIDGE. AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND SHOWED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD BROKEN ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
THE CONSUMER PLACE THE KEY INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T START. THE VEHICLE HAD THREE IGNITION SWITCH PUT ON PRIOR. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TS
WHEN THE CAR HAD 15000 MILES ON IT AND STILL UNDER WARRANTY THE THIRD GEAR WAS MAKING A GRINDING SOUND. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED IT. 30,000 MILES LATER( MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES) THIRD GEAR STARTED MAKING THE SAME SOUND AGAIN.THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD COST ME 900 DOLLARS TO FIX IT SINCE IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY ANYMORE. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THE TRANSMISSION, AND ONLY THIRD GEAR IN A MANUAL FIVE SPEED IS ONLY GOOD FOR 30,000 MILES, MOST OF WHICH IS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIRD GEAR IS NOT USED MUCH.I BELIEVE THAT IS A DEFECT WITH THE CAR ITSELF.
MY WIFE WHO IS 7 MONTHS PREGNANT WHO ALSO HAD MY 5 YEAR OLD SON WITH HER, WAS PROCEEDING ON THE I-210 WHEN OUR 2000 FORD FOCUS SUDDENLY STALLED GOING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THERE WERE MANY CARS BEHIND HER AND KEEPING HER WITS ABOUT HER PULLED THE CAR INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE, NARROWLY MISSING BEING REAR ENDED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE CAR RE-STARTED AND SHE WAS ABLE TO GET TO A PHONE AND CALL ME FOR ASSITANCE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR MOVING, I WAS NOTICING A STALLING AS WELL.

ENGINE STARTS TO STALLS WHEN COMMING TO A STOP. THEY CLAIM IT NEEDS A NEW CYLINDER HEAD.
AIR HAS NOT WORKED PROPERLY FROM PURCHASING THE CAR NEW. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN WA STATE AND HAVE MOVED TO OHIO. I AM NOW TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEMS STARTED PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRING, SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM ANOTHER DEALER, I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR ANY FUTURE PROLEMS MYSELF. FUEL, FORD KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM, AND REFUSES TO TELL ME IF THE NEW FUEL PUMP I HAD THEM PUT IN IS AN OLD PUMP OR A NEW ONE WITHOUT THE PROBLEMS. OTHER, EXHAUST LEAK, I WAS TOLD I HAD AN EXHAUST LEAK, BUT THE ENGINE STILL SOUNDS VERY KNOCKY. I AM 4TH GENERATION FORD, MY SISTER WAS ALSO AND NOW BUYS ANYTHING BUT FORD, THIS WILL ALSO BE MY LAST FORD, BUT ANY CASH BACK WOULD BE GREAT AFTER BUYING THE MOST EXPENSIVE PIECE OF JUNK I HAVE EVER HAD.
BRAKES REPLACED BUT CONTINUE TO SQUEAL FRONT SUSPENSION COLLAPSED CAUSING CRASH.
FUEL SYSTEM: VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL AT A GAS STATION. DRIVER WENT TO LEAVE, CAR DID NOT START. ATTENDANT INFORMED DRIVER THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM VEHICLE. ALMOST A FULL TANK OF FUEL DUMPED ONTO PAVEMENT. FIRE DEPARTMENT SHOWED UP AND TOWED VEHICLE AWAY. APPARENT PROBLEM: FUEL HOSE LINKAGE HAD COME LOOSE AND HAD FALLEN OFF FROM INSIDE THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE. OTHER: THROTTLE CABLE BREAKAGE IN HEAVY TRAFIC AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED. DRIVER MEANWHILE MERGING WITH TRAFFIC. BREAKAGE RESULTING IN QUICK DECELERATION. SERIOUS ACCIDENT NARROWLY AVOIDED. CAR WAS UNFORTUNATELY OUT OF WARRANTY PERIOD, BUT FORD PAID FOR THE REPAIR. TOWING CHARGE WAS NOT REIMBURSED.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE THERE WAS A SWAY/SHIFT IN THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE AS SHE WAS CROSSING A BRIDGE, WHICH CAUSED A LOSS OF CONTROL. *NLM SCC
THE BATTERY CABLE (PART #14301) SHORTED OUT, CAUSING THE CAR NOT TO START AS WELL AS OTHER MINOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES. I FOUND THE PART WAS RECALLED FOR MY VEHICLE(NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 02V288000), AND CONTACTED FORD. THEY HAD SAID THAT THE CAR/PART WAS NOT COVERED BY THE RECALL SINCE MY CAR WAS MADE IN NOV 99, AND THE RECALL ONLY COVERS CARS MADE AFTER JAN 2000. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE IT KNOW THAT I EXPERIENCED (AND PAID FOR) THE FAILURE AND SUGGEST THAT EARLIER MADE CARS MAY BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. DT

CONSUMER WAS EXITING A PARKING GARAGE AND PLACED VEHICLE IN REVERSE. WITHOUT WARNING, CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND REAR TAIL SPUN AROUND 2 TIMES THEN HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. CONSUMER DID APPLY BRAKES WITH NO SUCCESS. PH INSURANCE COMPANY INFORMED DEALERSHIP THAT THERE WERE TWO RECALLS THAT DEALT WITH A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE AND SPEED CONTROL WHICH WAS NOT PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT. OTHER PROBLEMS INCLUDED WEEZING NOISE WHILE TURNING. POWER STEERING RACKED FAILED AND REPLACED. LACK OF POWER STEERING IN STEERING WHEEL. REAR BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT. REAR WHEEL BEARING NOISE. DEFECTIVE WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED. TIRE PUNCTURED AND REPLACED. HESITATION ON ACCELERATION. FUEL PUMP AND GASKET REPLACED. TIRES ROTTED OUT. KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, ONLY GOING AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED, 50-70 MPH. I CAN PULL OVER AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE GAS TANK IS AT 1/4 OR LESS, IT'S NOT OUT OF GAS, I CAN GO ANOTHER 50 MILES WITHOUT FILLING UP AT SPEEDS OF UNDER 50 MPH. ONCE I FILL THE GAS TANK BACK UP, IT DOESN'T STALL AGAIN UNTIL THE GAS TANK GOES BELOW 1/4. IS THERE A RECALL COMING UP ON THIS ISSUE? DT

CONSUMER STATES THAT HE HAS HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ON A RECALL NUMBER 011017000 BEFORE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH MY 2000 FOCUS. FORD HAS NOT BEEN WILLING TO FIX ANY PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT THAT I'M OUT OF MY WARRANTY. MY POWER STEERING SWITCH HAS WENT OUT 2 TIMES AND WHEN I TAKE IT BACK NOW THERE TELLING ME IT WASN'T THE SWITCH, ITS THE PUMP. SINCE THAT'S OUT OF WARRANTY THEY CAN'T REFUND MY MONEY OR ANYTHING. FORD HAS A RECALL ON LEFT WHEEL BEARINGS, BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR MINE TO BE DONE, BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS IN 2001 AND MY BEARINGS DID NOT GO BAD UNTIL 2002. THERE IS TOO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH THE FORD FOCUS. I HAVE NEVER SEEN A CAR IN WHICH I HAD TO FIX EVERY 5 MONTHS. THE CURRENT ISSUE IS THAT THE CAR IS STALLING. IN IDLE IT WILL GET A POINT WHERE IT WILL CUT OFF. WHEN SHIFTING TO DIFFERENT GEARS, IT HESITATES. THE CAR IS SHAKING LIKE IT WILL EVENTUALLY CUT OFF. IT HAS CUT OFF 3 TIMES AND THE EMISSION/ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DT
ON 2 OCCASIONS IN LAST WEEK VEHICLE COMPLETELY STOPPED WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHILE DRIVING IN HEAVY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. ALL ELECTRIC SYSTEMS FAILED. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN. FIRST FAILURE, BATTERY REPLACED; CHARGING SYSTEM CHECKED BUT SEEMED OK. FIVE DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY REPLACED. AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR ON HIGHWAY NOW, FOR FEAR IT WILL SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AT HIGH SPEED. I WAS VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. DT

2000 FORD FOCUS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE.*MR THE CONSUMER STATED THE ENGINE DIED REPEATEDLY WHEN IT WAS STARTED AND IN NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE DIED AT COLD ENGINE TEMPERATURE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS ENGAGED, IT ALSO SURGED AND BUCKED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND HESITATED DURING ACCELERATION. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND AFTER A FEW MORE VISITS THE DEALER REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONETS SUCH AS THE IGNITION COIL AND THE AIR INTAKE TUBE, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE ENGINE PROBLEMS. *JB

BOTH FRONT ROTORS WERE CUPPED AND TAPERED, THE DEALER SUGGESTED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE TOO HARD FOR THE ROTORS WHICH CAUSED UNUSUAL WEAR. IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS, 27,736 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED 6-8 TIMES, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. NLM
THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE GEARS ONCE YOU LEAVE A GEAR AND GO INTO NEUTRAL (MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS). TWICE I HAD THE CAR STOPPED TRAFFIC, CAUSING MANY DISRUPTIONS AND A DANGEROUS SITUATION. EVEN IF YOU TURN THE CAR OFF, YOU CAN NOT CHANGE GEARS. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I TRIED, I COULD NOT ENGAGE ANY GEAR (1-5 OR REVERSE). IF I WAIT ABOUT A HALF HOUR, THEN IT WILL ENGAGE AGAIN. I HAD THE PROBLEM CHECKED OUT BY FORD TWICE. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER, BUT THAT HAS NOT FIXED IT. THEY SAY THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. I DID A SEARCH ON VARIOUS FORD FOCUS WEBSITES AND DISCOVERED THAT MANY OTHER FOCUS OWNERS ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEIR CARS AS WELL. DT

DURING WHEEL ALIGNMENT MECHANIC NOTICED THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. BOTH FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. TS
THIS CAR HAS MORE RECALLS THAN I EVER SEEN. THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND GAVE ME SECOND DEGREE BURNS. THE BRAKES ARE SHOT AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH I ONLY HAVE 29,940 MILES. THE KEYLESS ENTRY DOES NOT WORK EVEN THOUGH ITS BEEN FIXED 2 TIMES THE IGNITION LOCKED UP AND THEY CHANGE IT THE AIR CONDITIONER LEAKS BUT THEY SAY ITS FINE. MR
CAR IS ONLY 2YRS,8MO. HAVE CURRENTLY EXPENDED OVER $4000.00 ON REPAIRS. PROBLEM WITH SEALS ALLOWING FUMES IN CAR FROM OTHER VEHICLES RUNNING BESIDE MINE. THE NOISE AND WIND SHEAR LEVEL IS VERY UNSATISFACTORY. SQUEAL NOISE AND THUMPING FEELING FROM PRESSING ON BRAKE PEDAL. HESITATION ON ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC FLOW. POOR QUALITY ON PARTS AND WORKMANSHIP FROM MANUFACTURER
