COULD NOT REMOVE IGNITION KEY NOR START THE VEHICLE. COMPLETE IGNITION KEY FAILURE. *JB
MY IGNITION LOCKED UP AND I WAS STRANDED IN A PARKING LOT AFTER PURCHASING A 2002 FORD, FOCUS LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. I HAD TO HITCH A RIDE HOME BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR A TOW. THE NEXT DAY, I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A FORD DEALER FOR REPAIRS. EVIDENTLY THIS WAS A MAJOR PROBLEM, PEOPLE GETTING STRANDED DUE TO A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED. WHO IS MAKING THE FORTUNE ON ALL THESE PART REPLACEMENTS???? IS IT FORD???? WHO MAKES THESE FAULTY IGNITIONS???? THEY ARE PROBABLY STILL MAKING A FORTUNE AND STILL MAKING THESE BAD PARTS. THIS COULD RESULT IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. PLEASE GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED!*AK

WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE BATTERY CABLE MELTED AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. A WEEK PRIOR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND SMOKE HAD COME FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FOURTH GEAR WENT OUT BECAUSE IT'S WIRE CONNECTION MELTED. THE CONSUMER FELT THE FAILURES WERE DUE TO THE ENGINE MISPLACED CABLE PROBLEM AS STATED IN RECALL 02V288000. *AK *SC *JB
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2002 FORD FOCUS IGNITION. EVERY TIME I PUT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION IT WILL GO IN, BUT THE KEY WILL NOT TURN. I NEED TO SEE WHAT I NEED TO DO TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I HAVE NOT REPLACED ANYTHING YET BECAUSE I WAS HOPING THEY WOULD CONSIDER A RECALL ON THIS PART. SO FAR I HAVE JUST BEEN FORCING MY KEY TO TURN AND ON APRIL 13, 2005 IT HAPPENED SO I WENT AND GOT SOME KEYS MADE AND IT STILL WOULD NOT WORK. THE NEXT DAY ABOUT 45 MINUTES OF WORK IT FINALLY TURNED AND GOT STARTED UP. FOR RIGHT NOW I AM LEAVING A KEY IN THE IGNITION TO KEEP UP FROM GETTING STUCK AGAIN.*AK
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL WENT FLYING OFF CAR. NO TROUBLE PRIOR TO THIS DATE. THE BEARINGS WERE REPLACED WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN IN FOR REPAIR.
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT AN IGNITION. PROBLEM. OWNER HAD PARKED VEHICLE AND WENT INSIDE OF A BUILDING FOR AN HOUR. UPON RETURNING, OWNER PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER WHERE IT WAS BEING SERVICED. *AK
WHILE INSERTING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION IT LOCKED. DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE KEY. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
FORD ISSUED A REAR DOOR RECALL, WHICH WAS NOT FOUND AT THIS TIME. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS, BUT THERE WERE NO AVAILABLE PARTS IN ORDER TO DO REPAIR, WHICH IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE DOORS COULD OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY.*AK
DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE TRUNK LID FAILED TO LOCK PROPERLY . THE DRIVER WOULD HAVE TO SLAM TRUNK LID BEFORE IT WOULD LOCK. THE CONSUMER DROVE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE HOOD LEVER DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THE CONSUMER INFORMED THE MECHANIC THAT THIS PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED AND HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *AK *JB *NM
55,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. ON 3/25/05, WHILE PARKED & LOCKED, THE IGNITION MALFUNCTIONED ON ITS OWN, RESULTING IN A FIRE THAT BURNED THE STEERING COLUMN. THE FIRE CAUSED OTHER DAMAGES AND HEAVY SMOKE WITHIN THE SEALED PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ITSELF WITH THE LACK OF OXYGEN. PICTURES OF THE WIRING HARNESS, STEERING COLUMN AND INTERIOR ARE AVAILABLE WITH THE INSURANCE COMPANY CLAIM FILE. *NM
(1) I FIRST NOTICED UNUSUAL STAINS ON THE CARPET UNDERNEATH THE CLUTCH PEDAL DURING DECEMBER, 2004, BUT ASSUMED INITIALLY THAT IT WAS FROM SOMETHING ON MY SHOES. (2) ON 03/21/05, THE CLUTCH PEDAL PAD FELL OFF WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION, DISTRACTING ME, BUT FORTUNATELY DID NOT RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. (3) ON 03/28/05 I SEARCHED THE NHTS ODI COMPLAINT DATA BASE AND FOUND AN IDENTICAL COMPLAINT, ODI ID NUMBER:10107639, DATE OF FAILURE: 01/20/05. I WILL BE TAKING THE VEHICLE THIS WEEK AND THIS INFORMATION TO THE AUTHORIZED FORD DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR ALTHOUGH THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE WAS ON 01/31/02, BUT I WILL CLAIM THE PROBLEM STARTED IN DECEMBER 2004 WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. *JB
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH VEHICLE STALLED. A RECALL WAS ISSUED, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE'S YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED. *AK
THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED . AS A RESULT, THE OCCUPANT WAS TRAPPED INSIDE. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR THE REAR DOOR LATCH, BUT THE FRONT DOORS WERE NO INCLUDED. *AK
I KEPT HEARING NOISES IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR SO I CALLED THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM THIS PROBLEM ALONG WITH FAULTY WINDHIELD WIPERS , NOISES IN THE TRANSMISSION AND A RADIO THAT PLAYS WHEN IT WANTS. I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR REPAIRS . THEY DID THE REPAIRS ON THE WINDSHIELD UNDER THE WARRANTY, AND SAID THE RADIO WAS NOT DEFECTIVE AND THE FACEPLATE WAS BROKEN (IT IS NOT), AND THE NOISE THAT I AM HEARING IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR WAS DUE TO ME REPLACING A FLAT TIRE (IN THE REAR OF THE CAR) WITH A TIRE NOT THE SAME AS THE OTHER THREE. WELL I WAS DRIVING THE CAR FOR ABOUT 300 MILES AFTER BEING AT THE DEALER AND WENT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL( NOT THE TIRE) WENT ROLLING INTO THE HIGHWAY AND MYSELF AND 2 TODDLERS WENT TO THE LEFT AND INTO A BUSINESS PARKING LOT. AFTER BEING TOWED TO THE DEALER, THE TOLD ME THAT THEY DO NOT RECALL TELLING ME ABOUT THE NOISE I HEARD , AND DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TECH THAT WORKED ON THE CAR DID NOT WRITE THE RESULTS ON IT THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPOSIBLE FOR THE WHEEL FALLING OFF AND TO GET MY CAR OFF THEIR LOT BEFORE THEY HAVE IT TOWED OFF.IN THE EVENT OF THE WHEEL FALLING OFF IT ALSO CAUSED $1000.00 DAMAGE TO THE FRONT QUARTEPANEL AND DOOR. I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO GRAND SPORT AUTO FOR REPAIR AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DAMAGES THAT MY INSURANCE WILL NOT CCOVER, ALONG WITH A RENTAL CAR.
DT:CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REAR DOOR PROBLEMS. THE TWO REAR PASSENGER DOORS WERE FIXED AS PART OF RECALL. CONSUMER SAID THAT ON REAR DOOR ONE THE LATCHES BROKE,, AND IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. WHEN DRIVING ON THE ROAD THE REAR DOOR WILL COME OPEN. WHEN CLOSING THE REAR DOOR IT MUST BE SLAMMED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE DOOR WILL STAY SHUT, AND EVEN THEN WHILE DRIVING IF VEHICLE WAS JARRED BY A BUMP OR HOLE, DOOR WILL STILL COME OPEN. ALSO, SEAT BELTS DO NOT WORK PROPERLY, THEY WILL NOT LATCH MOST THE TIME. BUT WHEN THEY DO LATCH THEY WILL NOT COME UNLATCHED TO RELEASE PASSENGER. DEALER SAID THAT CONSUMER MUST PAY TO HAVE SEAT BELTS REPAIRED.*AK
MY CAR STALLED WHEN DRIVING ANYWHER FROM 20 - 70MPH. THE GAUGES GO HAYWIRE THE LIGHT CUT OFF AND ON , THE CLOCK RESETS, THE SPEEDOMETER GOES CRAZY, AND I HAVE A YOUNG DAUGHTER THAT RIDES IN THIS CAR. THIS STARTED IN OCTOBER AND IS STILL GOING ON TO DATE. MY CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
I HAVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS 4-DOOR SEDAN. I HAVE APPROXIMATELY 45000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT STALLS PARTICULARLY WHEN THE ELECTRIC PARTS ARE TURNED ON. YOU CAN JUMP THE CAR AND GET IT TO START, BUT THE SAME THING KEEPS HAPPENING. *AK ALSO, WHEN YOU TURN ON THE RADIO, IT MAKES A BUZZING NOISE AS IF THERE IS INTERFERENCE FROM THE MOTOR. THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE GETTING WORSE. ALSO, THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME SORT OF A NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHEN STOPPING. IT IS NOT THE SOUND OF WORN-OUT BREAKS BUT AS IF THERE IS AN AXLE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD MY REAR RIGHT TIRE REPLACED TWICE.
THE KEY WON'T TURN IN THE IGNITION. UNABLE TO MOVE VEHICLE. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO FORD DEALERSHIP. CROW- MODDIE BURLINGTON KS. NOT FIXED YET.*JB
WHILE TRAVELING AT 50 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WENT INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. BOTH DRIVERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. *AK *BF *NM
I OWN A 2002 FORD FOCUS WITH APPROXIMATELY 44,000 MILES. I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE EVAPORATOR CORE WHICH COST ME $900.00, I WAS QUOTED A PRICE OF $1,100.00 THROUGH THE FORD DEALER. I WOULD EXPECT THAT A MAJOR PART LIKE THIS WOULD HAVE A LONGER LIFE THAN THIS. THE FORD DEALER REFUSED TO SELL THE PART TO AN OUTSIDE SOURCE AND STATED THEY WERE SAVING THE 11 THEY HAD ON HAND FOR THEIR OWN CUSTOMERS, AS THIS PART HAS BEEN A PROBLEM IN THE FOCUSES. WE HAD TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $50.00 TO SPECIAL ORDER. IF THIS IS THE CASE THAN WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PART. I FEEL I SHOULD NOT BE REPLACING MAJOR PARTS ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 44,000 MILES ON AND ANOTHER 3 YEARS OF PAYMENTS.*JB

ON THE MORNING OF 14 FEBRUARY 2005 MY SON WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH IN AN INTERSECTION. OUR 2002 FORD FOCUS WAS TOTALED (IT HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT, AND I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW FROM A FORD LOT.) THE AIR BAGS DID NOT GO OFF! BOTH MY SON AND HIS PASSNGER SUSTAINED NECK AND BACK INJURIES.*AK

WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED CONSUMER SAW THE SEPARATION OF THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE SIDEWALL TIRE. CONSUMER HAD THE TIRE REPLACED. DEALERSHIP WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK *NM
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT MY 2002 FORD FOCUS IGNITION HAS FAILED. I STICK THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE CAR MAKES THE BEEPING SOUND AND WILL NOT TURN. I HAVE TRIED TURNING THE WHEEL AND TURNING THE KEY AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE TRIED TURNING THE KEY TO THE OTHER SIDE AND THEN TURNING IT AND I HAVE ALSO MADE SURE IT WAS IN PARK, TRIED TO MESS WITH THE TILT OF THE WHEEL NOTHING WORKS. THIS TIME THAT IT HAPPENED I GOT STRANDED OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A DARK PARKING LOT WHERE THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND. THERE WERE NO OTHER STORES OR ANYTHING AROUND. I AM NOW GOING TO HAVE TO GET MY VEHICLE TOWED AND SPEND ANOTHER 250 TO GET THIS FIXED. MY CAR ONLY HAS 55,000 MILES AND I HAVE ONLY HAD IT FOR A YEAR. FORD NEEDS TO CONSIDER RECALLING THIS BECAUSE I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS MADE A COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS. IF THIS IS NOT RECALLED I WILL NEVER BUY A FORD AGAIN AND NEITHER WILL MY FAMILY AND WE BUY AN AWFUL LOTS OF FORDS IN OUR FAMILY AND MY HUSBANDS FAMILY. *JB
ON JANUARY 14, 2005 I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO PAUL HARVEY FORD FOR MAINTANENCE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE SEVERAL THINGS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED, MOST WAS COVERED BY MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE SERVICE TECH. GARY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT I NEEDED ALL NEW TIRES, AND FURTHER SAID HE COULD NOT WARRANT ANY WORK DONE UNLESS I REPLACED THEM. SO I GAVE HIM PREMISSION TO DO SO. FEBURARY 7TH, 2005 WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK I WAS INFORMED BY A PASSERBY THAT MY TIRE WAS EXTREMELY LOW ON THE BACK DRIVER SIDE. I CONTACT GARY AT PAUL HARVEY FORD REGARDING THE FLAT AND HE ASK IF THERE WAS SOMEONE WHO COULD FIX IT. I REMINDED HIM THAT I JUST PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES FROM PAUL HARVEY FORD AND THAT I PLANNED TO BRING THE CAR AND TIRE IN. I TOOK IT IN THE NEXT MORNING WITH MY HUSBAND WHO SPOKE WITH GARY REGARDING THE TIRE. GARY SAID HE WOULD HAVE SOMEONE LOOK AT IT WHILE WE WAITED. GARY RETURNED AND SAID THAT THE TIRE COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE HOLE WAS ON THE INSIDE AREA OF THE TIRE AND THAT IT WAS AGAINST THE LAW TO REPAIR, THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PRUCHASE ANOTHER. I REFUSED TO DO SO AND I'M STILL SEEKING REMENDY.*AK
I WAS ACCELERATING RAPIDLY TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND THE GAS PEDAL GOT STUCK, AND THE CAR KEPT ACCELARATING AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT HAS DONE THIS TWICE.*AK I HAVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS EX
2002 FORD FOCUS ZX5- ONE OF THE CENTER CAPS ON THE 16" WHEELS FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CAPS ARE DEFECTIVE SINCE THE TABS THAT HOLD IT ONTO THE WHEEL SEEM TO JUST BREAK OFF (CHEAP). THE CAP COVERS THE LUG NUTS. *TR
NO START, NO CRANK. RANDOMLY CAR WILL NOT START, AND THERE IS NO CRANKING EITHER. HAPPENS ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. SHOWS DASHES ON THE DIGIT DISPLAY. CAR MAY START AFTER 10 MINUTES OR 3 HOURS - CAN'T TELL. HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER ONCE. PROBLEM NOT REPLICATED, BUT SERVICE FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE VIN, AND 2001, 2002 MODELS WHICH SPECIFIED THIS EXACT PROBLEM, SUGGESTING REPLACEMENT OF A SPECIFIC PART FOR SUPPOSEDLY A DPFE SHORTENING. EVEN THOUGH THIS PART ALONE WAS CHANGED, PROBLEM RECURRED JUST AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS. VEHICLE NOW AGAIN AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS A REALLY ANNOYING PROBLEM, AND I'M NOW AFRAID TO TAKE THE CAR ANYWHERE, EVEN IF IT COMES BACK FROM THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY AFTER BEING 'FIXED', AS THERE'S NO TELLING WHEN THE PROBLEM WILL RECUR, OR IF THE CAR COULD EVEN STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A FREEWAY!. HAVE REQUESTED DEALERSHIP TO KEEP THE CAR FOR HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT NOT SURE IF THEY'LL DO IT. *JB
I HAD A FRONT END COLLISION HIT A DITCH HARD. AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. SLICK TIRES SHARP CURVE AND BAD WEATHER CAUSED THE ACCIDENT.*AK
CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER LEAKS CLUTCH FLUID. FLUID RUNS DOWN STEM OF CLUTCH PEDAL, LOOSENING THE RUBBER PEDAL PAD, WHICH PROCEEDS TO FALL OFF IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. ALSO CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER FLUID IS SUPPLIED BY BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR!!! THIS LEAK CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE BRAKE FAILURE AS FLUID LEAKS OUT OF BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. *JB
I DRIVE A 2002 FORD FOCUS LX. I HAS APPOXIMATLEY 56,000 MILES. I HAD BROUGHT MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE BODY WORK DONE ON THE FENDER. I WAS TOLD THE THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETE, AND I LEFT WITH MY CAR. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, GOING FIFTY FIVE MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE JUST STOPED. AFTER WE COASTED TO THE SHOULDER, WE PUSH-STARED THE CAR AND DROVE DIRECTLY BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO TOLD ME THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AND FUEL INJECTOR LINES WERE BROKEN. THIS OCCURS IMMEDIATLEY AFTER I HAD BODY WORK DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. IN FACT, IT WAS THE SAME HOUR OF THE SAME DAY I LEFT !! *AK

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT NOTICED AIR COMING OUT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE, WHICH SHE HAD BEEN AWARE OF SINCE FIRST PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MORE THAN SIX TIMES, REGARDLESS IF THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OR IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE WOULD EITHER HAVE TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER OR SERVICE PERSONNEL WOULD COME TO HER AND REPLACE THE TIRE WITH A SPARE. THE DEALER WAS NEVER ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED ONCE IN JANUARY OF 2008, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT SENT LETTERS AND EMAILS TO THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,686 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,815.
1. I'VE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS TIRE HOLDING AIR. IT HAS GIVEN ME PROBLEMS EVER SINCE I PURCHASED IT. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ALL THROUGH WARRANTY. I'VE BEEN PUTTING AIR IN IT WHICH HAS COST ME A SURMOUNTABLE AMT OF MONEY RANGING FROM 25 CENTS TO WHATEVER THE MARKET CHARGED COST OF PUTTING AIR IN IT TO THE CURRENT DATE. IT RUINED A GOOD TIRE AFTER 12,000 MILES OF USE; IT WAS ROTATED ALL THE NECESSARY TIMES; ONLY THE RIGHT PASSENGER FRONT SIDE TIRE NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES IT WAS ROTATED; THE SAME SIDE IS FAULTY; AUGUST 2008, A SERVICE CENTER DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM. I TOLD THEM TO EXAMINE THAT PARTICULAR WHEEL AND SEE IF THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT PROBLEM EXISTS. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE WHEEL IS BENT IN 4 DIFFERENT PLACES. I'VE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM MY WORKPLACE; MY AUTO CLUB HAS HAD TO SEND A SERVICE SHOPOUT TO CHANGE THE TIRE OR PUMP IT UP. SOMETIMES THIS WOULD HAPPEN IN MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER WARRANTY IT BECOMES THE OWNER'S PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THE MFR AND DEALER WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. AN OWNER OF A 2004, NEW AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE, ALSO HAS A CRACKED WHEEL. UNLESS THIS PROBLEM IS CORRECTED, IT WILL CONTINUE TO COST PURCHASERS MORE MONIES AND ACCIDENTS IF DRIVEN OVER 30-40 MILES PER HR. THIS IS A MFR'S DEFECT. A VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN ON LONG TRIPS AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, SUCH AS ON THE EXPRESSWAYS AND INTERSTATES. IT IS DANGEROUS REGARDLESS OF SPEED. ONCE AIR IS PUT BACK INTO THE TIRE, WITHIN A DAY'S TIME, DRIVEN OR NOT DRIVEN, IT STARTS GOING DOWN. BASICALLY, JUST BEING PARKED, IT WILL GO DOWN ANYWAY. WITH THE ETHICS OF THE DEALERSHIP IN THIS AREA, THEY PROBABLY DID THE SAME THING AS I'VE BEEN DOING., ADDING AIR TO THE TIRE AND RETURNING IT BACK TO ME. THANK YOU. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 47 MPH CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH THEY T-BONED ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER WERE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR INJURIES SUSTAINED.*AK
IGNITION LOCKED WITH KEY IN IT. TOWED TO FORD DEALER AND IGNITION DRILLED OUT AND REPLACED AT AROUND $300. HAPPENED A SECOND TIME. LOCKSMITH CALLED. IGNITION DRILLED OUT AND REPLACED FOR AROUND $50.00. HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN IN ABOUT 3 YEARS.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED HEAVILY. DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM PERTAINED TO THE WHEEL BEARING. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED. *AK
THE CONSUMER WAS PULLING INSIDE OF THE GARAGE TO PARK THE VEHICLE WHEN HE NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MOVE IN A CIRCULAR MOTION, BUT THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO MOVE THE TIRES. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
I HAVE BEEN HAVING REOCCURING PROBLEMS WITH THE IGNITION IN MY VEHICLE. I VISITED THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS WEBSITE AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN FOCUS'. I HAVE BEEN CHARGED OVER $300 TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RECTIFIED. ONE MAN SAID HE HAD TO HAVE HIS IGNITION REPLACED 3-4 TIMES. DAILY, IT TAKES ME UP TO 30 MINUTES TO START MY CAR DUE TO IGNITION MALFUNCTIONS. I DON'T FEEL THAT WE, FOCUS OWNERS, SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A MANUFACTURES DEFECT. *AK
SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. THE FORWARD DRIVER SIDE STEEL BRAKE LINEL WAS WORN THROUGH BY THE PLASTIC INNER FENDER WELL CAUSING ALL BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT. REPLACED BRAKE LINE.*AK
WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR WENT, THIS CAR IS 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT, COST TO REPAIR $298+ THIS IS THE THIRD EXPENSIVE REPAIR ON THIS 2002 FORD FOCUS, THE OTHER TWO WERE WHEEL RELATED AND LOCKING DOOR LOCKS THAT WERE QUITE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR AS WELL. *AK

MY FORD FOCUS ZTX HAS 4 FIRESTONE FIREHAWK GTA 02 P205/50R15 M+S 86H TIRES ON IT AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 20,119 MILES ON IT. I ROTATED THE TIRES EVERY 6,000 MILES AS RECOMMENDED AND ON TH ELAST OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATIN APPOINTMENT, THE FIRESTONE DEALER ADIVSED ME NOT TO ROTATE THE TIRES BECAUSE THEIR ARE DEFECTS IN THE TIRES AND THE REAR TIRES ROTATED TO THE FRONT WOULD CAUSE MORE ROAD NOISE. THE AUTO IS UNDER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER THE TIRES BECAUSE THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY DO NOT CARRY FIRESTONE TIRES ANYMORE EVEN THOUGH THESE WERE THE BRAND INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE BY THE FACTORY. *A
STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WOULD MOVE BACK AND FORTH ON ITS OWN. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
