KEY STUCK IN FORD FOCUS 2007. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT ISSUE CAUSED BY AN INFERIOR DESIGN AND METAL SELECTION MADE BY FORD. COMPLAINTS FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS IS CONSISTENT AND FORD REFUSES TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *TR
HAVE 2007 FORD FOCUS SE WITH 50,000MIL ON IT. 1ST OFFENSE HAPPENED JULY 2009. HAD TO REPLACE 100,000 MIL WARRANTY SPARK PLUGS(FORD PRODUCT) @ 38,000 MIL.THEY WERE BURNT TO CRISP .REPLACED THEN 2 WKS LATER BTWN 45-50 AN HR MY CAR WAS SHIFTING LIKE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I WAS TOLD I NO LONGER HAD A WARRANTY(FORD DIRECTLY SAID THIS) WENT TO ANOTHER REP COMPANY. TOLD ME MY CYLINDERS WERE GOING OUT. NO ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON. COMPANY TOLD ME TO CALL FORD DIRECTLY BECAUSE MAYBE THERE WAS A RECALL. THEY TOLD ME THERE WASN'T AND THAT I DID HAVE A POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BUT THIS WAS NOT COVERED,YET MY OWNERS MANUAL SAYS THAT CYLINDERS ARE COVERED BY POWERTRAIN. I PAID OVER $200 TO FIX PROBLEMS IN AUG 2009.IT IS NOW OCT 2009 AND I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE EVERYTHING AGAIN! I AM TO THIS DATE BARELY OVER 2 YRS OLD ON THE VEHICLE(BOUGHT AUG 2007) AND JUST NOW TURNED OVER 50,000 MIL. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO THIS VEHICLE. THE COMPANY I TOOK IT TOO SAID THAT THEY SEE THIS PROBLEM ALOT BECAUSE THE CYLINDERS GET TOO HOT AND BURN THE SPARK PLUGS BECAUSE THERE IS NO COOLING SYSTEM FOR THIS AREA. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED TO THE LEFT. WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED AT HER DESTINATION AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY FLAT. SHE LEFT THE VEHICLE IN A PARKING LOT. THE DEALER SENT A MECHANIC TO HER LOCATION AND HE STATED THAT THE RIM STEM CAUSED THE TIRE TO FLATTEN. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FOR THIS IDENTICAL FAILURE. SHE BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED SINCE THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 22,000. UPDATED 08/04/09. *LJ UPDATED 08/06/09.*JB
I WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END COLLISION IN MY 2007 FORD FOCUS ST. I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND WAS REAR ENDED BY A TRACTOR TRAILER TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 - 25 MPH. UPON IMPACT THE UPPER HALF OF MY DRIVERS SEAT GAVE WAY CAUSING MY UPPER BODY TO FALL ONTO THE LOWER PART OF THE REAR SEAT. IT APPEARED THE RECLINER MECHANISM GAVE OUT DURING THE IMPACT. THIS WAS SOMETHING I WAS NOT PREPARED FOR. I WAS NOW IN A POSITION WHERE MY HEAD WAS FULLY EXPOSED TO THE ON COMING TRUCK. THERE ARE MULTIPLE FRONT SAFETY FEATURES AND ONLY THE SEAT BACK FOR REAR SAFETY FEATURES. IF SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT BEHIND MY DRIVERS SEAT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. I SENT FORD MOTOR COMPANY INFORMATION REGARDING MY CONCERN WITH THE RECLINING MECHANISM IN DECEMBER OF 2009, ON APRIL 16, 2010 OR THERE ABOUT FORD ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE EXACT CONCERNS I HAD WITH MY VEHICLE. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THIS CONCERNS ME. *TR
IN JUNE OF 2009 I TOOK MY 2007 FORD FOCUS IN FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGING MAINTENANCE AS WELL AS TO FIND OUT WHILE THE SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON WHEN MY SEAT BELT WAS LATCHED. THE SERVICE ATTENDANT CHECKED THE SEAT AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE SEAT BELT. WELL A FEW WEEKS AFTER THAT THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO FLASH ONLY NOW THE SEAT BELT ISN'T LATCHING PROPERLY. I AGAIN SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE WHO NOW INFORMS ME THAT MY WARRANTY EXPIRED AND IT WILL COST ME $379 TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE NOT ONLY DO FORD HAS TO FIX THE LATCH BUT IT ALSO HAS TO BE REWIRED. I STATED TO A REPRESENTATIVE WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THE WORK WHEN I BROUGHT MY CAR IN STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND REPORTED THIS PROBLEM AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO PAY FOR AN ISSUE THAT I DIDN'T CREATE. SO NOW I'M DRIVING AROUND WITH A SEAT THAT DOESN'T WORK BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WITHOUT QUESTION. *TR
ON JUNE 13, 2009, MY HUSBAND, MY 16 MONTH OLD SON AND I WERE DRIVING ON I95 S FROM NORTH CAROLINA TO SOUTH CAROLINA WHEN MY REAR LEFT TIRE BLEW OUT. THIS SENT US FISH TAILING ACROSS ALL LANES AND FINALLY WHEN THE BACK OF MY CAR SPUN AROUND INTO THE SHOULDER, THE CAR FLIPPED ONTO THE DRIVER SIDE, THEN ONTO THE TOP OF THE CAR, THEN FINALLY LANDING BACK UPRIGHT. NOT DURING ANY TIME DID THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY ON ANY SIDE OF MY CAR. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG DEPLOYED AFTER HITTING A POT HOLE IN THE ROAD DOING ABOUT 25 MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT LEAST 25 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, SHE CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE. A TOTAL OF FOUR VEHICLES WERE INVOLVED IN THE CRASH. THE FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. SHE WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL IN AN AMBULANCE AND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK OF THE HEAD, NECK, AND WRIST. ANOTHER OCCUPANT WAS ALSO INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. FORD STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS SHOULD DEPLOY UPON IMPACT AT SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 18 MPH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 40,000.
MY 2007 FORD FOCUS KEY IS STUCK IN MY IGNITION &ITS A SECURITY AND SAFETY HAZARD, FORD WANTS TO CHARGE 400-500 DOLLARS TO FIX THEIR OWN COMMON PROBLEM. THE CONSEQUENCE OF THIS IS I WILL PROBABLY STOP STIMULATING THE ECONOMY ALONG WITH OTHERS AND NOT BUY AN AMERICAN MADE CAR. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE A/C HEAT KNOB BROKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE KNOB WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE KNOB BROKE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT ACCELERATED TO 60 MPH AND THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENGINE DETECTS THE PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATES TO 60 MPH. THE DEALER IS CURRENTLY REPLACING THE VALVE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 60,000.
TIRE TREAD SEPARTION ON BOTH REAR TIRES OF A 2007 FORD FOCUS ZX4 SES.CAR ONLY HAD 14,000 MILES ON THEM.TIRES WERE REPLACED NEW NATIONAL TIRES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A LARGE TRUCK RAN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND CAUSED HER TO CRASH INTO A LIGHT POLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED MAJOR CONTUSIONS DURING THE CRASH. ONE YEAR AGO, THE CONTACT STRUCK A DEER WITH HER VEHICLE AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AT THAT TIME AS WELL. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 45,000. UPDATED 04-14-09 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEAT BELT CAUSED BRUISES TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF HER CHEST FROM HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. RECENTLY, MY 2007 FORD FOCUS SES WAGON BEGAN EXHIBITING A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG SYSTEM. WITH MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT ON THE DASH WILL ILLUMINATE INDICATING THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF WE WERE TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES. I HAVE TWICE HAD THIS VEHICLE IN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR DURING THE FIRST TWO YEARS WE OWNED THE VEHICLE. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING REGULARLY OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS. IF THE INDICATOR DOES ILLUMINATE AND THE TRAFFIC CONDITIONS ARE SUCH THAT WE CAN DO THIS SAFELY, MY WIFE CAN UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT AND LET IT RETRACT. SHE CAN THEN RE-BUCKLE HER SEAT BELT AND THE INDICATOR WILL TURN OFF. OUR TRIPS HAVE BEEN SHORT ENOUGH THAT WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE LIGHT TURN BACK ON SO I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS RESOLVES THE ISSUE FOR THAT PARTICULAR TRIP OR IF IT WOULD TURN BACK ON IF THE TRIP WERE LONGER. SOMETHING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT CONTROLS SEEMS TO BE BAD. WHETHER THAT IS THE PASSENGER WEIGHT SENSOR, THE SEAT BELT SENSOR, OR THE CONTROL MODULE CANNOT BE DETERMINED AS WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALER WHEN THIS OCCURS SINCE MOST OFTEN IT IS THE EVENING WHEN MY WIFE IS WITH ME. BY THAT TIME, THE DEALER IS CLOSED. *TR
I RECENTLY HAD MY 2007 FORD FOCUS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE AUTOMOTIVE COMPANY TOLD ME I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE MY TIRES. I HAVE ROTATED MY TIRES EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE TO ENSURE PROPER WEAR AND EVEN WEAR AND ALSO FOR SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE. I HAD APPROXIMATELY 40K MILES AT THAT TIME. I ASKED THE AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE COMPANY IF PIRELLI WARRANTIES THE TIRE AND THEY SAID UNFORTUNATELY NOT. I WENT TO DISCOUNT TIRE, THEY TOLD ME THE TIRES NEED REPLACING AND THERE IS NO WARRANTY ON THE TIRE BECAUSE IT IS AN OEM TIRE. DISCOUNT TIRE SAID PIRELLI MAKES THAT TIRE DIFFERENTLY FOR THE OEM THAN THE TIRE DEALERS. NO WARRANTY. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN SAID THE TIRES NEED REPLACING AND THAT THE PIRELLI'S HAVE BEEN, IN HIS WORDS, "JUNK". HE SAID, "MISS, IF YOU THINK YOUR TIRES ARE BAD, YOU SHOULD SEE THE CUPPING AND AWFUL WEAR AND HAZARD ON THE F150 PICK-UPS AND EXPEDITIONS". I ASKED HIM IF HE TOLD FORD ABOUT THIS AND HE SAID NO. I CONTACTED FORD AND NO ONE CARES TO RETURN MY CONCERN. PIRELLI TOLD ME FLAT OUT IN AN E-MAIL THAT THE TIRE IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY PRORATING AND BASICALLY IT IS MY PROBLEM. I COULD HAVE A BLOW OUT OR SOMETHING HAPPEN DUE TO POOR MANUFACTURING. THIS TIRE, THE P6 IS A SAFETY THREAT. NO ONE WILL LISTEN, NO ONE CARES. I WAS SHOCKED BY PIRELLI'S REMARK AND I DID NOT ASK FOR A REPLACEMENT, I WAS JUST THINKING OF SOME TYPE OF PRORATION ON A BETTER TIRE. I ALSO RECOMMENDED TO PIRELLI THAT THEY MIGHT WANT THIS SET FOR THEIR ENGINEERING TEAMS TO REVIEW AND STUDY. I AM SENDING THIS COMPLAINT TO NHTSA BECAUSE I CARE ENOUGH ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE AND WOULDN'T WANT ANYONE INJURED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECCURRED SEVERAL TIMES.IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DRIVER FRONT SEAT WAS THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE CUSHION OF THE SEAT BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
ALTERNATOR SUDDENLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING. I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE CAR WHILE IN TRAFFIC INCLUDING THE STEERING. THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED. APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS LATER ON JULY 2, 2012, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. SUDDEN ALTERNATOR FAILURE WHILE DRIVING WITH NO ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. BECAUSE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAD A TOTAL FAILURE I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE, TURN ON THE HAZARD FLASHERS, OR SIGNAL THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME THAT I WAS SLOWING DOWN BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS COULD NOT FUNCTION. TERRIBLY DANGEROUS. ON JULY 6, 2013, ALTERNATOR #3 FAILED AND BURNED OUT THE BATTERY AS WELL. FORD MOTOR COMPANY APOLOGIZED FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND SAID IT WAS MY PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. INCONVENIENCE? THAT TAKES THE CAKE. I DON'T KNOW WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON THIS DEFECT AND IT IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. SUDDEN ELECTRICAL FAILURE ON A HIGHWAY AT HIGH SPEED WITH NO WAY TO STEER THE CAR OR WARN OTHER DRIVERS MERITS A RECALL. THE WEB IS AWASH WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT SUDDEN AND REPEATED FAILURE OF THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN THE 2007 FORD FOCUS. *TR

THE CONTACT FIRST REPLACED THE TIRES IN 2007 AND HAD REPLACED ALL OF THE TIRES AT LEAT FOUR TIMES SINCE THE FIRST FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEED OF AN ALIGNMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WAS PASSING A CAR AND JUST COMPLETED THE PASS (APPROX. SPEED WAS 60 MPH), WHEN THE BACK RIGHT TIRE LOCKED UP. THIS CAUSED ME TO GO INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC. I THEN WENT OFF THE ROAD AND FLIPPED END OVER END ONCE AND BARRELL ROLLED THREE TIMES. THE CAR WAS TOTALED. I HAD MINOR INJURIES. WITNESSES STOPPED AND TOLD POLICE AND FIRE PERSONNEL, THAT AFTER I HAD PASSED THEM, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE LOCKED UP AND SPUN ME OUT OF CONTROL. THE CAR LANDED ON ITS DRIVER SIDE. DURING THE SPIN AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IT FELT AS IF THE VEHICLE WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE. THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. MY CONCERNS ARE THE BRAKING SYSTEM, TIRES, AIR BAGS, AND WHEEL BEARINGS. THIS CRASH SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED, THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM FOR FORD. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 FORD FOCUS WITH 40K MILES ON A HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 60MPH. I HEARD/FELT A VIBRATION FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT THE MUFFLER WAS COMING LOOSE. THEN THE LEFT REAR WHEEL CAME OFF THE CAR. THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME AND I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE SO I MADE IT TO THE SHOULDER. THE WHEEL BEARING HAD FAILED. THE COST TO REPAIR IT WAS $500. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2007 FORDS FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM 07V270000 WITH WHEELS COMING OFF BUT THAT WAS FOR FRONT WHEELS OF REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS. I HAD THE CAR IN FOR THE 35K MAINTENANCE IN SEPTEMBER AND HAD NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, OR HAD ANY SERVICE DONE TO THE CAR SINCE THEN. THE DEALERSHIP EMPLOYEES SAID IT WAS UNUSUAL FOR A CAR WITH JUST 40K MILES TO HAVE THAT TYPE OF FAILURE AND SAW NOTHING, PARTS MELTED, ETC TO INDICATE ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE BEARING FAILURE. THE FLAT BED DRIVER STOPPED AND PICKED UP THE WHEEL AND IT WAS REATTACHED TO THE SPINDLE. THE CAR IS ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE TO DRIVE IT THOUGH I CAN NO LONGER TRUST IT. I WAS PLANNING TO DRIVE TO FLORIDA WITH MY DAUGHTER TO TAKE HER TO COLLEGE IN 4 WEEKS SO IT WAS A MERCY IT FAILED NOW RATHER THAN COMING DOWN A STEEP HIGHWAY IN KENTUCKY DOING 75. I WILL HAVE TO GIVE HER MY OTHER CAR TO KEEP AS I CANNOT TRUST THE FOCUS. *TRW
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GARAGE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL FAILED. THE WHEEL WAS REPLACED. ON OCTOBER 23, 2008, WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL FAILED. THE VEHICLE SWERVED ACROSS THE ROAD AND CAME TO A STOP WHEN IT CRASHED INTO A DITCH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE WHEEL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 10,000. UPDATED 12-02-08 *BF UPDATED 12/02/08. *JB

IT'S THAT THE REAR WHEELS ARE TOED-IN 50% TO MUCH FROM THE FACTORY SPECS AND IT JUST CHOPS THE TIRES UP. THE CAR NEEDS 2 NEW TIRES AND A ALIGNMENT JOB TO FIX THE PROBLEM FROM THE FACTORY. LESS THAN A YEAR LATER, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED; HOWEVER, NO ERROR CODES WERE PRODUCED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL FELT AS IF IT WOULD POP OFF. THE DEALER FOUND A DEFECT WITH THE STEERING COLUMN AND HAD THE COMPONENT REPLACED. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE FORD DEALER STATED THAT THERE MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAGS FOR A PLETHORA OF REASONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE DOES NOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. HE WAS VERY LEARY OF OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY DUE TO THE FACT OF NOT HAVING A FUNCTIONING AIR BAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. NO ADDITIONAL REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE AIR BAGS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,786.

I OWN A 2007 FORD FOCUS. I PURCHASED THE SE MODEL NEW BECAUSE OF THE ADDITIONAL SAFETY FEATURES SUCH AS FRONT AND SIDE AIR BAGS. WE HAD TO PAY 500.00 DEDUCTIBLE AND THE INSURANCE PAID 1658.00 WE DO NOT KNOW IF OUR INSURANCE WILL GO UP BECAUSE FORD HAS NOT EXCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY YET AND IT HAS BEEN 6 MONTHS AND I HAVE WRITTEN TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMM. I CAME HOME AND PARKED MY FOCUS AS USUAL. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AS ALWAYS AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. WE COULD HAVE LOST FOUR YOUNG MEN BECAUSE OF THIS I AM VERY ANGRY WITH THIS TOTAL PROCESS IT TOOK 3 WEEKS TO GET THE CAR BACK THIS ALSO INVOLVED MISSING WORK CLASSES AND ALOT OF TROUBLE WITH TRANSPORTATION I WISH THEY WOULD TAKE THIS CAR OFF THE ROAD SO IF AND WHEN IT IS SOLD I DO NOT HAVE THAT BURDEN OF SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE ON MY HEAD AND HEART. *TR
I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH DESIGN FLAWS IN MY 2007 FORD FOCUS SSE: (1) .BECAUSE OF WHERE THE DOOR LOCK IS LOCATED, JUST ABOVE THE DOOR HANDLES (FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES) ALL THE DOORS WILL LOCK AT TIMES AND YOU DON'T REALIZE IT WHEN YOU OPEN, GET OUT, THEN CLOSE THE DOOR. MOST OFTEN IN SITUATIONS WHERE YOU HAVE LEFT THE MOTOR RUNNING WITH THE KEY NOW LOCKED INSIDE. THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE OF COMING IN CONTACT WITH THIS LOCK WITH YOUR FINGERS OR HAND WHILE OPENING THE DOOR WITH THE HANDLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DESPITE NOW KNOWING WHAT CAUSES THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A COMPLETE NUISANCE AND DANGEROUS IF CHILDREN WOULD HAPPEN TO BE LEFT IN THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND THE DOORS LOCKED AND NO SECOND KEY ON HAND. (2). THE SECOND PROBLEM I HAVE WITH THE AUTOMOBILE IS I HAVE EXPERIENCED THE "AUDI EFFECT" WHERE THE CAR ACCELERATES ON OCCASION WHEN BRAKING. THIS I ALSO ASCRIBE TO A DESIGN FLAW: THE BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE PLACED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND AT A RELATIVE CLOSE HEIGHT TO ONE ANOTHER. AFTER TAKING THE DEFENSIVE POSITION, IN A POTENTIAL BRAKING SITUATION, IF YOU HAVE TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE QUICKLY AND HARD, THE CAR ACCELERATES. THIS TAKES YOU COMPLETELY BY SUPRISE AND IT TAKES TIME TO RESPOND. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE SAME WAY FOR 45 YEARS, WITH MANY VEHICLES, AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM. LUCKILY THE CAR SAT MOST OF THE WINTER BECAUSE OF THE PROBLEM I DESCRIBED PREVIOUSLY AND NO ONE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE ON SNOW COVERED OR ICY ROADS. I BROUGHT THIS UP AT THE END OF APRIL IN A VISIT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO FILE A COMPLAINT BY SERVICE MANAGER STEVE LOVALVO. I WANT TO BRING BOTH OF THESE DEFECTS TO YOUR ATTENTION BECAUSE I FEEL THAT I HAVE LEASED A LEMON THAT HAS PROBLEMS THAT CANNOT BE SERVICED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND PRESENTS POTENTIAL PROBLEMS FOR MANY OTHER DRIVERS ALSO. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A WINDSHIELD DEFECT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT INTACT. THE SEALANT WAS PLACED ON THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAULTY WINDSHIELD. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ALIGNMENT ISSUE THAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STEER TO THE LEFT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE MATS WERE STEAMED BY THE DEALER AND NEVER DRIED. AS A RESULT, THE WINDOWS WERE FROSTED INSIDE THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT FOUND RUST IN THE DASHBOARD COMPONENTS AND THE FUSE BOX. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 897 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 692.
