TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CALLED THE FORD DEALERS IN BOTH CARSON CITY AND RENO NEVADA. BOTH DEALERS STATE THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO DO THE RESULTS.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON ONE DAY AND IT DOES NOT GO OUT. I RESEARCHED IT ON GOOGLE AND IT APPEARS TO BE VERY COMMON IN FORD FOCUS VEHICLES. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT IN MY RESEARCH I LEARNED ALTHOUGH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, IF THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIR BAG WILL NOT WORK IF NEEDED.

MY MECHANIC IS UNABLE TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE STATING IT MUST BE DONE AT A FORD DEALETSHIP OUT AND THE PROBLEM IS IN THE BRAIN /MODULE OF THE CAR. FOR THESE REASONS I THOUGHT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THAT IN MY RESEARCH I LEARNED ALTHOUGH THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, IF THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIR BAG WILL NOT WORK IF NEEDED.
THE LITTLE PLASTIC THING ON THE SEAT BELT THAT PREVENTS THE LATCH FROM SLIDING DOWN TO TO BASE OF THE BELT BY THE DOOR FELL OF A WHILE AGO, AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO REPLACE IT.
I EXITED THE HIGHWAY VIA AN OFF RAMP AND HIT THE BREAKS TO SLOW DOWN. MY BACK END SPUN OUT OF CONTROL AND I HIT THE GUARDRAIL WITH THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF MY CAR. MY CAR WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS, MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
MY VEHICLE A FORD FOCUS 2009 BECAUSE OF POOR VISIBILITY WENT OFF THE ROAD TRAVELING NORTH ON HWY 76 (SAN DIEGO COUNTY, PALOMAR MT. AREA). THE CAR WENT OFF THE ROAD AT THE END OF HWY 76 AT HWY 79 IN THE MT. PALOMAR AREA NEAR LAKE HENSHAW. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DESPITE THE FRONT END OF THE CAR BEING SEVERELY DAMAGED.

MY 2009 FOCUS SES WAS SEEN BY THE DEALER FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEING CONSTANTLY ON IN NOVEMBER 2011. THEY REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG MODULE. THIS WINTER (2012) THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AGAIN. IT APPARENTLY HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH HOT/COLD TEMPS. *TR

PROBLEM FAILURE OF FRONT AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. OUR 2009 FORD FOCUS WAS REAR ENDED WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC BY A PT CRUISER TRAVELING APPROX. 35-40 MPH. THE IMPACT PUSHED THE FOCUS INTO THE AUTO IN FRONT SMASHING THE FOCUS FRONT END. THE FOCUS WAS LIKE AN ACCORDION SMASHED ON BOTH ENDS AND HAD TO BE PUT ON A TOW TRUCK FLATBED AS IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE CONCERN HERE IS THE AIRBAGS IN THE FRONT DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FOCUS HAD 44,000 MILES AND WAS MAINTAINED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA. FORD HAS NOT BEEN RESPONSIVE AS MY QUESTIONS ARE MET WITH REQUESTS FOR EXCESSIVE DOCUMENTATION. MY ONLY CONCERN IS WHY DID THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOY AND IS THIS UNIQUE TO THE FOCUS WE OWNED OR IS IT A BROADER PROBLEM WITH FORD FOCUS DESIGN. *TR

I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN WHICH I WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING 45 MPH WHICH IN TURN CAUSED ME TO SLAM INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT, THE DRIVERS SEAT I WAS SITTING ON WAS BENT AND MOVED BACK. THE AIR BAG DEVICE UNDER THE SEAT WAS DETACHED AND DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. THE ACCIDENT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH IT SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED WHEN I HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE SEAT AND FOR AIRBAGS NOT TO DEPLOY. *TR
