MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS STARTED TO IDLE ROUGH AND STALLS OCCASIONALLY WHEN SLOWING OR STOPPED. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE HAD STUCK OPEN CAUSING SUCTION IN THE TANK AND RESULTING IN THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK TO CAVE IN. THEY SAID THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE THE FUEL TANK, FUEL PUMP, PURGE VALVE AND CANISTER REPLACED FOR AROUND $2000. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH A TSB FROM FORD HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL SO I AM FORCED TO PAY THE DEALER TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WITH SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM FORD SHOULD OWN UP TO THE DEFECT AND ISSUE A RECALL.
WHEN I AM IN PARK STARTING THE CAR,. THE STEERING WONT WORK. A MESSAGE COMES UP SAYING THE POWER STEERING ASST SYSTEM IS OUT. DOES NOT STEER AT ALL. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND ON ABOUT 3 TIMES THEN IT WENT AWAY THERE IS AN ELECTRIC MOTOR NO PUMP. .I CALLED TO COMPLAIN AND FORD SAYS THERE IS NOT RECALL. THEY DO HOWEVER RECALL OTHER MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IF..THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS? THE STEERING MOTOR GOES OUT? WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM ON THE ROAD. THEY ALREADY TOLD ME THEY WONT FIX IT. IT IS CLEARLY A RECALL ISSUE AND THEY WONT FIX THE LESSER MODELS
THE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN, AND THE DOOR WILL NO LONGER CLOSE PROPERLY. WHEN EXITING THE VEHICLE, WE NOTICED THE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER CLOSE.
THE DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY FAILED ON THE DRIVER DOOR, WHERE THE LATCH PAWL AND SPRING HAVE BROKEN, IDENTICAL TO THE ISSUE WITH THE FORD FIESTA & FORD FUSION RECALLS. HAVING WORKED AT FORD, I KNOW THE FIESTA & FUSION ARE NEAR IDENTICAL PLATFORMS THAT IN THE MINDSET OF COMMONALITY OF SIMILAR PARTS OR THE GLOBAL WORLD CAR STRATEGY ESPOUSED BY FORD FOR NEARLY A DECADE NOW, SUCH A DEVICE WOULD IN ALL LIKELIHOOD USE THE EXACT SAME LATCH PALL AND SPRING IN ALL THREE PLATFORMS/VEHICLE MAKE. THE INCIDENT LUCKILY OCCURRED WHILE STATIONARY, BUT WHILE SHOPPING ON 8/17/2016 AND THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH OR LOCK. MY WIFE PROCEEDED TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED FOR THE 7 MILE RETURN TRIP HOME THROUGH AFTERNOON RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC, SHE IS LESS THAN THRILLED. BEING THIS IS A DIRECT SAFETY ISSUE, NEED GUIDANCE IN HOW TO FORCE FORD TO CORRECT THEIR OBVIOUS RESPONSIBILITY ON THE ISSUE AS FRANKLY NO CAR OEM SHOULD BE HELD GUILTLESS FOR SUCH A SAFETY DEVICE FAILURE WITHIN 5 YEARS OF MANUFACTURE. SUPPOSEDLY THERE IS A RECALL POTENTIALLY EXPANDED TO INCLUDE THE FORD FOCUS COMING SOON, BUT I NEED TO DO SO NOW AS THE COST OF THE ASSEMBLY AND LABOR WILL LIKELY APPROACH $600 OR MORE AS THE ASSEMBLY OEM COST TO RETAIL IS OVER $300 ALONE.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOORS, BOTH FRONT AND REAR, FLEW OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AFFECTED THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE PASSENGER WHO WAS IN THE REAR BEHIND THE DRIVER ALMOST FELL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. HAD IT NOT BEEN THAT I WAS DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL ROAD, THIS MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED. THE SECOND INCIDENT AFFECTED THE DRIVER'S DOOR, AND HAPPENED WHILE I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE WHILE ACCELERATING TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. NEITHER DOOR LATCHES SHUT, AND I HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO THE USE OF BUNGEE CORDS AND CABLES TO SECURE THE DOORS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY FOCUS WAS NOT ONE OF THE UNITS RECALLED, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THAT EXPERIENCED BY FUSION, FIESTA, AND OTHER FORD MODELS. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON OR ABOUT 8/3/16, AND THE SECOND ON 8/17/16.
THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT ENGAGE. THE LATCH MECHANISM ITSELF WILL NOT STAY IN THE CLOSED POSITION.
THE HORN HAS STOPPED WORKING AFTER 31000 MILES, THE RELAY AND FUSE HAVE BOTH BEEN CHECKED AND ARE STILL GOOD. I NOTICED IT WHEN I LOCKED MY CAR, AND THEN WHEN I PRESSED THE PANIC BUTTON THERE WAS NO SOUND AS WELL AS WHEN I PRESSED THE HORN BUTTON. THE HORN SHOULD NOT BE OUT ON ANY CAR AFTER ONLY 30K MILES, THESE CARS SEEM TO BE WIRED BADLY WHICH IS A SHAME.
ON AUGUST 17, 2016, I WAS DRIVING MY FOCUS AND WHILE TURNING A CORNER, MY STEERING SEEMED TO LOCK UP. I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I BRAKED HARD BECAUSE I WAS HEADED INTO PARKED CARS. I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE AND PARK GOOD ENOUGH UNTIL TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. I HAD IT TOWED TO FORD DEALER IN SANTA MONICA, CA. THE SERVICE AGENT TOLD ME THAT MY BATTERY WAS LOW AND CAUSED MY STEERING ISSUE. I INFORMED HIM THE BATTERY WAS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD. HE REPLIED THAT IT HAD A BAD CELL. HE TOLD ME IF I PUT A NEW BATTERY, IT WILL FIX ISSUE. I AUTHORIZED REPLACEMENT AND PICKED UP MY CAR THE NEXT DAY. ON AUGUST 26, 2016, I WAS IN MY CAR AND A WARNING POPPED ON MY DASH, "BATTERY LOW, CHECK MANUAL." I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO FORD. THE SERVICE AGENT CHECKED MY BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND SAID THEY BOTH WERE GOOD. HE FIRST TOLD ME THAT WARNING ALWAYS COMES ON WHEN YOU TURN KEY ON BUT DON'T START ENGINE. I TOLD HIM IT HAD NEVER POPPED ON BEFORE IN THE FOUR YEARS I'VE HAD THE CAR. HE INSISTED I JUST HADN'T NOTICED IT BEFORE. I TOLD HIM I'M SURE THAT IT NEVER HAPPENED. SO WHEN HE TEST DROVE IT, HE SWITCHED UP HIS OPINION THAT THE WARNING WAS REFERRING TO THE KEY REMOTE. I ASKED HOW BECAUSE IT SHOWED A SYMBOL OF THE CAR BATTERY. I TOLD HIM I HOPE YOU'RE CORRECT AND IT IS JUST THE REMOTE BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED THAT THE STEERING WOULD LOCK AGAIN AFTER HE PREVIOUSLY SAID THAT IT WENT OUT BECAUSE OF LOW BATTERY. SO I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE BACK TO WHERE I WAS STAYING AND WHEN I TURNED INTO A DRIVEWAY TO TURN AROUND, MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I WAS NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO STEER IT WELL,BUT WAS ABLE TO REVERSE AS CLOSE TO CURB AS POSSIBLE AND AGAIN WAITED TO BE TOWED BACK TO FORD. END RESULT: THEY HAD IT FOR FOUR DAYS, DROVE IT FOR 72 MILES AND HOOKED IT UP TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE. THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY FOCUS. I FEEL LIKE THE STEERING COULD GO OUT OR LOCK UP AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT.
AT 58,000. HORN STARTED TO WORK INTERMITTENT, NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. WHAT NEXT? ALREADY HAD WORK DONE ON TRANNY. EVERY THING SEEMS TO BE COMPUTER RELATED. IT ALSO SURGES AT START UP AT STOP.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. THE LATCH LOOKS BROKEN COMPARED TO THE OTHER REAR DOOR LATCH, BUT UNKNOWN SPECIFICALLY WHAT PART IS BROKEN. THE DOOR LATCH BROKE WHEN PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. MY HUSBAND OPENED THE DOOR TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THE BACK AND WHEN HE CLOSED IT, IT BOUNCED BACK SLIGHTLY AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. NO INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE LATCH BREAKING. FORD SAYS (IN A CALL ON 8/16/16) OUR VIN IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL AND WILL NOT TELL US IF THE LATCH ON OUR CAR IS THE SAME PART INSTALLED ON VEHICLES THAT ARE A PART OF THE RECALL. OUR FORD SERVICE DEALER IS BACKORDERED ON THE PART AND WILL NOT HAVE IT AVAILABLE UNTIL AUG 31ST, AND FORD WILL NOT PAY FOR THE FIX, WHICH IS ESTIMATED AT $500-$600.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 35 MPH, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATED ON THEIR OWN AND THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND CALLED 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. NEITHER A POLICE NOR A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
AT 9829 MILES (11/2013) NOTICED TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, JERKING, CRUNCHING AND CLUTCH PAC AND SEALS REPLACED AND TCM RECALIBRATED. AT 16839 MILES (8/2014) BROUGHT IN FOR HESITATION AND SHUDDER AND TOLD NOTHING WRONG. AT 29324 MILES (2/2016) BROUGHT IN FOR LOSING POWER AND SURGING FORWARD AND CLUTCH PACK REPLACED AGAIN. AT 33K MILES CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN MIDDLE OF STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON CORONADO BRIDGE. FINALLY DID MOVE AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN FLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR AND DRIVING TERRIBLY. AFRAID TO DRIVE. BROUGHT IT IN AND THEY ARE REPLACING TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. NOW I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT PERIOD. I LIMIT MY DRIVING NOW AND WOULD NEVER TAKE IT ON A LONG DISTANCE DRIVE.
WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN THE DRIVERS DOOR CAME OPEN AND WOULD NOT SHUT OR LATCH.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILURE NOT ONLY IN THE FOCUS BUT IN MANY OTHER FORD MODELS MANY OF WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED. THE CAR WAS LUCKILY STATIONARY WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED.
DOOR FAILS TO LATCH AND OPENS WHILE IN MOTION.
MY WIFE WAS BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY AND BEGINNING TO PULL OFF AND THE DRIVER DOOR JUST FLEW OPEN. THE LATCH WILL NOT SECURE THE DOOR. SHE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. MY LOCAL FORD DEALER IS HUB CITY FORD IN CRESTVIEW FL. AND THEY SAID I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR.
2012 FORD FOCUS DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. IN ORDER TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED I HAVE TO HOLD IT OR KEEP IT TIED DOWN. DUE TO HOW UNSAFE IT IS, I CAN NO LONGER OPERATE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. THE WARNING LIGHT DOES APPEAR THAT THE DOOR IS OPEN WHILE DRIVING.
FORD HAS A TRANSMISSION WITH DRY CLUTCHES. THIS TRANSMISSION HAS STRANDED MANY PEOPLE IN VERY UNSAFE SITUATIONS. THE TRANSMISSION JUST STOPS WORKING WHILE DRIVING. MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE PEOPLE LEFT IN THE TRAFFIC LANES AND THE CARS SIMPLY WILL NOT MOVE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME I WAS NOT ON THE FREEWAY, BUT ON THE FEEDER TO THE FREEWAY, AND THE CAR JUST STOPPED MOVING. THE ENGINE RPM'S DROPPED LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS. THEN THE ENGINE RPMS PICKED UP BUT IT WOULDN'T MOVE. TRIED PUTTING IT IN REVERSE AND STILL WOULDN'T MOVE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TOWED THIS VERY SAME CAR TO THE DEALER 8 MONTHS AGO. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS OF SUCH POOR QUALITY THAT THE VEHICLES ARE IN THE SHOP ON A REGULAR BASIS, COSTING US HUGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO FIX. I BOUGHT THE CAR 7 MONTHS AGO WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CAR HAS SHUTTERED AND THE TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED PRETTY MUCH FROM THE TIME I GOT THE CAR. READING MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE CAR, SOME FROM BRAND NEW OWNERS IN 2012. REALLY NEED TO RESEARCH THIS TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE FOR THAT MATTER.
I AM AN OWNER OF A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH SUDDENLY GAVE OUT AND WILL NOT SECURELY SHUT. THE DOOR WILL CLOSE, BUT WILL FLAP OPEN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND EXPENSIVE FIX. YOU CAN SEE HOW THIS IS FRUSTRATING WHEN THE LATCH GAVE OUT ON ITS OWN. THANKFULLY, NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. PLEASE KEEP INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE FOR IT SHOULD BE AN ISSUED RECALL. I HAVE A 2012 FORD FOCUS SE THE OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR WHEN OUT I FEEL THAT FORD NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN IT BECAUSE WHEN THE DASH LIGHT COMES ON IT DISABLES THE WHOLE SYSTEM
[XXX] IS MY NAME. THIS ABOUT MY 2012 FORD FOCUS WHICH I BOUGHT IN 2014 WITH 27000 MILES. IN JULY 2020 IT HAS ABOUT 65000 MILES. IT HAS BEEN USED FOR LOCAL DRIVING, NOT FOR COMMUTING. AFTER I DROVE IT SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF MILES I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE ROOF ABOVE THE DRIVER'S SHOULDER AND HEAD AS WELL AS OVER THE DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE WINDOW. THE LEAK WOULD OCCUR ONLY AFTER HEAVY SUSTAINED RAIN DOWN POURS. I THOUGHT THAT THE SUNROOF HAD SOMEHOW OWNED BUT I COULD NO SEE ANY OPENING AT ANY TIME. AFTER SEVERAL LEAKS OCCURRED DURING HEAVY RAINS I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER. THEY GAVE ME AN APPOINTMENT ON A MONDAY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MONTH WHEN THE WATER MAN COMES! I TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM AND ASKED WHAT I SHOULD DO. THE SERVICE BOSS TOLD ME TO PARK IT IN A GARAGE THE BILL WAS 264 DOLLARS. I WAS NOT HAPPY. THEY HAD TO CLEAN A PASSAGEWAY FROM THE CAR ROOF AND WINDOWS THAT PASSES THROUGH THE DOOR AND FRONT BODY TO THE PAVEMENT. IT TAKES A WHILE TO GET CLOGGED AGAIN AND IT IS TIME FOR THE WATERMAN. IT NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE A SUNROOF FOR THIS LEAK TO OCCUR. IK THINK THAT THIS SITUATION IN THE 2012 FORD FOCUS IS COMMON AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS A RECALL ISSUE. IS THERE ANY WAY THAT NHTSA WOULD PURSUE SUCH AN ACTION. THE LEAKING OCCURS WHEN IT IS RAINING VERY HEAVILY. IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED WHEN I HAVE DRIVEN WHILE IT RAINED. THE WATER WOULD DRIP ON MY LEFT SIDE AND LEG, OCCASIONALLY ON MY HEAD.SINCE 08/15/2016 AND ONGOING IN HEAVY RAIN WHILE THE CAR IS PARKED AND WHILE I AM DRIVING IF IT RAINS HEAVILY. THERE WAS EVIDENCE IN THE CAR INSIDES THAT THE LEAKAGES HAD OCCURRED BEFORE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE FORD DEALER IN NANUET, NY. DOOR LATCH BROKE ON DRIVER SIDE DOOR 7/28/16, NOW PASSENGER DOOR LOCK BROKE ON 8/14/16. I PAID $542 FOR DRIVERS DOOR TO BE FIXED. NOW I NEED TO GET OTHER DOOR FIXED. DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS GETTING IN MY CAR TO LEAVE AN ESTABLISHMENT AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT STAY CLOSED. I HAD TO STRAP MY SEATBELT THROUGH THE DOOR HANDLE TO HELP KEEP IT SHUT.
DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WILL NOT LATCH. I WAS PARKED AND OPENED MY DOOR FROM THE INSIDE GOT OUT AND TRIED TO SHUT THE DOOR AND IT WILL NO LONGER LATCH OR LOCK
DRIVER DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, SLIGHTLY TURNING RIGHT TO CHANGE LANES. DIVER DOOR OPENED, AND LATCH WOULD NOT RE-ENGAGE. DOOR HAD TO BE HELD SHUT UNTIL IT COULD BE SAFELY PARKED, THEN TIED SHUT FROM INSIDE TO TRAVEL TO DEALERSHIP.
AT APPROXIMATELY 70,000 MILES, I HAD TURNED OFF MY CAR TO GET GAS. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, I RECEIVED A POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE. THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER OPERATED. I COULD STILL STEER THE CAR, BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. MULTIPLE RESTARTS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER, AND THEY VERIFIED THE ISSUE. THE DEALER OFFERED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK CONTAINING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE FOR $1700.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LATCH WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
VEHICLE IN MOTION DRIVING ABOUT 60-65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON THE DASHBOARD. VEHICLE COULD NOT ACCELERATE FELT AS IF ON NEUTRAL. I BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED AND HAD THE FORTUNE NO INCOMING VEHICLES WERE BEHIND ME. I SHUT THE CAR OFF ONCE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. VEHICLE AFTER BEING OFF FOR 15 MINUTES WAS ABLE TO DRIVE BUT REVERSE GEAR WAS NONE FUNCTIONAL.
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD A DOOR LATCH FAILURE. THE RIGHT REAR DOOR OPEN DUE TO A DEFECT IN THE DOOR LATCH & THIS TIME THE DOOR HIT A SUPPORT COLUMN IN A PARKING GARAGE AT THE MALL & DAMAGE THE DOOR. I FILLED A COMPLAINT TWICE ON THIS VEHICLE HERE. NOW I NEED TO ORDER A NEW LATCH FOR THIS DOOR SO THAT IT CAN BE SECURED. THE CAR IS PARKED AGAIN WAITING FOR THE PART & THEN IT WILL HAVE TO GO TO BODY SHOP TO FIX THE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCHES ON THESE CARS. I KNOW THAT FORD HAS RECALL'S FOR OTHER VEHICLES WITH DOOR LATCH PROBLEMS. I AM SURE THAT THE DOOR LATCHES ON THIS VEHICLE IS MORE THEN LIKELY MADE TO THE SAME SPEC AS THE ONE'S WITH THE RECALL'S OR MADE BY THE SAME COMPANY. EVEN AT THAT IT STILL COST A LOT OF MONEY FOR THE PART & THE TIME IT TAKES TO GET.THE FIRST DOOR LATCH COST ME $239.17, THE SECOND ONE WAS $206.26 WITH THE DISCOUNT THAT I GET. POWER STEERING DOESN'T IMMEDIATELY COME ONE WHEN CAR STARTS, THE YELLOW INFORMATION LIGHT APPEARS, HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT ON. THIS WAS THE FIRST WEEK IT STARTED. IT WENT OUT ON A NASTY CURVE GOING 55 MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR WRECK AND ALSO ON THE INTERSTATE A FEW HOURS AFTER THAT. I HAD TO LEAVE IT SET A WHILE AND RESTART IT BEFORE I HAD POWER STEERING. THIS IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS!
MY CAR'S STEERING WHEEL GOT STUCK WITH A NOTICE SAYING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT". THE FIRST TIME THE PROBLEM OCCURRED THE CAR WAS BACKING UP, AND THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY WHEN I PARKED AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME THE PROBLEM STAYED... THE COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM WAS ESTIMATED AT ABOUT $2000 (PARTS AND LABOR) AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 60,000 AT THE TIME. LAST WEEK (08/12/2016, AT ABOUT 72,000 MILES), A WARNING CAME ON ABOUT A DOOR BEING OPEN WHILE I WAS PARKING. IT WAS THE ONE AT THE BACK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK, SO I TIED IT WITH A SEATBELT TO KEEP DRIVING. SINCE THEN THE CAR GOES INTO PANIC MODE NOW AND THEN WHEN I LEAVE IT LOCKED, PROBABLY BECAUSE THE DOOR MOVES AND IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE MECHANICALLY FORCED THE LATCH OPEN. I SOMEHOW FEEL LUCKY THAT NONE OF THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, BUT I AM NOW CONCERNED ABOUT SOMETHING ELSE FAILING (LIKE A DOOR FLYING OPEN) IN WORSE CONDITIONS.
DOOR LATCH RECALL MY VEHICLE'S DRIVER SIDE DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ON A BUSY HIGHWAY STREET AND WOULD NOT LATCH BACK WHEN ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE REPAIRED. THE SAME DAY I RESEARCHED AND FOUND A RECALL THAT WENT INTO AFFECT ON 8/4/16 THAT DESCRIBES EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND COVERS THE EXACT CRITERIA OF THE RECALL TO INCLUDE, MAKE, MODEL, YEAR OF MANUFACTURE AND LOCATION IT WAS MANUFACTURED. THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THERE WAS NO ACTIVE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE SO I ESCALATED TO THE MANUFACTURE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MULTIPLE FORD CUSTOMER CASE ASSOCIATES THEY OPENED A CASE ADVISING ME THAT IT APPEARS MY CAR IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL BUT BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS SO NEW THAT NONE OF THE CONSUMERS VIN NUMBERS HAVE BEEN TIED TO THE RECALL, THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME. THE DEALERSHIP IS ADVISING ME THAT I NEED TO PAY FOR THIS RECALL WORK AND WHEN THEY EVENTUALLY ADD MY VIN TOT HE RECALL THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. I DO NOT FEEL AS THOUGH I SHOULD PAY FOR THIS REPAIR OUT OF POCKET DUE TO THE KNOWN RECALL THAT EXISTS. FORD WAS UNABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH THE RECALL REPAIR AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL SITTING AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP AWAITING REPAIR.
THE DOOR LOCK LATCH/ACTUATOR BROKE NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SHUT AND LATCH. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM MANY MODELS OF FORD VEHICLES HAVE HAD AND BEEN RECALLED. BUT THE RECALLED MODELS DON'T COVER ALL MODELS AFFECTED WITH THIS DEFECTIVE LATCH. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY FORTUNATELY.
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT LATCHING. OPENED IT TO GET PERSONAL STUFF OUT AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND THE DOOR JUST BOUNCED BACK. LOOKED AT THE LATCH AND IT DOESN'T STAY UP.
MY DAUGHTER WAS LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO BACK OUT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY HARD TO TURN. SHE RESTARTED THE CAR AND IT WAS FINE. FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY, ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THIS DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT WORK. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE REAR DRIVING DOOR FLEW OPEN. CAR TO THE LEFT OF US HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID TAKING THE DOOR OFF. MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING NEXT TO THE DOOR. AND WAS TRYING TO HOLD THE DOOR CLOSED UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER SAFELY. THIS IS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO HAVE TO THIS HAPPEN TO ANYONE!! TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID YES THEY ARE BACKED UP WITH CARS WITH SAME PROBLEM. WHAT THE HECK?! AND THESE ARE THE SAME LATCHES RECALLED IN OTHER VEHICLES!!
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR OPENED WHILE BEING OPERATED AND WOULD NOT LATCH SHUT. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO SHUT IT AND IT WOULD NOT STAY SHUT. I HAD TO FINISH MY DRIVE TO WORK HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT. IM GLAD IT WAS A DOOR THAT I COULD HOLD SHUT BECAUSE HAD IT BEEN ANY OF THE OTHER DOORS, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION. I HAD TO HAVE THE DOOR REPAIRED MYSELF SINCE IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTEE. I UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER MODELS WERE RECALLED AND MINE WASN'T BECAUSE A DIFFERENT COMPANY MADE THE SPRING WHICH IS APPARENTLY WHAT FAILED. IM SURE THAT BOTH COMPANIES MADE THE SPRING TO THE SAME SPECIFICATIONS AND THAT THE FAULT IS IN THE DESIGN NOT THE COMPANY THAT MAKES THE SPRINGS.
MY 2012 FORD FOCUS DRIVERS DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN, THIS CAR HAS 36000 MILES ON IT AND FORD WANTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A FLAW IN THE CAR AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD. THIS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING A CORNER.

CAR DOOR LOCK BROKE DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR. THIS IS THE SECOND DOOR LOCK TO BREAK IN A MONTH. ASSUMING THEY WILL ALL GO OUT.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 65MPH THE AUTO STEERING WENT OUT. VERY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. PULLED CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT STEERING FINE. STARTED BACK ON THE HIGHWAY WENT A LITTLE DISTANCE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED.
MAKING A RIGHT HANDED TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAME OPEN. AFTER GETTING STOPPED AND TRYING TO CLOSE THE DOOR I NOTICED THAT IT WOULD NOT STAY SHUT. THE DOOR HAS TO BE HELD SHUT WHEN DRIVING, ONLY WAS TO GET IT TO STAY CLOSED IS TO DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD SO THE AUTO LOCKING TURNS ON AND OPEN AND CLOSE IT SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE DOOR LOCK TO CATCH IT. TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ENNIS, TX ON 08/09/2016 (9DAYS AGO AS OF THIS WRITING) AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT UNLESS I PAID "AROUND $600" FOR IT. TOM, THE GUY I TALKED TO SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THESE CARS BUT MY VIN FELL OUT OF THE RANGE AND EVER THOUGH IT WAS THE EXACT SAME CAR WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS THE RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR SINCE MY VIN HAD NOT BEEN LISTED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO TAKE A PROACTIVE APPROACH. LAST THING HE STATED WAS THAT SINCE I HAD A EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT THEY MAY FIX IT UNDER THAT. HOW EVER AFTER DEALING WITH FORD ON A HORN ISSUE I KNOW THAT ANYTHING NOT EXACTLY LISTED UNDER THE WARRANTY DOES NOT FALL UNDER ITS PROTECTION. BEFORE WE GOT OFF THE PHONE HE SAID THAT HE (TOM) WOULD LOOKING INTO IT AND GET BACK TO ME. OVER A WEEK AGO AND COUNTING.
WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE THE STEERING LOCKS AND YOU CANNOT CONTROL THE STEERING. I ALMOST HIT CAR NEXT TO ME AT A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT AND MY GARAGE WALL WHILE BACKING OUT. IT HAPPENS IN MY DRIVEWAY, STORE PARKING LOTS, WHERE EVER I GO AND THE MECHANIC EXPERIENCED IT AT THE DEALER. THE DEALER FOUND IT TO BE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAS FAILED AND IT NEEDS A NEW ONE COSTING $2,141.34.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENS TO MY FORD FOCUS 2012 HATCHBACK. FIRST IT WAS THE BACK DOOR AT THE DRIVERS SIDE, THE SECOND ONE WAS THE DRIVER DOOR. I GET OUT OF THE CAR AND WHEN PRESSED THE KEY FOB THE HORN SOUND TWICE. GO BACK TO CHECK IF I LET A DOOR OPEN, AND THE DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. CALL THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY KNOW THEY HAVE PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCHES BUT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING BECAUSE FORD DID NOT HAVE A RECALL FOR MY CAR.
AS OF AUGUST 7, 2016 THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILS TO LATCH IN THE CLOSED POSITION. MALFUNCTION WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I RETURNED TO THE PARKED VEHICLE AT THE GROCERY STORE. PRIOR TO THIS THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE LATCH FUNCTION WAS FAILING. OBVIOUSLY THIS MALFUNCTION IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AND THEFT CONCERN.
MY FAMILY AND I WERE PREPARING TO DRIVE FROM OUR HOME WHEN MY DAUGHTER TOLD ME THE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH SOME MODELS OF FORD CARS. I TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH IT IS IN FACT THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART DESCRIBED IN A RECALL, MY VEHICLES'S VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED AS A RECALL. MY DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AND I CAN'T RISK TRANSPORTING MY CHILDREN AS A RESULT. FORD SAYS IT WILL COST ME FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE PART THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE AND IS BEING FIXED AT NO CHARGE IN OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT VIN NUMBERS.

DOOR LATCH ON BACK SIDE DOOR HAS FAILED AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON RECALL LIST. WHILE AT HOME WENT TO CLOSE BACK DOOR AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSE.
I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I GOT OUT TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT. I FOUND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, CLOSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR AND GOT BACK IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. AS I WAS BACKING OUT TO LEAVE, THE BACK DOOR THAT I HAD OPENED FLEW OPEN AND THE WARNING LIGHT THAT A DOOR WAS AJAR CAME ON. I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO STAY CLOSED. I HAD TO TIE IT TO SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT WITH PLASTIC BAGS WHICH WAS THE ONLY THING I HAD. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS ON "BACK ORDER" AND IT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2016 AND WOULD COST ME $400 TO FIX BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED A RECALL....YET. SO I HAVE TO FIGURE A WAY TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED, NOT SECURED, UNTIL THEY CAN GET THE PART IN.
