TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE DOOR HAD TO BE HELD SHUT BY A SHIRT BECAUSE IT FAILED TO LATCH. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED AND REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR SONT CLOSE AND IT WONT STAY CLOSED. IT JUST FLAPS OPEN. THE LOCK MECHANISM NEVER ENGAGES.
MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LATCH OPENED WHILE DRIVING AND THE DOOR CAME OPEN. I STOPPED AND IT WOULD NOT CLOSED THE DOOR STAYED OPEN. I CALLED THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE YEAR A RECALL ON THE FOCUS HAS NOT BEEN DONE. THE COST TO REPLACE THE DOOR LATCH AND MECHANISM WAS $517 THAT THEY ARE QUOTING ME. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS KNOW.
MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. I WAS GETTING INTO THE CAR ON 4/23/16, CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN. THE LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH UNTIL I SPENT APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES PULLING THE DOOR BACK OPEN AND CLOSING IT AGAIN. TWICE NOW (ONCE WHILE STATIONARY AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING) MY DOOR HAS POPPED OPEN. THE FIRST TIME THE WAS STATIONARY, THE BACK DOOR WAS CLOSED AND POPPED MY FRONT DOOR OPEN. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CORNER WHILE LEAVING WORK AND MY DOOR JUST POPPED OPEN. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE ARE MANY FORD FOCUS' WITH MY SAME ISSUE, BUT THAT THEY HAVEN'T ISSUED A RECALL. I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY $59.00 TO HAVE THEM INSPECT MY DOOR. IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY APPROVED IT I WILL HAVE TO PAY EITHER A $50 OR $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO GET IT FIXED. IF THEY DO NOT APPROVE IT, IF I WANTED IT FIXED I WILL HAVE TO PAY AROUND $750 TO GET IT REPLACED.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILED, CAUSING THE DOOR TO REMAIN UNLATCHED AND SWING OPEN FREELY. I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR SHUT IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE REPAIR COST ME $585.70. FORD HAS BEEN MAKING CARS FOR OVER 100 YEARS, LITERALLY ALL OF WHICH HAVE HAD DOORS. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A SOLID DESIGN FOR A DOOR LATCH BY NOW. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED TO BREAK WHEN THE CAR WAS PARKED, BUT I IMAGINE IT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY IF IT HAD HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING. I STILL HAVE THREE OTHER DOORS WITH PRESUMABLY THE SAME FAULTY LATCH DESIGN - HOW LONG UNTIL THOSE FAIL AS WELL? I NOW HAVE TO CARRY A ROPE IN MY TRUNK IN CASE IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHILE I AM AWAY FROM MY HOME.
I HAVE HAD *2* OF MY DOOR LATCHES FAIL. DRIVER DOOR, AND DRIVER-SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. I HAVE HAD THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH REPLACED (APRIL 21ST, 2016) AND THE 2ND LATCH JUST FAILED BUT NOT YET REPLACED (JULY 2ND, 2016). THE FIRST REPLACEMENT COST ME $381.47, AND NONE OF IT WAS COVERED BY FORD AS IT IS NOT PART OF A RECALL.
THE 2012 FORD FOCUS REFERENCED ABOVE HAS HAD ISSUES WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR SINCE APRIL OF 2016. RANDOMLY, THE DRIVER'S NOTIFICATION CENTER (INFORMATION MESSAGE) WOULD SHOW THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS AJAR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY BEING STARTED & THAT SAME DAY WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. NOTE, I USE THE CAR ONLY FOR MYSELF & RARELY EVER USE THAT DOOR AS I DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN & USUALLY HAVE ONLY 1 PASSENGER IF ANY. ONLY A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, THE DOOR ITSELF WOULD FLY OPEN--REGARDLESS WHETHER THE CAR WAS "IN PARK", BEING "REVERED" OR BEING OPERATED IN TRAFFIC, WHETHER LOCALLY OR ON LONGER DISTANCED TRAVEL...HIGHLY DANGEROUS, LET ALONE DISTRACTING & UNNERVING. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER(S) & WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR'S VIN WAS NOT COVERED OR BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY KIND OF RECALL FOR SUCH PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF OTHER FORD FOCUS VEHICLES WHICH WERE COVERED.I LITERALLY HAD TO OPERATE MY CAR WHICH I NEED DAILY FOR WORK, & SCHOOL WITH THE SEAT-BELT LOCATED IN THE REAR RIGHTSIDE OF MY FOCUS BOUND AROUND THE ARM HANDLE AS TO AVOID HAVING THE DOOR FLY OPEN. BY THIS POINT, THE DOOR WOULD NO LONGER LATCH OR CLOSE AT ALL. EVEN SECURING MY CAR AT NIGHT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. IF I LOCKED THE CAR, THE ALARM WOULD RANDOMLY BLARE AT ALL HOURS OF THE MORNING CAUSING ME & MY NEIGHBORS TO PANIC. MEANWHILE I WOULD HAVE TO RUN TO FIND MY KEYS TO DEACTIVATE THE ALARM. FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS MY CAR HAD TO BE PARKED UNLOCKED EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE OF THIS FAULTY LATCH. DESPITE ATTEMPTS TO HAVE MY FORD DEALER HELP WITH THIS CONCERN, NO ONE EVER CALLED ME BACK FROM AUTONATION FORD IN SANFORD FL OR FROM GREENWAY FORD IN ORLANDO. MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY HAS OWNED FORDS SINCE I WAS A CHILD & BETWEEN US CURRENTLY HAVE 3 FORD VEHICLES. HOWEVER THIS PARTICULAR 2012 FOCUS IS MY (ALEXANDRA) 1ST CAR & I MUST SAY I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED.
SHUDDERING FELT WHEN LEAVING A STOP SIGN; SHAKING ON ACCELERATION
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR MODULER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000. UPDATED 06/29/16*LJ *CN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE TRAVELING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A GRINDING NOISE COULD BE HEARD WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTING GEARS. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH PLATE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ISSUE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 36,000.
4/14/16 MY WIFE DROVE FROM FT. LAUDERDALE TO ORLANDO WITH MY ONE YEAR OLD SON TO VISIT HER SISTER IN THE HOSPITAL SINCE SHE WAS HAVING A BABY AT WINNIE PALMER HOSPITAL IN ORLANDO. UPON LEAVING THE HOSPITAL, SHE OPENED THE DOOR TO GET IN AND WHEN SHE TRIED TO SHUT IT, IT WOULD NOT LATCH. WE HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP(SUN STATE FORD) NEARBY BECAUSE I TOLD HER IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE IT EVEN 8 MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP TO LET THEM KNOW THAT IT WAS COMING AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A RECALL ITEM. BUT UPON RESEARCHING THE MODEL AND VIN # I WAS TOLD THAT THIS MODEL IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ALL REPAIRS. THE CAR IS A 2012 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK AND ONLY HAS ABOUT 17K MILES ON IT. I ASKED IF OTHER VEHICLES HAVE THE RECALL WHY DIDN'T THIS ONE HAVE IT SINCE IT IS JUST AS DANGEROUS REGARDLESS OF THE SPECIFIC MODEL. I WAS TOLD THAT IS UP TO FORD TO DECIDE THAT AND IF THE VEHICLE DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL THEN WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I HAVE TO HAVE THEM INSPECT ALL OF THE DOORS NOW WHICH THEY WILL PROBABLY CHARGE ME FOR AS WELL. SO MY WIFE IS IN ORLANDO WITH OUR ONE YEAR OLD WITHOUT A CAR AND STANDING AT THE HOSPITAL WITH OUR SON AND A CAR SEAT IN HER HAND WAITING FOR A FAMILY MEMBER TO PICK HER UP. I DON'T FEEL WE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS. DO I HAVE ANY RECOURSE WITH FORD FOR COST TO REPAIR THIS?
IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR, MY DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH BROKE UNEXPECTEDLY. I WENT INTO A RESTAURANT AND THE DOOR CLOSED FINE. HOWEVER, WHEN I RETURNED TO OPEN MY DOOR, IT WOULD NOT LOCK. AS A RESULT, I HAD TO TAKE MY CAR TO A FORD SERVICE CENTER TO FIX IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NO RECALL. I HAD TO PAY OVER 600 DOLLARS TO GET IT FIXED. LAST WEEK, I WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE AND THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH BROKE. I TALKED TO FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME A DOOR LATCH BROKE ON MY CAR IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS! THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE DOORS WERE WORKING FINE UNTIL THE DOOR LATCHES SUDDENLY BROKE. BOTH TIMES, MY CAR WAS PARKED WHEN I EXPERIENCED THE DOOR LATCH FAILURES. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM LIKE THIS WITH OLDER CARS AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO CLOSE WHEN SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
TODAY THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND LATCH INTACT WHEN I INITIALLY STARTED THE CAR AND BEGAN DRIVING THEN SUDDENLY THE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHILE IN MOTION AND A NOTIFICATION APPEARED SAYING "DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR OPEN." THE ISSUE HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY THAT I WAS FORCED TO SWERVE TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE DRIVING TO MY LEFT AND NEARLY HIT THE VEHICLE TO MY RIGHT. I PULLED OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR SEVERAL TIMES AND ENGAGE THE LOCK TO SEE IF THE DOOR WOULD STAY CLOSED BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. I MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP BY HOLDING THE DOOR TIGHTLY WITH ONE HAND WHILE STEERING WITH THE OTHER. AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD THAT THIS ISSUE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY GOLD LEVEL EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I HAD PURCHASED AND IT WOULD COST NEARLY 600 DOLLARS TO FIX. NOT ONLY WAS THE REPAIR EXPENSIVE, BUT THE PART WAS OUT OF STOCK AND WOULD REQUIRE MY VEHICLE TO STAY IN THE SHOP FOR AN UNDISCLOSED NUMBER OF DAYS, WHICH FORCED ME TO RENT A RENTAL VEHICLE, INCURRING ANOTHER COST.
I OWN A FORD FOCUS 2012. THE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE AND THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE. WHILE MY SPECIFIC MODEL IS NOT BEING RECALLED, SIMILAR MODELS ARE FOR THE SAME CAUSE. THIS CANNOT BE CONCIDENCE AND NOW FORD IS CHARGING ME 600 TO FIX IT. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS COMMON FOR FORD FOCUS MODELS. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF THEM REPLACING THE LATCH. I ALSO REQUESTED THAT I KEEP THE OLD LATCH FOR PROOF.
MY DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE AND I TOOK IT TO FORD THEY SAID IT IS THE LATCH THAT BROKE TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIX IT AS A RECALL BUT FORD FIESTA IS BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME PART . TOLD ME I COULD PAY 450 BUCKS TO FIX IT FOR A PART THAT IS BEING RECALLED ON A DIFFERENT CAR BUT IT'S THE SAME PIECE.. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING WITH BUNGY CORDS ATTACHED TO MY DOOR ...IF I HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THIS I COULD UNDERSTAND BUT I DIDN'T IT IS A PIECE ON THERE CAR THAT BROKE AND THEY NEED TO FIX IT...MY TRANSMISSION WAS A RECALL THEY FIXED THAT AND IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING AS BEFORE
MY CAR STALLS CONSTANTLY AND WHILE DRIVING I HAVE TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART IT. FORD SAYS IT'S A PURGE VALVE PROBLEM, WITH THE GAS TANK BEING UNABLE TO RELIEVE PRESSURE (OR ALLOW AIR IN) AS GAS IS USED. FROM WHAT WE'VE READ ONLINE MANY MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SUPPOSEDLY IT'S A $2,000 FIX. I HAVE STALLED IN AN INTERSECTION BEFORE. IT WAS SCARY.
RIGHT FRONT DOOR OPEN WHILE DRIVING, DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH DOOR CLOSED. LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. HAD TO TIE DOOR WITH A ROPE TO GET VEHICLE HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL MODEL WITH A MILLAGE OF 61590. THIS COULD HAVE HAD A BAD OUTCOME IF SOMEONE WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED & WAS LEANING AGAINST THE DOOR THEY COULD HAVE FALLEN OUT & MAYBE STRUCK BY A CAR THAT WAS PASSING BY EVEN IF THE SEAT BELT WAS HOLDING THEM . ALSO IF SOMEONE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT BY THE DOOR AS IT OPENED. FORD HAS A RECALL FOR OTHER VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM INCLUDING THE 2012 FORD FIESTA.
RADIO HAS POPPING AND CRACKING ITS REALLY LOUD MAY CATCH ON FIRE.
THE PASSENGER WINDSHIELD WHIPER DOESN'T WORK
THE DOOR LATCH ON THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR FAILED. THE DOOR NOW DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL AND WILL SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING I'VE HAD TO TIE THE DOOR DOWN TO PREVENT IT FROM SWINGING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. NO DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE TO THE DOOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT DRIFTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE STEERING ABILITY RETURNED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE, BUT IT WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,600.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REAR LEFT SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN. IT APPEARS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LATCH IT WILL NOT CLOSE.
TRANSMISSION IS FAULTY. WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR WILL SLOW DOWN, SHAKE, AND SHUDDER AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE RPMS WILL INCREASE TO 5000-6000. THIS HAPPENS IN CITY DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR WILL SLOW FROM 65MPH TO 40MPH WITHOUT WARNING AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE. VERY UNSAFE!!!! THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO FORD DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. EACH TIME THEY SAY THE CAR IS FIXED ONLY TO BE BACK WITH IN A WEEK OR TWO FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. SEEMS FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AND I DONT WANT THE CAR BECAUSE SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET INJURED DRIVING THIS UNSAFE CAR.
RECEIVED "STEERING ASSIST FAULT " AND COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I HAD JUST BEGUN TO DRIVE OUT THE DRIVEWAY. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT MAKE IT ONTO THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DOORS ON THE VEHICLE LOCKED AND UNLOCKED AUTOMATICALLY AND THE TCM LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURES OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A MANUFACTURER RECALL FOR A SYSTEM UPDATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,817.
STARTED CAR AND PUT IT IN GEAR TO BEGIN DRIVING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. GOT A MESSAGE IN THE INFO SYSTEM THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST FAULT" ( THINK THAT IS WHAT IT SAID) THE CAR HAD NO POWER STEERING. EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. SAME THING. SHUT THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT LATER IN THE DAY TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND THE ERROR WAS GONE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS FINE. DEALER SAID THERE WERE NO CODES TO READ. THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM SO NOTHING WAS DONE. SCARED TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE CAR.
STEERING FREEZES, MAKES A VERY DANGEROUS MOMENT, DOOR WINDOW DOESN'T SUDDENLY WORK. FEEL A RECALL SHOULD BE IN EFFECT, CHOSEN STATES HAVE A RECALL ON THE STEERING, BUT NOT IN TEXAS, I'M A SENIOR CITZEN, LIVING OFF GOVE. BENITFITS , CAN'T AFFORD THE PRICE TO FIX, THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, AND ONE TIME IN MOTION.
CAR HESITATES WHEN AT LOW SPEED; TERRIBLE GRINDING NOISE WHEN GOING UPHILL ESPECIALLY WHEN STOP START ON A HILL. GEARS SLIP WHILE DRIVING; I HAVE OWNED AND DRIVEN MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AS WELL AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS THAT CAN SWITCH TO MANUAL BUT NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THIS. TODAY MY CAR WOULD NOT START: ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS CAME ON JUST FINE- DEFINITELY NOT THE BATTERY. ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAID "PARKING ASSIST MALFUNCTION" - THIS ENDED UP TO BE..... MY 2012 FORD FOCUS HAS HAD TWO DOORS BREAK DURING OPERATION AS IS DESCRIBED IN YOUR CURRENT INVESTIGATION TITLED "NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE16001". THE FIRST DOOR THAT MALFUNCTIONED WAS THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE SECOND WAS THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. IN BOTH CASES, I HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND PARKED, THEN UPON ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT WOULD NO LONGER LATCH. FROM THAT POINT ON IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO LATCH THE DOOR CLOSED. IN THE CASE OF THE SECOND/REAR PASSENGER DOOR, MY GIRLFRIENDS' 9 YEAR OLD SISTER WAS IN THAT SEAT...WHEN I WENT TO OPEN IT FOR HER TO GET OUT I DISCOVERED THE DOOR WAS OPEN. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, OBVIOUSLY. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO SPEND APPROXIMATELY $1000 REPAIRING THESE DOORS AT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, AS THE CAR ISN'T OPERABLE IN THAT CONDITION AND FORD DENIED MY REQUESTS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I AM AWARE THAT A SIMILAR PROBLEM IN OTHER FORD MODELS HAS RESULTED IN A RECALL, BUT FOR MY SPECIFIC MODEL JUST YOUR ON-GOING INVESTIGATION HAS TAKEN PLACE THUSFAR.

FOR THIS FAILURE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR COST SINCE THE WARRANTIES WERE EXPIRED FOR BOTH THE VEHICLE AND THE PARTS. THE MANUFACTURER, AFTER BEING INFORMED OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION FAILURES, STATED THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THE HORN WENT OUT FOR A PERIOD OF TIME ALSO THE RADIO IS NOT WORKINGAS WELL AS THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WHEN I WAS RECENTLY IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE.I WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO A ROAD AND WAS HIT FROM THE SIDE THE IMPACT WAS ENOUGH TO MAKE MY ENGINE DISMOUNT BUT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY.

I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN JULY OF 2014 WITH ABOUT 23,000 MILES. SHORTLY AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE, I EXPERIENCED THE TRANSMISSION MAKING GRINDING SOUNDS AND SHUDDERING DURING ACCELERATION. GENERALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS WARMED UP AND BEEN ON A DRIVE. A REPROGRAM WAS DONE AND I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM A FEW WEEKS LATER. AT THIS POINT, WITH ABOUT 30,000 MILES, A NEW CLUTCH AND PLATES WERE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED FINE FOR ABOUT 5,000 MORE MILES. THE SHUDDERING AND GRINDING NOISES HAVE RETURNED. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED TWICE SINCE THE NEW CLUTCH. I CURRENTLY HAVE ABOUT 45,000 MILES. FORD WILL ONLY REPROGRAM OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE IF THE SHUDDER IS OUTSIDE OF A CERTAIN RANGE AND ATTEMPTS HOW TO EXPLAIN THIS IS NORMAL. I AM STILL UNDER FACTORY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY BUT IT IS LIKE AN ACT OF CONGRESS TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AND I HAVE BEEN TO THE VARIOUS DEALERSHIPS AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR HELP. THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES JERK AND STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE. REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND OTHERS. I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE FROM ABOUT SEPTEMBER 2014 TO THE PRESENT DAY.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,075.
THE DISPLAY ON THE DASH READS "STEERING ASSIST FAULT". IT STARTED AS AN INTERMITTENT FAILURE THAT HAPPENED ONCE THE CAR WAS FIRST STARTED, THE PROBLEM WOULD GO AWAY AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING, THAT HAD BEEN HAPPENING FOR A COUPLE WEEKS. NOW IT IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ASSIST IN THE POWER STEERING, MAKJNG THE CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEED AND NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER AT VERY LOW SPEED, E.G. DURING PARALLEL PARKING, U-TURNS, SHARP TURNS, ETC.
DRIVERS DOOR CAME FLYING OPEN WHEN BACKING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. DOOR WILL CLOSE BUT WILL NOT LATCH. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH IT TILL NOW. CAR HAS LESS THEN 50K MILES AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BY FORD TO USE SUCH SUBSTANDARD PARTS AND ON SUCH A SAFETY SENSITIVE AREA OF THE CAR. NEW LATCH IS ANYWHERE FROM 180-250 AND AROUND 400 LABOR TO CHANGE.PART NUMBER CM5Z54219A65HIS WHAT FAILED.
SINCE MARCH OF 2016 I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH DOOR LATCH ISSUES. MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILED TO STAY SHUT. LUCKILY IT WAS JUST SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND QUIT WORKING OVERNIGHT. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WAS MY REAR DRIVE SIDE DOOR FLEW OPEN WHEN I TURNED ON A CITY STREET. LASTLY, THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR SWUNG OPEN WHILE DRIVE DOWN ANOTHER CITY STREET ROAD. FORD REFUSES TO FIX UNLESS I PAY CLOSE TO $700 PER DOOR OUT OF POCKET.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,116.
MY 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING TO BASKETBALL AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN SHE LOST ALL POWER STEERING N IT ALL LOCKED UP. THANK GOSH SHE WAS ON A STRAIGHT A WAY. I LOOKED UP TO SEE IF THERE ANY RECALLS N THERE'S NOT. I HAVE CALLED FORD 1800-392-3673 THEY SAID THY HV NO COMPLAINTS . SINCE THE INTRODUCTION OF DUAL CLUTCH TECHNOLOGY, BEGINNING WITH 2012 FORD FOCUS MODELS, THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED CASES OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. AT LEAST TWO RECALLS WERE TO ADDRESS THE SLUGGISH SHIFTING. IN MY CASE THE TRANSMISSION HAS NEVER FUNCTIONED ADEQUATELY, HOWEVER I NEVER EXPERIENCED TOTAL FAILURE. ON MARCH 15TH, IN HEAVY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT PROPEL FORWARD, EVEN IN DRIVE. I TURNED THE VEHICLES IGNITION TO OFF THEN ON. THAT RESET THE SYSTEM AND I DROVE HOME. NOW JUST YESTERDAY, MARCH 23RD, THE SAME THING OCCURRED, HOWEVER THIS TIME I HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO A FORD SERVICE SHOP. IN THESE EVENTS THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE DASHBOARD INDICATORS FLASH. THE CAR THEN IDLES AND SHAKES FAILING TO PROPEL FORWARD. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND I AM READING THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL YEAR. SERIOUS INJURIES CAN OCCUR WITH THIS TYPE OF FAILURE WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC CONGESTED AREAS. FORD HAS NOT ADEQUATELY ADDRESSED THE ISSUE AND NO RESOLUTION EXISTS AT THIS POINT. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS IN PROCESS AGAINST FORD DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS MATTER WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AGGRESSIVELY AND PROMPTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON AN INTERSTATE EXPRESSWAY. NOTE THE RECALLS FOR THEIR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
DRIVER'S SIDE REAR PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. VEHICLE WAS OFF AND STATIONARY IN GARAGE. NO AMOUNT OF LOCKING OR UNLOCKING CAR WITH BOTH KEY TRANSMITTER OR BUTTON IN VEHICLE WOULD LATCH DOOR SECURELY. DOOR HAD TO BE TIED SHUT IN ORDER TO TOW CAR TO FORD DEALER FOR SERVICE.
The contact owns a 2012 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH, the transmission shifted erratically. The contact stated that the transmission was shifting rough between gears. The transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with PCM and TCM failures. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred four additional times. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 38,600.
IN JULY OF 2015, THE LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH, THAT IS APPARENTLY PLASTIC, FAILED AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO LATCH AND REMAIN CLOSED. DURING THAT OCCURANCE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. I PAID FOR AND REPLACED THE PART ON MY OWN. NOW, IN MARCH OF 2016, THE RIGHT FRONT DOOR LATCH FAILED. AT THAT TIME, MY 7 YR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER HAD ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND CLOSED THE DOOR. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO THE FREEWAY, THE DOOR SUDDENLY OPENED. MY GRANDDAUGHTER ALWAYS WEARS HER SEATBELT, WHICH THANKFULLY HELPED US TO AVOID A VERY SERIOUS TRAGEDY. WE HAVE A CASE NUMBER WITH FORD CONCERNING THIS DEFECT, BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THEM YET. THE CASE NUMBER IS CAS-9127854.
THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT CLOSE. THE PROBLEM STARTED WHEN MY WIFE CLOSED THE DOOR AS SHE LEFT THE SUPERMARKET. IT LOOKS LIKE A SMALL TAB BROKE OFF THE CLOSING MECHANISM. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AS THE DOOR WOULD TRY TO OPEN ON CURVES AND WHEN STOPPING, AND ONE HAND MUST STAY ON THE DOOR. I UNDERSTAND THE 2012 AND 2013 FUSION AND ESCAPE HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND I FOUND NUMEROUS POSTS ON THE INTERNET RECITING EXACTLY THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO UNDERSTAND FROM THE INTERNET THAT THE NHTSA OPENED AN INVESTIGATION OF THE FOCUS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM IN JANUARY OF 2016. MY 2012 FORD FOCUS TITANTIUM HAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILES. BY THE WAY, I ALSO HAVE A 2013 FORD FUSION TITANTIUM THAT I HAVE READ WAS RECALLED IN 2015 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH I HAVE RECEIVED OTHER 2015 RECALL NOTICES FOR THE FUSION, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ONE RELATED TO THE DOOR PROBLEM.
GOT IN MY CAR ON A SATURDAY MORNING TO GO TO WORK. NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING VERY ROUGHLY. AS THE DAY PROGRESSED, I NOTICED THAT WHEN IT SHIFTED INTO 3RD, THE RPM'S WOULD JUMP FROM 3500 AND TAKE A WHILE TO GO BACK DOWN INTO 2000RPMS. IN THE AFTERNOON, CRANKED MY CAR UP AND NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THE SHIFTING HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. WHAT MAKES THIS EVEN WORSE IS I HAVE ALREADY HAD MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED ONCE. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY AFTER NOT DRIVING IT ALL DAY SUNDAY. I NOTICED AS I GOT ON THE HIGHWAY TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP, AS MY CAR SHIFTED INTO 5TH OR 6TH IT WENT FROM 3500 RPM TO 4500 RPM. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR! GOT TO THE DEALERSHIP FINALLY ONLY TO BE TOLD THEY ARE 2 WEEKS BEHIND ON TRANSMISSIONS AND THAT THEY CAN'T LOOK AT MY CAR TILL AT LEAST THURSDAY. I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WON'T BE ABLE TO GET A RENTAL TILL THEY DIAGNOSE IT. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER FORD. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
