My Ford Focus Electric has been experiencing sudden loss of power and then getting "stop safely now" messages. After a while it will run again. I brought it to Phil Long Ford of Denver back in August and they hooked up a testing unit and said they found nothing. During September, the car experience the "SSN" failure, and then would not start. I brought it to Phil Long Ford and they said it was a battery failure and would cost $19,000 to replace the battery and control unit. I researched the issue and see the Focus Electric was recalled for sudden loss of power while driving. It is NHTSA Campaign ID 13V523000 and NTHSA Action Number PE13031 . I asked Phil Long Ford to perform the recall and make the car safe to drive. They refused.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while he was at a stop sign, the vehicle inadvertently started shuddering significantly. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle as he was close to arriving at his residence. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the automatic clutch transmission needed to be replaced and that the failure was related to an unknown recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. The VIN was not available.
The power of the car (a 2013 Ford Focus Electric) simply STOPPED within a few seconds of the warning message. A red triangle appeared on the dash with the message Stop Safely Now. I was surprised and pulled over. My safety was at risk because had I been making a left turn in traffic, I would likely NOT HAVE SURVIVED. I was on a country road and able to pull over immediately. The car lost power within seconds and would not move. After my car was towed away, I learned: This is a defect that FORD knows about; it has been confirmed in one of their technical safety bulletins (TSB 17-0045.) It ought to be a RECALL. It is a huge safety issue. The car was towed to a Ford dealership parking lot and could be inspected.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to drive to his residence at 40 MPH but felt that the vehicle was running out of fuel. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) and NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System). The failure mileage was approximately 93,783.
June 2021 I purchased a car from a Ford dealership in North Carolina. when buying the seller had assured me that the vehicle was in good condition and had not informed me that there was a recall concerning the transmission. However, I had clearly explained to this seller that I had to make a long trip (2000 miles). Not even a month later, the vehicle started having problems reversing. When I arrived in Austin I had to take it to a mechanic who informed me of the recall. When I typed the VIN on the internet I even found another recall related to a door safety issue. I took it to another ford dealership for repairs which cost almost $3000. February 2022 another problem appeared and it seems that I still have to make repairs. the capital ford lillington dealer does not answer my calls or emails.
When pulling out on a hill or incline the car hesitates and seems to fall on its face for a short time then it finally picks up and has power. It just feels like it only has ten percent of power. It puts myself and others at risk of being in an accident , especially when pulling out into traffic. It could cause a side impact or rear collision very easily. I have driven a streight shift all my life and never ever had a vehicle seem to stall like this . I try and wait for a very large gap in traffic to pull out. On a hill in traffic I am afraid of getting rear ended trying to get pulled out and going. This has happened several times, it is intermittent .the car has only 60,000 miles, so it isn’t worn out.
When accelerating the vehicle pulls back to shift and then will release when going up in RPM’s. After filling car with gas and when on the break the car will stall and takes time to restart the car. Had to pay out of pocket for recall 18S32 due to initially having it looked out and Ford closed out the recall because they recalibrated but did not actually fix the issue so 2 months later I had to pay out of pocket for the recall.
Our Ford focus is in the shop for its third transmission module problem.
I was driving and all of a sudden my car just shut down. Completely. It has not electrical power or anything.
The transmission control module (TCM) failed on my 2013 Ford Focus again. This resulted in me loosing the ability move my car while in an intersection putting my safety and other drivers safety at risk. This required me to get out of my car in an intersection to push it to the side of the road with the assistance of other drivers, further putting our safety at risk. This is not the first time this has happened (loss of driving power in an intersection), and I have had this component and other transmission related components repaired under warranty multiple times by ford dealerships. There were no check engine lights or warning lamps that indicated the problem was going to occur before the vehicle failed.
I was driving down the road and getting ready to stop at a red light but all of a sudden my car died completely. Lost all power including electrical and mechanical. Luckily there was no one in front of me so there was no accident but I was forced to push the car out of the middle of the intersection. It still isn't working. The battery is brand new and when I charge it it charges up like it should so I definitely think it's something else on the car causing the issue. I had no warning lights on or anything.
The car stalled several times while driving. After a mechanics evaluation it was determined that there was a fuel delivery problem. After further evaluation it was confirmed that the problem was a defective purge solenoid. This item was recalled by Ford. However, they did not include this vehicle (by date) in the recall. The recall lists cars made until July 2012 and this vehicle was manufactured in May of 2013. The effect of the defective purge solenoid caused damage to other components of the fuel delivery system. I am now forced to pay for the repairs out-of-pocket. For a problem that is known by (and recalled by) Ford but is excluded from the recall. NOT FAIR

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving in a parking garage, the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the engine just revved as the vehicle failed to move forward while in drive. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled backwards as she then depressed the brake pedal and attempted to shift to park however, the gear shifter failed to move. The contact waited for a few minutes and was able to shift to park and turn the vehicle off. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the shifter was still difficult to move to drive. After a couple more minutes the vehicle was able to shift to drive but the vehicle hesitated and jerked before the contact was able to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed of a transmission recall. The dealer informed her that the transmission module was on backorder. The vehicle was temporally repaired however, the failure recurred several days later. The contact stated that on 8/6/2021 the transmission failure reoccurred while driving on a bridge. The contact stated that the engine revved, rolled forward, and the vehicle finally engaged to resume normal driving. The dealer was notified of the failure again and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. Once again, a temporary fix was performed on the transmission. The contact stated that “Service Transmission” was displayed once she retrieved the vehicle from the dealer for the second time. The contact called the dealer and was advised not to drive the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
Clutch and actuators , car only has 80,000 miles. $3500 transmission repair .
Check engine light came on. Before I had a chance to get it checked, the engine wouldn't start after refueling until trying on the fourth time. Took the car to a parts store and the code read P1450. An October 25, 2018 recall acknowledged a problem with 2012-18 Ford Focuses with a 2.0L engine. Although this problem is clearly acknowledged with this same year, model, and engine, my VIN is allegedly not covered in the recall. Dealer will not service the car under the recall.
I had a recall for door latches to the ford focus My back passenger door automatically open while my son was sitting in his car on when I was making a left on a street Took my vehicle to Riverside ford an their technician told me they couldn't repair the door latches because the recall expired

I have had my car in at the ford dealership and I have been waiting on parts to come in. The recalls on the car which are the transmission control module and the gas tank deformation recall have not been completed on my vehicle but is showing up in the system as repaired. I have been waiting for over 10 months for these parts to come in for the repairs to be done. Now my car isn’t drivable and just sits in my driveway.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH on several occasions, the vehicle lost automotive power. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer but had not received a response. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Transmission. The check engine light came on. After I shut it off it wouldn't start again. If I put it in natural it would start. Brought it to a garage and they said i needed newTransmission. This happened in June. The garage looked it up and said there was a recall on on 2013 focus. Called holt motors in cokato, mn and they said there was no recalls on them.
Ford issued a recall on the TCM/ clutch in 2019. This recall was to fix the shuttering in shifting. My focus was repaired by a Ford dealership in 2019 in accordance to the recall. My focus is shuttering again when accelerating. The car has no warning lamp for this issue. I recently had the car in to a ford dealership for diagnostics and they confirmed that the clutch is in need of replacement again. I have contacted ford directly and they refuse to cover the cost of a new clutch. The shuttering affects proper acceleration which is a safety issue.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while reversing out of the garage, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering rack and pinion was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000. Vin was not available. The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the windshield wipers were inadvertently activated. The windshield wipers failed to operate when the contact attempted to activate the wipers. The contact was unable to drive the vehicle when it rained due to the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The mechanic informed the contact that an unknown part needed to be replaced and the vehicle needed to be taken to the dealer for repair. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not manufactured with the unknown part and the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
Two weeks after purchasing vehicle from a used car dealer, started having severe transmission shudders and car shut down stating the transmission was in need of repair. Had vehicle towed to dealership where diagnosis determined transmission needs replacing. Upon researching on line,, cars.com states NHTSA vehicle safety recall was issued for the transmission and also “copilot” states on line that a recall was issued on this vehicle power shift transmission,,, only two of many complaints on line about the transmission in 2013 Ford Focus .. However Ford states there is no safety recall .. only an extended warranty customer satisfaction warranty for transmission clutch slippage ,, which ended last august , campaign #14M01... What am I to do ? ... the price quoted for a new clutch exceeds the value of the car....
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 73 mph, the contact heard a loud knocking sound and received an electrical shock from the steering wheel. The contact sustained a numb left arm due to the electrical shock but medical attention was not sought. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 142,938.
HMM...there was not an incident to report per say but the next button stated incident report. I am more or less reporting a complaint due to my 2013 Ford Focus has been at AutoNation Ford since 5/17/21 for three recalls but only one has been taken care of and according to the advisor Susan Lee on Recall # 14M02 for TCM, that once they perform the reset procedure that my car may have 50/50 chance of starting due to the dual clutch transmission causing me to replace the clutches at my expense out of pocket. This I do not understand since my car was running before I took it in for the recall. I simply was Secondly, the system haven't confirmed the other two recalls because the mechanic apparently never completed them while having my car for the past two weeks which I thought he would. I am filing this complaint for safety reason because I was advised that I could just take my car without having the TCM reset and take a chance of my car still being able to start or not and I would like to know if the repair of the recall may stop my car from starting then why should I be held responsible for a replacement of the dual clutches for my transmission?
I NEED THE CONTROL MODULE FOR THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND THE PART IS ONLY AVAILABLE AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP. I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE PART BECAUSE THEY HAVE 20,000 ON BACK ORDER BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON ISSUE. THIS PART CAUSES MY TRANSMISSION TO GO HAYWIRE AT TIMES. OFTEN SENDING MY RPMS TO HIGH LEVELS AS SOON AS I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DROPPING MY SON OFF AT DAYCARE AND THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD AS SOON AS I HIT THE GAS TO LEAVE MY DRIVEWAY AND AS I STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH I COULD HEAR MY ENGINE WORKING REALLY HARD AND THE RPMS WERE ALL THE WAY UP AT 3. MY CAR WAS STRUGGLING TO SWITCH GEARS.
STEERING FELT A LITTLE STICKY. LAST NIGHT I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND AN ALERT CAME UP THAT SAID 'STEERING FAULT SERVICE NOW' AND THIS MORNING I STARTED IT AND IT SAID 'STEERING LOSS PARK SAFELY' AND THE STEERING WHEEL DOESN'T MOVE AT ALL. ALMOST WENT OFF THE ROAD WHEN I LOST POWER STEERING LAST NIGHT
When i press the gas in my car my car starts to shake when it goes into gear it is a transmission issue i have been checking recalls and it matches the transmission recall but it says their are no active recalls on my car what do i do
WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE REVELS AND TRANSMISSION HAS NO POWER. IT IS UNSAFE BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHILE IN TRAFFIC. VECHICKEBWAS TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIND ISSUE BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN.
THE DPS6 POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION USED IN THE 2013 FORD FOCUS HAS WELL KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH SHUDDERING AND JERKING WHILE ACCELERATING IN LOW GEARS. DURING RAIN WHEN THE STREETS ARE WET IT JERKS ENOUGH TO CAUSE THE CAR TO LOSE TRACTION MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SAFELY ACCELERATE THROUGH AN INTERSECTION.
CAR FILING HARD, STALLING OUT WHEN ACCELERATING. COMPLETE STALL/FAILURE UNABLE TO RESTART WHILE DRIVING AT 55+ MPH. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. MORE ISSUES THE LESSGAS THE CAR HAS.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle lost motive power and stalled without warning. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was incorrectly showing that there was a specific amount of fuel to empty ratio on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was made aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V735000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
WHEN I DRIVE IN THE RAIN MY CAR WILL SPUTTER AND LOSE SPEED. THE OIL LIGHT AND BATTERY LIGHT TURNS ON AND IT DIES. I CAN GET IT TO TURN OVER BUT IT IMMEDIATELY DIES.I HAVE HAD TO GET IT TOWED TWICE. STILL CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.

MY 2013 FORD FOCUS WOULD NOT RANDOMLY START THE OTHER EVENING, AFTER A COUPLE TRIES IT STARTED. ON THE WAY HOME IT WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY AND ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL. MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH NEVER HAD BEFORE. SO THE NEXT MORNING I WENT TO GO TAKE IT TO AUTO ZONE TO HAVE THEM DO A DIAGNOSTIC AND MY VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP, HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. I HAVE READ THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE FOCUS' TRANSMISSION.
STEERING ASSIST ON VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY GOES OUT. THIS HAS ONLY HAPPENED TO ME WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE COLD. DASH READ "STEERING ASSIST FAULT. SERVICE REQUIRED." THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST. FORD HAS CLAIMED IT IS SOFTWARE RELATED. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL HAPPEN WHEN I AM DRIVING. I AM AFRAID OF BEING STUCK OUT SOMEWHERE WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO STEER. I HAVE READ REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO MOTORISTS. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE THAT IS WELL KNOWN TO THE ONLINE COMMUNITY. FORD HAS HAD STEERING ASSIST RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PAST. THIS IS AN ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE STREET WHEN MY STEERING GOT REALLY HARD AND MADE IT DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO A POLE. UNABLE TO STEER SAFELY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED MAKING THE VEHICLE UNDRIVABLE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT THE POSTED SPEED OF 65 MPH WHEN THE CAR ENGINE RPM DROPPED TO 2000 AND THEN BACK UP TO 4000 THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO 50 MPH CAUSING TRAFFIC BEHIND ME TO SLAM IN THEIR BRAKES. THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT TO SPEED UP CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER AND CREEP TO A GAS STATION.

CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. WITHIN MY 10 MILES TO WORK AND BACK THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES ABOUT 6 TIMES AND NEED TO HIT THE BUTTON ON SIDE OF SHIFT KNOB. RADIO SHORTED OUT MAKES A HORRIBLE SOUND EVEN WHEN NOT TURNED ON OR CAR NOT STARTED. HAD TO REMOVE FUSES
WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE TO PARK THE CAR IN MY GARAGE, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECAME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THERE IS AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE CONSOLE THAT SAYS 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED'. I CHECKED IT THE FOLLOWING DAY, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.
