VEHICLE ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES. THE FORD POWERSHIFT DUAL-CLUTCH TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSES THE CAR TO JERK, SHAKE, HESITATE, AND SHUTTER WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED TO START THE CAR MOVING FROM A STOPPED STATIONARY POSITION. THIS MOST TYPICALLY OCCURS ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS WARMED UP. FORD DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1650. DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME ONLY OPTION IS TO CONTACT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE IF THEY WILL COVER THE REPAIR WHICH THEY REFUSED. THIS EXACT ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED IN FORD TECH SERVICE BULLETIN 16-0109 DATED APRIL 2016. THERE IS ALREADY A FORD RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE THAT COVERS THIS SAME VEHICLE THROUGH JUNE 2014 MANUFACTURE DATES; HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN JULY 2014. FORD'S RESPONSE IS VEHICLE IS 3000 MILES OVER THE STANDARD POWER TRAIN WARRANTY AND MISSED THE EXISTING RECALL MANUFACTURE CUTOFF DATE BY ONE MONTH. THERE IS ALSO A CURRENT CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD FOR THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. FORD DEALERSHIP'S OWN MECHANICS STATE THIS IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT AND THEY DEAL WITH THIS EXACT CUSTOMER ISSUE ON A ROUTINE BASIS. THERE ARE NO AFTERMARKET SOLUTIONS AVAILABLE AND INDEPENDENT MECHANICS CANNOT SERVICE THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE WORK REQUIRES A PROPRIETARY FORD TOOL TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE LEAKING TRANSMISSION SEAL KIT WHICH INDEPENDENT MECHANICS DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO. PLEASE REVIEW AND CONSIDER EXTENDING THE EXISTING FORD RECALL TO COVER ADDITIONAL MODEL YEAR VEHICLES FACING THIS DEFECTIVE FORD DUAL-CLUTCH DESIGN. THE FORD CLUTCH DESIGN SEEMS TO BE DEFECTIVE AND IS AFFECTING ADDITIONAL VEHICLES BEYOND THE EXISTING RECALL MODEL YEAR VEHICLES.
2014 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SEVERAL SAFETY RECALLS RECEIVED ON VEHICLE AFTER PURCHASE. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SLIP WHILE TRAVELING UPHILL WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF, AND THE ENGINE WOULD KNOCK. *JS
OUR WELL MAINTAINED 4 YEAR OLD FUSION WITH 1.6L ECOBOOST, STARTED MAKING NOISE, ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET, SMOKE CAME POURING OUT. FORD DETERMINED CRACK IN ENGINE BY CYLINDER HEAD TO BE THE CAUSE. FORD INFORMED US OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A RECALL, AND OVER WARRANTY MILES (80K). WE HAVE RESEARCHED AND LEARNED OF THE 1.6L ECOBOOST ENGINE RECALLS BECAUSE OF RISK OF CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD/ENGINE. OUR LOCAL SM TOLD US FORD WAS LIKELY TO COVER ALL BUT $700 OF THE REPAIR, THEN THE NEXT DAY INFORMED US FORD WOULD ONLY AGREE TO PAY 1400 TOWARD NEW ENGINE, WITH US RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMAINING COST. FORD REFUSED COVERING OUR RENTAL. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR NEARLY 3 WEEKS NOW
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED, COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, AND ALL THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WAS DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY AND LOST POWER, HAD TO COAST OFF AT EXIT AND LIMP TO FORD DEALER WHERE IT COST A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY TO REPAIR THE TRANSMISSION INCLUDING WAS TOLD CLUTCH, AND PACKS. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION IF I WASN'T IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. I HAVE HAD SHUDDER AND POWER ISSUES SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW, BUT WAS TOLD BY MANUFACTURE AND DEALERS THAT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. DUE TO MANUFACTURE AND DEALER CLAIMS, THE TRANSMISSION WAS NEVER SERVICED PRIOR TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I BOUGHT MY 2014 FORD FOCUS FROM A DEALERSHIP 2 YRS AGO. THE FIRST WEEK OF DRIVING IT I NOTICED A "SHUDDERING " FEELING AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT WEEK AND THE SALESMAN TRIED TO TELL ME THAT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR DUE TO THER "SPECIAL" TRANSMISSION THAT THE FOCUSES HAVE. A WEEK LATER, AFTER NEARLY GETTING BROADSIDED DUE TO THE SHUDDERING AND NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE GOING UP A HILL FROM A STOP, I BROUGHT IT BACK AGAIN AND HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER GO FOR A RIDE WITH ME AND HE AGREED, I HAD A PROBLEM. LONG STORY SHORT, 2 YRS LATER AND 3 TIMES HAVING THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED AND NEW CLUTCH INSTALLED, I WANT OUT FROM UNDER THIS LEMON OF A CAR. YESTERDAY I HAD ALL THIS DONE FOR THE 3RD TIME UNDER WARRANTY BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN W/IN THE NEXT YEAR, AND I FULLY EXPECT IT TO, MY CAR WILL NO LONGER BE UNDER WARRANTY. I CAN NOT AFFORD A $2500 FIX ONCE A YR! I HAVE STARTED THE PROCESS TO HAVE A POSSIBLE BUY BACK AS I STILL OWE A CONSIDERABLE AMT ON MY LOAN. NO ONE AT FORD SEEMS TO CARE. THERE REALLY IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE CARS. I'VE ALSO READ THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN A LETTER EXTENDING THEIR WARRENTY TO 7 YRS OR 100,000 MILES. WHY HAVEN'T I GOTTEN THAT LETTER YET? FORD NEEDS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT! THIS IS A LOUSY UNSAFE CAR!
RECEIVED NOTICE STATING 'STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE NOW' WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON ON THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND RECEIVED MESSAGE STATING, 'STEERING LOSS, STOP SAFELY.' ALL WITHIN 5-10 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER. ALMOST WRECKED MULTIPLE TIMES TRYING TO GET MY CAR TO SAFETY.
MY VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES BY FORD WHEN UNDER WARRANTY FOR THEIR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS TAKING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND RUNNING IT LIKE AN AUTOMATIC KIND. I HAD TO HAVE A NEW CLUTCH PUT IN AS MINE WAS SEVERELY DESTROYED. ONCE ALL THE REPAIRS WERE FINALLY ACCOMPLISHED AND THE POWER CONTROL MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM WAS REPLACED) AND REPROGRAMMED MANY TIMES THE CAR FINALLY WAS DRIVING NORMALLY AS IT SHOULD AS I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW WITH ONLY 13 MILES ON IT. NOW MY CAR IS EXHIBITING CLUTCH CHATTER IF I START OUT A BIT SLOWLY SUCH AS FROM SAY A SCHOOL BUS STOP. IF I START OUT WITH A BIT OF SPEED NO CHATTER AT ALL. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER FORD FOCUS (MANY TYPES OF SE ETC.) OWNERS AND IF THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WITH THE POWER CONTROL MODULE (PCM), TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM), CLUTCH, TRANSMISSION AND ANY OTHER POWERTRAIN PARTS AFFECTED BY THESE MANY PARTS SHOULD BE UNDER AN EXTENDED RECALL/REPAIR STATUS FOR THE LIFE OF THE CAR SINCE FORD CREATED THE PROBLEM INITIALLY WITH THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION USED LIKE A NORMAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION? PERHAPS IF MORE FORD FOCUS OWNERS COMPLAIN THEN WE WILL AS OWNERS HAVE A LESS TROUBLED MIND REGARDING WHAT HAPPENS TO SAY AT 50,000 MILES ETC. WITHOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE NOTICED THE ABOVE CLUTCH CHATTER OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS IT IS HARD TO PUT AN EXACT DATE BUT THE LAST DAY I DROVE MY CAR (11/13/2018) IS THE LAST DATE I NOTICED THE POTENTIAL CLUTCH PROBLEM. I WILL REPORT MY CONCERNS TO THE DEALER AND INFORM THEM THAT I REPORTED THIS SAME PROBLEM TO YOUR WEBSITE (WWW.NHTSA.GOV). AT BEGINNING OF ACCELERATION FROM A STOP THE CARS TRANSMISSION STAGGERS.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE ISSUE REGARING THE RECALL FOR "THE ENGINE MAY STALL DUE TO A STUCK CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM" AND MY SECOND TRANSMISSION FIX WITHIN 10,000 MILES OF THE LAST TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. THE FIRST TRANSMISSION MODULE FIX, MY CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 19 DAYS. WHEN I RECIEVED MY CAR BACK, MY TRANSMISSION WAS SHUTTERING SO BAD AND WOULDNT ACCELERATE AND WAS STUCK IN A GEAR AND WOULD NOT BREAK OR SPEED UP FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS. WHEN I TRIED TO TAKE THE CAR BACK IN, THEY TOLD ME THAT "THEY FIXED THE RECALLED ISSUE SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC." IN NOVEMBER, I FOUND OUT THAT FROM MAY TO NOV. I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A BROKEN TRANSMISSION CLUTCH. IN NOVEMBER, THEY FINALLY PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION CLUTCH, HOWEVER DONT HAVE RECORD OF THEM CHECKING FOR THE RECALL ON THE FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR WORK, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS, THEN IT TURNED INTO ONE TO TWO DAYS AND PUT ME IN A RENTAL, HOWEVER DIDNT COMMUNICATE WITH ME ABOUT THE STATUS OF MY CAR. I CALLED MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY, HOWEVER DIDNT RECIEVE ANY DETAILS FROM MY MECHANIC. ON SATURDAY, I CALLED AGAIN AND TALKED TO THE FRONT DESK AGENT. I TOLD HIM THAT MY CAR WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE THE DAY PRIOR AND I HADNT RECIEVED ANY UPDATE ON MY CAR. LATER THAT DAY, I FINALLY RECIEVED A VOICEMAIL STATING THAT THEY HAD FINISHED THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH, HOWEVER FOUND A OIL LEAK AND THEY "HAD BEEN DOING WHAT BEST FOR ME" AND HAD BEEN FIXING IT WITHOUT COMMUNICATING TO ME ABOUT IT. MY CAR STAYED IN THE SHOP FOR AN ADDITONAL 4 DAYS TO FIX THE OIL LEAK. I ENDED UP BEING CHARGED FOR THE RENTAL CAR AFTER I WAS TOLD THAT EVERYTHING WAS UNDER WARRENTY AND RECALL SO I DIDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR ANYTHING. I DIDNT EVEN KNOW THAT THEY WERE DOING THIS WORK ON MY CAR UNTIL DAYS PRIOR. AFTER MORE THAN A MONTH, I AM STILL DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM.
THIS CAR SUFFERS FROM THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT CAUSES DANGEROUS JERKING AND ACCELERATION ISSUES. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD REGARDING THIS AND THEY STATE THIS CAR IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF WHICH WILL RUN 2K. THIS CAR WAS JUST PURCHASED USED 3 MONTHS AGO AND IS DANGEROUS. HOW THIS CAR DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, I DON'T UNDERSTAND.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE 60 FWY WHEN MY 2014 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION SHIFTED INTO LOW GEAR CAUSING ME TO PULL OVER AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE.
POWER STEERING RACK NOISE BACKING CAR UP STEERING CAR OR JUST DRIVING HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP
HARSH JERKING AND SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING. FORD HAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR THIS PROBLEM, YET THEY REFUSED TO FIX MINE BECAUSE ITS 65000 MILES. WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT THIS WHEN I GOT THE CAR (~35000) - WOULD HAVE FIXED SOONER IF I WAS. GOT CLUTCH REPLACED MONTHS AGO, FIXED THIS FOR A LITTLE, NOW THE PROBLEM IS BACK.
MY FORD FOCUS 2114 KEEPS STALLING AT RANDOM WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY I NEEDED IT TOWED TO JACK MADDEN FORD NORWOOD MASS 2 TIMES BUT IT HAS STALLED AND WOULD EVENTUALLY RESTART. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL STSTEM), BUT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
A LETTER ADDRESSED TO PRESIDENT TRUMP EXPRESSING CONCERNS REGARDING THE DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION IN HER 2014 FORD FOCUS. *AS *JS
VEHICLE "SHUDDERS" EXCESSIVELY UPON ACCELERATION AFTER A STOP. STALLED ACCELERATION THAT ALMOST LEAD TO CRASH.TAKEN TO FORD DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THAT THE DUAL CLUTCH ON THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT 63,000 MILES
STILL WAITING FOR SETTLEMENT RECALL TRANSMISSION RELATED PROBLEM NOT BEING REPAIRED RIGHT I WAS IT MANUFACTURED IF IT WAS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE
ON 10/25/18. CAR AT DALE IN NEUTRAL. HEAT ON SETTING SPEED 2. SECOND SETTING FLOOR DASH COMBO. THE VENTS ON DASH WERE HOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE BURNS TO HANDS IF TOUCHED. GAUGE FOR ENGINE TEMP SHOWED MID RANGE. CHECK OF ANTIFREEZE SHOWED ADIQUITE LEVEL. WHEN CAR WAS IN MOTION THE TEMP WAS COOLER BUT STILL WARMER THAN IT SHOULD BE.
Transmission issues. Repaired multiple times but keeps coming back. Out of warranty but needs repaired again.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A STOP, IT SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING AND THEN RESTARTED. THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT PROVIDED. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER 2018 AND THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE 10 MONTHS LATER.
WHILE DRIVING FROM STORE AND HAVING MY 4 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER. MY REAR LEFT DOOR OPEN. AT FIRST I THOUGHT I CLOSE IT BUT YET I DIDN'T SINCE THE CAR SEAT IS ON THE OTHER SIDE. I HAVE THE DOOR TIDE WITH CABLE UNTIL IT GETS REPAIR.

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, WHO REPAIRED WITH THE SAME PARTS. THE VEHICLE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED AND BROKE DOWN WITH THE SAME ISSUE AFTER DRIVING 50 FT. UNTIL TODAY, THE TRANSMISSION IS UNPREDICTABLE AND UNSAFE, AND NOW THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WENT OUT, LUCKILY I JUST GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND BACK TO WORK WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I'VE SEEM NUMEROUS REPORTS ON BOTH OF THESE ISSUES, AND FORD WANTS $2500 TO REPAIR THE STEERING, AND SAYS THEY CANNOT CHECK THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL THEN. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THEY AREN'T SURE IF THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE REPAIRED AGAIN, AND IT WOULD DEPEND ON HOW 'BAD' IT IS. THIS IS A COMPLETELY UNSAFE VEHICLE, WHICH I AM STILL PAYING FOR, AND IS UNUSABLE AT THIS TIME, UNLESS I DECIDE TO DRIVE IT IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. FORD IS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS OR SAFETY.

ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYNC SYSTEM HAS SHUT DOWN AND NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. WHILE THE SYNC WAS GOING OUT, THE SPEAKERS WOULD CRACKLE AND MAKE LOUD, STARTLING POP SOUNDS. THIS CAUSED JERKY DRIVING AS THEY WOULD POP WITHOUT ANY NOTICE, EVEN IF THE SYNC SYSTEM WAS TURNED OFF. RECENTLY, THE WIND SHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON AND WERE SPORADICALLY INCREASING/DECREASING IN SPEED AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. THE CAR WAS ON (NOT THE ENGINE) AND PARKED WHEN THE WIPERS TURNED ON. ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE CAR OFF, RESET BY OPENING THE DOORS, AND TURNING THE CAR BACK ON. THEY PAUSED AND THEN STARTED UP AGAIN ONCE THE CAR WAS DRIVING ON CITY STREETS. THE SPEAKERS POPPING AND THE RADIO MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHILE DRIVING, WHILE PARKED, WHEN THE CAR IS ON, AND WHEN IT IS OFF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE OVER THE PAST YEAR.

I HAVE NOTICED THIS HAPPENING BOTH IN TOWN DRIVING AND HIGHWAY DRIVING, THE DELAY IN ACCELERATION OR STUTTERING. THERE IS ALSO A DISTINCT SHUDDER THAT HAPPENS OCCASIONALLY. I AM NOT SURE IF IT IS AN ISSUE WITH FUEL (FLOODING MAYBE? OR A DELAY IN FUEL INJECTION?) OR AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER TRAIN (ANY ISSUE IN THE TRANSMISSION WITH SHIFTING?) OR MAYBE AN ISSUE IN SPEED CONTROL (A MISSED CONNECTION BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL OR THROTTLE CONTROL CABLES AND THE NEXT STEP IN THE CHAIN?). I JUST KNOW THAT SOMETIMES I NEED TO ACCELERATE TO GET IN A SPOT IN A LINE OF TRAFFIC AND WHEN THE CAR DOESN'T 'GO' WHEN I NEED IT TO AND IT SHUDDERS OR HAS A STUTTER OR DELAY, IT CAUSES THE CAR I WAS GETTING IN FRONT OF TO HAVE TO BRAKE AND IF THEY DON'T, THEN MY CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT ARE PUT AT RISK. TWICE BEFORE THE INITIAL WARRANTY WAS UP AND THEN AGAIN LAST YEAR WHEN THEY EXTENDED THE ONE TIME WARRANTY REPAIR. THE CLUTCH ISSUE IS STILL PERSISTING AND THEY MADE ME PAY FOR A THROW OUT BEARING LAST TIME IT WAS REPLACED EVEN THOUGH THAT PART WAS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE CLUTCH PROBLEM THE CAR HAS HAD SINCE PURCHASE. THE 4 OTHER TIMES I BROUGHT THE CAR IN I WAS JUST TOLD THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE CAR TO SHAKE A LITTLE. IT HAS EXCESSIVE 'SHUDDER' FROM THE CLUTCH ENGAGEMENT AND WILL LURCH OR FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN MOVING FROM A STOP SIGN, OR WHEN MAKING LOW-SPEED MOVEMENTS. THIS REPRESENTS A SAFETY CONCERN AS IT MAY FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING, ENTERING TRAFFIC OR MAKING EVASIVE MANEUVERS. THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING, HOWEVER, THE MOST SERIOUS INSTANCE OF THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED ON SEPTEMBER 29TH 2018, WHERE MY VEHICLE DRAMATICALLY SHUDDERED AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHILE RETURNING HOME FROM A SHORT TRIP. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED ON NOV 3RD BY A FORD DEALER WHO INDICATED THE CLUTCH AND RELATED PARTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, THEY ALSO NOTIFIED US THAT THIS WAS REPLACED ONCE BEFORE WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD ABOUT 24,000 MILES. AT PRESENT, THE VEHICLE HAS A BIT OVER 79,000 MILES. UPON CONTACTING FORD TO DETERMINE WHETHER MY VEHICLE WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE CLUTCH SERVICE RECALL '14M01', THEY INDICATED THAT I WOULD NEED TO CONTACT NHTSA IN ORDER TO HAVE MY VEHICLE FLAGGED AS ELIGIBLE.
LUG NUTS. I HIT A CURB NEAR MY HOUSE CUTTING THE SIDE WALL OF MY TIRE. TIME WENT FLAT. WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE THE TIRE THE LUG WRENCH WOULD NOT FIT ONTO THE LUG NUT. I CALLED FORD FOR HELP THE TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE ALUMINUM COVER ON NUT "SWELLS" MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE WRENCH TO FIT. I HAD TO POUND THE WRENCH ON WITH A RUBBER MALLET, AND KNOCK IT OFF AFTER LOOSENING THE NUT. IF I WAS ON A FREEWAY WITH OUT ACCESS TO A MALLET I WOULD HAVE BEEN STRANDED AND IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. FORD TOLD ME IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL MANUFACTURES, LES SCHWAB WHERE I BOUGHT MY TIRES TOLD ME THEY SEE IT EVERY DAY, A COMMON PROBLEM, THE TIRE SHOP AT COSTCO WHERE I WORK TOLD ME THE SAME. I SOUNDS TO ME YOU ARE PUTTING PEOPLES LIVE IN DANGER BY LETTING CAR COMPANY'S GET AWAY WITH THIS. THEY SHOULD AT LEAST BE SUPPLYING DRIVERS WITH RUBBER MALLETS.

Additionally, the contact stated upon coming to a complete stop, the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound. The contact also stated that the vehicle shuddered and hesitated to respond while driving from a complete stop. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while at a complete stop at the traffic light. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound while shifting into reverse(R) and failed to respond intermittently when shifting into reverse(R). The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the TCM was operable, and that the failure was due to the transmission clutch shudder. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Ford Campaign Number: 19N08; however, the dealer informed the contact that the campaign had expired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

AND IT WAS FIXED TUES. $3004.96 LATER...

I CONTACTED A FRIEND WHO WAS AN AUTOMOTIVE TECHNICIAN HE MADE ME AWARE OF THE ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE VEHICLE AND HOW IT WOULD BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL. I WENT FORWARD AND HAD THE CLUTCH AND TRAINING MODULE REPLACED UNDER THE WARRANTY. TWELVE MONTHS LATER I START EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE CAR. I BROUGHT IT AGAIN THE FORD DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TRAINING MODULE BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE CLUTCH BECAUSE IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH FORD DIRECTLY IF I WANTED THIS PART TO BE COVERED BY FORD. I WAS ALSO MADE AWARE THAT THE SAME PARTS WERE REPLACED IN 2015 BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I CONTACTED FORD AND SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AND A SUPERVISOR.. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT THEY WOULD SUBMIT MY ISSUES TO A THIRD PARTY ARBITRATOR. THAT WAS ALMOST TWO MONTHS AGO. I HAD HEARD OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS GOING ON WITH FORD REGARDING THIS ISSUE.. ALTHOUGH I WAS PAST THE FILING DEADLINE TO BE PART OF THE INITIAL LAWSUIT THE WEBSITE SAID THEY WOULD STILL ADDRESS MY CONCERNS. I WAS ALSO MADE AWARE THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY BEFORE I STARTED THE ARBITRATION PROCESS. I CONTACTED THEM A REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ME.. REVIEWED MY CASE AND TOLD ME HE COULD ONLY OFFER ME $400 FOR MY INCONVENIENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER MY STATE'S LEMON LAW. WHEN I MENTIONED MY CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE $400 WOULD ONLY COVER A FRACTION OF THE COST HE SAID THEY COULD HELP WITH THE REPAIR UNCERTAIN IF IT WOULD BE COVERED IN FULL. SO I DECIDED TO CONTACT MY STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THEY HAVE AGREED TO HELP ME WITH MY CASE BUT SUGGESTED I REPORT MY ISSUES TO THIS AGENCY.
