FORD FOCUS IS HIGHLY VULNERABLE TO ELECTRIC DEFECTS IN WHICH INDICATORS APPEAR FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AFTER BEING ATTAINED TO, BRAKE TENDS TO SLIP UNEXPECTEDLY, BLUETOOTH HAS STOPPED WORKING, USB PORTS,BRAKE LAMP FAULTS. MY MAIN CONCERN FOR OTHER DRIVERS AND MY SELF IS THE VULNERABILITY TO SHARP TURN AND THE CRUCIAL ACCELERATION DELAYS. THESE PROBLEMS WERE ATTAINED TO AND MAINTAINED BY FORD MULTIPLE TIMES, PROBLEMS OCCUR WITHIN 1-2WEEKS AFTER MAINTENANCE. I'M CONCERNED EVEN MORE ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE AND SHAKING AT HIGH SPEED AS WELL THAT HASN'T BEEN REVISED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BECOME STUCK IN BETWEEN GEARS, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE NOT TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HARRIS FORD LINCOLN (20006 64TH AVE W, LYNWOOD, WA 98036) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CLUTCH HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
2014 FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WENT OUT 3 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWN THE CAR. STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHT FOOT. ON BREAK CAR IN DRIVE CAR GOES FLYING BACKWARDS . TOOK CAR TO POLICE STATION IN N BARBOURSVILLE WEST VIRGINIA TO REPORT IT THEY LAUGHED AT ME. CAR JUMP'S WILL NOT GO. THEN SENDS YOU FLYING BACKWARDS OR FORWARD. CAR IS TRYING TO KILL ME DRIVING THE CAR IN THE STREETS IS WHEN THIS HAPPENED OR WAITING TO PULL OUT ON THE STREETS IN GOING FROM 2017 TO 2019
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND STALLED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO RESET THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED FOR SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO UPPER MARLBORO FORD (LOCATED AT 5701 CRAIN HIGHWAY, UPPER MARLBORO, MD 20772, TEL: (301) 627-5600). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE ABNORMALLY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE PCM/TCM SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,122.
CAR BADLY STUTTERS, MAKES IT HARD TO TAKE OFF AT LIGHTS. VERY DANGEROUS AT INTERSECTIONS. SOMETIMES CAN FEEL LIKE THE CAR IS POWERING OUT. VERY ROUGH WHEN SWITCHING GEARS. YOU CAN EVEN HEAR A GRINDING SOUND AND GREAT VIBRATIONS OF THE CAR. SOME DAYS YOU DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT.

ADDITIONALLY, A GRINDING SOUND WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN WHEN DRIVING FROM A STANDING START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER RED MCCOMBS FORD LOCATED AT 7111 NORTHWEST LOOP 410, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78238 WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DISPLAYED A TRANSMISSION FAULT CODE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER APPROXIMATELY FIFTEEN MINUTES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,200.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering and shaking and failed to shift into the proper gear. The transmission overheating warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off. The contact waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle and drove home safely. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 32,500.
UPON STARTUP NO POWER STEERING, MAKING STEERING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. DASHBOARD MESSAGE STATING "ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST FAULT NEEDS SERVICE NOW" DIAGNOSIS CAME BACK STEERING GEAR IS BAD. CLASS ACTION HAS BEEN FILED FOR 2012-14 FORD FOCUS AS WELL AS 2010-2014 FORD FUSION SO IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT STILL NO ASSISTANCE BY FORD.
FRONT TIMING COVER OIL LEAK. FAULTY SILICONE WON'T SEAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND WHEN THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO SWITCH GEARS, IT FAILED TO DOWN SHIFT. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO REVERSE THE VEHICLE TO AVOID BEING IN TRAFFIC HOWEVER THE REVERSE FUNCTION FAILED AS WELL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE KOONS SILVER SPRING FORD DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CLUTCH HAD PREVIOUSLY REPLACED ON JUNE 10, 2015. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS PREVIOUSLY PROVIDED DUE TO THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION WARRANTY WHICH HAD SINCE EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000.

FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO MOVING THE VEHICLE HAS A LITTLE BIT OF SHAKING WHEN GOING INTO FIRST AND SECOND GEAR ALSO THE BREAK LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT WORK BUT EVERYTHING ELSE WITH THAT LIGHT WORKS.
TAMARA RECALL-BOUGHT 2014 FORD FOCUS IN 2017.RAN ROUGH.HAD ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION RECALLED AND REPLACED.CAR HAD VIBRATION, SHAKING ON ACCELERATION AND VERY LITTLE POWER AFTER.FORD TOLD ME 1- THAT'S HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO RUN AND 2- KEEP TAKING IT BACK- I HAVE A GOOD WARRANTY.EVENTUALLY THEY WOULD FIND SOMETHING WRONG AND FIX IT.I HATE MY CAR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. EDDINS FORD IN MADISON, VIRGINIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE RECALL AND STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE DUE TO ONLY RECEIVING A FEW OF THEM PER MONTH FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
WHEN FILLING WITH CAR AT GAS STATION THE AUTO PUMP SHUT OFF DOES NOT FUNCTION SPEWING FUEL ALL OVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. FUEL GAUGES ON CAR ARE NOT ACCURATE. TOOK CAR TO FORD THERE IS A TSB 15-0034 FOR THIS ISSUE. THE FUEL TANK WAS DISTORTED/DEFORMED CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO MALFUNCTION OVERFLOWING INTO THE EVAP CANISTER. THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION AND IS A FIRE HAZARD WHEN FILLING THE CAR WITH GAS. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL DUE TO FIRE AND SAFETY HAZARDS.
MY REAR WINDSHIELD SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED WHEN I TURNED MY CAR ON. FRONTIER FORD SANTA CLARA DEALERSHIP NOW REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY DESPITE SOME CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ERROR AND NOT THE RESULT OF BLUNT IMPACT (UNIFORM SHARDING, INCLUDING AT THE EDGES, NO SPIDERWEB PATTERN).

WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE UP A STEEP CITY STREET, THE ENGINE LUGGED DOWN AND ALMOST DIED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE REACHING THE TOP OF THE HILL. I WOULD RELEASE AND STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL AND IT WOULD REV UP A LITTLE, BUT THEN THE POWER WOULD DROP OFF AGAIN ALMOST DIED EACH TIME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX IT. THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING DOWN UNDER LOAD AS IT SHOULD HAVE. IT NOW APPEARS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY. IF THE ENGINE HAD QUIT, POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WOULD HAVE BEEN LOST AND IF THAT HAD HAPPENED I MAY HAVE ROLLED BACK DOWN THE HILL, THROUGH A BARRICADE AND ONTO THE FREEWAY ABOUT 30 FEET BELOW. THANK GOD THAT DID NOT HAPPEN.
FORD FOCUS WILL LOSE POWER ON THE HIGHWAY. FORD TOLD ME THAT'S HOW THE CAR IS AND THAT THE CLUTCH ON THE FOCUS AND FIESTA ARE FAULTY FROM THE FACTORY. THE CAR IS A 2014 WITH 62,000 MILES.
JUNE 1, 2017: I TOOK MY 2014 FORD FOCUS ST, WITH ~10,500K MILES ONLY 4 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY, TO A DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WARRANTY RECALLS. JUNE 2, 2017: THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT WHILE REPROGRAMMING THE BCM, BODY CONTROL MODULE, THE COMPUTER WAS WIPED AND THE CAR WOULD NOT START. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY ATTEMPTED TO REPROGRAM IT AGAIN BUT DID NOT WORK BUT THAT THEY HAD OPENED A TICKET WITH FORD'S TECHNICAL SUPPORT. THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDED A LOANER CAR TO ME FOR THE WEEKEND. JUNE 6, 2017: THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME THEY STILL HAD NOT RECEIVED A FIX FROM FORD AND THAT FORD KNEW OF THE ISSUE AND HAD REPLIED THAT THEY WOULD PROVIDE AN UPDATE WITHIN 7 BUSINESS DAYS. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP THE LOANER CAR UNTIL THE WORK WAS COMPLETE. I CALLED FORD'S SERVICE LINE TO ATTEMPT TO ESCALATE THE ISSUE. I WAS PROVIDED THE CASE NUMBER, AS REFERENCED, AND TOLD TO TALK TO THE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE MANAGER. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT UNFORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOTHING HIS TECHNICIANS COULD DO BUT TO WAIT FOR A FIX FROM FORD. JUNE 15, 2017: I CONTACTED FORD SERVICE LINE AGAIN AND THE CASE WAS ESCALATED TO A REGIONAL MANAGER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND THAT FORD HAS NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX. THE VEHICLE IS STILL NON-FUNCTIONAL. FORD HAS TOLD ME THEY HAVE NO FIX AND NO TIMELINE FOR A FIX. THE DEALERSHIP IS WAITING ON FORD TO PROVIDE A FIX AS IT'S A COMPUTER ISSUE AND THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO SOLVE IT.
THE RADIO SHORTS OUT AND MAKES VERY LOUD POPPING NOISES. WILL HAPPEN EVEN IF THE RADIO IS OFF OR THE VOLUME IS AT 0. THIS HAPPENS IN ANY STATE AS LONG AS THE CAR IS ON. IT IS SEEMINGLY RANDOM IN OCCURRENCE. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE PARKED, CITY DRIVING, HIGHWAY DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER. IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A ROTATING TRANSMISSION. ALSO, THE PARTS FOR THE DOOR LATCH RECALL REPAIR WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO WORK WITHOUT WARNING AND THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR MORE FUEL. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE LOCAL DEALER (NORTH BROTHERS FORD LOCATED AT 33300 FORD RD, WESTLAND, MI 48185 (800) 586-4203) STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD TO PAY TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-392-3673 AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,900.
ELECTRIC FAILURE OF POWER STEERING. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A "SHORT" THAT CAUSED THE POWER STEERING MECHANISM TO FAIL. LESS THAN 3 YEARS AND 48K MILES. SUDDEN FAILURE WITH TOTAL LOSS OF POWER STEERING.
TRANSMISSION: WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE TRANSMISSION IN SOME CASES WILL SHIFT VERY RAPIDLY GIVING THE VEHICLE NO ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE FEELS SLUGGISH AND VIBRATES. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING OVER SPEED HUMPS OR THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN ALMOST EVERY INSTANCE THE VEHICLE STARTS TO VIBRATE AFTER GOING OVER THE SPEED HUMP OR THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. FUEL PUMP: WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE CAR LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING IN LAS CRUCES, NEW MEXICO. THE CAR DID NOT STALL COMPLETELY HOWEVER WHEN DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR WOULD JUST NOW INCREASE IN RPM'S. I TOOK THE CAR INTO A MECHANICS SHOP AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM. I DRIVE THE CAR FOR ANOTHER YEAR AND THIS TIME THE CAR AGAIN STARTED TO SPUTTER. IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE FUEL PUMP.
IF I AM STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN ON AN INCLINE, AND I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK, THE CAR WILL ROLL BACK UNTIL I AM ON LEVEL GROUND; ALL WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND EACH TIME THEY SAY THAT IT IS JUST THE WAY THIS MODEL IS AND THEY CAN NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF OTHERS BECAUSE I MAY TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK AND BEFORE I CAN APPLY GAS I MAY ROLL INTO THE CAR BEHIND ME.

THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK, THEN INTO NEUTRAL, AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED BUT HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS THE TRUNK DECK LID FLEW OPEN. AS I WAS SLOWING UP TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY THE TRUNK LID BLOCKED MY CENTER REVIEW MIRROR AND MADE IT UNSAFE TO GET TO THE SIDE IF THE ROAD. AT CITY SPEEDS 20-30 MPH I HAVE HAD THE DECK LID OPEN AND IT IMMEDIATELY BLOCKS THE VIEW OF THE MIRROR. TRUNK HAD NOTHING IN IT THAT WAS BLOCKING OR HITTING THE TRUNK RELEASE CABLES OR THE WORING HARNESS. INSPECTION OF THE WIRING HARNESS SHOWS NO VISABLE DAMAGE. POSSIBLE WIRING SHORT IN A NON-ACCESSIBLE LOCATION.
THE CAR SHUDDERS AND SHAKES WHILE DRIVING! THE VEHICLE STALLS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR AT YEILD SIGNS ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD.WHEN STOPPED AT RED LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS AND TRYING TO START OFF CAR SHUDDERS AND SHAKES SO BAD IT MAY TAKE A FEW MINUTES FOR THE CAR TO ACTUALLY GO AGAIN. THE WORST ASPECT IS WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC OF EXPRESSWAYS OR LOCAL ROADS AND THE CAR STALLS!
WHEN ACCELERATING OR GOING UP HILL, THE CAR DOES NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND CAUSES THE CAR TO SHUTTER. MY CAR IS AT 71,000 MILES RIGHT NOW, AND THIS PART WAS ALREADY REPLACED IN JANUARY, 2015 AND AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER, 2016 AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN.
ON MAY 6, 2017 WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MILES PER HOUR, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY PROPULSION, AND EFFECTIVELY STALLED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. (IT WAS NOT ON BEFORE). THE VEHICLE SLOWLY LOST POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFELY INTO A PARKING LOT. I HAD IT TOWED TO A NEARBY FIRESTONE, WHICH RAN A DIAGNOSTIC WHICH REVEALED THAT A PORTION OF THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAS RESULTED IN SPLICING OF WIRES, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, #14-0215 BUT THAT FOR IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE STILL IS UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND EFFECTIVELY STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING, AND I'M LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS HARMED. SEE ATTACHED INVOICE FOR REPAIR INFORMATION.
THE VEHICLE KICKS FORWARD DURING BRAKING. IT FEELS LIKE THIS HAPPENS AFTER A FULL CHARGE THE FIRST TIME THAT THE REGENERATIVE BRAKING MECHANISM TURNS ON. I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED A STRONG KICK WHEN BRAKING AND GOING OVER A BUMPS, SUCH AS THE BUMPS THAT ARE ON LANE DIVIDERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE "HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE STOP SAFELY" ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWN HEAD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I BOUGHT MY CAR JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO, 4/2017 ALMOST IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED THIS "SPUTTERING" ANYTIME I WOULD MOVE FORWARD FROM A COMPLETE STOP. SOME PEOPLE CALLING THIS A SHUTTER. THE HESITATION IS AT EVERY STOP ON EVERY TAKE OFF. I TOOK IT IN TO A FORD DEALERSHIP NEAR MY HOME, & I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM AT FORD & IT INVOLVED A CLUTCH ISSUE OR FAULTY TCM WITH THIS AUTOMATIC MANUAL TRANSMISSION. FORD WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, YET CONTINUED TO SELL THESE CARS. THE FORD SERVICE TECH MANAGER AFTER HEARING MY ISSUES, LOOKED UP MY CARS ZIN & TOLD ME THAT FORD STOPPED THE RECALL ON MY MODEL FOCUS ON CARS MADE AFTER JUNE 2013. MY CAR WAS BUILT 8/13 TWO MONTHS AFTER THE RECALL DEADLINE. SO LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT EVERY CAR MADE IN THIS FOCUS STYLE FROM 2012 -2014 EXCEPT MY CAR AND A FEW OTHERS BILL AFTER 6/13 ARE COVERED UNDER A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT I AM HAVING. I WAS TOLD THIS IS BECAUSE THEY PUT NEW TYPE SEALS IN THE TRANSMISSION AFTER 6/13. THEY DID A TCM FLASH TO THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS COVERED UNDER A RECALL SO FORD KNOWS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE EVEN FOR CARS MADE AFTER 6/13 OR THEY WOULD NOT NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ISSUED FOR IT. THE MANGER TOOK IN MY COMPLAINTS IN STRIDE AND SAID MANY FOCUS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. SO I GUESS I JUST BOUGHT THE MOST DANGEROUS VEHICLE THAT I HAVE EVER DRIVEN (30 YEARS AND 10 CARS LATER) IN MY LIFE. I'M GUESS I'M WONDERING WHY FORD WOULD STOP THE RECALL MIDYEAR WHEN CLEARLY THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS OBVIOUSLY IN CARS AFTER BEING BUILT ON OR AFTER 6/13. IT SHUDDERS AT TAKE OFF, HAS TROUBLE GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND. THE CAR DOES THIS WHEN STARTING FROM A DEAD STOP MOSTLY BUT IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO A LIGHT, THE LIGHTS CHANGES AND THE CAR SOMETIMES HESITATES OR LURCHES AS ITS TRY'S TO FIND THE RIGHT GEAR WHILE STARTING TO GOING FASTER AGAIN.
TRANSMISSION SEALS ARE LEAKING. FORD PUT OUT A MASSIVE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM TSB THAT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR FOCUSES BUILT BEFORE JUNE 2013. MY CAR WAS BUILT WITHIN 6 MONTHS AFTER THAT DATE BUT HAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THEY PUT OUT ANOTHER TSB WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION WHICH DOES COVER MY CAR BUT IT DOES NOT COVER THE TRANSMISSION SEALS. FORD KNOWS IT HAS A MASSIVE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHICH WAS NOT PROPERLY FIXED WHEN MY CAR WAS PRODUCED. YET I AM ON THE HOOK FOR PAYING FOR THE FIX.
COOLANT LEAKING FROM BOTTLE RESERVOIR; ONTO ENGINE CAUSING SMOKE
SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE WE HAVE ALL READY HAD THE CONTROL MODULAR CHANGED AND IT WAS PREVIOUSLY CHANGED 2 TIMES BY PREVIOUS OWNER IT NOW HAS BEEN AFFECTING THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AGAIN AND IT IS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR VIOLENTLY SHACKS WHEN YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP, IT SOME TIMES WON'T EVEN GO AT ALL! THIS HAS BECOME A MAJOR ISSUE AND EVERY OTHER FOCUS OWNER I SPEAK WITH SAYS THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING... IT ALL STARTED ONE DAY AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2014 FOCUS CAR FROM A DEALER. WHEN I PULL OUT FROM A STOP SIGN OR WHEN ACCELERATING AS THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN, THE CAR HESITATES AND SPUTTERS BEFORE FINALLY KICKING INTO GEAR. IT SEEMS TO BE FINE ONCE IT SETTLES INTO PLACE BUT IT'S PRETTY SCARY UNTIL IT DOES. I DREAD WHEN I HAVE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP. IT SEEMED TO BE CLOSE TO BREAKING DOWN OR STALLING ON A FEW OCCASIONS. I'M ONLY A FEW DAYS INTO OWNING THIS CAR AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I WAS PROMISED A LONG LIFE FOR THIS CAR BUT NOW I'M NOT SO SURE, THE SYMPTOMS ARE SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO THE LAST CAR I OWNED (AN ESCAPE) - SPUTTERING, HESITATION, STALLING AND THEN IT TOTALLY QUIT ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A HILL. THE ENGINE BLEW UP. THIS HAPPENED AFTER I PICKED UP THE CAR AFTER REPAIRS FROM THE SAME DEALER. FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS. MORE TO THAT STORY BUT I AM AFRAID TO BRING IT BACK FOR REPAIRS FEARING WHATEVER IS WRONG WITH IT, IT WONT BE COVERED. BUT WHAT CHOICE DO I HAVE? HELP?
MY VEHICLE HAD BEEN BROUGHT IN FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEFORE FOR SLIPPING, AND DELAY WHEN THE GAS IS DEPRESSED. SINCE THE REPAIR I'VE NOTICED THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION WHILE PUT IN REVERSE WILL FEEL LIKE IT SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL. IT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS BACKING INTO MY PARKING SPOT IN MY APARTMENT COMPLEX. THE TRANSMISSION IS ALSO VERY JERKY WHEN ACCELERATING ON AN INCLINE AND WILL START TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THIS WAS ALSO A PROBLEM PRIOR TO THE INITIAL REPAIR SO I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS SIGNIFYING THE RETURN OF THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL ARE ALSO NON-RESPONSIVE OR WILL CONTROL SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR (EX: VOLUME + AND - CHANGE THE RADIO STATION OR END A CALL). IN ADDITION TO THIS, THE SYNC SYSTEM WILL EITHER NOT CONNECT TO THE PHONE VIA BLUETOOTH OCCASIONALLY OR IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE DEVICE. KEEP IN MIND THAT THE PHONE CONNECTING IS A GALAXY S7, SO I KNOW IT IS COMPATIBLE. THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ON GOING AND WERE ADDRESSED IN THE INITIAL TRANSMISSION REPAIRS BUT THEY WERE NOT RESOLVED. THE SECOND TRANSMISSION ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN ON THE ANNOTATED DATE.

UNIT ALSO LOST POWER AT 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN DRIVING BUT MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN, HAD TO PULL OVER IN A PANIC, UNIT WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN PUT IN GEAR EVEN WHEN GIVING FUEL, LIGHTS BLINKING (PRDL LIGHTS) ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING, SEEMS TO BE OK AFTER IT SITS FOR AWHILE. I HAVE READ PLENTY REVIEWS AND EVEN CHECKED MY CREDIT REPORT WHERE FORD CARS OF THE 2014 HAS RECALLS ON THE FUEL PUMP OR FUEL SYSTEM. WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT THE CAR WE HAD TO GET THE CLUTCH REPLACE AND IT STILL HAD GAGING ISSUES. THE CAR CUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC AND I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DUE TO THE FACT THAT KT WOULD NEVER COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS. WE EVEN CALLED A FORD AND THEY WOULD NOT HELP US. THIS FUEL SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR DID NOT OPEN AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE RECALL REPAIR, CITING THAT THE FIRST DEALER DESTROYED THE DOOR. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50.
AFTER BEING STALLED IN TRAFFIC FOR OVER AN HOUR I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION AND STARTED MY VEHICLE TO LEAVE. IMMEDIATELY I COULD FEEL SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY STEERING AND MY ALERT POPPED ON AND SAID PEER STEERING ASSIST WARNING. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT'S A COMMON FOR THE ELECTRIC COMPONENT TO FAIL AFTER IDLING. THEY SAID THAT'S THIS HAS HAPPENED TO PEOPLE AS THEY ARE DRIVING. STEERING JUST FAILS. THEY SAID IT WAS A FUSE THAT OVERHEATS AFTER IDLING FOR SO LONG WITHOUT WARNING. IF THIS IS A COMPONENT THAT FAILS THAT AFFECTS STEERING IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND CHANGED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.
