THE TRANSMISSION CAUSES THE CAR TO SHUDDER AND JERK ON ACCELERATION, AND HAS CAUSED A MISS-SHIFT WHILE TURNING LEFT, SHIFTING INTO A HIGH GEAR AND STALLING IN ON COMING TRAFFIC MULTIPLE TIMES. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, WITH THE SAME FAULTY DESIGN, AND IS FAILING A THIRD TIME WITH 50,000 MILES. CAR WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW
SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (NEW), I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BE REPAIRED TO AN AUTHORIZED FORD DEAL DURING THE 3 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT - ONCE, THEY REPLACED/REBUILT THE CLUTCH, TWICE FOR UPDATES TO THE COMPUTER, AND A SEPARATE TIME FOR THE TIRES AND WHEEL WELL (THE DEALERSHIP SAID SOME OF THE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY UNEVENNESS IN TIRES, THE WHEEL WELL ALSO NEEDED REPAIR AFTER MY TIRES WERE ROTATED). THE CAR CONSISTENTLY STRUGGLES TO ACCELERATE AFTER COMING TO STOP, SUCH AS AT A YIELD, MERGE, STOP SIGN, STOP LIGHTS, OR FROM SLOWING DOWN. IT SHAKES, JERKS, STUTTERS, MAKES A CREAKING METAL SOUND, AND MOST CONCERNING, STALLS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO LEARN MY DRIVING STYLE, HOWEVER, THREE YEARS IS AN UNACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. I TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ALL MAINTENANCE. I HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND TIRES ROTATED REGULARLY, IN ADDITION TO THE INSPECTION DONE BY THE DEALERSHIP AT THAT TIME. WHEN I PRESS ON THE GAS FROM A SLOWED OR STOPPED POSITION, THE CAR SHOULD ACCELERATE, BUT IT STALLS. IT CONSISTENTLY STALLS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. THIS IS NOT SAFE, ESPECIALLY SINCE THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. I HAVE CONTINUED TAKING IT FOR REPAIRS TO A FORD AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP ONLY, LEAVING THE VEHICLE FOR DAYS AT A TIME, AND THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. ADDITIONALLY, THE MILEAGE I GET WITH THE CAR IS LOWER THAN EXPECTED AND A FORD EMPLOYEE ASSERTED TO ME IT IS DUE TO THE ENGINE ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH AND SEAL NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,500.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHILE CHANGING GEARS. HAD BOMMARITO FORD DEALERSHIP IN HAZELWOOD, MO INSPECT ON 12/7/2016. WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH NEEDS REPLACEMENT. THE CAR HAS 19,674 MILES WHEN INSPECTED. CLUTCH IS BACKED ORDER AND THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED THE WIRING HARNESS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN DECEMBER 2015. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE SINCE I BOUGHT IT . IT SHUDDERS WHEN TAKING OFF AND GOING UP A HILL. IT ALSO ROLLS BACKWARD BY ITSELF. IT IS DEFINITELY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT ADDITIONAL WARRANTY WITH IT. I WAS JUST INFORMED WHEN I PICKED IT UP AFTER BEING REPAIRED THE LAST TIME THAT FORD FOCUS HAS A JUNK TRANSMISSION AND WILL GOT OUT AGAIN. I REALIZE THAT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE IT WAS PURCHASED USED BUT THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE SAFETY. IT ROLLED BACKWARDS ON A SLIGHT HILL EVEN THOUGH I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE. IT WAS A CITY STREET. LUCKILY, THE PERSON BEHIND ME WAS NOT TOO CLOSE AND THE I HAD STOPPED A LITTLE WAYS FROM THE PERSON IN FRONT OF ME, BECAUSE I HAD TO GAS IT TO GET IT TO QUIT ROLLING BACKWARDS.
2014 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE INVOLVED IN A FOUR VEHICLE COLLISION, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *SMD
2015 NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD HAD CLUTCH REPLACED DUE TO CAR SHUDDERING AND FAILED CLUTCH SHUDDER TEST. NOT EVEN A YEAR LATER, DOING IT AGAIN AND FORD IS TELLING ME THERE IS NO WARRANTY, IT IS OUT OF THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY THAT CAME WITH THE CAR. THEY WANT ME TO PAY $1100 OUT OF POCKET TO REPLACE A NEW CLUTCH DUE TO SHEDDER TEST FAILING AGAIN. THIS IS RIDICULOUS WHEN THEY KNOW A PROBLEM EXISTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN LOWER GEARS, IT SUDDENLY BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. CORWIN FORD OF SPRINGFIELD (3241 S. GLENSTONE AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE POWER TRAIN WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IN 2016 AND THE CLUTCH AND CONTROL MODULE WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
JERKING, SHUTTERING TRANSMISSION FROM STANDSTILL... SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHUDDERING DURING TAKE-OFF AND WHILE DRIVING. BASICALLY, THE CLUTCHES ARE SLIPPING CAUSING THE CAR TO SHUDDER, OR IN SOME CASES NOT MOVE AT ALL, EVEN THOUGH IN GEAR. AFTER RESEARCHING, LEARNED ABOUT A MASSIVE ISSUE THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF, BUT SOMEONE MY VEHICLE FALLS JUST OUTSIDE OF EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BY FORD, EVEN THOUGH EVERY TRANSMISSION OF THIS MODEL IS DEFECTIVE WITH A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. PAID $1400 FOR CLUTCH PACK REPAIR. HAD SAME REPAIR DONE, UNDER SERVICE WARRANTY 10,000 MILES AND EXACTLY 1 YEAR LATER. HAD SAME REPAIR DONE ANOTHER YEAR LATER, EXCEPT NO LONGER UNDER REPAIR WARRANTY, SO HAD TO PAY ANOTHER $1400. ACCORDING TO FORD SERVICE TECHNICIANS, THIS ISSUE REALLY IS NOT FIXABLE. THEY CAN ONLY REPLACE PARTS, WHICH IS A BAND-AID UNTIL THE EXACT SAME ISSUE HAPPENS AGAIN, WHICH IS FLUID LEAKINGG PAST SEALS AND RUINING THE CLUTCHES. UNFIXABLE, ONLY TEMP PATCH. SO, EVEN THOUGH FORD KNEW THIS TRANSMISSION HAD AN ISSUE BEFORE THE PUT IT INTO PRODUCTION, I NOW HAVE TO PAY $1400 EVERY TWO YEARS FOREVER, TO CONTINUE REPAIRING THEIR FLAW, HAVE A VEHICLE WITH DECREASED TRADE VALUE THAT I CAN'T GET RID OF. THESE CARS ARE ENTRY LEVEL. THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES CAN'T AFFORD TO FUND FORD'S CORPORATE GREED. HOW DARE THEM LOOK THE OTHER WAY AND NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DESIGN FLAWS THAT THEIR OWN ENGINEERS WARNED THEM ABOUT. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY APPLIED TO A SMALL SUBSET OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE PREVIOUS CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS A JOKE THAT ONLY PROVIDES RELIEF AFTER MANY THOUSANDS ARE SPENT ON REPAIRS. BASICALLY THE LAW FIRM GOT RICH AND THE AFFECTED CONSUMER GOT A JELLY-OF-THE-MONTH CLUB CERTIFICATE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. ALSO, THE PCM/TCM CLUTCH NEEDED TO BE RE-LEARNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,300.
FROM THE FIRST WEEK I HAD THE CAR SOMETHING HAS BEEN WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. IT JERKS AND DOESN'T ACCELERATE LIKE IT SHOULD, MAKES A HORRIBLE CRUNCHING SOUND. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE BEEN IN THE TURNING LANE AND HAD AMPLE ROOM TO TURN BEFORE A CAR GOT TO ME BUT THE CAR JERKS AND STALLS SO THAT I HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BECAUSE IT HAS NO POWER. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR FOR A WEEK, SAID THEY "COULDN'T REPLICATE" WHAT I REPORTED. IT DOESN'T DO IT EVERY TIME BUT IF THEY REALLY DROVE IT FOR A WEEK, IT WOULD HAPPEN. EVERYONE WHO EVER RIDES IN THE CAR WITH ME ASKS WHY IT CHUGS LIKE IT DOES. I'M GOING TO GET INTO A WRECK ONE DAY BECAUSE I SHOULD HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE MY TURN BUT THE CAR STALLS AND CHUGS SO MUCH THAT IT TAKES MUCH LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO GET SAFELY INTO WHERE I AM TURNING. IT MAKES ME PICK A DATE BELOW, BUT THIS IS A SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK FOR 3 YEARS OCCURRENCE.
WHILE BRAKING, THE "STOP SAFELY NOW" MESSAGE APPEARS AND ONCE STOPPED, THE CAR LOSES ALL MOTIVE POWER. OCCURRED FIRST IN NOV 2015 AND DEALER REPLACED WIRING HARNESS. PROBLEM RECURRED IN OCT. 2016 AND DEALER PERFORMED RECALL TSB. PROBLEM RECURRED A 3RD TIME IN NOV 2016 AND DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE FAILURE WHILE IN FOR SERVICE. "REPAIR" IMPLEMENTED DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM AS THE CAR HAD 4TH INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING OFF THE DEALER LOT. DEALER CURRENTLY HAS THE CAR AND IS IN COMMUNICATION WITH FORD.

AFTER GOING THROUGH A BUMP ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT 30 MPH THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE CAR. I WAS LESS THAN ONE MILE FROM HOME AND MANAGED WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY TO MAKE IT TO MY HOME. COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE, THERE IS NO WAY TO DRIVE THE CAR. VERY GLAD IT WAS ME DRIVING AND NOT MY DAUGHTER AS THIS HAPPENED IN A CURVE. THE CAR HAS 43,000 MILES ON IT. OVER 600 COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM AND SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE REPAIRS ARE EXPECTED TO BE AT LEAST $2,000. WHAT IS NHTSA DOING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. IT IS PRETTY OBVIOUS TO ME THERE IS A PROBLEM AND AN EMERGENCY RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED. FORD AND IT'S LOCAL DEALERS ARE UNWILLING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. WHAT'S GOING TO TAKE NHTSA! TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED.

THE MANUAL KEY ONLY OPENED THE DRIVER DOOR AND NOT THE PASSENGER DOORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCHES AND LOCKED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 12 MPH, THE CONTACT PAYING ATTENTION TO 3 PEDESTRIANS, A MOTHER AND 2 YOUNG CHILDREN, WHEN A VEHICLE CAME OUT OF NOWHERE CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG FAILED TO DEPLOY BUT THE KNEE BOLSTER AIRBAG DID DEPLOY AND THE SEATBELT TENSIONER ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE RIGHT BREAST CAUSED BY THE PRESSURE OF THE SEAT BELT THAT RETRACTED DURING THE CRASH. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GATE COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 13,000. *SM
AT 37,000 MILES EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT LOSS OF TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT. THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) REQUIRED REPLACEMENT, BUT ALSO DIRECTLY EFFECTED THE WEARING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH ASSEMBLE. THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED UNSAFE SYMPTOMS OF INTERMITTENT LOSS OF TRANSMISSION POWER/ ENGAGEMENT WHILE DRIVING, AT START FROM A LIGHT, PULLING OUT INTO ROADWAY. THE TWO PARTS WERE REPLACED AT THAT TIME BY A FORD DEALER. NOW, AT 64,000 MILES THE PROBLEM IS REOCCURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN ONCE AGAIN TO A FORD DEALER AND A CLAIM TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAD TO BE INITIATED BY THE DEALER FOR PARTIAL COVERAGE. A $300 DEPOSIT HAD TO BE PAID TOWARD THE $1,700 REPAIR BILL. IN OUR HOUSEHOLD WE ALSO HAVE A 2013 FORD FOCUS THAT HAD TO BE REPAIRED THREE TIMES NOW AT APPROX. 75,000 MILES. (REPORTED SEPARATELY). THESE ISSUES ARE WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED, HOWEVER, THE LEMON LAW OR NHTSA HAS DONE NOTHING TO HELP THE CONSUMER WITH MAKING FORD LIABLE FOR THE FULL COVERAGE OF THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH ASSEMBLY THAT IS DIRECTLY DAMAGED AND WORE OUT BECAUSE OF THE TCM DEFECT. FORD HAS ONLY EXTENDED A WARRANTY ON THE TCM, WHICH IS A VERY INEXPENSIVE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
I PURCHASED THIS FOCUS IN SEPTEMBER OF 2013. LITTLE DID I REALIZE THAT THIS WAS PROBABLY ONE OF THE WORST MISTAKES I MADE IN MY LIFE THUS FAR. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE CAR 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE STARTED HAPPENING. I DON'T DRIVE ERRATIC OR AGGRESSIVE I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP 12 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT IT, TO THE POINT THAT I HAVE MADE FRIENDS WITH SOME OF THE GUYS THERE. THE CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES AND THE MODULE HAS BEEN REPROGRAMMED AND EVERYTHING THAT FORD CLAIMS WILL "FIX" THE ISSUE. IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, THE MOST RECENT TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO FIX IT I COULDN'T ACCELERATE ONTO THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THE GEARS WOULDN'T GRAB AFTER SECOND, THEN THE CAR STALLED AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, SO I HAD TO NURSE THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART IT AND I FINALLY MADE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I CALLED FORD, AND THE BAD THING IS, IS THAT THEY KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEY WILL LOSE MONEY. I FINALLY SPOKE TO A REP AT FORD THAT DIRECTED ME TOWARDS THE BBB BECAUSE SHE FOUND OUT THAT I WAS IN THE MILITARY, SAYING THAT THE MILITARY MEMBERS SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH THINGS LIKE THIS BECAUSE WE DO SO MUCH FOR THE COUNTRY. I HAVE CONTACTED THE BBB AND THEY FINALLY SAID THAT THEY WILL HAVE A RESOLUTION WITHIN 14 DAYS FROM YESTERDAY. AND WHAT IS REALLY ALARMING IS THAT THE ONLY REASON I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE BBB OPTION IS BECAUSE OF MY MILITARY SERVICE. IT IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE I KNOW THIS ISSUE IS NATIONWIDE AND FORD WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. IT IS SAD TO SAY LIKE WITH THE ISSUE THAT TOYOTA HAD WITH THEIR CARS IS THAT SOMEONE HAS TO DIE AND SUE FORD BEFORE THIS ISSUE WILL GET RESOLVED, UNLESS YOU WANT TO TAKE DIRECT ACTION AGAINST FORD.

IT WAS RAINING, AND I WAS TRYING TO GET UP TO THE 55MPH SPEED LIMIT BUT THE CAR KEPT CHUGGING AND STUTTERING. OTHER VEHICLES WERE GOING AROUND ME AS MY SPEED SLOWLY CLIMBED, & AT ALMOST 50 MPH THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND, DESPITE TAPPING MY BRAKES, CONTINUED TO DO SO UNTIL IT HIT 65 MPH. I WAS SURROUNDED BY OTHER VEHICLES, AND PRESSED THE BRAKE HARDER TO AVOID HITTING THE LINE OF CARS IN FRONT OF ME, TO THE LEFT OF ME, OR HAVING TO SWERVE INTO THE DITCH ON MY RIGHT AT THIS HIGH RATE OF SPEED, BECAUSE TAPPING THE BRAKES CAUTIOUSLY WAS HAVING EFFECT ON THE CARS ACCELERATION. WHEN IT STOPPED QUICKLY ACCELERATING, IT CONTINUED TO STUTTER, BUT SEEMED TO LEVEL OFF AT MY CHOSEN SPEED. SINCE THEN, ITS CONTINUED TO STUTTER AND CHUG AND JUMP FORWARD ALMOST EVERY TIME I ACCELERATE, WHETHER FROM A COMPLETE STOP OR TO GO FASTER THAN MY CURRENT SPEED. IT'S TERRIFYING.
