I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS WITH 33000 MILES. IMMEDIATELY THE CAR STARTED DISPLAYING WHAT A MECHANIC DESCRIBED TO ME AS TRANSMISSION ISSUES. TO INCLUDE, SHUTTERING, DELAYED RESPONSE, JOLTING, HESITATING WHEN TAKING OFF, SLIPPING, STALLING, AND GOING BACKWARDS ON A HILL. THIS BECAME A REAL CONCERN WHEN I WAS TURNING, THE VEHICLE STARTED TAKING OFF, IT BOGGED DOWN, LOST POWER AND RESPONSIVENESS AND THEN JOLTED. THIS OCCURRED WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. THE DELAY WAS SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH THAT THE VEHICLE COMMON TOWARDS SWERVED OUT OF THE WAY. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT BUT COULD HAVE GONE A LOT WORSE. SECOND THE TRANSMISSION HAD THE SAME ACTION WHEN PASSING ON THE INTERSTATE, BOGGED DOWN AFTER ITS STARTED GOING AND THE PERSON CAME VERY CLOSE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR, AND AM CONCERNED. I CONTACTED FORD, NO RESPONSE. I TOOK IT TO A DEALER PHIL LONG FORD IN COLORADO SPRINGS, THEY INITIALLY SAID ITS SUPPOSE TO DO THAT AND ITS NORMAL. I HAD TO EXPLAIN THE SAFETY ISSUES AND WHAT WAS GOING ON BEFORE THEY WOULD SCHEDULE SOMEONE TO LOOK AT IT. THE FIRST TIME THEY WILL LOOK AT IT IS IN TWO MONTHS. NOW AM IN A PROBLEM, BECAUSE I EITHER DON'T DRIVE THE CAR AND PAY RENTAL COSTS OR DRIVE SOMETHING THAT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I JUST BOUGHT THIS, AND I SHOWED IT TO TWO PEOPLE TODAY TO TRY AND SELL, BOTH EXPERIENCED THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. ONE DIDN'T EVEN OFFER, THE OTHER GAVE SUCH A PRICE THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. I FEEL I'M GETTING NOTHING FROM THE COMPANIES THAT ARE SUPPOSE TO CARE ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE
I AM AWARE THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, THOUGH THE BEHAVIOR OF THIS VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF SAFETY AND ACCEPTABILITY. THE CAR ACTS, AT RANDOM INTERVALS, LIKE A VEHICLE WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION IN WHICH THE DRIVER "POPPED" THE CLUTCH, TO CAUSE THE DRIVE WHEELS TO SPIN IN PLACE. THIS FORD FOCUS DOES THIS, RANDOMLY, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS. I HAVE NEARLY SMASHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME FOUR TIMES. ALSO, AT THE RIPE OLD AGE OF 18,500 MILES, THE CLUTCH SLIPS, AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY). THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT CLEARLY THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW, CREATING MULTIPLE SAFETY CONCERNS IN THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS CAR. IN SUMMARY, THESE ARE: RANDOMLY REVVING HIGH AND POPPING THE CLUTCH (THINK DRAG RACERS) AND PREMATURE WEAR AND SLIPPING SO BAD I AM UNABLE TO SAFELY MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. FORD MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
THE TRANSMISSION IS SHUDDERING, SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AND IT FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. I COULD HEAR GRINDING NOISE, LIKE ITS AND BOLTS AND LOOSE.
2014 FORD FOCUS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND SHUDDERS. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE HAS MANUAL TRANSMISSION DISGUISED AS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPROGRAMMED AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE WORSENED. THE MAUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 25 TO 65 MPH, THE "TRANSMISSION OVERHEATED" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V523000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROSSROADS FORD OF KERNERSVILLE, INC (1330 NC ' 66, KERNERSVILLE, NC 27284, 877-331-8058) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MODULES AND TRANSMISSION CLUTCHES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FOX FORD LINCOLN (2501 N ELSTON AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60647, (773) 687-7800) WHERE THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH WAS REPLACED THREE TIMES AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS REPAIRED ONCE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CLUTCH REPAIRED A FOURTH TIME. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,286.
THE WIPER FLUID SPRAYER STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY. THEN EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IT STUTTERS EVERYTIME I HIT THE GAS PEDAL. SO EACH TIME WHEN TAKING HAVE IT HAS A SHAKING SENSATION. EACH TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER THEY SAY THE SAME THING THAT THE CAR WAS MADE TO DO THAT BECAUSE ITS AN AUTOMATIC DUAL TRANSMISSION. *TR
AUGUST 28, 2015. WHILE HEADING WESTBOUND ON A TRAVELED HIGHWAY; A VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THE WESTBOUND CAR AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WHEREIN, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY OR THE SEATBELTS DID NOT LOCK. VEHICLE WAS DOING ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN ACCIDENT OCCURRED.
PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS IN AUGUST 2015, FOR OUR DAUGHTER WHO IS CURRENTLY AWAY TO COLLEGE. SHE STATES THAT THE CAR "SHUDDERS" ALL THE TIME WHEN BEING DRIVEN. AS A PARENT THIS IS A HUGE CONCERN, I INVESTIGATED THE FORD FOCUS AND IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG AT ALL TO DETERMINE THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL THOUSAND OTHERS IN THE SAME CONDITION, AS STATED EARLIER OUR DAUGHTER IS AWAY AT COLLEGE SO IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR US TO TAKE CARE OF THIS SITUATION NOW . THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REPORTS STATE THE CAR LOSES EXCELLERATION AND WILL STALL WHEN BEING DRIVEN. PLEASE PLEASE HELP BEFORE SOMETHING REALLY BAD HAPPENS !!!!!!!!! FROM WHAT I'M READING FORD IS REFUSING TO TAKE ACTION, ALSO REPORTED THIS TO SIMMONS/ROCWELL WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND THEY STATED THAT OTHER FORD FOCUS CARS THAT WERE PURCHASED HAD TESTS RAN AND "NO ISSUES" WE'RE DETERMINED YET THEY ALL REPORTED TO HAVE THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINTS!!!! I NEED HELP AS TO WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE !!
MY CAR IS HAVING A CLUTCH ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM, REPORTS I AM ON A LIST FOR A FIX, BUT THE PARTS ARE ON BACK ORDER. THEY HAVE STATED THAT CURRENTLY, THEY ARE FIXING (THOUGH NOT ALWAYS SUCCESSFULLY) ISSUES DIAGNOSED IN MAY. DEALER REPORTS THEY CANNOT STATE THE CURRENT PROBLEM (THAT I CANNOT GET FIXED TIMELY) WILL NOT IMPACT THE CAR/CAR'S PERFORMANCE LONG TERM. THE CAR JERKS AND LURCHES WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. I WOULD COMPARE IT TO A PERSON TRYING TO DRIVE STICK SHIFT FOR THE FIRST TIME OR LEARNING BUT IT IS AN AUTOMATIC CAR. IT HAPPENS A LOT, WHEN IN MOTION. I HAVE GOTTEN STUCK IN REVERSE AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MOVE WHEN IN REVERSE. THE JERKING ISSUES FEEL LIKE I AM GETTING WHIPLASH.
I FILED A COMPLAINT UNDER THE MN LEMON LAW DUE TO REPEATED TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON MY CAR. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT IS QUITE NOTICEABLE THAT THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY BECAUSE IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER WHEN SHIFTING. THE VEHICLE IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, BUT AT TIMES IT FEELS LIKE I'M DRIVING A VERY SENSITIVE MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WILL CAUSE A SHUDDER FEELING AT SHIFT. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE IN TO NORTH COUNTRY FORD IN COON RAPIDS, MN ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE DATES WERE 8/27/15, 10/16/2015, 2/18/16 AND 8/21/16. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE ISSUE AND MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS HAS BEEN A REPEATED PROBLEM WITH MY CAR AND THAT IT COULD BE COSTLY TO ME IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *TR
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 250 MILES THAT DAY, WE PULLED INTO A GAS STATION FOR GAS. ONCE FUELED AND LEAVING THE CAR STARTED TO BOG DOWN AT ABOUT 5 MPH. THE GAS STATION EXIT RAMP WAS INCLINED, WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK THE CAR ROLLED BACKWARDS APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET. THE CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK. GETTING HOME THE PROBLEM GREW WORSE. CROSSING THE OHIO RIVER INTO KENTUCKY, ON I-75 SOUTH, THERE IS A MAJOR HILL CLIMB. THE CAR BARELY MADE IT UP THE HILL, THE TACHOMETER NEEDLE JUMPED ALL AROUND. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY NEW ALL ABOUT THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE TWO MONTHS BEFORE I COULD BRING IT IN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ANTI-BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ANTI-BRAKE SYSTEM WIRING HARNESS TO THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL WAS DAMAGED BY RODENTS AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,130.
BOUGHT CAR BRAND NEW IN SEPT 2014 IN AUGUST TOOK IT TO DEALER FOR SHUTTERING PROBLEMS WHICH HAPPENED STOPPED AND TAKING OFF FROM STOP SIGN OR JUST DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. IN NOVEMBER 2015 MY TACH WOULD GO WAY UP! IN 4-8-16 THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUTTER AGAIN AT TAKE OFF THE TESTED IT SAID IT WAS OK ON 9-27-16 THEY PERFORMED WORK ON CLUTCH AGAIN ON 11-25-16 TOOK THE CAR BACK IN AND THEY PUT A ENGINE CONTROL MODULE IN. AND ON 2-22-17 THEY REPLACED SEAL ASY AND GASKET AND ON 2-28-17 VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT IDLE CLEARED CODES REMOVED MASS AIR FLOW SENSIR FOUND BUG INSIDE?! ON 6-15-17 TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS AND THEY REPLACED AGAIN ON 12-28-17 REPLACED CLUTCH AGAIN AND ON 11-15-18 VEHICLE IS SHUTTERING AGAIN AND REPLACED CLUTCH AGAIN! SHUTTERING SOMEWHAT AGAIN AND ALMOST LIKE IT IS GOING TO STAHL HAVE TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN SOON!
NOISE COMING FROM STEERING WHEEL WHEN TURNING; SHUTTERING; STRUGGLING TO ACCELERATE; TRANSMISSION STALLED OUT ON A HILL; REMOTE LOCK BUTTON FOUND NON FUNCTIONAL AT TIMES; BLUETOOTH NON FUNCTIONAL.
WHILE AT A FULL STOP ON AN INCLINE, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT BACK TO A NEUTRAL POSITION WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF, BUT THE CAR STAYED FULLY STOPPED. ALSO, WHEN I GO TO PRESS THE PEDAL AGAIN, IT IS LOCKED UP. IT IS NOT LOCKED IN ANY KIDS OF PRESSED POSITION OR FALLING TO THE FLOOR, BUT IN A FULLY UNBRAKED, NEUTRAL POSITION. THIS STAYED LOCKED FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS BEFORE I CAN FINALLY PRESS IT AGAIN AND RESUME NORMAL DRIVING. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS VERY SAME INCIDENT.
SHIFTING ISSUES WITH THE 6SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. CAR SHIFTING IS ERRATIC WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP, OR TRAVELING IN A HIGHWAY CONDITION. CAR REVS, SHUTTERS AND STUTTERS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE. I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY KNOW ABOUT IT, BUT I CANNOT GET MY CAR SERVICED UNTIL 6 MONTHS FROM NOW. IT SEEMS THAT THIS ISSUE IS GETTING WORSE, AND WHILE I WAIT TO ADDRESS ISSUE, I FEAR THAT MORE DAMAGE IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE. I MAY IMPACT MORE PARTS ON MY NEW CAR THAT WILL COST ME MONEY, OR WORSE IT WILL RESULT IN A TRANSMISSION FAILURE WHICH WILL LEAVE ME STRANDED WHERE I AM CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY, OR THE SAFETY OF A FAMILY MEMBER. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND INCREASING SINCE AUGUST 2015
I DROVE 200 MILES, STOPPED FOR GAS, AND UPON STARTING THE ENGINE THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT AND A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I DROVE TO A HOTEL, UNLOADED OUR LUGGAGE, AND RETURNED TO THE CAR AFTER 10 MINUTES. UPON STARTING THE ENGINE, I FOUND THAT THE WARNING LIGHT WAS OUT AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NORMAL. TEN DAYS LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED; THAT IS, I DROVE 200 MILES, STOPPED FOR GAS, LOST THE POWER STEERING, WENT TO A HOTEL, AND UPON STARTING THE ENGINE THE POWER STEERING HAD RETURNED. WITHOUT POWER STEERING, THE CAR WAS CONTROLLABLE BUT IT WAS NOT EASY AND A FRAIL PERSON WOULD HAVE DIFFICULTY.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, ROUGH START, GRINDING NOISE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED NUMEROUS TIME. PASSENGER SIDE FRONT HUB AND LOWER ARM REPLACED DUE TO FAILURE OF A BEARING. VEHICLE TAKEN IN FOR THE SLIPPING/ ROUGH START, THE CLUTCH IS ON BACK ORDER. WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE ADVISER THAT APPROXIMATELY 38,000 CONSUMERS NATIONWIDE ARE WAITING FOR THE SAME PART FOR THE SAME ISSUE. HE ALSO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WILL ALWAYS HAVE THIS ISSUE FROM HAVING A DUEL CLUTCH SYSTEM, AND THAT FORD WILL NOT COVER ANY COSTS PAST THE WARRANTY 36K/50K
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED TO ACCELERATE AND ALSO MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE. WHEN THE CONTACT APPLIED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE ABNORMAL NOISE GREW LOUDER AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND SHUTTERD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TWICE, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DIAGNOSIS TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
THE TRANSMISSION JERKS WHEN STARTING OFF AND SHIFTING GEARS. I'VE HAD IT IN 3 TIMES FOR "SOFTWARE UPDATES" AND EACH TIME THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT ALL FORD FOCUS EXPERIENCE THE SAME THING AND THAT IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY.
AFTER COMPLETING A STOP, WHEN PRESSING GAS PEDAL, CAR/TRANSMISSION STUTTERS THEN JERKS FORWARD. I'VE TRIED ACCELERATING MORE SLOWLY AND THEN TRIED IT FASTER WITH MORE GAS, BUT IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. THE CAR WON'T ACCELERATE FAST ENOUGH TO SAFELY MAKE TURNS BEFORE ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I'VE HAD THIS NEW CAR 11 MONTHS.
TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE IS DEFECTIVE. MY CAR JUDDERS SEVERELY. FAILED TO GET UP TO SPEED CORRECT. RPM IS 4,500. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD CORPORATE, THEY HAVE FAILED TO EXECUTE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PART BUT THERE IS 6-8 WEEK BACK ORDER. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY VEHICLE
CLUTCH REPLACED AT 18K MILES DUE TO SHUDDERING, HESITATION AND ROLLING BACKWARDS ON HILL IN DRIVE. AT 38K ISSUES ARE STARTING AGAIN. SEVERAL ALMOST ACCIDENTS WHEN ON HILL AND TURNING IN TRAFFIC. PURCHASED A YEAR AGO AND DEVALUED $10K SINCE.
AT AROUND 20K THE CAR STARTED JUMPING AND SHUDDERING FROM A STOP AND WOULD ALSO ACCELERATE AND THE RPM'S WOULD INCREASE ON ITS OWN WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY, VERY SCARY. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER.I TOOK IT BACK AT AROUND 40K AND THEY INSTALLED THE NEW TRANSMISSION, SO THEY SAY. I TOOK IT BACK AT JUST OVER 60K (AROUND 60,500) AND THEY SAID IT WAS A BAD TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD COST AROUND $1,600 TO $1,800. THEY GAVE ME THE RUNAROUND AND I LEFT NEVER WANTING TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. THE PROBLEM HAS INCREASED IN FREQUENCY TO THE POINT OF INSECURITY. MY ODOMETER IS AT ABOUT 118000. I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT THEN AND I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT NOW. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? I'M AT WITS END.

IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS JERKING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,908.
I BEGAN NOTICING ISSUES AROUND 8,500 MILES. MY CAR WOULD HESITATE WHEN I WOULD GO FROM AN IDLE INTO GEAR, SURGE FORWARD, STUTTER AS I WAS BRAKING OR GOING INTO SPEED, AND LASTLY REFUSE TO CHANGE GEARS AS I SPED UP MAKING ME THINK I WAS IN LOW GEAR. I NOW HAVE TO MAKE SURE ALL CARS ARE CLEAR BEFORE I MAKE TURNS BECAUSE MY CAR WILL LOSE POWER AS I MAKE TURNS, WHICH MAKES ME FEEL EXTREMELY UNSAFE. I DRIVE MY CAR BETWEEN ROCHESTER, NY AND BUFFALO, NY OFTEN AND THIS IS QUITE CONCERNING TO ME. I TOOK IT INTO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT SINCE I AM UNDER WARRANTY AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY PART THAT IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER, BUT SHOULD BE IN A COUPLE DAYS AND I SHOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE MY CAR AS IT IS NOW. WELL I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE AND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT BECAUSE OF THIS TRANSMISSION DEFECT. WITH NO WARNING THE LEFT REAR CONTINENTAL TIRE BLEW OUT THE SIDEWALL WITH 2700 MILES IN IT. HE DID NOT HIT ANY OOTHOLE OR ANYTHING ELSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A REPUTABLE DEALERSHIP IN TOWN AS A USED VEHICLE BUT WITH ONLY 20K MILES ON IT. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO LET ME TEST DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY CITING DEALERSHIP RULES. EVERYTHING SEEMED TO WORK FINE. ONE WEEK AFTER GETTING CAR HOME IT BEGAN SHUDDERING AND FAILING TO ACCELERATE ONLY TO RAPIDLY SHIFT GEARS ONCE IT FIGURED OUT WHAT IT WANTED TO DO. WHEN TRYING TO ENTER HIGHWAY THE CAR WOULD RUN THROUGH 4 GEARS BEFORE HITTING MPH CAUSING HORRIBLE AND SLUGGISH PERFORMANCE. WHEN FINALLY GET UP TO 55 MPH OR MORE, THE CAR SHUTTERS SO BAD IT IS MAKING OTHER PARTS FALL APART AND COME LOOSE...LIKE THE STEERING AND A/C NOT WORKING PROPERLY...I HAVE TO GO 80 JUST TO GET IT TO REDUCE SLIGHTLY. I CALLED UP DEALER AND DEMANDED THEY REPAIR. DEALER RESET TRANSMISSION TO FACTORY DEFAULTS WHICH FIXED NOTHING. TOOK CAR IN 3 MORE TIMES WHEN FINALLY THEY ADMITTED IT WAS A CLUTCH ISSUE AND PUT ME ON A BACK ORDER LIST. I WAITING 3 MONTHS WHILE HAVING TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BUT IT FINALLY WAS REPLACED. TO NO ONES SURPRISE THE CAR PERFORMS WORSE NOW THEN IT DID. TOOK BACK TO DEALER 2 MORE TIMES, TO WHICH I WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH HAS A 1000 MILE BREAK IN PERIOD. I ASKED THEN WHY DIDN'T ANYONE SAY THAT WHEN I PICKED IT UP. SPOKE WITH SERVICE MANAGER WHO KEEPS TRYING TO TELL ME THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM...I ASKED WHY IS IT I HAVE THE PROBLEM 100% OF THE TIME I DRIVE IT BUT IT NEVER SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU HAVE IT.... I EVEN TRIED DEMONSTRATING BUT THEY LITERALLY JUST IGNORED ME AND SAID THEY DIDN'T HEAR ANYTHING OR FEEL ANYTHING...I HAVE REACHED OUT TO CLASS ACTION LAWYERS FOR DETAILS ON HOW TO SUE AND GET CAR PAID FOR TAKEN BACK SO I CAN GET A SAFE CAR....OTHERWISE I HAVE TO DRIVE A KNOWN SAFETY HAZARD.

WITH THE ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF THESE SAME ISSUES I HAVE BEEN WAITING 7 WEEKS FOR A CLUTCH TO COME IN AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR THAT IT WILL BE ARRIVING ANYTIME SOON. BEING A POLICE OFFICER FOR OVER 23 YEARS I CAN RECOGNIZE THIS ISSUE AS CAUSING FATALITIES, IF IT HAS NOT HAPPENED ALREADY. FOR TWO MONTHS I'VE BEEN HEARING A SCRAPING/GRINDING NOISE BELOW MY CAR FROM TIME TO TIME. BEFORE I HEARD THE NOISE ALTHOUGH, WHENEVER I DROVE MY CAR I WOULD FEEL THIS HESITATION IN THE CAR WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE. TODAY I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC FROM THE DEALER BECAUSE I COULDN'T TAKE THE GRINDING NOISE ANY MORE AND THOUGHT THAT MAYBE SOMETHING BELOW MY CAR FELL OFF OR SOMETHING. THEY THEN TELL ME THAT IT IS MY TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE HESITATION FROM THE CAR IS ALSO BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION. I WAS IN SHOCK! I ONLY HAVE 18 MONTHS WITH THIS CAR IT'S BRAND NEW AND I'M ALREADY HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS?! THIS IS RIDICULOUS. PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER TRANSMISSION HAS REACHED FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE (APPROXIMATELY 30 MIN OF DRIVE TIME). VEHICLE CONTAINS 6 SPEED POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION (ELECTRONICALLY SHIFTED MANUAL TRANSMISSION). INITIAL ISSUE WAS SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. TRANSMISSION CAUSES VEHICLE TO SHUDDER SEVERELY CAUSING PARTIAL LOSS OF ACCELERATION AS TRANSMISSION ATTEMPTS TO COMPLETE SHIFT. SAME PROBLEM THEN BEGAN OCCURRING IN THE SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEARS. SHIFTS FROM 3RD TO 4TH AND ABOVE ARE NOT AFFECTED (AT THIS TIME). 1ST TO 2ND SHIFT HAS BECOME WORSE NOW RESULTING IN INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS (COMPLETE LACK OF ACCELERATION). THIS IS A PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC AS THE TRANSMISSION CAN TAKE UP TO 3 SECONDS BEFORE ENGAGING 2ND GEAR. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALERSHIP. TECH RODE ALONG IN THE CAR FOR TEST DRIVE. BECAUSE ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND VARIES AND ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS AT FULL OPERATING TEMP, AT THE TIME OF THE TEST DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WAS MALFUNCTIONING (MINOR SHUDDER FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR) BUT THE TECH STATED IT WAS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH THAT HE WOULD BE ABLE TO ATTACH A DIAGNOSTIC RECORDER TO VEHICLE AND SEND THE REPORT ONTO FORD FOR AUTHORIZATION TO IMPLEMENT A FIX. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE IN THESE VEHICLES FROM THE 2012 TO 2014 MODEL YEARS (ACCORDING TO THE TECH AND A SEARCH OF VARIOUS ONLINE CONSUMER COMPLAINT WEBSITES). FORD HAS A PRESCRIBED FIX THAT INCLUDES REPLACING CLUTCHES IN THE TRANSMISSION AND REPROGRAMMING AND RESYNCING OF THE POWERTRAIN COMPUTERS. WHILE THIS DEFECT HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT FOR MYSELF, I FEAR IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT DOES, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO INCREASE IN SEVERITY. THE POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION JERKS AND JOLTS, ESPECIALLY AT TAKE OFF. I DRIVE LOCALLY 95% OF THE TIME AND THIS IS EXACERBATING MY CURRENT MEDICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY NECK, HEAD, BACK AND HIP. I SEE NOW THAT FORD WITHHELD THIS INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT THEY CALLED THEIR NEW AND BETTER TRANSMISSION. HAD THEY TOLD US IT DOES THIS, WE WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT. I KNEW THE DAY AFTER WE GOT IT AND I WAS HURTING BAD, AND THE DEALER WOULD NOT TAKE IT BACK, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNEW THIS CAR WAS HURTING ME. I TOOK IT TO THEM IN AUGUST AND THEY ACTED LIKE THEY KNEW NOTHING. WHEN I PICKED IT UP TWO DAYS LATER, THEY SAID THEY MADE A SOFTWARE ADJUSTMENT TO MAKE IT MORE COMFORTABLE FOR ME. THAT LASTED FOR A DAY AND A HALF AND DROPPED THE GAS MILEAGE TO 17MPG IN TOWN WHEN IT HAD BEEN GETTING 25.6MPG. AFTER THE DAY AND A HALF, THE AGGRESSIVE JERKING RETURNED AND GAS MILEAGE WENT BACK UP. ALSO, WHEN I PICKED IT UP, THEY THEN ACTED LIKE THEY KNEW ABOUT IT AND PROVIDED ME WITH A TWO PAGE PRINT OUT OF THAT TRANSMISSION AND HOW IT WORKS, AND THEY CLAIM THIS IS NORMAL. THEY ALSO SAID THE SALESPEOPLE ARE SUPPOSED TO TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION, YET WE WERE TOLD NOTHING AND IT DIDN'T DO IT ON THE TEST DRIVE. IF THE CAR SITS, IT WON'T DO IT AT TAKE OFF, BUT THE MORE YOU DRIVE IT, THE MORE IT DOES IT AND IT IS NOT OCCASIONAL OR SLIGHT. IT ACTS LIKE IT WON'T EVEN GO SOMETIMES AT A GREEN LIGHT OR LOSES POWER SIGNIFICANTLY. THAT'S HOW IT FEELS TO ME BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT REALLY IS. ON GOING ISSUE, WHICH I WILL TELL THEM NEEDS RESOLUTION. DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE.

I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP ON 7/6/15 ABOUT THE ISSUE AND A RECALL I RECEIVED ON THE FUEL PUMP AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD CONTACT ME WHEN THE FUEL PUMP CAME IN AND TO MONITOR THE TRANSMISSION UNTIL THEN. RETURNING HOME FROM A TRIP THE WEEK OF 7/28-8/2/15 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO VIOLENTLY SHUDDER WHEN LEAVING FROM TRAFFIC LIGHTS TO THE POINT THERE WAS CONCERN IF WE WOULD GET THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT GETTING HIT OR STRUCK FROM BEHIND. WE CONTACTED THE SERVICE DEPT ON 8/3/15 AND AN APPOINTMENT WASN'T AVAILABLE UNTIL THE MORNING OF 8/6/15. WE DID NOT DRIVE IT UNTIL WE TOOK IT TO THE APPOINTMENT DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS AND IT IS NOW 8/10/15 AND WE ARE STILL WITHOUT A VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS HAVING PROBLEMS BUT FORD WOULDN'T FIX IT UNTIL IT FELL INTO A CERTAIN RPM CATEGORY OR TOTALLY FAILED . THEY SAID THEY WOULD RESET IT AND IF WE HAVE FURTHER ISSUES LET THEM KNOW. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD US THE TRANSMISSIONS IN THE FOCUS HAVE HAD ISSUES DUE TO USING A CONVERTED MANUAL TO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE SYSTEM GETS "CONFUSED" WHEN TO SHIFT. WE ARE ALSO TOLD, THE SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION LEARNS THE OPERATOR AND IF SOMEONE ELSE DRIVES IT, IT GETS CONFUSED WHEN TO SHIFT OR WHAT TO DO AND CREATES FAILURE OF THE CLUTCH. THE ISSUES NOTED CREATE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD LEAD TO COLLISIONS AT INTERSECTION OR IF PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC.
