TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED VIOLENTLY WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE DIAGNOSTIC RESULTS WERE NOT DISCLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200.
SEVERE TRANSMISSION SHUDDER WHEN APPLYING GAS AFTER STOPPING. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDS A NEW CLUTCH.I AM FIRST OWNER OF CAR AND THIS CLUTCH HAS BEEN REPLACED BEFORE. THIS IS A BAD PURCHASE THAT FORD SHOULD EITHER EXCHANGE OR REFUND FOR.
LOSES POWER DURING ACCELERATION FROM DEAD STOP OR ONTO FREEWAY, TRANSMISSION BUCKS AND DOES NOT ENGAGE FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR IN ALLEGED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT FORD IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NO PLANS FOR A LONG TERM FIX.
AT AROUND 24,000 MILES OUR 2014 FOCUS TRANSMISSION STARTING SHUTTERING DURING TAKE-OFF, MOST NOTABLY BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND SOMETIMES DANGEROUSLY HESITANT TO GET GOING. YOU HAD BETTER HOPE THE DAY YOU REALLY NEED THE CAR TO MOVE IT DOES; BUT NOT SURGE UNEXPECTEDLY. THE MOST FRUSTRATING POINT IS FORD SAYS IT'S NORMAL. NORMAL! I HAVE DRIVEN CARS WITH AUTOMATIC AND MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS FOR OVER 35 YEARS NEVER, HAS THIS BEEN NORMAL!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND DOWN SHIFTED SUDDENLY TO APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. IN ADDITION, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP SIGN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE SERVICED AND THE CLUTCH REPLACED. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SERVICED AND THE CLUTCH WAS REPLACED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES WITHIN A YEAR AND HALF TIME FRAME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
I PURCHASED A 2014 FORD FOCUS BACK ON APRIL 24, 2014. I TOOK MY CAR TO CROWN FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR THE SECOND TIME ON 9/02/14 TO BE SERVICE FOR SHUDDERING, LOSS OF POWER, PASSENGER WINDOW WOULDN'T LET DOWN, IT ROLLS BACKWARDS ON INCLINE WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, AND HAS THIS GRINDING NOISE. FORD WAS SAYING THIS IS NORMAL, IF THIS IS THE NEW NORMAL, THEN I PASS ON PURCHASING A FORD. I FEEL THIS CAR IS NEEDING TO BE RECALL BEFORE THERE ARE MORE SERIOUS INJURIES. I AM 21 YEARS OLD AND I FEEL THIS CAR IS AN INCREASE RISK FOR A ACCIDENT. *TR

THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE AND SHUDDERING ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CAR HAS VERY POOR ACCELERATION AT TIMES AS THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO SLIP. NOW AT 10,000 FORD IS GOING TO REPLACE THE CLUTCHES. HOWEVER, I AM STILL DRIVING THE CAR AS THE PARTS ARE BACK ORDERED SO I ASSUME THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. *TR
THIS CAR IS JUST OVER A YEAR OLD. WE HAVE BEEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOUR TIMES TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE VEHICLE BUCKS, SHUTTERS AND LOOSES POWER WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHILE ON THE MASS PIKE, THIS OCCURRED WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. (STOP AND GO). THE VEHICLE WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND THE VEHICLE ALMOST STRUCK THE CAR IN FRONT ON MANY OCCASIONS. THE HESITATION, THEN SUDDEN ACCELERATION IS NOT SAFE.
MY 2014 FORD FOCUS BEGAN SHUDDERING ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER I BOUGHT IT, WHICH WAS MAY 2014. I TOOK IT TO MY FORD DEALER TO EXPLAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WASN'T A PROBLEM AND I SHOULD CONTINUE DRIVING IT. THE SHUDDERING CONTINUED. IT NORMALLY HAPPENS WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOPPED OR NEAR STOPPED POSITION, ON FLAT AND INCLINED SURFACES. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER ONCE AGAIN. THEY SAID THEY ADJUSTED A FEW THINGS AND I WOULD BE FINE. TOOK IT BACK A 3RD TIME AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO ORDER A NEW CLUTCH. SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THAT DONE. IT WORKED FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT I WAS BACK AT THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SHUDDERING AND TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH ISSUE. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN MY 2014 FORD FOCUS. I WENT BACK AGAIN TO COMPLAIN OF SAME ISSUE, I WAS TOLD MY WARRANTY RAN OUT AND THEY COULD ONLY REPLACE CLUTCH IF I PAID FOR IT!!! I STILL DRIVE IT DAILY, WITH THE SHUDDERING. WORRIED AT EVERY STOP, I HOPE THE CAR DOESN'T STALL, SPEED UP OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT!!! IT OCCURS ON CITY STREETS, RAMPS ONTO HIGHWAYS, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, STOP SIGNS AND YIELDS. IN JULY I PURCHASED A NEW 2014 FORD FOCUS FOR MY SON. IMMEDIATELY HE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT BEING SLUGGISH AND IT SHIFTED WHEN IT SHOULDN'T AND DIDN'T SHIFT WHEN IT SHOULD. IN AUGUST HE WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHEN HE BACKED INTO A PARKED CAR. THE EVENT COST ME $525. HE SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR BUT HIS CAR KEPT ROLLING BACK UNTIL IT STRUCK A CAR. LAST WEEK WAS THE FIRST TIME MY WIFE OR I DROVE HIS CAR. WHEN SHE RETURNED SHE SAID THAT SHE WOULD NEVER DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN. SHE REPORTED THE SAME TRANSMISSION AND SHIFTING PROBLEMS MY SON HAD MENTIONED. WHEN I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE AND BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER I WAS IN THE STREET AND TOTALLY STOPPED I PUT THE CAR IN FORWARD AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. NOTHING HAPPENED. I CHECKED THE GEAR INDICATOR AND PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AGAIN. NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER SITTING IIN THE THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET FOR SEVERAL SECONDS THE CAR FINALLY MOVED. IT WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND WITHIN THE FIRST 100FT. IT SHIFTED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. PERFORMANCE LIKE THIS CONTINUED EVERY TIME I STARTED FROM A DEAD STOP. I SPOKE WITH THE SERVICE REP ABOUT WHAT I HAD JUST EXPERIENCED. HE SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DOING EXACTLY WHAT FORD SAYS IT WAS DESIGNED IT TO DO. HE SAID HE HAD PERSONALLY SCHEDULED OVER 20 2014 FOCUS CARS INTO THE SHOP TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. HE SAID FORD HAS A SET OF TESTS AND IF THE CAR PASSED THOSE TESTS THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. HE SAID EVERY 2014 FOCUS HE AND THE OTHER 7-8 REPS HAD SCHEDULED FOR THE TESTS HAD, BY FORD'S INSTRUCTIONS, PASSED THE TESTS. I SINCERELY REQUEST THAT YOU FORCE FORD TO DO A RECALL ON THESE CARS. NOTING THE LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THE CARS OBVIOUSLY HAVE VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES, ESPECIALLY THEIR FAILURE TO SHIFT WHEN THE DRIVER TAKES THE ACTION TO MAKE THEM SHIFT. *TR
WHEN IDLING OR BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR JUMPS. I DON'T KNOW IF IT IS A CLUTCH OR TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. THIS BEGAN THE FIRST WEEKEND I OWNED THE CAR, AUGUST 28, 2014. I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TIME TO "GET USED" TO ME AS A DRIVER, AND THAT THIS IS A DOUBLE CLUTCH SYSTEM, BY THE FORD DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM. HE SAID IF IT CONTINUED, THEN BY ALL MEANS, SCHEDULE IT FOR REPAIR. IT CONTINUED TO HAPPEN, JUMP/JERK AT SLOW ACCELERATION. I BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON 12/12/14. I AM SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT ON 1/27/2015, THAT IS THE EARLIEST DATE THEY WOULD GIVE ME AFTER THE FORD DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A SPECIAL REPAIR AND THEY ONLY TAKE IN SO MANY FORD FOCUS CARS AT A TIME. THEY ALMOST TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF SCHEDULING THE APPOINTMENT, THE CLERK SAID THERE WERE NO AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS AND THEY WOULDN'T BE SCHEDULING ANY MORE FOR AT LEAST IN TO FEBRUARY. I WAS PERSISTENT. *TR

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE JERKED, STALLED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER CHANGING GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MONACO FORD, 767 NEW LONDON TURNPIKE, GLASTONBURY, CT, 06033,) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE E-VAP CHAMBER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPROGRAMMED A MONTH AGO FOR SERIOUS SHUDDERING AND STALLING. WITHIN A WEEK THE ENGINE WOULD RACE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. THE ENGINE WOULD ALSO STALL. IN INTERSTATE TRAFFIC THIS IS A SCARY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NOW THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CLUTCH IS OUT. I FILED A CASE WITH FORD AND A CUSTOMER SERVICE REGIONAL MANAGER WAS TO CALL ME BY THURSDAY..NO CALL...FRIDAY A CALL WAS PROMISED..NO CALL. MONDAY A PROMISE..NO CALL. TUESDAY A PROMISE OF A CALL..NO CALL. WEDNESDAY NO CALL..GET THE PICTURE. *TR
PURCHASED CAR 8/27/14. NOTICED IMMEDIATE STUTTERING, AND SHIFTING WHENEVER IT WANTS TOO. WILL NOT DOWN SHIFT AND FAILS TO ACCELERATE FROM A FULL STOP. TOOK TO REPAIR SHOP FOR DX TEST AND WAS TOLD COMPUTER WAS UPDATED. CAR DOWNSHIFTS NOW BUT STILL SHIFTS ERRATICALLY AND STILL WILL NOT ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE SHUTTERING IS WORSE. *TR
ON AUGUST 27, 2014 I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A RIGHT TURN FROM WEST BOUND ADAMS STREET TO NORTH BOUND 19TH AVENUE IN PHOENIX ARIZONA WHEN THE CAR STOPPED MOVING FORWARD. THE CAR ACTED AS IF IT WENT OUT OF GEAR; ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT CAR WAS NOT MOVING FORWARD. THEN SUDDENLY THE CAR JERKED GOING FORWARD AT AN UNCONTROLLABLE SPEED. I WAS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR AS IT DROVE INTO THE WRONG LANE OF TRAFFIC. I WAS FORTUNATE THERE WAS NOT ANOTHER CAR IN THAT OTHER LANE AT THAT TIME. I FILED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS CAR PREVIOUSLY, PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT OCCURRING. I HAD READ THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE FORD FOCUS AND THERE IS A CURRENT CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. FORD IS ATTEMPTING TO HIDE THEIR DEFECTIVE BY ATTEMPTING TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER AND DENYING ANY DEFECT. THE CAR HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS THAT IS PLACING THE PUBLIC IN DANGER OF LIFE THREATENING AND OR PHYSICAL INJURY. *TR UPDATED 12/29/2015*JS
CAR JERKS AND SHAKES. ESPECIALLY WHEN TAKING OFF OR ON TURNING VEHICLE JERKS BADLY. I UNDERSTAND THAT IS WHEN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION IS TRYING TO SHIFT GEARS. I HAVE HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. THIS CAUSES A HUGE DANGER TO ME BECAUSE IF I WOULD LIKE TO TRY TO MAKE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF TRAFFIC I NEVER KNOW IF MY CAR WILL GO OR RESIST. SONS DAYS ARE SO BAD THAT I JUST GIVE UP DRIVING BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF MY CAR WILL STALL. THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU EXPECT A CAR THAT YOU'VE BOUGHT NEW AND PAID THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON TO RUN LIKE DAILY. CAR IS JERKY WHEN ACCELERATING. FEELS AS IF I HAVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION WITH A CLUTCH PROBLEM. CAR SHUDDERS AT LOW SPEED AND ALSO OCCASIONALLY HESITATED WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY. THIS PUT ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS NUMEROUS TIMES. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY FOCUS IN TO BE REPAIRED FOUR TIMES FOR THE CLUTCH PLATE ASSEMBLY SHUDDERING/JUMPING/HESITATING UPON STARTING UP FROM A STOPPED POSITION.THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN WAS MARCH OF 2016, AND IS NOW DOING THE SAME THING IN JUNE 2016. THIS WAS FIRST NOTICED AT 12000 MILES, BUT NOT ADDRESSED UNTIL THE MILAGE WAS 15500. THIS DISQUALIFIED IT FOR THE BUY BACK WITH FORD THROUGH THE BBB AUTOLINE. THE CLUTCH PLATE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND ADJUSTED THE SENSOR TWO OTHER TIMES. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN IN THE EVENT OF PULLING ONTO THE INTERSTATE OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND DOES NOT GIVE THE ACCELERATION NEEDED. I HAVE ASKED A COUPLE OF TIMES FOR A BUY BACK, BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD NO. PLEASE HELP ME AND OTHER CONSUMERS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED AND FIXED.
WITH CAR IN CRUISE GOING DOWN GRADE TRANS WOULD DOWN SHIFT IN LOWER GEAR CAUSING CAR TO SLOW AND ENGINE TO OVER REV. HAD TO SLOW TO 45 FOR TRANS TO CORRECT IT`S SELF. WHEN I STOP AT A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT AND THEN TAKE OFF AGAIN MY CAR SHUDDERS AS I TRY TO START DRIVING. THEN, WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE IT LAGS, AND I HAVE TO PUT THE PEDDLE ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BEFORE IT WILL ACCELERATE EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT. THIS OCCURS EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE MY CAR. OFTEN WHEN I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE OFF AND I PUT MY FOOT DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS MIDWAY THROUGH AND AFTER THE INITIAL TAKE OFF THE CAR STALLS. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GET HIT MULTIPLE TIMES. THIS IS NOT SAFE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE IT IS A SERIOUS HAZARD. *TR
YOUNG LADY TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME AND I HAD NO TIME TO STOP-HEAD-ON COLLISION. STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. KNEE AIR BAG DID DEPLOY. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2014 FORD FOCUS SE ON FEBRUARY 14, 2014, AND SINCE THEN HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES (TODAY, BEING THE THIRD TIME) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION WORKED ON. THE FIRST TIME THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH; THE SECOND TIME, WHEN I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TIMING AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE RE-CALIBRATED; AND WHEN THE PROBLEM PERSISTED, I TOOK IT IN YESTERDAY AND WAS TOLD TODAY THAT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE REPORT READS, "ROAD TEST DIAGNOSE CUSTOMERS CONCERN. PERFORM TSB 150120 MEASURE SHUDDER AFTER RELEARN. TEST PASSED. A 143 OUT OF A MAX ALLOWABLE 250 WAS RECORDED & SENT TO FORD. THE TRANSMISSION IS WORKING WITHIN FORD'S DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS." WELL, FORD'S DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS ARE TERRIBLE. THE CAR JOLTS FORWARD FROM A STOP AND DRAMATICALLY SHUDDERS, NO MATTER HOW LIGHTLY OR HEAVILY I ACCELERATE, AND DURING HIGH SPEEDS IT HAS TROUBLE SHIFTING GEARS, OFTEN TIMES EMITTING A GRINDING NOISE. THIS NOISE IS MORE PRESENT AT LOWER SPEEDS, THOUGH. I DO A LOT OF FREEWAY DRIVING AND DEALING WITH TRAFFIC, WHICH MEANS A LOT OF STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC, SO THE DRIVE IS UNPLEASANT, AT ITS BEST, AND HAZARDOUS, AT ITS WORST. IT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BUT FORD SAYS THAT THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO; THAT THAT'S JUST THE DESIGN OF THE TRANSMISSION. I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY. PLEASE DO WHAT YOU CAN TO HAVE FORD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. I'M FED UP WITH THEIR CARELESSNESS. I DID NOT SIGN A CONTRACT FOR A BRONCIN' BUCK, BUT A SIMPLE CAR WITH GREAT GAS MILEAGE AND A SMOOTH RIDE. WHEN I TEST DROVE IT I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A SENSITIVE ACCELERATOR THAT I WOULD JUST NEED TO GET USED TO. I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH MY GUT AND BOUGHT THE KIA OPTIMA.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,300. *TT*JB

AFTER THIS TWO WEEK REPAIR I WAS PRESENTED WITH A DOCUMENT EXPLAINING THE OPERATION OF THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE FOCUS, NOT BEFORE. THE DOCUMENT DOES NOT MENTION THE BANGING INTO A LOWER GEAR WHILE PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP. IT DOES NOT MENTION THE CAR JUMPING IN REVERSE OR THE ENGINE BEING LOADED TO A RUMBLE BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION REFUSES TO DOWNSHIFT. THIS HAS CONTINUED TO WORSEN UNTIL NOW THE CAR EXHIBITS VIOLENT SHUDDERING COMING OUT OF FIRST AND SECOND AND HAS PROBLEMS ACCELERATING, TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAS NEARLY GOTTEN ME HIT GOING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AND CAUSED ISSUES MERGING ONTO HIGHWAYS.
