While driving on the highway my 2016 ford focus stalled without warning and would not start until after having it towed. The contact’s girlfriend’s daughter owns a 2016 Ford Focus. The contact stated while his girlfriend’s daughter was driving 65 MPH, she either drove over a pothole or a rock on the roadway and the vehicle started jerking. The driver veered to the side of the roadway to inspect the vehicle and noticed damage to the front driver’s side bumper that was detached from the subframe. The contact stated that the hood release hinges on the driver’s and passenger’s side of the vehicle fractured causing the hood to inadvertently, smashing into the windshield shattering the windshield. The driver called the contact to the scene for assistance. The contact was able to secure the hood with bungee cords for the driver to drive the vehicle to the residence. The following day the vehicle was towed to a body shop to be inspected. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
THE REAR QUARTER GLASS SEALS HAVE BOTH STARTED LEAKING WITHIN 2 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. WATER ENTERS THROUGH THE SEAL LEAK AND ENTERS THE HATCH AND UNDER REAR SEATS. I HAVE VERIFIED THIS IS THE LEAK BY SPRAYING A WATER HOSE ON THE OUTSIDE AND WATCHING IT LEAK PRETTY HEAVILY IN THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
THE PASSANGER REAR DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY HAS COME APART, THERE IS ONLY 12 THOUSAND MILES ON THIS VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, WENT TO OPEN REAR DOOR AND THE SMALL PIECE IN THE BACK CAME COMPLETELY OFF AND THEN REST OF THE HANDLE IS VERY LOOSE BUT STILL ATTACHED
THE TRUNK OPENS ON ITS OWN WELL DRIVING THE BACK UP CAMERA DOESN'T WORK AND THE CAR JERKSWELL SHIFTING WELL DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND STREET
BOTH HATCH STRUTS FAILED WITHIN 1 YEAR OF PURCHASING THE CAR NEW FROM DEALER. STRUTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING AND HATCH DROPPED ON HEAD. AFTER STRUT FAILURE, THE HATCH WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AS IT WOULD SLAM SHUT IN A WAY THAT WOULD EASILY TAKE OFF A FINGER OR A HAND.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD FOCUS HATCHBACK. AS I WAS TRAVELING 65 MPR ON THE INTERSTATE WITH NO TRAFFIC AROUND AT THAT TIME. ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEAR A LOUD POP. IT SOUNDED LIKE I HAD A BLOW OUT AND THEN I HEAR GLASS SO I PULLED OVER SAFELY ONLY TO GET OUT AND SEE THAT MY SUNROOF WAS BUSTED. NOT ONLY WAS IT BUSTED BUT THE GLASS CHIPPED MY PAINT. IT WAS A VERY SCARY MOMENT. IT SOUNDED LIKE PRESSURE WAS BUILT UP WHEN IT BUSTED. THE GLASS WAS POINTED UPWARDS LIKE IT BUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
