WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, 4 DAYS AFTER HAVING THE 2ND CLUTCH REPLACEMENT AT 30,000 MILES, IT WAS ON A STREET NOT HIGHWAY, THE CARS ELECTRONIC DASH DISPLAYED "TRANSMISSION FAULT FIX NOW". THE CAR THEN SLOWED DOWN A BIT LOSING POWER, THEN SEVERAL OTHER SIGNALS APPEARED ON SCREEN, BRAKES AND A FEW OTHERS, THEN THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND POWER WENT OUT. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER A FEW MINUTES, SO AAA CALLED TO TOW IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENED SUNDAY JULY 28, 2019. MONDAY AFTERNOON, AFTER THEY HAD TIME TO LOOK AT VEHICLE, I RECEIVED A CALL TELLING ME THAT THE "ALTERNATOR " WAS FAULTY AND THEY WOULD GET BACK TO ME WHEN THEY HAD THE REPLACEMENT WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE THE NEXT DAY. THE ISSUE WITH THIS IS MY WIFE HAD BEEN 110 MILES AWAY AND HAD DROVE HOME SATURDAY JULY 27. IF THAT HAD LET GO WHILE SHE WAS TRAVELING THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A FATAL ACCIDENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF FORD DEALERSHIP 5-6 TIMES FOR SAFETY RELATED ISSUES
WHILE ACCELERATING AT ANY PACE, THE VEHICLE WILL OFTEN SHUTTER, SHIFT VERY LATE, OR FAIL TO SHIFT AT ALL. WHEN SLOWING DOWN, DURING DOWN-SHIFT FROM THE AUTOMATIC DCT, IT MAKES SORT OF A CLANKING SOUND.
WITHIN MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE CAR (IN OCT 2017) I NOTICED IT HESITATES AND SHUTTERS AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN DRIVING THROUGH CITY LIMITS ACCOMPANIED WITH A GARGLING SOUNDS. IT JERKS HARD DURING ACCELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY ARE NOTICEABLE BECAUSE THERE IS PROMINENT HESITATION. I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CLUTCH AND FIXED THE ISSUE THIS WAS SEPT 2018. THE CAR DROVE WELL FOR A FEW MONTHS AND THEN IT BEGAN TO SHUTTER AGAIN. YET AGAIN, I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO FORD TO HAVE THIS REPLACE THE CLUTCH IN JULY 2019. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE FOR A CAR THAT WAS BRAND NEW. AT WHAT POINT DOES THIS BECOME AN ISSUE OF ACCOUNTABILITY... WHEN INJURY OCCURS.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM STARTING JAN 2019 WITH AROUND 10,000 MILES. THE CAR TAKES SPELLS THAT IN VIBRATES REALLY BAD PULLING OUT FROM STOP AND UPON ACCELERATION FROM LOW SPEEDS. I'M BEING TOLD AGAIN BY METTER FORD IN GEORGIA THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR TO JUST DRIVE IT UNTIL IT BREAKS AND THEY WILL COME GET IT. THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. ON 7/19/2017 I PULLED ONTO THE HWY AND THE CAR VIBRATED SO BADLY IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 20MPH. METTER FORD HAS THE CAR NOW AND JUST TOLD ME AGAIN ON 7/23/2019 THAT THEY CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEM. ALSO SAYING THEY DON'T KNOW OF ANY TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH THE 2017 FOCUS.
WHEN IN MOTION, TRAVELING FORWARD IN DRIVE. THE CAR WILL BEHAVE AS IF IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL -- NOT RESPONDING TO PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REVVING UP TO AS MANY AS 6000 RPM. THE CAR WILL BEHAVE THIS WAY EVEN IN CRUISE-CONTROL MODE. WHEN AT LAST THE CAR BEGINS RESPONDING TO ACCELERATOR PRESSURE, IT LURCHES ABRUPTLY. IN ADDITION, WHEN MAKING A TURN FROM A STOP (E.G., A LEFT-HAND TURN FROM A LIGHT THAT HAS JUST TURNED GREEN), THE CAR WILL NOT BEGIN MOVING WITH ANY CONSISTENCY ACCORDING TO ACCELERATION; OFTEN, IT REVS EITHER SHORTLY AFTER MOVING OR WITHOUT ANY MOVEMENT.
THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME TRANSMISSION SHUDDER ISSUE AS MANY OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR THERE SEEMS TO BE A LULL LIKE THE VEHICLE ISN'T SURE WHAT IT WANTS TO DO. I DIDN'T NOTICE IT HAPPENING IN THE WINTER TOO MUCH. HOWEVER, ONCE IT GOT WARMER, IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS NEARLY EVERY STOP LIGHT OR IN LOW SPEED ZONES WHERE IT'S SHIFTING BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND FREQUENTLY. I ALSO HEAR A METAL CLANGING SOUND ON SLOWDOWNS OFTEN ENOUGH TO SEEM LIKE IT'S AN ISSUE WORTH MENTIONING. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE AROUND 8K MILES AND I AM AT 45K ON THE VEHICLE. I WILL BE HAVING IT LOOKED AT NOW SINCE THE WARRANTY WILL BE COMING UP AND I DON'T WANT THIS ISSUE TO LINGER.
FUMES COMING IN THRU THE AC VENTS WHILE IN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ACCELERATING AND TURBO IS ENGAGE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE JLR DEALER FOR THIS ISSUE AND A DEALER PERSON WENT WITH ME FOR A RIDE AND AGREES THAT THE FUMES WERE INSIDE THE VEHICLE COMING THRU THE AC VENTS. THIS WAS REPORTED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR, IT WAS CHECKED AND ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. WHAT AN ANSWER. I'LL UPLOAD THE REPAIR RECEIPT. SHUTTER NOISE EVEN AFTER FORD HAS REPLACED TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH AND PROBLEM IS STILL THWRE
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Focus. The contact stated while driving at various speeds on several occasions, the vehicle started shuddering. The vehicle was taken to a dealer twice where it was diagnosed, and the dual clutch was replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred approximately two years later. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
MY CAR WAS AT A STANDSTILL AND MY CAR STUTTERED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO FALL OUT, I TALK WITH KEVIN AT LIBERTY FORD IN AURORA OHIO AND HE SAID DIDN'T THE SALESMAN TELL YOU ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND I SAID NO. MY RADIO HAS STOPPED WORKING TWICE, I DIDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM UNTIL LIBERTY FORD DID MY OIL CHANGE BACK IN MAY 2019, ALSO MY CAR IS MISSING WHILE DRIVING. NOT HAPPY WITH BEING SOLD A LEMON. *TR CONSUMER NO LONGER HAS THE VEHICLE.*JB
THE TRANSMISSION SKIPS, LUNGES, AND DOES NOT SHIFT WELL. IT HAS BEEN IN FOR TRANSMISSION FLASH AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CLUTCH REBUILD AT 19,000 MILES. WAS IN FOR CHECK AND TRANS FLASH AT 29,000 MILES WEEK OF JUNE 27TH 2019. WAS IN TODAY, JULY 16 FOR CHECK BECAUSE IT OPERATED WORSE AFTER IT WAS LOOKED AT THREE WEEKS AGO. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAYS CLUTCH HAS TO BE REBUILT/REPLACED AGAIN...IT HAS ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS WE CANNOT TRUST THE VEHICLE TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OR MOVE PROPERLY WHEN GAS PEDAL IS PUT DOWN. FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND STILL SOLD DEFECTIVE VEHICLES
UPON COMING TO A STOP (SUCH AS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR STOP SIGN,) THE VEHICLE MAKES EXTREMELY LOUD "CLUNKING" NOISES WHEN SHIFTING DOWN IN GEAR. THE SOUND SEEMS TO COME DIRECTLY FROM THE TRANSMISSION AREA AND IS IN SYNC WITH THE CHANGING OF GEARS. UPON ACCELERATION FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION WILL MAKE GRINDING SOUNDS AND STUTTER THE ENTIRE CAR IN A JERKING-TYPE MOTION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE ENTIRE CAR FEELS AS IF THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER AND MAKES IT HARD TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY IN HIGH-SPEED/HIGH-TRAFFIC AREAS (SUCH AS FREEWAY ON-RAMPS OR STATE HIGHWAYS.) I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THAT THIS COULD BE A DANGEROUS THING BECAUSE IF I WERE TO PASS SOMEONE ON A DOTTED LINE, OR EVEN PULL OUT ONTO A ROADWAY, THE CAR MAY EITHER STALL OR STUTTER SO SLOWLY THAT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET UP TO SPEED CORRECTLY, RESULTING IN A POSSIBLE COLLISION. LASTLY, I WOULD LIKE TO MENTION THAT ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS NOW, WHEN I AM TRYING TO PARK THE CAR IN A PARKING SPACE, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SWITCH IT INTO REVERSE AT ALL. MY GEAR SHIFTING STICK WAS IN REVERSE, AS WELL AS THE GAUGE-CLUSTER DISPLAYING I WAS IN REVERSE, HOWEVER, MY CAR ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL. I WOULD HAVE TO PLACE THE CAR BACK INTO PARK OR DRIVE AGAIN, AND THEN TRY AGAIN FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO SUCCESSFULLY SWITCH INTO REVERSE. I DID CONTACT MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER THEY SAID THEY WERE MANY WEEKS OUT AND I NEVER COULD GET AHOLD OF ANYONE THERE TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO LOOK AT IT. I WILL ADD ON THAT MY CAR ONLY HAS 17,000 MILES ON IT AS OF JULY 2019. FROM MY RESEARCH, I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHERS POST COMPLAINTS OR WORRIES IN REGARD TO THE 2017 FORD FOCUS AND ITS TRANSMISSION. I HOPE THAT NHTSA WILL LOOK INTO THIS FURTHER AND CAN FIND ANSWERS AS TO WHY MANY, MANY OF THESE CARS ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH STALLING, STUTTERING, AND GRINDING NOISES AND MOTIONS COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION.
THIS 2017 FORD FOCUS IS HAVING THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEING DESCRIBED BY OTHER FORD OWNERS FROM EARLIER MODEL YEARS. CAR SHUTTERS AND VIBRATES, OFTEN VERY HEAVILY AND MAKES LIGHT GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING. CURRENT WORKAROUND IS TO ACCELERATE VERY SLOW OR VERY FAST WHICH ISN'T ALWAYS A SAFE OPTION. PLEASE INCLUDE THE 2017 FOCUS IN YOUR INVESTIGATION. THANK YOU.
WHEN ACCELERATING, TYPICALLY FROM A STOPPED POSITION BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AT ABOUT 20K MILES AND I'M TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP "SOME SHUDDERING IS TO BE EXPECTED & CANNOT BE REPAIRED". I DISAGREE. THIS IS NOT TO BE EXPECTED AS NO OTHER VEHICLE I'VE OWNED DID THIS UNLESS THERE WAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM.
Everytime i press on the gas from a slow speed or from a complete stop, the car shakes and shutters until it finally starts to go. I have brought this to multiple dealers who have told me it is the transmission and that we shouldn’t have the transmission replaced because it will just go bad right after because ford purposely made them this way. My safety is put at risk because as the car struggles to bring itself to speed, i am almost stuck where i am, leaving me vulnerable in intersections for seconds until it catches up. Cars behind me have gotten aggressive and honked before because of how long it takes my car to speed up. They have sped past me, scaring me half to death. I have brought this to individual mechanics and the ford dealer himself who confirmed it’s the transmission. There were never any warning messages ever. This happens everytime i press the gas from a complete stop or a very slow speed, it started aroudn when i got it.
I RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER IN JANUARY 25, 2019. THE RECALL 18532 FUEL TANK INSPECTION. HALLMARK FORD IN BATESVILLE, MS SAID THE INSPECTION PASSED. ON JUNE 10, 2019 THE CAR WOULD NOT START THEY TOWED THE VECHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH 32,573 MILES. ON JUNE 12, 2019 I PICKED THE CAR UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THE CAR RAN FROM JUNE 12, 2019 AND IT STOPPED IN THE GARAGE ON JUNE 22, 2019. ROADSIDE SERVICE PICKED-UP THE VEHICLE ON JUNE 23, 2019. 0N JUNE 26, 2019 HALLMARK FORD IN BATESVILLE, MS SAID THE CAR IS READY TO BE PICKED UP. WHEN WE ARRIVED TO PICK THE VEHICLE UP AT THE DEALERSHIP THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THEY HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE BACK INSIDE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND PARTS HAS NOT BEEN PUT BACK ON THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY. THEY TRIED TO JUMP THE VEHICLE OFF BUT IT WOULD NOT START. SO I ASKED FOR A SERVICE VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND I AM A FEMALE AND I WANTED A CAR BUT THEY GAVE ME A PICK UP TRUCK. I FEEL UNSAFE WITH MY CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE. THE CLUTCH IN THE TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED TWICE. IT CAUSES MY CAR TO JERK AND SHUDDER UPON ACCELERATION. I'VE ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE JERKING.FORD DOESN'T HAVE A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS.
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR THE ENGINE AGAIN. I THE TRANSMISSION FOR MY 2013 FORD FOCUS HAD THIS SAME RECALL AND I WENT IN TO GET IT FIXED BY FORD CAMPBELL IN NILES, MICHIGAN. THEY TOOK APART THE TRANSMISSION AND EXPECTED ME TO PAY $2000 TO FIX IT WHEN THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION, TO BEGIN WITH. I HATE THIS MODEL AND I AM SICK OF CONSTANTLY HAVING RECALLS ON THIS MODEL. I THINK ANYONE WITH THIS MODEL SHOULD HAVE THEIR CAR REPLACED WITH A BETTER MODEL THAT WON'T HAVE A RECALL ON IT AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THE LOAN ROLLED OVER.

The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving and accelerating between 30-70 MPH. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving and had worsened. The contact stated upon starting the vehicle and attempting to drive, the gear shifter remained seized in park(P). The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she needed to pay a fee for diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V845000 (Power Train) and that the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS FREQUENTLY. ITS A REOCCURRING ISSUE EVERY TIME I DRIVE AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 30K MILES ON IT, THE CAR DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH THE SELECT SHIFT MODE AND IT HAS BEEN DOING IT SINCE I GOT THE CAR, IT MAKES THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE CAR SHAKE (NOT VIOLENTLY ENOUGH TO MAKE THE CAR STEER OUT OF CONTROL). I TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT AND CANT REPRODUCE THE ISSUE, BUT ITS A WELL KNOWN THAT THE FORD POWERSHIFT TRANSMISSION IS TERRIBLE, BASICALLY THE ISSUE IS NOT COMMON ENOUGH TO NEED REPLACING SO I'M JUST STUCK WITH A POOR TRANSMISSION.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY JUST GETTING OFF ONTO THE OFF RAMP WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT, OIL LIGHT AND WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON. THE ENGINE LOST COMPRESSION INSTANTLY AND REDUCED SPEED DOWN TO 30 MPH.
A FEW MONTHS AGO, MY CAR STARTED TO SHAKE (IN A JERKING, FORWARD AND BACK MOTION), AND STRUGGLE TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD MAKE THIS NOISE, LIKE GEARS GRINDING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET IT FIXED UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH. FOR ABOUT A WEEK, IT WAS FINE. THEN IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN. IT WILL JERK BACK AND FORTH WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP (AT A STOPLIGHT FOR EXAMPLE). RECENTLY, I HAVE BEEN LOSING GAS VERY QUICKLY BECAUSE IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY PAST 4RPMS JUST TO GET FROM 0-20MPH. I'M NOT SURE IF THE WARRANTY IS STILL ON IT, BUT IT ONLY HAS 12,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE ONLY MADE ONE VERY BIG TRIP WITH IT, TO KANSAS AND BACK TO VIRGINIA. IT DOES THIS OFF AND ON EVERY SINGLE TIME I DRIVE IT. I HAVE TO DRIVE ANYWHERE FROM 25 MINUTES TO AN HOUR FOR WORK, SO THIS IS REALLY NOT CONVENIENT TO HAVE. MULTIPLE TIMES I WAS WORRIED IT WOULD BREAK DOWN AS I STRUGGLED TO KEEP IT FROM OVERDOING ITSELF WHILE ACCELERATING. A FEW TIMES, I COULD SMELL SOMETHING LIKE EXHAUST IN THE VENTS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER THE COURSE OF 6 MONTHS AND HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE, EVEN AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND HAVING THEM TELL ME IT WAS "FIXED."
WHEN ENGINE WARMS UP AND YOU ARE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, STOP SIGN, ANYWHERE THE CAR COMES TO A FULL STOP AND YOU THEN PROCEED TO HIT THE GAS ONCE IT HITS AROUND 16-20 MPH THE TRANSMISSION FRONT END OF THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT STARTS STUTTERING AND JERKING HEAVILY. ONCE YOU GET OVER ABOUT 20-21MPH IT STOPS. THIS CAN HAPPEN ANYWHERE STREET, HIGHWAY, ANYWHERE THE CAR COMES TO A FULL STOP THEN GOES. HAPPENS EVERYDAY ONCE THE ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION WARMS UP SOME.
SLIPPAGE WITH TRANSMISSION ON TURNING CORNERS. FLUID IS GOOD ON VEHICLE. HAPPENS WITH EACH TURN, RIGHT OR LEFT. ENGINE REVS ON TURNS UP TO PASS 3 RPMS. THIS STARTED WITH THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE IN AUG 2019. I KNEW MY DEALER WOULD NOT ADDRESS IT A FEW DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED LIT. ALSO, THE VEHICLE DID NOT START FOR A FEW DAYS. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT FAILED AFTER THREE DAYS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED AND UNKNOWN FAILURE CODES APPEARED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE DOOR SENSOR. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
THE HEADLINER AT THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD HAS COME LOOSE AND IS SEPERATING . LOOKS AS IF IT WAS NOT GLUED OR NOT ENOUGH MATERIAL WAS USED TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. DO NOT KNOW HOW FORD FASTENS THE HEADLINER TO THE WINDSHIELD AREA,BUT FOR IT TO COMES LOOSE AFTER ONLY HAVING BOUGHT IT NEW IN MAY OF 2018 I THINK IS RIDICULOUS , HEADLINER IS 90% TO 95% ALL THE WAY ACROSS.. THIS WAS DISCOVERED IN DRIVEWAY AND CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN TAKING A SUNSHADE FROM THE WINDSHIELD. THIS WAS FIRST NOTICED ON 06=03-2019.
WHENEVER GOING FROM ONE LOW GEAR UP TO ANOTHER, IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT IT BEGINS TO SHAKE AND GRIND GEARS. THIS OCCURS WHEN DRIVING ON ANY ROAD AND DOES HAPPEN IF YOU ARE TURNING. AFTER PURCHASING THIS CAR, INITIALLY IT WAS NOT AS BAD. BUT THE MORE IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN, THE WORSE THE PROBLEM HAS GOTTEN. I KNOW THIS IS NOT ONLY MY CAR ACTING THIS WAY BECAUSE I KNOW A FRIEND WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WERE THE ONES WHO TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT LIKE A STOLE IT.
THE CAR HAS BEEN IN SHOP THREE TIMES IN 3MTHS FOR REPLACEMENT TWICE OF CLUTCH DUE TO DUEL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION. AND IT WAS SOLD TO ME BY CARCHOICE IN NLR AR. WITH A RECALL OF FUEL TANK. AND CLUTCH ISSUES.
OCCASIONALLY THE TRANSMISSION MIS-SHIFTS OR SLIPS VIOLENTLY. OCCASIONALLY IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT ACCELERATOR INPUT. EXAMPLE 1: I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY MERGED INTO MY LANE WHERE I WAS. I BRAKED AS I GOT OVER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I THEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE RPM WENT TO AROUND 8000. THE CAR DIDN'T ACCELERATE, IN FACT IT FELT LIKE IT WAS CONTINUING TO SLOW. MY FOOT WASN'T ON THE BRAKE, THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO BE IN A NEUTRAL STATE. THE VEHICLE BEHIND ME HAD CAUGHT UP TO ME AND HAD TO VEER INTO THE FURTHEST LEFT LANE TO AVOID ME. AFTER RELEASING THE GAS AND PRESSING IT AGAIN THE CAR FELT LIKE IT FELL INTO THE CORRECT GEAR AND IT ACCELERATED. EXAMPLE 2: MY WIFE AND I WERE OUT AND WE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND EASED UP TO AVOID THAT LURCH FEELING AS I CAME TO A FULL STOP. THE CAR LUNGED LIKE IT WAS TRYING TO DRIVE ITSELF. THIS WAS A VERY SHORT TIME FRAME BUT IT WAS STILL TERRIFYING. I HAD MY WIFE IN THE CAR, SHE SAID SHE HAS EXPERIENCED THAT A FEW TIMES. EXAMPLE 3: WHEN ACCELERATING FROM FULL STOPS THE VEHICLE OCCASIONALLY HESITATES TO GO. THE ENGINE RPM WILL GO UP BUT THE CAR WILL SIT STILL OR BARELY MOVE AND JERK ABOUT. LUCKILY NONE HAVE RESULTED IN ACCIDENTS BUT IN ALL SITUATIONS THE ONLY REASON THERE WASN'T ONE WAS BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSE REACTED QUICKLY ENOUGH. THE VEHICLE THAT SWERVED TO AVOID, THE DRIVER BEHIND ME NOT GOING JUST BECAUSE MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE OFF AND NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME WHEN THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD ON ITS OWN.
A MONTH AGO I STARTED GETTING HIGH TEMPERATURE WARNING ON MY CAR, MY COOLANT WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY, SO I REFILLED IT, BUT NOW MY COOLANT IS COMPLETELY EMPTY AGAIN WHICH COULD HAVE RESULED IN A FIRE, I HAVE NO BEEN IN ANY RECENT ACCIDENTS, I'M A VERY DEFENSIVE DRIVER AND I DIDN'T RUN ANYTHING OVER.AND MY BACK BREAK LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT AND IVE REPLACED IT SEVERAL TIMES
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM STAND STILL, IT ACTS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING CAUSING A HESITATION
I HAVE A 2017 FOCUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION THATS SLUGGISH/SLIPPING. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND AT 13,000 I ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION FOR A CLICKING/STALLING/SLIPPING. WHEN I BOUGHT IT IN AND EXPLAINED THE REASON ITS LIKE THEY ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. HAD TO WAIT ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE THE PART GOT CHANGED. NOW AT 15,000 THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION REVS HIGH BEFORE SWITCHING GEARS. IT SLUGGISH WHEN MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. EVEN WHEN NEEDING THAT LITTLE BIT EXTRA POWER GOING UP A HILL, IT BOGS DOWN AND I HAVE TO MOVE OVER IN LANES MAKE SURE NO ONE BEHIND ME GETS STUCK. I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT TAKING MY CAR BACK IN AGAIN BEFORE MY 30,000 MILE WARRANTY HITS TO TRY AND GET IT REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. THE TRANSMISSION IS UNRELIABLE AND NOT EFFECTIVE. I WISH I DIDNT BUY THIS CAR AND WENT WITH A NISSAN OR TOYOTA. BUT IM STUCK WITH THIS UNRELIABLE CAR.
SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS AND SOUNDS AND FEELS LIKE VIBRATIONS. HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED AT 34K. HAPPENJNG AGAIN. BROUGHT IT TO FORD , THEY REPROGRAMMED THE TRANSMISSION , 2 DAYS LATER HAPPENING AGAIN.
VEHICLE TRANSMISSION STALLS WHILE DRIVING, TO INCLUDE IN INTERSECTIONS. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR, WE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE WHICH THEY SAID THEY FIXED. WITHIN 2 DAYS, IT WAS DOING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE ARE NOT AT ALL PLEASED WITH FORD FOR EVEN SELLING US THIS VEHICLE KNOWING IT HAS HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FOR SEVERAL YEARS!
MY CAR SHUDDERS FROM A STOP. SOMETIMES ON THE HIGHWAY IT SHAKES LIKE MY TIRE ARE OUT OF BALANCE. SOMETIMES ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN ACCELERATING TO PASS SOMEONE THE CAR SOMEWHAT STALLS THE RPM RED LINE AND SLOWLY COME BACK TO NORMAL. SOMETIMES FROM A STOP THE VEHICLE WILL NOT RESPOND TO MY FOOT ON THE GAS THEN IT WILL "CATCH UP" . I HAD MY CAR IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE DEALER TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW CLUTCHES AND I WAS JUST OUT OF MY WARRENTY.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE CAR OFTEN STRUGGLES TO GET UP TO SPEED. IT WILL ALSO SHUDDER AND SHAKE WHILE DOING THIS. INTERMITTENTLY SHIFTING INTO REVERSE WILL YIELD NO RESULTS AND I WILL HAVE TO PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, AND TRY AGAIN WHICH SOMETIMES FIXES THE ISSUE. CAR WILL ALSO LUNGE FORWARD FROM A STOP WITH VERY LITTLE ACCELERATOR PRESS AND OTHER TIMES WILL LAG AND HAVE LACK OF ACCELERATION DESPITE "FLOORING IT". WHILE TURNING AND ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR CAN'T DECIDE WHAT GEAR TO BE IN AND WILL PROVIDE FAR MORE POWER THAN IS NECESSARY.
6-SPEED DUAL CLUTCH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLIPS WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, CLUNKS AND RATTLES WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP. HAS HAPPENED EVERY DAY SINCE I'VE HAD THE CAR.
THE ENGINE TENDS TO STALL AT TIMES, HAVE TO PUMP THE GAS PEDAL TO KEEP IT RUNNING. CAR IN MOTION. HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES FOR ALMOST THE TIME WE BOUGHT IT.
PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW WITH ONLY 21 MILES ON IT, BRAND NEW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITHIN 8MNTHS I HAD TO HAVE THE CLUTCH REPLACED BECAUSE IT WAS SHUDDERING AND HESITATING ON ACCELERATION. BY NOVEMBER I WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN AND THE 3RD CLUTCH WAS PUT IN, NOW AGAIN JUST 5 MNTHS LATER THE CAR IS GETTING ITS 4TH CLUTCH . REPEAT ISSUE AND NO RESOLUTION. OTHER THAN LET THEM KEEP PUTTING CLUTCHES IN UNTIL MY WARRANTY DIES.
CAR WILL NOT START. WILL RESPOND TO A JUMP BUT WILL NOT START AFTER RUNNING FOR AWHILE AGAIN. THEN IT STARTS WITH A BIT OF HESITATION FOR AWHILE AND THEN BACK TO NEEDING A JUMP. WHEN AT A STOP AND ACCELERATING, THERE IS A HUGE PAUSE BEFORE THE RPMS KICK IN THEN IT GOES ALL THE WAY TO MAX BEFORE CALMING DOWN TO WHERE IT SHOULD BE. POWER JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT. ALSO THE SYNC 3 HAS HORRIBLE RESPONSE AND DELAY MOST DAYS. IS IT RELATED TO THE POWER /ELECTRICAL ISSUE? NEW OWNER PURCHASED 2/19.
MY 2017 FOCUS DEVELOPED A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER SHIFT DUAL CLUTCH TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AT LOW SPEEDS. IT WOULD LAUNCH WELL INITIALLY, BUT THEN START TO SHUDDER AND SLIP UNTIL 2ND GEAR WAS FULLY ENGAGED. THE PROBLEM WAS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN TURNING ONTO A ROAD WHILE ACCELERATING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC, AND THE SHUDDERING WAS STRONGER AT THE END OF A DRIVE THAN AT THE BEGINNING. GRADUALLY THE SYMPTOMS BECAME MORE SEVERE, UNTIL I DID NOT FEEL SAFE MERGING INTO TRAFFIC AT NORMAL SPEEDS. AT THAT POINT I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DID A ROAD TEST AND INSPECTION AND CONCLUDED THE CLUTCH NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND TOOK 8 WEEKS TO ARRIVE; IN THE MEANTIME I HAD TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY FOCUS WITH ITS DEFECT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CLUTCH AND HALF-SHAFT SEALS UNDER WARRANTY AT NO CHARGE. THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED, AND HAS NOT REOCCURRED.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS HEAVILY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM 1ST TO 3RD GEAR. SEEMS TO ONLY DO THIS WHEN THE ENGINE IS WARMED UP.
AT UNPREDICTABLE TIMES, ACCELERATOR PRESSURE RESULTS ONLY IN ENGINE REVVING. THIS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF CURRENT SPEED, WHEN TURNING AT ANY SPEED OR WHEN MOVING FORWARD. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. WHEN IT DOES FINALLY ENGAGE, IT WILL DO SO IN A BURST OF ACCELERATION. THESE CONDITIONS CREATE PROBLEMS IN WHICH ROUTINE TRAFFIC MANEUVERS BECOME UNSAFE.
BETWEEN 10 AND 15 MPH, THE CAR WILL STUTTER, ACTING LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, IT WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY START ONE MORNING, ACTING LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING FUEL.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT AT APPROXIMATELY 3-5 MPH AND THE CAR SURGED FORWARD JUMPING THE CURB AND HITTING A TREE. PRIOR TO APPROACHING THE PARKING SPOT A SPEED BUMP WAS NEGOTIATED SO THE STATED MPH ARE ACCURATE AS THE SPEED BUMP WAS 25 FEET PRIOR TO THE PARKING SPOT ENTRY.
THE VEHICLE SHAKES AND LOSES POWER AT TAKE OFF. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO FORD AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS A "NORMAL FEATURE". THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED FOR OUR TEENAGER AND, 2 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE, WE ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH HER DRIVING IT. SHE PULLS INTO TRAFFIC AND THE CAR SHAKES AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE APPROPRIATELY. VERY UNSAFE AND NEEDS ADDRESSED.

LOCAL DEALER REPLACED 1 CLUTCH, 1 WEEK LATER DOING AGAIN, TOOK BACK TO DEALER SAID NEEDS 1,000 MILES TO BREAKIN. AS CAR GETS HOTTER THESE ISSUES ARE MORE NOTICEABLE. SLIPPING BAD. 2.0 SE HATCHBACK. DISAPPOINTED IN FORDS TRANSMISSIONS ,4TH FORD IN FAMILY WITH TRANSMISSION ISSUES 1997,2002, 2008, 2017.
CAR HAS 75,000 MILES. BOUGHT BRAND NEW. I COMMUTE TO WORK WHICH IS 120 MILE ROUND TRIP. MY HOUSE IS ABOUT 1 MILE FROM THE INTERSTATE. AFTER ABOUT 20,000 MILES I WOULD NOTICE SOME HESITATION WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR. THIS WOULD ONLY BE AFTER MY COMMUTE AND GOING FROM THE STOP AT THE END OF THE EXIT. AFTER MY EXITS BOTH FROM WORK AND HOME THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY NEED TO SHIFT ONCE FROM 1ST TO SECOND GEAR UNTIL I WOULD ARRIVE TO MY DESTINATION. RECENTLY WITHIN THE LAST 15,000 MILES IT'S NOTICEABLY WORSE. NOW I HAVE TRANSMISSION FLUID SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WILL BE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AT THE DEALERSHIP SOON AND WILL SAY SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
