ENGINE STALLS AND YOU CAN HEAR A RATTLING NOISE WHEN PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL TO TAKE OFF IN TRAFFIC.
TRANSMISSION STUTTERS OR SLIPS, ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN TURNING A CORNER. SOMETIMES DOESN'T CORRECTLY DOWNSHIFT. CAR ROLLS FORWARD WHEN IN REVERSE AND ROLLS BACKWARDS WHEN IN DRIVE.
THE CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE CAR ATTEMPTS TO SHIFFT FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR THERE IS A SHUTTER FEELING IN THE TRANSMISSION AND SOMETIMES A GRINDING SOUND, ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING WHILE ACCELERATING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HERTRICH FORD IN EASTON, MD TWICE NOW AND BOTH TIMES THEY SAY IT IS "WITHIN SPECS". THEY ALSO SAY THEY REPROGRAMMED SOMETHING. THE CAR HAS 29.000 MILES ON IT. NOW I'M HEARING WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A WHEEL BEARING THUMPING IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL.
CAR SHUDDERS FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP OR WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH TWICE. THE OTHER TIMES THEY VERIFY THE SHUTTER BUT SAID ITS WITH IN NORMAL SPEC. THEY SAID FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE.
WHEN I ACCELERATE FROM THE STOP, OR ON A TURN, MY CAR SHAKES TREMENDOUSLY AS IF THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO TEAR ITSELF APART; THIS STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. I AM CURRENTLY SERVING OVERSEAS, AND BOUGHT THIS BRAND-NEW VEHICLE THROUGH A MILITARY AUTO-SALES COMPANY FIGURING I WOULD HAVE A RELIABLE VEHICLE WHILE I AM AT THIS DUTY STATION, RATHER THAN BUYING A USED VEHICLE. BOY WAS I WRONG, EVERY TIME I AM ON THE ROAD, AND HAVE TO STOP FOR THE NUMEROUS TRAFFIC JAMS I AM IN, I FEAR THAT MY CAR IS GOING TO BREAK DOWN PERMANENTLY IN A TERRIFIC SPECTACLE; THANK YOU FORD, THANK YOU FOR TAKING WHAT MONEY I HAD FOR A MODEST VEHICLE...JUST TAKING IT.
MINE IS A MANUAL CAR, WHEN I AM ON THE 3RD GEAR I COULD FEEL THE RESONANCE OF THE VEHICLE, IN OTHER WORDS I COULD FEEL SLIGHT VIBRATIONS OF THE GEAR ROD, I DONT KNOW IF ITS COMMON OR NOT, BUT I DONT FEEL IT WHEN I AM IN OTHER GEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LYNN LAYTON FORD, 3300 US-31, DECATUR, AL 35603) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
I AM HAVING ISSUES AS STATED BY OTHERS WITH MY CAR HESITATING. I GO TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND THE CAR WILL HESITATE START SHAKING AS IT SHIFTS FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL EVEN FEEL LIKE IT IS STALLING OUT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AT LEAST TWO OR THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME THEY TELL ME THAT IS HOW THE TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSED TO BE. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT. WHEN I LOOKED THESE PROBLEMS UP THE PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS HAD THE SAME THINGS HAPPENING TO THEM. I WANT THIS RESOLVED BUT THEY KEEP PUSHING IT OFF. I HAVE CHILDREN WHO I TRANSPORT IN THIS CAR AND I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE! IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE IT HAD ONLY 3,000 MILES AND I ONLY HAVE 16,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. ITS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX!

The vehicle had been serviced on three separate occasions under warranty by Asheville Ford (611 Brevard Rd, Asheville, NC 28806) and Frederick Motor Company (1 Waverley Drive, Frederick, MD 21702) where the dual-clutch system was replaced. The contact stated that after each repair, the failure returned within 6-8 months after the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 15,000.
THE CAR SHUTTERS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FIXED IT AT LEAST 3 TIMES AND THEY SAY THERES NOTHING FOR ME TO DO BUT TO KEEP REPAIRING IT AND ONCE I DONT HAVE A WARRANTY THE MONEY WILL GO OUT OF MY POCKET.

THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO JIM TIDWELL FORD (2205 BARRETT LAKES BLVD, KENNESAW, GA 30144, 770-427-5531) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 5,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). I WANT TO CONTINUE WITH THE COMPLAINTS ON SHUDDERING WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I DRIVE FOR UBER/LEFT AND IT'S VERY UNNERVING WHEN I HAVE A RIDER AND THIS HAPPENS. I CAN'T ACCELERATE SAFELY THROUGH AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE OF THE SHUDDERING SOUNDS LIKE THE WHOLE CAR IS GOING TO BREAKDOWN. PLEASE PLEASE CALL FOR A RECALL ON THIS MATTER.
MY 2017 FORD FOCUS SE HAS A REALLY BAD HESITATION WHEN SHIFTING THROUGH GEARS, IT WILL ROLL BACKWARDS ON HILLS AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. VERY HORRIBLE SHUDDERING AND VIBRATION IN FRONT END. CLUNKING AND CHATTERING WHEN DRIVING. SLOW RESPONSE WHEN ACCELERATING. I FEEL LIKE MY CAR HAS TO SEARCH FOR THE GEAR SOMETIMES. RPM WILL RISE AND LOWER WEIRDLY WHEN SHIFTING. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR MODEL AND YEAR YET BUT I THINK THERE SHOULD BE JUST LIKE THE OLDER FOCUS'S. THIS WAS ALL IN MOTION UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I'VE TRIED TAKING TO DEALER BUT THEY SAY NO RECALL YET!!!! IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR QUITE SOME TIME, FEELS TO GET WORSE.
VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING EXTREME SHUDDERING WHILE ACCELERATING UP TO 30 MILES PER HOUR. ONCE REACHING AROUND 60 MILES PER HOUR, VEHICLE DOES NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE ANY FURTHER, AND THE ENGINE WILL REV BEFORE DECIDING TO ACCELERATE.
AFTER OWNING MY NOW 2ND FOCUS, ONLY TO GET OUT OF MY FIRST 2013 FORD FOCUS THAT HAD TRANSMISSION/INTERNAL CLUTCH, TO GET INTO A 2017 FORD FOCUS WHICH I LEARNED TODAY FOR THE 1ST TIME HAS THE SAME TRANSMISSION. BEFORE I MADE THE PURCHASE OF THE 17 ON JULY 1ST, 2017, I WAS TOLD THEY NO LONGER HAD THE DUAL CLUTCH INTERNAL AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, WHICH IS WHY I WAS WILLING TO TRADE THE 2013 FOCUS IN FOR THE 2017. MY CURRENT '17 ONLY HAD ABOUT 7600 MILES ON IT WHEN I STARTED FEELING THE CAR SHUTTER BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. THEN MORE RECENTLY BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE HAD BEEN BACK TO OXMOOR FORD IN LOUISVILLE KY 6 TIMES FOR FIXES, WHICH THERE NEVER WAS A KNOWN FIX. MY CURRENT '17 IS IN FOR THE FIRST TIME. SAME ISSUES AS THE 13 YEAR MODEL. AS I DRIVE IT, IT CLINKS AND MAKES RATTLE NOISES IN ADDITION TO THE SHUTTERING. IT SOUNDS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING TO DROP OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. IT'S UNSAFE AND WILL CONTINUE TO GET WORSE AS TIMES GOES ON JUST AS MY 2013 DID. THE SALES MANAGER OF OXMOOR FORD IS WHO SOLD ME MY 2017 FORD FOCUS WHICH WAS ALL UNDER FALSE PRETENSES.
REAR BACKUP CAMERA IMAGE IS SERIOUSLY DISTORTED AND IMAGES ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO ACTUALLY SEE CONDITIONS BEHIND THE CAR.
I HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE. THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERS WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT ALSO SHUDDERS WHEN ACCELERATING AND TURNING SIMULTANEOUSLY. THIS SEEMS TO BE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT AFFECTED FORD FOCUSES BUILT IN 2012-2016 VEHICLES. IT OCCURS MOSTLY WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IT HAS OCCURED THROUGHOUT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE (CURENTLY ~20K MILES DRIVEN). THIS ISSUE IS STILL ONGOING.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,026. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

(1833 E JEFFERSON AVE, DETROIT, MI) WAS CONTACTED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THE SUN ROOF WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,500.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING @ TAKE OFF,WHILE DRIVING. IT STALLED BETWEEN SPEED @ 18MPH AND 35MPH
CAR HESITATES AND SHAKES AT ACCELERATION CAUSING RISK OF ACCIDENT. IT JUMPS WHEN GOING FROM A STOPPED OR SLOW POSITION TO GIVING IT GAS. IT WAS IN MOTION WHEN I TRIED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND ANOTHER CAR WAS COMING HEAD ON. MY CAR WOULD NOT GO DUE TO THE ENGINE SHAKING. IT WILL DO THE SAME THING AT A STOP SIGN AND YOU GIVE IT THE SLIGHTEST AMOUNT OF GAS. WORSENS AS IT HEATS UP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW INTAKE GASKET NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT HAD A FIFTEEN DAY WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEIR PAPERWORK INDICATED A NINETY DAY WARRANTY. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
TRANSMISSION SLIPS & SHUTTERS, GRINDS, & SOMETIMES WON'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY.
CAR SHUDDERS ANYTIME I EXCELERATE FROM A STOP. ALSO LOOSES POSER IN THE MIDDLE OF TAKING OFF FROM A COMPLETE STUP...THE SHUDDER IS TERRIBLE AND VERY CONCERNING. I ALREADY HAD THE TRANSMISSION FIXED AT 25000 MILE ..I AM AT 32000 AND ITS STARTING TO DO THE SAME PROBLEM...FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP ON THIS..WE NEED A CLASS ACTION SUIT ,LIKE THEY ARE DOING IN CANADA ON THIS PROBLEM WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY CANADA.

MCFARLAND FORD SALES INC. (151 PORTSMOUTH AVE, EXETER, NH 03833, (603) 772-5953) PERFORMED SEVERAL ROAD TESTS AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED UNDER THE PARAMETERS OF WHAT WAS ACCEPTABLE TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER ONLY CONFIRMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE DEALER OFFERED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, BUT WOULD NOT EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES IF A RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE CURRENT WARRANTY WAS FOR 60,000 MILES. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OF WHETHER SHE COULD TRUST THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
THE REGENERATIVE BRAKE SYSTEM OCCASIONALLY CAUSES PROBLEMS WHEN ON BUMPY, SLIPPERY, OR UNEVEN PAVEMENT. THE BRAKES APPEAR TO LOCK-UP, OR "SKIP" WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLIDE FORWARD ABRUPTLY. I AM NOT SURE OF THE EXACT CAUSATION, HOWEVER I THINK IT MAY BE DUE TO THE CAR SWITCHING FROM REGENERATIVE TO FRICTION BRAKING. THIS FORM REQUIRES A DATE AND MILEAGE ENTRY, HOWEVER I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I AM BRAKING ON LESS THAN PERFECT PAVEMENT.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR THE CLUTCH WAS DEPRESSED AND DID NOT RELEASE LEAVING THE CAR TO COAST TO A STOP IN NEUTRAL. THIS OCCURRED IN A PARKING LOT, WHILE TRAILING >5 MPH PULLING BACK ON THE CLUTCH DID NOT RELEASE IT AND VERTICAL WAS TOWED WITH IT STILL FULLY DEPRESSED . LUCKILY THIS ISSUED HAPPENED IN A SAFE LOCATION, BECAUSE THIS ISSUE RESULTED IN FULL LOSS OF POWER BEING SENT TO THE WHEELS.
WHILE TRAVELLING AROUND 20 TO 25 MPH IN THE LEFT HAND LANE OR A TWO LANE CITY STREET, THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO STOP, HOWEVER, WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I QUICKLY RELEASED AND DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULT. I TRIED TO AVOID THE VEHICLE BY TURNING TO MY RIGHT, BUT I WAS TOO CLOSE AND HIT THE RIGHT BACK BUMPER OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, CAUSING EXTREME DAMAGE TO THE FRONT LEFT SIDE OF MY CAR. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOTALLED THE CAR.
My mother, [XXX], purchased this car in 2017 with only 2 miles on it. Shortly after purchasing it, the steering went out. She had it repaired. Then the clutch on the transmission went out. She had to fight with dealership and Ford to get it replaced. Since this, we have had to have six clutches put in. We have also had to have another steering column put in and two purge valves. The car is now back in the shop having the seventh clutch put in. We have contacted Ford several times asking them to do a buyback and they refuse. My mom is a retired 72 year disabled vet and has to have reliable transportation due to her health. Please assist her in getting this issue resolved. PURCHASED NEW AT 9000 MILES TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHUDDER AND SLIP ON ACCELERATION, HAD CLUTCH REPLACED AT 11K MILES, AT 22K MILES IT OCCURED AGAIN THIS TIME JERKING INTO GEAR WHILE ACCELERATING, REPLACED CLUTCH AGAIN 24K MILES AT 37K MILES HAD IT REPLACED AGAIN FOR THE SAME REASON. 3 CLUTCH REPLACEMENTS IN UNDER 40K MILES AND IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS UNSAFE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND HIGHWAYS TRANSMISSION FAILURE IS DANGEROUS. TRANSMISSION JERKING, SHUDDERING TAKES LONGER TO GET UP TO SPEED AND MAINTAIN SPEED IN TRAFFIC. ALSO SHUDDERS AND SLIPS WHEN STARTING OFF FROM A STOPLIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 FORD FOCUS. AFTER PULLING INTO HER OFFICE PARKING LOT, THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD AND STRUCK A STONE WALL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE AND DID NOT NEED TO BE TOWED. ABOUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED NOTICING A "SHUDDER" IN THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I WOULD TRY AND TAKE OFF FROM A STOP IT WOULD SHUDDER AND FEEL AS THOUGH MY TIRES WERE SKIPPING ACROSS THE PAVEMENT PRETTY BAD. EVENTUALLY IT WAS SO BAD THAT I WOULD NOT TURN IN FRONT OF AN ONCOMING CAR THAT WAS EVEN A HALF MILE AWAY OUT OF FEAR IT WOULD STALL OR SIMPLY NOT MOVE. I ENDED UP TAKING MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR AFTER SEEING NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE AND DECIDING IT WAN'T ALL IN MY HEAD. I WAS CHARGED $130 FOR THEM TO TELL ME THEY CLEANED THE CLUTCH AND IT WAS "NORMAL" FOR THIS TYPE OF CAR AND THAT I NEED TO DRIVE IT HARDER DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION IT HAS IN IT. IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW HARD I DRIVE MY CAR IT IS STILL THERE. CLEANING OF THE CLUTCH OR WHATEVER THEY DID TO IT, WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK. HERE I AM BACK TO HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND IT IS GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE. I AM SEEING ALL TYPES OF COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE AND FEEL THIS IS NOT NORMAL. A BRAND NEW CAR SHOULD NOT FEEL LIKE CRAP TO DRIVE. BUYER BEWARE!
CLUTCH PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR FOR THE SECOND TIME WHEN DRIVING. WAS DRIVING ABOUT 46 MPH AND SHIFTED TO 5TH GEAR AND THE CLUTCH WENT HALF WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT RETURNING... THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS AGAIN BECAUSE CARS WERE BEHIND ME TAILGATING AND I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT WHEN PULLING OVER WITHOUT ANY POWER TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. PLEASE PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS ASAP. 2017 FORD FOCUS SHUDDERS AND CLUNKS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. CAR SHUDDERS SO HARD THAT IT FEELS LIKE TRANSMISSION IS FALLING OUT OF CAR. TOOK IT BACK TO BILL ESTES FORD WHERE I PURCHASED CAR AT 5000 MILES AND THEY KEPT IT FOR TWO DAYS AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND OPERATING WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. CAR CONTINUED SHUDDERING PROBLEMS AND THEN I TOOK IT TO TOM WOOD FORD AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL AND TO JUST KEEP DRIVING IT. THEN TOOK IT TO DON HINDS FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE ALL FOCUS MODELS HAVE THE PROBLEM. I THEN TOOK IT TO PEARSON FORD WITH ABOUT 10,000 MILES ON IT AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE LEARNING MODULE. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THEY ALL FOCUS HAVE THE PROBLEM AND THEIR OPTIONS TO FIX IT IS LIMITED BY FORD CORPORATE. CAR CONTINUED TO SHUDDER AND CLUNK ON ACCELERATING. TOOK IT BACK TO PEARSON FORD WITH 13000 MILES AND THEY REPROGRAMMED TRANSMISSION CONTROL, PCM AND ADAPTIVE LEARNING MODULE. CAR SHUDDERING WAS LESS FOR ABOUT 4 DAYS. NOW WITH 15000 MILES THE SHUDDERING AND CLUNKING IS WORSE THAN EVER AND SHUDDERING IS OCCURRING AT ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR WHILE ACCELERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT THE DEALERS ARE BEING TOLD BY FORD CORPORATE TO SAY IT'S NORMAL TO SHUDDER AND CLUNK. CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR FORD FOCUS TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH PROBLEMS DID NOT INCLUDE 2017 MODELS ONLY UP TO 2016 EVEN THOUGH THE 2017 MODELS HAVE THE SAME TRANSMISSION/CLUTCH.
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2017 FORD FOCUS AND WITHIN A YEAR OF HAVING THE VEHICLE IT BEGAN TO SHUTTER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THERE WAS NOT A BIG ENOUGH PROBLEM TO FIX. A FEW MONTHS LATER IN ADDITION TO THE SPUTTERING WHILE TAKING OFF FROM BEING STOPPED THE TRANSMISSION NOW SHUTTERS WHEN I REACH SPEEDS OF 50-65. I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. FORD IS PUTTING OUT A GARBAGE PRODUCT AND REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
CLUTCH PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE/SPRING AND GOES TO FLOOR LEAVING VEHICLE IN GEAR AND VEHICLE STALLS WHEN DRIVING - DID THIS ON A HIGHWAY TWICE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT GEARS. VERY DANGEROUS AS IT ALMOST CAUSED A BAD ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY AT ALMOST 70MPH. VEHICLE LUCKY MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD COSTING IN AFTER STALLING WHEN CLUTCH WOULD NOT RETURN TO ITS NORMAL STATE. DEALERSHIP NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE ISSUE BUT ISSUE IS INTERMITTENT AND I FEAR IT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS IT CAUSES THE CAR TO STALL WHEN THE CLUTCH GOES TO THE FLOOR AFTER LOSING PRESSURE ALL OF A SUDDEN WHEN VEHICLE IS STILL IN GEAR - IT WILL STALL OUT. SEEMS TO BE A POPULAR ISSUE AMONG MANY OTHER 2016-2017 FORD FOCUS RS VEHICLES. OTHERS REPORTED ISSUE WAS FINALLY RESOLVED BY REPLACING MASTER AND SLAVE CLUTCH CYLINDERS. SIMPLY BLEEDING LINES AND/OR REPLACING CLUTCH AND/OR FLYWHEEL DOES NOT RESOLVE ISSUE. FORD NEEDS TO RESEARCH AND ISSUE A RECALL ASAP AS THIS IS LIFE THREATENING BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OUT WHEN THIS OCCURS.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDER. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WARMS UP THE CAR SHUDDERS UPON ACCELERATION AND SHIFTING INTO FIRST, SECOND, AND OCCASIONALLY THIRD GEAR. THIS GENERALLY OCCURS DURING MEDIUM TO HIGHER RATES OF ACCELERATION. THE SHUDDER IS HARDER TO IDENTIFY OR NONEXISTENT WHEN ACCELERATING AT A VERY LOW PACE.
ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING WHEN IT IS WARM. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR MOMENTARILY OCAASIONALLY WHEN IN REVERSE CAUSING SAFTEY ISSUE. HAVE TAKEN TO BLUEBONNET FORD, AND THEY STATE IT IS AS DESIGNED. I CALLED JORDAN FORD AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE FORD FOCUS. THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING SINCE APRIL 2018, ABOUT 10 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE.

I HAVE BEEN AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO AND TRUCK TECHNICIAN FOR 33 YEARS. I HAVE SIT DOWN WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER AND THE GENERAL SALES MANAGER AND I DONT THINK FORD MOTOR COMPANY OR THE DEALER IS TAKING THIS MATTER SERIOUSLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT HERE PLEASE HELP

TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW WARNING SOUND AND DISPLAY. CAME TO A STOP AT THE NEXT SIGNAL AND CAR LURCHED FORWARD IN SEVERAL JUMPING MOTIONS AND WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. CAR HAS 5900 MILES WHEN THIS OCCURRED. CAR TOWED TO DEALER WHERE PURCHASED, SERVICE "CLEARED CODES, PERFORMED ADAPTIVE LEARN AND TEST DRIVE, CODE P2701-TCM STATES TO REMOVE CLUTCH AND INSPECT FOR WEAR" WHICH WAS NOT DONE. SERVICE FOUND VEHICLE NOW IS "OPERATING AS DESIGNED" AT THIS TIME. IF CODE RETURNS TECH WILL REMOVE CLUTCH FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. PICKED UP VEHICLE AND WITHIN 20 MILES DRIVING SAME CODE RETURNED AND SYMPTOMS WERE WORSE THAN 1ST TIME, NOW WITH 5980 MILES ON VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED AND WAS VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING AS THERE WAS NO CONTROL OVER ACCELERATION, SHIFTING OR STOPPING. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AT TIME OF WRITING THIS DESCRIPTION.
BOUGHT CAR NEW TOOK TEST DRIVE ALL SEEMED FINE DID PAPER WORK DROVE HOME, FIRST STOP ON OFF RAMP WHEN LIGHT TURNED GREEN I GAVE CAR GAS AND IT JUST SAT THERE SLIPPING AND NOT SHIFTING. I CANNOT REMEMBER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION OR IF THE "REPAIR" WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. EITHER WAY, THE DEALERSHIP TRIED EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO AVOID ME- SO MUCH THAT I PASSED THE MAXIMUM MILES COVERED IN THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BEFORE I WAS ALLOWED TO BRING IT IN BUT THEY DID STILL HONOR IT, CONSIDERING MY COMPLAINT WAS WELL BEFORE THE THRESHOLD WAS SURPASSED. WHEN I PICKED MY CAR UP I WAS TOLD A NEW ELECTRONIC COMPONENT WAS INSTALLED IN(?) THE TRANSMISSION THAT WOULD RECORD AND ADAPT TO MY DRIVING STYLE, ALLOWING A MUCH SMOOTHER TRANSITION BETWEEN GEAR SHIFTS, SOLVING THE SHUDDERING. WHATEVER THEY DID WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK, JUST LONG ENOUGH TO ENSURE THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED. NOW IT IS WORSE THAN EVER- SEVER SHUDDERING AND JERKING BETWEEN GEARS, TAKING LONGER THAN IT SHOULD TO SHIFT GEARS, EVEN SLIPPING GEARS SOMETIMES, OCCASIONAL UNINITIATED ENGINE REVVING AND BOGGING DOWN, HESITATING TO ACCELERATE- BOTH AT A STOP AND WHILE IN MOTION, ROLLING BACKWARDS ON AN INCLINE WHILE IN DRIVE. I'M AFRAID TO PULL OUT ONTO A ROAD IF THERE'S ANY TRAFFIC COMING, AFRAID TO CROSS AT A MEDIAN, MERGE INTO TRAFFIC FROM AN OFF RAMP. TOOK CAR THERE, THEY CALLED AND SAID THERE A HOLE IN PISTON # 4 , NEED NEW ENGINE AND NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF MODIFICATION, I ASK WHAT MODIFICATION AND THEY SAID CALL FORD MOTOR, WE DON'T HAVE ANY PAPER WORK. The vehicle was taken to a third local dealer, Jones Ford, Inc. (5757 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC 29406) where it was diagnosed with a transmission failure, and the clutch was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.
JANUARY 2018 I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT (SR 99- LAKE STEVENS, WA / SPEED LIMIT 55 MPH) WHEN I WAS REAR ENDED BY A HYUNDAI ELANTRA TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MPH, I WAS STRUCK FROM THE REAR AND PUSHED INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME (NISSAN PATHFINDER). HOWEVER, MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER THE REAR (1ST) OR THE FRONT (2ND) IMPACT.THE DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE WAS EXTENSIVE ($10K). AS A RESULT FROM THE ACCIDENT I AM CURRENTLY IN CARE FOR MULTIPLE DISC BULGES IN THE CERVICAL SPINE.
