TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FROM A COMPLETE STOP BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE REPAIRS WAS NOT AVAILABLE AND WAS ON BACKORDER FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 106,000.
05 FORD FREESTYLE SURGES AT LOW SPEEDS, PARTICULARLY IN REVERSE AND/OR WHEN THE AC IS TURNED ON. CAR BEGAN STALLING WHILE DRIVING. AUTO MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE CAUSE WAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD FOR MANY MONTHS. VERY DANGEROUS CONSIDERING CAR CAN STALL OR SURGE AT ANY MOMENT. *TR
2005 FORD FREETSTYLE LUNGES FORWARD WHEN PLACED IN GEAR AND SOMETIMES WHEN SITTING AT A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. ALSO LUNGES BACKWARD WHEN IN REVERSE. *TR
I WAS PARKED WITH THE CAR IN PARK. I WENT TO PUT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. I HAD TO TURN IT AROUND FIRST. I PUT CAR IN DRIVE AND DROVE FORWARD A LITTLE. STOPPED PUT IN REVERSE, DROVE BACKWARDS A LITTLE THEN PUT BACK IN DRIVE AND JUST AS I WAS STOPPING CAR LURCHED FORWARD, HITTING MY DEEP FREEZER. THE CAR HAS ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO GO FORWARD BEFORE WHEN I PUT ON THE BRAKES LIGHTLY. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 4 TIMES BUT, TODAY WAS THE WORST. *TR
I WAS BACKING UP WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LURCH AND DID NOT WANT TO STOP. I SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS AND SAW THAT THE CEL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED AND THE DASH DISPLAYED FAIL SAFE MODE. CONTINUED TO BACK UP CAREFULLY AND THEN WHEN DRIVING FORWARD THE CAR DIED. TURNED KEY OFF WAITING A FEW SECONDS STARTED THE CAR UP AGAIN AND WENT DIRECTLY TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE SO THAT I COULD READ THE STORED CODE. NOTHING SHOWED UP SO I STARTED THE VEHICLE UP PUT INTO REVERSE AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN SO I GRABBED THE CODE READER AND IT DISPLAYED P061B AND P2106. AFTER DOING SOME INVESTIGATION IT LOOKS AS IF THE THROTTLE BODY IS NEEDING TO BE REPLACED, AND FROM ALL OF THE READING I HAVE DONE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS ISSUE. THE ISSUE IS ALSO COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT THIS PART IS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER FROM FORD. WITH ALL OF THAT INFO, I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL TO FIX THIS WIDESPREAD ISSUE. *TR
2005 FORD FREESTYLE HAS BEEN SURGING AND LURCHING WITHOUT DEPRESSING GAS PEDAL. WHILE STOPPED BUT IN EITHER DRIVE OR REVERSE, ONCE FOOT IS REMOVED FROM BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATES WITHOUT WARNING. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED, THE WRENCH LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WENT INTO FAILSAFE MODE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. THE PART WON'T BE IN STOCK UNTIL AUGUST AND THE DEALER IS RECOMMENDING THE VEHICLE NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE THROTTLE BODY IS REPLACED. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAD A PEDESTRIAN BEEN IN FRONT OF OR BEHIND MY CAR WHEN IT ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING AND WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING PUSHED. *TR
TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES OF THE CAR BEING TURNED ON (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN MOTION). STEERING GETS REAL SENSITIVE. *TR
STARTED CAR AND PUT IN GEAR THEN IT LUNGED FORWARD WITH FOOT ON BRAKE. TURNED CAR OFF FOR A MOMENT (15 SECONDS) TURNED BACK ON PUT IN REVERSE AND IT LUNGED BACKWARDS INTO A POLE (THANK GOD SOMEONE WASN'T BEHIND ME). FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE LIGHT CAME ON, A WRENCH AND CHECK ENGINE ALSO SHOWED UP. AS OF NOW CAR IS BEING TOWED TO DEALER. IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. 96 K MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO INTERMITTENTLY ACCELERATE BACKWARD WHEN THE CONTACT WAS IN REVERSE. THE DEALER ADVISED THERE WAS NOT A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE THROTTLE BODY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH IN A PARKING LOT. AS THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AS HE APPLIED THE BRAKES. THERE WAS ALSO AN ABNORMAL INCREASE IN BRAKING DISTANCE. THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN IN REVERSE. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING A DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH ANY REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
MY 2005 FORD FREESTYLE STARTED SURGING AND THEN CUTTING OFF. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STARTING UP, ONCE IN DRIVE AND ONCE IN REVERSE. THE WRENCH LIGHT APPEARED WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WITHIN 4 DAYS. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER IMMEDIATELY. WAS ADVISED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THE CAR COULD CUT OFF WHILE DRIVING IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC EVEN AT 60 MPH. WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. RESEARCH ON FORD FORUM AND OTHER WEB SITES INDICATES THAT THIS IS A HUGELY PERVASIVE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL NOTICE. CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS IT WOULD POSE A SERIOUS HIGHWAY SAFETY ISSUE. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALER TODAY AND AM WAITING TO SEE IF THEY WILL PROVIDE A LOANER. STILL NOT SURE WHAT TYPE OF COOPERATION I WILL RECEIVE FROM FORD IN TERMS OF A LOANER OR WHEN THE PROBLEM WILL BE CORRECTED BECAUSE OF THIS "NATIONAL BACKORDER" OF THE PART. I'M LEERY ABOUT THE NATIONAL BACKORDER BECAUSE I READ ON ONE BLOG THAT THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE PART IS OUT OF BUSINESS. THIS COULD GO ON FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AT VERY LOW SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY LUNGE AND SURGE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONCE OR TWICE A DAY BUT ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONTACT HAD TO RAPIDLY DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP SURGING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. AS I WAS PREPARING TO TURN, THE CAR SURGED FORWARD CONTINUOUSLY. I PRESSED THE BRAKE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND THE SURGE CONTINUED, WHICH WAS DANGEROUS, AS I ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN. I PUT IT IN PARK AND THE SURGE CONTINUED, AS IT DID AFTER I PUT IT BACK IN DRIVE TO GET THE BEAST INTO THE PARKING GARAGE. IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A FAILED THROTTLE BODY, WHICH WAS REPLACED ON JULY 7, 2010 AT A COST OF $821.33 BY CROWN FORD, NASHVILLE TN.
OUR 2005 FORDFREESTYLE HAS A KNOWN SURGING PROBLEM. EVERYTIME IT WOULD SURGE WE WOULD TAKE IT TO THE SHOP TO BE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. FINALLY THE CAR LUNGED 2 FT FORWARD AND SHUT DOWN WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT. WE HIT THE FUEL RESET BUTTON TO GET IT WORKING THEN WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP; PAID AROUND $3000 TO REPLACE THE FUEL RESET BUTTON AND SENSORS TO ONLY HAVE IT START BACK UP A WEEK LATER. WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PAY ANOTHER $1000. NOW A MONTH LATER THE CAR IS SURGING AGAIN. THIS TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THANKFULLY A BACK ROAD, THE CAR JUST SHUT ITSELF OFF AND NON OF THE SYSTEMS WORKED. THE BRAKES BARELY WORKED. WE HAD TO LET THE CAR COAST TO A STOP. IT IS CURRENTLY A VERY LARGE AND EXPENSIVE LAWN ORNAMENT. *TR
IN 2010, MY CAR WOULD GO INTO "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE" AND I WOULD HAVE TO SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART IT. AFTER A FEW TIMES, IS STARTED LURCHING FORWARD WHEN IT WAS IDLING. AT THAT TIME, I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED. TODAY, APRIL 10, 2013, I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND THE "ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE" KICKED ON TWICE AND THE SECOND TIME, THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT WENT ON AND STAYED ON. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT SAFELY TO WORK AND DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A SHOP ACROSS THE STREET FROM MY OFFICE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC RUN. IT COST $75 AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED! I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THAT THEY CAN DO IS CLEAN AND RESET THE COMPUTER UNDER A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RECALL. I PLAN TO DROP IT OFF TODAY AT A DEALERSHIP ON MY WAY HOME. UNFORTUNATELY, THE CAR NOW HAS OVER 109,000 MILES AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT I REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY IN 2010 AND IT IS MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT IF THIS DOESN'T WORK, IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CAR AND I WANT TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE TO MAKE SURE THAT THIS IS FIXED CORRECTLY AND THE COST IS TAKEN ON BY FORD FOR THE FAULTY PART! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS OF THE FAILURE. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.

THROTTLE SURGES WHEN IN REVERSE. THIS HAS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF OFF AND ON. NOW STARTING TO SURGE A LITTLE WHEN IN DRIVE. WHEN YOUR FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE AND NOT ON THE GAS, THE CAR TRIES TO ACCELERATE. *TR

SHE CONTINUED DEPRESSING THE BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS MOST LIKELY CAUSING THE FAILURE BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO BE PROPERLY DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER REPAIRED NOR DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 36,000.
THE VEHICLE PERIODICALLY LURCHES FORWARD OR BACKWARD UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE, FROM PARK TO DRIVE, REVERSE TO DRIVE OR DRIVE TO REVERSE. WHEN THIS UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION OCCURS THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING. THIS ISSUE OCCURS ON ALMOST A DAILY BASIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE CHANGING GEARS FROM PARK TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LUNGED FORWARD WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT APPLIED EXCESSIVE FORCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND OVER TIME OCCURRED MORE FREQUENT. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE BACKWARDS WHEN SWITCHING THE GEAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION OPEN UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) THAT MAY BE RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
THE VEHICLE STARTED SURGING WITHOUT FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL. THIS OCCURS AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHEN STOPPING. HAVE HAD TO RAPIDLY PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HOLD IT TO AVOID ACCIDENTS. WHEN THE SURGING OCCURS, MANY TIMES THE VEHICLE GOES INTO FAIL-SAFE ENGINE MODE WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW ONE TO SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEARS. THIS CAUSED A PROBLEM ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN CAUGHT IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. COULD NOT ACCELERATE AFTER SURGE-ENGINE DYING-FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER OCCURRENCE AND FAILSAFE ENGINE MODE WAS SOLVED BY PULLING OVER, KILLING THE MOTOR, WAITING, AND THEN RESTARTING. SURGING IS CAUSING A STRESS ON THE TRANSMISSION WHICH NOW APPEARS TO HAVE SLACK IN IT. *TR
I OWN A 2005 FORD FREESTYLE, BOUGHT NEW, AND OVER THE PAST 6-12 MONTHS I HAVE BEGUN TO NOTICE SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO GEAR. THE ENGINE REVS AND THE VEHICLE SURGES FORWARD OR BACKWARD. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE ENGINE DIE WITH NO WARNING WHILE THE CAR WAS IN GEAR AND RUNNING. ON 6/29/2010 I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND IT SURGED BACKWARDS, I APPLIED THE BRAKES STRONGLY AND THE ENGINE DIED. THE SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS ARE BECOMING MORE FREQUENT, IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME 3 TIMES IN THE PAST 7 DAYS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO INQUIRE FOR MORE INFORMATION AND HAVE RESEARCHED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET. I FOUND HUNDREDS OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS DETAILING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING MY CAR EXAMINED AND REPAIRED AT THE FORD DEALER. REPAIRS ARE EXPECTED TO COST AT LEAST 500 DOLLARS. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED FORD HAS NOT MADE ANY ATTEMPTS TO WARN OWNERS OF THE PROBLEM AND/OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT NO COST. SUDDEN ACCELERATIONS, NOT UNDER CONTROL OF THE DRIVER, ARE OBVIOUSLY QUITE DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING. LOSING ENGINE POWER IN CONJUNCTION WITH IT, IN TRAFFIC, CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AS WELL. I WANTED TO INFORM YOU OF THE PROBLEM THAT APPARENTLY MANY OF US FREESTYLE OWNERS ARE HAVING, IN HOPES SOMETHING CAN BE DONE TO FIX THE VEHICLES AND PROTECT THE OPERATORS AND TRAVELING PUBLIC. *TR
WE STARTED NOTICING THE ENGINE SURGE A FEW MONTHS AGO WHENEVER WE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK OR NEUTRAL. THE RPM'S JUMPED AROUND 400-600 ABOVE IDLE AND NOW ARE OVER 700-800 WITH THE A/C ON. SO FAR, WE HAVE NOT EXPERIENCED ANY DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS 94000 MILES ON IT AND ASIDE FROM THAT PROBLEM, WE HAVE BEEN PLEASED WITH IT. *KB
VEHICLE REVS UP WHEN TURNING INTO A TIGHT PARKING SPACE. FEELS LIKE A SURGE WHICH REQUIRES FASTER THAN NORMAL BRAKING TO STOP. THE CAR DOES STOP BUT IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR SUDDENLY HAS SOMEONE ON THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE AT THE SAME TIME FOR A MOMENT OR TWO. *TR

THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED WITH A USED THROTTLE BODY DUE TO THE SAFETY ISSUE AND THE PART BEING ON A MASSIVE BACK ORDER. TWO YEARS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. CURRENTLY, A NEW THROTTLE BODY WAS BEING REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. IT HAS BEEN GETING WORSE AND IT IS DEFFINETLY WORSE WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE AND YOU HAVE THE AC ON. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE OTHER DAY WE WERE LEVEING A PARKING LOT AND BEHIND ANOTHER CAR AND OUR FREESTYLE LUNGED FORWARD AND WE ALMOST HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF US. THESE CARS HAVE A SERIOUS ISSUE AND IT WILL CAUSE INJURIES OR MABYE KILL SOMEONE IF NOTHING GETS DONE ABOUT IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED STATING THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 75,000.

VEHICLE LUNGES FORWARD WHILE PUTTING IN GEAR, EITHER FORWARD OR REVERSE. PROBLEM SEEMS WORSE THEN THE AC IS RUNNING. ALSO, THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND IDLED VERY HIGH WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK. THIS STARTED HAPPENING AROUND 70,000 MILES AND NOW HAVE 74,000 AND IS HAPPENING QUITE OFTEN. I WAS TOLD THAT IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE THE THROTTLE BODY PART WILL BE IN AND THAT IT HAS TO BE PRE PAID BEFORE IT CAN BE ORDERED. THE PART IS AROUND $500 AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND THEY ARE GOING TO TRY AND EXPEDITE THE PART, BUT CAN NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY SEEMS TO SURGE EITHER IN FORWARD AND REVERSE WHEN TAKING FOOT OFF BRAKE BEFORE YOU EVEN HIT THE GAS PEDAL. ON OR ABOUT AUG 1ST, 2011 WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IT SURGED IN REVERSE AND THEN QUIT. IT DID THAT TWICE. ONCE I RESTARTED AFTER THE SECOND TIME IT SEEMED TO STABILIZE ALMOST LIKE THE COMPUTER ADJUSTED. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE IN THE WARM TO HOT WEATHER. AT THIS POINT WITH MY VEHICLE I FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE AND WOULD NOT LET ANYONE ELSE DRIVE IT AS I AM AWARE OF IT AND AM I KNOW THAT I NEED A FIRM FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY REVIEWS OF MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND I WOULD ALSO THINK MAYBE A POSSIBLE COMPUTER CONTROL.

CAR BEGAN SURGING FORWARD EVEN WITH BRAKE APPLIED CREATING OPPORTUNITY FOR COLLISIONS. A FEW WEEKS LATER IT STARTED STALLING AND WOULD GO INTO SAFE MODE AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE ABOVE 40MPH, WHICH WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE ON THE INTERSTATE. DEALERSHIP HAS DIAGNOSED AS THROTTLE BODY ISSUE AND PART IS ON BACKORDER. OBVIOUSLY A HIGH RATE OF REPAIRS BEING DONE IF PART ON BACKORDER. SEVERAL FORUMS INDICATE THIS IS A COMMON OWNER ISSUE AND HAS RESULTED IN UNSAFE CONDITIONS. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES WHEN I DROVE IT (THIS IS NOT THE CAR I USUALLY DRIVE). THEN ON JUNE 5, 2010 I WAS IN PARK AT A GAS STATION WITH THE ENGINE ON AND I PUT IT IN REVERSE AND IT LUNGED BACKWARDS...I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THEY DIDN'T WORK...I SWITCHED IT TO NEUTRAL AND THEN THE ENGINE STALLED OUT AND ALL THE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON (OIL, REPAIR, ENGINE, FAIL MODE). I TURNED THE KEY SWITCH TO OFF, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, THEN RESTARTED IT AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE OFF. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME SAFELY. I WAS JUST GLAD NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM/DEFECT!! I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT NOW! ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ABOUT ALL THE OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH THEIR FREESTYLES. *TR
