VEHICLE IS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE LIMITED ALL WHEEL DRIVE...OFTEN, WHEN IDLING WITH THE TRANSMISSION IN DRIVE AND FOOT ON BRAKE, THE ENGINE RPMS WILL INCREASE WITHOUT PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR WILL LUNGE FORWARD UNTIL EXTREME PRESSURE IS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. SOMETIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IN REVERSE AND THE CAR LUNGES AS DESCRIBED, THE CAR WILL STALL AFTER LUNGING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON. UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE CAR WILL RUN, BUT IN A LIMITED CAPACITY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. STOPPING THE CAR, TURNING THE CAR OFF, AND THEN RESTARTING THE CAR, CLEARS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE CAR WILL OPERATE NORMALLY. THIS SEEMS TO OCCUR MORE OFTEN WHEN AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS AROUND OR ABOVE 90 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR NEW IN 2006, THIS HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 50 TIMES. *TT
I PURCHASED MY 2006 FORD FREESTYLE AWD NEW, AND AT 22,388 MILES, THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW, AT 30,495 MILES, THE REAR BRAKES AND ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED AND A PINT OF BRAKE FLUID NEEDED TO BE ADDED. I FIND THIS TOTALLY EXCESSIVE. *AK

2006 FORD FREESTYLE THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT ON THE MIDDLE SEAT LOCKS WHEN THE SEAT IS LAID DOWN OR IT LOCKS WHEN NOT IN USE. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES AND WE CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE SEAT BELT IS CURRENTLY NOT USABLE. *TR
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
MY WIFE AND I TOOK OUR 2006 FORD FREESTYLE INTO THE DEALER FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND CHECKUP. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE REAR BREAK PADS WERE DOWN TO 3 PERCENT. I EXPRESSED SURPRISE, SINCE WE HAD THE CAR ONLY FOR ONE YEAR (18,800 MILES), AND ASKED HOW THAT COULD BE. THE SERVICE REP ONLY INDICATED THAT IT WOULD BE DUE TO HOW WE DRIVE. LATER THAT DAY, I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A TSB ISSUED ON THAT VERY PROBLEM.
VEHICLE ENGINE ACCELERATES TO APPROXIMATELY 2100 RPMS WHILE IN GEAR FORCING IT TO LUNDGE FOWARD OR REVERSE WITHOUT THE INTERACTION OF DRIVER THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO OCCUR WHILE AT IDLE,AND DECELERATION TO STOP, MALFUNCTION IS BECOMING MORE PROBLEMATIC WITH MILEAGE AND AGE OF VEHICLE. *TT
CAR WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVE WAY WHEN MY HUSBAND NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES HAD 10-12 INCH SLITS WITH METAL EXPOSED..TOOK TO A FORD DEALERSHIP WITH OUR EXTENDED WARRANTY AND FORD TAKES NOT LIABILITY..THE DAMAGE IS AS FOLLOWS: FRONT END ALIGNMENT, 2 TIRES AND 2 CONTROL ARMS BENT WHEN VEHICLE WAS DELIVERED BY CARRIER...FORD ADMITTED THAT, THEY EVEN CHANGED THE CONTROL ARMS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE 2007 YEAR MODEL BUT WE HAVE TO PAY ANYWAY..FORDS QUOTE WAS OVER $750.00. THE ARMS ARE FACTORY FAULTED BUT WE HAVE TO PAY...WHY GET EXTENDED WARRANTY THEN OR WORSE WE HAVE LESS THAN 20,000 MILES ON CAR... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT WAS ATTEMPTING TO REVERSE WHEN THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND WHEN RESTARTING, THE FAILURE RECURRED BEFORE STALLING YET THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED BUT THEN INDEPENDENTLY RESTARTED. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE COMPUTER AND THE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM WAS CLEANED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE WRENCH WARNING LIGHT WAS RE-ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY DECELERATED BEFORE STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE BUT ADVISED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DEFECTIVE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ON ACTIVATED ON HIGH OR MEDIUM HIGH. ADDITIONALLY, THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HAD ALSO FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,001.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE WITH THE BRAKES DEPRESSED. AS PRESSURE WAS RELEASED FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY LUNGED BACKWARD. WHEN THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE WOULD SPORADICALLY LUNGE FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND USUALLY WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE11018 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL) WHICH THE CONTACT BELIEVED MAY HAVE BEEN RELATED TO THE FAILURE .THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2006 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 23,000 MILES WITHIN 4 MONTHS I STARTED EXPERIENCING A WHINING NOISE. THE NOISE STARTED GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER, I THEN STARTED TO FEEL THE CAR WANTING TO ACCELERATE WHILE MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 5 TIMES. THE CAR WOULD STALL AND THE WRENCH LIGHT WOULD COME ON. I WOULD TURN IT OFF AND LET IT COOL A LITTLE AND IT WOULD START RIGHT UP AGAIN. THE PROBLEMS CONTINUED ESPECIALLY IN THE HEAT. I LIVE IN MIAMI FLORIDA AND IT WAS JUST ABOUT EVERYDAY THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN. THEN FINALLY IT HAPPENED, THE CAR JUST DIED ON ME. I WANT TO POINT OUT THAT I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WITH 30,000 AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE NO LIGHTS CAME ON. I LET THEM SERVICE THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING WAS OK. THE DEALER TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT, HE ALSO TOLD ME THE THROTTLE BODY WENT AND INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD WENT AS WELL. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING FORD COULD DO THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO CALL. FORD WAS THE WORST AT CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT I EVER EXPERIENCED. THEY SAID NO TO EVERYTHING BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. AFTER SPENDING ALMOST $6,000 THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT FORD WAS NOW GIVING 100,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR REMANUFACTURED TRANSMISSIONS. TO THIS DAY, I HAVE REPLACED BRAKES, ROTORS, ANOTHER THROTTLE BODY, FRONT ENGINE MOUNT AND THE CAR IS NOW EXPERIENCING A WHINING NOISE AGAIN. I STILL HAVE 15,000 WARRANTY LEFT ON LAST TRANNY I PUT IN. I'M THINKING THEY MAY HAVE TO PUT A NEW TRANNY IN AGAIN. FORD KNEW ABOUT THIS RECALL AND HOW DANGEROUS IT WAS AND NEVER ASKED FOR A VOLUNTARY RECALL, I AM ALSO VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE NHTSA. THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSAND OF COMPLAINTS AND THEY ALSO DID NOTHING ABOUT. *TR
PREMATURELY WORN REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR DAMAGE. FORD INITIALLY HAD A RECALL ON THE REAR BRAKE PADS DUE TO FAULTY MATERIAL COMPOSITION. SINCE THE PADS WERE REPLACED BY RECALL I HAVE EXPERIENCED A SIMILAR FAILURE ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS ABOUT 17000 MILES, FOLLOWED BY 33000 MILES AND AT 47000. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT 67000 MILES AND THE REAR PADS AND ONE ROTOR HAVE FAILED AGAIN. FRONT BRAKE PADS WHERE REPLACED AS A COURTESY BY THE FORD DEALER AT 47000 AND FRONT ROTORS HAVE NEVER BEEN REPLACED. I SPOKE WITH THE LOCAK FORD DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE PREMATURE WEAR AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THAT A PROBLEM EXISTS BUT FORD HAS NOT RECALLED OR CORRECTED ANYTHING. AS A RESULT OF THAT CONVERSATION I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS CONTACTED BY AN INVESTIGATOR TO DISCUSS THE BRAKES AMONG OTHER PROBLEMS. THE INVESTIGATOR DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE BRAKE WEAR WAS A PROBLEM AND ONLY STATED THAT IT WAS A WEAR ITEM. WHEN ASKED WHY THE REAR BRAKES FAILED AT A RATE SIGNIFICANTLY FASTER THAN THE FRONT BRAKES THE INVESTIGATOR REFUSED TO COMMENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE/WINSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE CONTACT STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER'S FRONT SIDE. THE ROAD CONDITIONS WERE CLEAR. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE REASON FOR THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE 6,700. *AK
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE WITH 16,000 MILES AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I NOT ONLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKE PADS BUT THE ROTORS AS WELL. I RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS FOR THIS PARTICULAR CAR. THIS IS WAY TOO EARLY FOR BRAKE PADS TO BE WEARING OUT AND IF IT WAS "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" THE FRONT PADS SHOULD NEED REPLACED SINCE 70% OF THE BRAKING OCCURS THERE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE BECAUSE FORD IS UNWILLING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. *JB
SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING OUR CAR THE PAINT WAS "SAND BLASTED" OFF THE FORWARD SIDE OF THE REAR FENDERS. THE DESIGN OF THE CAR ALLOWS FOR THIS TO OCCUR. IT IS AWD AND THE FRONT TIRES CONSTANTLY THROW ROCKS AT THE REAR FENDERS. THE DEALER PAINTED THE FENDERS. SIX MONTHS LATER, THE PAINT WAS WORN AWAY. THE DEALER PAINTED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE DEALER APPLIED A SPECIAL PROTECTIVE DEVICE GIVEN TO THEM FROM THE FACTORY OVER THE PAINT TO PREVENT IT FROM OCCURRING IN THE FUTURE. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP, I LEARNED THAT THIS IS ACTUALLY THE SAME THIN PIECE OF PLASTIC FILM THE MANUFACTURER PUT THERE WHEN THEY BUILT IT. IT WAS DESTROYED ORIGINALLY WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS ALONG WITH THE PAINT. I HAVE CONTACTED FORDS CUSTOMER SERVICE, FORDS BUY BACK PROGRAM, THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE, AND BBB. I AM JUST NOW WORKING WITH THE BBB. ALL OTHER CONTACTS TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING MORE FORD WOULD DO TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. WHILE SPEAKING TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, I WAS TOLD: (1) FORD WOULD DO NOTHING MORE TO FIX THE ISSUE, (2) I HAVE THE OPTION WHILE IT IS UNDER WARRANTY TO TAKE IT BACK AND HAVE IT PAINTED EVERY 6 MONTHS, (3) I COULD SEARCH THE FORD WEBSITE AND FIND A PART OFF ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE THAT MIGHT FIX THE PROBLEM, HAVE THE DEALER ORDER IT, AND TAKE IT HOME AND TRY TO MAKE IT FIT ON MY CAR TO PROTECT THE PAINT, (4) HAVING PAINT REMAIN ON THE FENDERS FOR LONGER THAN 6 MONTHS WAS OUTSIDE OF THE SCOPE OF THEIR QUALITY POLICY, (5) THAT THE CAR WAS NOT DESIGNED TO BE DRIVEN ON GRAVEL. ALL THESE RESPONSE ARE NOT ONLY UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE, BUT ALSO ABSURD. IF THE DEALER HAD TOLD ME, "SINCE YOU HAVE A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY, I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE YOUR VEHICLE REPAINTED EVERY 6 MONTHS" I NEVER WOULD HAVE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. IT IS A POOR DESIGN, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND POOR SALES PRACTICES TO SELL VEHICLES THAT MUST BE DRIVEN ON CLEAN DRY ROADS AT ALL TIMES. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED IT HAPPENED WHETHER THEREWAS A FRONT PASSENGER IN THE SEAT OR NOT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND THE DEALER SAID THEY REPAIRED IT. THE CONTACT STATED THE LIGHT CAME ON 2/22/07. PREMATURE WEARING DOWN OF REAR BRAKES ON 2005 FORD FREESTYLE, VEHICLE ONLY HAS 14K MILES. BRAKING PERFORMANCE WAS DIMINISHED. FORD DEALER REPLACED ROTORS AND PADS FREE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. ALSO NOTICED EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST ON REAR WHEELS. *JB
PURCHASED A USED 2006 FORD FREESTYLE WITH ONLY 11,500 MILES AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW BRAKES ALL THE WAY AROUND AT THIS EARLY MILEAGE. I BELIEVE THE BRAKES ARE DEFECTIVE ON ALL FORD FREESTYLES FROM BOTH 2005 AND 2006 THE ONLY YEARS THESE VEHICLES HAVE BEEN PRODUCED, FORD NEEDS TO RECALL FOR BRAKE ISSUES. *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WAS ABNORMALLY DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIFTEEN TIMES AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A PIN IN THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE ROTORS WERE FREEZING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE ROTORS AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. IN ADDITION, THE CHORD FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DETACHED AND WRAPPED AROUND THE AXLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A NEW CABLE WAS INSTALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SURGED WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHETHER IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800.
REAR BRAKES ON MY 2006 FORD FREESTYLE LIMITED AWD ARE FAILING. I HAVE EXCESSIVE BRAKE DUST AND MY REAR ROTORS ARE ALREADY GROOVED AND THEY REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 20K ON THIS CAR. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SPEEDS RANGING FROM 25 TO 55 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO APPLY THE BRAKES IT BEGAN SHAKING AND VIBRATING. WHILE STEERING THE VEHICLE AND TURNING, THE TIRES RUBBED THE INNER WALLS. THE FUEL GAUGE AND SPEEDOMETER FAILED ON 2 OCCASIONS AFTER ADDING THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF FUEL TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 320. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE ON SIX OCCASIONS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1,300. *AK

FORD FRESTYLE 2006 LIMITED AWD- REAR BRAKES WORE DOWN TO METAL WITHOUT WARNING AFTER ONLY 11,000 MILES. *JB
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE WITH LESS THAN 15,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING NORTH BOUND ON INTERSTATE 75 BETWEEN MILE MARKER 101 AND 128 THE GAS TANK WAS PUNCTURED. WHAT PUNCTURED THE GAS TANK IS UNKNOWN BUT THERE WAS A SMALL AREA OF "BURRING" AND THE TANK CRACKED APPROX. 4 INCHES RELEASING FUEL. THE GAS TANK AND LINER FAILED BY WHAT APPEARS TO BE A SMALL IMPACT. CONSEQUENCE WAS RELEASE OF FUEL (FULL TANK). FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO ADVERSE OUTCOME OTHER THAN REPLACING THE TANK AND FUEL... THE TANK IS BEING REPLACED. I WILL RETAIN THE DAMAGED TANK FOR FURTHER INSPECTIONS. IF THE NHTSA WOULD LIKE TO EXAMINE THE TANK PLEASE CONTACT ME AND I WILL PROVIDE IT TO YOU. 1. NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING/DEBRIS SHOULD NOT PUNCTURE THE TANK AND CREATE THIS UNSAFE CONDITION. HAD THE FUEL IGNITED THEN SERIOUS BODILY HARM OR DEATH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. 2. LOOKING AT THE GAS TANK LAYOUT THERE IS NO PROTECTION FROM ANY TYPE OF DEBRIS E.G. SKID PLATE, FABRICATION MATERIALS, ETC. THIS MAKES THE GAS TANK VULNERABLE TO PUNCTURE POTENTIALLY CREATING AN UNSAFE CONDITION. 3. THE TANK IS NON SELF-SEALING TO MINIMIZE THE RELEASE OF FUEL. 4. THERE IS AN INADEQUATE HEAT SHIELD IN PLACE TO PREVENT FUEL FROM REACHING THE EXHAUST AND IGNITING. 5. THERE IS A POTENTIAL WORKMANSHIP ISSUE WITH THE GAS TANKS AS THEY MAY BE TOO BRITTLE AND UNABLE TO WITHSTAND THE IMPACT AS TESTED. AS THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF A COLLISION IN WHICH RUPTURED THE GAS TANK. THERE WAS ALSO ONLY A VERY SMALL AREA OF BURRING THAT RESULTED IN A SIGNIFICANT CRACK TO THE FUEL TANK. *NM

I HAVE THREE COMPLAINTS REGARDING MY VEHICLE. I PURCHASED A 2006 FREESTYLE IN JUNE OF 2006. IN OCTOBER 2006 MY SON AND I WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE FRONT END DAMAGE RESULTING IN OVER $10,000 IN REPAIRS. THE CAR JUMPED OVER TWO RAVINES, BOTH TIMES SEVERELY IMPACTING THE GROUND. ALMOST THE ENTIRE FRONT PART OF THE CAR HAD TO BE REPLACED, INCLUDING THE RADIATORS, GRILL, BUMPER,ETC. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALSO, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED TWO TIMES MAKING THE LATEST THE THIRD SET OF TIRES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE SET OF TIRES I JUST HAD REPLACED WERE 60,000 MILE CONTINENTAL TOURING TIRES. THEY HAD UNEVEN, CHOPPY, WEAR AND WERE APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS OLD. I AM ON THE SECOND SET OF BRAKES, BOTH FRONT AND REAR AND HAVE HAD THE REAR ROTORS REPLACED.. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000 MILES ON IT. THE PREMATURE, UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AND THE BRAKE WEAR ARE EXCESSIVE COMPARED TO ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. 2005 FORD FREESTYLE REAR BRAKE PADS WORN DOWN INTO BRAKE ROTORS AT 25,000 MILES. *NM
I HAVE TWO BIG PROBLEMS WITH MY FORD, FIRST I'VE HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND A HALF AND REPLACED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES FOUR TIMES. THE ROTORS WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN REPLACED BEFORE I GOT THE SUV. MY FORD FREESTYLE HAS HAD REAR BRAKE PROBLEMS SINCE I PURCHASED IT NEW FROM BEARTOOTH FORD IN HARDIN, MT. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED/REPAIRED THE REAR BRAKES WHILE THE CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THE RIGHT REAR BRAKE WAS DRAGGING TO THE EXTENT THAT THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL WOULD GET SO HOT YOU COULD NOT TOUCH IT CREATING A DANGER OF FIRE. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED EACH TIME AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MOST RECENT REPAIR WAS MADE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN MISSOULA, MT. AT A COST OF $500.00 AFTER THE BRAKES WENT OUT AGAIN, WE TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE MISSOULA FORD DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE BRAKES. THEY REFUSED TO DO SO. SO NOW I HAVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE WITH ONLY THREE (3) BRAKES. THIS PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN OF MY CAR.
I HAVE A 2006 FORD FREESTYLE WITH ONLY 55,560 MILES THAT I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATION OF THE CAR. THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 30 MPH AND SURGES BADLY . THE CAR SHAKES BADLY DURING ACCELERATION, HAS STALLED AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.THE WRENCH LIGHT AND SERVICE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACING. THEY ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS HAS BEEN A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL CAR. THE THROTTLE BODY PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND FORD HAS NO IDEA WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE CAR FOR A WEEK NOW AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN I WILL HAVE TRANSPORTATION AGAIN. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED ON THEIR VEHICLE END UP WITH THE SOME PROBLEM AS FORD HAS NOT CORRECTED THE PROBLEMS WITH THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS IS AN $900 REPAIR AND ALONG WITH THE COST OF HAVING TO PAY FOR ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION MAKES THIS A COSTLY PROPOSITION. TIRE WAS REPLACED. WAS TOLD NOT UNDER WARRANTY. SECOND COMPLAINT AT 18,770 MILES I HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES THAT WERE WORN TO METAL. THE R-R ROTOR WAS DAMAGED SO THE REAR PAD/SHOES, ONE ROTOR, AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED. ONE ROTOR WAS RESURFACED. THIS SEEMED LIKE A LOT OF SERIOUS WORK FOR AN AUTOMOBILE THAT WASN'T EVEN TWO YEARS OLD. I WAS A PREVIOUS OWNER OF A FORD EXPLORER AND WE DIDN'T HAVE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM THAT EARLY.

UPON LOWERING THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW TO GET A PARKING LOT TICKET, THE WINDOW WOULD NOT THEN GO BACK UP. IT WAS NO LONGER WORKING. OTHER WINDOWS WERE STILL WORKING FINE, BUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW COULD NOT BE CLOSED. I HAD TO LEAVE THE CAR AT THE AMTRAK STATION AS I WAS ABOUT TO CATCH A TRAIN. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TOWED THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN A MONTH OLD! UPON INSPECTION IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR HAD BURNED OUT. IN ADDITION, SERVICE FOUND A CHAFED/EXPOSED WIRE IN THE DOOR NEXT TO THE JUNCTION BOX. THEY REPLACED THIS ALSO. *JB
