WHEN HITTING BRAKES WHILE GOING OVER ROUGH OR BUMPY ROADS AT 25 MILES PER HOUR OR HIGHER BRAKES ENGAGE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING AND BRAKE PEDAL STOPS WORKING WITH NOW POWER AND NO RESISTANCE. BRAKES STOP WORKING AND MUST BE PUMPED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET A RESPONSE. SLOWLY AT TIMES IT MAY TAKE DAYS TO GET BACK TO WORKING A FULL PRESSURE UNLESS ISSUE ARISES WITH ROUGH ROAD.

BRAKING IS SOFT. MUST PUSH BRAKE PEDAL NEAR TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES, THEY TIGHTEN UP. THIS STARTED AFTER I BRAKED SUDDENLY GOING OVER A SPEED BUMP AT ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR. MECHANIC SAYS THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY THE ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT. I SAW SEVERAL YOUTUBE VIDEOS THAT MATCH MY PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE.

BRAKE PEDAL EXCESSIVE TRAVEL AND ON A FEW OCCASIONS WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN HARD BRAKING ON HIGHWAY NEARLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT.
AFTER EACH TIME THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGE THE BRAKE PEDAL FEEL BECOMES SOFT. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE PAST 3 YEARS. THE PEDAL FEEL STAYS SOFT FOR DAYS, SLOWLY RETURNING TO NORMAL. THE CAR WILL STILL STOP, HOWEVER, DURING THESE TIMES, JUST TO SLOW MY CAR, THE PEDAL MUST BE PUSHED ALMOST TO THE FLOOR WITH SUBSTANTIALLY MORE FORCE THAN NORMAL.

WHILE TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY WHERE THERE WAS A MANHOLE COVER WHICH CREATED A MINIMAL BUMP IN THE ROADWAY, THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WAS BARELY ABLE TO STOP AS NORMAL. SINCE THEN THE BRAKES ARE VERY SPONGY AND LOW TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKES RETURNED TO NORMAL AFTER DRIVING AGAIN BUT THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. AGAIN IT HAPPENED WHILE TURNING AND BRAKING WHILE GOING OVER A SMALL POT HOLE ENTERING A FREEWAY ONRAMP. A MECHANIC SAYS IT IS DUE TO THE HYDROLIC CONTROL UNIT.

THE CONTACT LOSS COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE BRAKE FUNCTIONALITY AND HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE BOOSTER CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,597.
ON 2/3/2017 I BOUGHT A 2008 FORD FUSION SEL,,FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP AN,ABOUT A MONTH AFTER WHILE DRIVING A LADY PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME AN WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY MY BREAKS THEY WENT ABOUT A INCH OR SO FROM THE FLOOR BOARD,WAS A VERY SCARY FEELING,THAT I PRAY NEVER HAPPEN'S AGAIN! AFTER BARELY MISSING I PUMPED THE BREAKS FOR A FEW MINUTES,THEN PEDDLE MIGHT OF BEEN ABOUT 3 TO 4 INCHES FROM THETHE FLOOR. I CALLED THE USED CAR DEALER THE NEXT MORNING TOLD HIM WHAT HAPPENED ,AN HE TRIED TO TELL ME IT JUST NEEDS NEW BREAK PADS AND BREAKS BLEED !. I REPLIED BACK TO HIM THAT BREAKS DONT GO FROM WORKING 1 MINUTE AN THE NEXT MINUTE TO THE FLOOR,AN I MENTIONED BEFORE THE PADS ARE THAT GONE I WOULD OF HEARD A METAL RUBBING SOUND,HE STILL INSISTED I TAKE IT TO HIS MECHANIC WHICH STILL PUT PADS ON AN BLEED THE BREAKS,WHICH DIDNT FIX,AFTER I CAME AN TO GET IT I ASKED IF IT WAS THE MASTER BREAK CYLINDER OR BOOSTER,AN HE REPLYED THAT HE JUST HAD TO PUT PADS ON IT AN BLEED THE BREAKS,.AN HE SUPPOSE TO BE A MECHANIC I THOUGHT TO MYSELF,AND HE SAID ITS READY TO GO,SO I DID A COUPLE BLOCKS AN THE BREAKS WERE THE SAME ,SO I WENT BACK TELLIG HIM THAT THE BREAKS ARE STILL GOING TO THE FLOOR SO HE SAYS HE ASKED TO DRIVE IT HE DID AN CAME BACK SAID ITS OK NOW,THAT I JUST NEED TO PUMP THE BREAKS ON IT BECAUSE IT HAD ABS BREAK SYSTEM THAT NEEDED PUMPED UP AWHILE.THATS WHEN I SAID LIKE IM GOING TO HAVE TIME TO PUMP BREAKS WHEN SOMEONE PULLS IN FRONT OF ME OR STOPS FAST! SO I LEFT AGAIN PRAYING THE BREAK PEDDLE WOULD STOP GOING ALLMOST TO THE FLOOR! A WEEK LATER I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN AN HE TOLD ME TAKE BACK TO HIS MECHANIC,SO I DID AN WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK CAR UP I ASKED WHAT IT WAS HE TELLS ME HE PUT A NEW BREAK BOOSTER ON IT.AN THAT JUST FIXED BREAKS ENOUGH TO HAVE A HALF OF PEDDLE ON BREAKING,ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER I WAS DRIVING IN A 35MPH ZONE HIT BUMP BREAKS WENT OUT,AND AGAIN 3 X'
TAKATA INFLATORS RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NO AIR BAGS ARE AVAILABLE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD RECEIVE THE AIRBAGS. THIS PUT MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AT RISK OF DEATH IF WE HAVE AN ACCIDENT. FORD HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO FIX THE ISSUE WITHOUT TAKATA. FORD NEEDS TO STEP UP AND SUPPORT THEIR CUSTOMERS SAFETY.

TAKATA RECALL FORD NOTIFIED ME BY LETTER IN MARCH OF 2017 OF RECALL 17V-024, IT HAS BEEN EIGHT MONTHS AND PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEFECTIVE PASSENGER AIRBAG UPON INFLATION HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RUPTURE AND SEVERELY INJURE OR KILL THE PASSENGER. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY AND MY FAMILY.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP FROM A NORMAL SPEED OF ABOUT 30 MILES PER HOUR WHEN MY BREAK PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LANE TO KEEP FROM RUNNING INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAD TO PUMP THE BREAKS SEVERAL TIMES TO COME TO A STOP. I TOOK MY CAR TO MY MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE BREAK MASTERCYLINDER BUT THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. HE DID SOME RESEARCH AND CONCLUDED THAT THE ABS MODULE IS FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER REPAIR. I CAN CURRENTLY STOP MY CAR WHILE DRIVING BUT MY BREAK PEDAL HAS TO BE PUSHED NEARLY TO THE FLOOR AND I HAVE TO BREAK FROM A SIGNIFICANTLY FURTHER DISTANCE.
BRAKES GO SOFT AFTER GETTING ABS ACTION. BRAKES WILL BE ALMOST NON FUNCTIONAL AFTER BRAKING HARD THEN TRYING TO USE THEM AGAIN. HAVE ALMOST HAD SEVERAL ACCIDENTS OVER THIS.

BRAKE PEDAL COLLAPSING BEFORE BRAKES ENGAGE. REPLACED VACUUM BOOSTER AND MASTER CYLINDER IN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR. SLIGHTLY IMPROVED BUT CONDITION STILL EXIST, DIMINISHING BRAKE EFFECTIVENESS. I RELIED ON REPUTABLE SHOP FOR THESE REPAIRS AND SPENT $700 FOR ONLY PARTIAL IMPROVEMENT. GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES A FAILURE IN THE ABS VALVING. UNKNOWN IF ABS WORKS IN THIS CONDITION. TAKATA RECALL-I WAS SENT A NOTICE IN MARCH 2017, A SECOND IN OCTOBER 2017 AND STILL THE FORD DEALERS IN MY AREA DOES NOT HAVE THE PART TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. I AM APPREHENSIVE TO HAVE ANYONE SIT IN MY FRONT SEAT OF MY CAR. WHEN WILL THE PART BE AVAILABL? THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING

IT'S NOW BEEN 8 MONTHS THAT WE HAVE BEEN DRIVING A TICKING TIME BOMB AND STILL NO CALL ON FIXING THIS DEADLY ISSUE !!I I JUST CALLED MY DEALER AGAIN AND HAVE BEEN TOLD STILL NO PARTS !!! RECALL STATES A RUPTURED INFLATOR MAY RESULT IN METAL FRAGMENTS STRIKING VEHICLE OCCUPANTS CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. CAME TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT AND BRAKES FEEL SOFT AND SPONGY. AFTER THE CAR STOPPED THE CAR STARTED GOING FORWARD WHILE THE SAME AMOUNT OF PRESSURE WAS BEING APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. HAD TO APPLY MORE PRESSURE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP MOVING. SOMETIMES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED NOW IT FEELS LIKE THEY ARE GOING TO THE FLOOR AND I HAVE TO USE MORE THAN NORMAL FORCE TO GET THEM TO STOP THE CAR IN TIME. NO LEAKS FOUND AND FLUID LEVELS LOOK GOOD.

THIS PAST WEEK MY CAR HAS BEEN DRIVING ROUGH (SPUTTERING) AND SEEMS TO NOTICE IT MORE WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY BUT THERE ARE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS YOU CAN NOTICE IT (HEAR IT AND FEEL IT) TOO. MY TIRES ARE GOOD, LAST YEAR ALREADY HAD THE PCM (MAJOR CONTROL MODULE) REPLACED ($2,700) ALONG WITH ALL THE COILS AND SPARK PLUGS, AND ALSO PCU REPLACED AND REPLACED MY HCU ($1,500). SO WHAT THE HECK MORE CAN GO WRONG WITH THIS CAR. TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS CAR NOW.
THE ANTI LOCK BREAKING SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY. WHEN THERE IS A SNOW COVERED ROAD AND NO TRACTION THE BRAKES ENGAGE AND YOU CAN FEEL THE ANTI LOCK ENGAGE HOWEVER THEY THEN HAVE A SOFT PEDAL FROM THAT POINT FORWARD.. THE ANTI LOCK SYSTEM DOES NOT GO BACK TO WORKING CORRECTLY.
TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF DEFECT IN JULY 2016 AND HAVE HAD NO FOLLOWUP
AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES IN THE RAIN AND THE ABS ACTIVATING MY BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN SOFT SINCE THEN. I HAVE HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM POWER BLED AT FORD AND SERVICED WITH NEW BRAKE FLUID, THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I REPLACED THE MASTER CYCLINDER AND THAT DIDN'T HELP. I'VE INSPECTED ALL THE CALIPERS AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING FINE. AFTER DOING RESEARCH I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO SEEN THAT YOU ALL HAVE A CURRENT INVESTIGATION AGAINST THIS CONDITION. PE 16-017. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE I CAN GET ADDED TO THIS COMPLAINT AS I BELIEVE THAT FORD HAS AN ISSUE WITH ITS HCU AND THIS IS AN UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION.
FOR AROUND 8 MONTHS, OFTEN WHILE BRAKING MY BRAKE PEDAL WILL LOSE PRESSURE AND GO ALMOST TO THE FLOOR. IT DOESN'T LOSE ALL PRESSURE BUT MAKES FOR A DIFFICULT STOP. THIS HAS CAUSED ME SEVERAL TIMES TO ALMOST REAR END OTHER CARS AND NOT BE ABLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH WHILE TAKING CORNERS. IT HAPPENS IN MOTION HIGHWAY AND CITY. MORE SO ON BUMPY ROADS OR HARDER BRAKING. MY MECHANIC, WHICH IS AT A FORD DEALER CHECKS EVERYTHING OUT FOR ME EVERY OIL CHANGE. HE STATES THAT THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND THE MASTER CYLINDER IF FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. I BELIEVE IT WAS THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT THAT HE SUGGESTED COULD BE THE ISSUE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT SIMILAR YEAR CARS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. I CONSIDER THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, I BELIEVE THE REASON I HAVEN'T HAD AN ACCIDENT IS THAT I'M USED TO THE ISSUE NOW, BUT I BELIEVE IT'S A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AN ACCIDENT HAPPENS.
WHILE DRIVING ON AN ICY STREET I HAD AN ABS EVENT WHERE THE ABS ENGAGED BUT THEN IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT VERY SOFT AS IF THERE WAS LITTLE OR NO BRAKE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES TO TEST THEM THE PEDAL NEVER REGAINED ITS PRIOR FEEL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME AND THEN TESTED IT AGAIN THE NEXT DAY. AT FIRST THE BRAKES SEEMED BACK TO NORMAL BUT AFTER PRESSING THEM HARD ENOUGH FOR THE ABS TO ENGAGE IT AGAIN LOSS PEDAL AND FELT SOFT. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED AS A RESULT BUT WE HAVE NOT DRIVEN THE CAR SINCE
THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN THE ROAD AND HIT A POT HOLE. EVER SINCE THIS SITUATION I HAVE HAD VERY SOFT BRAKES. YOU ALMOST HAVE TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO GET THE BRAKES TO FULLY ENGAGE AND STOP THE VEHICLE. BRAKES HAVE BEEN SERVICED AND WE HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THE ABS MODULE IS THE COMPONENT THAT NEEDS REPLACED. THE VALVES ARE STUCK OPEN AND FLUID IS BYPASSING WHICH IS CAUSING THE ISSUE.
