AFTER BRAKING ON ICE, THE ABS ENGAGED THEN THE BRAKES BECAME SPONGY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS SNOWING VERY BADLY AND THE SPONGINESS CONTINUED UNTIL THE CAR SAT STILL FOR HOURS AND THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE RETURNED. EIGHT MONTHS LATER ON A HOT, DRY DAY, WHILE BRAKING OVER A RAISED JOINT ON THE PAVEMENT, THE ABS ENGAGED AND THE BRAKES AGAIN BECAME SPONGY AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN. WE CAME HOME AND BLED THE BRAKES THINKING THE ACTION OF THE ABS MIGHT HAVE AGITATED THE BRAKE FLUID CAUSING BUBBLES, BUT THE FLUID WAS NOT FOAMY ONLY SMALL AMOUNTS OF AIR CAME OUT. BUT THE BRAKES TWO DAYS LATER ARE STILL SPONGY. WE LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND FORUM AFTER FORUM ON WEBSITES COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM, BUT THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, BUT OTHER FORD VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR ABS ISSUES. I AM SCARED THE BRAKES WILL FAIL WHEN I NEED THEM THE MOST. *TR
2008 FUSION SE-V6 AWD MODEL (FWD + IT HAS A DRIVE SHAFT THAT GOES TO THE REAR WHEELS FOR AWD). SEVERAL MILES BEFORE I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR THE BELOW PROBLEM THE CAR BEGAN MAKING A HOWLING/WHIRRING NOISE AT THE REAR OF THE ENGINE ONLY WHEN THE CAR WAS IN MOTION WHICH GOT LOUDER AS THE SPEED INCREASED. IMY FORD DEALER TOLD ME THE NOISE WAS BECAUSE OF A BAD DRIVESHAFT AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED ASAP AS DRIVING IT THE WAY IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR HAD JUST COME OUT THE MANUFACTURER'S 60,000 MILE WARRANTY AND I WAS NOT PLEASED TO LEARN THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1103.35 FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEALER TRIED TO GET FORD TO OK THE REPAIR UNDER MY JUST EXPIRED WARRANTY. IF THE SHAFT SUDDENLY FAILED, IT COULD CAUSE CONTROL PROBLEMS SO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE PARTICULARLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I FOUND THAT FORD WAS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND EVEN ISSUED AN INTERNAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN # TSB 08-14-1 STATING THAT THE OEM DRIVESHAFTS ON THE 2008 FORD FUSION AWD MODELS WERE NOT "KEYED" CORRECTLY WHEN MANUFACTURED AND OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL AND DISLODGE FROM THE VEHICLE. A REVISED SHAFT WAS MANUFACTURED AND SHOULD BE USED TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE SHAFTS. FORD KNEW OF THE POTENTIALLY PART FAILURE BUT RATHER THAN NOTIFY THE OWNERS OR HAVE A SAFETY RECALL, THEY CHOSE TO KEEP IT "IN-HOUSE" AND ONLY FIX IT WHEN THE OWNERS REPORTED IT. SINCE THE MOST FAILURES SEEMED TO OCCUR NEAR THE 60,000 MILE POINT (MINE WAS JUST OVER THAT), FORD CHOSE TO ADOPT A "WAIT AND SEE" ATTITUDE ON THIS PROBLEM/SAFETY ISSUE. SINCE THE SHAFT REPAIR ONE YEAR AGO, I HAVE WRITTEN TO THE DISTRICT FORD REPRESENTATIVE AND THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF FORD, ALAN [XXX] ABOUT HOW THIS WAS HANDLED BUT TO NO AVAIL. I AM SHOCKED AND DISMAYED THAT FORD WOULD TREAT ITS CUSTOMERS THIS WAY (I OWN 3 FORDS) AND THE WAY THEY HANDLED THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM THE ORIGINAL BUYER OF A 2008 FORD FUSION SE - WHICH I PURCHASED IN 2008 - IT NOW APPEARS THAT THERE IS A BULGING NEAR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AREA ON MY CAR'S DASHBOARD. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT SINCE THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY TYPE OF ACCIDENT. FORD REFUSES TO FIX SINCE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I LOOKED ON LINE AT IT APPEARS MANY OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE BULGING DASHBOARD. I AM AFRAID THIS COULD LEAD TO A DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG. FORD WILL HAVE DASHBOARD FIXED FOR OVER $1,200.00 AT MY COST. HOW IS THIS FAIR THAT I MUST PAY FOR A MANUFACTURING ISSUE THE FORD CORPORATION CREATED. CAN YOU ASSIST IN ANY MANNER. *TR
BRAKE ISSUE. SOFTENING OF HYDRAULICS OF BRAKES IN 2008 FORD FUSION SE. OCCURS WHENEVER ABS ARE ACTIVATED. NOW IT OCCURS MORE OFTEN. MAY BE CAUSE OF REAREND WRECK LISTED BELOW. BRAKES FAIL TO FULLY ENGAGE WHEN COMPRESSED UNLESS PUMPED. HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 3 TIMES OVER THE PAST YEAR. HAVE TO GET IT FIXED NEEDS RECALLED FOR SAFETY. *TR

2008 FORD FUSION SEL AWD: THE DASHBOARD COVER IS PEELING UP IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM AND IS CONTINUING TO GET WORSE AS TIME PASSES. THE VINYL COVER APPEARS TO BE DELAMINATING FROM THE FOAM RUBBER BENEATH IT AND COULD INTERFERE WITH THE PROPER DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH, WHICH PREVENTS DOOR FROM CLOSING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP, ANOTHER VEHICLE SUDDENLY CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED FORWARD AND INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES TO THE BODY. THE GRILL, HOOD AND ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WERE SEVERELY DAMAGED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ON MONDAY SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 I BEGAN TO HEAR KNOCKING FROM MY ENGINE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, I CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND IT WAS DRY. I PUT TWO QUARTS OF OIL IN IT AND THE KNOCKING PERSISTED. ON TUESDAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC TO TELL ME WHAT THE KNOCKING WAS. HE CHECKED THE DIPSTICK AND IT WAS AGAIN DRY AND TOLD ME I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT. THEY TOLD ME THE OIL DRAIN PLUG WAS ONLY HELD IN BE THREE THREADS AND THAT'S WHY THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR, THUS CAUSING THE ENGINE FAILURE. AT NO TIME DID ANY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE ON THE DASHBOARD. THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T WANT TO COVER THE REPAIR UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY SAY A "NEGLIGENT REPAIR" CAUSED THE ENGINE FAILURE. HOWEVER, NO ONE HAS AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER ALERTED ME THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM. THE REPAIR SHOP THAT CHANGED THE OIL LAST SAYS THE OIL WAS DRAINED FROM THE CAR QUICKLY, AND THERE WAS NOT A GRADUAL LEAK BECAUSE THE "BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE IS DRY." ASSUMING THIS WAS VANDALISM, NO WARNING LIGHTS EVER ILLUMINATED IN THE CAR SAYING THAT THE OIL WAS LOW OR EMPTY, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER ILLUMINATED EITHER. I'M STILL TRYING TO GET THE ENGINE REPAIR PAID FOR. *TR
PUT IN BRAND NEW MASTER CYLINDER SEPT 2013 WITH ONLY 28,119 MILES ON IT. DASHBOARD SEPARATED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. SEPT. 2013. 28, 119 MILES DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE REPLACED SEPT. 2016. 47,147 MILES DEFROSTER PANEL ON DRIVERS SIDE OF DASHBOARD SEPARATED SEPTEMBER 2016.
RIGHT SIDE DASHBOARD LIFTED UP WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. I TOOK IT TO FORD PASO ROBLES, CA THEY DIDN'T HAVE A SOLUTION TO REPAIR OTHER THEN TAKE IT TO AN UPHOLSTERY COMPANY MAYBE THEY COULD GLUE IT DOWN. DOESN'T SEEM VERY SAFE - THE AIRBAG COULD GET CAUGHT ON IT. *TR
PTU (TRANSFER CASE) IS LEAKING OUT OF VENT TUBE. BECAUSE THE PTU OIL IS NOT SERVICEABLE (NO DRAIN PLUG) THE OIL HAS DEGRADED AND TURNED INTO A THICK TAR LIKE SUBSTANCE CLOGGING UP THE UNIT. NOW UNIT MAKES WHINING NOISE DURING ACCELERATION DESTROYING THE GEARS. *TR
MY VEHICLE HAS HAD NO PREVIOUS MECHANICAL DEFECTS OR ISSUES. ON THE ABOVE LISTED DATE, MY VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTY STARTING AFTER SITTING (OFF) FOR APPROXIMATELY 12 HOURS. I BEGAN TO DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE DIED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. LATER DIAGNOSTICS REVEALED THAT THE PCM AND IGNITION COILS WERE DAMAGED. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR FORD, AS THEY HAVE ISSUED A TSB ON THE ISSUE. FORD HAS NEGLECTED TO ISSUE A RECALL OR SAFETY ADVISORY TO THEIR AFFECTED CUSTOMERS, AND IS NOW FAILING TO RECTIFY THE ISSUE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY DEFECT, AS THE VEHICLE COULD BECOME INOPERABLE WHILE OPERATING AT MODERATE TO HIGH SPEEDS, WHICH COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL. FORD IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND IS FAILING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND PROTECT ITS CONSUMERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHEN DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE BRAKES TO ENGAGE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. GLUE HOLDING VINYL AROUND PASSENGER AIRBAG IS BAD. YOU CAN SEE THE FOAM PADDING UNDERNEATH. DEALER AND LOCAL BODY SHOP WILL NOT FIX. WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT HAVE ONE PIECE VINYL ON DASHBOARD. *TR
DASHBOARD PEELING BACK IN FRONT OF PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. VERY COMMON ISSUE FOR 2006-2009 FUSIONS WHICH FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AS A SAFETY ISSUE OR OFFER REPAIR WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT COST TO OWNER. DASHBOARD PEELS BACK AND BUBBLES IN FRONT OF WHERE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYS AND MAY CAUSE INTERFERENCE WITH AIRBAG OPERATION. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT OR RESULT OF IMPROPER CARE BY OWNERS, THE PROBLEM IS TOO WIDESPREAD. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALLED ITEM OR FIX.

FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE DOES NOT WORK. IN EVENT OF EMERGENCY THE DRIVE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. *TR
BOTH FRONT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE BROKEN. *TR
DRIVER DOOR LOCK JAMS AND GETS STUCK LEAVING YOU LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IN THE EVENT OF A NEED TO DISEMBARK THE VEHICLE YOU HAVE TO POWER DOWN THE WINDOWS AND PULL THE LATCH FROM THE OUTSIDE OF SEDAN. I'VE COMPLAINED TO DEALERSHIP AND EVEN THEY ARE SURPRISED THAT FORD HAS NOT ANNOUNCED A RECALL ON A COMMON ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE WITNESSED. MANY COMPLAINT ON THE INTERNET AS WELL REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE. PLEASE HELP GET THIS RECALLED. PLEASE HELP BEFORE MORE PEOPLE ARE TRAPPED IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE DASHBOARD RIGHT BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS WARPING. THE FORD DEALER WANTS $1000 TO REPLACE IT ON A CAR THAT IS 6 YEARS OLD WHEN IT SHOULD NOT BE WARPING ALREADY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO AIRBAG POTENTIALLY NOT DEPLOYING CORRECTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 44,000.

THE DASH IS NOW CURLED UP SO MUCH THAT I FEAR THAT IT MAY INTERFERE WITH THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT, THERE ARE NO KNOWN STATEMENTS REGARDING THE FOAM VINYL SEPARATING FROM THE DASH. "TAKATA RECALL" - I PURCHASED A 2008 FORD FUSION IN 2010 WITH ONLY 19,000 MILES. DURING THE MONTH OF JULY 2013, IT WAS A VERY HOT SUMMER DAY, 90 DEGREES AND MY CAR WINDOWS WERE SHUT TIGHT. MY CAR SAT IN THE PARKING LOT DURING WORKING HOURS AT LEAST 9 HOURS. AT THIS TIME, I HAD 33,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND MY FIRST FORD VEHICLE PURCHASED. I ENTERED INSIDE, I NOTICED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE THE AIR BAG HAD POPPED UP ALONG THE PERIMETER. I WAS ABLE TO SEE THE FOAM MATERIAL UNDERNEATH THE AIRBAG. IMMEDIATELY, I WAS CONCERNED AND NOTIFIED THE HQ FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I REQUEST TO BE TRANSFERRED TO THE RECALL DEPARTMENT. I ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY COMPLAINTS OR RECALLS ON THE FORD FUSION FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. HER RESPONSE WAS "NO". I INFORMED HER OF THE OCCURRENCE IN DETAIL AND FELT ACTION MUST BE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY. I REQUESTED TO PLEASE NOTE THIS IN FILE FOR ANY FUTURE CALLS. I HAD OFFERED TO SEND A PICTURE OF IT BUT I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. I POLITELY ASKED WHAT MY OPTIONS WERE AND WHAT STEPS ARE NEEDED. SHE REPLIED, IT WAS NOT FORD'S RESPONSIBILITY AND RECOMMEND I DRIVE MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. I EXPRESSED HOW IMPERATIVE IT WAS TO FORWARD THIS INFORMATION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, EXPLAINED THE SAFETY ISSUE AND IT MUST BE TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, THE COST WOULD BE $2,500.00 OUT OF MY POCKET. I WAS SHOCKED! I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP UNHAPPY AND DISAPPOINTED. IT IS NOW 2016, I HAVE 72,000 ON MY VEHICLE, THE PROBLEM REMAINS THE SAME. IT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED, I REFUSE TO PAY. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE IN THE MAIL. I AM VERY DISTURBED BY THIS. TAKING OFF ON COMING INTO OUR GARAGE CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. VERY HARD TO SLAM ON BRAKES. ALMOST HIT HOUSE. VERY NERVOUS AND WORRIED. NEED TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. *TR

WE PURCHASED THE USED CAR FOR OUR 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AT THE END OF DECEMBER 2012. OVER THE FIRST YEAR OF PURCHASE, WE NOTICED THAT THE DASHBOARD STARTED TO LIFT UP AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. WE CHECKED WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR A FIX FOR IT AND THEY SAID NO. HE SAID THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT IS DEFECTIVE - VERY EXPENSIVE. I WAS MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYING, BUT AGAIN HE SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. JULY 2016 I SAW SOME OTHER FORD FUSION OWNERS HAD COMPLAINED ABOUT THEIR DASHBOARDS AS WELL, SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT TOO BECAUSE IT IS SUCH A STRANGE DEFECT.
PASSENGER AIRBAG IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY BUT IT WILL COST ME OVER $1,500.00 TO DO IT. I NOTICED THE DASH BOARD AROUND THE AIRBAG IS SEPARATING ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I TRIED TO PUSH THE SEAM BACK DOWN BUT IT STILL PUCKERS. YESTERDAY I TRIED TO START MY CAR AND THERE WAS A CONTINUOUS CLICKING SOUND COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AND THE SECURITY LOCK LIGHT AND AIRBAG LIGHT WERE FLASHING VERY FAST. I JUST PARKED THE CAR ABOUT 1 HOUR BEFORE AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS UNTIL I CAME BACK TO START IT. I TRIED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR BUT COULD NOT GET IT STARTED. I HAVE NOTICED THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR AND THE SAME ISSUES. THIS DOES SEEM LIKE A RECALL ISSUE. 1. ENGINE STARTED RUNNING POORLY AT STARTUP AFTER WORK. 2. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. 3.MADE IT HOME WITH NOT MUCH POWER AVAILABLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CONSTANT NOW. 4. NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. 5.TOOK IT TO A SHOP TO CHECK THE NEXT DAY. THEY REPLACED ONE OF THE REAR PLUG PACKS. IT HAD BURNED UP. 6. THEY SAID TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER FOR A COMPLETE FIX. CAR STILL RUNNING POORLY. 7. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY. 6/13/2103. THEY SAID THE PLUG PACK BURNED UP AGAIN AND I WOULD NEED THAT REPLACED AGAIN PLUS A NEW COMPUTER WHICH BURNED UP THE PLUG PACK. 8. THEY SAID THE NEXT DAY THAT THE PARTS WERE ON BACK-ORDER AND IT WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS. 9. THE PARTS ARE STILL ON BACK ORDER. (ALMOST A MONTH NOW). CAR STILL AT THE DEALER. 1ST INCIDENT - BRAKING, ENTERING EXIT RAMP - HIT POT HOLE. BRAKES WENT SOFT. HAD TO PUSH TO FLOOR IN ORDER TO SLOW THE CAR. BRAKES CONTINUED TO BE SOFT ON DRIVE. VERY UNSAFE. WHEN DESTINATION WAS REACHED I TURNED THE CAR ON AND OFF THREE TIMES WHILE PUMPING THE BRAKES (WHILE OFF AND WHILE ON). AFTER LETTING THE CAR SET FOR A WHILE THE BRAKES RESET. 2ND INCIDENT - SNOWY, ICY. GOING LESS THAN 40 MPH BRAKING FOR STOP SIGN. ABS ENGAGED, BRAKES WHEN SOFT AND COULDN'T GET CAR SLOWED. DROVE FOR 2 MILES AND PULLED OFF. TURNED CAR ON AND OFF TWICE WHILE PUMPING BRAKES (WHILE OFF AND WHILE ON). COULD NOT GET BRAKES TO RESET. DROVE HOME AND HAVE IT OFF TO SEE IF MORE TIME ALL ALLOW IT TO RESET. BOTH INCIDENTS I WAS NEARLY IN VERY BAD ACCIDENTS. THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS COME AWAY FROM THE SEAM AND IS BUBBELING. NOW THEIR IS A POWDER SUBSTANCE THAT'S BROWN THAT IS COMING OUT OF THEIR AS IF THE BALLOON IS DRYING UP. ALAMOGORDO IS A HOT AREA WHERE TEMPS RANGE FROM 90-100 DEGREES. THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND NOTHING HAS HIT THE DASHBOARD TO CAUSE IT TO BUBBLE OR THE SEEMS COME ATTACHED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUTTER. THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE DIED. AT A VERY SLOW RATE OF SPEED WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY ON TO A RAMP. THE CAR WAS NO LONGER FUNCTIONAL AND WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THE PCM, SIX IGNITION COILS AND SPARK PLUGS ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD NOTICED A FEW WEEKS AGO MY PASSENGER AIR BAG COVER IS STARTING TO SEPARATE FROM IT'S ADHESIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND ANY PASSENGER THAT SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. THIS HAS GOT WORSE OVER TIME AND I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ROUGHLY A LITTLE UNDER A YEAR AGO. AT THAT TIME THE CAR WAS NOT IN THAT CONDITION. NO ONE SITS WITH THEIR FEET ON THE DASH AND I HAVE A VISOR. PURCHASED THE CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER'S 16TH BIRTHDAY. I BELIEVE IT ONLY HAD 20,000 MILES ON IT. SHE HAD IF FOR 2 YEARS AND HAS ALWAYS THOUGHT THE CAR RAN A LITTLE "SLUGGISH". IN APRIL, 2013 THE CAR BEGAN TO DECELERATE WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS, AND WOULD NOT SHIFT PROPERLY. BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD DEALER WE PURCHASED IT FROM, WHO TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION WAS GONE AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE WERE EVEN TOLD THAT THESE PARTICULAR CARS "WERE NOT MEANT TO LAST" AND THAT "MOST PEOPLE TRADED THESE CARS IN AFTER ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS." WE ALSO CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY WHO REFUSED TO HELP US OUT WITH ANY PORTION OF THE DEFECT. WE INSTALLED A BRAND NEW FORD TRANSMISSION FOR $1,400 AND NOW, ONLY 3 MONTHS LATER WE ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. ALSO, WITHIN A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THE DOOR HANDLES STARTED TO PEEL AND MY DAUGHTER AND HER PASSENGERS HAVE CUT THEMSELVES. *TR
BUCKLING, DISTORTION AND OR WARPING OF DASH PANEL IN FRONT OF PASSENGER AIRBAG APERTURE. THERE IS CONCERN THAT THIS DISTORTION WILL NEGATIVELY IMPACT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSING INJURY TO RIGHT FRONT SEAT OCCUPANT. THIS SEEMS INHERENT IN MOST OF THIS MODEL. WILL ALSO REDUCE RESALE VALVE.
