TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. IN APPROXIMATELY AUGUST OF 2018, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BATTLEFIELD FORD CULPEPER (10463 JAMES MONROE HWY, CULPEPER, VA 22701) WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INFLATOR WAS REPLACED. WHEN THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE EDGE AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS NOT EVEN WITH THE REST OF THE DASHBOARD. CURRENTLY, A YEAR LATER, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG COULD BE SEEN BECAUSE THE COVER DETACHED AROUND THE EDGE OF THE DASHBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE PER THE UNKNOWN AIR BAG RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AT 4 WAY STOP SIGN AND WHEN STEPPED ON GAS NOTHING, WOULDN'T GO FORWARD OR REVERSE. AS LONG AS CAR WAS RUNNING COULDN'T GET INTO PARK. WHILE IN DRIVE OR LOW GEAR A GRINDING NOISE WAS UNDERNEATH THE CAR. HAD GOOD TRANSMISSION FLUID AND WAS WHERE IT SUPPOSE TO BE ON DIP STICK. THIS IS A 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION AND FOUND OUT FROM OUR MECHANIC THE FORD HAS HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS PARTICULAR TRANSMISSION AND DO NOT MAKE THEM ANYMORE.
WHEN YOU PRESS THE PETAL, YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO MAKE THE BRAKES WORK. THE CALIPERS ARE WORKING CORRECTLY AND BLEEDING THE BRAKES DOESN'T FIX IT. NEW BRAKE PADS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THIS BEGAN ONCE THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ENGAGED AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM WON'T WORK. ALL OF THE WHEELS WILL LOCK UP WHEN THERE IS A SUDDEN STOP AT MODERATE SPEED (40 MPH WITH FULL BRAKING).

SEMINOLE TRAIL, MADISON, VA 22727, (540) 948-6806) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND ABS UNIT, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A BRAKE FLUSH, REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. 08 FUSION KEEPS HAVING LEAKS AND POPPING CV ANAXE NOW ITS POURING POWER STEERING FLUID AGAIN WHEN IN GEAR
BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK CAUSING 2000 IN BODILY DAMAGE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE, AS WELL AS DAMAGE TO MY 2008 FORD FUSION . THE FORD FUSION WAS TRAVELING AT A RATE OF LESS THAN 5 MILES AN HOUR AND THE VEHICLE THAT WAS HIT WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT . I PAID OUT OF POCKET. IN THE SEVEN TO EIGHT YEARS I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE I'VE HAD TWO RECALLS . THE FIRST WAS THE AIRBAG. THAT TOOK FORD YEARS TO REPLACE AFTER THE INITIAL LETTER WENT OUT 2015. JUST THIS PAST SUMMER OF 2019, THEY FINALLY REPLACED IT. THE BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS BEEN SPONGY , ALSO THE ACCELERATION HAS STUCK TWICE , WITH THE PEDAL GOING ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO POP OUT BUT IT WAS VERY SCARY . I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND A FORD TO ANYONE .
CAR HAS INTERMITTENTLY SOFT OR SPONGY FEELING TO THE BRAKE PEDAL DURING WHAT SEEMS LIKE NO SPECIFIC REASON. MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND ISSUE CONTINUES. BLEEDING THE BRAKES DOESN'T CAUSE ANY CHANGE AND PUMPING THE BRAKES ONLY RESULTS IN MODERATE RETURN OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM.
The contact owns a 2008 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while attempting the stop the vehicle, the brake pedal was depressed and extended to the floor and the vehicle would not immediately stop. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19V904000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage 40,000. The contact received notice that the part was available however, there was no part at the dealer. Parts distribution disconnect.
WHILE HITTING A POTHOLE OR DRIVING ON A WET SURFACE AND USING THE BRAKES THE BRAKES LOCK UP AND THE CAR SLIDES BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. AFTER THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKES ARE VERY SPONGY AND GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN BEING PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I NEED TO SWERVE AROUND OTHER VEHICLES TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ABS.
THE CAR HAS HAD A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FAILURE OF THE BREAK SYSTEM. THE BREAK PEDAL DEPRESSES ALL THE WAY UNTIL IT CONTACTS THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE BARELY COMES TO A STOP. EVER SINCE IT HAS FIRST HAPPENED, IT HAS NOT RETURNED TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE. THE FIRS TIME IT HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ABOUT 30MPH IN THE CITY.
HEADING TO WORK, I ENCOUNTERED A HARD BRAKING EVENT WHICH THE ABS REACTED TO, CAR WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT FOR ALL SUBSEQUENT BRAKING, AND NOT ABLE TO STOP THE CAR IN A SATISFACTORY DISTANCE!! I TURNED AROUND AND HEADED HOME AT A SLOW RATE OF SPEED BUT HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PROVIDE ADDED STOPPING ABILITY. CAR WAS PARKED (AFTER TRYING TO PUMP UP PEDAL IN DRIVEWAY) FOR THE DAY, WHEN I RETURNED HOME, THERE WERE NO CODES IN A STD. CODE DETECTOR AND NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF FLUID LEAKS UNDER CAR OR AT WHEELS AND FLUID LEVEL SEEMED APPROPRIATE. CAR HAS ABOUT 95000 MILES ON IT. TOOK CAR FOR A RIDE AFTER WORK TO PLAN MY NEXT DAYS TROUBLESHOOTING AND ALL SEEMS NORMAL?! ON LINE SEARCH FOUND MANY SIMILAR REPORTS.
DASHBOARD AROUND THE AIRBAG AND DEFROSTING AGENT IS BULGING AND COMING APART. I FEEL THAT THIS WOULD BE A MALFUNCTION IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO BE DEPLOYED CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.

The vehicle brakes will engage at random intervals without the brake pedal being touched. This happens at all speeds, and even at a stop. Issue still occurs daily, and has been ongoing for 5+ years. Brake master cylinder and aux boost pump have been replaced twice with OEM parts, and three complete brake jobs (pads, calipers and rotors) in the last 5 years. At slower speeds, it manifests as a drag to forward motion. At higher speeds, the drag is more pronounced, and causes the car to decelerate. It has also caused the tires to "hop" during travel, causing loss of vehicle control. Luckily, no accidents so far. I am aware of the recall for the HCU (ABS Module) for this vehicle, but four different Ford dealerships have declined to examine closer, citing recall 19S54 as a "customer experience" issue, not a safety issue. The brake fluid replacement (DOT3 to DOT4) has been done, but dealer declined to examine or replace the HCU, citing "out of warranty".
My brake pedal drops to the floor when braking at times. Mechanics say that is my ABS module. I believe this is a very common issue with these vehicles. This has happened to me several times. Only remedy without repair is disengaging the ABS system all together. There has not been a recall on this but there has been a customer satisfaction program associated with the brake system. I tried to have mine fixed and Ford says the program has expired. I feel like braking is the most important thing you need to be on the road. This needs to be a full recall and not a satisfaction program. Thank you
MY BRAKE PETAL HAS BECOME SPONGY AND I HAVE TO PRESS IT ALMOST ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IN ORDER TO GET IT TO STOP.
DRIVING ALONG THE FREEWAY I HAD TO BRAKE SUDDENLY AND THE ABS SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO DROP TO THE FLOOR. REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE CAR IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. THE ABS VALVE REPLACEMENT IS $1,200. AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT. BASED ON RESEARCH THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR FORD AND LINCOLN. I'VE HAD TO PART THE VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROPER FIX.
SLIGHT RAIN, 35 MPH, HIT BRAKES TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM CLIFTON ROAD TO DAVIS FORD RD. BRAKE FAILED, I COULD NOT MAKE IT ONTO EITHER MY NEW ROAD NOR REMAIN IN MY OLD ROAD. I MANAGED TO DRIVE BETWEEN THE OPEN GATES OF A CEMETERY AT THE INTERSECTION. THE VERY ROUGH TERRAIN (MASSIVE POTHOLE AND CLAY/GRAVEL SURFACE HELPED ME SLOW. I DID HAVE SOME BREAKING POWER AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF MY PEDAL'S REACH, BUT I HAD NO RESPONSE WHERE MY BRAKES HAD BEEN WORKING BEFORE. I HAVE SINCE READ THAT BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO ABS MALFUNCTION IN COMMON FOR THIS MODEL. PEOPLE CAN DIE AT 35 MPH, I AM EXTREMELY LUCKY I HAD SOME PLACE TO GO THAT DID NOT INVOLVE ONE OF THE TWO LIGHT POLES, A GATE POST, OR A DITCH.
HYDRAULIC CONTROL MY ABS SYSTEM HAS NOT BEEN WORKING CORRECTLY SINCE PURCHASE OF MY FORD FUSION BACK IN NOVEMBER 2015. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE HALDEMAN FORD DEALERSHIP IN TRENTON NJ ON ROUTE 33 MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE THEY EITHER DID NOT LOOK AT HE PROBLEM, DOCUMENT IT OR REPLACED THE SAME PART(S) OVER AND OVER AGAIN. UNTIL THE WARRANTY RAN OUT 96000 MILES. THEN THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM ACCURATELY AT 97798 MILES AND REQUEST $1500 FOR REPAIRS. SINCE THE CAR WAS DERIVABLE AT THE TIME AND THEIR SERVICE WAS NOT TO BE TRUSTED ANY MORE I DECLINED SERVICE AND DROVE IT UNTIL THE BREAKS HIT THE FLOOR, LITERALLY. AROUND 120000 MILES I WAS TAKING MY KIDS TO AN AMUSEMENT PARK AND THE BREAKS STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER LANDING MYSELF, AND MY TWO CHILDREN AGES SIX (6) AND TWO (2) IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. LUCKILY NOBODY WAS HURT, BUT NOW THE HALDEMAN FORD DEALERSHIP IN TRENTON NJ ON ROUTE 33 HAS MY CAR UNTIL IT IS FIXED. THEY REFUSE TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BUT CONTINUE TO TELL ME TO CALL FORD CORPORATE. FORD CORPORATE TELLS ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP AS THEY ARE ALL INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND THEY CANNOT ASSIST. PLEASE START A RECALL ON THIS KNOWN ISSUE, A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH WILL PULL UP MANY RESULTS, AS SO I CAN KEEP MY CHILDREN SAFE AND WITH A FATHER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
AFTER APPLYING MY BRAKES ON A CLOSE CALL MY BREAK PEDAL NO GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. TAKES A LONG DISTANCE TO STOP. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT FIXED AND APPARENTLY THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND HYDRAULIC BRAKE CONTROLLER WILL NOT RE-ENGAGE! FORD WANTS CLOSE TO $2000 FOR A REPLACEMENT. AFTER RESEARCH I BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY FACTORY ABS CONTROL UNIT
MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE. THRU EXTENSIVE RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE ON THE FUSIONS YEARS 2007- 2012 MODELS. IT SEEMS TO BE THAT A CRACK FORMS IN THE HANDLE CAUSING THE CABLE TO COME OUT OF PLACE. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY.

I'VE TAKEN IT TO FORD SERVICE AND THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM, THEY GAVE ME LIST OF REPAIRS. RECENTLY, A MECHANIC ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT BUT STILL DIDN'T FIX THE SPONGY/SOFT BRAKE PETAL. SEE ATTACHMENTS OF REPAIRS AND FORD SERVICE'S EXPLANATION. PLEASE DO A RECALL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE NOW.
AFTER THE RECALL OF THE AIR BAG. I NEVER HAD THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH ON. AFTER THE DEALER FIX MY AIR BAG IT WOULD TURN AND OFF MOST OF THE TIME BUT AFTER TAKING THE CAR BACK TO GET IT CHECK THE LIGHT WAS NOT ON THE DASH BUT AFTER A FEW MONTH THE LIGHT IS ON NOW AND IT WON'T TURN OFF THE DEALER SHIP WANT TO CHARGE ME TO FIX THE PROBLEM NOW IT'S ON ALL THE TIME EVEN IF I'M STOP OR MOVING ON THE FREEWAY. *TR

BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AFTER ABS SYSTEM TRIGGERS, BRAKES GET EXTREMELY SOFT AND TAKE WEEKS TO RETURN TO NORMAL USUALLY AFTER HAVING TO FORCE A HARD STOP.

THE BRAKE PEDAL GOES MOST OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH 90 PERCENT LOSS OF BRAKE PRESSURE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO TAKE A LONGER AMOUNT OF TIME TO STOP WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES ON SLIPPERY ROADS OR WHEN DRIVING ON BUMPY ROAD CONDITIONS. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY FOR OVER A YEAR. THE LAST INCIDENT WAS 02/26/2019 AND ALMOST DISABLED THE VEHICLE WITH ITS SEVERITY.
HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT CAUSING SOFT BRAKE PEDAL AFTER AN ANTI-SKID EVENT. BRAKING IS DELAYED AND PEDAL TRAVELS IS ALMOST TO FLOOR.
THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT FOR THE BRAKES IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THIS OCCURRED AFTER THE VEHICLE TIRES SPUN SLIGHTLY IN ABOUT 1/2-1 INCH OF SNOW WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT ONTO A PAVED CITY STREET TRIGGERING THE ASB. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE A GARAGE FOR A WEEK BEFORE BEING DRIVEN AGAIN AND THE BRAKING PROBLEM DISCOVERED. NOW WHEN YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP, IT FADES DOWN BEFORE COMING TO A HARD STOP AND THE VEHICLE TAKES A GREATER DISTANCE TO STOP. THERE IS GREAT CONCERN THAT THE BRAKES WILL FAIL COMPLETELY, CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED AS A SAFETY RECALL.
UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN IN ORDER TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND BRAKING WAS VERY SLOW/SOFT. IT DID NOT RECOVER AFTER STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR. WAS ABLE TO GET TO MY MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED A FAILED ABS HYDRAULIC PUMP CONTROL UNIT.
BRAKE PEDAL GETS "SOFT" AND REQUIRES SIGNIFICANTLY MORE TRAVEL TO ACTIVATE BRAKES. ESPECIALLY IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. AT LEAST 2 ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED BECAUSE OF THIS. FURTHERMORE WE HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO A DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY BUT THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD EXTEND TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE BRAKING DISTANCE TO BE EXTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER APPLE FORD (8800 STANFORD BLVD, COLUMBIA) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT ABS VALVE IN THE BRAKE CONTROL UNIT WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON SLICK ROADS, DURING A BRAKING EVENT THE ANTILOCK BRAKES ACTIVATED. AFTER THAT FOR THE NEXT TWO HOURS, WHILE DRIVING IN VERY SLICK CONDITIONS, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED IT BASICALLY WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE PEDAL HAD TO BE PUMPED TO GET THE BRAKES TO WORK. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS.

TAKATA RECALL, I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL NOTICES ABOUT THE TAKATA RECALL BUT HAVE YET TO RECEIVE NOTICE THAT MY AIRBAG CAN BE REPLACED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR WHERE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A CAR THAT IS POTENTIALLY UNSAFE IF I GET IN AN ACCIDENT.
ABS BRAKE CONTROLLER: AFTER ABS WAS ACTIVATED ON A SLIPPERY STOP, ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY AT STARTUP AND WHILE DRIVING. ABS AND/OR TRACTION CONTROL OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY DURING NORMAL DRY STOPS. THE BEHAVIOR IS CONSISTENT WITH THE DESCRIPTIONS ON THE NHTSA SITE OF CARS WITH FOULED ABS CONTROLLER VALVES. TURNING OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM SEEMS TO DECREASE THE FREQUENCY THAT ABS GETS ACTIVATED DURING NORMAL STOPS.
WHEN DRIVING OVER ROUGH ROAD OR WHEN ITS RAINING AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR. IT SEEMS AS WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES IT CAUSES THE BRAKE SYSTEM TO LOSE STOPPING POWER. AFTER AWHILE THE BRAKES SEEM TO RESET. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO NUMEROUS MECHANICS AND THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AN INTERNET SEARCH, WHICH I'M SURE YOU'RE AWARE OF, HAS DOCUMENTED NUMEROUS CASES OF THIS POSSIBLE ABS PUMP FAILURE. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING EVENT FOR THE PAST YEAR.
HELLO NHTSA, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR NORMALLY AS ANY DRIVER AND I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE FOR A STOP SIGN AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKES GO DOWN ON THE GROUND AND ARE NOT WORKING. WHILE TURNING ONTO CTY STREET THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED QUICKLY CAUSING ME TO SLAM ON MY BRAKES. THE NEXT STOP SIGN I CAME TO THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR. MY SON DROVE THE CAR THE NEXT DAY AND SAID HE ALMOST WENT INTO AN INTERSECTION BECAUSE THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR EVEN AFTER PUMPING THEM. THE BRAKES ARE NEW THE MASTER CYLINDER IS FULL OF FLUID. FORD MUST RECALL THESE VEHICALS IMMEDIATLEY, IF A DEATH IS CAUSED BY CONTINUED DELAY YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. ACT NOW
TAKATA RECALL. MY PASSENGER SIDE HAS A LUMP FORMING UNDER THE AIR BAG. I ALSO GOT A LETTER SAYING THAT MY CAR WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
