POWER STEERING WILL STOP WORKING WHILE DRIVING. I READ OR SAW THAT OTHER YEARS HAD BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT THE 2010 MODEL.
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2010 FORD FUSION DOWN A COUNTRY ROAD AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THANK GOODNESS HE WASN'T ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65!! WARNINGS CAME ON FOR POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND ADVANCE TRACK. WE DROVE WITH MANUAL STEERING TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY LOOKED IT OVER AND NOW IT IS GOING TO COST US CLOSE TO $2000 TO FIX. I UNDERSTAND THAT FORD RECALLED OTHER YEARS OF FUSIONS FOR THE POWER STEERING FAILURE BUT NOT THE 2010 EVEN THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS AND ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.7/24/2019
TAKATA INFLATORS: MY VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN FOR 6 MONTHS AS PART OF THE RECALL. I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL WHILE WAITING FOR PARTS, BUT SINCE HAVING THE RECALL PARTS INSTALLED MY VEHICLE HAS STARTED HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS. WHEN DRIVING THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR. IT FEELS LIKE THE BRAKES WILL NOT HOLD PRESSURE. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS CHANGED AFTER IT SAT FOR 6 MONTHS.
I WAS DRIVING 70 MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR JUST QUIT RUNNING. A FEW WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY; THE CAR QUICKLY DIED AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME AND WAS UNABLE TO START THE CAR AGAIN SINCE THE ANTI-THEFT LOCK LIGHT WAS ON. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM.
FORD FUSION POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INFORMATION SCREEN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND REPAIR HAS BEEN ESTIMATED TO BE ABOUT $1400. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2011 AND LATER FUSIONS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE SAME EQUIPMENT AND PROBLEM ON THE 2010 FUSION.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST BUT LAST TIME I STARTED MY CAR A WEEK AGO THE ERROR PERSISTS AND MY CAR NOW HAS NO POWER-STEERING CAPABILITIES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING RACKS SHORTING OUT. I SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FINANCIALLY TO FOR THIS REPAIR AS 2011 FUSION TO 2013 WE RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS THE SAME ENGINE SO THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. LUCKILY I WASN'T DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED THUS CAUSING AN ACCIDENT!

WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WITHOUT WARNING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THIS DECREASED ITS MOBILITY PLACING ITS OCCUPANTS AT A HIGH RISK.
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABRUPTLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DROVE HOME WITH DIFFICULTY. THE CONTACT CALLED GORDIE BOUCHER FORD LINCOLN OF JANESVILLE (2727 US-14, JANESVILLE, WI 53545, (608) 754-5511) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS IN RELATION TO THE POWER STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY HOLMES TUTTLE FORD (660 W AUTO MALL DR, TUCSON, AZ 85705, (866) 999-1384) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTOR WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,863.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG TO FOR AT KARL FLAMMER FORD IN TARPON SPRINGS FL. I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK WITH BOLTS ON THE FLOOR AND THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT NOT WORKING THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO THE DEALER I THEN RECEIVED IT BACK DENTS IN DINGS ON THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE FORD HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INCLUDING CHECKING THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT NOT WORKING THE VEHICLE WENT BACK INTO THE DEALER I THEN RECEIVED IT BACK DENTS IN DINGS ON THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE FORD HAS REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS INCLUDING CHECKING THE AIRBAG. TRYING TO SEE WHAT TO DO TO GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED BECAUSE IN MY EYES THIS AIRBAG JUST NOT WORK THE SEAT WAS NEVER CALIBRATED FOR THE AIRBAG.
POWER STEERING FAILS AND WARNING MESSAGE APPEARS FOR BOTH POWER STEERING FAILURE AND ADVANCE TRACK FAILURE. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND OFTEN, BUT NOT ALWAYS, RESOLVES AFTER SHUTTING CAR OFF, WAITING A MINUTE AND RESTARTING. CAR STILL RUNS BUT HAS NOW POWER STEERING AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
REVERSING MY CAR OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE CAR WOULD NOT BRAKE. LOST ALL BRAKES IN THE CAR. PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE I ALWAYS THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD VERY LOW BRAKES. I'D HAVE TO PRESS THE BREAK VERY LOW TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. WHEN I LOST THE BRAKES I'M THE CAR I INITIALLY THOUGHT THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO BAD CALIPERS AND ROTORS. AFTER REPLACING ALL CALIPERS UNDER WARRANTY AND BLEEDING THAT WAS NOT THE ISSUE. TOWED THE CAR TO TORRINGTON FORD AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED AS NEEDING A MASTER CYLINDER FIRST WHICH MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEN A POSSIBLE HCU REPLACEMENT OF THE MASTER CYLINDER DOESN'T CORRECT HE BRAKE ISSUE. *LN*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND ASKED A BYSTANDER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE BYSTANDER OPENED THE HOOD AND DEPRESSED THE MANUAL RESTART BUTTON, WHICH ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO RESTART AND RETURN TO NORMAL; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE CONTACT'S INSURANCE COMPANY TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. SOUTH BAY FORD (5100 ROSECRANS AVE, HAWTHORNE, CA 90250, (310) 584-7641) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I HIT A POTHOLE. THE BRAKES FELT LOOSE/SPONGY, AND I HAD TO PRESS DOWN ALL THE WAY FOR THE BRAKES TO WORK. I PUMPED THEM A FEW TIMES, AND IT SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT WAS RAINING A BIT THE OTHER DAY. I TURNED, AND BRAKES A LITTLE AND FELT THE ABS KICK IN. AFTER THAT, I WAS COMING TO A STOP LIGHT. I BEGAN TO BRAKE, BUT HAD TO PRESS DOWN ABOUT HALFWAY TO EVEN BEGIN BRAKING, AND ALL THE WAY TO BRAKE COMPLETELY. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED SINCE THEN, EVEN WITHOUT RAIN
I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD AT 50 MPH AND WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET THE STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A FAMILY MEMBERS DRIVE WAY AND THAT IS AS FAR AS I HAD GOTTEN. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOED 45 MILES BACK TO MY HOUSE TO GET IT SERVICED. THIS HAPPENED ON A SATURDAY WHILE I WAS VISITING FAMILY. THERE WAS MY WIFE,GRANDDAUGHTER AND MYSELF IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I HAD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE IS NOT ON MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE. THERE ARE RECALLS OUT FOR THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THE DEALER SAID THIS IS VEHICLE SPECIFIC RECALLS. I DO NOT UNDER STAND WHY THIS ISSUE IS ONLY RELATED TO SPECIFIC VEHICLE WHEN THE SAME ISSUE SHOWS UP IN THE SAME CAR AS THE RECALLED CARS? I HAVE UPLOADED THE RECEIPT FOR THE REPAIR.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE OR STREET CAR ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON CAR GOES INTO LIMP MODE CLOSE TO GETTING HIT
THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING GEAR BOX HAS FAILED OVER 3 TIMES FOR MY VEHICLE. AS IN THE LAST 5 MONTHS. I EVEN HAD TO GET NEW PARTS. IT COST ME TOO MUCH MONEY AND I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE DISHING OUT $1440 FOR A GEAR BOX PLUS LABOR BECAUSE OF A RECALL THAT COULD HELP BUT YOU GUYS DON'T WANNA DO IT BECAUSE THEN IT WILL COST YOU MORE MONEY. SHOULDN'T HAVE PUT OUT A CAR THAT WAS IN THE GUINEA PIG STAGES WITHOUT A BACK UP. IT'S [XXX]. TWICE I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT FAILED. ONE HIGH WAY AND THE OTHER DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET GOING 25. AND THE OTHER I JUST TURNED MY CAR ON AND IT FAILED. THEN IT SAT IN THE GARAGE FOR 4 MONTHS BEFORE IT COULD GET FIXED BECAUSE THE PART KEPT FAILING. I STARTED MY ENGINE IN MY 2010 FORD FUSION, AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING DISPLAYED BY MY CAR GAUGES. THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED UP AND WILL NOT TURN. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A CITY STREET WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THANKFUL THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED BY FORD IMMEDIATELY.
FUEL SMELL WHILE DRIVING, AND ALSO WHEN FILLING GAS IT WILL NOT SHOW THAT IT IS FULL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING WHEEL SEIZED IN THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ALL AMERICAN FORD OF OLD BRIDGE (3698 U.S. 9, OLD BRIDGE, NJ 08857, (732) 242-0404); HOWEVER, AFTER FOUR DAYS, THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS SUBSEQUENTLY TOWED FROM THE DEALER TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE OF $1,400 FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE TIE RODS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND AN ALIGNMENT WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT UNEXPECTEDLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH NO INDICATION.
1ST INCIDENT WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN I APPLIED MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR I PUMPED THE PEDAL AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW MY VEHICLE TO MAKE THE TURN. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE TRYING TO COME TO A STOP ON A SLIGHT INCLINE TO PARK AGAIN I APPLIED BRAKES AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP. SECOND INCIDENT 2 WEEKS AFTER THE 1ST WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION I APPLIED BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP BUT INSTANTLY LOST PRESSURE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING INTO THE INTERSECTION AND I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO BE ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING SPORADICALLY. IVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES & HAS COST OVER $1,000 TO POSSIBLY CORRECT THE SITUATION.
WHILE DRIVING HOME THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. MY WIFE BARELY MADE IT TO IN FRONT OF OUR HOUSE WITHOUT CRASHING. THANK GOODNESS THIS WAS WITHIN CITY STREETS AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. I AM ALSO A REGISTERED LYFT DRIVER AND CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THE RESULT COULD HAVE BEEN IF THE STEERING HAD FAILED DURING MY WORKING FOR LYFT AND DRIVING INNOCENT PASSENGERS. I TURNED IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER HAVING THE AIRBAG RECALL TAKEN CARE OF, THEY CHECKED THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM. INFORMED ME THAT A GEAR HAD DISINTEGRATED IN THE MOTOR AND THE ENTIRE MECHANISM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $2200.00. IN READING ABOUT THE OMISSION OF 2010 VEHICLES AS PART OF FORD'S RECALL, I THINK IT IS OBVIOUS THEY KNOW OF AN EXTENSIVE FAILURE IN CARS BETWEEN 2008 - 2012 THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO FIX, EVEN WHEN IT MAY RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.
UNEXPECTED INCREASE OF BRAKING DISTANCE. WHEN DOING A K TURN, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO STOP BUT THE CAR CONTINUE TO ROLLS WHEN BRAKE IS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR. THIS CAUSED ME TO ROLL INTO A CURB. THIS HAPPENS REGULARLY BUT INCONSISTENTLY. THE CAR WAS GOING LESS THEN 5 MILES AN HOUR AND TOOK MORE THEN 5 FEET TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITH THE PEDAL PRESSED ALL THE WAY.
THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE , DRIVING HOME FROM ALL MY LIGHTS COME ON AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC LIGHTS UP , ALL GAUGES QUIT WORKING ( SPEEDOMETER , TACH , TEMP , GAS ) BUT ENGINE NEVER DIES OR HESITATES , ONCE HOME AND SHUT CAR OFF , IT WILL GO INTO AUTO THEIFT MODE WITH THE RAPID BLINKING LIGHT AND WILL NOT START!!! FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN I WAS ABLE TO DRAIN THE BATTERY SYSTEM AND GET IT STARTED AND TO A FORD DEALERSHIP , BEING THAT IT HAS TO BE SCANNED CAUSE OF THE NO COMMUNICATION WITH THE FORD IDS SOFTWARE WHICH I DO NOT HAVE!!! THEY HAD IT FOR A FEW DAYS AND CHECKED ALL MODULES AND CONNECTORS AND FOUND NO ISSUES BUT PROBLEM WAS GONE AND NO STORED CODES!!! PICKED CAR UP AND 2 DAYS LATER ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK SAME ISSUE , ALL DASH LIGHTS COME ON , SERVICE ADVANCETRAC AND NO COMMUNICATION ALL OVER AGAIN , GET CAR HOME AND RIGHT BACK INTO RAPID BLINKING THEFT MODE AND NO START , THIS TIME I COULD NOT GET IT STARTED AND TOWED IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP , THIS TIME THEY ARE SAYING THEY THINK IT MIGHT BE THE POWER STERRING MODULE WHICH IS NO SERVICEABLE PART BUILT INTO THE TRW RACK AND PINION THAT HAS BEEN BUILT SINCE 2008 FOR THESE FORDS BUT ONLY 2011-2012 FUSIONS WHERE ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS PART!!! DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS GONE AGAIN AND THEY DID SOME WORK ON THE WIRING ON HARNESS BUT SAID IT WILL PROBABLY COME BACK AND NEED A NEW RACK AND PENION PUT IN!!! I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THIS DEALERSHIP , MY PROBLEM IS WHY FORD IS NOT TAKING CARE OF A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT HAS CAUSED COMPLETE STERRING FAILURE AND WRECKS , MY RESERACH HAS FOUND THAT TRW BUILD THIS RACK AND PENION SINCE 2008 FOR THE FUSION AS WELL AS OTHER SIMILAR MODELS , BUT ONLY RECALL ON A FEW MODELS!!! THIS NEEDS TO BE A BROADER RECALL , THIS IS OUR MAIN FAMILY CAR AND NOW I AM BOARDER LINE SCARED TO DRIVE IT UNTIL I KNOW 100% IT IS FIXED AND SAFE TO DRIVE AND CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT RIGHT NOW!!

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED TO ASSIST WITH THE STEERING. THE MECHANIC MANAGED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FORMER DEALER (J.C. LEWIS FORD HINESVILLE, 309 W OGLETHORPE HWY, HINESVILLE, GA 31313, (912) 257-4833) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN STEERING RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LARRY H. MILLER FORD LINCOLN DRAPER (LOCATED AT 11442 LONE PEAK PKWY, DRAPER, UT 84020, (801) 590-0561) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I WAS DRIVING THIS CAR ON A CITY STREET WHEN THE 'SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW' LIGHT CAME ON. I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL SO I TOOK IT TO PRECISION TUNE AND THEY RESET IT BUT TOLD ME THAT THEY SEE THIS MAKE/MODEL OF CAR WITH THE SAME POWER STEERING ISSUE A LOT AND THAT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THAT WAS MONDAY IT IS NOW THURSDAY AND THE SAME 'SERVICE POWER STEERING' LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN! I'M TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING SYSTEM HAS TO BE REPLACED FOR 1800+

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD FUSION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE STEERING WAS INOPERABLE MAKING NOISE AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, IT OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTHGATE FORD (LOCATED AT 16501 FORT ST, SOUTHGATE, MI 48195, (734) 282-3636) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TWO UPPER TIE RODS AND FRONT SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000. *BF*JB

ONCE AGAIN MY POWER STEERING ASSIST QUIT WORKING WITH NO WARNING ALMOST CAUSING ME TO WRECK
POWER STEERING FAILURE WITH EXACT SYMPTOMS OF FORDS RECALL ON THE SAME MODEL CARS 2011 AND UP. THIS CAR IS A 2010 MODEL AND DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL, BUT HAS THE SAME SYMPTOMS. REGULARLY LOSES POWER STEERING. RESTARTING THE CAR FIXES THE PROBLEM. HAPPENS MOST OFTEN WHILE STARTING THE CAR, BUT HAS HAPPENED WHILE CAR IS DRIVING ALSO. CAUSES COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND DISPLAYS "POWER STEERING ASSISTANCE FAILURE" ON THE DASH.
MY CAR, 2010 FORD FUSION SEL, WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LITE CAME ON. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF LOSING THE STEERING. I DID TURN THE CAR OFF AND WAITED AND RESTARTED THE CAR AND THE WARNING MESSAGE WAS GONE HOWEVER AFTER DRIVING IT THE MESSAGE REAPPEARED AND IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE STEERING IS HARD TO MANAGE. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE, I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME EXACT THING.
WITHOUT WARNING THE SERVICE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC BOTH CAME UP ON MY SYSTEM AS I WAS DRIVING. WHEN I GOT HOME I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND WHEN I WENT TO USE MY CAR AGAIN THE POWER STEERING WAS COMPLETELY OFF MY STEERING WHEEL NO LONGER TURNS.
VEHICLE IN MOTION, AT 35-40MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, THE VEHICLE WILL TAKE 6-7 CAR LENGTHS TO COME TO A FULL STOP, SLOWLY, WITH NO LOCKING OF TIRES, NO ABS. NO ERROR CODES. SHOP #1 WENT THROUGH BRAKE SYSTEM AND SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE THE HCU IS BAD. FORD DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THAT THE BRAKING DISTANCE, RESPONSE (PEDAL TO THE FLOOR) IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR. AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS SO LONG THERE WOULD BE NO WAY TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. DEALERSHIP STATES SINCE NO CODES ARE SHOWING, THEY WON'T PHYSICALLY TEST OR WARRANTY THE HCU. THIS IS AN ON-GOING ISSUE WITH THE CAR THAT IS GETTING WORSE OVER TIME. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, WITHOUT CODES, AND HAS RESULTED IN AN INVESTIGATION. RECOMMEND SPEEDING UP THAT INVESTIGATION.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT- POWER STEERING WILL FAIL AND CANNOT TURN WHEEL. HAPPENS AT START AND IN MOTION. HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS.
THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE JUST RECENTLY (TODAY AND LAST WEEK) WHEN I WAS STARTING THE CAR AND BACKING OUT THE "POWER STEERING" FAILED AND THERE WAS A ERROR MESSAGE ON THE DASH DISPLAY SAYING IT HAD A FAILURE, THANKFULLY NOT WHILE I WAS DRIVING AS I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. WHY IS FORD NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE HAS IT HAS WITH OTHER YEAR MODEL FUSIONS, THIS COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT AND ALSO SEEMS TO COST QUITE A BIT TO REPAIR WHICH SHOULD NOT BE MY RESPONSIBILITY SINCE IT APPEARS TO BE A MFG DEFECT.

AFTER PLACING NUMEROUS CALLS AND PROVIDING EVERY POSSIBLE PIECE OF INFORMATION I CAN NOT GET FORD MOTOR COMPANY OR THE DEALER TO RESPOND TO THE RECALL.THE DEALER IS FEDUKE FORD, VESTAL NY. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE NEW YORK STATE DMV ALSO STATING THE IMPORTANCE OF GETTING THE RECALL DONE UNDER THREAT OF EMINENT DEATH AND STILL CAN NOT GET ANY RESPONSE FROM FORD. DAUGHTERS STEERING WENT OUT LAST NIGHT ON HER 2010 FUSION AND CLUSTER SHOWED A SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW MESSAGE. SHE SAID ALL SHE DID WAS A U TURN TO GO THE OTHER WAY ON THE ROAD AND IT JUST STOPPED STEERING CORRECTLY. STEERING WHEEL JUST GOT TO HARD FOR HER TO TURN IT. SHE CUT THE CAR OFF AND WAITED FOR ME AND MY WIFE TO COME AND GET HER AND HER FRIEND LUCKILY IT WASN'T TO FAR FROM THE HOUSE. I TURNED THE CAR ON AND THE ERROR MESSAGE WAS STILL THERE. SHE WENT WITH MY WIFE WHILE I DROVE THE CAR HOME WAS A LITTLE STIFF TURNING BUT I REMEMBER DRIVING MY GRANDFATHERS TRUCK WITH NO POWER STEERING SO NOTHING I COULDN'T HANDLE. THIS ISSUE IS COMMON FROM FORD AND THE FUSIONS FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING AND FOR THEM TO NOT RECALL THIS MODEL YEAR AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM IS UNPROFESSIONAL. THEY SHOULD INCLUDE THIS MODEL YEAR INTO THE RECALL AND FIX THIS ISSUE. WHAT IF MY DAUGHTER AND HER FRIEND WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT, OR ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURED. THEY WOULD HAVE A LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS FOR KNOWING ABOUT THE ISSUE AND NOT DOING ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL YEAR.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT SPEED LIMIT OF 55MPH THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THE CAR.WITH NO WARNING. TOOK IT TO R & C MECHANIC DIAGNOSTICS SAID IT THE RACK AND PINION. THEY REPLACED IT.. TWO DAYS LATER THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING.AGAIN WITH NO WARNING. MECHANIC IS REPLACING THE PART BUT WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS DEALER THAT THIS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2010 FUSION AND IT VERY LIKELY COULD HAPPEN AGAIN. HE WAS SURPRISED THERE WAS NO RECALL.IS FORD WAITING FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PEOPLE TO BE MAIMED OR KILLED BEFORE THEY RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM???
I HAD ALREADY GOTTEN MY THROTTLE BODY REPAIRED THE YEAR BEFORE MY CAR STARTED JOLTING AS IF IT WAS MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. THIS TIME THOUGH THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP WHEN I TRIED ACCELERATE FROM STOP, RPMS WOULD GO ALL THE WAY UP TO 5 BEFORE SWITCHING GEARS AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD MOVE UP AND DOWN WHILE ELECTRICAL LIGHTS FLICKERED. TOOK IT TO FORD AND NOTHING WAS FOUND SO I GOT AN OIL CHANGE AND TRANSMISSION FLUSH. THAT SAME DAY THE CAR STARTED DOING IT AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO FORD THEY OFFERED TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND RETURNED THE CAR THE NEXT DAY. NOT EVEN 24HRS AFTER STARTED THE SAME PROBLEM. I TOOK CAR TO AUTO ZONE THEY IMMEDIATELY FOUND AN ERROR FOR THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO FORD WHERE THEY HAD ME LEAVE IT FOR TWO DAYS FOR THE TRANSMISSION TECH TO LOOK AT IT. THEY THEN SAID OIL HAD LEAKED ONTO THE SENSOR CAUSING THE CAR TO DRIVE THAT WAY. REPLACED THAT AND THE HEAD THAT WAS LEAKING. CAR WAS STILL JOLTING AND DRIVING AS IF THROTTLE BODY WAS MESSED UP BUT WORSE. I BROUGHT MY CAR BACK THAT SAME WEEK THEY FOUND A SENSOR THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WHOLE WHILE I WAS 8-9 MONTHS PREGNANT AND ENDED UP SPENDING 1200 DOLLARS ON SOMETHING THAT SHOULD'VE BEEN FIXED THE FIRST TIMR AND IN MY OPINION A SIDE EFFECT FROM THE CAR HAVING A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY FOR SO LONG BEFORE THEY ALLOWED IT TO BE FIXED.
SHORTLY AFTER THE ABS OF THE CAR WAS ACTIVATED ON LOOSE GRAVEL, MY BRAKE PEDAL FADED AND ULTIMATELY WENT TO THE FLOOR FORCING ME TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR TO AVOID GOING THRU AN INTERSECTION, POTENTIALLY CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. PEDAL BRAKING POWER IS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, AND THE CAR REPORTS EVERYTHING IS FINE WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM.
IN 2017 THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK IT IN AND THE WIRE HARNESS WAS MELTING TOGETHER. NOW LESS THAN 2 YEARS LATER THE POWER STEERING IS GOING OUT AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN CITY DRIVING WHICH IS WHEN YOU STEER MORE. GOOGLE POWER STEERING FOR THIS VEHICLE, THEN GET READY...THOUSANDS ARE HAVING ISSUES.
MY FUSION INTERMITTENTLY LOSES ITS ELECTRIC ASSIST STEERING. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HAVE TO REALLY STRUGGLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE AS THE POWER ASSIST JUST STOPS WORKING. I PULL OVER, SHUT OFF THE CAR AND ITS POWER ASSIST RETURNS. DO NOT KNOW IF TURNING OFF THE CAR HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT.

THE MESSAGE ON THE EVIC DISPLAY STATES "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" I HAVE RESEARCHED THE FORD RECALLS WITH THE FUSION AND THERE IS AN EXACT RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE IN 2011 - 2013 MODEL YEARS. FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME AS MINE IS NOT A 2011. HOW CAN I HAVE THE SAME DEFECTS 1 MODEL YEAR EARLIER AND NOT BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL?
I WAS GOING HOME FROM WORK, SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT ON A CITY STREET, A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I TRIED TO TURN TO CONTINUE TO THE FOLLOWING STREET, WELL I COULDNT. MY STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED, SO NOW, HERE I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WITH CARS HONKING, HOW EMBARRASSING! WELL SINCE I KNOW A LITTLE BIT ABOUT CARS, I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RE-STARTED IT, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL STIFF, I HAD TO JERK AND PUT MY BODY WEIGHT TO GET A LITTLE OF LEVERAGE AND TURN IT A LITTLE, I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE STREET AND PARK IT, TOW TRUCK CAME AND GOT IT. SHOULD I HAVE FILED A POLICE REPORT? WHAT IF IT WOULD OF LOCKED UP GOING ON THE HIGHWAY I TAKE TO WORK EVERY DAY? NOW MY CAR IS PARKED AT HOME WAITING FOR ANSWERS.
