The failure mileage was 186,885.
The 3rd time that an abs event has caused the brake peddle to go extremely soft. Eventually pressure in the peddle will regain after several weeks. The issue I'm experiencing is identical to Ford's Safety Recall 19S54 which states an issue with sticky abs valves and a loss of pressure in the braking system. I'm not sure why this vin is not included in the recall but I would really appreciate an NHTSA ordered recall as this can be an highly expensive fix that should have been included in Ford's recall, in my opinion. Thank you for considering.

About 6 months ago, while driving, my car hit a bump in the road and the brakes went all the way to the floor when I tried to stop. I pulled to the side of the road, turned car off and restarted and brakes returned to normal. Two days ago for no reason the brakes became non-responsive again. I turned the car off and restarted and they began to work again. Shortly after that incident, on the same day, the warning lights came on and the brakes became unresponsive. After turning the car off, opening the door and restarting the brakes still were unresponsive and the warning lights are still on. I cannot drive the car safely because the brakes are not working and the warning lights are on non-stop.
While driving at 25-30 mph I stepped on the brakes to stop and alarm went off and warning of ABS system failure. I had to press brake pedal extremely hard to slow down to rolling stop, completed stop with parking brake. I took to independent mechanic who was unable to get the car to repeat the problem. After I picked up my car from mechanic it happened again, but when I turned the ignition off and opened the door the warning stops. I don't know what caused the brakes to fail and can't predict when it will happen again. This is very unsafe.

Subject: Safety Complaint Regarding Ford Motor Company's Safety Recall 14S06 Dear NHTSA, I am writing to submit a safety complaint regarding the power steering issue covered under Safety Recall 14S06 issued by Ford Motor Company for certain 2011-2013 model year Ford Explorer vehicles. I own a 2011 Ford Fusion Hybrid with a VIN 3FADP0L39BR178615 On 03/23, I experienced a sudden loss of power steering assist while driving my vehicle. The instrument cluster message center displayed a warning message, and a chime sounded to alert me of the issue. As a result, the steering effort significantly increased, particularly at lower speeds, which posed a safety risk and made it challenging to maneuver the vehicle safely. Upon investigation, I discovered that Ford Motor Company had issued Safety Recall 14S06 due to concerns related to power steering operation in affected vehicles. The recall mentioned that the power steering system might revert to manual steering mode due to a Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) detecting a motor position sensor fault. Unfortunately, my vehicle's mileage had exceeded 150,000 miles, and I was unaware of the recall at that time. I understand that the extended coverage provided under Program 15N01, as part of the recall, applies only up to 150,000 miles or within 10 years of service from the warranty start date, whichever comes first. Regrettably, my vehicle has surpassed the mileage limit specified in the extended coverage program. Given the safety implications and the number of affected vehicles, I kindly request the NHTSA to investigate this issue further and take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of all Ford Explorer owners affected by this power steering problem. I believe that th
While driving on the street, my car’s brakes were suddenly inoperative. The parking brake light and a brake system warning light were illuminated on my dash just as I went to use the pedal. (“Check brake system”). Despite pressing the pedal to the floor, I was unable to get the car to slow down at all. I was approaching a red light and had to shift the car into neutral, then use my parking brake to bring the car to a complete stop to narrowly avoid hitting the car in front of me. After turning the car off, then on again, the indicating lights disappeared and the car, from what I could see, acted as usual. The incident was completely spontaneous and posed a huge threat for not only myself, but drivers around me. After towing the car to my nearby mechanic I was told it was a possible problem with the Hydraulic brake/control assembly and ABS system. The estimate for repairs was nearly $3,000. My car is available for inspection upon request. After research, it appears it is a relatively common problem with my car’s make and model. Ford models of years previous to mine have seemingly had a similar issue, as well as others that were the same as mine. The damage possible with this manufacturing error is inexcusable. Completely spontaneous and at an exorbitant price for repair.
It started in February 2023 no warning lights nothing just when I came to a stop at a red light the car dies it will start right back most of the time but other times when you start it back it's like the starter stays engaged and makes a struttering sound and whole car shakes and you have to hurry and shut it back off and restart it again the longer you drive the car the more it dies when you come to a stop other times it may not do it for days I've almost been in 7 accidents that I've counted bc of this issue bc it dies and ppl think I should be moving and I can't or I just turn at a light and it will die and I can go until I restart it I also think it cause my battery to go out bc I had to replace it not long after this started. It's not been reported to anyone but you or inspected but is available to be anytime. Components affected ( DOOR HANDLE INSIDE PASSANGER SIDE)My 2nd issue is with my passenger side door handle without warning it just stopped working and now you have to roll window down to open from outside my safety could be at risk bc I wouldn't be able to get out of car if there was a crash. It's not been reported, inspected by anyone but is available anytime to be.

Upon getting into my car last Sunday 02/05/2023, a message displayed on my dashboard indicating “power steering assist fault” and the steering wheel was extremely difficult to turn (I am an athletic young individual). This made it impossible to get out of my lot behind my apartment thus making me not able to use the car and had to take the bus. I called Ford who said I had taken my car into a Ford dealer for recall 15s18 and 15n10 and they reprogrammed the steering module in 2020. I am told that I am passed the extension of this recall as my car is past the warranty date which was up in 2021. This is extremely frustrating because I am being penalized for taking my car in to get the recall fixed when all they did was re-program the steering module. This is a safety issue and I am reading is unfortunately common to have issues after the re-program and thus not be covered by the recall. The recall should have been to replace the power steering modules, since they are faulty. Because my car was taken in before 10 years and 150,000 I should not have to pay $2200 now only 3 years later. I took my car to a local trusted mechanic who ran the codes and sure enough said that a code came up saying faulty steering control module. I hope more people file complaints so there can be another recall issued. Thank you for your time. Katie
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, while depressing the brake pedal, the brake pedal went to the floorboard. My power steering went out in my 2011 Ford Fusion. When researching the possible cause, I found out there was a recall on the power steering for the model of my car. However, there is a 10 year or 150k mile limit on this recall. I couldn't understand how Ford could put a statue of limitations on a dangerous and faulty product; so, I took my car to a Ford dealer to get this issue resolved. They denied me the recall but said they could fix the power steering for $1800. I cannot afford that price. I'm submitting a request on here in hopes there's something that can be done. I just don't understand how there is a limit on a safety recall.
The contact's uncle owns a 2011 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while his uncle was driving at highway speeds, the power steering assist failed, with the traction control and power steering assist messages displayed. The contact stated that his uncle used excessive force to steer the vehicle off to the shoulder; however, the power steering assist returned, causing him to over correct the steering wheel nearly driving the vehicle off the road. The vehicle was initially taken to an independent mechanic however, the mechanic unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer but was not yet diagnosed and remained in dealer possession. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
Service power steering in 2011 Ford fusion SE 2.5 L
When braking on a low traction surface, ABS activated pulsing the pedal. After this brake event, the brake pedal feels significantly soft and can be pushed nearly to the floor with ease. The braking distance has greatly extended and is unsafe to drive. The event closely matches the ABS valve issue in NTSA Campaign Number: 19V904000. This vehicle has not yet been taken for inspection nor repaired. This vehicle will be repaired soon but is currently available for inspection.
My vehicle is a 2011 Ford Fusion, with 165,000 miles on it. When leaving my apartment, as soon as I got on the highway and went above 15 mph my car violently started to shake, I immediately pulled over safely and got out to check around and under the car. Got back in and put it back in drive. Started to drive and it once again started to violently shake. I immediately pulled over again and called to have it towed. Once able I tried to get Ford to look at it but they said the next appointment was 2 months out. I had another mechanic look at it and he said the PTU had failed and would need a full removal and installation of the transfer case. With all the work that needed done he said it would be over 4K. I don’t have that kind of money right now because I just had tire rods replace and ball joints so I’m just going to have to wait. Having been without a car has been so difficult. I searched online and found that many drivers of the Ford Fusion as well as other models are experiencing issues with the PTU. Again, I don’t have this money right now so unfortunately I’ll have to have the car sit at my place until I figure out what to do. When I called the Ford dealer, he said he has seen several PTUs go out. It’s just frustrating because I always keep up with maintenance with my vehicle, as well as tires. I don’t race my vehicle or anything so this shouldn’t be happening.
The electric steering power goes out while driving almost wrecked into someone at a light turning now ford won’t fix it because it’s been over 10 years but my miles are still under 100,000 miles

While driving the power steering suddenly went out causing me to nearly crash. I was looking online and saw on their website that there was a safety issue and that they were fixing them. Since this was under the recall page and under the airbag recall, I had assumed that this was also under a recall. This was under campaign# 15N01. I went to a Ford Dealership (Veterans Ford) to get this and the airbag recall fixed. They then called me back and told me that not only was this issue not covered by a recall, that they would be charging me $250 dollars for the inspection. They also said it would cost $3900 dollars for the repair and that I had to have it done because it was a known safety issue. They said the fix was already done in 2015 when they reprogrammed the electric steering, when I took the car in for a warranty repair and airbag replacement (which was not done because they didn’t have it in). I then called FORD directly for some answers and the guy told me that they were not obligated to repair it because it was not an actual safety recall. I told him why was this under a safety recall page and why was I charged $250+ dollars and the guy kept repeating (like he had done this countless times) that it was not a safety recall and that there was nothing that they can do. Upon researching this issue online, it seems to be affecting thousands of people, all of whom say they nearly (or have) gotten into an accident. I’m sure there have been people seriously injured or killed by this sudden loss of control but not enough for anything to be done about it.
LOST POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING THE CAR.

Complete steering gear failure, replaced by Witt Ford, I will request they keep the part for inspection. Driving down the highway when steering gear failed, no power steering placed driver and others on highway at risk. There were no warning lights or message until after failure of steering gear. Recall on steering issue 15v340000. I have never received any recall information or notified about any steering gear issue. Vehicle serviced by ford dealerships since October 2019 at least 10 times. Vehicle also registered with FordPass. Informed by dealer that recall and covered repairs expired at 10 years or 150000miles.
The power steering has failed intermittently (at least 5 separate occasions) while driving. The failure was inconsistent between times driven and parked. First time noticed, turned vehicle on and could barely move the wheel. Turned vehicle off and back on and didn't have an issue with the steering wheel or on the road and got home okay. The issue started out this way and then once it was consistent it was unable to operate the vehicle safely. This vehicle is our main vehicle so it happened to myself and to my husband while on his way home from work. However, when the power steering failed was extremely difficult to turn the wheel while driving. We took into dealership and the diagnostics was the electrical power steering is faulty and the traction control has failed. After looking into the issue - we believe our 2011 Ford Fusion may have been one of the recalls that should have been included for the power steering failure recall that was sent to other 2011 Ford Fusions. We did not receive a notification, however after viewing online - Ford recalled 445K vehicles with the same exact issue.
Power steering went out while driving, I came close to hitting someone head on, but was able to get it pulled over to the side of the road. Then the warning light came on.
The brakes in my car suddenly went very soft. Took to the mechanic and they initiated diagnosed it as a master cylinder issue. The have changed the Master cylinder about 3 times and still no brakes. The problem is the HCU or the ABS system. My vehicle has been worked for a month and still have not been able to fix. This nearly cause me to crash my vehicle as the brakes nearly failed on me. If I was on a highway, the situation would have been fatal.
